<OOC> Iadoth says, "Yo yo."
<OOC> Malorn says, "Hey"
<OOC> Iadoth hopes Aya will also join, as she is the only character left from the original series.
<OOC> Ga'Elian nods.
Aya has arrived.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "This is non-combat, but it should have the same rewards as combat plots."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "I have enough to start if y'all are ready. Note that I'm not here for very long."
<OOC> Ga'Elian is okay, but has to leave two hours from now.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Cool, cool."
<OOC> Aya is available, though, as normal, subject to random @work AFKs.

You are at the back of the madly overgrown and horribly pungent glasshouse that acts as an entrance lobby to the Tower of Four Heavens. Next to an iron door Bitr, the smallest giant, lies sleeping, gently snoring whilst her dog curls up in her lap. The door is closed. Behind you, two leaf leshies are tending to the wounds of an angry mandragora, which is thankfully leaving you alone thanks to the efforts of the druid Eilrie and her treant companion.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Anyone?"

Now that that much is taken care of, Aya hopes that they can NOW, finally, actually search for this artifact pot they were retained to locate. The miniature giant and the tree-friend seem ...occupied. No matter. They served some purpose and helped to get them this far, at least. Now there's just the matter of the large door to open. Aya tries the simplest option, first; the latch.

<OOC> Ga'Elian was AFK, sorry. Will catch up now.

Malorn has just arrived as backup sent from the Adventurer's Guild. He looks at the weird plants and nods to the others as he catches up with them. "So besides the rampant plants what seems to be going on here?"

CLICK.

Ah, the simple option. So often the best. The door swings open, noiselessly, revealing a dark, quiet space beyond. It has a templar air, with the cool stuffiness common to spaces that have been closed for a long time.

<OOC> Ga'Elian doesn't remember this from before, but gathers we are looking for something.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Ah, yes --- you're looking for an artefact, the 'demon cherub pot'. It's somewhere in this tower."
<OOC> Malorn says, "NP."

Ga'Elian merely looks, listens, and smells to seek any hint of a suspicious path to follow.

<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Are we in a forest?"

Malorn hmms as he looks around as he follows along behind the others. He keeps looking around not knowing what to expect.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "I think for the purposes of terrain we are in a forest. However, we will soon not be."
GAME: Ga'Elian rolls FavTerrainPerception: aliased to Perception+2: (18)+17+2: 37

You paged Ga'Elian with 'There doesn't appear to be any sign of danger in the next room; it is dark, and quiet, but apparently empty. It appears to largely be an antechamber for other sidechambers; at its centre is a wall, curved to match that of the outside of the tower, which has a second door and several markings.'

After a few moments, Ga'elian states, "The next room appeareth empty, save for a curved wall in its center. Upon the wall, methinks there may be writing of some sort, and a door in the midst."

"Writing on the wall? Interesting..." Aya notes softly before stepping quietly into the room, proper. Some may be unnerved by quiet or dark, but she finds the sounds of silence soothing, and darkness is an old friend.

<OOC> Ga'Elian doesn't have darkvision, but does have low-light vision

The light from the glasshouse behind is enough to slightly illuminate the dark room, and a beam of light, perhaps designed for the purpose, falls upon the markings to which Ga'Elian alluded. In a vertical stack to the left of the thick wooden door are three symbols, with a niche beneath each: An ear, an eye, and a hand.

Malorn moves up and he takes a look at the writing on the wall. He rubs his chin thoughtfully, "An ear to hear, an eye to see and a hand to do."

<OOC> Iadoth wonders how Bitr or Jokul might handle this situation. "AMPUTATION!"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "That's not a hint, incidentally."

Ga'Elian tells his companion griffon, "Erithamiel, guard." and pats the creature affectionately on the eagle-like head. The elf then extracts a beautiful longbow from a gorgeous quiver that is utterly too short to contain it, yet manages to do so, and walks into the room, and examines the door in the center wall. <sildanyari>

<OOC> Ga'Elian has the griffon guard just outside the entrance.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "That's an exciting collection of companions out there!"
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Seeing as how we are all elves, my earlier pose would have also been in Sildanyari, not tradespeak, and would have
not been so Shakespearean in wording."
<OOC> Iadoth nodso.

The partially illuminated space continues to wrap around this central core, which one could probably assume contains a staircase.

<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Perception to search for secret doors and hidden traps?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Where? and, any other instructions?"

Ga'Elian, first glances at the writing to determine whether he even understands it. (He speaks Sildanyari, Tradespeak, Yrch-speak, and Sylvan.)

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Uhh, there's no writing, it's just those symbols."
<OOC> Malorn says, "May I roll a knowledge/religion to see if the symbols have any religious meaning?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "There are effectively four 'zones' here, which are the quadrants of this (hollow) circular space. From here you can't see
what's going on in the fourth quadrant."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "You may!"
GAME: Malorn rolls knowledge/religion: (2)+7: 9

You paged Malorn with 'They have no religious connotation of which you are aware.'

Malorn studies the symbols but they have no religious meaning that he can think of, "Perhaps they are just a warning that we will face trials that will test all three of these." He says as he stops studying them and starts to look at the stairscase, "I think we are meant to go this way."

Ga'Elian seeing that what he took for writing, is actually symbols of some other sort, says "I'm not skilled in interpreting these. Are either of you?" He proceeds to examine by sight, sound, and gentle touch the floor and the walls, beginning on his right and going around the back of the central core to the left. <sildanyari>

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Ah, I have not been sufficiently clear about this. Sorry. You can only /assume/ that the staircase is contained within that
core, as the door is well and truly shut."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "I'll have a Perception check from you for the first quadrant, Ga'Elian."
<OOC> Aya returns from RL. "Circular room, with door to sealed area in center?
<OOC> Malorn will repose
GAME: Ga'Elian rolls Perception: (17)+17: 34
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Aya has the idea!"
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "inside a doughnut"

You paged Ga'Elian with 'You have uncovered a magic trap.'

Malorn studies the symbols but they have no religious meaning that he can think of, "Perhaps they are just a warning that we will face trials that will test all three of these." He says as he stops studying them and starts to look at the the door, "I think we are meant to go this way, but how to get in." He moves back over to the symbols and he runs his finger over the eye symbol to see if anything happens.

You paged Malorn with 'Nothing particularly happens as you run your hand over the symbol, but the stone is ever so slightly warmer to the touch than you might expect from the air temperature in here.'

Ga'Elian probes the first quadrant, and in the process, tells the others, "I've found a magical trap." <sildanyari>

"Did you try the door?" Aya asks, droll. She had no problems with the first door, and that's what doors are for, afterall.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Oh, crap. I forgot something."
GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d20+15: (7)+15: 22
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Rewind."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "No, it's fine. It didn't succeed."

Malorn hmms, "Well I'd say away from it." He offers as he shakes his head. "Not yet." He moves to brace his hands against the door and he pushes.

The trap is a simple magic trap, which can theoretically hear the approach of a creature before casting a spell at the target. Fortunately, it's old, and like a venerable old cleric, it sometimes doesn't hear very well. This is one of those times.

Meanwhile, Malorn's pushing of the door yields nothing. It is held well in place by forces unseen.

<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Malorn, are you on the RPThree com channel?"

Ga'Elian is not a rogue, but has a nice perception mod.

<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Sorry, that was ooc."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Never mind Malorn, I think I am probably not on the RPThree com channel."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Okay, for some reason that channel isn't showing up in my feed."

Malorn moves away from the door rather than continue to try to push it. He moves towards the outer walls to see if there is any useful writing there. He doesn't touch the wall as he passes by it just looking at it.

<OOC> Aya says, "Does this room extend upwards any distance?"
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "I have a +2 mod on Disable Device, but think simply triggering the trap to make it go off might be more effective. Do I
just need to make a noise near it to trigger it?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "It is about 15' high in total."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Yes, that's right."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Which way are you going, Malorn?"
<OOC> Malorn says, "I'll go the opposite way Ga'Elian is going."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Okay. You're just walking?"
<OOC> Malorn says, "Yep just walking and looking."

