This hospital is composed of rock from the surrounding Redridge, which lends
it a comfortable feeling of solidity. Inside, frescos line the walls. They
depict warm, cheerful scenes intended to encourage healing among the sick and
ailing. A small fountain towards the back of the foyer is fed by the nearby
river, and a number of benches surround it, providing a place for conversation.

The entrance to the hospital is guarded often by Sunblades, its interiors
tended to by the Hearthguards. Older Hearthguards tend to patients and oversee
its operation, while for the younger it is an opportunity to practice their
skills and hone their trade. The servants garb themselves in Althea's colors,
with a stole representing the City of Alexandria on the outside, to recognize
their service to both.

The building itself is quite large, though built in a way to make it appear
to be a collection of smallar buildings rather than one large one. The
Soldier's Defense is known for its ability to feel "like home." While it is
still a hospital, it arguably accomplishes this feeling of peace and serenity
better than many counterparts, with the benefits passed on to its patients.
Across one of the walls are a series of paintings depicting the hospital's
many benefactors over the years. The first in line is the painted face of an
unknown soldier, who the hospital was first dedicated to.

Munch emerges from one of the numerous side rooms, large load of fresh linens in his arms. Seems someone has asked the golem to help out. Possibly someone delirious with fever, but being resistant, if not outright immune, to many illness a golem isn't the worst choice to help out around the place. And this one hasn't broken a single chair.

Lumina is meandering about, a tray held in her arms, filled with teacups, which she's handing out to her patients, a soft smile on her lips. She arches her brows lightly when she hears the halfling cleric calling out, before smiling in greeting to Munch.

"Geddaff me, ye fuggin' mutts." Younger growls loudly, before anyone can see him. Soon enough, he comes around a corner, into sight. Using a rough wooden pole under his arm, he has himself propped up and is slowly making his way into Soldier's Defense. Two workers are hovering over him, worried about his quite obviously broken leg. It is snapped away from him in the sickeningly wrong direction. "Getcher paws offah me, ye fuggin'!" He snaps again, louder now. "It's just a broken leg, quit ac'in' loik ye nevah seen it before." That cigar of his is burning, and he takes a long pull from it.

"Oh! Well, I /certainly/...!" And the round little wizard straightens and tugs importantly at his robes. And then? Then! He raises his hands on high with a dramatic flick of the wrists! Sparks emerge, sparks and colored light, fireworks and bits of faerie-color that begin to whorl and spin in the greatest theatrical tradition. "Oh, bippity...oh, boppity...and...boo!" And then the bits of color explode, turning into horribly cheerful (and illusory) butterfly wings on a number of the staff, including poor Munch. The wizard looks proud of them, he does. His triple-chins practically quiver, just like someone had poked them. As Younger enters the room, he stumbles forward--though whether a blob could truly be said to stumble instead of rolling is a matter open to debate.

Jessa claps in delight as the light display starts, skipping and doing little dances around some of the be-winged staff. "Oh, how fun! This is great fun! What a nice way to liven things up here in the saddest of places." Oh gods, someone stop her. "Now. Who wants to be read to? Hm?" The blankets hitch a little higher.

Upon one of the tables is another halfling, casting a small but helpful cure spell upon one of the flu sufferers. She then wets a cloth and puts it on top of the person's head to cool the fever. However, she chuckles at the butterfly wings. "Ooooo! Flutterby wings!"

Younger has reconnected.

Younger has partially disconnected.

Munch nods greetings to Lumina, but doesn't smile back. Not for lack of friendliness, but people seem to get nervous when he smiles. Too many pointy teeth, perhaps. When the illusion appears on him, the golem tries to peer over his shoulder, spinning slowly as his stubby real wings stretch outward for balance. "What? What?"

"Friggin' mutt!" one of the recent arrivals calls out to Younger. The two men from earlier are now seated on their cots, and they look the worse for wear. Both of them are currently covered in dust and grime, as such one might have seen from a falling wall or building. The same one who'd spoken lets out a cheerful string of curses at seeing a familiar face.

"Wall got you too, eh?"

"Look at thet leg! S'bent like a can opener!"

And, well, Abrahil turns to see the source of the yelling and when he spots Younger? Turns even pastier, and the illusions of butterflies and wings flicker.

Lumina giggles lightly as she sees the butterflies appearing, but she gasps when she hears the cussing. She turns to peer at Younger as he enters, then goes a bit wide eyed, "Oh, my!" She sets her tray down, starting to head towards Younger, "May I assist you? Please, have a seat, we'll, ooh, get that set for you." She knits her brows a little bit.

Laughing, Younger then immediately winces. "Dun make me chortle ye fuggin' duncecarp, aye?" He calls to the man in bed, "It ain' dat bad, quitcher bellyachin', now, Mate." He, painfully, drags himself further into the room, "Some'ne come'n fix dis, 'ow far's Oi gotta drag moiself 'fore one ah ye hallow'd han's comes'n runs off dese fuggin' Mutts, hey?" He demands, somehow not losing his cigar in the process, and its smell can be overwhelming.

Jessa sees that she has no takers for the reading and just -sighs-. "All right. Fine. But I will let you know, you really missed out. I know how to enhance stories and make them much more enjoyable." So they totally missed out. Instead, she turns toward the source of the cussing, looking intrigued. "I could just heal you?" she points out cheerfully.

Munch snaps in mild irritation at the flutterly wings on his back, jaws stretching further than they have any real right to, but having no real effect upon the illusion. Giving up for the moment, the golem turns his focus towards the cuss filled conversation. "Wall? You were attacked by a wall? I didn't think they made those around here." Wait, what?

Younger has reconnected.

