  • Title: Mul'niessa Secret of Heels
  • Emitter: Ravenstongue
  • Place: University District
  • Summary: Ravenstongue and Telamon are stumbling home drunk from a Shining Chalice-hosted Masquerade party when they run into Aryia, who's also celebrating in her own way. Ravenstongue complains about her failed attempt at lasting the night in the pair of high heels she purchased for the occasion, and Aryia demonstrates her superior command of walking in high heels--as, well, she walks in them backwards. Aryia then escorts them home safely.

University District, Masquerade evening.

The stars are out in the sky, and the misty evening brings a certain mood to the scene on this night of the Masquerade...

That would be nice for Cor'lana, if she wasn't currently holding onto a pair of high heels as she's cradled in her fiance's arms. Her ankles are bright red and she's still wearing her white-feathered masquerade mask, combined with the lovely black dress that Aryia had made for her some time ago.

"Tel, never let me wear high heels again," Cor'lana groans. "I almost broke my ankles five times--I'm amazed I didn't fall over!"

Telamon shakes his head, holding his fiancee surprisingly easily. He's dressed in an interesting ensemble, a long black robe embroidered with little stars on it, a ridiculous black wizard's hat (the top slightly crooked), and his comfortable boots. A fake beard is seen sticking out of the pocket of the robe.

"If I recall correctly, I asked you if you'd worn heels before. It's a lot like stilts, from what I've been told." Tel just shakes his head. "Hold on. Hold on." He pauses, shifting his arms to more comfortably carry Lana. "That's better. Now, as I was saying... and you had how many drinks? Because I think I lost count myself."

There is a figure that is out on the streets in the cool evening. She's in a green dress with golden trim, grey skin dim against the night sky a backdrop for the glowing gaze done up hair. Normally straight, it's curled and bouncy, but she's looking at the white porcelain mask held in her hands. Gold painted lips purse in thought, her looking up to the moon for a spell.

A grey ear twitches twice, and Aryia's head twists downwards to look off to the side. Her head tilts to the side.

A little smile, then a sigh as she rises to her feet. Seems like she may have to be dragging some people to their home.

There's a familiar two tone, low-high note of greeting as a dressed up mute is ambling towards them with a steady gait on heels.

Is she... scarless? No- oh, she's actually wearing makeup.

"Haha, how many? I don't remember, either. We were drinking each other's glasses pretty freely and... everything sort of blended together?" Cor'lana snickers. "We're going to show up back at the house and Grandfather's going to wonder when we turned into sopping-wet, drunken and drowned rats."

But then there's Aryia shows up, and Cor'lana squints her violet eyes at the lady in the green dress. No scars? Is that Aryia? ...No, wait, that dress is totally something she'd wear--Oh! Makeup. "Aryia! Is that you?" Cor'lana calls out, maybe a little too loud. It's a little hard to remember to modulate your volume when you're a bit lost in the sauce.

Telamon is only slightly more sober than Cor'lana. Fortunately, he's not at the 'falling down throwing up' stage. That's terribly unimpressive when you're supposed to be a mighty sorcerer. "Thank the gods I picked up some more alchemist's kindness, I just know we're both going to have hangovers." He hiccups a bit.

Then he hears Aryia's whistle, and peers at the mul'niessa in the green dress as well, a bit owlishly. It takes him a few moments. "Yeah. That's Aryia," he says confidently. "Her eyes. She's got boulder-breaking eyes."

Aryia can't help but perk and puff up at the mention of boulder-breaking. She gives an up-nod. A motion that shows off her throat, no amount of makeup would ever be able to cover that one up. She does a sloppy gesture. She wasn't drunk, it was just her slang slipping in. And with her imbued understanidng, it came as a clear, "What's up you smashed fucks. You all have a fun day?" <Handspeech/Tongues>

Cor'lana giggles again at the notion of Aryia having boulder-breaking eyes. "She does! She has special eyes. We're having a pretty okay time, except for the fact I almost broke my feet earlier."

She holds out the high heels that she'd apparently worn to the Masquerade. They are not pencil-thin, which is probably how Cor'lana survived wearing them, but they are tall for a beginner, as the heels themselves are about 2.5 inches long. "My feet are killing me, so I had Tel carry me home," she helpfully explains. "You're doing a good job so far, too, honey."

Telamon hiccups again, and looks annoyed with himself. "I have good motivations..." He smiles at Cor'lana, a bit more fuzzy-brained than normal. But hey, it's a holiday! "And she looked really good... when she was standing still. Walking was.. I think she needs to work on it. Like flying."

He takes in Aryia's garb now, and inquires carefully, "Did you have a good time at your party?" He's not asking something stupid like 'were you at a party?'. He's not THAT drunk. "I was... the wise old wizard." He pulls the scruffy-looking fake beard out, and holds it up to his face. "Like this."

Aryia snickers once more. "Wear flats next time, trust me, way fucking easier to deal with." Though, she herself was on some pretty tall heels, making the normally short elf a decent even five foot. "A wise wizard. Funny."

