  • Title: Birds and Wedding Bells
  • Emitter: Patch
  • Place: Wilderness Pointe
  • Summary: Patch is shopping at the Wilderness Pointe market when she encounters Slixvah and Ravenstongue. The sorceress flies in with Pothy in raven form, and then the subject of the undead invasion being thwarted and the future Lupecyll-Atlon wedding comes up. The group eventually part ways to pursue their own ends.

It's the usual Tariday, though here at the Wilderness Pointe there is a lot less business than usual. The wights, and wolves have made many wary to be outside the city walls, and things here are no different. Some travelers remain, but for the most part the small market is empty, and the ferry has far fewer passengers waiting to cross the river.

Still, regardless of the present dangers, Patch can be found meandering through what few vendors remain, her bright coat of red worn even on such a muggy day. "I'll take this one." a stall of furs being where she stops and sorts, picking out something from the hunter's pile that looks like bear. It was near the bottom as it is thicker than what most want in this season.

Its not her usual stomping grounds, but recent events of bad undead getting smashed made it all the easier to take a stroll to the further reaches of the city's influence.

An overly ribboned egalrin woman is leaving the Wayfarer's inn, hiding a biiig yawn behind a hand. She rubs her eyes, looks up at the sky and- "Ugh, I slept in, oops," she comments dryly like she was stepping on a leaf. She slowly meanders through the traders before her attention rests on an elf. She perks, gets a pep in her step, and mosies on over.

There's something to be said for a place of civilization so close to the northern woods. The rain-scented air brings the smell of hearty earth and tall wood into the Pointe, and... It also brings a Pothy.

That has to be a Pothy, right? Except there's a larger black bird that's following him, and when the white raven lands in front of one vendor and opens his beak, the other one lands next to him and pecks at his feathers. Pothy squawks and hops onto the ground.

"Apologies," the raven remaining on the table offers in the tone of a young lady. Its... violet eyes sparkle in the light for a moment, and then it hops off the table--

And morphs into Cor'lana Lúpecyll, although she appears to be earning her moniker of 'Ravenstongue' today. She snatches Pothy off the ground and puts him onto her shoulder. "Just wanted to stretch our wings a little," she offers cheerily to the bewildered man running the vendor stall. "Moving right along, Pothy."

"Snacks," Pothy comments as Cor'lana begins to move through the market.

Patch had caught sight of Pothy first, it's hard to not notice the white raven when he's near. It's more that other bird that follows that causes the elven woman to raise brow as they had careened onto the stall before her. She had been about to talk, but as the violet eyed raven speaks, Patch's words are cut short, confusion clear on her brow. It's not until Cor'lana is revealing herself that some semblance of sense returns, leaving the bard smiling wide.

"Cor'lana! I..." a glance shot to Pothy as he's picked up and placed on the woman's shoulder. "I didn't know that was a gift of yours." her surprise real, the ordeal having taken her mind off the furs she trades for, but soon she's offering the man coin and finishing her purchase, albeit quickly. "What brings you out this way?" she asks, eyes scanning the market. That's when she notices Slixvah, this out of the way place growing full of familiar faces. A wave cast to get the Egalrin's attention. "I thought Pothy had made a friend for a moment."

Slixvah slows as she sees a dichromatic pair of ravens crest and land, her a bit too far away to catch the intricacies of the conversation. Her head tilts to the side. Was this a sign? Always the little things would quietly whisper of what was to come, it was the sort of thing that-

Wait. HolymolyAltheaonaswingset.

She cups her hands around her beak to caw across the way, "I knew she was a raven in a trench coat!"

The witch saddles on up, finally arriving, and puts her hands in her pockets as she leans against Patch. "I know right?" she coos. Then, to Lana. "For reals tho, how'd ya figure that mojo, Lan Lan? That's some serious gourmet shtuff."

Cor'lana flushes a little at hearing very familiar voices call out to her--particularly about the part about being a raven in a trench coat. But she grins and turns around to face Slixvah and Patch, walking over to them. She wears a dark dress today that's suitable for the slow turn of the season--and for the dark plumage of her raven form. "Guess you found me out," she says.

"Imposter!" Pothy crows. "Suspicious."

"There are no imposters among us, Pothy," Cor'lana says, and she kisses him on his fluffy little head. "I sort of... ruminated for a while and tried out something new. And it worked. I'm not sure if it's from Grandfather or if it's from my mother's bloodline. Whatever the case, I can't actually do it for very long."

She grins a little. "I'm here today for something related, actually," she says. "Now that it seems the undead are beginning to abate, thanks to everyone's efforts... I can finally resume wedding planning. So, I wanted to take a look out here for ideas regarding wedding favors."