Younger has partially disconnected.

Younger has disconnected.

Younger has connected.

"Biiiig 'ole thing..."

"Big, big..."

"Tearin' down somma dat ole sewer system."

"Yeah, we--ow!" And totally-at-random, one of the nurses yoinks the bandage tight around the leg of one of Younger's compatriots. His face goes red, and he glares at her. "Look, you--"

Chloe hops off the table and leans around the table to look at Younger. "Man, you have a fouler mouth than.....I think I'll just call you Fouler. Yeah, that fits you just perfectly." She then looks to Jessa. "DOn't worry about it. you usually have to get eye level with them.....or stomp on their foot."

"Stomping on the foot tends to be more amusing," Jessa points out. A few people near her squirm away a bit more. "Though I don't always do that -first-."

Younger swivels his beedy eyes down toward Chloe. His brow furrows, one side of his mouth dropping into a partial frown. "Ye'll call me Youngah, 'r else Oi'll slap yer mouf, broken leg'r no." He snaps back, without missing a beat. Then he bangs his make-shift crutch on the floor, "Some'ne come'n fix dis, an' them two Mutts while yer addit," He gestures at the men in the cots; "We got deadloines an' all sorts ah work tah be done, nah."

Abrahil taps his fingers together a few times. A fine sheen of sweat has added to his pallor, and he reaches down to wipe his palms across't his sleeves. "Oh, dear," he says in a low whisper. And then he clears his throat, clears it twice. And, "You-you shouldn't say that in front of these ladies!" he says, boldly. And then looks as though he immediately regrets that decision.

Lumina arches her brows at Younger, and when Jessa offers healing, she inclines her head, "If the...Younger wishes to be healed..." She gestures towards him, then nods at Abrahil's words, "Oh, and yes, probably you shouldn't curse quite so much." And then, she beams a smile.

Chloe snerks at Younger keeps at her. "I'm truly scared." Though she doesn't call him either name."

"I don't know. He's being rather creative." Jessa looks vaguely amused. It is not clear if it is because she is being called a lady or just the general situation. Either way, she taps her fingers together in front of her mouth.

Munch blinks with a metallic click, looking at Abrahil. "I thought it was rude to says things behind people's back. In front is better, right?" He glances to Younger again, but doesn't move closer. Probally as his method of fixing limbs typically involves detaching them.

One of the two men raises his fist in salute to Younger before leaning back...and then eyeing Muse Jessa. He clears his throat, and does the shifting and hiding thing that so many of the residents had done earlier.

He practically vanishes beneath the covers.

Younger snarls, and looks over at Abrahil, leveling his gaze at him; he can smell fear. He chews on his cigar a moment, considering something terrible. He says nothing, just wrinkling the scar tissue that composes his nose. He turns his attention to Lumina, "If'n Oi didnae need ah 'ealer, wha' fuggin' reason would Oi be in 'ere?" He asks, incredulously. He furiously smokes from his cigar, venting smoke through his nostris. He starts to shamble over toward a bed, deciding to take what he needs. "Some'n come'n fix dis quick, so's Oi kin get outcher hair, aye?"

Chloe shakes her head, but then turns away from Younger to go and help another patient, whom she gives CHicken soup to.

Lumina knits her brows at Younger, "Again, with the cussing." She shakes her head, "We are aware of your predicament." She waves towards Jessa, "She was offering a prayer, I think. I was only going to set it, since I've been, um, busy, today." She nods.

Abrahil gulps as the gaze is leveled at him. And he looks around, and...screws up his courage as much as a small, round wizard might. His hands become fists and his chins quiver, and, "...!" and, "...!" and he levels a finger at Younger, wags it. ...before announcing, "I'm going to go get some towels!" And then he leaves to do just that!

"You are -fascinating-," Jessa decides, strolling right toward Younger with the reckless fearlessness that most halflings have inherently. "You are also -very- demanding. I only occasionally have moments where I get to come to the hospital itself to help people. I am very much a soothing presence," doubtful, given the people hiding, "why, people declare themselves better just knowing that I am in the building! How'd you break it?"

Munch blinks mildly after Abrahil. "...but, I just got the towels?" Maybe they need more? The golem turns his focus back towards Younger and Jessa, curious the details himself. "Was it one of those walls with the big hands? I hate those things."

Younger snorts, "Oi'll sit here quiet-loike an smoke me smoke," He nods, "If'n someone will jus' fix me fu--" He furrows his brow, "If'n someone'd jus' fix me leg, roight koindly, aye?" He sits on the bed. When Jessa approaches, what is left of his nostrils flare, "Thankee. Per'aps ye shoul' paint ah pitcha, 'r maybe wroite a fu--" He snarls, "wroite ah shert story!" He finishes, without cursing. "Demandin'?" He chokes out laughter laced with tobacco smoke; "Y' ain' seen nuffin'..." He looks down at the leg, "Fuhhhh... Wall fell on me leg. If'n it wasn't fer dese two Mutts," He jerks his chin toward the other two in bed, "Oi'd have been foine, but since dey couldn' whoipe dey own ahhhh... Since der fuhhh..." He snarls once more, and then signs. "It takes rocks fer brains tah work wif rocks, y'see."

Lumina quirks a smile when Younger appears to control himself, and then she nods towards Jessa, "If you need help, do let me know." And then she skips off, back to where she'd left her tray of tea, and resume handing it out.

Behind the door there's a shuffling noise, and then a sudden, fleshy thump! "Oh--excuse me. Oh goodness, pardon..." and moments later the round gnome pokes his head out the door again.

Sees Younger.

Then zips right back into the storage room!

Abrahil goes OOC.
