<OOC> Iadoth nodnods.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Okay! We're all here now."

Deep inside the Deluge Mines, the khazad have been digging deep again. But shortly after the appearance of the Earth Elemental on the surface, they found a dark tunnel leading deep into the mountainside. Had the movement uncovered it? Had something else made it, very quickly? Or is something else even more bizarre at work here? They don't know, but miners, tough as they are, ain't adventurers.

NOT LIKE YOU!

That's why you're here, then. Time to check out this place.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "I am using a system partially invented by John Harper called 'friction'. We'll start off on a d12, and this gets rolled periodically. If it's a 1, then a wandering monster appears. Everytime you do something loud, or of note, the die drops a step (d10, d8, d6, d4, d3, d2)."
<OOC> Fiore says, "Oh this'll be fun."
<OOC> Fiore says, "XD"
<OOC> Halena hee.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "I hope so."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Neat!"
GAME: Halena refreshes spells.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "I know, it's a really neat system. There's another company who publish things with a 'Chaos' system, which does something similar except just with thematic creepy stuff."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Hydra Collective, that's it."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Anyway."

The tunnel is just wide enough for one person to walk comfortably. The temperature matches that of the mines itself --- a little hot, a little stuffy, but breathable. Underfoot are flagstones, rather than hewn rock. And, most notably, it's /dark/ in there. You can't see more than ten feet past the illuminated mine corridor.

One of the larger people to check out the deluge mine, Fiore might have to duck just a smidge to make her way into the mine. "And they wonder why Giantborn don't like small spaces." She says softly as she stands up a little straighter, making sure there's not a rock just overhead.

Sunguard Halena studies the mine entrance with narrowed eyes, shield resting over her arm. "Sun Lord tell me how I get myself into these things," she murmurs, shaking her head, then looks up, businesslike. "Well, if we're to do this, best we be about it." She's not overly large for a human, and doesn't appear to have a lot of trouble.

For all the good things Dog is, the oversized canine is not a cave splunker. Sliding off the back of the shaggy monstrosity, Bitr gives it a pat on the side before grunting 'Sit' in jotun. Yes, jotun. Hitching her shoulders, the dimunitive figure begins heading in. Of course, she just happens to nearly stumble into Fiore. The lucht turning her head upwards, and flashing a feral grin.

Bitr says "<something you don't understand in jotun>"

And then she turns her attention back towards the darkness, squinting.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "You can take the dog, if you want."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "They might be the favourite food of something inside."

Lyrana needed to get out and about a bit, the temple had claimed her just a bit much. The golem bears her tabard marking her as a chosen of Daeus as well. She does not to the others. She bears customizations that make her look a little more female, but there is still that expressionless face. She nods her head, "We end up in them because we are best suited for them." she says.

<OOC> Bitr says, "Hey hey. What if I have a growth spurt and reach my appropriate size of nine feet? Poor Dog would be crushed to death."
<OOC> Iadoth laughs.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Okay, there's dark to deal with here. Anyone got a solution?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Illuminated corridor with lanterns, right? .. Or torches?"
<OOC> Halena says, "Ha. Light should be an orison."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "The corridor /outside/ is illuminated. It's dark within."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Right, right, the corridor outside. Or is it illuminated with natural light?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "It's illuminated with torches, sorry. You're deep inside the mine here."

Looking around for the one who spoke Jotun, Fiore looks at Bitr and chuckles. "I'm sorry, I'm a little nearsighted. I swear I can see that far down to the ground." She jokes as she talks to Bitr in Jotun. "I've been away from the homelands for a long time." She says looks towards the darker tunnel. "anyone have light?"

<OOC> Bitr nods.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Well, okay. Lanterns, let's say. Safer not to have a naked flame around."
<OOC> Lyrana says, "I have light prepped so can cast it for the benefit of the others."

Lyrana has no problem seeing in the dark but at the question and a look to the others in the party she nods. She touches her holy symbol and with a murmer of a brief prayer, her heavy mace which she pulls out starts to glow.

GAME: Lyrana casts Light. Caster Level: 5 DC: 14
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Great."

"Pfah. Speak to me when I use your shoulders as a foot stool!"

The wild lucht barks her laughter in jotun, taking a 'fellow giantborn's ribbing in stride. She then glares ahead towards the darkness, and grunts. Before switching to a very, very archaic form of tradespeak for the benefit of others.

"Mine steps will lead to'ward the top once more, there to find mine hands around a lantern-" She breaks off as Lyr's mace begins to glow.

".. OR that can be a thing." Still, problem solved.

Ahead of you, the tunnel stretches only 30 ft. or so. You can see at the end, a finely carpented wooden door, which is closed. Presumably why the khazad didn't want to venture further.

Fiore says, "Your legs aren't long enough." She says with a soft laugh, but she does stay within the light of the lighted mace. "Thank you, Sunguards." She says before she spots the door. "Well....damn.""

