Some might argue that evil itself was not intended to be part of the creative order. Although mortals were intended to work, toil, grow and mature over time murder, terror, hatred, suffering, pestilence, plague and the destruction of creation was not part of The Vision. Those of darkness are thus viewed as fallen gods who have stepped out of the light of The Source and instead grow in strength by feeding like vampires off of negative energy as it is created in the world. They draw their strength from decay and wickedness. The deities of darkness seek domination within their own pantheon and over the entire Created Order. Ethical concerns are non-existent although some orders, particularly lawful ones, still stand somewhat against the consuming powers of The Void and have a semblance of ethics and honor where they can be used as tools to further their own needs.

Maugrim Bauglier embodies this corruption in that he was born of the left hand of The Source, before the count of days, and intended to rule co-eval with Daeus over all creation, and safeguard it from the hungering maw of the Void. This was not enough for the Tyrant of Gods and instead he ultimately sought to claim Daeus' birthright for his own, triggering a civil war that colors world history to this day.

Some might argue that evil itself was not intended to be part of the creative order.

Although mortals were intended to work, toil, grow and mature over time, murder, terror, hatred, suffering, pestilence, plague and the destruction of creation was not part of the Vision. Those of darkness are viewed as fallen gods who have stepped out of the light of the Source and instead grow in strength by feeding like vampires off of negative energy.

Maugrim Bauglier embodies the corruption of the fallen gods in that he was born of the left hand of the Source, before the count of days. He had been intended to rule co-eval with Daeus over all creation, and safeguard it from the hungering maw of the Void. This was not enough for the Tyrant of Gods and instead he ultimately sought to claim Daeus' birthright for his own, triggering a civil war that colors world history to this day.

Maugrim is considered the defacto benefactor and patron of the gods of darkness. Such a role is both written into the Loom of Creation and into the Books of Ea, but in recent eras his wife, Taara, has risen to great prominence and power and Maugrim has waned. In a bid to circumvent the Non-manifestation Pact (an agreement following the War of the Gods that the gods would not manifest their presence in full upon Gaea again and rule from forms of flesh), Taara ushered in a new era of chaos. This era saw her dominance and influence in the world rise higher then any of her peers. Taara took for herself the title of Dark Goddess and sought to usurp the Five Fold Dragon. However, the Loom would not recognize her claim and though weakened, Maugrim remains the acknowledged head of the gods of darkness. Nonetheless, her efforts resulted in the death of gods, the ascension of others and the re-ordering of much of the status quo. She remains, to many, the current principle threat to peace and civility whilst the other gods of darkness consolidate their power and seek to either ally with her or betray her.

Aside from the infamous brothership of Maugrim and Daeus, other relationships flicker amongst the shadow. The gods of evil war against themselves as well as the gods of light and twilight, and some of these become the stuff of legend. For instance, Maugrim has been known to contest with Kor and lately Serriel over the dominion of war. As with all things, he would be its sole master.

In the natural aspects of the world, Gunakhar stands opposite Dana, and Caracoroth against Gilead and Eluna. One fights for the dominion of nature, and others for animals and lycanthropy. While Caracoroth's dominion folds over them, her moon watches from above, and the two exist in an ancient conflict. Often he sends agents to disrupt the Hunt of Gilead--kidnapping his priests, or more winsomely, turning them into objects of prey and setting them loose in the woods.

Cooperation within the Hells is not unknown--Deimos and Illotha's priests may be found working side by side at times, though Deimos often finds himself in conflict with Rada--bringing the dominions of commerce and thievery into conflict. Deimos also may work against Angoron--heroism against cowardice.

In the lands of the beyond, Thul and Vardama stand on opposite ends of death, though he strikes against Althea too and her love of life. Taara bodes no love for Eluna, and recent conflicts have made this battle all the more poingent as magic roils within the world.

Caracoroth years ago was chased by the team of Gilead and Angoron, who chained him to the Iron Hells for the safety of the world--though his rage reaches even beyond, striking not only at Gilead, but with Ceinara, warring against her beauty with vicious snaps at her heels. As she deals with Caracoroth, so must she deal with Gunakhar, who stands opposite, destruction to her creation.

Finally, Thul and Taara are possibly siblings but priests remain unable to confirm the rumor.