Aya moves away from Ga'elian after he speaks of a trap. She also looks upwards for other means of egress. It is a tower, and stairs aren't the only means to move.

Ga'Elian says "Guys, I'd like to trigger this trap. I think all I have to do is make a significant noise near it, but I don't know what will happen when I do. What do you think?" <sildanyari>

<OOC> Iadoth will resolve Malorn's first.
GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d20+20: (12)+20: 32
<OOC> Iadoth sighs.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Can I have a Fortitude save, please, Malorn?"
GAME: Malorn rolls fort: (15)+4: 19
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Okay."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "So the trap in that quadrant is now sprung (and hence, no longer armed)?"

Malorn feels an unusual presence --- his eyes cloud over, as if he had stood up too quickly, but the effect doesn't seem to fade! He takes a moment to compose himself physically, and after opening his eyes, he is relieved to find he can see as well as he could before.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "The trap in Malorn's quadrant is sprung, yeah."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Now to deal with yours."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Heh"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Significant noise away!"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Then give me a Fortitude check."

Ga'Elian stows his bow back inside the quiver and instead takes the flail from his belt. Bracing himself, he smacks the floor right in front of the trap with the weapon.

GAME: Ga'Elian rolls Fortitude: (17)+6: 23

Malorn feels the presence on him and he blinks a couple of times. He ahs, "The traps have to do with the symbols. One to affect the eyes and there are probably two more. One will make you deaf and the other will probably paralyze you."

The sound of the flail hitting the stone floor seems to resonate unexpectedly in this place of unusual acoustics. It's left a ringing in Ga'Elian's ears, like after a firearm is used, but it seems to go on, and on, and on...

Just when the sil might have worried he had permanently lost his hearing, he calls upon his reserves of internal strength, and the tinnitus fades gradually.

Ga'Elian says, "Now that we've sprung two traps, and it seems we can expect a third, I'm curious why the traps are out here when the door is in there." He looks at the wall in his quadrant, checking for secret doors. <sildanyari>

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Yeah, I totally forgot to mention something. But let's put it down to the dark in here."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Okies."

"How nice of them to warn us," Aya comments quietly from well away from either of her present co-travellers. "There is still the matter of the door." She gestures in the dark towards the portal.

<OOC> Ga'Elian only has about 30 minutes.

As the lucky Ga'Elian and Malorn avoid the worst effects of the trap and wander around there quadrants, they notice a door set into the walls of each. There is a symbol above each of the doors, matching those next to the door in the central core: In Malorn's, the eye; in Ga'Elian's, the ear.

<OOC> Iadoth has to leave imminently to collect child.

Malorn goes to push in the door in front of him to see if it will open by just him pushing on it.

The door begins to yield, and yawns open...

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Okay, I'll call it a day. If I post a follow-up, can you @mail me to let me know if you can make it?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Thank you all."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "TTFN!"
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Can make it later today."
<OOC> Iadoth cannot.
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Thanks and noms"
Ga'Elian has arrived.
<OOC> Ga'Elian waves.
<OOC> Bitr says, "Yo!"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "O! It's 3pm."
GAME: You invite Aya to join you. Offer will expire in two minutes.
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "7 a.m. where I am."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "G'werk."
Malorn has arrived.
<OOC> Bitr says, "Let's do this."
<OOC> Iadoth just waits a few minutes for Aya.
<OOC> Bitr thumbs up.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Bitr, basically what happened on Tuesday was that they went through the back door whilst you were asleep. It's a big
      round tower behind, which has a central core (walled off, closed door, some kind of mystical puzzle with three symbol/niche combinations;
eye, ear, hand) where presumably the stairs are located. There are three doors off the tower ground floor, with a symbol above each
(they were all also trapped). The symbols match what is on the central core. You're about to enter the Eye door."
<OOC> Iadoth thinks you set off all three traps, anyway.
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "We had only set off the eye and ear traps, and were about to checkout the eye door."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Oh right, yes that figures."
<OOC> Iadoth definitely likes the last trap best.
<OOC> Bitr says, "You would. :|"
<OOC> Bitr grins
<OOC> Iadoth says, "I promised it's not a save-or-die magic trap."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "... but, I hope your Fort saves are good."
<OOC> Iadoth will wait 5 more minutes.
<OOC> Bitr says, "So! These two went around back while Aya, Eilrie and I were mucking about with magical fruit men?"
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "My griffon is on *guard* outside the door we came in through."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Well, ONE demonic fruit man"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "In the glasshouse?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Yeah"
<OOC> Iadoth meant Ga'Elian's griffon.
<OOC> Bitr says, "OH!"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Nevermind, I misread. They went through the back door of the glasshouse."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Not that they went around the tower to the back door."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Meh, it doesn't matter. Front door, back door, so long as they didn't pretend to be kobolds."
<OOC> Ga'Elian meant the exterior door.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Okay Ga'Elian, that's cool.#"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Presumably Aya is being heavily RL'ed."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Also, I had a nap. Does that mean RAAAAGE recharge and a point o' healed?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "No, wait, that takes a week rest."
<OOC> Bitr squints. I think.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "You get to RAGE refresh daily."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Hit points... not so much. But don't worry about it."
<OOC> Bitr nods. I've got a few to burn through yet. Just checking.
<OOC> Ga'Elian likes the irony of a Lucht barbarian.
<OOC> Bitr giggles. :D
<OOC> Bitr says, "A lucht -natural attack- barbie at that ~"
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "What a party we are!"

As the iron door yawns open, it reveals a large, dimly lit space beyond. A few beams of light poke through here and there from roof lights high above, but most a covered by thick layers of ancient nests. But the dim light isn't the most amazing thing. No, that would be THE NOISE. A deep, noisy stream runs from the far side of the room across a raised level, before descending 35 ft. through a murky waterfall into a second channel that runs swiftly across centre of the room. At the north end of the room, the flow disappears through a grate, presumably to be recycled back to the top of the waterfall. How is anybody's guess. Perhaps a wizard did it.

But the noise is... incredible. The air, too, is thick with moisture, coating everything and making things more difficult to feel and distinguish. It's certainly unusual.

On the north side of the room there are some other shapes, but they're difficult to distinguish in the dim light.

A path leads away from the door and to the edge of the raging channel, just opposite the waterfall.

<OOC> Malorn says, "So this is the door I opened?"
<OOC> Iadoth nods.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "You must use your collective noggins here."
<OOC> Malorn says, "I do have Darkvision out to 120 feet"
<OOC> Ga'Elian is still trying to wrap his brain around what he's seeing..
<OOC> Bitr says, "Room sized water fall and bunch of stuff on the other side."
<OOC> Bitr says, ".. OH GAWD. We're in DWARF FORTRESS"
<OOC> Bitr will let you two pose first, so she can stumble in like a sleepy delusional dangerous halfling barbie.
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "A bunch of nests. Knowledge/nature to identify the type?"
<OOC> Ga'Elian has low-light vision.
GAME: Ga'Elian rolls knowledge/nature: (9)+8: 17

Malorn hmms as he looks down the corridor and he sees the nests. "Well those don't look good." He says as he steps back to let others look at it to see if they can identify what the nests might be. "I'm betting fire would burn those out, but I am hesitant to light anything so old on fire, who knows how it might spread."

Ga'Elian crosses the room to the eye quadrant, not going behind the central core, and stands at the doorway, looking in. He says, "Yeah, let me see if I can tell what they are." <sildanyari>

<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Does Bitr speak Sil?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Nope!"
<OOC> Bitr says, "I speak Jotun and Tradepseak! :D"

And there's BITR! Rubbing the sleep from her eyes with a small, scarred up knuckle before she blinks blearily into the gloom. Then glances up at the 'small' monk before frowning. And placing her feet aside, fists on hips, before she speaks in her strange, archaic Tradespeak.

"Hmf. Then mine feet shall stride forth and crush yon eggs beneath mine giant heel." A scratch at the last wound she suffered at the hands of the plant-demon, before she admonishes herself. "Aye, but mayhaps a touch quieter."

And then the other point ear's jabbering in a chittery language. Bitr looks at Ga'Elian oddly.

