When last we left our heroes, they had traced the trail of the creatures to a place of broken toys where they were attacked by.. a cabin. Which grew horrible spider legs. Monster cabin.

It seems to be trying to murder you all.

It is now Valkea's turn! Foxx is next!

Levers are pulled, oil flasks are retrieved and fabrics are shredded. Bringing a tent to battle a house. Or at least that's what it looks like as the battered and bruised Valkea works with a her trusty goblin army knife to convert a few of her crossbow bolts to flaming crossbow bolts. Hopefully the cover provided by the tree line gives her the space and time to work without being trampled.

"Well." Sarcis says, after a quick scramble out of the way of this house she takes a moment to consider it. And... strikes out entirely, this just made no sense at all. But it's clearly an animated house so she focuses in on it with a narrow of her eyes. A silent prayer with a cast soon to follow, calling upon her God's wrath to aid her in this fight. "This... is insane."

Albain fell on the side of caution when the ambulatory dwelling closed in on them, seeking cover by the tree line. Now that he has a large chunk of wood between him and the even larger assemblage of wood, he cracks open a spell cartridge and ignites the contents while completing the Eldritch phrase. There's no visible sign of his spell's success, but he looks satisfied and a bit more brave now.

Ater realoading his pistol, Foxx shoots at another hingle of the same shutter. he doesn't bother waiting to see if the shot hit because he's back behind cover....reloading...

Deak reaches out to Grush and says, "Althea bless you with strength to defend Her children" He then pulls back a bit from the legged house's immediate vicinity.

Grush Stands her ground, gripping her weapons tightly "COME ON YOU STUPID SHED!" she bellows

Grush grins like an idiot as the house charges at her, this is clearly a terrible idea but it should be pretty awesome if it works. Her hammer is resting over her left shoulder, ready to swing to bear, the throwing axe with rope tided to it in her right. She breathes slowly, keeping her cool as it gets closer, waiting as late as she can before throwing the axe and swinging her Hammer to bear.

The house, in turn, is promptly rushing towards Grush. It does not run her over, though. No, instead, it stops right in front of her. It's doors swing open and it attempts to SWALLOW HER INTO ITS INTERIOR.

It doesn't quite manage to get a hold of her, though.

Sarcis pulls out an arrow from her quiver, nocking and shooting it quickly as she sees the house... "Oh Gods, is it trying to eat Grush?!"

Albain re-emerges from the tree line with dragonspitter drawn and pointed at the spider-legged house. "I think it is." he replies, before letting loose a shot that chips away at the window's hinge. "Does that mean it has a proper interior, or a stomach?!" he adds with a mix of curiosity and uncertainty.

Several of her bolts get wrapped up in cloth and soaked in oil. A few strips wrapped around the shafts just past the pointed heads so they can stick into what looks like the wooden cabin walls walking around on spider legs. Once she has enough of her bolts done to hopefully start doing damage she grabs one and begins loading it into the weapon, and gets a flint ready to light the oily rag.

Rounding the other side of the tree, Foxx fires at the same hole he's made...trying to make it wider. "Valkea! Aim for the hole I've made. Should get inside of the house!"

Deak puts his hand on the blue rose enameled onto his breastplate and calls out, "The goddess of hearth and home smite thee, o house with the Soldier's Defense, that thou eat not her devoted daughter!"

Grush's cool shatters as the house attempts to eat her, diving out of the way and letting out a rather unheroic stream of random swear words. She scrambles to her feet and takes a swing at the house, the blow glancing off with no real force. Grush is sweating profusly and trying REALLY HARD to not look through the houses doorway when it opens. She doesnt want to know whats inside

Quickly,a pair of legs spear around Gush's midsection, lifting her into the air as it pulls her INTO ITS DOORWAY.

It is trying to swallow her, yes.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!" Grush shrieks as the house tries to stuff her through its... door? mouth? "NOT LIKE THIS YOU STUPID SHED" She thrashes wildly "ALTHEA HELP ME! NOT LIKE THIS!!"

Sarcis draws another arrow and shoots the house again as she calls out, "Oh quit whining, I saw the way you were looking at that Satyr door!"

