Once more Derry has called out for help from the guild, sightings have placed at least another nest of what can only be more spiders and such in the forested hills about twelve miles out of town tot he north. Several Farms have been overrun and their occupants taken or killed, none know which yet. After the first encounter though they aren't taking chances this time and any reports of webs and things with eight legs they call for the true heroes of the land. And you few have heeded the call, for money for glory, for absolute disgust of spiders, whatever the reason in the end it comes down to putting down the rise of these foul creatures one way or another.

Once more as you meet at the gates, Horse and Gunny are waiting with the cart like the last time, the older man is happy to see some of those that were there the last time and shakes their hands. "I know you couldn't have saved my daughter... I knew it the night she dissapeared, but thank you for avenging her death. But we got another crop of trouble brewing and it may be connected to the first one."

The forest was like a third home to Talazia, with the first two being Silvermoon and Elvengate. She quietly walks up towards Gunny and the horse, and nods quietly. She already has an arrow on her bow. This could be scary enough.

Kroth is quiet, he is here to fight, consoling those that have lost is not a talent he possesses. The goal is to prevent more loss of life, so he waits until the group can move and find something he can punch, thats always the simple answer...hit something.

While her crafting designs can look complex at times, Takiyah is fairly straightforward when it comes to trouble: find the ones responsible, and stop them as needed.

Brianna has disconnected.

Taro carries a worn two-handed axe over one shoulder. He lopes through the outdoor terrain like an Oruch more accustomed to life outside the city than in. "Spiders..." he muses. "I wonder how they taste."

The cart having been abandoned back at the treeline before entering the forest, Gunny and Horse wave to them and wish them good luck, even saying they will wait there for them for two days, after that they will head back to Derry. The path leads upward, its not too bad of a climb really, more a test of stamina with the angle being gentle, but constantly rising. A few switch back paths to get up the more elevated parts and the first sogns of what the party was worried about begin to appear. Webs here and there on trees and on bushes, even a few small drained corpses of smaller animals, nothing much bigger than a squirrel or rabbit at the largest, nothing the size of a human or anything close to that being found.

Taro begins to pant as the party climbs. "Too much easy living," he complains.

Kroth moves along with the group, he grins faintly, "Excercise, its good for your body, lets you live longer." He keeps a wary eye out though for large things with many legs that might try to attack them.

Talazia isn't breaking a sweat yet. but then again....she's used to the forest. "Pace yourself, Taro. Don't put everything you have into one push." She says climbing easily.

You paged (Takiyah, Talazia, Taro) with 'There is a flash of many eyes then gone, a rustle softly of leaves overhead, not unlike wind might produce, but the tension of the surroundings and the webs increase. There is a sense something is watching you, not yet ready to reveal itself.'

Taro's eyes shift back and forth. He takes his axe off of his shoulder and instead carries it with both hands, ready for use.

Climbing some more, Talazia looks around and smirks a bit. "We are being watched. Be ready." Blunt, isn't she?

You paged (Taro, Talazia, Takiyah) with 'Taro first notices it being in the lead, a mere foot step away from it. Another lays beyond and then two more at an even five feet. Cleverly hidden by leaves =, but not enough once one knows how to look for them. Beyond there is a movement of the path itself off to the right and left, a settling of dust almost as if something had moved in a circular path about five feet around.'

Takiyah grips her longspear. "Looks like we got company," the gobber Forge mutters. "About four of them, plus at least a pair trying to surround us."

Talazia says, "I see them." She then chuckles. "bad idea to try and surround us though.""

Taro comes to an abrupt halt! He bounces his axe in his handca few times, peering ahead. "There!" he suddenly barks. "Lets get them!" He urges, clearly only heartbeats from charging.

Kroth frowns, looking around and slipping on his brass knuckles, but apparently he doesn't see what everyone else does, so he just readies for a fight.

The circular puffs of dust that were spotted by a few, rise up, the dust settling as two boulders are lifted out of the ground and sent rolling down the path towards the party. Diving out of the way isn't all that hard for most of the group, but Takiyah seems a bit frozen. Thankfully for Taro, he notices this and tackles her out of the way of the rolling boulders. Before they get to them, they roll over the webs along the path and tree trunks, eight feet long and thick as a man swing through the path, a several part trap appears to have been setup, the trees crashing together as the boulders pass by and down the path, crashing into other things further on. The path itself is blocked though and there is shittering as six spiders walking like crabs scuttle out of the woods behind the party and two giant spiders leap up to the top f the barricading trees ahead of them, indeed they are surrounded.

managing to dive out of the way of the boulders, Talazia looks about and......finds, obviously, that they're surrounded. She lets out a bit of a groan. "Welp....time to get to work." She says as she fires a pair of arrows at one crab spider close to her. One bounces off, but the second one sinks into the softer parts, between the carapace plate on the spider.