<OOC> Bitr says, "I plan on sneaking over and seeing what's there - but I'll wait until my next pose to do so!"
<OOC> Bitr says, "(And whether it can be eaten and or stabbed)"
<OOC> Bitr says, "(..Or just left alone)"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Sneaking over where?"
<OOC> Bitr goes back up to read the description. Does the fast channel cut the entirety of the room down the center to the drain in the north?
<OOC> Iadoth says, "From the south of the room to the north."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Totally cut in half."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Although south of the waterfall is a little more still, its still rough water."

Malorn waits for Ga'Elian to look at the nests to see if he can provide any information.

<OOC> Bitr says, "Gotcha. I thought there was a path around the channel to the dim shapes, sooo nevermind~"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "No, the path leads to the water's edge, opposite the waterfall."
<OOC> Bitr nods.
<OOC> Bitr says, "Hm. In that case, after Ga's pose and depending on it, I might go grab my rope and get across near gentl(er) side so these
two can get across as well."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Did my Know/nature 17 yield any identity of what creature these nests belong to?"
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Testing..."
<OOC> Iadoth didn't see a roll. But, not as far as you know. They just look like old bird's nests, probably long abandoned.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Bitr, on the other side of that 'gentler' section is a 35 ft. wet cliff."

Ga'Elian shakes his head. "All I can tell of yonder nests is that they seem old, as if they had beenlong abandoned. Before we commit to following this path, though, ought we not to check what the other doors reveal?"

<OOC> Bitr scratches her head. Okay! So, room. Raised level runs along the south side, water falls 35ft down, and flows to north wall with
grate. Raging rivers at that end, with a path lead to it. ... And the door we entered on is on the .. west side?
<OOC> Ga'Elian didn't actually 'enter' beyond the threshhold yet.
<OOC> Bitr waves hand. The door we're looking through.

Malorn nods a little bit, "That's fine let's check the other door on the trap that you activated."

<OOC> Bitr also apologizes, DM. When you said 'raised level' for some reason I had this thought of a raised artificial channel like a gold
panner would use. I think I understand now.

The Lucht frowns at the tourrent of water, then looks back 'up' at the point ears. ".. For thy selves are very small, it is a mighty trouble thou hast found whilst I slept." A flash of a toothy grin. "What else did they worrisome eyes discover?"

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Ahh, okay. You've come in on the middle of the west wall. The south wall is pretty bare. There are some...
indistinguishable shapes on the north wall. From the east wall is where the first stream runs. The north-south cliff covers the entire width
of the room and is about two-thirds along the room (from west-to-east). It's 35 ft. high and there's a, umm, plateau above it upon which
the stream runs. The whole room is about 40 ft. high."
<OOC> Bitr thumbs up. Okay. That makes a lot more sense than what I was picturing, which was some sort of weird wizard's water park with
a wooden tube carrying water to an artificial downpour across another half tube along the bottom.
<OOC> Bitr says, "Thank you~"
<OOC> Bitr says, "THIS is more like 'nature preserve indoors' sort of waterfall."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "The whole thing would look quite natural if it weren't indoors."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "What are you going to do?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Go see what these pointy ears found first. :D"
<OOC> Iadoth leaves it to the pointy-ears.

Ga'Elian answers Bitr by pointing exactly across the circular chamber to the opposite door with the ear symbol above its lintel. "There is another door there, and also back there (pointing now at the door with the hand symbol), as well as the locked door in that inner wall, which is locked. The hand-door likely has another trap before it."

<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Now to try to catch up all the ooc stuff from when I was typing..."
<OOC> Iadoth nods.
Aya has arrived.
<OOC> Bitr says, "AYA!"
<OOC> Aya completely lost track of the time.

"Fie. Then why dost thou legs hesitate? Ne'er will we get but naught with our eyes. Our hands and feet must we also use! We are no finger wagglers." A pause, as she looks back up at the two suspiciously. ".. Mind ye keen, mine tongue speaks only for mineself." A look towards the scene again. "Behold ye a wonder - I'll fetch mine rope, and we'll see what lays at the grill. Mayhaps some clue to this joyful madness, or mayhaps a way to ascend yon cliff." Having said her bit, the Halfling marches back to the sleeping spot to grab the coil of rope - fully intending to breech the room when she gets back.

That was Bitr speaking.

Malorn nods, "Perhaps, but let's see what's behind the other door first before we get too far."

Ga'Elian strides across to the ear door and tries the handle.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Welcome, Aya!"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Hi, Aya!"
<OOC> Bitr says, "We're past the glasshouse and into a place with doors! Lots of trapped doors!"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Well, maybe not lots."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Can my griffin get through these doorways?"

Aya isn't hindered by the dim light, or lack thereof. On the other hand, she wouldn't be so rude as to hinder the excited Bitr and her wish to charge on in. No, Aya is not that impolite.

The space through the ear door is /incredibly/ dark. Not just the normal darkness of night, but the entombing darkness of a sealed room. Perhaps even deeper than that. It is cool, and calm, and the air currents give it something of the feel of a cathedral: An excellent, sonorous space. You can tell very little about this room from the doorway, mind --- because it's so dark. Perhaps you'll have to rely on other sense.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "I'm going to rule no to the griffon."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Okay."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "You don't really need it. If you think you might do, perhaps we can revisit that ruling."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "It's alright."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Stop griffin us! :O"

Malorn moves over towards the other door as Ga'elian does. He peers into the room, "It's awfully dark in there probably some kind of magical darkness."

Flashing that same toothy smile for Aya as she passes, the halfling soon returns with the rope coiled about her waist and the oversized broken sword on her back. Glancing once into the darkened chamber of the last door opened, before she slips into the room with the cliff and waterfall. Then immedialty turns to look -up-, squinting up and squatting low as she moves down the path. No more things dropping on her from above, no more things popping up from the ground below, thank-you-very-much.

<OOC> Bitr shakes tiny fist
<OOC> Iadoth says, "What are you looking for?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Some big thing about to leap down from the wall at me, or circling monsters with bat wings waiting for some stupid lucht to
go walking blithelty into the room."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Well, you don't see any of those. It's probably the noise distracting you."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "It's INCREDIBLY LOUD"
<OOC> Bitr says, "SO LOUD"

Ga'Elian realizes that his low-light vision is not equal to the darkness in this room, reaches out as best he can with his smell and hearing to try to penetrate the mysteries of this dark room, from the threshhold, simply trying to perceive anything that might be there.

<OOC> Bitr says, "Cool"

Aya leaves Bitr to her rope swinging or swimming in the very loud room and moves to the more quiet and dark that's drawn the others' attentions. "The darkness is only a threat to some..." she comments, giving Malorn a long glance before turning her attentions to the room beyond.

The dark room smells musty and unused, much like other rooms in this complex. As for sounds... none to speak of, but you feel as if this room was somehow /made/ for sound.

GAME: Malorn rolls perception: (10)+11: 21

Ga'Elian speaks into the room at a conversational volume, "Hello?" <sildanyari>

Having spotted nothing immediatly about to leap at her or fly at her or otherwise try to lift her away - which would be foolish, as she's a GIANT! A two foot nine GIANT! - Bitr moves to the water's edge. Frowning down at the liquid as she squints, trying to see if there's anything below the surface before she'll get down on her belly.

And dip her pinky finger on her off hand in. Best to see if it'll scour her to the bone NOW before she tries to bodily move through.

Bitr does this too.

The room has beautiful acoustics, and a wonderfully sonorous echo resounds throughout the room. As it fades, perhaps you can hear the sound of a clap in one corner of the room, repeated a few times. But soon it fades, as if in a dream.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Rocky pool, nice and cool, to catch a fish, so juicy SWEEEET."
<OOC> Bitr finds tentacle. ".. Keen ye, this be for bored maidens. Fah." Toss over shoulder.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "You don't see any fish down there. Then again, it is dark."
<OOC> Bitr nods. And has the flesh been torn from the pinky finger by caustic waters? :D
<OOC> Bitr says, "Or is it perfectly normal non-flesh scouring water?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Oh, no, it's just normal water."
<OOC> Bitr thumbs up. Figured I'd check before I manage to splash any on me or get dragged in.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "OH NO WAIT ITS MOLECULAR ACID."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Rocks fall and you die."