<OOC> Bitr says, "By the by, is there a pose order, or just every few people?"
<OOC> Fiore says, "No pose order. I figured you'd just wait for me."
<OOC> Fiore will brb there.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "No set order, really. Just howsoever it comes."
<OOC> Bitr nods. Wanted to make sure I don't run over the god botherers. ;)
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Okay, door ahead!"

<OOC> Halena says, "I'm not too worried, Bitr's be hard pressed to run over an ant."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Okay, pose it up."
<OOC> Halena :D
<OOC> Iadoth says, "It's true. Them damn ants."
<OOC> Bitr angry eyes. ;)
<OOC> Iadoth laughs. Everyone still here?
<OOC> Halena says, "Yes."

"Father says its but a phase. My crown will scrape the top of khazad yet!"

Grunts the halfling, before she resolutely moves forward towards the door. Taking time to mind her steps as well, because - well - falling into a five foot hole and getting stuck would be horrible!

"Fancy door, mine thoughts go. Fancier than the stone to which she is wed!"

She'll put her ear up against the portal, -listening- before opening it.

<OOC> Bitr says, "Just giving the clerics a chance to pose up. :D"

Lyrana stares straight ahead. "So who wants to open the door?" she asks holding her mace up so others can see.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Three logicians walk into a bar. The barman asks, 'Do you all want a drink?' The first says, 'Maybe', the second says, 'Maybe!' and the third says, 'YES!'"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Perception'd be a fine plan."
<OOC> Bitr nods!
<OOC> Bitr says, "Lessee. That's wisdom?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "No, a skill. HA!"
GAME: Bitr rolls perception: (14)+7: 21

Halena remains towards the back of the group, letting other folk open mighty doors and such.

As the halfling puts his ear to the door, she can hear something on the other side. Some kind of squeaking, creaking noise. It doesn't sound as if it's right next to the door, but it's present nonetheless.

"Heh. Mine ears do catch a nasty sound."

A glance back to the other three; Puny mortals who just happened to be over three foot tall! Not like Bitr the Mighty. "Mine that thy step to the side; Me thinks there be a rush outwards once I open yon door, aye?" A flash of feral teeth, as she waits for the others to step - well, out of a direct line if they can.

And then she'll flatten herself up against the wall and open the door. OPEN IT!

<OOC> Bitr says, "Ahem. Mind that thy"

The door opens easily, as though it's been well-made, and well-maintained. As it yawns open, the lit mace reveals...

Precisely, nothing. The room is large, and almost devoid of features. Well, except for another door on the other side of the room, from where a faint creaking sound can be heard. Oh, and on the southern wall, some ne'erdowell has scrawled something in runiform.

GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d12: (10): 10

Lyrana moves into the room now that the door is open. She glances arund, the runiform drawing her attention for a moment.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "You speak dorf?"
<OOC> Lyrana says, "nope"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Anyone can make a Linguistics check to have a go at reading it."

The wildling looks almost disappointed at the lack of explosives, arrows, or enemies. Grumbling to herself in jotun - which sounds wierd coming from her higher pitched voice - she moves into the room after Lyrana. She gives the runiforms a disinterested glance before moving towards the other, creaking door. Once again putting her ear near it to give it a listen. What -is- that sound...

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Perception check?"
<OOC> Bitr is barbarian! I read nothing! :D
GAME: Bitr rolls perception: (16)+7: 23

The barbarian may read nothing, and on this occasion, hears nothing too. Well, there you go.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Halena, Fiore?"
<OOC> Fiore thuds
<OOC> Halena does not have the appropriate skill. I can roll perception, though.
GAME: Halena rolls perception.: (17)+perception.: 17
GAME: Fiore rolls perception: (4)+12: 16
GAME: Halena rolls perception: (18)+3: 21
<OOC> Fiore just got back
<OOC> Halena keep the original roll, so should be a 20.
<OOC> Bitr says, "Sister-Giant! :D Welcome back."

Try as they might, the cleric and the monk have no better luck at hearing things through the door, apart from the strange creaking. The door feels as though its shifting, almost below perception. Perhaps the earth is shifting slightly. Maybe its something more sinister. At any rate, the door remains, resolutely, the only other thing in the room.

Bitr doesn't know much about fear, but she does know about respect. You respect the horse sized wolf by not kicking its annoying pup off your mount. You respect the god whisperers who murmur and knit flesh. This door? This door has done nothing to earn respect but be creaky and unhelpful. There for, giving once more a warning to mind their steps, the halfling moves to flatten herself against the inside wall and open the door! Because who needs reading, yeah?

"I can't hear anything on the other side of the door, nor can I read this script guys. anyone want to knock or, if they have a bad feeling, I can destroy the door." Fiore's blunt, isn't she?

