  • Title: Forgotten Blood III - Prion Prison (Part 3)
  • Place: Am'shere - Prion Prison
  • Summary: Adventurers have discovered a Charnite to create more Forgotten. Having found out the strange magical disease that has been crafted by them, they move upon 'Prion Prison' - a site of the first war against the Charnites in Am'shere - in order to take down the source of the disease.

OOC Notes Due to the extended length of this adventure, the GM has provided 3 re-rolls for the extent of the entire plotline in Prion Prison. Below is the number of remaining re-rolls at the end of this encounter:

  • Aelwyn 0/3
  • Andelena 0/3
  • Elisabeth 1/3
  • Rune 2/3
  • Schara 2/3
  • Skielstregar 1/3

As we return to our intrepid Adventurers, they've just gone through an arduous battle. While wounds are healed, a great deal of energy has already been exerted, and they are still not finished dealing with the Prion Prison.

They've just captured a Charnite Mage, who has told them that the rest of their compatriots were in the north-eastern quadrant of the prison. Elisabeth has since dragged the Charnite mage away back to the camp, gagged, unconscious, bound, and otherwise made unable to cast any more spells.

The group has since returned to the outer hallway that connected to the old barracks, preparing to continue their exploration.

Skielstergar chuffs as he watches the Charneth mage through the arrow slits get dragged off by a sister in faith. "Fool," he shakes his head. "They mentioned sssomething to the north easssst. In a room there. We can check that next, no?"

Schara was standing awkwardly off at the door as the mage was dragged off. "I hope she is not working with them the way that demon pretending to be a sith-makari was." The artificer sighs. "I'm not good with people, but given the fact that he always intented to flee later and probably try to kill us, do you think where he mentioned can be trusted."

Since the interaction with the Charneth mage, Rune has been more quiet than normal. Normally, she had a viceral, gut reaction to them, drawn from her own negative experiences, but this particular one had seemed less than a threat. Seeing one, solidifies that there would be more, and that seems to have ticked up her anxiety. What it means is that the rogue is a bit more flighty than normal, her eyes darting into every dark corner.

"Let's get moving, see what we can find on the other side." With a glance to Schara, Rune lifts her shoulder in a half shrug. "It's the best intel we have, and we know there has to be more Charneth here." She motions to the room they had already discarded, which is occupied by Forgotten, "And I doubt they are in there."

With a slight sigh, "At least we made sure he couldn't alert his friends, but I'm sure that they'll notice him missing sooner or later, so we should move."

"Probably should," Andelena agrees with Skielstregar and Rune. "Much as I'm not inclined to take the word of a fellow who had runes on his balls... Even if it is dangerous, there's probably worth in finding something there, you know?"

She taps her sword again with a small light spell, giving herself something to work with. "I'm happy so long as I'm not wrestling more naked men."

Aelwyn was not _particularly_ surprised by the bloodlust in the party when it came to the mage, yet he was always told information is more powerful than corpses. Usually. "Does it matter, Brass? If we do not find what we are looking for, then we shall find something else; and perhaps we would have fallen to the trap either way."

The ruddy sith-makar keeps a wary eye on the rest of the party, suspecting this will be a harder journey for some. "Tch, now that is spoiling a party." He flashes his teeth at Andelena.

Skielstregar rolls Stealth: 1d20+2: 18+2 = 20
Andelena casts Light on herself.

As the team progresses throughout the prison, opening a few more doors, they take a peek at the north and eastern hallway doors. To the north, semi-cooled Lava seems to be present. But still lethally hot to most. A twosome of roiling Lava-Elementals leaving behind a slurry of hot lava everywhere they go.

To the east, a chamber that has largely fallen apart with live magma still roiling everywhere. A few pieces of floor still remaining to the far east that connect to the chambers to the north and south of it.

They recall that the chamber they saw before might be able to give access to the north-east, but some of the distances between the remaining floor were too long to jump without aid of some kind of temporary bridges or rope or the likes.

Skielstregar goes along with the others as they go around the halls to check the door the mage indicated. "We are doing fine," he rumbles to everyone, stepping up with Rune and giving her a pat on the shoulder. The north eastern door is open with a heavy shove. Beyond it a sea of molten rock, with some broken floor in the distance. "... no," he murmurs, closing it as they go to the northern door.

Having been warned of elementals, he takes his steps slower, and quietly opens the portal, himself and Malefic peeking around the corner. A couple of patrolling elementals pass by him before he shuts it again. "More fire elementalsss..." he whispers in a hiss. "Alssso sssaw a door acrosss the way, and another passsage down the hall. We... may have to deal with it, asss there isss more lava, but lesss hot.

He shifts on his feet. "... thisss one may be able to get usss acrosss. With magic."

The hand on her shoulder seems to ease some of that tension, but not completely. Rune simply nods, but the constant shifting of her grip on her weapons suggests that words alone won't solve her problem.

As they close the door on the lava elementals, Rune takes in a slow breath, and then lets it out again. "So... both of those look like dead-ends to me." Looking in both directions, the rogue folds her arms across her chest. "Of our options, the room that wasn't completely lava and seemed to head in that direction might be our best bet. But it's going to take some athletics to get through there, I imagine. Or some spells."

At the very least, Harkashan isn't there with them. He has always had issues with feats of athleticism.

Aelwyn lifts his glaive and holds it up against his shoulder in seemingly relaxed fashion; but his grip on the weapon was fixed, betraying his ready stance. "Hmmh, few more fire elementals should not be of concern. Though this one wonders why there are so many of them here?"

The Dragoon then reaches around and pats one of his larger satchels. "This one brought enough rope to bind a mage and raise Silver from the pit." Another flash of his teeth as he rumbles, tail swaying behind him.

Schara moves along with the others as they pass through. "If you all are fine then I will be fine, even if I am feeling physically exhausted." The artificer shrugs before joining the others in travelling. "Yes, no more fire elementals please, there is enough burning." She agrees. "I feel I would be the one most likely to fail any climbing or jumping." Schara notes. "That is why I came prepared, but I can only help myself with that."

"I'm not the worst hand in the world at climbing, but it's difficult to do in full armor," Andelena replies. "If we gotta cross with Skiel's magic--which I didn't even know that you had, damn buddy--then we gotta cross with Skiel's magic. It's okay by me."

She's just grateful that the departing Sunguard gave her a spell to make her feel a bit more comfortable on her way out.

Rune rolls Acrobatics: 1d20+17: 4+17 = 21
Aelwyn rolls Acrobatics: 1d20+7: 19+7 = 26

As the group backtracks to the room in question, Rune stows one of her swords in order to make sure that she has at least one hand available to her, given that there may be some jumping involved. "I should be able to handle most of the jumps. I think." It's the 'I think' that may very well show a hint of that uncertainty.