Ga'Elian, speaking to Malorn and Aya, says, "The Lucht seems intent on going the way of the eye door. Shall we join her? As much as I'd like to know what lies behind the other two doors, I think we'd do best to not divide our party." <sildanyar>

<OOC> Bitr giggles. ALSO ALSO! The river channel - does it run -right up against- the cliff, or is there enough space that I could plant a toe if
I cross? Rather than leap, cling, and hope for a high roll.
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "A River Runs through It?"
<OOC> Bitr ^5 Ga

Malorn nods, "Sounds fine to me." He says as he moves back over towards the eye door.

"Someone may need to curtail her ...enthusiasm at some point," Aya adds as she moves back to the loud room with the loud lucht with the others.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "To the south of the waterfall, there is no 'other shore' --- the cliff rises straight up from the water. North of the waterfall
there /is/ a flat, rocky shoreline upon which you could land. But there's a bit of a height difference between the water surface and the
      shoreline."
<OOC> Bitr nods.

As the elves wend their way back to the nature room, Ga'Elian pulls a silk rope from his pack. He walks right over to Bitr.

The rock headed barbie lucht called Bitr is laying on her tum, one hand dipped into the water as she scoops it a few times. At last she sits up, grinning her toothy grin. Look, ma! No lost fingers! Unstrapping her sword, she looks to plant it -HARD- into the ground. Enough to make it stay put as she winds one end of hte rope around the hilt. She looks up as Ga approaches, and laughs before talking. Of course, it's so loud no one can hear her. Thankfully. And then she's feeding a bit more rope around her waist to give herself some slack, taking hold of the bars of the grill, and putting her legs in. Testing the current before she'll try to 'cling' across.

<OOC> Bitr says, "Putting her legs in the water"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Yes, so at the other shore, there's a hoist you'll need to do, which I've designed to be 'longer than a medium creature's
      arm length'."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Are you sure you want to go for a swim?"
<OOC> Bitr nods. I'm going to try and 'climb' across the bars, let them fight the current for me. By hoist, you mean 'hoist yourself up' or 'an
actual hoist with mechanisms and rope'?
<OOC> Iadoth says, "'Hoist yourself up.' What bars?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Wasn't there a grill on the north wall that the water goes into?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Oh right! Yes."
<OOC> Bitr nods. :D Rather than try to fight the current and swim, I intend to just clamor.
<OOC> Iadoth will still need you to make swim checks.
<OOC> Bitr thumbs up. DC for 'stormy' or 'rough'?
<OOC> Iadoth says, "'Rough'. I'll give you a +2 circumstance bonus for using the bars."

Ga'Elian looks at the wall in which the door is, checking to see whether *it* might be scalable.

GAME: Bitr rolls athletics+2: (7)+8+2: 17

As Ga'Elian examines the wall, he finds a rough vine hanging in the north-west corner. It hangs from a platform some 30 ft. in the air, jutting out from the otherwise normal masonry walls.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Bitr, that's fine. You can swim at half your land speed."
<OOC> Bitr giggles. OF course the elf would take the easy way! But I'm a barbie!
<OOC> Iadoth says, "The river is, umm, 15 ft. wide at this point."
<OOC> Bitr nods. That's pretty much one round for me.
<OOC> Bitr moves at 30'.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Lovely."
<OOC> Bitr says, "so 15' swim in rough water"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Need a climb for the hoist as well?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "'the hoist upwards' as well?"
<OOC> Iadoth hold on.

Ga'Elian heads for the vine, and tugs on it to gauge its strength.

<OOC> Bitr thumbs.

As Bitr crosses the grille, she spots something just above her reach --- some rope, attached to a pulley some distance above. Whilst the rope doesn't look strong enough to support even a moderate weight, it must be there for something.

Meanwhile, Ga'Elian checks the vine for a similar purpose. It looks as strong and sturdy as a regular hempen rope, with a lightness to it somewhere between hemp and spidersilk.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Bitr, you /can/ use the bars to climb the 10 ft. to dry land. It's a DC20 check. I kinda wanna penalise you, but I don't
think I will. Also did you ACP your previous roll?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "ACP?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Armour Check Penalty."

Malorn follows along after Ga'Elian and he waits for the other elf to get down before he starts to climb down.

<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "The game builds ACP into named skill rolls, if the armor is currently +equipped."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Oh! The vine stretches away /above/ you, to the platform 30 ft. into the air."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Ah. I don't think I have a penalty, but lemme check."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Thanks, Ga'Elian."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Oh. Well, there you go."
GAME: Bitr rolls athletics: (8)+8: 16
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "So I can't reach the vine, then?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "No, it hangs from the platform to the ground."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Well, failed to climb up. Just clinging for now, will pose."
<OOC> Iadoth nodnods.
<OOC> Iadoth means yes, you can reach it. The platform is some 30 ft. in the air, with the long vine hanging from there to the ground. You
      could use it to ascend.
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Is there a rock or branch jutting out nearby that I might be able to lasso with my rope?"
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "aah."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "No, the walls are otherwise normal masonry."

Bitr - surprisingly stout for such a small thing - braces against the heavy current and begins clamoring across the bars. For all her headstrong enthusiasm, she's taking her time - and still moving pretty quickly as the torrent batters into her back. At last she reaches the other end, squinting up through the mist at the small rope above her. She blinks, then focuses on the immediate hoise to her right. She begins trying to shimmy up the bars, but they're too slick! She slides back down, grimacing.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "It is in the corner, though, which means one would be able to use the corner as a brace to climb."

Ga'Elian slings his own rope across his chest and wraps the vine around his body without tying it off, then uses it to pull himself up, walking up the masoned wall.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Lovely! I'll have a climb check from you, too, Ga'Elian."
GAME: Ga'Elian rolls athletics: (1)+4: 5 (EPIC FAIL)
<OOC> Bitr says, "Ow."

Aya looks between the divided would-be climbers. Some want to go up, others want to go down... Who knows who will be the first to end up drowned, crushed, or fallen? "Is there somewhere you hope to go after you get across, up, or down?" she asks the room in general, "Or are we just looking for a better view?"

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Well, you haven't gotten anywhere yet, so that failure isn't awful just yet."
<OOC> Bitr giggles at Aya. We can't hear yooou~ Room's too loud!
<OOC> Ga'Elian raises his hand. First one fallen, present.
<OOC> Bitr says, "DM, can I try to climb AGAIN? And then give it up and go take the easy path the elves found."
<OOC> Iadoth will point out that a fall from 30 ft. does 3d6 damage, 2d6 on a successful acrobatics check.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Yes, Bitr, unless anyone else wants to do something else first?"
<OOC> Iadoth looks at Malorn and Aya.
<OOC> Bitr says, "Join us in our maaaadness."
<OOC> Bitr says, "We are the dungeon climbers. :O"

Upon failing so miserably in his attempt to climb the wall, Ga'Elian removes his pack, the rope, the quiver, the rapier, the flail, his buckler and his armor, then puts his quiver and rope back on, before trying again.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Hey, some of this I even planned for."

GAME: Ga'Elian rolls athletics: (2)+7: 9
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "ARGH!"

Climbing up the bars, Bitr gets out onto dry land. The shoreline is rocky and smooth here, and very wet. On the wall, nearby, you spot another pulley and rope, but you've got a clearer idea of what it's connected to now --- some kind of curved glass, in a dark colour that you can't distinguish in this darkness.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Oh dear, Ga'Elian."

Grimacing, the tiny soaked halfling grips the bars like she was trying to -THROTTLE THE LIFE FROM THE ****ERS- and squeezes her biceps as she pushes herself up, and up, and up - and grabs the ledge. Hoisting herself back to dry land as she pants, drawing a hand across her forehead. The currently bald-by-fire barbarian then looks across the water to where the elves are trying (and failing) to climb. She looks to the pulley, and up to the curved glass - before her eyes naturally track back to the rope around her waist. Wet now, but it's arcing down to her sword on the other side. She waves her hands and whistles, but the sound can' tbe heard, as she tries to get Aya's attention. And points to her rope before making 'tie' motions.