The door remains disrespectful, rudely refusing to open under the pitter-patter of tiny hands. You can't see any locks attached to the dread thing, so you must assume it's wedged shut. For Pete's sake.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Someone can make a break check against the door, or else try and b****r the thing up some other way."

"Pfah. Scribbles in stone."

Grunts the halfling, as she tries to yank the door open. And fails. Then tries a few more times, the hard knots of muscle on her arms starting to rise. "She's stuck! Wedded firmly to her husband, Sire Rockwall." She steps back, spits on her palms, and pulls that broken, oversized weapon out from over her shoulder.

"Aye, put thine shoulder to the oak and splinter her firmly!" She states to Fiore. The -other- Giantborn in the room.

<OOC> Fiore is a Giantborn. I don't need no STEEENKING rolls.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Orly."
<OOC> Fiore says, "yes really."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "I have a CRB that begs to differ."
<OOC> Iadoth :P
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Why don't you need a roll?"
<OOC> Fiore says, "Feat of Strength: Giantborn may perform feats of strength that even other giant kind marvel at. Once per day, he may take 20 on a raw Strength check, Climb check, or Swim check without need for taking several minutes to prepare. This may even be done during combat, though it may not be applied to a combat maneuver. Raw Strength checks are primarily things like bursting out of bindings and bursting doors -- sudden bursts of strength. A single use of Feat of Strength can also increase the amount a Giantborn can lift or drag by 4x, but only for one round."
<OOC> Fiore says, "Cuz you're not the only one that forgets."

Behind the rest, Halena folds her arms across her chest, watching the oh-so-mighty halflong loudmouth come up short against the door. Instead, she crouches down and examines the bottom of the door to determine whether somethin on the other side blocks it -- maybe something that can be poked through.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Ohhhh... sorry. It's DC23, I presume you can make that then."
<OOC> Fiore nods. strength is 17.
<OOC> Iadoth thumbs up. Pose it!
<OOC> Fiore makes it rather......amusing though. Just roll with this visual.

FRICTION: Smashing down a door is loud. d12 friction die reduces to d10!

<OOC> Bitr says, "Poor Halena. Stuck with a door smashing giantborn and a .. well, halfling who thinks she's giantborn."

Looking down, Fiore looks to Halena and Bitr. "Back away from the door. If we're going to get in here, we're going in rather loudly." She rotates her shoulders, making one pop. then, in traditional monk fashion......she cries out 'BAKAUSAI TENKETSU!'. And jabs her fingers onto the door.....

And the door explodes.

"Weak door."

<OOC> Halena XD
<OOC> Fiore says, "anyone that knows that reference....I love you. <3"

CRASH! BANG! The door splinters into a thousand... splinters. The noise resounds around the stone tunnels, surprising even the occupants of the room. That was /loud/.

Behind the door is a short corridor, leading to a dead end. Conveniently, there's a passage immediately to the left.

<OOC> Halena is sorry, but this is the part where I go rescue my car.
<OOC> Halena says, "Hopefully this will only take an hour."
Halena has disconnected.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Okay. We're a cleric down."
<OOC> Fiore says, "She did warn."
<OOC> Bitr nods. Does that mean our light's gone as well?
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Nah."

"We should've knocked first I guess." Fiore says before she walks on in, waving to the occupants. "Is there anything down this corridor?" She asks the occupants.

<OOC> Bitr says, "I think we're the occupants."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "You are. Sorry."

Bitr covers her face with her arm, before smiling a feral smile at her 'sister' in stone. And laughing with delight. THIS is how it was done! And out pours - nothing. A bitter frown, before she asides in Jotun. Because it's a heck of a lot easier to speak her native language than small folk tradespeak.

"Mind the god botherer, Sister. I'll see what's ahead."

And forward she creeps! Towards the left, listening.

GAME: Bitr rolls stealth: (20)+10: 30
GAME: Bitr rolls perception: (13)+7: 20
<OOC> Fiore says, "oh well."
<OOC> Bitr is now - Dark Wing Lucht
<OOC> Fiore says, "Batlucht"
<OOC> Bitr says, "But of course my natural 20 goes to a stealth roll. Bah. :D"
<OOC> Iadoth thinks stealth might be quite moot after the door exploded.
<OOC> Fiore says, "not really."
<OOC> Fiore is much larger. and Bitr might not be noticed since Fiore is 8 feet tall.
<OOC> Bitr says, "True! But we don't know what's around the corner. Maybe I'll spot someone setting us an ambush"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Or I'll stumble into a horrible trap and get mangled."

Fiore smiles to Bitr, but doesn't say anything since she's favoring stealth.....

GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d10: (5): 5

The corridor winds around for a few steps, then comes to another junction. Ahead, the corridor turns to the right --- or you could go right, right here, right now.

