A signal was given. Not the signal they expected. But the signal of a 'rogue sorcerer' who had gone to check out rumors of this Ravener, and managed to find it in the midst of awakening.
  +
  +
Details were sparse, but information was passed on through a communication! Fiends or Devils had taken hold of this great being, and now instead of coming at the massive city, it is chasing Telamon.
  +
  +
The evil within is trying to re-establish control over the Ravener, and no doubt bolstering it. So while Telamon and some of his allies take on the Ravener itself and try to lull it back into dormancy... a small group of others are asked to take care of the fiends.
  +
  +
It is those allies that are now flying on Thunderlizards towards what is by all means a 'flying mountain'. The Pterodactyls let out fierce cries, and pull against the reins of Rune's, Seyardu's, and Skielstregar's. They have trouble keeping the beasts under control as they get this close to the massive moving mountain. To their east they see Telamon's reinforcements approaching, while to the Southwest, they see Telamon being chased. But their goal is upon the massive turtle-like Behemoth's back! The literal caves set into its back allow them to come down and land on what looks to be a ridge.
  +
  +
But the moment they dismount, the Pterodactyls, as it is colloquially refered to as, 'run the fuck away'.

It was finally time to set out.
  +
  +
After a handful of failures to get an edge over the Charneth and fiendish incursion, Skielstregar's enthusiasm to defend a holy site has bled and morphed into a quiet, focused anger. One hand yanks at the reins to keep the Thunderlizard in check, another holding Malefic like a lance. Several other images of Skielstregar are on the beast, hanging from various limbs or riding in the saddle with him, but all are honed in on the caves below on the beast's back.
  +
  +
A sight that he could finally see as they draw close through the pouring and buffeting rain. His eyes widen, narrow, and wrangles the mount to dive to land. Hopping off, he stumbles a bit from the beast moving, eyes gleam crimson as black ichor seeps over gold painted silver scales in draconic runes. The fleeing Pterodactyls are watched as they flee. He chuffs, the rain pattering against him turning into ice that sloughs off from the misama. Wordlessly, he gives Malefic a wrapped packaged.

  +
The weapon bites down with glee and viscously shakes, getting the weapon blanch across its blade.
  +
  +
He deeply inhales. "We're ready." "We're READY!"
  +
  +
There is a certain rush that comes from being called into battle from her evening meal. That rush is soon dampened, in more ways than one, by having to fly a misbehaving lizard into battle through a storm that is pissing down rain. The fact that it is dark enough she can only barely see the lizard in front of her doesn't help, either. It's all navigation by lights in the distance, barely visible through the murk.
  +
  +
Once they've landed atop the creature, it is a matter of balance to keep herself steady with the movement. She draws out one blade, using the other to keep her footing as she watches their 'rides' take off into the night sky. "Cowards." She can't really blame them, though.
  +
  +
Turning to Skielstregar, the rogue pushes some damp strands out of her eyes and reaches for her other blade, trying to shake off the pre-battle nerves. "Ready as I'll ever be. Not that someone can ever be ready for... this."
  +
  +
Seyardu had not been expecting to be on a journey through Am'shere in the middle of a rain storm, but it seemed that they were needed rather suddenly. Thankfully, the thunderlizard does not need too much guidance to follow the others, as the cleric's already limited vision was not helped by the downpour.
  +
  +
The cleric makes a few odd movements dismounting onto the back of the creature, several steps that look as if they are stumbling, only to be jerked back into a steady stance.
  +
  +
"Do not worry about that, I will transport us out of here, when it is necessary to do so. Better they return to aid others if necessary." Seyardu notes, glancing to the others. "We are not ready, or as ready as we could be." They warn. "Likely fiends, and we must be careful. Everyone close, I will do what I can to keep everyone safe, yes? I am technically your older sister now after all, Skielstregar."

ROOOOOOOOOOEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
  +
  +
The violent roar of the beast they stand upon calls out, and the earth beneath them trembles and shakes. They are, by no means, on stable ground. Ahead of them, a cave which /reeks/ of evil. Even one as little touched by magics as Rune can feel it. Like the darkness itself were trying to flee from the cavern, spreading out before it.
  +
  +
As the group heads inside, they soon are met with a strange pulsing echoing BEAT that sounds from beyonds. As well as the annoying sounds like buzzing wings and rippling insects. Though they do not currently see the source to any of those.
  +

It's pitch-black dark in here.

Skielstregar traces a few sigils in the air before letting a dome of black pop around him. And another, as he inhales deeply before coating himself, Rune, and his sister Seyardu in a haze of black fog. It's an unpleasant smell, as it fades away, the acrid tinge of iron is like a homing call. "Sssorry, but we need everything we can get for thisss," Skiel rolls his shoulders, looking back to the two. "No one issss ever ready, Warrior Rune. But we are here."
  +
  +
His sister's quip gets a nervous laugh out of him. "Sssa. You are, ssssister. Thank you for your blesssingsss, Celesstial Mother-"
  +
  +
The Warrior grasps at the sides of his head from the roar, grimacing in pain before he shaking his head, inner ears ringing. Not needing any affirmation, the many vestiges of Skielstregar take point, leading the way for the others.
  +
  +
His head swivels from side to side as they delve into the cave. "Thiss one smelss blood and.." his head cocks to the side, "Buzzing?" He turns to the right, Malefic held in the direction. The weapon lowly growls.

As they step into the cave, there is a shiver that runs down Rune's spine as the darkness of night gives in to the darkness of whatever lies within this monstrous creature. The ground still lurches beneath her with each step, but she seems to be getting used to the motion.
  +
  +
She isn't completely without sight, but she certainly doesn't have the vision of a Makari. So, Rune has to rely on other senses as she steps forward to follow Skielstregar, her weapons still raised defensively.
  +
  +
As Skielstregar turns to the right, so does Rune, her eyes narrowing. "I'm picking up movement. At least two... big ones, too." She squints into the dim light. "I should be able to see at least the closer one, but..."
  +
  +
With a glance to the others, she adds, "Invisibility magic, perhaps? Whatever it is, they're definitely straight ahead of Skielstregar." She motions the same direction that they both were looking.

From the darkness, the buzzing gets closer and closer. Suddenly, from invisibility, two Bone Devils attack Skielstregar. Using their viscious bone-like stingers to tear at his scales. And while the first misses, the second almost manages to sink in their tail. Luckily for Skielstregar, his mirror image is what it targetted.

But before he can properly retaliate, they suddenly disappear from visibility again!

"Great, just what we need, invisible enemies." Rune mutters to herself, just in time to get an eyeful of just what sort of fiends they are facing. The problem is, the creatures are horrific. "What kind of deranged mind thought up these things?" She asks herself, even while watching Skielstregar back from the attacks. "If I didn't already have nightmares, I'd have them now."
  +
  +
That said, the rogue moves to swipe her blade at one of the visible enemies, taking the opportunity while she has the chance. It is likely they will turn invisible again, but any damage is a good thing. "Let's keep our ears open, incase there are more incoming." She warns them.

Only for their foes to be hidden in plane sight. "An ambush! Bone devils, Fire and poison do nothing, acid and cold are less effective." The cleric warns. "And an aura of fear I will do my best to bolster against! Celestial mother, bathe us in your divine radiance, and give us the strength to push back these foes!" The cleric prays, causing the air to shimmmer brightly around her allies. <Draconic>

The moment Seyardu's Holy Aura comes up, the one that has been invisible for a while now immediately moves to assault Seyardu. Striking with its claws, its biting attack. But only its stinger finds purchase. The retaliating power of the Holy Aura immediately blinding the creature!

The other one, seeing this assault, quickly tries to get away. Rune quickly nailing it before it gets through the halls and erects a large Ice Wall to block the Adventurers' path, and then goes invisible once more. The sound is too dull to track it beyond that.