Ga'Elian sits down to take a moment to calm himself, using the natural scenery of this room to recenter in a zen manner.

<OOC> Bitr says, "By the by, anything on this side I can tie my end of the rope too to help the others up?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Besides the lever? :D"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Err, pulley?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Actually - you said the rope was too thin for any moderate weight. What about the pulley itself?"
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Where's that potion of Levitate when I need it?"

Malorn winces as he watches Ga'elian fall, "Are you all right? Do you want me to throw down your things?"

<OOC> Bitr says, "Also, I think Ga is climbing -up-, not down. UP a vine to a platform 30 ft up."
<OOC> Aya kicks RL. "Oh, right. Loud room."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Like I climbed across the river and up."
<OOC> Ga'Elian never got anywhere, anyway, so is right next to his things.
<OOC> Bitr points up at her pose, Aya. :D I'm pantomiming!
<OOC> Malorn says, "Then strike my pose."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Vogue"
<OOC> Iadoth slaps forehead
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Okay, I have to leave work in 5 minutes."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "When is everyone okay to carry on?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Oh no!"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Tomorrow! :D"
<OOC> Malorn says, "I can do tomorrow, but after that I won't be on in the morning."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Sure, but better at 4pm your time."
<OOC> Aya will be around tomorrow.
<OOC> Iadoth would only have 90 minutes from 4pm.
<OOC> Bitr says, "Come, Aya! We'll let them try the vine whilst we explore the natural wonders of Doom Cliff"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Also known as Madness Bluff, Why-Are-You-Doing-This Cove, and Suicide Leap."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Weekdays are far and away my best times."
<OOC> Iadoth will do something tomorrow. "See you around guys, and thanks."

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Say that OOC bit again for the log, Ga."

Ga'Elian makes yet another attempt to scale the masonry wall with the vine assist.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Lovely. Theoretically that's enough to get you 7.5ft up."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "good."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Now do that four more times. :D"

Already above his own height, Ga'Elian has plenty of time to look at other things on the north wall as he struggles up. There are three other points of interest on the north wall, before the river at least. The nearest is what looks like a ladder, rising up from some brush at ground level. You can only assume the brush is covering something else.

GAME: Ga'Elian rolls athletics: (20)+7: 27
<OOC> Iadoth says, "15 ft. up..."
<OOC> Bitr giggles. OH LOOK A LADDER
<OOC> Bitr says, "Aya, did you remember my pose to you?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "The ladder leads somewhere else, actually."
<OOC> Bitr waved to try and catch your attention, then pantomimed tying off the rope I'd left trailing from me across the river to my sword
      on the other side?
<OOC> Bitr says, ".. Which is already tied to the sword, so I guess you'd have to untie it first."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Hey, DM, I forgot to ask and I don't see an answer. Would pulling someone up with a rope be the same as dragging for
      carrying capacity checks?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Or lifting?"
<OOC> Iadoth thinks it depends largely on situation.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Lifting is sort of 'dead lift', isn't it."
<OOC> Bitr says, "I think so. Lifting it over your head."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Dragging is more like pulling something which is behind you."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Right. Not trying to lift it, just trying to get horizontal movement. Which if a rope is dangling over and edge and you're
pulling it towards you, is that horizontal dragging or vertical lifting? :O"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Sounds like dragging."
<OOC> Bitr nods. Just checking on the off chance I end up having to help folks up.
<OOC> Bitr says, "Keep going Ga! OR are you and Aya getting ready to pose?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Anyone like to pose?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Also! DM! Anything up here I can tie the rope off too?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "My rope, that is."

Ga'Elian sees the ladder and says, pointing at it, "Aya, from here, I see a ladder of sorts concealed in yonder shrubbery." He then continues to ascend the vine and wall.

GAME: Ga'Elian rolls athletics: (17)+7: 24
<OOC> Iadoth says, "22.5 ft up, one more success roll to get to the upper platform. Also remember the volume in this room; talking to get heard is tricky."
GAME: Ga'Elian rolls athletics: (13)+7: 20
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Yay!"
<OOC> Ga'Elian guesses that if this vine supported my weight, that my chain shirt and buckler could be tied to it and hoisted up? (Assuming
      Aya did me the favor?)

Finally, after several attempts, Ga'Elian reaches the upper platform, some 30 ft. in the air. From here, the room is laid out below you in dizzying perspective; the ceiling, too, is only 10 ft. away at this height. You can see the ancient nests covering the roof lights, blocking out almost all light.

There's something else up here too --- a red glass dome, mounted upon a mechanism.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Yes, those things could be hoisted up."

Aya can't hear much over the roar, despite proportionally large ears. She can, however, see well. The mini-giant's pantomiming draws her to the rope to tie it off. After that, the pointing from above gets her attention to approach... the shrubbery!

<OOC> Aya is sorry but will be slow for a few.

The lucht looks up from Aya to watch the elf climb on the other side of the room, up towards a distant platform. Then shrugs and goes back to hunting for something to tie her end of the rope off too, shrugging the coils off her waist as she hunts.

Failing that? Curiosity is going to drag her towards the pulley with the glass cover. She glances over at the others, then?

She's gonna give the rope an experimental tug. What's that curved glass dooooo?

<OOC> Bitr says, "Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead!"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Yours is indigo, isn't it, Bitr."
<OOC> Bitr grins.

As the lucht experiments with the pulleys, she finds it able to tilt left and right, up and down. When left to its own devices, the thing holds for a few moments, then moves back to its original position. For what purpose this thing moves, it's not entirely clear, but that's what it does.

<OOC> Bitr says, "A toy. :O"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Maybe"
<OOC> Ga'Elian doesn't know Handspeak, but appreciates its value.
<OOC> Iadoth nodnods!
<OOC> Iadoth says, "What are you going to do up there, Ga?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "By the by. Anywhere I can tie off my end of the rope, now that Aya tied off hers?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "The rock here is pretty smooth. You could tie it to the mechanism, I suppose. Unless you have something in your
possession that you could do it wiht."

Ga'Elian tries to gesture from the edge of the platform for Aya to tie his armor && shield to the vine. If she seems to get it, he hoists them up. If she ties th vine around her and carries his stuff, he assists as much as his strength and survival skills permit.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Either will be fine."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "What's your strength, Ga'Elian?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "You would have no problem bringing Aya and your gear up, by the looks of things."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Now then."
<OOC> Ga'Elian :)

From your vantage point you can spot that the ladder terminates at another platform some 5 ft. below this one. There is a mechanism there, too, with an orange-coloured glass dome instead of this red one. Beyond that, there is another platform, again 5 ft. below the previous, but at this range its difficult to see what's present there. There may be another one yet before the river, but it's difficult to know.

<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "On my side or Bitr's?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "On your side, Ga'Elian."
<OOC> Bitr oo. Hey, DM~ .. How many of the pulley ropes are there?
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Where?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "On my side."
<OOC> Bitr was thinking about tying -them- to the rope so we can manipulate that glass without having to climb all the way back up there
      again.
<OOC> Bitr says, "back -over- there again."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "You've only investigated the ones attached to your nearby glass dome. There are two attached to that."
<OOC> Bitr nods.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "One for left-right, one for up-down."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Do the pulley mechanisms -look- sturdy?"
<OOC> Ga'Elian has no skill with engineering or artifice.
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "or architecture"
<OOC> Bitr says, "I shall use the BARBIE Test"

Bitr, the tiniest giant, watches Aya wander off after tying off her end of the rope, then looks about her own current predictament. Hm. After a thoughtful glance at the pulley mechanism itself, she'll try to reach up and grab it - and then hang from it. If the wood starts creaking, she'll release. But if it seems sturdy enough to hold her tiny weight, she'll loop her end of the rope onto it and tie off. Gotta beat trying to make that swim and climb again.

<OOC> Iadoth laughs.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Alright."

The pulley mechanism seems to hold under Bitr's weight, small as it might be. One would notice that the pulleys are going to move and change a lot under this strain, but that's what they're there for, isn't it?