The oruch grunts, then moves over to one of the creatures and throws a heavy punch at the creature, hitting it with his brass knuckles. The oruch steps back quickly, waiting for the things to attack him.

The giant spiders jump down of fthe logs to close in, one slips and falls ending up on its back and trying to right itself.

All around the spiders lash out with bites, most ring against armor and do nothing, one finds a spot between Kroth's armor and the poison is set, a mild pain fromt he wound, a burning sensation begins.

thankfully, Talazia is quick and light on her feet to avoid the bites from the spider. Skipping backwards, Talazia fires one arrow right into the face of the spider in front of her, then shoots another into another nearby spider, which sticks into it quite hard.

Kroth staggers for a moment after the bite, then growls and starts throwing a flurry of kicks and punches, finally smashing one spider into goo with a heavy punch.

Takiyah grins as a spider bounces off of her armor. "Reos, shift the fulcrum in our favor!" she invokes as she draws her hammer, ready to squash some spiders.

Seeing that the one giant spider was having trouble when it slipped, Taro Swings on it while it moves to get up, the huge strike smashes it into the ground, the spider twitches and dies in a pile of goo...

The crab spiders lash out again, Kroth getting bit again, this time though the posin doesn't effect him, a glancing bite that rends more than sinks into the flesh.

Now that no more spiders are attacking her, Talazia turns her attention towards the spider on takiyah. Her relaxation must've relaxed her aim, since both arrows bounce off of the spider's carapace.

Kroth continutes to flail away, a flurry of punches and kicks towards his nearest monster. He manages to get a decient hit on one, but fails to take it down completly.

The monster falls under the blow from Kroth, it just took a second for him to realize.

Takiyah sidesteps to distract one of the giant spiders and slams her hammer into its side. The carapace cracks a bit, but the arachnid is still moving.

The last Giant spider strikes out at Taro, but the shock of its friend nearby makes it miss as it shudders and begins to become a bit feared for its onwn life as Taro looks it over and strikes it, goo spraying over the mighty adventurer when the thing dies.

Keeping up her barrage on the spiders near Takiyah, Talazia fires two more shots. One bounces off, but the other sinks well enough into the spider.

Kroth moves over to get behind one of the spiders fighting Tak, he starts throwing kicks and punches, slamming a fist into it and taking down the creature. By now his hands are starting to be covered in spider guts.

Takiyah turns to strike the last spider, but her foot find a patch of spider guts and falls down.

Taro turns towards the last remaining spider. As Takiyah moves to engage it, a sly grin spreads across Taro's face. He walks in a slow circle around the combat, axe ready. He moves until he's next to it when Takiyah misses and falls. As the spider misses as well, Taro has circled around behind it. He brings the giant axe crashing down, the force shearing into the spider's midsection and smashing it to the ground. "Hah! All those eyes and you didn't see that coming!"

Talazia stares a bit, but smiles. "Hopefully there aren't any more of those things." She says looking up towards the mountain. "Come on. the sonner we get this done...."

Kroth grimaces, checking his wounds, but nothing seems too serious. He wipes off the goo on his hands and looks around, "We will need to keep going, there will be more I assume."

Takiyah stands back up and wipes the soles of her shoes on a chunk of ground that doesn't have spider guts splattered on it. "How badly hurt is everyone?" she checks.

Talazia says, "Ow." Talazia says with a chuckle. "I was hurt, but it's nothing major. What about the rest of you?""

Kroth shakes his head, "It is not bad, I should be fine."

Taro peers at the remains of the nearest spider. He probably doesn't realize it but he's licking his lips. Then he turns suddenly, at something Kroth says. "Normally I would say there shouldn't be be more - but something is unnatural about these spiders." He turns back to the carcass. "Something more than just the obvious," he amends. He thinks about it some more. Then he starts looking from one dead spider to the next.

Kroth grunts, "Why? Spiders have lots of babies right? Or maybe this is something related to all the missing people."

