Previously

The adventurers are in the Vast. Demons and Devils are manifesting around the group, as they slide towards the demon wars. Av-de produces a stone which manages to stabilize the area. Immediately, everyone wants to examine it or have a spare. The centaUWUr refuses, it is a relic of his people, and they press on. There are flashing lights in the sky, a sun setting and rising, in the southeast, and discussions of ways to pass the time and scrying that might be attempted. Finally they come to a valley where they are informed they will be able to look back through time for the missing time... if it's even there at all.

A frown and Jinks turns then to Lysos, an eyebrow quirked. "Something troubling you, tallman? Other than..." glittering, ring-heavy hands gestures vaguely around the area.

"The plan is to scry, but first I need to make sure I, and you all, are protected as best I can manage. This is unknown territory we're operating in. We're relying on the thinness of time here to allow me to pierce time itself and peer backwards into it. You'll all be able to see it with me, and as I point out, this didn't go well elsewhere, so..."

Farland clears his throat, then pulls a rather overly large mirror from his pouch -- gotta love those bags of holding -- and sets it down in the circle.

A mirror! 'Ruaaaah!' Ramirez is interested, yes. The ivory peacock steps up and leans so that he can gaze at himself and admire the magnificence. He looks first with one eye, then turns his head to check with the other. His crown is perfect. He rattles his feathers, then raises his tail.

He is glorious. Yes.

Paenitia checks herself as well, requiring only a moment's glance to see that her armour remains shiny, red, and her mask is still grinning. She adjusts her cloak of feathers, then steps back so Ramirez can preen some more.

"So, what the protections we should have are?" The dark lucht asks, and glances at her fellow knight.

Lysos's fingers curl and uncurl a few times before she looks up, staring at Jinks for a moment before she shakes her head. "What could possibly be troubling me?" One of those hands mimics the fancy gnome's gesture. "I mean, it's not like all of this doesn't sound completely..." She trails off, pressing her eyes closed. "Doesn't matter. Everything will be fine."

EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE.

Now

EVERYTHING WILL BEFINE.

"Coyote laughs with you, tallman, and you'd feel far too guilty if you fell through time and took my most prized possession with you," Jinks offers Lysos a reassuring smile, his butterfly kisses piercings twinkling in the sunlight. If nothing else the gnome is pleasant to look at and he seems confident enough when it matters. His broach lent away, he raises the coyote-chasing-its-tail ring to his lip and gives it a little kiss for luck, then moves to join Farland.

The bard's arrival requires stepping around the peacock and he grants the animal a wide berth to avoid ruffling Ramirez' feathers. Literally and figuratively. He continues his circuit of the circle until passes behind Farland and arrives at the other gnome's right side.

Faranmidahn hmmm's softly, still scanning about with her visor turned upward. It doesn't obstruct as much of her peripheral vision, and the airflow is better.

The spider knight looks over her companions, turning at last to Lysos and smiles, "We'll figure it out."

With a pat to Torrent's shell, she remarks, "I think I can scrape up one more Fireball if we're pressed. I also have a few webs., magic missiles and some color sprays, though those are... less effective if we're facing something really tough."

A sigh, then, "I... can also shrink people down, if you're badly hurt and I have to pull you out of danger I'll need you to not fight my spells. Mostly, this is in regards to you, my larger friends." she smiles warmly, "Torrent and I aren't strong enough to carry you at your current size with any real speed, and even Brave Ramirez can only carry so many before it becomes untenable."

Ramirez is occupied with the mirror, requiring Paenitia to move around him to see what Farland is up to. She shrugs her shoulders, rattling her armour and checking the set of her shield and weapons. "I wait on the instructions," she laughs cheerfully, "I am useless like the bull boobs with magic, but..."

She retrieves her banner from the saddle and attaches it to her back, "My colours, so you will be reassured."

"Also, Sir Faran has the good idea; if you are hurt, you will be shrunk."

Farland gives Jinks a weird look, then the other two as well. Shrunk? What? Bull boobs? What?!

He shakes his head, mutters 'adventurers' under his breath, and then proceeds to eye the peacock as it approaches to inspect itself.

The sigh that now escapes him is even louder.