Even so, when the door is opened, Rune darts in and leaps over the first of the lava spills, landing on the other side.

That is when she sees that there is more trouble heading their way. "Looks like we've got trouble. Gargoyle and two elementals!"

Skielstregar looks at Aelwyn. "Lava. Planesss grow thin near here. Fire ssspirits," he elaborates before looking at Andelena. He scraches his neck. "You've ssseen thissss one ussse magicsss before. With the... gun medusssa?" he says sheepishly. "Jussst... don't be afraid."

He watches the others leap forward before shaking his head, him pulling forward into the room and shaking his hands off. "Alright. Ssso... let thisss one just-" His attention snaps to the side of the room. "... we have another ssstone bird."

"Oh yeah. That lady with the snakes for hair," Andelena replies, marvelling a little at the sheer weird factor of that statement. She walks forward into the room, and when the others announce there's other issues, her steel-gray eyes narrow. "Okay," she says. "Skiel, mind having a really heavy backpack for like, five minutes? Unless they come to _us_, in which case..."

Her hand goes to the hilt of her blade. "They'll regret doing that."

"This one wonders why here? Hmmh, planes and magic." The shorter draconian rumbles, waving dismissively by the end. It did not matter. What mattered was the task at hand, and the comfortable heat.

And besides, Aelwyn had nothing but over-confidence. "Tch, she will fly over these." The ruddy sith-makar says, as without hesitation he follows on after her. Ribbons flutter around his horns him as he lands near her. Already, he is pulling one of his javelins out. "Here is to an even trade of blades." His tail lightly touches Rune's ankles, before he takes his own position.

Andelena casts Weapon of Awe.

"Please at least tie a rope to yourself before jumping in case something goes wrong, or just jump as soon as the door is open, in that case? At least you're alright. And, Aelwyn too." The artificer notes with more than a hint of worry. "Could you wait and do that before jumping again? Or, oh, more elementals and gargoyles, I should not be surprised, but it's not safe to move with them there."

As the group begins its attempt to move across the rickety and flawed remaining floors in the eastern part of Prion Prison, things begin to move. As Skielstregar points out the statue, it begins to move. Creaking, cracking. Stone crumbling down from it, before it lets out a roaring stony sound, eyes white.

Now here, in Prion Prison, the spell is broken, and it lives again!

As it takes flight and starts to flap over with its stony wings.

To the east, huge Fire Elementals rise, starting to move towards the fragile floor!

Andelena draws her blade. "Okay Deliverance," she says. "Time to work again."

"I am at your side," Deliverance responds. Andelena mutters a prayer, and the sword glows brightly.

"Okay you shits, come on over," the Sunguard growls, her steel-gray eyes glaring at the opposition. "I'm ready."

Schara casts Spider Climb.

Ah, right, the fire elementals probably knew they were there, as well. Schara takes another device out of one of the many pocked on their armor, and slides it into place over one of their forearms, which causes numerous small, hooked spikes to spring out of various seams in the metal armor and stab in to the stone.

Aelwyn uses AoO: 1d20+9: 19+9 = 28 -- Damage 19
Gargoyle uses Claws: 1d20+7+2: 6+7+2 = 15

The Lava Elementals immediately begin to approach the team, while the Gargoyle comes flying over with ease toward Aelwyn. Aelwyn's spear hitting it on the side, before it tries to reach him with the claw - but failing. The Fire Elementals on the other hand keep getting closer. The one closest 'tearing away' some of the stone brick. Chunks falling into the lava!

Rune rolls Feint: 1d20+19-5: 18+19-4 = 33
Rune rolls Attack: 1d20+14-2: 9+14-2 = 21 -- Damage: 16
Rune rolls Attack: 1d20+14-7: 15+14-7 = 22 -- Damage: 4
Rune rolls Attack: 1d20+14-7: 12+14-7 = 19 -- Damage: 2

With the Gargoyle moving in on Aelwyn, Rune moves forward, her blades back in both hands as she moves up next to the fire-dancer in order to support him in the fight. There is a quick flash of one weapon, followed by others in a quick flurry of steel.

The creature falls into rubble at her feet. Then, looking over her shoulder, she curses under her breath, "I really don't like elementals." She murmurs. Turning in that direction, it seems that the rogue is about to give chase, hoping to stop the elementals from causing further damage to their path.

Skielstregar uses Spider Climb.

Skielstregar blinks as the others get into the fray. "Uhh- uhh, okay!" he chuffs to Andelena, putting Malefic back into its frog. He focuses on himself, black ichor pooling out of his scales before it all slides to his back. "Death from above...!" he snarls.

Black, boneless wings sprout out viscously from his back, him growling as he pushes past the Sunguard. The bone spars slam into the wall, anchoring him as he mantles and dangles over the lava. "Get on, Sssun Sssissster!"

<OOC> Schara says, "double moving to the next island"

Schara takes a running start before half sticking to the stone wall as they reach the gap, metal anchors hooking and sticking into the stone as she quickly works across the gap, dropping to the other side, but keeping her back to the wall when she sees the elementals further crumbling the ground. "Mind the edges! I do not know if it is safer to draw them to the center of the platforms, or if they will simply destroy them as they go." The artificer warns.

<OOC> Aelwyn says, "I guess I'm going to try and do what Schara suggested, tie a rope on the gargoyle's body and try to leap across? Assuming it is my turn. .-."

Aelwyn neatly weaves around as the gargoyle charges at them - and with satisfaction, he smacks the creature aside with a broad swipe from his glaive. "This one appreciates the support, Twin." The ruddy sith-makar rumbles. "Let the parlay of blades share the respective likes on the other side."

Taking a moment to tie his rope onto the gargoyle's corpse; he then takes another running jump across the gap, landing neatly.

<OOC> Andelena says, "Backpacking Skiel, holding action to swipe at an enemy when we come into range."

"Just promise me nobody's gonna tell my husband I'm climbing onto another man," Andelena adds with a laugh, before she goes to climb onto Skielstregar's back. She narrows her eyes at the approaching enemy. "Get me into position and I'll skewer the shit out of what comes our way."

Huge Fire Elemental Slams (Attack) Skielstregar: 18 Damage (Miss)
<OOC> Rune says, "Will just full round, no feint."