Taro moves over to stand between two of slain spiders. He holds his axe in one hand and uses it to point at one spider. "She's right. This one," he begins, before shifting his axe to gesture at the next. "And this one, are different kinds of spiders." Maybe he should do an impromptu taste test, just to be sure? Er... "And that WAS a trap." He nods in agreement with Talazia now. "She's right, someone or something must be controlling them."

The group decides to find a more stealthy way up towards the mountain. Just as they are getting closer, a few more tree lines the mountain itself hinted, and even a cave as well. The webbing all around and far more corpses of animals, some deer and larger animals now are present, strung up into the branches. None look human though, but then Kroth takes a tumble over a log, and falls flat on his face, perhaps a louder then whispered curse goes out as well and a strange voice speaking common, "Something is out there.. Have the guardians go check it out." With that, there is skuttling coming from the mountain and cave direction specifically, right for the group. Perhaps a minute to prepare themselves or come up with some plan for what is approaching.

Lightly clicking her tongue as Korth goes flop, Talazia hears the speak and blinks. "SOmething's coming....."

Takiyah sighs. "Well, since they know we're coming..." she mutters, casting a spell to invoke the Blessing of Reos.

Kroth glares around, then looks up at the sky. "Yes yes, I know, you like to laugh Angoron....I blame Tarien."

Spotting two large whitish colored spiders about 60 feet out, they easily cover about 40 feet of that to place them twenty feet ahead of you form the direction of the cave. along with four other spiders ginat ones that hang back more, moving ahead slower.

"here we go again." Talazia mutters as she fires another pair of shots at the albino cave spiders. Only doing a little bit of damage with one arrow.

The four giant spiders as they advance ten feet, shoot out webs, Takiyah making herself a big target moving forward and with her spells is the target of all them. The webs sling at her, all missing, though a couple are closer then one might like as the trees near her are wrapped in webbing.

Before you is an auburn-haired gobber woman all of 3' tall. Takiyah's vest and pants are denim with large panels of grey and notable red trim, and even her boots have grey-and-red trim to them. Her tool harness has several artifice bits and bobs hanging off of it, and her earrings show a hammer and anvil superimposed over a gear. The expression on her face is usually inquisitive, especially when she's fiddling with dohickeys and gizmos of random design.

Taro bellows in Yrch-Speak. He intends it to be a challenge, although it turns halfway through into incoherent howling. Then he launches himself at one of the pale spiders, axe raised. He trips on a web and falls on his face. It's only through sheer luck that he doesn't fall on his own axe and chop himself in half.

One still lunges at Takiyah, the fangs glancing off armor, but the other takes a liking to Taro falling over and bites him where his armor is weak in back.

Takiyah sidesteps to start setting up the spider for a flank, but it proves to be a moot point when her hammer crushes the spider into submission. "One down!" she calls with an encouraging grin.

Watching Taro rush in and....trip, Talazia decides to give Taro a bit of covering fire...missing pretty badly.

The Giant spiders once more shoot out webs, now about 30 feet out from most of the group. and two, one dadging left around a tree, the other right, crash into each other and go down, rolling into a heap of mad hissing and scrambling to get back up. The other two still moving forward.

Kroth keeps struggling, but apparently nothing is going his way since the whole stealth incident. "Gaaah!" he rages as he keeps trying to punch and kick the creatures, to no effect.

Taro is nearly foaming at the mouth now. Leaving his greataxe where it is lying on the cave floor, Taro instead raises his hands, revealing long nails that sre thick and sharp enough to use as claws. Thsts exactly how he does use them, slashing and gouging at the spider until it rolls over , legs curled up. Taro durges to his feet, wild eyes looking for the next enemy.

Takiyah strides forward, holding the hammer with her offhand and pulling out a contraption of artifice and magic. "You're not the only ones who can do ranged!" she shouts as the dragonspitter launches a shot at a nearby spider, denting its carapace.

The two closest close even more, only 5 feet in front of Takiyah now the two there shoot out more webs and miss one more the spell lady. The other two further back rising to their feet, snapping at each other before moving forward again.

Kroth charges at one of the larger ones, trying to throw a palm strike to the creature and stun it. Of course, he fails to do anything but annoy the creature, he cries out in frustration, "I am getting tired of this mess!"