The man's question makes the elf sigh and shake her head. "Didn't go to a party. I...-"

Her face colors some under the night sky. "-... went to the Temple of Eluna."

Aryia? Going willingly to a temple? What? <Handspeech>

Cor'lana blinks. And blinks. Normally, as a sober woman, she'd probably not push the question. Unfortunately for everyone involved, she's both drunk and feytouched. "You went to the Temple? Seriously? I don't think I believe it for a moment. Just like how Tel playing a wise wizard wasn't very convincing!"

She grins. "Or me wearing high heels when I've never worn them before. That was pretty stupid, too--"

Then an idea dawns on her. Cor'lana squints at Aryia. "...You didn't get married to Violet, did you?"

Telamon spends a moment to marshall his thoughts. The alcohol... now he remembers all those admonitions about trying to spellcast while drunk. 'It's only funny from a distance.' But just thinking... that's all right. He says randomly, "I wonder if there's a potion to sober up."

Then his brain catches up with the conversation, and of course he jumps to a conclusion. "Congratulations!" he tells Aryia. "You should've told us! We would've been happy to witness it."

Aryia's tinge of rubor grows further to a crimson. "What? No. No no no. Unlike you lot, I've not one to jump into such a thing so quickly. I have time. A lot of it. We're young. No offence."

A pause. "A little bit of offence."

She crosses her arms and rests on her back foot, looking at the singular brain cell being passed back and forth between the two half elves. "... no I went because like..." She sighs. "... this night is also a Taaran holiday. Old memories. Figured if I hung around the moon lady's place it might even out some."

She looks down at herself. "... also I wanted to feel pretty so yeah." <Handspeech>

Cor'lana snickers. "Well, none taken anyway. We're young, dumb, and full of..."

She thinks for a moment. "What was the last word again? Fun? Yeah, let's go with that one--"

Then she realizes what Aryia's said. She blinks a couple of times. "Wait, really? I just thought it was a holiday to dress up and wear silly masks and costumes. But, uhh, wow. Maybe we ought to go to Eluna's temple, too?"

The red and angry lines on Cor'lana's feet from wearing high heels disagree with that notion.

Telamon shakes his head slowly. "I dunno if we should. No. If we need to visit, let's do it sober." He's definitely in no state to offer proper tribute to Eluna, or any other god. Well, maybe Tarien. Tarien probably wouldn't mind too much. He hiccups again. "Damn it..."

He drags his attention back on track, and gives Aryia a serious look. "You deserve to feel that way. Pretty, I mean. Every girl does." He hugs Cor'lana close, and nods sagely.

Aryia shrugs once. "It is that. Silly masks and shit. But Taara is the Masked One, so..." she rolls a hand off but scoffs, shaking her head. "Don't worry about it. I used to do this holiday a lot as a kid. Not anymore though."

She grins some and motions with wide gestures. "I feel like coolest mother fucker anyways with the stuff I do so that just an added bonus," she winks. "Where you guys coming in from, almost passed out? I'm probably going to have to carry you both back home at this rate." <Handspeech>

"We went to a little Masquerade celebration hosted by the Shining Chalice--the sorcerer club Telamon's a part of," Cor'lana says. "Practically half the boys in there wanted a dance with me, but I have eyes only for my Tel." She tries to paw at Telamon's face in a cute gesture, but manages only to succeed at pulling the fake beard out of Telamon's hands as he holds it up to his face. Which, really, might be for the best, considering it's not even fit for the lowest-quality of Theatre District shows.

She grimaces as she adds, "And two left feet. I think I stepped on your toes a few times, honey."

But Cor'lana's smile returns to her face quickly. "We're actually only a couple of streets down from our house now. I think Tel can manage us. And I'm sure if we stay out long enough, Grandfather might come and scoop both of us up. He's babysitting Pothy for us."

Telamon looks at Cor'lana fondly. "Yes, love, but that's why I wore the boots. And was careful not to step on your feet." He nuzzles her happily, letting her pull the beard away. "But yes. We have had drinks... probably a couple more than we should've. But," he gestures with his hands a bit clumsily as he's already holding Cor'lana. "We are not far off."

He looks at Aryia with a smile. "You're welcome to walk us home. The footpads tend to be thin on the ground in the district. I think everyone remembers what happened when someone tried to mug Archmage Vergin. He, uh... got a little carried away. He was very sorry about it afterward, and he did fix the street, but there's a really big spot where the cobbles have a different color."

Aryia snorts, shifting her weight to a foot and putting her hand on her hip. She shakes her head, the curls in her moon hued hair bobbing. "No harm in dancing with others. That's just when Tel swoops in to show everyone up," she smartly gestures.

"Yeah, I can walk you two home. Or, if you both get worse, I can just shoulder carry you. I'll do it in heels. Don't think I won't."

The mention of Grandfather makes her raise a brow, but she doesn't say anything about it. "Right. Shining Chalice. I didn't know there was a group of sorcerers. That sounds like... an explosion waiting to happen to be honest." <Handspeech>

"It kind of is an explosion waiting to happen?" Cor'lana agrees with a snicker. "They're... an odd group of people. But nice enough. Telamon goes regularly--I've only been once. I choose to stay at home and write poetry with my free time."