Rune rolls Acid Short Sword +1 (Acid Sword): 21 -- Damage 6 Rune rolls Acid Short Sword +1 (Acid Sword): 20 -- Damage 3 Rune rolls Short Sword +1 (Attack): 24 -- Damage 4 Rune rolls Short Sword +1 (Attack): 10 (Miss)

Just as Rune had been complaining about the elementals, and her distinct lack of ability in dealing with them, Rune ends up with one just about flickering up in her face. She backs up a half-step, trying to avoid getting her hair singed by the flames. "Fuck."

Rather than trying to back off, Rune lashes out with her blades in a quick flurry of attacks, causing a hiss of flames as the metal heats slightly. Her gloves and the spell Elisabeth had cast seem to protect her from the worst of the heat, but the attacks seem to do little in the way of damage.

Skielstregar uses Breath Weapon - DC: 19 Reflex -- 9 Damage
Huge Fire Elemental rolls Reflex Saving Throw: 20

Skielstregar chuffs at Andie. "Thisss one isss sure Warrior Dolan will underssstand," he nervously laughs back as the Sunguard grabs onto his back between the bony wingpsars that seems stuck into the wall.

The half-sil's cursing gets him to look back, his eyes widening. There's a moment where he's uncertain of wait to do, but seeing Schara climb forward gets him to act. He inhales deeply, the temperature suddenly dropping several tens of degrees before a gout of flash frozen air blasts over behind him with his head turned upside down.

He clambers across the wall, bone spars slamming into it. His body wafting off a chill of cold as he pants. Finally to the next platform. "Andelena, go!"

<OOC> Aelwyn says, "Move and stab, I guess. ._."
<OOC> Aelwyn will do a nice jig to get +2 on his attack roll. .-.
Aelwyn rolls Flaming Glaive +1 (Attack): 27 -- Damage 5

Whirling his head around as the elemental stomps past him, Aelwyn hisses under his breath. "Never back away, never leave an opening." The Dragoon reminds himself in Draconic, before he rushes back across the gap. "Step on the edge, Twin! It is only a dance!" He calls out.

Meanwhile, his fingers slide once more across his simmering glaive; summoning forth more fire before he slams onto the elemental. Though fire on fire does not usually stop the fire.

<OOC> Andelena says, "5 ft step, full attack, Power Attack + Furious Focus + Weapon of Awe."
Andelena rolls Deliverance (Attack): 16 (Miss)
Andelena rolls Deliverance (Attack): 7 (Miss)
<OOC> Andelena says, "RPPing the first."
Andelena rolls Deliverance (Attack): 26 -- Damage: 16

Andelena hops off Skielstregar's back. "Don't gotta tell me twice, buddy," she replies before she draws Deliverance, still glowing with her prayer to Daeus. "Let's do this. Come on!"

The first strike finds a solid blow in the elemental, with Andelena giving a huff when she draws the sword back for a second carve, but the sword goes wide from her momentum. "Let's run down this thing as quickly as we can!" she shouts.

<OOC> Schara says, "Shooting the fire elemental!"
Schara rolls Firearm: 14 (Miss)

Schara finds a rather large elemental floating right nearby, and with the various parts of their death ray already heated, reheated and strained repeatedly, the artificer elects to fold back the weapon, revealing the smaller barrel which was underneath, which erupts in a small explosion, but the projectile within sails harmlessly through the edge of the elemental.

Huge Fire Elemental Slams (Attack) Aelwyn: 26 -- Damage 14
Huge Fire Elemental Slams (Attack) Andelena: 27 -- Damage 13

Andelena rolls Reflex Saving Throw: 17
Huge Fire Elemental rolls 4d6: 15
Aelwyn rolls Reflex Saving Throw: 9
Huge Fire Elemental rolls 2d6-5: -1 (No Damage)

The Fire Elementals keep moving forward. Breaking more pieces of the chamber. As the one closest to Andelena and Rune moves a bit, it soon turns towards her. Staring down at the woman with all of its flaming rage, and brings its both hands down towards her, trying to squish her from both sides!

<OOC> Rune says, "Same as before, full round, no feint no sneak attack."
Rune rolls Acid Short Sword +1 (Acid Sword): 27 -- Damage 9
Rune rolls Acid Short Sword +1 (Acid Sword): 25 -- Damage 4
Rune rolls Short Sword +1 (Attack): 25 -- Damage 7
Rune rolls Short Sword +1 (Attack): 14 (Miss)

The fact that the fire elementals are laying into her friends is enough to irritate Rune as the creature seems to all but ignore her. It's not something that she's used to. "Hey, fire-for-brains!" She calls out.

If nothing else, maybe she can draw the monster's attention. Her blades slash again, still unable to do the same amount of damage that she would against a regular creature. After the series of flashing blades, the edge of her weapons are starting to look red, as if they were heated a bit by the constant passage through the flame.

Skielstregar activates BLOODRAGE: RAWR
Huge Fire Elemental Slams (Attack) Aelwyn: 26 -- Damage 15
Huge Fire Elemental Slams (Attack) Aelwyn: 29 -- Damage 12
Skielstregar rolls Reflex Saving Throw: 25
Skielstregar rolls Reflex Saving Throw: 17
Huge Fire Elemental rolls 2d6: 8
Skielstregar rolls Malefic (+1 Called/Omnious Halberd) (Attack): 31 -- Damage 28
Huge Fire Elemental is Shaken for 5 rounds due to undead bloodline.

Skielstregar lands on the platform as he's met with towering fire figures. Just between the two of them, he spies Aelwyn holding his ground on the crumbling edge, dancing between the beats of flaming death. "Dragoon!" he shouts as Malefic manifests into his hands. "Thisss one isss coming!"

In a flash, he barrels down the platform, his form shifting into a familiar Forgotten state. It accelerates him, snarling as two whips of fire try to scorch his body, but it matters little as he leaps into the air and SLAMS Malefic down into the elemental. "DIE!"

<OOC> Aelwyn says, "I'll full round the elemental in front of me"
Aelwyn rolls Flaming Glaive +1 (Attack): 24 -- Damage 18
Aelwyn rolls Flaming Glaive +1 (Attack): 10

Aelwyn feels a familiar smack hitting his ribs; the chainshirt perhaps took a good brunt of the damage, but it definitely knocks the air out of the Dragoon, who sputters out blood.

Yet, the ruddy sith-makar stands, boldly moving to clung to the crumbling edge with his toe claws. "Do not miss the joy and exhileration, Silver!" The Dragoon quips back as his body twists in a tornado whirl, neatly slicing into the creature several times before he backs away from the edge with the momentum.

