It's Variday, Aestry 18 11:26:09 1018. The full moon isn't up. The tide is high and ebbing. The sky is gray and cloudy, and nothing casts a shadow. It's hot, humid, and still.

A06: The Soldier's Defense

It is an overcast, hot and muggy day in the City. Rumors have begun to spread that the Wild Elf, known as Ettin-slayer, is laid up with critical wounds at the Soldier's Defense. The speculations for what happened to him are prolific.

Sorscha walks her way into the Soldier's Defense after seeing Ga'Elian's griffon outside. "Greetings Ga'Elian. How're you feeling?" She says as she places a hand on his chest, to give a bit of healing from the Shining Knight.

Ga'Elian smiles at the restorative touch, and says, "Rotten, overall, but a little better now, thanks. Is someone looking after Erithamiel?" All Ga'Elian's things—weapons, armor, clothes, even his magical eyeglasses and his ettin-teeth necklace are stored in a foot locker at the foot of his bed. He is heavily bandaged, but has a broken jaw with a few teeth missing and a disjointed nose, and two black eyes. His chest is purple from internal bleeding, and his right arm is in a sling. He has three broken ribs and a crushed collar bone. Both legs are in splints, and a thin sheet of clean linen provides modesty while not overheating him on this summer day. The injuries to his face affect his speech.

Aya rises from a bedside within another section that is separated by curtains and drapes. She likely noticed the griffon parked outside, and now spies Sorscha as well as the injured counterpart to the aforementioned griffon as she walks.

Sorscha says, "If you mean your griffon, he's right outside. I'll bring him some food after a bit, but I wanted to make sure you were okay. That flesh golem really hit us all hard," she says softly.

Ga'Elian replies, "That he did. I just hope the caster that crafted it gets caught, too. Thank the gods we made it out alive. Now, once I've healed up a bit, I'll have to clean the blood off of all my stuff. How're you doing? Is everyone else alright?"

Sorscha says, "everyone is fine. Thanks to Yelrona unraveling it when she did." She waves to Aya as she enters. "Velothin is recovering as well, as is Yelrona."

Ga'Elian smiles as best he can with his broken mouth. "Glad to hear it." An attendant comes to check his bandages, and says, "The Ygdrassil Union has been contacted. They're sending someone to look after your companion, sir. You look like you're getting a little healthier color back, at least." He sponges off Ga'Elian's forehead quickly as he talks, then says, "Call if you need something" before moving on to the next patient.

Sorscha smiles at the attendant. "See? Your griffon will be fine." She says to Ga'Elian. As the attendant moves away, Sorscha places her hand on Ga'Elian again, closes her eyes and lets out a long exhale. Ga'Elian's wounds begin to repair at a more rapid rate. Greater wounds and bones broken begin to mend before she brings her hand away. "How's that?"

As his jaw is miraculously repaired, Ga'Elian makes a much better smile. Without much effect on his speech remaining, he says, "Oh, that's much better." He also breathes visibly easier as the bones in his ches heal. He says, "I can feel my feet now, too. Actually, I'm still plenty sore, but that was a lot better. In fact, I may no longer need to be quite so bound up. Can you have that attendant check me over again?"

Aya arches a brow and slows near the pair at the mention of others recuperating. "I get the impression that a Guild task did not go well..."

Sorscha says, "They are going to caution you about moving too soon. Plus they would keep you in bed anyways." She then looks to Aya. "Flesh Golem. It got me and Velothin first, but then Ga'Elian here distracted it after it dropped Yelrona in one hit. If it wasn't for Lunair, we would not be here." She then goes to get an attendant.

Aya ahs softly. "How lucky that you were many. At least one poor soul was not so lucky," her head tilts once towards the curtained area she departed.

Ga'Elian turns his head in the same direction. "Someone dear to you?"

Aya shakes her head lightly; a single oscillation. "No. I came seeking someone else, an associate, and mistakenly believed it was him. It soon became apparent that he was not, though I sat with him briefly. None know his identity, nor precisely what afflicted him. He never woke to speak to anyone, according to the healers, and now he no longer can."

Sorscha returns from getting an attendant. "Yelrona? She's a friend. Very good natured, if inexperienced." She then listens to Aya and, tilts her head. "Woops, I apologize."

Ga'Elian nods to Aya, then at the mention of Yelrona, he adds, "Yes, henceforth though, I shall have to tease her about being the mighty Golem-slayer. A look of humor crosses his face.

The attendant returns, bringing a glass of juice with a straw. He helps Ga'Elian with it and says, "Lunchtime. Even though you ARE looking much better now than just a moment ago, I think you'll still be on a liquid diet for a bit, at least until we can deal with your missing teeth. They weren't our priority before now." Looking at the paladin, he says with a smile that comes from a generous soul, "You've been very helpful here. We could use someone like you here more often." After Ga'Elian drinks a bit of the juice, the attendant probes around his formerly broken bones, then says, "Well that's really quite remarkable," and proceeds to unwrap the bandages on his ribs." As he does so, Ga'Elian of necessity sits more upright, but seems to do so without significant discomfort. On the middle of his back is a tattoo that wasn't there a couple nights ago when he was swimming in the river. Right between his shoulder blades is a great stag looking up at a full moon.

Sorscha smiles to the attendant. "if the shining knight wills, I shall. he did get the attention of something that was really beating up an ally and myself, so it's only fair that I repay the favor." She says softly. "Ga'elian is a hero to three people, at least. As is Lunair."

Ga'Elian's face blushes at the last statement, but he says nothing, and merely smiles. As the attendant rewraps him, he says, "I am sure. Well, even though elves practically never sleep, I'm going to ask you both to let him rest now." Then Ga'Elian says, "Thanks for coming to see me. No battle-comrade could ask for better."

Aya nods to the attendant. "My business is done, here, regardless.... and I'd hate to think that the Ettin-Slayer became Golem-Slainee." To Ga'Elian, she reminds, "Rest quickly, before the griffin finds a replacement." A hint of curl at one corner of her mouth before she steps on to exit the hospital.