<OOC> Bitr :3 Barbie technique for architecture sturdiness testing: "Stand on it and see if it breaks"
<OOC> Ga'Elian laughs. I'm heading to the office now. AFK for about 5 minutes.
<OOC> Bitr thinks Aya got nabbed by RL, so I'mma get down there and start on the ladder.Which means crossing by rope back to the other
side. Climbing DC, or take 10 if I'm being careful?
<OOC> Iadoth nods.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "You can take 10, because you've spent the time to tie it off."
<OOC> Bitr thumbs up.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "You're gonna like the ladder."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "It might be guarded by An Old Friend."
<OOC> Bitr says, ".. DOORS."
<OOC> Bitr glares

Quite pleased with herself and the mess she's starting to make, the dripping lucht grabs the rope, crosses her ankles over it and begins heading back to the other side of the river. Hitting the ground with a faint 'thud', and picking up her sword as she heads for the ladder, bush, and Aya. Leaving the rope swinging gently over the river, tied up on either side and perfect for getting back up there.

GAME: Bitr rolls perception: (16)+8: 24
<OOC> Bitr is checking for THINGS in the BUSH! Because nature is a horrible monster.

Hidden well within the bush is a tall, thick-set fence with a wooden door set into it. Through the fence you can make out the bottom of the ladder indicated to by Ga'Elian.

Bitr glances aside to Aya, then to the bushy door itself. She frowns, rubbing the back of a knuckle against her oft-broken nose, before moving forward - and knocking with a hard knuckle on the door itself. When she can't even hear the sound of knocking, she pounds hard with a full fist. Maybe someone lives here?

Perhaps unsurprisingly, seeing as you can see through the fence to either side of the door, there's no response from the pounding on the door. Well, except that you can see the door rattle on the hinges. Frankly it doesn't look too strong.

The lucht grunts to herself - she'd followed the rules! She pounded before kicking doors down, just as was explained to her in 'The City' - the halfling then tries the door knob. If that fails? Well..

Then it's time for 'barbie lockpicking' with the oversized broardsword.

<OOC> Bitr says, "Eer, oversized greatsword."
<OOC> Iadoth nods.

The doorknob doesn't budge. It's jammed. It's so damp in here that the door has probably just expanded in the frame a bit. It's probably not going to be too difficult to just barge the b****r open.

<OOC> Ga'Elian is back.
<OOC> Bitr giggles. Strength roll or damage roll?
<OOC> Bitr says, "Heyo! I'm over at the bushy ladder as Aya's still got RL problems."

The platform itself is a simple rocky platform, made from flat rock and built firmly into the north and east walls. The latter is featureless and bare, whilst the former features the other, lower platforms a few feet away.

<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Are they shading things into obscurity, or is it just that there's an over density of underbrush?"

Ga'Elian looks at Bitr and shouts, "WOULDST THOU HAVE ME COME THITHER AND TRY IT?"

The Lucht - utterly oblivious because HOLY CRAP WATERFALL ERASES ALL SOUND AAAUGH - just continues to merrily chop away at the door. Singing a song in jotun. Which is supposed to hit gut wrenching bassitones, which just makes it weird when she does it. At least, if anyone could hear it.

It looks ancient, in fact, but whatever nested there must have been rather large, perhaps the size of a diatryma, but presumably something that could have flown to get up here. They must have nested close to the ceiling to be near the light, but once they'd all done this, it had a detrimental effect on the rest of the room. The thing clings to the ceiling largely by pressure, it seems.

Ga'Elian, satisfied, begins to clear the nest away.

<OOC> Ga'Elian can do it carefully, or in barbarian style.

The first nest falls away from the ceiling, unleashing a bright beam of daylight into the room below.

Ga'Elian proceeds to clear away the others with a bit less caution than that eployed with the first.

<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "or "...eMployed...""
<OOC> Iadoth hrrmm. "You can only reach a few from here, unless you employ some other means."
<OOC> Ga'Elian has means. *grin*.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Pose ya's means, in that case!"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "They ain't too tricky to dislodge."

Ga'Elian, seeing that he can only reach a few of the nests, pulls out a quarterstaff from his magical quiver, and uses it to poke, prod, push, or whack at them as needed.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Oh, that's fun."
<OOC> Bitr is back! From a phone call.
<OOC> Ga'Elian has an Efficient Quiver, or as he likes to call it, a Quiver of Eluna.
<OOC> Bitr says, "By the by. Can I pose crashing in the door to the ladder, or was there some other HORROR to unleash upon me? :D"
<OOC> Bitr says, ".. Besides falling nests."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Also, Ga: Someday you will learn. Barbie ways are best ways."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Heh."
<OOC> Ga'Elian needs money, lots of money, the kind that only comes with mucho XP.

With a sizeable chunk of ceiling cleared of nests, much of the northeast corner of the room is now well illuminated. You can see Bitr in the shrubbery below, beating the crap out of a door. At the top of that ladder is another pulley-lens combination, in orange glass. Over again there is a narrow ledge, at 45 degrees, leading up from the floor to a platform with yet another lens, in yellow glass. And by the river, a low platform edged in sharp flints and broken glass is home to another lens, in green. There is a pulley-lens above the grate in the river, in blue glass. Beyond that, you can't see.

The beams of light don't quite extend to the waterfall yet, so the south part of the room isn't quite illuminated.

<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Can't see beyond the blue grate because of cover or poor lighting?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "We can see what's on the north side of the room clearly. But now we'll have to figure out a way to get the south side's
      nests clear~"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "I was thinking poor lighting, but in a way maybe it's not so serious."
<OOC> Ga'Elian is just saying, the elves here can see in poor illumination as if in regular daylight.

On the east side of the river, 5 ft above the ground, is another lens, in indigo glass. Finally, a single violet lens, without a pulley, sits at ground level, 10 ft. to the right of the indigo one. It's in a slight dip in the rocks, so Bitr would be forgiven for not noticing it in the gloom.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Let's switch the focus back to Bitr for a minute."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Okie doke."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "... unnnnless she's gone."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Are you having fun?"
<OOC> Ga'Elian is.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Lovely."

Hitting the splintering door with one last hard swing, Bitr kicks in the remnants with a satisfied grunt. Before taking a moment to stomp on her fallen foe with her bare heel.

"Damn-ed construct! Mine strength in arm hast felled you to disgrace!" Stomp, stomp. And then she gets hit by a bit of falling nest. Sputting and spitting out old grass, she squints upwards at the sudden lightooc I'm here!

<OOC> Bitr says, "Woop."
<OOC> Bitr says, "I'm here!"
<OOC> Bitr says, "I was just typing."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Oh right!"
<OOC> Ga'Elian should buy some alchemical fire grenades.

Behind the door, to no great surprise, you reveal a ladder leading up towards the ceiling. In the fresh daylight, you can see a lens-pulley combination at the top of the ladder, some 25 ft. away.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "No climb check needed for the ladder, really."

.. Candle! Because there were no lightbulbs around!

Giving the door one last kick and utterly forgetting why she wanted in there in the first place, she walks back to the center of the room and waves her arms up to get Ga's attention. Then points south at the nests there.

And then begins walking that way, looking for something akin to what the elf used. VINES.

<OOC> Bitr says, "What, do things the easy way?"
<OOC> Bitr is going to see if she can get the nests down off the southern side too.
<OOC> Bitr says, "..OR if there's a way UP first."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Great plan!"
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "So, all these pulleys and whatnot, does the overall view resemble anything familiar?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "My plans are always great. They may not be smart, or safe, or effecient, but we WILL have adventure, dammit."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Not really. It just seems like a series of slightly unusual physical challenges, leading to an adjustable mechanism
      designed to move a lens."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Well, that's something."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "In order, just to summarise, the lens are: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet."
<OOC> Bitr says, "The problem is getting them to stay there."
<OOC> Bitr says, "They swing back after a few moments of inattentiveness. :O"
<OOC> Bitr is already plotting horrible things to fix that.
<OOC> Iadoth notes that /Bitr's/ mechanism did that. "They will not all, because you don't have enough people."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Ooo."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "A huge contraption that invokes the bifrost bridge to Asgard?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "That or pretty rainbows. I like rainbows. They have the color of blood and gold in them!"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "That's just a GM fiat. The plot is designed for up to six."
<OOC> Bitr was just going to put knots in the rope to hold them steady when I get them where I want them. :3
<OOC> Iadoth says, "That works even better! Forget I said anything!"
<OOC> Bitr says, ".. oop"
<OOC> Ga'Elian spoopses he can't reach the other nests even with the quarterstaff, could I shoot them down with successful archery?
<OOC> Ga'Elian supposes he can't reach the other nests even with the quarterstaff, could I shoot them down with successful archery?
<OOC> Bitr is going to think you're doing this on purpose. Walking to southern side, looking for vine-pfft, sputter sputter, more nests falling
      down from above, DAMN ELF
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Ha ha."