There is a certain frustration that comes from being in a situation where your particular set of skills is all but useless. Without being able to properly see the enemy, it puts Rune at a significant disadvantage. The fact that the only one she could see vanished behind a wall before she had a chance to find weak points leaves her brow furrowed in irritation.
  +

"Would if I could, my friend, but maybe I can distract it a bit." She moves into position to the opposite side of Skielstregar, sweeping her blade through and impacting little more than thin air. At the very least, the threat of the blade may just be enough to draw the creature's attention and give her Makari ally an opening.

It seems that her distraction had proved effective, as the creature turns attention in her direction. Thankfully, it seems to have forgotten that she is far shorter than the Makari and both attacks miss before they have a chance to get close.
  +

However, the monster making itself visible is just what she needs. "Keep it distracted for a moment from your side." She calls to the silver-scaled one, and then moves to utilize Seyardu's magic and attack with a flurry of blades that is enhanced enough that all but the final, slowest one is nearly invisible, themselves.

As the group moves towards the West, they start hearing... different noises. In addition to the buzzing of wings vaguely behind the icewall, there's roaring sounds that almost sound like metal sliding over... magma?

"Got it!" Skiel replies to Rune, taking the flat of Malefic and smacking against the side of the beast. "HEY! YOUR BONESSS ARE DEFECIENT!"

"Oh wow, that's kind of rude, hatchling."

Just enough of a distraction as Rune emerges victorious! Skiel gives a snarling smile. "Sssa! Let it stink and rot! Come! We mussst give chassse!" Galloping off towards the wall of ice, the silverscale all but slams his whole body into it, using the polearm as a fulcrum to shatter a massive hole into it!

Seeing the two Makari go through the ice wall, Rune can already feel the chill coming off of it even from the distance. Giving it a skeptical look, the rogue seems to twitch an ear towards the West. "I'm going to scout a bit to the West. There's some kind of airflow, so it's worth checking out. I'll give a shout if I run into any trouble."
  +
  +
With that, the rogue seems to vanish into the shadows, disappearing from view, though not as completely as the monsters. She makes her way down the hallway, taking time to inspect the cobwebs before following further along the pathway, trying to keep to the alcoves and walls where she is out of sight.
  +

Skiel whips his head back at Rune's directive. "Uh- o-okay!" he says, clearly worried. "Pleassse be ssafe, thisss one trussts you!"

Shaking his head, he delves through the hole, ice gathering on his body once more as hide cracks from the sudden chill. He whips past his sister- "Finally taller than thisss one!" he quips before rounding around the corner and-

Crimson pupils go wide. "FOUND YOU!" he barks, grinning wickedly as he begins bounding down the hall.

"Are you certain? If you are, then just be careful and do not put yourself in a situation you can not escape from." Seyardu agrees with Skielstregar, following behind him further into the tunnel. There is a brief moment where Rune gets a good view of something that makes her inwardly curse. Her eyes sweep over what is obviously a ritual of some sort, and likely the exact thing they were looking to find. However, it is something that she isn't about to jump into alone.

Instead, her ear twitches at the sound of one of Skielstregar's shouts. She can get a directionality on it, and enough information to know that this passageway must connect back to wherever her allies have gone. So, sneaking through the shadows, Rune continues in that direction, hoping that at some point, her wayward passage will connect to wherever her friends are fighting.

Skielstregar slows for a moment, the flesh on his arms growing rocky. But there's a snarl as he flexes hard, Malefic biting off the stone as he yells. "THISSS ONE IS ICE, NOT STONE!" He whirls around and-

The Vat. It's open in the air. The other half of him yearns to be let out and let loose- but he can't, not now! Being like that plus catching that disease would.
  +

He turns back, and slams Malefic down into the back of the Bone Fiend, rending it! "Quick! Sister! Slay it! These thingsss in here- they are trying to turn thisss one into sstone!"