"Abate? I... I heard rumor of some things." Patch's smile broadening as she glances to Cor'lana, but leaning in to Slixvah. An arm holding her fuzzy purchase used to give the Egalrin woman a short hug. "And the wedding! Yes! I bet the whole garden is a fuss."

To Slixvah, Patch motions with her head toward Cor'lana, stepping to meet the raven-woman halfway. "Can you believe this? I think it a marvelous gift, wherever it came from. Mine are far more mundane in the magical world."

"And Pothy, you know well the only impostor is I. For what is Patch, Pothy? It is but a little thing that makes something older last but a bit longer." Patch's words coy, stated as if it was a riddle, even when the words aren't a limerick.

Slixvah eyes crinkle in a happy grin. "Lana is sus, agreed," she winks to Pothy before snickering to herself, shaking her head. "Huh. Mighty fine inwards insight inta figuring that one out, props to ya. For reals." It's supplemented with a thumbs up.

Which, she then perks up about wedding talk. "Awww, tha's great! Tho for favor ideas, I'm sure Pothy here wouldn't mind a snack bag for everyone. And himself." A wink towards the familiar."

A wing unfurls to return the hug briefly as she bobs her head to Patch. "It's certainly got some oomph to it, that's fo' sho'. Heck, even my little tricks pale in comparison. But-!" she holds up a finger. "-A knife is not to be compared to a sword, for they have different purposes."

The supposed riddle goes through Slix's head, is pulled apart, and has come to a decision: the bird woman had no earthly idea what Patch was on about and she's just screwing with the familiar.

Cor'lana laughs to Patch's garden comment. "Yes, the pixies are a mess," she says. "They've been dying to see Telamon finally become 'Lord Lúpecyll' for some time now. But don't sell yourself short, sister." Her violet eyes twinkle a little. "No matter the moniker you wear nor the power you wield, you have friends and family--that can and will help you out, no matter the occasion."

Pothy's preening his feathers when Slixvah suggests the snack bag favors. "Snacks!" he concurs with Slixvah, followed by a firm nod.

"Pothy's getting spoiled anyway," Cor'lana adds with a snicker. "He is, after all, to have a very important role in the wedding. Telamon and I aren't doing wedding rings. We're following my family's odd little curuchuil tradition and we'll have symbols painted on our hands to symbolize our eternal ties. And Pothy's the one holding the paintbrush. He's even been practicing."

Patch seems caught off guard. Something in Cor'lana's words leaving her blinking at the violet-eyed woman in thought. "Thank you, Sister." she finally gets out, looking away from the the three, Pothy's call for snacks causing a grin to peak once more. "I think I needed that reminder."

That topic seems dropped, Patch moving on and looking back to Slixvah and focusing on happier things. "So, you have the ceremony mostly planned. I think it lovely, regardless of who's custom" a moment in thought, and a glance to the small market. "What do you seek to give as favors? What can we do to help?" an elbow brushing Slixvah in play. "I'm sure we can be trusted enough. It is an important occasion" volunteering her feathery friend too.

Slix gives Patch a little squeeze with her wing. "Yup yup, it's tru!" she chirps, echoing Lana's thoughts on the matter.

The witch opens her beak for a moment, about to comment something probably out of turn before Patch lightly elbows her. "I think Pothy paintin' it is a real unique way of doin' it!" she hums diplomatically. A glance to the small elf beside her as she's being voluntold. A snort leaves Slixvah. "What'cha need a hand with, shug?" she offers to Lana. "I'm prett' good at pullin' strings."

"Well, mostly, I'm just trying to figure out what's... sensible? And won't be offensive," Cor'lana replies somewhat cautiously. "You see, the ceremony will be conducted in the Mythwood with Grandfather acting as an officiant, and... Not everyone present at the wedding is necessarily a fan of him, nor of how I've grown closer to my fey-blooded heritage as of late. I'm trying not to make the whole thing solely a fey-themed affair--especially as Telamon's family, who all reside in the Mythwood, are not feyblooded by any means, and are also relatively ordinary people. So, I figured I'd source more mundane and safe things for wedding favors."

She gestures widely around the market. "But I like the idea of things that are... Woodsy? Rustic? Something like that. Little trinkets that the guests will remember from the ceremony they attended."

"I'm not good with gifts, but I like how you're thinking." Patch muses, picking up her fur in both hands, displaying. It's not flashy or high quality, but it's serviceable, and it is likely warm. "It's not a gift, but I do like practical. Decorated tankards... well, glasses. It is a very special occasion. Don't let my taste in things interfere with your day's aspirations."