The southern wall is bare masonry, wet, smooth and unclimbable. Nothing of note is there present. As you get closer, it's getting more gloomy, of course.

<OOC> Bitr says, "Go for iiiit."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "You can indeed shoot them down."
<OOC> Ga'Elian sends Bitr a +nom for amusement.
<OOC> Bitr grins.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Theoretically, the AC of these nests is something like 3? So, given enough time and arrows, you can clear the ceiling of
    nests."

Ga'Elian stows his quarterstaff in his quiver and extracts from it a nice composite bow as tall as himself. He slides the bowstring into place then stands and takes aim, firing arrows at the remaining nests.

GAME: Ga'Elian rolls bow: aliased to Weapon7: (17)+9: 26
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "etc."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "I am fine with that. You can't miss with a bonus like that."

Ga'Elian grins as his hail of arrows knocks the ancient nests down.

<OOC> Bitr says, "Roll one. Hit Bitr. "THATS IT! GET DOWN HERE SO I CAN GNAW!"
<OOC> Ga'Elian should take a rank in Use Rope.

Bitr the Barbie frowns at the smooth wall, slapping it once with an open palm out of frustration. Maybe she can work her fingers into the groove or-

Pfft. Sputter, sputter. NEST. MORE NESTS! Covering her head with her hands, Bitr runs back to the north before looking up.

And shaking her tiny fist at Ga'Elian. She's also shouting something - it's probably about his parentage. Good thing the waterfall removes all sound.

Finally grumbling, the tiniest giant heads back to her rope that shortcuts over the river to the platform..

<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Oh, wait Use Rope isn't in Pathfinder, is it?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Nope!"

After seventeen shots, the ceiling is clear of nests. Beams of light come through one at a time, until the room is flooded with light, revealing...

A beautiful rainbow shines across from the waterfall, one side touching the south wall, the other side touching the north wall. The colours, of course, are vibrant red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet, broken into separate beams that fall onto lens-pulley systems. From there, the beams are scattered in various directions, none quite aligning with one another.

<OOC> Bitr says, "Pathfinder tends towards more open ended skill. Use Rope was very odd and very specific for a skill."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Like knowledge: Bears"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "It's probably covered by a Profession now."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Basically."
<OOC> Bitr says, "By the by - take ten again to climb back across the river on my rope? Or need a roll this time to see if I get dunked?"
<OOC> Iadoth is happy for you to take 10.
<OOC> Bitr thumbs up.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "I was hoping someone would try long-jumping it."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Your way was just as funny."
<OOC> Bitr giggles. You WANT someone to get trapped up against the grill and be spun around sputtering in water.
<OOC> Ga'Elian quotes the 3.5 to PF conversion document: "Use Rope is now a part of Climb or a function of the grapple rules, depending on
      the use."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Yeah, there you go."
<OOC> Iadoth gotcha.
<OOC> Iadoth thought Profession/Sailor would cover it, but may be thinking of 7th Sea.
<OOC> Bitr says, "That seems fair to me. I mean, DM perogative and rule 0 and all that"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Rule 0 is definitely 'make sure the players have fun'."
<OOC> Ga'Elian asks, "So, have we anything to gain yet in this room, or is it time to go to the ear room or one of the other doors out there?"

The tiny halfling once again leaves her greatsword by the shore before hauling herself back up the drooping line and to the other side of the river. Panting slowly as she works the kink out of her fingers, she moves towards the pulley system. Putting her hands on her hips as she stares up at the misaligned colors.

Even a rock head like her knows where THIS is going! She glances up at the elf - then tries to yank on the 'vertical' bit to line the color up at his face. SEE HOW YOU LIKE THINGS HITTNG YOUR FACE ALTHOUGH NOT PHYSICALLY lIKE A NEST.

<OOC> Ga'Elian could RP a detailed check of the room, but, if there's no RP point to it, tries to move the plot along.
<OOC> Bitr says, "We've got a bunch of colored glass here sending rainbow colors everywhere."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "You have things to gain. Remember that there is a niche below each symbol next to the door, into which you can
assume some kind of item is supposed to fit. You have not yet found that item."
<OOC> Bitr says, "And the glass is alignable~"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "The glass is indeed alignable."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Fair enouh."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Lovely. Bitr, give me a Disable Device check."

Ga'Elian will try to follow Bitr's lead.

<OOC> Bitr squints.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "I think you have to type Dexterity, but just tell me your modifier."
<OOC> Bitr says, "My dex is +4, plus small size."
<OOC> Bitr says, "+4 mod off attributes only"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "I don't /think/ small size comes into that roll."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Okay. You can direct the beam where you want, in that case."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "If there are pulleys witin my reach, I also try to align the relevant lenses."
<OOC> Bitr says, "There's the one on the platform you climbed up too."
GAME: Ga'Elian rolls disable device: (9)+5: 14
<OOC> Iadoth says, "To where are you trying to send the beam?"
<OOC> Bitr also shines a green light at your FACE. Take that!

As you examine the coloured lights, you notice that the violet lens, which is not adjustable, is not deflecting light in any direction.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Also I know that rainbows don't really work like this, but ... DM fiat."
<OOC> Bitr asides. Is the violet light the one near me?
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Good question. So the rainbow was already together, because if it was not, I try to make it so. If it was, then I'll try to
shine the light directly into the waterfall."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Light's coming from the waterfall. I say we shine everything on the violet lense."
<OOC> Bitr says, "The one that can't be adjusted."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "The violet light is the one furthest away, in the dip on the eastern side of the river."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Err, rainbow's coming from the waterfall, not light"
<OOC> Iadoth ohhhh farts and blazes, I have to leave work soonish.
<OOC> Bitr laughs!
<OOC> Bitr says, "How long've you got?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "What's your plan, go with Elian or Bitr?"
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "sure, the violet lens, then."
<OOC> Iadoth can stretch it to 20 minutes.
<OOC> Bitr says, "With me! Because I have the BEST ideas."
<OOC> Bitr posing~
<OOC> Ga'Elian concedes the point.

Grinning toothily, the halfling swings her light about dizzily around the room - until she spots the violet lense. Without the pulley rope combo of the others. Squinting in confusion, and a bit of annoyance, she shines the light towards THAT lens. Take THAT non-mobile glass!

Nothing happens, but the light is shining on the violet lens. Until you take your hands away, that is --- perhaps the water is interfering with the mechanism.

Ga'Elian seeing where Bitr sends her light, sends his there, too.

Bitr glances up as a new light joins where hers went - and then refocuses her own. Before reaching up to knot the rope off and KEEP it there, so she can start back across the rope for the others. One of these things is not like the other! Even a barbie can figure that game out

The beam of red light bleeds into the next lens, where it is mixed with the orange light and diverted away, towards the ceiling.

<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Is there a convenient way to get back down from the platform? Rappel down the way I climbed up?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "You can do that, no problem."

Ga'Elian rappels down from the platform the way he formerly ascended.

<OOC> Bitr says, "Let's see. How many lenses left? Mine was done, ga's was done, two more?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Four more."
<OOC> Bitr nods. ON ladders and platforms along the northern wall?
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Up the ladder, up the narrow ledge, up on a jagged platform, next to the grate in the river."
<OOC> Bitr nods.
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Can I get to any of them easily from the vine?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "No. The next easiest one is the ladder, which is already resolved."