<OOC> Andelena says, "Okay, power attacking again with full round. Weapon of Awe, Furious Focus, etc."
Andelena rolls Deliverance (Attack): 26 -- Damage 14
Andelena rolls Deliverance (Attack): 17 (Miss)

_Keep going._ Even as Andelena takes a big fiery hit from the elemental, the Sunguard growls. "Knight give me _strength_," she growls, going to deliver a strike into the elemental--which bites into it hard, but the second strike, once again, goes as wide as can be.

"Help me take it down!" she yells to her allies.

<OOC> Schara says, "alright, for the sake of everyone else, I'm going to use one of the last three charges to try and zap the one between rune and Andelena"
Schara rolls Death Ray (Death Ray): 20 -- Damage 10

With the firearm now emptied, Schara elects to not waste any time loading it again, and instead flips out the death ray again, quickly charging and discharging a blast of electricity straight through one of the elementals, but perhaps a bit weaker than expected, as the various coils begin to fray yet again.

Huge Fire Elemental Slams (Attack) Skielstregar: 27 -- Damage 14
Huge Fire Elemental Slams (Attack) Skielstregar: 28 -- Damage 10
Skielstregar rolls Reflex Saving Throw: 22
Skielstregar rolls Reflex Saving Throw: 21
Huge Fire Elemental Slams (Attack) Rune: 20
Huge Fire Elemental Slams (Attack) Rune: 33 -- Damage 11
Rune rolls Reflex Saving Throw: 19

The raging fires are slowly being extinguished. As Schara gets a good shot in, weakening the most forward Fire Elemental, while Andelena and Aelwyn and Rune keep focusing it down, eventually they tear at the core energies of the Fire Elemental, causing it to 'poof' out of existance, leaving one only left - which has been slamming down on Skielstregar's position! But the Sith-makar has been putting up a mighty fight, rending parts of its form apart!

Rune rolls Acid Short Sword +1 (Acid Sword): 18 (Miss)
Rune rolls Acid Short Sword +1 (Acid Sword): 19 (Miss)
Rune rolls Short Sword +1 (Attack): 29 -- Damage 7
Rune rolls Short Sword +1 (Attack): 19 (Miss)

Maybe trying to taunt a fire elemental is a bad idea, but Rune braces herself and rolls with a sweep of flames that comes her way. The heat does flicker up along her arm, causing her to wince from the pain as she braces herself.

The pain is enough to have her attacks be a little more uncertain, but of the flailing mass of strikes, one of them does manage to get through, eventually ending the threat of the one closest to her.

Wiping sweat off of her brow, Rune gives a low whistle and hten looks towards the remaining threat.

Skielstregar rolls Malefic (+1 Called/Omnious Halberd) (Attack): 21 -- Damage 28
Skielstregar rolls Malefic (+1 Called/Omnious Halberd) (Attack): 16 (Miss)

Forgotten Skielstregar hisses in pain as his brackish blood is sizzled off him. "There is NOTHING JOYFUL and EXHILERATING about thisss!" he snarls, two more massive swings slamming into the elemental and tearing through its essence that keeps it material in this plane.

Malefic gets pulled back as he takes a step away from the edge. "Less complaining, more biting! This one's spicy!" the metallic voice cackles, chomping on fire salts.

<OOC> Aelwyn says, "I'll fivefoot and full round it then. Now that I can see straight. ._."
Aelwyn rolls Flaming Glaive +1 (Attack): 27 -- Damage 6
Aelwyn rolls Flaming Glaive +1 (Attack): 15 (Miss)

Aelwyn squish. That was one end to the performance of his. When the fire elemental raises his hand, there lay the Dragoon, bloodied and - more than usual - sizzling hot. He weakly lifts up his tail. "... a blade like one's body, and when it sings-" There's a long groan as he shifts over his side, watching the elemental disappear.

"Ugh. This one feels this could have gone better." Aelwyn rumbles, looking at the wide gaps left in the creatures' wake.

<OOC> Andelena says, "5 ft step, expending 2nd level spell slot to cure moderate wounds on self."
Andelena rolls 2d8+6: 11

Andelena steps back and heals herself, sighing softly as the melee rages. It soothes the worst of her own extensive injuries. She seems intent on stepping forward to heal Skielstregar next--and then the man finishes off combat with the elemental.

"Hey Skiel," she says. "Aelwyn, too. Let me get the both of you, yeah?" She steps forward to tend to Aelwyn first as his injuries are the worst.

<OOC> Schara says, "move and load pistol with malicious intnet"

Schara is torn between firing another ray at the remaining elemental, or preserving what is left for the charn mages who will likely attempt to burn them to death when found. The artificer decides that the others will manage, and she instead takes a moment to get closer to the new platform while quickly loading a new round into the weapon in her arm. "It is unpleasant, but do not allow it to make you lose focus! Even if there are other things which are trying to do so." The artificer rambles loudly, taking a glance at the cleric healing themselves and back to the elemental.

Huge Fire Elemental Slams (Attack) Skielstregar: 27 -- Damage 6
Huge Fire Elemental Slams (Attack) Aelwyn: 23 -- Damage 12
Skielstregar rolls Reflex Saving Throw: 25
Aelwyn rolls Reflex Saving Throw: 25

The last remaining Fire Elemental is still up, taking on the terrible assault from Skielstregar. It backs off just slightly, while swinging at Skielstregar and Aelwyn. Slamming Skielstregar back slightly before squishing Aelwyn beneath its hand. His scales barely resisting the flames of the huge fire elemental as it lifts its hand to check if it squished Aelwyn yet.

Rune rolls Acrobatics (Jump): 35
Rune rolls Acrobatics (Tumble): 31
Rune rolls Acid Short Sword +1 (Acid Sword): 21 -- Damage 11

Seeing the remaining enemy rip into Aelwyn, there is a tense look that passes Rune's face. There's a real fear of seeing her friend go down. Her hand hesitates at her side, as if she were about to reach for something, but when Aelwyn remains on his feet, barely, Rune dives forward and ducks underneath the swipe of the Elemental and then slashes out.

There is a hiss of acid against fire before the monster goes down. "You alright?" She asks, "I've got a potion if you need it." She offers, looking concerned. Rune obviously has no magic to throw into the mix to help her allies.

Skielstregar rolls Malefic (+1 Called/Omnious Halberd) (Attack): 38 -- Damage 28

Forgotten Skielstregar weathers one more hit, him hissing as a knee buckles. Schara was right, can't lose focus! Even with Aelwyn being sizzled! The silverscale roars, slamming back the elemental with his halberd before spinning once on the spot and two handed batting at the looming with with Malefic.

"FIVE!" MONCH!

And it is scattered to nothing. The Forgotten affects fade away as Skiel stumbles back, falling onto his rear and panting out plumes of cold. "... good. ... good."