Albain moves up next to Foxx as he reloads his own firearm for a second attempt at the window shutters. "If she's - uh - swallowed before this works, we may need to rethink this!" he points out, before firing off another accurate shot.

Grush is silent for a few seconds and then starts a low scream that slowly increases in pitch and volume, like a jet engine powering up

With her crossbow loaded, the firebolt lit. The Ranger lines up her shot for the widened opening Foxx set up for her. Peeking out from behind the cover of that tree, Valkea lines up her shot and looses the trigger, letting the bolt fly in a brightly lit trail. Right through the gap created. Where a nice warm oil fire can start. Already the next bolt is being loaded and lit for the next shot she can take.

Trusting the spiritual bill hook to keep up the attack on the house, Deak invokes holy power to heal Valkea's wounds. When he looks over at the weapon, he shakes his head in disgrace. "That was pitiful."

"NO! NO! NO! NONONONONONONO!!!" Grush screams in terror, trying to brace herself in the doorway as the House breaks her girp and shoves her through the door

Unfortunately, the house is STILL ON FIRE. It uses a leg to jam Grush into its mouth and the doors slam SHUT, locking her inside.

Oh dear.

The interior is filling with smoke.

Albain watches as Grush gets forcibly brought into the building - and after a moment of thought - he reholsters his dragonspitter and rushes out into the open. "Keep attacking it, I'm going to see how this thing works on the inside!" he shouts to his companions, before stopping in front of the house. "Hey! You're... horribly decorated!" he taunts.

The bolt is lit and it might have been a bit to oily because as soon as the flint is sparked it goes up in a rather larger fireball than Valkea expected. You could almost beleive it's karmic after the last shot. The crossbow is dropped and Valkea taking a moment to put the flames out before trying again. It's still stings.

Foxx, in trying to fire his pistol, hears the hammer go 'click'. "Damn..." He growls and takes cover behind the tree. He's going to need a bit o time....

Deak heads over to Albain and touches him for a moment, saying, "Althea help you to fend off this flame." He nods as the Spiritual Weapon lands a solid blow.

"How dare you EAT ME!?" Grush stands up, coughing from all the smoke. She looks around and then starts swinging her hammer into the door, trying to smash it down "I'm gonna knock your teeth out!!!"

Seeing as how Albain has conveniently offered hiumself to the spider-house, it leans forward and attempts to force him into its mouth with a combination of momentum and SPIDER LEGS.

It's working.

Sarcis draws another arrow, stepping back from the rampaging abode before loosing it. As it sticks in it... "Did the house just stagger?!" She furrows her brow at this turn of events.

Albain doesn't resist, though the forceful grab does make him wince in pain. "Yes, that's it, usher me in so I can determine how to destroy you!" he shouts, figuring the edifice is too stupid to understand his intent. Once the door swings open, he scrambles through, joining Grush and scrambling past her.

Once she's gotten herself less scorced, the weapon is reloaded and with a doublecheck of the oilly rag on the bolt it's lit much more safely. With another breath to aim the new firebolt sails cleanly right into the spider house and adds more ignition inside. Hopefully not to anyone that would not like to be incinerated.

"keep me covered!" Foxx says as he gets his unjamming tool to get the spent cartridge out. "Dammit...."

Deak watches folks jumping into the burning house left and right, but remains outside for his own attacks. His

melee skills fail where his spell succeeds. Typical.

Grush stops midswing as Albain leaps through the door "Welcome to my home. Bathroom is second door on the left" Then she goes back to hammering down the door

The interior of the spider cabin begiuns to shift and change. Walls are closing in, slowly, on Grush and Albain.

Uh oh.

In the meantime, outside, it begins to race towrads Valkea!

Seems it wants to trample over her...

...and over her it goes! It crashes into ehr form, kinocking her down despite her best efforts to get awy, and thehn over the other side of he. Seems she's out like a light for the moment.

Sarcis grabs another arrow, shifting her aim down and loosing it. The leg it hits shatters and she calls out, "Hit the damn thing in the legs! Kinda hard to trample us if it can't run."