<OOC> Fiore says, "wouldn't it be something if we encountered NO encouters? XD"
<OOC> Iadoth wonders if Lyrana is still about.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "There are definitely encounters about!"
<OOC> Bitr says, "She disconnected, I think."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Okay."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Yes, that seems to be the case."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Another junction then --- first right or second?"
<OOC> Fiore lets Bitr lead.
<OOC> Fiore is the door buster
<OOC> Iadoth laughs, she is.

Once she verifies there's nothing immediatly in the corridor, Bitr signals for Fiore to follow. The Lucht then gets down low; Darn near crawling as she gets her ears up down the immediate right corridor to listen. After a moment of silence, she'll creep a bit past it, to listen down the furthest corridor. With no way to discern a difference, it's up to hearing something interesting! Otherwise, right it is.

GAME: Bitr rolls perception: (3)+7: 10
<OOC> Bitr says, "My ears have gone deaf! :O"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Anyways. Immediate right it is, unless I hear something interesting in the corridor ahead."

The lucht siuil can't hear anything over the thump of her heartbeat. Adventuring is exhilirating, after all. Instead, the pair (trio?) head down the near corridor. It leads, after about 200 halfling paces, to a complete dead end. No door, no markings, nothing.

GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d10: (10): 10
<OOC> Bitr says, "200 halfling paces; 20 Fiore paces?"
<OOC> Bitr ;)
<OOC> Iadoth figures about 4:1
<OOC> Bitr was teasing, but right!
<OOC> Iadoth goes to get cake.
GAME: Fiore rolls perception: (9)+12: 21
<OOC> Fiore can be quiet.

Bitr pauses when she sees the dead end, then hits her small but hard fist against the wall next to her. "Blood and bloody ashes!" She cusses in Jotun. "A wasted step." She then moves forward, tiny halfling hands feeling along the walls towards the dead end. Surely there's -some- glory she can reap from this piss poor decision of hers?!

GAME: Bitr rolls perception: (9)+7: 16
<OOC> Bitr is checking for hidden doors! Doors are my enemy!
<OOC> Bitr says, "Hey, Fiore. What's a ranger's favorite ice cream?"

The halfling's favoured enemy --- doors --- don't seem to be present in the wall.

<OOC> Iadoth now really wants to know.
<OOC> Bitr says, "Why, the Ranger's flavoured enemy, of course~"

Bitr grumbles, and gives the wall a kick out of spite before glancing up at Fiore. "Your turn to lead us to glory, Sister." She grumps.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Go for it, Fiore!"
<OOC> Fiore says, "I'm supposed to bust open a wall?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Nope! Lead us back and down the corridor!"
<OOC> Bitr says, ".. Unless you really want to bust open a wall, I guess?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Well, you could have a go. But they're quite strong, are walls."
<OOC> Fiore says, "nah."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "It's only DC35."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Anyway."

Smiling at Bitr, Fiore waves for the halfling to follow her, and she heads back down the corridor. "Come on, Bitr." She gets to the end of the corridor and looks around to see if there's anything else, before letting Bitr lead again.

<OOC> Fiore says, "and, actually Bitr? the rate is 2:1."
<OOC> Fiore says, "your movement is 20, unencumbered. Mine is 40."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Actually, mine's 30"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Barbarian quick-step. :3"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Everyone's fast!"
<OOC> Fiore says, "hee"

The corridor winds around a bit more, then comes to another junction, but you can kinda /sense/ that the passage off to the left must be a short one. Whether that's because it's got a door or a dead end at the end is up to investigation. At any rate, the passage continues ahead.

Glancing up at her sister giantborn, the small lucht nods and flashes that toothy grin again. Redemption! She's been given a chance to take the lead! Of course, if she knew she was playing meatshield for someone twice her size and then some she'd... be absolutely delighted, because WHAT FUN, RIGHT?! Exhiliration, if she knew the phrase. So she gets down low again, keeping her hand on the wall as she rounds the corner to scout ahead. And then she pauses at yet -another- fork. Reporting back with what she's found, the lucht moves to the LEFT corridor now - because straight ahead is too easy!

The corridor turns back on itself, almost immediately, and yields another featureless dead end. Damn.

GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d10: (9): 9

To say a barbarian has anger management issues is like saying the ocean is moist. Bitr bites down on her tongue, fists curling in on themselves before she huffs and spins back about. "Next time for certain!" she nearly growls, before frowning up at Fiore. "What is the point of all the winding? What an annoying way to build a tunnel." Not that she's ever built any, but still!

Moving on along the only reasonable path, the adventurers find themselves at yet another door, this one made of iron. Just as stuck as the first, if not more so. Stuck firm in the rock!

"it's okay, Bitr. We haven't found anything yet. but, I'll tell you what. if something attacks us? take your anger out on them. K?" Fiore's a bit too cheerful about this. She wanders back, and lets Bitr take the lead again. Why? Bitr's likely to be ignored when someone attacks, when an 8 foot giantborn comes around. but then they get to the iron door. "well then."