As the last Fire Elemental is torn apart by Rune, acid hissing away its last ties to the Material Plane, it poofs and disappears, leaving the chamber more quiet. Aside from the roiling lava underneath the crumbling floors.

<OOC> Andelena says, "Expending another 2nd level spell slot for Cure Moderate Wounds on Ael."
Andelena rolls 2d8+6: 16
<OOC> Andelena says, "Gonna convert a 3rd level spell into Cure Serious Wounds for Skiel."
Andelena rolls 3d8+6: 26
Andelena rolls Channel Energy: 12

Aelwyn waves his hand at Rune, rumbling in amusement. "This one carries his own. Coin for life can sometimes be a very easy trade, is it not?" A bloody, cheek splitting grin, with smoke coming from the sides of his teeth. Skielstregar gets another amused look from him. "Fire and ice, their blades in unison - something poetic in our fight, was there not?"

When he gets healed by Andalena, the Dragoon bows deeply. "This one is in their debt, once again." And he thumps his tail onto the ground. "Let us discuss return favor once we have cleaned this place."

Rune rolls Perception: 20

Once it seems certain that most of her allies are patched up ond healed by the grace of Andelena's magic, Rune seems to let out a breath of relief. She gathers with the others, but takes a moment to listen in the distance, one ear cocked as she looks around.

"I don't hear any more of them nearby, but that doesn't mean there won't be any in that room to the North." Looking between Shara and Skielstregar, "We should be able to get through most of this room with your help. We should... probably get moving if we can."

"No favor needed, I'm doing my job," Andelena replies, "although one more fight like that and I'm going to be out of everything I can muster for healing."

She pats the hilt of Deliverance, which she sheathed to heal the others, and she frowns. "One more," she murmurs. "Daeus, Shining Knight, hear my prayer for healing and aid."

The Knight answers her prayer, and holy magic washes over herself and her allies, closing up more wounds. Andelena herself looks refreshed, and she sighs. "Let's go."

"Alright, that is good that you can heal others. It is not always a guarantee with daeusites." The artificer states bluntly as the others gather. "Thank you is what I mean to say, Skielstregar, Aelwyn, are you both alright after all of that? I have further healing if needed, but it is limited. I am glad you are both alright though, we should find somewhere more stable, yes, in case the floor collapses further here."

The healing from Andelena makes Skielstregar shudder at first, looking uncomfortable, but that soon sloughs off as he affixes her with a thankful expression. His tail almost thumps the ground, but he thinks better of it. "Much appreciated, Sissster," he rumbles, staggering to his feet as he shakes himself off. Those eerie bone spars still click and clank, flexing at odd angles, ready to spear into stone.

He nods towards Schara, quirking a brow at their word choice. "Sssa. Thiss... thisss one isss fine. But like Warrior Andelena, thisss one hasss... maybe one or two more fightsss like that in them. But we press on."

As the group moves on, they spider climb and leap across the remaining pieces of fragile floor. Rune easily keeping up while Schara and Skielstregar aid with the climbing side of things. Heavy armor makes for a bad companion when it comes to traversing like this. Making it to a more north-eastern chamber, until finally... before them, a door once more bars the way. This one is locked.

Aelwyn raises his glaive and shakes his head. "This one is quite fine now. He touches his bruised and at parts darkened scales, stretching his body for Schara and others to see. "Sister indeed, is very well adept at healing."

Following on after the others on the Skiel-express - a strange concept that he processes in quiet - until they finally find their way across. "Hmmh." He breathes out, in obvious disappointment. "More traps, fire or naked mages?"

Rune rolls Disable Device: 37

There is a momentary look that Rune gives towrads Schara, but she just blinks and focuses on the task of getting through the lava-filled room.

Thankfully, it isn't so difficult given the spell abilities of her allies. At the end of the stone path, however, there is a locked door. "Just give me a minute." Swords are sheathed in favor of her tools and Rune spends a bit crouched down, one ear against the lock, working through the tumblers until there is a click that allows them inside. Pushing the door open, she invites the others in first.

When Rune unlocks the door, and they step in, it's a large hallway. One that clearly is being used right now for some equipment storage. Far to the west, they see a series of chests gathering cobwebs. To the north, another door... and sounds beyond it.

Andelena rolls Perception: 26
Rune rolls Perception: 32
Skielstregar rolls Perception: 24
Schara rolls Perception: 14
Aelwyn rolls Perception: 12

"I don't know what Daeusites you've interacted with in the past, but Compassion's one of our values," Andelena replies to Schara, a sort of unhappy cast in her words and her face. "Forget Compassion and the whole notion of Justice becomes a slippery slope where you punish people only by the word. Life ain't like that. Otherwise all the thieves in the world who steal to feed themselves when the world's unjust to them--it's unfair to punish them like any other thief."

She shakes her head. "All I do is try to care for the people," she says more quietly as they approach. The sound of voices causes her to fall silent as she goes to follow behind Rune closely.

Skielsstregar nods along with Andelena's mantra of the Sun Lord, but not really adding to it as he's focusing on looking out and beyond. As they step into the hallway with the chests at the end of the way, his head quirks to the side. Without a word, he holds a finger up to his maw and points to the door, the leather scrunching on Malefic's haft as he grips tighter, advancing with Rune.

Malefic's jagged grin is naught but a thin line.

The moment that they enter the room, something catch's Rune's hearing. Her ear twitches and ... the look that passes on her face is one of anger. "Oh fuck no." She whispers to herself.

Looking to the others, she explains in a hushed voice, "They're going to go after the kid that survived in Akochilistli Kuauhtla, because he's immune." If it weren't for the locked door on the other side, her blades would be out, ready to rush in. Instead, she mutters under her breath as she works on trying to quietly pick the lock.

A quiet click follows, and Rune tucks her tools away before reaching for her weapons, nodding to the others.

"One is more than enough to be seen." The artificer sighs to themselves. "Consider telling your order to excommunicate one near the mythwood sometime, but regardless, such frustrations are useless and actively hamper the work here to dwell on for myself, so I will ignore them for the time being."

Schara quiets as they near the door, and waits impatiently as the door is picked open.

The moment that Rune hears that click and puts her hand on the handle of the door, there's a sudden loud song.

BOOOOOOOONGGGGGG

BONNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG

Like a set of metalic bells going off, loudly announcing their presence. There's quick sounds behind the door. "Intruders!" They can clearly hear!

Opening the doors, already caught, they can see the chambers beyond.

A gorgeous but ominous blue portal on the far side, with a feminine Charnite speaking to another one on 'this side' of the portal. The feminine Charnite looks rich and well fed in outline, but her face is completely obscured.