When Bitr finishes crawling back over the river on her rope, she waves emphatically to the descending Ga'Elian. Then goes to the formerly hidden lens near the grate - looking to see if she can direct THAT one towards the violent lens. Bright colors and physical activity? It's like a dream come true for a lucht barbie, if she wasn't so busy trying to be a grim faced giant.

The lens near the grate is above the raging torrent of the river. To access the mechanism, you'll have to be in the water. It's probably loose, too.

<OOC> Bitr grins. Swim check and climb check?
<OOC> Bitr says, "Or actually.. can I cling to my rope and reach it?"

Ga'Elian gets down again and strips off, leaving naught on but his braies, and wades into the water.

<OOC> Bitr shall leave THAT one to GA!
<OOC> Iadoth says, "You'd need to leave both hands free to use the mechanism properly."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "repeats, naught but braies."
GAME: Ga'Elian rolls athletics: (11)+7: 18

Bitr the Tiny Giant frowns at Ga'Elian as he strips. And makes a face. Ugh. Small folk. And then she's heading for the ladder, from which to climb -up- and set THAT lens. IF they split up the tasks, it'll take.. uh.. less time!

<OOC> Iadoth says, "You can pose that if you want."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "is it closer for me to get to another one by continuing Across the water or returning whence I came?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Now. Narrow ledge and jagged platform - can I get to either from up here?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Bitr, yours is setup. There are just two left to do: The narrow ledge and the jagged platform."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "No, Bitr."
<OOC> Bitr nods.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Well, you could try a long jump from a standing start."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Frankly I don't rate your chances."
<OOC> Bitr grins.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Ga'Elian, it's closer to return."

Ga'Elian wades/swims out to the mechanism in the water, and works at it for a bit, finally sending a shaft of blue light to the indigo lens, together with the other aligned ones.

Ga'Elian returns to his things by the door.

Setting up the one on the platform took longer than Bitr would have liked. At last huffing in annoyance and rolling out her shoulders, the tiny barbarian heads back down the ladder to the ground. And then? Time to go look up at the jagged platform, and find a way up TO it.

Ga'Elian looks for a ladder or some other means of accessing the jagged platform.

The jagged platform is only 3 ft. above the ground, but hoisting oneself up to it will certainly result in rather nasty injuries.

<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Can I get there, or boost Bitr up to it?"
<OOC> Ga'Elian stands 5 ft 4 inches.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "One could jump up to it?"
<OOC> Bitr says, ".."
<OOC> Bitr holds her arms. "Up. UP!"
<OOC> Iadoth looks at +glance. "Not quite."

Ga'Elian says to Bitr (still wearing naught but drenched braies, but totally unabashed)1, "Wouldst thou like to get it, or shall I?"

Bitr glances up to Ga'Elian, and makes a face again. "Mine eyes see a pitiful challenge for a giant of mine ilk. The deed is yours, Master Barechest. I'll fetch the last." And she's heading for the narrow ledge..

Ga'Elian, after repeated attempts, FINALLY manages to align the lens. He then hops back down.

As the last two beams of light combine into the final lens, there is a change in the timbre of the water flow as a rock rises from the stream bed near to the crest. This parts the waterfall, revealing a shallow cave behind. At the same time, stepping stones appear as the flowrate drops and the pool level falls slightly.

<OOC> Iadoth grins.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "We can keep going, things are almost resolved here."
<OOC> Ga'Elian will now await the return of Aya and/or Bitr, or even Malorn.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Malorn is watching XMen."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "okay, well. I suppose I can ghost the party for a bit."

Ga'Elian and his companions follow the stepping-stone path.

<OOC> Iadoth could return in an hour or so, briefly. Actually that won't work...
<OOC> Iadoth says, "You could ghost. There are no rolls left to do."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Sure. Following the stepping stones."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Are you posing?"
<OOC> Ga'Elian did, just a moment ago. Can repeat if you'd like.
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Marching order: Bitr, Aya, Ga'Elian, Malorn."

Within the shallow cave is a raised dais with a small altar carved from the rock. Atop this is a small, jade sphere, carved with beautiful intricate lines in an abstract geometric pattern. It is very beautiful to look upon.

<OOC> Ga'Elian doesnt have knowledge/religion skill or any kind of lore ability.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "That's okay."

Ga'Elian traces the lines on the altar with his finger.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Oh! It's the sphere which is carved. And it's removable. Not attached."

Ga'Elian then collects the beautiful sphere, and returns with the rest of the party to the circular room, depositing the sphere in the space by the door.

<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Boom!"

As the sphere is placed in the eye niche, a cover comes down with a soft click. Then there is a thud as the thing presumably falls away, hidden. Nothing else seems to happen, but the roar from the waterfall room appears to resume its previous roar.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "And that's it for the Eye Room!"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Pose out if you wish (that applies to anyone). I'll post a time for the next bit soon."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Thanks Elian!"
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Cool, thanks. Can't commit on the weekend."
<OOC> Iadoth can't either.
<OOC> Ga'Elian will refrain from posing out, as he is simply going to continue in this room (perhaps the ear room).
Bitr has connected.
<OOC> Bitr says, "OKAY!"
<OOC> Bitr says, "I'm back!"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Short meeting."
<OOC> Bitr says, "What did I miss?"
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Just in time, too. We found a sphere on an altar and took it back to the door, putting it into the slot. The rushing noise
of the waterfall resumed, and the plot is suspended until sometime yet to be determined."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Gotcha! Okay!"
<OOC> Bitr says, "One room down! And I have the -best- ideas for the dark room!"
<OOC> Bitr says, "here's a hint; Lots of rocks. :O"
<OOC> Ga'Elian was having a hard time getting what the place looked like and how to deal with it, but greatly appreciates the way you took
      the lead.
<OOC> Bitr thumbs up. :3 No prob, bob!
<OOC> Bitr says, "When she said it was basically a nature preserve indoors, I went -OH-. It's an indoor jungle adventure!"
<OOC> Bitr says, "So everythings on rocks or on the cliff or in the bushes or in the air near vines."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Yeah. So there's the (dark) ear room, but we have two Shadow Elves in the party who can see just fine in total
      darkness."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Also, there is a trap to spring behind the cylindrical center of the round room, with the door to the hand roo behind the
trap. Then, of course, the core of the room has its locked door, where we presume there are stairs. I'm guessing the door unlocks when
we put the ear thingy and hand thingy in their repective places."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Inevitably, I'm going to go stumbling into the ear place and get lost."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Otherwise, we have ways of bashing in the door."
<OOC> Ga'Elian has a +17 on perception and a +4 dex bonus for stumbling around blind, but no darkvision nor blindfighting feat.
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Aya, are you getting all this?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "I'm actually kinda excited for being absolutely blind and seeing how Iadaoth can describe a room via sound."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Heh, yeah, and smell."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "I've never really given much thought to what Ga'Elian looks like stripped. I gurssjust a tallish, athletic elf with long
coppery-brown hair, teal eyes, mostly fair skin, and nearly devoid of body hair."
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "He's young by elf standards (only 116 years old, but with elves, their age"
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "isn't usually easy to tell by their looks."
<OOC> Ga'Elian notices that Bitr isn't on the RPThree comm channel.
<OOC> Bitr says, "I completely forgot to be so!"
<OOC> Bitr says, "And as for Bitr - she's a hard little knot of scar tissue and rage. :3 Because barbarians live rough lives. Also she thinks
she's a giant, so anyone under nine foot tall is basically a no-go."
<OOC> Ga'Elian loves that about her.
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "My wizard speaks Jotun."
<OOC> Bitr laughs! Then we should speak it! I talk a lot better in my 'native' language. :D All I've ever heard in tradespeak are stories, so.
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "If Ga'Elian were (for some reason) to burn a couple skill ranks on linguistics, he'd take draconic and auran, to talk to
sith-makar and egalrin, without tradespeak. He doesn't like tradespeak, and speaks it in a Shakespeary way, but not any other language."
<OOC> Ga'Elian doesn't speak Jotun, but Raniq does.
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Oops, that was OOC!"
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Wanna go ongrid and RP with Raniq?"
<OOC> Ga'Elian could use all the RPPs he can get.