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Now what?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Can either of you do in excess of 10 damage in a /single/ attack?"

"The mountain will tremble beneath my heel! It'll rue the day it bought the ire of a Giantborn!"

Snarls Bitr, before running a calloused hand through her chopped up hair. And then she's in the lead again! A place where the glory and gory can shower itself on her. Eventually they find their way to the iron door. And there?

Well, Bitr pushes her ear up against it to listen, before feeling along the edges. Surely this isn't the end!

GAME: Bitr rolls perception: (16)+7: 23
<OOC> Bitr says, "Check for anything that can be pushed, prodded, or otherwise pulled loose of course! And then start.. I dunno, banging my head on it until I get a better idea."
<OOC> Bitr says, ".. Just teasing about the last bit."

The lucht lass can't hear anything, nor see anything particularly unusual about the iron door. It's... an iron door, and it ain't going anywhere.

<OOC> Bitr says, "No handles and so forth, I assume?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "There's a handle, yes. But tugging it won't do any good. The door is wedged shut."
<OOC> Fiore says, "How wedged?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Probably beyond our means to yank it open with brute force."
<OOC> Bitr says, "We'll have to use our intelligence. .. Dang."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Oho, brute force is an option, but in the non-traditional sense."
<OOC> Fiore says, "Unlock the door and push?"
<OOC> Fiore says, "Instead of making an iron door sound like a chinese guy."
<OOC> Fiore is horrible, yes.
<OOC> Bitr grins. Swing your idea, Fiore!
<OOC> Iadoth says, "As I said, can either of you do more than 10 damage per attack?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Yes! :D"
<OOC> Fiore shakes head. "I'd have to roll high. 1d8+3
<OOC> Fiore says, "Er 1d8+4"
<OOC> Bitr will let Fiore pose first, though.
<OOC> Fiore says, "my idea was simply, turning the knob or handle and pushing the door."
<OOC> Bitr nods!
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Go for it, if you want!"

Pushing on the door a couple of times, Fiore looks to Bitr and shrugs. "I think the door would hurt my finger. Let's try something else." She says as she moves the handle and tries to push open the door.

The handle moves freely --- better, in fact, than many of the handles in the newly minted Adventurer's Guild --- but even a hearty tug on the door doesn't manage to move it from its position in the hewn rock. Drat. No, the thing is well and truly stuck. Still, perhaps a few hearty hammer blows might help.

<OOC> Bitr says, "Hm. Any tools laying about at the end of the tunnel, or is it swept clean?"
<OOC> Fiore says, "can I just pull the door open then?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "No, it's jammed."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Do you have a crowbar?"
<OOC> Bitr does not! If there's no tools laying about, I may have to end up trying to hammer through with.. uh.. my greatsword or something.
<OOC> Iadoth thinks that's your best plan at this point. The door has hardness 10, and 60 hp.
<OOC> Bitr nods. And juuust to make sure, damage is 1d10 + 1.5 Str mod?
<OOC> Bitr says, "Unless I'm raging, of course. :3"
<OOC> Iadoth 'Tis.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "I assume maximum damage against inanimate objects."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "So just give me the maximum that you can do, so I can work out how long it takes."
<OOC> Bitr nods. Max is 13 a strike, without raging.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "And Fiore can do 12, so that's 5 per round. That takes 12 rounds, then, or two minutes. It's hella noisy..."
<OOC> Fiore says, "less."
<OOC> Fiore can flurry to do 24 per round.
<OOC> Bitr poses ~

"I cannot believe this! Held fast by a -door-."

Growls Bitr as she stares at the iron portal - which thus far has refused to yield to her burning gaze. Blood vessels stand up on her tiny forehead, but she's still -mostly- in control of herself. After a moment, she yanks the great sword off her back - and charges at the stupid thing.

"I! HATE! DOORS!" She howls in jotun. WHAM! WHAM! WHAM! The great sword is far too big for her - or was, until someone snapped it in half. So she could actually carry it.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Oh right! Of course. That's 7 per round, so 9 rounds, or just less than a minute! Just one friction roll then."

FRICTION: Breaking another door? Noisy-o! That moves your friction die down from d10 to d8!

GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d8: (7): 7
<OOC> Bitr says, "Lock picking? I've got your lock pick right HERE."

A minute later, and the dented door yields, falling into shreds to reveal... another room, 45ft. by 15ft, with you at the eastern, narrow end. The room's empty, but someone has scribbled a map of the dungeon on the eastern wall, next to the ruined door. And... is that /scratching/ you can hear at the southern wall?

GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d8: (5): 5
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Gods, are you guys ever gonna roll a 1?"
<OOC> Fiore says, "What'd I say earlier?"