The one on this side looks more pale, already turning around. "Kill the intruders!" He commands the four Forgotten in the chamber, which quickly rush towards the door.

<OOC> Rune says, "Rune will charge and stab the closest one."
Rune rolls Acid Short Sword +1 (Acid Sword): 20 - Damage: 5

The sound of the alarm going off causes Rune give a string of colorful curses. Clearly, she'd missed something when checking the door. However, there is no time to dwell on those mistakes. Instead, she rushes into the room to be faced with magic and more Forgotten.

With a sound of frustration and rage of her own, that is quite a bit less intimidating than what Skielstregar can manage, she rushes forward towards the nearest of the Forgotten, jabbing it with one of her blades. "Take them down fast!"

<OOC> Schara says, "dragging Aelwyn as far west as I can go"
<OOC> Schara says, "that's it for me, also activating titan armor for +4 dex"
Charn Mage casts Fireball: DC 16 - Damage: 21
Andelena rolls Reflex Save: 18 (Half Damage)
Skielstregar rolls Reflex Save: 18 (Half Damage)

Schara winces with the alarm, but the artificer shakes her head. "It can not be helped and is my fault for not checking for magical phenomenon. I am sorry." Schara states as she watches the door open, and seeing the mage on the other side, they freeze up. "EVERYONE SPLIT UP NOW!" They half scream, their armor whirring madly for a moment after a switch is flipped, the elf grabbing one of Aelwyn's arms and dragging the dragoon bodily away from the others.

Schara is wise to grab Aelwyn and pull him to the west of the chambers. Pulling him out of the way just in time as a Fireball detonates right past Rune's shoulder, and onto Skielstregar and Andelena's position! An eruption of fire BURSTING apart rock and shattering pieces of stone!

<OOC> Aelwyn says, "I will charge the forgotten too. ._."
Aelwyn rolls Flaming Glaive +1 (Attack): 10 (Miss)
<OOC> Aelwyn uses a free re-roll.
Aelwyn rolls Flaming Glaive +1 (Attack): 25 -- Damage 12

Aelwyn's brows would lift (if he had any such emotions), but then the alarms ring. A familiar curse word in draconic slips his mouth as he rushes into the room, to try and get into position - before Schara suddenly drags him. "Wh-f-Brass-" He starts as he is just... dragged. The fiery explosion behind him explains it.

"Free meal and massage?!" The Dragoon offers to Schara, before he rushes to attack the forgotten as well, spearing into it with his glaive.

Forgotten Claws Rune: 25 -- Damage 11
<OOC> Andelena says, "Charging at Forgotten, getting flank, and then making attack. Power Attack + Furious Focus"
Andelena rolls Deliverance (Attack)+Charge: 24 - Damage: 14

Having been singed again by a fireball, Andelena looks very unhappy. Her steel-gray eyes narrow onto one of the Forgotten, and she draws Deliverance from the sheath, charging forward and delivering a solid blow against the unhinged creature.

"We stand together!" she bellows to her allies.

Forgotten Claws Rune: 31 -- Damage 9

The Forgotten rush forward, assauling Rune, surrounding her on all sides. Biting, tearing at her. Trying to get at her legs. One of them turning away from Rune and assaulting Aelwyn, the Forgotten jumping onto the Sith-makar to try and push him down and eat him. "Hungry! Scales! Dragon! Eat!"

<OOC> Skielstregar says, "cast expieidtious retreat, get mad and approach mage with viscious intent"
Skielstregar casts Expeditious Retreat.
Skielstregar activates BLOODRAGE: RAWR
Forgotten Claws Aelwyn: 26 -- Damage 11
Forgotten Bite Aelwyn: 19 -- Damage 8
Aelwyn rolls Fortitude Save: 9 (Fail)

The alarm blaring gets Skielstregar to move his ice cube rear, him ducking in after Rune and bringing his weapon to bear. "Dragonfather'sss jusss... tice.." His weapon dips lower, an unreadable, empty glaze on his face. Old memories flash by: hunger, pain, rip, tear, shred, blood, hunger, death, consume, hunger.

He's engulfed in flame. They lick away to reveal another Forgotten in the room. Overflowing brackish miasma pooling around his ankles. Leaking from his maw and arms. "I WILL TEAR YOU LIMB FROM LIMB YOU CRAVEN, HATCHLING SNATCHER!"

"Give me your ANKLES!" Malefic bellows in tandem as the miasma sticks to his legs, making his strides longer and wider as he all but gallops towards the mage.

Rune rolls Acid Short Sword +1 (Acid Sword): 19 - Damage: 20
Rune rolls Short Sword +1 (Attack): 16 (Miss)
Rune rolls Short Sword +1 (Attack): 24 - Damage: 10

There are reasons that rushing forward into the fray is not always the smartest idea, but right now, it is clear that Rune isn't thinking as clearly as she might otherwise. The threat to a child has her fuming, despite the claws that come her way from the Forgotten. She snarls back towards them in a very Makari-like challenge.

Turning as she is nearly surrounded, there is a look of relief as Andelena comes to flank one of her enemies. "Perfect." The distraction that she offers is enough to allow Rune to attack the Forgotten from behind, multiple blades slicing into flesh and eventually bringing the one between her and Andelena down.

Schara casts Expeditious Retreat.

Schara looks at the swarm of forgotten, and her allies there, and back to Skielstregar and the mage further in. "I'll help him with the mage, take care!" She tells the others while pulling a concerningly large needle out of one of the pouches that is jabbed into a soft part of their armor on the side where it glows for a brief moment before being tossed aside, as the artificer tears across the room, in the direction of the mage.

Charn Mage casts Black Tentacles.
Charn mage rolls Grapple: 15 (Miss)

The caster to the North, after casting his Fireball spell, quickly begins rushing northwards towards the portal. He then flicks his hand towards Skielstregar who is rushing towards him, causing a sudden massive field of black rubbery tentacles to spring up beneath him. Trying to grab at him, but failing to quite get a hold of the pale semi-Forgotten Sith-makar!

Aelwyn rolls Flaming Glaive +1 (Attack): 23 -- Damage 16

Aelwyn attempts to once again dodge his enemies - but his particular style of fighting is obviously bad fit at being... just charged and clawed at. Snarling as he attempts to fight of the Forgotten, he gets bit.

There's a moment of pause as he flexes his own mouth open in response - but he stumbles back. "I don't..." He begins in Draconic, but his body moves in its own accord. Slicing from above; tearing chunks into the Forgotten and with the blade slicing away deep from its nearly dead carcass. "Why don't you _DIE_." Row and row of sharp teeth cover his snouth.