"Honestly, I should have anticipated that one," he adds.

Av-De shrugs, himself,.

"All right. We've the mirror. Now, I need the tether. Something that's going to help me focus on the time in question." He reaches back into his pouch to find it. Yes, something specific.

"It is okay," Paenitia laughs, slapping Farland in a friendly way, gauntlet landing on his back. "you are the right size to be carried away."

Her grinning visor seems to be leering at his pouch, she is actually checking herself in the mirror, trying to frame up a nice reflection that encompasses Ramirez as well.

"It the metaphysical tether, or we get the rope?"

"You sure you don't have a spare one of those rocks?" Jinks asks with a smiling glance up to Av-De. The gnome then folds his arms and waits, draped in jewels and kit and (not) ready for whatever madness the land of broken time can provide.

"We'll protect you best we can, Master Farland, don't worry." Faran offers, trying to be reassuring. She still rather wants to analyze the effect as it's in play, but she still isn't certain there wouldn't be some form of chaotic interactions between her magics and his, particularly here.

"I appreciate it, but you kids ought to be worried about protecting yourself. Like I said, it didn't go well last time. That's why we're all the way out here in the hopes that it'll provide a better path to look. Thinner walls, you know."

Av-de just rolls his eyes at Jinks, though, and adds, "The one is enough for all of us, I assure you." A glance up towards the sky.

"Usually," he adds, a certain deadpanned monotone in his voice.

Farland begins to chant his spell. "The ley lines here are all tangled and knotted, as you can expect. The magic is dangerous, but I can tap them to give us a little boost. Let's see.."

The hairs on the back of your neck begin to stand. Assuming you have hair on the back of your end. Goosebumps, really. Paenitia is a lucht siuil, they have lots of hair on their feet, often legs, head. She might have hair in other places but it's well concealed by her armour. Her helm and greaves have an elaborate clamp that lets her fetlocks and frizzy hair escape the full plate. It's too heavy to stand up.

Still, there's that sensation.

"Ah, the magic kiss!" She shrugs her shield into position, unlimbers her warhammer. "Ramirez, you are the prettiest boy still, you do not need to check the mirror. Watch for the creatures out of time."

'Ruaaah!' Ramirez is the prettiest boy. Yes.

As is her sister Knight, Faran is quite blessed with abundant, and ambitious follicles.

The feeling of them standing on end, though brings her to some alarm, and she readies her Lucht knife and lance for any errant visitors who need setting straight.

"Steady, torrent..." the albino croons soothingly, "Easy, sweet boy...." <halfling>

"Ready as we'll ever be," Jinks assures Farland-- and to keep from being a liar he looses his bow from its harness once more. A mild bit of concentration and his buckler fades back into view, too. The gnome hefts the weapon into a proper grip, using his other hand to fold open a quiver and tuck the flap back out of the way.

"I just hope we're not seeking a time you knocked over your morning drink, Farland." The dandy sniffs, deadpan. There's a glance to Paenitia and Faranmidahn before he adds, "My grandmother always said there's no use scrying over spilt milk."

Farland interrupts his spell just a moment to point at Jinks with a kind of 'I'll get back to you later' in an aggressive way.

Still, the spell resumes easily enough and the level of power you're feeling is only increasing. The ley lines nearby arre tapped, yes, and the air has taken on the kind of hazy quality that one might associate with a heat mirage in the desert. Just without the heat. Or the desert.

A pool of inky blackness begins to fill the mirror, slowly, rippling like a recently disturbed and placidly black lake. Slowly, the inkyness creeps out of the mirror and rises up, taking on form and color, presenting a full, three dimensional image of a single room, a young boy seated in it on the ground, legs crossed. Eyes closed. He seems to be meditating. There's a sense of solemnity to him. He's not recognizable to anyone present, but he still seems familiar somehow.

"That's right," says Farland, "This is the time. I remember him." He spins the image around, examining it from all angles.

...but a moment after he speaks, black veins begin to spider-web their way through the image before it violently *shatters* alongside the mirror, glass going everywhere.

"Augh," says Farland, throwing his hands up to defend himself from the eruption. There's a pulse of energy and the sense of something beginning to build, uncontrolled.