She looks at Telamon for a moment. "Mmmm, I don't know... If I saw Telamon dancing with another girl... Scratch that, just a person in general... I'd probably get a little jealous. Maybe I would turn them into a lizard. A tiny one. Just like mom used to do."

Telamon nods, attempting to look wise. "I think I'd be safer dancing with... uh... Vaera. At least then Lana knows she won't have competition." He chuckles at the mental image, as the pair begin to move along again, escorted by Aryia.

"The Chalice," Tel continues, trying to wring some coherence out of his thoughts, "is a group of minor nobles and well-heeled merchant scions who have one thing in common: what I call 'talent'. Sorcerers, yes." He chuckles. "There is a lot of stargazing, attempts to read fortunes, and study into how sorcerous bloodlines work."

Aryia tilts her head to the side and raises a brow at Cor'lana. "Wrong target. Turn Telamon into the lizard, not the other person. Or, rather, both of them. But if you wanna figure out this magic shit better, you should probably go more. Different perspectives and all that. Helped with me and the shit I do."

She turns to Telamon, walking backwards in heels as they go on the path towards the half-elves' abode. "Or me. Or... just trust Telamon to do anything fuckywucky? Though, dancing with Vaera sounds funny."

She just stares. "Sounds like a club for nerds."

Another pause. "My dad is a sorcerer." <Handspeech>

Cor'lana's eyes go wide as she just witnesses Aryia walking backwards. The half-elf girl has witnessed Aryia rocketing out and beating men to a pulp in the span of a few minutes. And of course, she crushes boulders. Everyone knows Aryia crushes boulders. That's like, her thing. Except now she's walking in high heels, backwards.

Life is truly unfair.

"Well, that makes sense. I'd turn you both into lizards. It's fair that way--and as Aryia's implying, it takes two to cheat... Although, dancing's not really cheating, is it?" Cor'lana sighs as she tries to make sense of her emotions and the logic of emotional betrayals while also fuzzed on alcohol.

She looks at Aryia and blinks. "Oh! Right, your dad! It's been a while since I've seen your parents. How are they?"

Telamon laughs. "No worries, love. I can think of many reasons to not stray, and a whole bunch of good ones to stay with you." He continues to carry Lana, as the trio ambles their way down the street, inexorably moving closer to the house.

He peers a bit blearily at Aryia as he sees her walking backwards in heels. "How are you doing that, anyways? But yeah. You don't talk about your family much that I've heard. Are they local, or...?"

GAME: Aryia rolls acrobatics: (6)+22: 28

Aryia tilts her head to the side, glances to the two, and starts to walk on the sharp points of her heels. "I don't know what you mean," she coyly signs before walking backwards like any other normal person does. In heels. "Mul'neissa secret. Also... I used to wear heels almost every day for thirty years so...."

She bobs her head once. "They're fine. Getting involved with the Guild it seems. Sort of starting over like I did."

She looks to Telamon. "No. They're from Charn. They ran away. I have a mother and a father. Aya, too, is my sister, but not born from them." <Handspeech>

"And they're nice people," Cor'lana says. "I've met them. Both Aryia's mom and dad, and Aya's sister. I... might have met them right after we started courting, Tel, and I... might have mentioned it. They gave me advice."

She blushes pretty brightly as she admits it. "Anyway. I'm glad to hear they're doing well--and jeez, thirty years? Every day? Aryia, I know you're like, the strongest person I know, but that's..."

Cor'lana sighs a little heavily. "How come I can't walk backwards in high heels like some sort of... I don't know, sex goddess?"

Yeah, she's definitely drunk.

Telamon hmmms. "I don't think so, but my brains are a little pickled right now. I might remember later. Or tomorrow morning, after we've slept this off." He gives Lana a squeeze. "It's all good."

The procession finally makes it onto the street that Lana and Tel call home, the house lit by a couple lights from within. "Ah good, Pothy hasn't caused any new havoc. Last time we went out there were complications." He hiccups again. "Dammit, why do I keep doing that..." He smiles at Aryia. "I'm glad they're out of that place. Hopefully things are better for them now, here in Alexandria."

Aryia raises a brow as Cor'lana is somehow progressively getting worse off, but can't help but mask a growing smirk on her lips that is oh so befitting on her. A different life. A different time.

She blinks at the words that spill out of her friend's plastered lips. And her eyes brighten. Her gold painted lips part in a wide smile. Oh no, that's a patented Aryia's-got-something-dumb-to-say look.

"Thanks, I work out. Got silver eyes, silver hair, but not a silver tongue. Well, silver in other ways."

She rolls her shoulders as she spies the house, and gives a broad gesture to the two half-sil. "I'm glad they're safe and hale. Anyways, here's your house. Don't try and be a sex goddess. I don't want to take you to the temples for snapped ankles. Or broken-"

She stops herself. "-... I'm having too much fun fucking with you guys. Have a good night."

With that, the dressed up mul'neissa ventures off and ever onward to resume her self-reflective night. <Handspeech>