Oh, there is another door in the room. Thankfully this one's only wooden.

using her own form of 'knocking', Fiore helps bitr beat the door down......and looks around the room. She rubs her knuckles but looks around the room. "hey Bitr? Can you check the map out?"

Bitr stamps a calloused foot down on the rent body of her enemy, holding the oversized weapon steady, tiny arms thickly corded with muscle. And panting. It's not quite a berserker rage -yet-, but damn it came close. "Rrrhrmph." She grumbles, before she moves into the room proper. Eyes going -up- first, before she hears the scratching. And glances aside to Fiore..

Before grinning. But she's been asked, nodding her head to go look at the eastern wall. And the map.

You paged Bitr with 'MAP: From this room, you can head south along a corridor which splits into two at the end. The right-hand path leads to a large room, whilst taking two lefts in quick succession leads you to a smaller room.'

Halena has connected.
<OOC> Halena says, "Hello!"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Hey Halena!"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Just in time."
<OOC> Halena says, "Sorry about that"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "The bold adventurers have had fun busting down doors."
<OOC> Halena is now $1100 poorer but has a safe car.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "OUCH"

A minute later, and the dented door yields, falling into shreds to reveal... another room, 45ft. by 15ft, with you at the eastern, narrow end. The room's empty, but someone has scribbled a map of the dungeon on the eastern wall, next to the ruined door. And... is that /scratching/ you can hear at the southern wall?

Oh, there is another door in the room. Thankfully this one's only wooden.

<OOC> Bitr says, "We used our Not Brains! :D"
<OOC> Halena uses her Not Surprise to display a reaction. :)

Someone --- or something --- has left a long log in this room, the kind that might be turned into a portable ram suitable for three or four people.

By the light of the cleric's mace, Bitr runs a calloused hand over the map. And tilts her head, trying to understand it. Luckily it's pictures - she can do pictures. At last she reports back to Fiore, the Sister Giantborn. Switching to her archaic tradespeak for the benefit of those not foturante enough to be Giantborn.

"Keen to the souther lies a split path, aye? To the left a room fair and small; To the right a room big and grand." A flash of teeth. "Mine bones do not like things what live in small rooms. Says I, we'll find a glory there first?"

And then her eyes naturally turn towards the southern wall, and she licks her lip.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Yeah you're crazy."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "That is the best room in the donjon though."
<OOC> Bitr says, "I'm not crazy. :( I'm adopted!"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "What's the next step."
<OOC> Bitr says, ".. Which is kinda crazy."
<OOC> Bitr will let the other two decide, or take decisive, bone headed action.

Halena, who has been largely hanging back and letting the more ... shall we say energetic ... folk handle the ramming down of doors, is standing near the door by which they entered, simply watching with arms crossed her her breastplate. "Now that half of Ea knows where we are, we may as well."

<OOC> Iadoth says, "'Tis true."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Decisive, bone-headed action may be what's required."

"Didn't have much of a choice, Sunguard. Was either break down the doors or head home." Fiore says softly before looking to Bitr. "K. And which way did we came from?" She says looking at the map.

"Pfah. What be we, mice to creep in the dark? Ne'er! The blood of Giants runs through mine heart!"

States the small Bitr boldly, clapping a fist to her chest. "Let the meek rumble and run! For mine path will sing a song of glory and tooth and blood, and naught but drive the loathsome back to the darkness! Mine father's father's bones may dance merrily to the tune!"

The pint-sized barbarian then looks up to her 'sister', and thumbs back towards Halena. "Mine thoughts say the rent door marks our wayward path."

You paged Fiore with 'MAP: You came from the east, after winding round from the eastern door of that first room.'

The wooden door stands there, invitingly complete and free of dents and scratches, but resistant to the normal opening tactics. Without locks, too, so it looks as though that portable ram might come in useful.

"Ah well....Lets take a look at that door there, Bitr." Fiore says pointing to the door.

"We really ought to ...." At this, Halena heaves a great sigh. "Well, if you must." She finally enters the room more fully, eyes on the log in the room. "If there isn't a way to simply open it, maybe we ought to use that before you break your fists."

The barbarian short stack squints at Halena for a moment, then looks towards the wooden door; As if the thought of NOT using the battering ram had never occured to her. Frowning in thought, she slides the oversized greatsword over her shoulder and seats it amongst the goat leather holster, before walking over to - well - put her ear to the door. And then try the handle.