"I knew you were the helping sort, Slix. It sounds like it would be a grand time, yeah?" Patch says with a nod, and smirk to the Egalrin. "I mean, lots to go on at such an event, who wouldn't want to witness it?"

A brow raised between Cor'lana and Pothy. "It's one thing when the fey invite themselves, it's another when they're part of the proceedings. I understand their fear, but... the world is full of fools, some of them friends."

Slixvah reaches up to scratch the side of her cheek, shifting a bit on her taloned feet. "Eh... that's. Yeah. You do you, ain't nothin' wrong wit' that. I myself dabble in weird stuff too. But most folk ain't gonna wanna deal wit' fey stuff. Rather, as of late, I think they'd be off put by it, ya kno?" she mentions, adding onto Patch's observations. "Sometimes fools are just those that are fearful of the unknown."

"Oh yes! It does sound like a grand time!" she coos to Patch. "Lots of fun people involved, bein' there! And think of all the dress up! I'd love ta see that."

The drop-out wizard looks up to the sky, eyes unfocusing in thought. "Hmm... ya and Telly gots a nature and stars theme goin'..." she muses. "Patty's got some goood ideas there... hmm. Oh! What 'bout a lil' fancy bottle of Telly's fun drinks? Doubles as a glass mug? Could get a lil' constellations on it? Hidden messages?"

She's just throwing noodles at the wall as she shifts to another foot. "Or... a sextant? Engraved with the date? Coudld have some feathers as a bangle on it."

"I love the idea of glasses," Cor'lana says with a smile. "Maybe small etched glasses. I'll have to talk to Telamon about brewing some of that wine. Maybe Daeus's Embrace..."

"Snacks," Pothy says. He's pressing the issue.

He gets a pat on the head, which placates him. For now. "You'll get your invitations in the mail, don't worry," she says. "Both of you. We're inviting our friends and our family."

Patch smirks. "I had doubted you'd leave your sister out." a warmth and play in her tone, a smile flashed to Slixvah as she speaks of the wedding. "I would try and wiggle Slixvah in as my plus-one regardless." a wink, and broader grin. "The invitation does save me some begging and deal making though."

"Jest, I jest. I am just glad to help and be there for you, regardless of who was invited. It is fun to watch as Vaire helps shape your day. I just meant those who wouldn't wish to see it are fools. Too many blessings to miss out on, especially in dour days." Patch adds, stepping from the two, and tucking the fur under an arm.

"I do have business to attend, someone I am meeting near Mictlan to talk of conducting a study. It's business for you too, Slix... or soon will be. I'm sure you will want to be part of it." A tease of what Patch has made her way out here for, a glance given to and over the feathered woman, offering an apologetic smile. "I'll tell you of it over dinner soon. I'd invite you to hear of it now, but... I'll have to explain that later too."

Slixvah blinks, perking up some. Looking... genuinely surprised she was going to be invited. "... oh! Okay! Cool!" she hums, playing off the flat footedness as she smooths back her crest feathers that have popped up on top of her head. She gives a little chuckle at being considered for the plus one. "Sweet of ya," she hums, patting the sun elf on the shoulder, nodding along in agreement with the bard's insights.

Slight shift of gears from weddings to work, the egalrin raises a brow high. "For... me?" she says slowly, then grins. "Does it have to deal with the thing with the magic thing? Scuttlebutt mentioned somethin's bout that. Catch ya on the flip, shug! Lookin' forward to it!"

She gives a wave, watches Patch go for a spell, then turns her attention back to the half-sil and Pothy. Hands back in her pockets. "So... I dunno a glassblower ta help ya wit' that idea. But I can take a looksie around. Prooooobably won't be 'round here tho'."

"That's fine," Cor'lana says with a nod and a smile as she gives a farewell-wave to Patch. "Doesn't have to be a glassblower from around here. If anything, I was just feeling a bit stir-crazy and wanted out of the city, now that it's a bit safer to do so."

"Snaaacks," Pothy brays. He pecks at Cor'lana's dress.

This gets an eyeroll from the sorceress. "Okay, okay," she says. "It was nice to see you again, but I think that's my cue to go find something for Pothy, lest he damage my clothes."

Slixvah gives a big nod. "I totally understand that." A pair finger finger guns, and a slightly grating >'pew pew'!< comes from her beak. "Was good to see ya again. Ya'll stay fresh now! Catch ya laters!"

The bird woman stretches a bit on her spot, looks about, then hums to herself. "... I haven't gone this way before!"

And Slix picks a random spot in the woods and just meanders on in.
