After quite a bit of time was spent freeing people, getting chopped up, tracking the movements of the others and more, you find yourselves in a ciruclar chamber where more automatons are seated. There's a great thrumming sound coming from the central machinery here, yes. This definitely looks like some kind of powered system of some kind, and it's definite some role in the automatons you've fought so far amongst the tunenls.

So far, so good. Right?

It's within the center of a concentric circle.

Several of the automatons are starting to stir to life. There are ineed empty spaces where the ones faced earlier must have stood in a circle around the central, thrumming unit. Crystals line the walls, at regular interfvals, with glass tubing running to them. Some kind of colored light is pulsing from the central unit into through the tubing to the walls.

Kore is watching as the automatons come to life, her eyes widening slightly. she slowly shakes her head and then takes a deep breath, sighing heavily. "Of course they are," the mok murmurs, Rather than flee she calmly starts to walk. A hand drops to a pouch full pof shuriken as if for reassurance. She starts to murmur a prayer to herself.

Lucy draws her rapier and moves a half-step away from the closest member of the party, readying herself for a fight. Then suddenly she halts. "Wait, maybe we can try talking to them. Reasoning with them." She looks at the others and then blurts, "What could it hurt?!"

Detatching itself from its mooring, cables snapping, the automaton moves towards Kore and tkaes a slice at her with a spinning drill of some kind for a hand.

Another moves towards Lucy, taking a swipe at her, only to be parried effortlesly by the swashbuckler.

Lucy edges away from the Automaton that swings at her. Then when she's close enough, she suddenly turns and lunges at the one that Kore's fighting. In her months of adventuring she's learned that dueling enemies one on one is a luxury, and it's better for everyone to team up on enemies like these.

Besra keeps her distance, raising her long gun and taking aim at the target between Kore and Lucy. She scores a precise hit, but it doesn't seem to do much damage, if at all.

Two of the automatons attack, of course, a spinning drill, whining away, nearly whiffs through Kore's hair.

The other, using some sort of hammer that extended from its wrists, swings at Lucy's skull, only to miss as well.

Unfortunately, one blade slices into Lucy's back. Knife-fingers are a athing for them, apparently.

"MINE!" Comes the roar of Baz, having been lost, but now he has found combat! His large armored form pounding across the ground as he raises his giant curved blade. "Mine! Mine! MINE!" He slashes the blade down in a vicious arc bisecting the Automaton's torso cleanly. Send it's head and left arm in one direction and it's remaining body in the other. "HAHAHAHA!" He roars in mirthful glee.

Lucy flinches as she's sliced in the neck. She slaps a hand over the cut but luckily its not too deep. She tried to decide which automaton to focus on. The one the party's been concentrating their attacks on? Or one of the two that seem modt intererested in her? Then suddenly Baz makes the decision easy, by dismembering the former. Lucy turns to the others and stabs one through the right side of its chest.

Lucy is now in flank. Hammerboy, what with drill-boy being down, turns and swings at Lucy, trying to flank her with the knife-handed one. Baz and Kore are ignored for the mnoment. Seems they have their target.

Besra stands there reloading uselessly! One day, she'll fire again!

Kore is beating an automaton to death. Slowly. Barrages of pnches and meaningful kicks are slowly wearing the machine down. Perhaps if she used a weapon it might die faster.

Lucy steps into the automaton's path and stabs it again. By this time she's made a tiny triangle of three puncture wounds across it's chest. "Is it just me, or is it getting harder to finish these things off?" And then Kore finishes it off. "...nevermind," Lucy adds. She sidesteps furiously as the last enemy swings at her, just avoiding the blow and leaving herself positioned for a counter-attack.

"Raaar!" Elucidates Baz. Reversing his grip and low planking the blade he drives it upwards into the next automaton's side where it's kidney would be. Sliding the blade in and then out deeply the Ork snarls and growls, getting ready for his next strike.