GAME: Bitr rolls perception: (16)+7: 23

The halfling can't hear anything in the corridor beyond, and, what's more, that handle doesn't seem to result in the opening of the door. So, battering ram it is.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "The battering ram gives you a +2 on a Strength check to bust open the door, and lets you add Aid Another actions from others. So, whoever is leading the ram makes their strength check at +2, and the others make theirs without bonuses (but only having to overcome DC10 to add +2 to the leader). Got that?"
GAME: Halena rolls strength: (2)+2: 4
<OOC> Halena says, "HAHAHANO"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Got it!"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Halena, that was terrible."
<OOC> Bitr says, "So Halena takes the lead? ;)"
GAME: Bitr rolls strength: (6)+2: 8
<OOC> Halena says, "Hells no"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Wow, that was miserable."
<OOC> Iadoth thinks Fiore better take the lead, and not fail.
<OOC> Bitr says, "We hit the door. We bounce off. ".. Not a weak door.""
<OOC> Iadoth says, "This is actually the weakest door you've come across so far."
<OOC> Bitr says, "That's why it's hillarious."
<OOC> Halena says, "It's stronger than me/"
<OOC> Fiore says, "so....rather than use the ram, I can just yank it off the hinges?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "The ram gives you a +2 on your Str check, so I'd go with that."
<OOC> Fiore says, "Okay....so using the ram."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "I mean, you still need to roll 16+..."
<OOC> Fiore says, "Now it becomes a....25, instead of 23."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Apparently I'm just hanging onto the end while Helana tries to push the ram, and Fiore's the competent one?"
GAME: Fiore rolls strength: (17)+3: 20
<OOC> Fiore says, "or I can roll that."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Oh, smash."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Pose it!"
<OOC> Fiore hears the demon bunny from 'Hell yeah' anytime Bitr speaks.

FRICTION: Another smashed door leads more things in your direction. Or does it? At any rate, your friction die comes down another step from d8 to d6!

<OOC> Bitr says, "That's why I like getting into scenes. I'd expected to play a much more stoic barbarian. But I like this direction."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Yuply."

Fiore picks up the ram and with Halena's and Bitr's help as a counterweight, Fiore smashes down the door with the ram. "OKay, Bitr. Go on ahead and see if you can find anything.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Off you go, Bitr. You know where to go."

MORE SMASHING!

Gleefully given the task of scouting once more, the halfling nimbly leaps through the busted door. And then remembers herself; She's a giantborn, after all. That comes with a certain understanding. She wipes the smile off her face, and gets down low as she moves ahead.. Aiming, as it just so happened, for the left. Before she can signal the others to follow.

GAME: Bitr rolls perception: (10)+7: 17
GAME: Bitr rolls stealth: (14)+10: 24
GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d6: (3): 3
<OOC> Bitr says, "I suspect anyone in the tunnels is horribly confused. SMASH.. silence.. SMASH .. silence. Like an evil koolaid man getting closer and closer."
<OOC> Fiore says, "OH YEAH!"
GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d20+10: (18)+10: 28
<OOC> Bitr says, "I found some friends?~"

You don't hear anything, and you get the impression that nothing hears /you/. You are a tiny little thing, after all. After a few paces you come to the target: a simple wooden door, with an iron handle, and no locks.

GAME: Iadoth rolls 6d10+12: (33)+12: 45

Bitr'll put her ear to the door - the typical thing - before finally using her brain a bit. That is, signaling the others to follow. Nothing here but a horribly ominious door! Bitr's current favoured enemy.

GAME: Bitr rolls perception: (17)+7: 24

Oh, right. There is something shuffling around in there. Definitely.

Fiore walks her way in and tugs on her vambraces. "Find something?"

Bitr nods her head, that toothy smile on her face as she slowly pulls the oversizeed weapon from her back again. Murmuring. "Aye, a scritch and scratchy lot in yonder doorway, Missy Stone."

<OOC> Halena returns to the keyboard!
<OOC> Bitr says, "Yay!"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "There's something behind the door, Hal!"
<OOC> Bitr says, "So far we've defeated every door we've come across. I don't know about what lies beyond it, though."
<OOC> Bitr says, "I'll hang the door remains on my wall, next to the hide of the gazebo."

After an abject failure with a battering ram, Halena, still shaking her head, trails behind the other two. At the others' reaction, though, adn the scratching on the other side of the door, she pauses and pulls up short, eyeing the door a little nervously. After a beat or two, she takes a deep breath and reaches for the holy symbol on her chest, bowling her head in prayer. "Sun Lord, look kindly on and defend those who fight in Your name." As she does so, a warm, golden glow washes out over the group.

GAME: Halena casts Bless. Caster Level: 4 DC: 14
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Opening the door?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "If everyone's done posing - YES"
<OOC> Fiore says, "Heh. might as well."

As Bitr turns the handle and opens the door outwards, it reveals ... something you never thought you'd see. With the body of a powerfully built man and the head of a snarling bull, this creature stomps its hooves as if preparing to charge!

GAME: You roll initiative for Minotaur: Roll: 16 + Bonus: 0 = Total: 16

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Also, because it's important, this is a five foot corridor, so what order are you in?"
<OOC> Halena is in the back.
<OOC> Bitr wants first! :D
<OOC> Iadoth guesses that puts Fiore in the middle.
GAME: Iadoth advances the initiative order.