Taro follows closely behind Kroth, but as the other Oruch stops to make his attack Taro keeps moving, circling around this spider just as he did its smaller cousin earlier. Only this time Taro reaches out a hand and rakes it along the spiders midsection as he moves, carving long jagged lines into the creatures side and back.

Making sure Takiyah isn't harmed, Talazia fires one shot right into the face of the spider, then a second shot right behind it. The spider is so far beyond dead that Talazia simply turns away from it before it drops. "next?"

Webs fly once more and Takiyah is hit this time at about ten feet as the other two spiders close with the group. She is wrapped up in the web it shoots.

Finally he Oruch gets a hit, he moves forward and throws a punch at one of the creatures, making a solid hit. "Much better.." He grumbles.

Seeing another go down, Talazia focuses her fire upon the last spider. One arrow sinks in, but barely.

Taro edges toward one of the remaining spiders. Suddenly he lunges at it, claws outstretched. But through chance or desing the creature raises a leg and plants the tip on Taro's head, holding him at bay. Its humiliating, for a moment Taro's hands flail helplessly in midair as he's held at bay. But in in his already enraged state it also fuels his fury. Taro grabs the spider's leg and twists it savagely out of the way. He goes on twisting, until it pops off. Then Taro hsms the tip if the spiders leg into its own head.

It appears Angoron has finally forgiven the Oruch and given him a chance, because as he starts to fight he connects with multiple attacks, finally finishing it off with a punch that crushes the body. The oruch snorts, "Finally..."

Taro whirls this way and that, searching for more enemies to attack. When it becomes clear the party are the only ones still standing, he quickly begins to calm down. But it seems the effects of his exertion will take some time to overcome. Even going bavk to pick up his axe seems to be a large effort.

Kroth grunts, looking around. "I am beginning to think I should have trained more in the bow." He notices how many of the creatures were dispatched by arrows.

Talazia smiles to Kroth. "Do not worry. You were fine, Kroth. I was just lucky today." She then looks to Taro. "you okay?"

Taro waves off the question. "I'm fine," he insists. He plants his axe on the ground and leans against it. "I will be," he says finally. "I just need to catch my breath."

"Uh, a little help here?" asks Takiyah, her voice somewhat muffled by the webbing. Talazia helps the gobber out of her entanglement. "Thanks," the Forge smiles at Talazia.

As you gather yourselves together and help Takiyah out of the web trouble, it is far more quiet, but there is something said. It carries over the wind and for most it would be words like a flower growing, but spoken in such a way, the raspy words grate more even if spoken in the elven tongue. It carries from the cave and seems to grow more distant as the few seconds pass by...

Talazia smiles to Takiyah. "it's no problem. Spider webs can be sticky but they're not trouble if you take enough time." She then looks towards the cave. "Strange. it's speaking Sildanyari." She says with a tilt of her head. "Only the beginning, hmm? I think it's leaving."

Anger flashes once more across Taro's face. He raises his axe and takes a step towards the cave - and then stumbles and nearly falls. Cursing, he glances at Talazia. "What? What's leaving? What is it?"

Kroth nods, "We should go kill it then, its probably whats causing all this, commanding the spiders, killing people."

When approaching the cave itself, signs are seen of a large party of creatures had been there the signs that they had headed west, most eight legged, at least 3 and another walking on two, even if the prints all look similar in fashion like spider legs left them. Investigating the cave reveals a few more traps and lots of webs to get by. Smaller spiders around, but nothing that seems aggressive or bigger than a fingernail in size. Further investigation reveals a few written correspondences that are written in the Elven language. Having it translated later on shows that it is times and numbers, one the exact number before that had tries to hold Derry and drain it dry of people. Highlighting the advancement of the new brain bug spider that had been taking them over and in great detail the form it takes in doing so. It eats out the motor control portion of the brain, the itching a side effect of the process as it eats and connects itself tot he nervous system there so that it may deliver fully blooded, fresh meat to other spiders if needed. A second letter, speaks of the cave they had found, a base of operations that needed to be abandoned and the process moved up into the mountains before others discover what is happening and the offensive is squashed before they can complete their goals in preparation.

Returning to the base of the path is simple, seems whatever was there has moved back or ran away to leave the area alone, at least for now or so the second letter shadows that it might not be over yet. Horse and Gunny take the adventurers back to Derry for a feast and congratulations of meats, bread, cheeses of all kinds along with many desserts, veggies and fruits to follow after.