Valkea is right in the middle of lining up her shot when one of those huge legs practically kicks and stomps over her. She might have had it coming but the sounds of bones cracking along with wood mean that the girl is in a really bad way.

Albain spends a moment examining the interior of the wobbling and careening house - as well as spending a few moments trying not to get knocked on his ass from its movements! "This makes no sense at all!" he declares loudly, before loading his dragonspitter and taking aim at a far wall. A massive gout of flame issues from the barrel, scorching the wood and setting it further ablaze. "It is as this house is not real, yet it burns nonetheless!"

Foxx rounds the tree and fires a shot. It must've hit something good though, like a support beam.....cuz afterwards...something creaks....loudly.

Deak is horrified at the crunch as Valkea goes down, and springs into reaction uttering his prayer as he jaunts over to touch her with Althea's healing power. The bones magically knit, most of the bruising clears. Valkea breathes with renewed vigor.

Grush is breathing heavily, coughing up lungfulls of smoke, continuing to hammer doggedly at the door, she looks around at the shifting insides and grunts "I am begining to suspect that this is not an ordinary house"

THe house now crashes itself right into Deak as it runs by on its remaining legs. A spray of blood is accompanised by it given the force of the impact.

Deak groans, "Unh!"

GAME: Albain casts Burning Hands. Caster Level: 4 DC: 15

Sarcis draws another arrow, "The legs! Get the legs!" She calls out again as she shoots and makes another one of them splinter and shatter.

Round Eight - Init 17.

It is now Valkea's turn! Foxx is next!

"I was beginning to think the same thing too." Albain replies to Grush, as he loads yet another of his spell cartridges and sprays more flame into the already burning house. "I was also beginning to think - *cough* - that this was a bad idea, but so far this is working out splendidly." he adds with a deadpan delivery.

The healing gets Valkea waking back up again, or at least conscious. Smiling up at Deak as the Ranger begins to pick herself up and then her crossbow. Finally lighting it. "Thank you, that was not enjoyable. We need to finish this thing fast before it really gets out of our hands." she says and watches Deak get kicked around this time. With a wince and a rather angry yell she fires at one of the legs, sticking the flaming bolt in so the oilfire can burn inside and out.

GAME: Whirlpool removes the timestop.

Timestop by Whirlpool has left.

The resulting spread of fire seems to be enough as the house lurches and starts to collapse. It might be a good idea for those inside to get the heck out before they have whatever is inside come down atop them. Valkea's reaction is a rather vicious snarl of victory. No speech, just a wicked grin followed by a sigh of releaf as she slips back behind that tree to avoid any debris that might get thrown about.

The house collapses. It is now a smoldering wreckage slowly growing more on fire by the moment!

Might be best for Grush and ALbain to make thier escape now.

Grush finally smashes the door open, as the rest of the house crumbles around her, leaping through the fire she dashes a short distance before sitting down, taking a few deep breaths and screaming at a tree

Deak actually claps with excitement as his companions burst out of the wreckage.

Grush leans against the tree and pukes, partly from all the smoke shes breathed and swallowed. She gives everyone a thumbs up but doesnt raise her head "I'm fine" she croaks

Albain dashes through the fire right after Grush, and actually looks a bit more singed and soot-covered. A few coughs expel the excess smoke from his lungs before he can speak clearly. "That... was not a proper animated construct." he begins, glancing back at the smoldering wreck of a house. "Aside from it being a house and not something more sensible. I believe it has more to do with the place we are in - this forest - it's responsible." he explains.

THere's certainly no sign of whoever did it here.

No sign at all. The house was.. empty of people, anyway.

And with the house on fire, anything in there that might point to a reason for all of it is going up in smoke. "Better off letting it burn. Hopefully anything that created the legs is gonna incinerate with it. May even want the forest to burn down." Valkea says and looks at the others. A hand patting her hip pouches where she keeps her healing kit. "Anyone need wounds looking after. Might as well pay the healing forward." she offers with an appreciative smile to Deak.

Deak liberally uses his comfort touch and channel energy abilities to set everybody right.