It is now Fiore's turn! Minotaur is next!
<OOC> Bitr says, "Or maybe Fiore is first! .. By the by, is there any space BEHIND the minotaur?"
<OOC> Fiore says, "doesn't matter...I'm stopping this thing before it charges."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "As far as you can see, the minotaur takes up most of the room. It's a 15ft by 15ft room, and the minotaur is Large."
<OOC> Fiore says, "reach, huh? What is it with you and REACH monsters?"
<OOC> Bitr says, "Oooh! Okay, so it's not like we're all jamme dd into one long five foot wide corridor"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "I didn't throw any reachers at you yesterday."
<OOC> Bitr thought it was like a train track with the minotaur at one end and us at the other.
<OOC> Fiore says, "Well...I'm going after the Minotaur."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "No, Bitr, that's exactly what it's like."
<OOC> Fiore says, "and I'm using acrobatics if it has reach."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "You're in the corridor, at the door. Fiore is behind him, with Halena ahead of you. In the room, the minotaur is at the back of the room, with one square between you and him."
<OOC> Bitr nods.
<OOC> Fiore will brb. RL calls for the moment.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Okay, but it's your initiative."
<OOC> Halena says, "Suggestion: if Fiore needs to idle and you should sleep soon, +timestop/save and we'll return to it later/"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "I'll wait a bit, I don't think it'll take you too long to take this thing down."
<OOC> Bitr says, "I'll be around tomorrow."

<OOC> Iadoth was thinking of something else.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Okay!"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "The minotaur has 33 hp left."

Seeing the Minotaur there, and it digging it's foot in, Fiore reacts by charging the Minotaur itself. Even when it takes a swipe at her, she ducks and lands a hard right hand to the Minotaur's nose.

<OOC> Iadoth nods.
<OOC> Bitr nods. RAGE ON! :3
<OOC> Bitr says, "Want me to pose before or after rolls?"
<OOC> Iadoth says, ""Would only be a five-foot step, actually."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Howsoever you like. I normally do two poses, one before and one after the roll. Lots of people do one roll, then the pose."
<OOC> Bitr nods.

THERE it is! The stink of bull man! And it's huge! So huge..

So much bigger than Bitr. And that pisses her right off! First the doors, then the iron door, and then the THIRD door where she hung from the ram like a decoration, and now THIS. Veins crawl across her temples, eyes crack red, and she -howls- like a banshee as she rushes to the side, broken greatsword raised high. Berserker love.

<OOC> Bitr squints. Let's seee if I can do this roll right.

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Not quite, but I'll handwave it."
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Remind me what that does, Fiore."
<OOC> Fiore says, "Flurry adds another attack at your highest BAB."

Halena's heard of bull-headed men -- knows a few -- but this takes the cake. And bluntly, she's rather glad she's out of its reach at the moment. She makes sure to stay well that way, instead calling on Daeus again with a murmured, "Grant your mighty strength to this one," she calls, leaning to touch the feisty halfling with an outstretched finger.

<OOC> Fiore says, "using a Ki point adds another attack at your highest BAB."
<OOC> Fiore says, "so, three attacks."

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Ettercap."
<OOC> Bitr says, "Ettercap?"
<OOC> Iadoth nods.
<OOC> Halena says, "Might be in +abil, Fiore."

Ducking under the axe was the best idea in Fiore's mind. Coming back up, she jumps JUST high enough for a knee to the beast's face, then once she lands, she does a left hook, and spins into a back fist that hits with an aubile *CRACK* to the creature's face. She jumps back as the minotaur falls over in a heap. "whew. the last thing I saw that dug it's feet like that was a bull.....and after that, it charged...so I cut it off." She pops her neck. <OOC> Fiore says, "+abil?"

<OOC> Halena says, "+abil tracks KI points"

The minotaur is unconscious, and dying. It seems to have amassed limited treasure, but enough to reward you for your efforts. Maybe all of those doors got stuck when the minotaur closed them behind himself? Anyway, the real puzzle is what the damn thing has been eating. And what made the map, and wrote on the wall in the first room? Come to think of it, surely a few miners could have taken out this thing?

Oh well --- the real reward, one would suppose, is the experience of the thing.

<OOC> Fiore says, " GAME: pool not found. Vaild options are:"
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Okay, that'll do, I need to go to bed! Do you want to pose out?"

The beast has fallen - but Bitr is still fired up! The halfling whacking away at the unconscious creature as it bleeds out from .. well, Fiore's horrible beat down. Splish, splash. At last, breathing hard, the halfling starts to calm down. Giving Halena a bright, troublingly toothy grin. Where did she get all those sharp teeth.

"Ha! Better than sneaking, mine thoughts say, aye?" She states, in her broken, archaic tradespeak.

GAME: Bitr ends her rage.