Besra finally takes another shot. It pings off the automaton's superstructure, seemingly harmlessly. The construct raises its hand for another strike a moment later, only to slowly grind to a halt as internal gears finally seize up, the attack left incomplete. A moment later, it starts to tilt backward, ever so slowly, until it noisily hits the ground, a loud clang echoing throughout the chamber. Something about the straw and the camel's back.

"WAAAGH" Baz grabs the automaton he bisected and, with a straining of mighty arms, rips the head free. Then rams it down on one of the hooked spikes on his armor with the previous trophy he collected. Now decorated with two robo-skulls he peers around and pauses to use the slight spike at the top of his curved blade to scratch his jaw. "Well, dat was just about fun. Wot next?"

And it's dopwn.

The good news is that there doeesn't apppear to be any further automatons coming out of anywhere to attack you.

Yet.

Lucy looks about for a bit, panting heavily. Then she sits down on one of the fallen constructs, using it as a makeshift seat. "I really hope...that was the last of them."

Don'tcha just love ancient dungeons and such? Tirry does, sometimes, not right now though... She missed the combat, a large-ish brick fell from the ceiling while she was examining what looked like a bok and conked the large Sith'Makar on the noggin... Eyes finally open and the goofy lizard starts to get to her feet, while holding her head with both clawed hands.... "I'm starting to dislike dungeon delving." She mutters....

"Bleaah." Baz says turning and walking towards Lucy. He extends his right hand and mururs a prayer under his breath. A glow at his finger tips and the flow of warm healing magic follows. "What evah we were do'in here, should get done. So we can leaves, job of finding people is done right? So whatever you wanted wit dis garbage." Baz then jerks his finger towards the odd machinery. "Needs ta get finished, ya?"

Lucy pops back to her feet at the healing. She's immediately examining the mechanisms. Or re-examing perhaps - she already tried inspecting the room once and it didn't go so well. "Really? You think this can be fixed...?"

Well. The machinery is still here, thrummiong away.

Someone should probably do something about that, given that it seems tied to the automatons somehow.

Tirr looks at said Machinery all bleary-eyed... She then umms "Anyone here qualified to work on Artifice?" She asks curiously, staring at the machine "Hopefully before it managed to..." She glances around at the damaged golem thingies andblinks again "Attack us again with more machines?"

Lucy studies the contraption. Studies it for a long time. The moments stretch into minutes. Finally she pries open a panel with the point of her small pick, revealing wiring underneath. Which she quickly undoes.

Tirry watches Besra and Lucy work. The Sith-Makar now forgetting fear and well trying to understand what it is they're doing.. Finally she asks "Whatcha doooing?" She asks curiously, kind of childish with that english accent of hers and all, but well she's doing her best to understand!

Besra watches from behind as Lucy works. "Hold on," she interrupts. "I don't believe that bypass will be stable. All of that energy will have nowhere to . . . " A moment later, there's an audible whine within the system, as energy begins to build up, the machinery beginning to rattle. " . . . go." It sounds like this thing really wants to explode. Besra starts to trace the path of the build-up with her eyes. And seemingly failing. "Mechanical abomination . . . Is there an artificer among us?"

Apparently not. Some people work with artifice directly. And some people are trained to . . . make do. Her face hardens, and she spins the rifle around in her hands, slamming the weapon's stock into some of the delicate glass tubing. Sparks fly as magic escapes, but there's no explosion, the machinery quieting down a moment later. "Close enough."

The big Ork has actually seemed to have fallen asleep. Propped against a wall, his armored form expands and contracts with his breathing. A line of drool running along his right tusk, his huge curved sword held losely in his left hand. "Shhraawroooo kill ..rrrr... Kor... Shrrnnaaarrgghhh... skull." He murmurs in his standing/leaning nap.

Lucy lets out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding. "Nice job!" she smiles brightly at Besra. Then she puts away her pick. "I'll try to remember that next time. Energy needs a place to go." And you can just break a hole to make one, she completes the thought in her head.