The large, much larger than usual cleric roars, pinning the bone devil to the ground with a swing of their polearm, nearly cleaving it entirely in two.

Then, pushing off from the stone, she launches herself towards one of the creatures, slashing out with her blade. It's only then that she confirms it was her friends they were attacking. "Hey guys!" Hearing the chanting grow closer, Rune curses again, this time in some colorful Draconic. "I don't think we have much longer before..." And that's when she can feel a wave of unholy energy impacting her from behind. Letting out a breath, she manages to shake off the worst of it. "That is why I called them a bitch..."

However, Rune has a more pressing enemy to deal with at the moment. She focuses on the Forge Fiend before her, laying into the blind creature without mercy. As Malefic crashes through the Cabal Devil's defenses, and Rune tears into her body, the creature quickly tries to lash out. She hisses and lets out swears in some devilish language, before backing up and using Greater Teleport to leave as fast as she can. Relinquishing the hold they had on the Ravener!
  +
  +
With the Devil defeated - or forced to flee rather, the group is able to fully explore the remainder of the caves. Deeper in, where Rune had already passed by in a hurry, they find a large set of blood pools that were being corrupted by the Devils here. A large hole that had been drilled down by the Forgefiends to get to the heart of the Ravener and force it to obey and awaken. And copious amounts of gold, gems, and the likes to be used for various rituals.

Forgotten Skiel gnashes as the creature vanishes with magic. "CRAAAVEN!" he bellows, leaping past Rune and sniffing the walls, floor, ceiling. "GRAAAH! I DON'T SMELL THEM! STUPID LITTLE FIENDS ALWAYS RUNNING AWAY, WHY CAN'T THEY FACE US WITH HONOR?!XN"

He storms into the room beyond, snarling and spittling everywhere. He sniffs around, half crawling and making frustrated sounds. "NOT HERE, NOT THERE, NOT ANYWHERE-"

Log Info

  • Title: Forgotten Blood Finale - The Cavern
  • Place: The Jungles of Am'Shere
  • Summary: The last vat left by the Charn has been found, upon the back of a literal Behemoth. Through the power of a Wish spell, Telamon has temporarily released the leash of this being, and is leading it away. At the same time, while it is on the move, a group has to climb onto its back to take out the ones within the 'Cave' upon its back. They cannot allow the Fiends to take back control. And they cannot allow someone to flee with the vat of Magical Disease.

A signal was given. Not the signal they expected. But the signal of a 'rogue sorcerer' who had gone to check out rumors of this Ravener, and managed to find it in the midst of awakening.

Details were sparse, but information was passed on through a communication! Fiends or Devils had taken hold of this great being, and now instead of coming at the massive city, it is chasing Telamon.

The evil within is trying to re-establish control over the Ravener, and no doubt bolstering it. So while Telamon and some of his allies take on the Ravener itself and try to lull it back into dormancy... a small group of others are asked to take care of the fiends.

But the moment they dismount, the Pterodactyls, as it is colloquially refered to as, 'run the fuck away'.

GAME: Rune used a Silversheen.
GAME: Skielstregar used a Silversheen.

It was finally time to set out.

The weapon bites down with glee and viscously shakes, getting the weapon blanch across its blade.

He deeply inhales. "We're ready." "We're READY!"

Once they've landed atop the creature, it is a matter of balance to keep herself steady with the movement. She draws out one blade, using the other to keep her footing as she watches their 'rides' take off into the night sky. "Cowards." She can't really blame them, though.

Turning to Skielstregar, the rogue pushes some damp strands out of her eyes and reaches for her other blade, trying to shake off the pre-battle nerves. "Ready as I'll ever be. Not that someone can ever be ready for... this."

Seyardu had not been expecting to be on a journey through Am'shere in the middle of a rain storm, but it seemed that they were needed rather suddenly. Thankfully, the thunderlizard does not need too much guidance to follow the others, as the cleric's already limited vision was not helped by the downpour.