<OOC> Andelena says, "Gonna walk over to Ael and convert her last 2nd level spell slot to Cure Moderate Wounds."
Andelena rolls 2d8+6: 15

When the Forgotten between her and Rune falls, Andelena turns her attention to Aelwyn. "Not letting you fall, bud, don't worry," she says, before she reaches out and murmurs a prayer of healing for the Knight's aid. Her prayer's answered, and holy magic flows into Aelwyn, knitting his wounds back together.

Forgotten Bite Schara: 15 (Miss)
Forgotten Bite Rune: 21 (Miss)
Forgotten Claw Rune: 15 (Miss)
<OOC> Skielstregar says, "skiel double moves"

Semi-Forgotten Skielstregar is harried by the tentacles that explode out, but he bats them aside as he jumps forward and out of the thicket. Once on solid ground, he rushes forward, crimson eyes glowing with mal-intent. "DON'T RUN! LOOK AT YOU'VE DONE! EXPERIENCE YOUR SINS INCARNATE!XN"

He slides to a halt right next to the mage on the edge of the portal. He pants, gouts of frozen air and ink pooling at the feat of the mage.

Rune rolls Short Sword +1 (Attack): 16 (Miss)

"Finish that one off, if you can. I'll try to make sure this one stays off of you both." Rune calls back, focusing her attention on the Forgotten who has been trying to claw and bite at her. She catches one of the bites with her blade, pushing the creature back with a grunt.

"We've got incoming!" She calls out, peeking over her shoulder. Then, with a lash of her blades, Rune manages to dig one of them deep into the upper chest of the former Makari. The other two, slashes, however, glance off the armor and scales.

<OOC> Schara says, "okay, full round disengage, moving up to the mage where Skiel is"

Schara finds herself struck by one of the forgotten, but her armor holds strong, and the artificer is able to dodge away from the creature, as she continues sprinting towards the mage. "You could give up. But you know nothing but hatred and violence. You deserve to die to save so many others, and I do not have the time to make sure Skielstregar will be merciful about it." The artificer states coldly as a large pair of pliers spring out from under their arm, pointed directly at the mage's neck.

The mage, entering the edge of the Portal, watches as Skielstregar continues to storm forward while some of his Forgotten are falling further south of him. To the west, a door opens and another Charn mage comes through asking; "What is going on? Why was there an..." Alarm, but it's obvious what is going on with the Adventurers rushing upon the Charnite mage at the portal.

"Leave me alone, Failure!" The mage answers Skielstregar with a loud hiss, glaring at him. "You have done enough damage to our supply-lines!" Speaking like some kind of man of mercantile more-so than as a mage. Starting to shimmer out of existence while the portal is refusing to touch Schara or Skielstregar!

Aelwyn rolls Flaming Glaive +1 (Attack): 16 (Miss)

Aelwyn pushes aside the Forgotten in front of him, barely alive, as he forces himself between Rune and Andelena. "Corpses should not have such delicious moves," He rumbles. His blade swings down onto the other Forgotten Rune was struggling with, but doesn't manage to finish the creature off. "This one has a potion left for those bitten."

Andelena rolls Deliverance (Attack): 23 -- Damage: 17

Time to clean up what's left. Andelena takes a look at the Forgotten that's on death's door, and she does the kind thing--the Compassionate thing. She lashes out at it with Deliverance, cutting the last of its life out.

A little sigh leaves her, and she moves away from the corpse she's just made to join Rune in combat with the remaining Forgotten.

<OOC> Skielstregar is going to grapple da mage
Skielstregar Grapples Charn Mage: 37

Nearly Forgotten Skielstregar lunges forward as he sees the mage start to fade away. "No you don't!" he snarls, slamming them up against the side of the portal. He himself starts to dematerialize.

He pauses. And briefly, what separates him from the Forgotten attempting to down his friends, a moment of alacrity strikes him.

He tosses Malefic to the side. "Yesss. Take me with you! Take me to where I can SHRED THIS WRETCHED SCHEME AND BURN IT WITH HOLY FIRE!"

Rune rolls Acid Short Sword +1 (Acid Sword): 18 - Damage: 29
Rune rolls Acid Short Sword +1 (Acid Sword): 21 - Damage: 12
Rune rolls Short Sword +1 (Attack): 21 - Damage: 6

With the Forgotten starting to fall around her, Rune continues to try to focus on those who have the least injuries, trying to make sure to cripple and slow them down as much as possible so they can do less damage to her allies.

The one that had been chasing Shara looms in behind her, so Rune turns and lashes out, blade flashing towards the creature's face causing it to flinch backward and leave its throat open for a strike that slits clean across it. The following two blades come in afterwards, jabbing nito the chest before she kicks the Forgotten backwards off of her blades.

Charn Mage casts Black Tentacles.
Aelwyn rolls Flaming Glaive +1 (Attack) AoO: 24 -- Damage: 17
Skielstregar rolls Perception: 27
<OOC> Skielstregar says, "skiel lets go due to seeing some shit^tm in the other room"

The moment Skielstregar grabs onto the Charnite mage in the Portal, he too begins to feel the moving power of the portal. Slowly starting to grab him. Schara and the rest can see him go translucent like the mage. Being pulled away!

He stares at Skielstregar, grinning. "Very well. Then this time, the Experiments will continue. This time, you will not escape us, Failure." The mage answers Skielstregar... as he grabs him back.

A flash, for Skielstregar. The eyes of this man grinning at him. The subtle stubble, looking like a beard. This man is more emaciated now than he was back then. But there's recognition!

And the moment Skielstregar lets go, the man... disappears.

And with that, the portal closes. The blue ripple of light pulling inwards with the Charnite mage, and flashing into nothingness.

<OOC> Aelwyn says, "Five foot and finish off the forgotten this time around. ._."
Aelwyn rolls Flaming Glaive +1 (Attack): 18 (Miss)
Aelwyn rolls Flaming Glaive +1 (Attack): 18 (Miss)

When the mage begins to... well, do anything, Aelwyn's blade slides down and smacks down hard on those hands, flame bursting. "Not today, filth." He sneers.

With a step, he slides back around Rune. "Tch, there is not enough death in here." The Dragoon rumbles as he attempts to nail down the last of the Forgotten, to the little success. There was obvious frustration in his face, even more beyond just failing to connect with his strikes.

<OOC> Andelena says, "Andie is on cleanup duty again. Full attack, power attack, furious focus."
Andelena rolls Deliverance (Attack): 22 -- Damage: 16
Andelena rolls Deliverance (Attack): 6 (Miss)

When Aelwyn doesn't connect, Andelena cuts in with her own answer to the remaining Forgotten. Deliverance dives in through the chest, and Andelena huffs as she pulls the blade free of the Forgotten's lifeless form. "Taken care of," she says, before she looks at the mages that are remaining in combat.