The cleric makes a few odd movements dismounting onto the back of the creature, several steps that look as if they are stumbling, only to be jerked back into a steady stance.

We're Ready.

ROOOOOOOOOOEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

As the group heads inside, they soon are met with a strange pulsing echoing BEAT that sounds from beyonds. As well as the annoying sounds like buzzing wings and rippling insects. Though they do not currently see the source to any of those.

It's pitch-black dark in here.

GAME: Skielstregar rolls perception: (14)+15: 29

Skielstregar traces a few sigils in the air before letting a dome of black pop around him. And another, as he inhales deeply before coating himself, Rune, and his sister Seyardu in a haze of black fog. It's an unpleasant smell, as it fades away, the acrid tinge of iron is like a homing call. "Sssorry, but we need everything we can get for thisss," Skiel rolls his shoulders, looking back to the two. "No one issss ever ready, Warrior Rune. But we are here."

His sister's quip gets a nervous laugh out of him. "Sssa. You are, ssssister. Thank you for your blesssingsss, Celesstial Mother-"

The Warrior grasps at the sides of his head from the roar, grimacing in pain before he shaking his head, inner ears ringing. Not needing any affirmation, the many vestiges of Skielstregar take point, leading the way for the others.

His head swivels from side to side as they delve into the cave. "Thiss one smelss blood and.." his head cocks to the side, "Buzzing?" He turns to the right, Malefic held in the direction. The weapon lowly growls.

GAME: Rune rolls perception: (14)+26: 40

As they step into the cave, there is a shiver that runs down Rune's spine as the darkness of night gives in to the darkness of whatever lies within this monstrous creature. The ground still lurches beneath her with each step, but she seems to be getting used to the motion.

She isn't completely without sight, but she certainly doesn't have the vision of a Makari. So, Rune has to rely on other senses as she steps forward to follow Skielstregar, her weapons still raised defensively.

As Skielstregar turns to the right, so does Rune, her eyes narrowing. "I'm picking up movement. At least two... big ones, too." She squints into the dim light. "I should be able to see at least the closer one, but..."

That said, the rogue moves to swipe her blade at one of the visible enemies, taking the opportunity while she has the chance. It is likely they will turn invisible again, but any damage is a good thing. "Let's keep our ears open, incase there are more incoming." She warns them.

"We will get to the bottom of this, they are counting on us to assist." She offers as they continue further down.

<Draconic>

A spray of monster blood splatters across the pair as the creature falls, missing a few of those insectoid, bone-like appendages. "Ugh. It smells /horrible/." Rune isn't used to things stinking so much in death.

Come! We mussst give chassse!" Seeing the two Makari go through the ice wall, Rune can already feel the chill coming off of it even from the distance. Giving it a skeptical look, the rogue seems to twitch an ear towards the West. "I'm going to scout a bit to the West. There's some kind of airflow, so it's worth checking out. I'll give a shout if I run into any trouble."

With that, the rogue seems to vanish into the shadows, disappearing from view, though not as completely as the monsters. She makes her way down the hallway, taking time to inspect the cobwebs before following further along the pathway, trying to keep to the alcoves and walls where she is out of sight.

"Does it seek reinforcements continuing further down? I still know not what the rest of the noise is from." The cleric wonders.

She can get a directionality on it, and enough information to know that this passageway must connect back to wherever her allies have gone. Seyardu continues around the edge of the arena, and finally within range, the cleric stares down the pair of fiends. "Kneel." Seyardu growls in a booming voice, filled with some strange, unnatural strength, as the two fiends are left unable to see in front of theirselves.

As Seyardu and Skielstregar absolutely obliterate the Forgefiend to the east of the cave, a beautiful woman steps out. Her red tail lashing behind her, horns sticking through her hood. Staring at them and speaking in a language none of them understand. Suddenly, a black 'wave' of unholy energy ripples out from her position, flooding over Rune and Skielstregar.

Hearing the chanting grow closer, Rune curses again, this time in some colorful Draconic.

There is a eral point where it may very well have been dead but her blades continue to slash and slice until it lands with a splatter of blood and a clatter of metal.

Panting, the rogue turns, looking sight on individual she'd seen earlier, who is the obvious source of the spell cast on them.

After visciously chopping down one of the Forgefiends with his nest sister, Skiel turns to be enveloped in a powerful voice. One that makes his hide crawl from the light, but the fiends were left open!

And then the wave of unholy energy hits. Skiel falls to a knee, one hand clutching his head as brackish miasma pours from his maw. He snarls and snaps at himself. "WHY CAN'T WE JUST EAT THEM AND BE DONE WITH IT?!- NO WE CAN'T-YES-NO-YES-NO-SILENCE!"

He's a bit out of comission.

GAME: Seyardu casts Heal. Caster Level: 15 DC: 22

"Another?" Seyardu wonders, for not too long, as something seems to catch Rune and Skielstregar, stopping one of them in their tracks. "Get a hold of yourself, Skielstregar!" The cleric barks, patting them on the head with one oversized hand, and suffusing them with an excess of healing magic that mends their wounds in entirety, even restoring vigor to their muscles previously addled by the devil's magic.

The Holy Energy exerted by Seyardu has the Cabal Devil shrink away. Healing Skielstregar so easily from the foul unholy energies she exuded has her retreating. Lobbing a black-and-red Fireball at their position, with erupts violently. Splashing the Magical Diseased water into the area, but it fails to penetrate the Holy Aura of Seyardu's!

With Skielstregar clearly struggling from the effects of the spell, Rune turns towards the caster. At first, she can't see them, but then she notes the familiar warmth of a fireball and quickly dodges out of the way, avoiding the imapact of the flames. The spell reveals the caster, giving Rune a clear shot.

Charging forward with a roar of her own, she is caught by a dagger as she comes close, the blade cutting against her exposed arm. Rune barely acknowledges the pain other than a wince and a clenching of her teeth as she stabs one of her blades in to the creature's flesh.

Skiel's clarity comes from an aggressive amount of holy magic being poured into him. Burns and wounds close up and he gets to his feet. He stands unnaturally still, rigid. "He wants to say thank you," Malefic maws at Seyardu.

Then he turns into a cloud of black mist, emerging from it- massive and titanic, a Forgotten let loose and barreling- no, flying through the air! Dread escalates as Malefic slams into the fiend! "I WILL RIP YOU TO SHREDS FOR TOUCHING MY HOME CRAVEN!"

"Stop the devil, I will make sure the disease will cause no harm if this thing flails around again! Do not worry, I know it was of help." Seyardu shouts over, turning to the vat instead, and leaning just over the glowing liquid. "Celestial Mother, purify this plague, so no more will suffer under these fiends!" They pray, with the glow suddenly fading from the pool, and color leeching away as well, leaving an unpleasantly murky, but much less hazardous pool in it's wake.

<OOC> Harkashan says, "It casts Greater Teleport."

As Malefic crashes through the Cabal Devil's defenses, and Rune tears into her body, the creature quickly tries to lash out. Its dagger marking Rune, only for the flash of the Holy Aura to blind to creature. She hisses and lets out swears in some devilish language, before backing up and using Greater Teleport to leave as fast as she can. Relinquishing the hold they had on the Ravener!

Malefic bonks him on the head. He bites them. "Would you quit being a sour puss and look with your eyes and not your nose you obtuse ice brained hungry snack seeking hatchling," Malefic growls back.

Forgotten Skiel relents, taking in the room. "... oh." He pants. "... that's a lot of gold. And a ... wow, is that a heart?" The Forgotten effects recede. And he shrinks. "... good job, Shaman and Warrior. We did... it."

Skiel flops to the floor, spent.