"Just about, anyway," she adds onto that, readying herself to move and strike.

Skielstregar rolls Malefic (+1 Called/Omnious Halberd) (Attack): 23 -- Damage 27
Charnite Mage is Shaken for 5 rounds due to undead bloodline.

Forgotten Skielstregar's attention shifts to the other room coming into reality. Crimson, furious eyes looking to the walls. The other mages. A familiar air about the place. His gaze rests on something in particular.

Then the mage is talking. His memories flashing to a vague something else. "... I am not a failure. You were successful. But thisss time your success will get you killed." He throws them into the room, turning his back on it before he holds a hand out as he spies another mage coming in. "Malefic!"

The weapon suddenly melts into a pool and reforms into his hands. "I'm here!"

The silverscale barrels down the room at breakneck speed, a terrible experiment turned on its creators as he viscously slams the halberd down into the Charneth mage.

Rune rolls Bluff: 31
Rune rolls Acid Short Sword +1 (Acid Sword): 21 - Damage: 24
Rune rolls Acid Short Sword +1 (Acid Sword): 10 (Miss)
Rune rolls Short Sword +1 (Attack): 10 (Miss)

The sight of a mage arriving close by is enough to put Rune on the defensive. She turns in his direction, just in time to see Aelwyn knock the spell right out of his hands. "Perfect. Let's show this one a little of the pain they've brought on others, yes?"

Stalking forward, her expression is quite serious as one blade lashes towards the mage's hand, causing them to flinch back from the blow. However, that puts them right in the path of her second sword, which digs a deep cut into the mage's side. Unfortunately for Rune, the mage pulls back to protect himself after that, causing her other blows to go wide.

Charn Mage uses Acid Arrow on Rune: 16 (Miss)
Charn Mage uses Mirror Image: 3 Images.

The two remaining mages, now that the Forgotten are dispatched, are starting to get worried. Between Skielstregar charging one, and Aelwyn starting the other's casting, they grimace. Especially as the portal closes, leaving them behind.

They steel themselves for what comes next. The one near Rune backing up, trying to send an Acid Splash her direction, but it flashes past her. The one near Skielstregar instead summoning three mirror images around them in the hopes of protecting against him.

Schara turns around as Skielstregar reappears, and charges back past her. The titan grips proving not effective at the moment, Schara takes a moment to spring them back into place as she runs closer towards the remaining mages.

Aelwyn rolls Flaming Glaive +1 (Attack): 19 - Damage: 15

"Let me at him," Aelwyn says, "I'll bite his face off." He flashes his teeth in intimidating fashion - blood stuck on his sharp extrusions. His flaming glaive sways in the air and brings down its fiery fury, trying to catch the mage.

<OOC> Andelena says, "Andie will also walk forward to smack. PA+FF"
Andelena rolls Deliverance (Attack): 15 (Miss)

When Aelwyn doesn't have success with the mage, Andelena steps forward to try and finish the job, but unlike the last attack--hers goes wide, and Andelena growls in frustration. "Alright fucker, stand _still_," she demands. Not that the mage is inclined to obey her, but a girl's gotta vent somehow.

Skielstregar rolls Malefic (+1 Called/Omnious Halberd) (Attack): 29 (Misses due to Mirror Image)
Skielstregar rolls Malefic (+1 Called/Omnious Halberd) (Attack): 19 (Misses due to Mirror Image)

Forgotten Skiel snarls as the mage steps back, making more images of themselves. "Good trick. Thisss one can do it to. You are only delaying the inevitable."

Malefic comes swinging down. One image down. "Three!" Swing. Another illusion shatters. "Twoooooo~!"

That halberd can't wait to reach zero.

Rune rolls Acid Short Sword +1 (Acid Sword): 19 - Damage: 23

Seeing the others turn to the mage, it is only a matter of moments before their blood will join that of the Forgotten on the floor. "I've got this." She tells the others, stalking forward and doing one quick motion of her blades, causing the mage to raise their hands in defense.

In one swift motion, Rune stabs her blade deep into his chest, causing him to topple forward when she withdraws it. "Fuck these guys..."

Schara rolls Death Ray (Death Ray): 23 - Damage 17
Charn Mage takes 5ft step, casts Dimension Door.

The mage across from Skielstregar is clearly freaking out. He really doesn't want to be caught (literally) dead in this situation. Especially as he hears his ally being slain not moments later near Rune!

He thinks about the situation for one last moment...

And then steps back and Dimension doors the heck out of there!

Leaving a quiet chamber.

"Nah, they'd enjoy it too much," Andelena replies to Rune, taking a deep breath as the melee's now suddenly over. She cleans her blade. "Okay. How hurt are we looking, everyone? I'm not on the verge of dying but I've felt better."

She looks around. "And Skielstregar? You especially, bud. How're you holding up over there?" Concern's written all over her face for her friend in Daeus.

Aelwyn starts to stumble forward past Rune, glaive in hand, as he sees the last of the mages disappear. A sound akin to frustration leaves him, but then he breathes in deep. And then takes another deep breath.

Breathe.

Finally, his eyes open and he scans the room, trying to parse together what actually transpired. "... this one needs a drink." He finally answers Andelena. The Dragoon reaches into his satchel and offers a very suspicious look bottle to her. "For the wounds."

Skielstregar staggers a step forward as the mage starts to get ready to vacate. "You craven piece of refussse--!" And they're gone.

He fumes at the empty space, trembling on the spot as his fists are clenched so tight brackish blood drips from his grip on Malefic. It looks like he's about to take whatever it is out on the floor, but his name being called out stymies him. Crimson eyes rest on his Sister in light. "Terrible. I hate this place with every fiber of my being," he answers, the Forgotten affects abating and receding. But his eyes don't return back to that dead silver hue.

He sags. "... these are the onesss..." A long sigh. "... thessse are the one'sss that did thisss to me."

Schara flips back out the death ray, and the coils glow a bright white as the artificer takes aim and sends out a gout of flame in their direction. Judging by the reaction and rather unpleasant smell, she did not hit an illusion. But before they can take aim again, the mage is gone. "They can not have gone far." The artificer states, but she stops, and turns off the whirring of their armor as plates shift back into their standard configuration, leaving Schara nearly doubled over. "This place should not exist. Once we are done, it should be destroyed. I am sorry I could not stop him, Skielstregar." Schara states after catching her breath slightly. "Is everyone else alright? Aelwyn, are you okay?"
