Just west of the Northern Highbridge and east of the arena, commerce blooms. Noisy and bustling, most anything may be purchased here for a price. Vendors from all cultures sell their wares from exotically colored carts, and the smells of different nations and far-off city-states mix with local ones from Alexandria and its riverbanks.

For all its commerce, visitors are advised to keep hold of their purses. Even the merchants possess a certain, cunning look. Most are positioned at carts or stalls as opposed to a formal storefront, with trade here being mobile, and visiting from all parts of the world.

Though the quality of goods suffers here compared to Upper Alexandria, the options are more diverse. Too, the oversight of the Watch is slightly less, and during times events are held at the Arena, chaos abounds. After dark, the square becomes a hangout for bards and other entrepreneurs whose business is best conducted by night; the shadows at the edges of the square often contain furtive figures engaging in their own brand of business.

A lively step and a whistle is what Vuk has today as he carries his rifle over one shoulder, his wolf following, mostly because Vuk is carrying market goods, such as some slabs of salted pork and various root vegetables. Seems he's on a mission today, and from the merchant he just left discourse with, it would seem he exchanged several large hares for the salted pork! "You'll get some later when I roast it!" He says to the wolf, like it talked to him.

Selia lounges on a stone bench near the edge of the marketplace, watching the passersby and enjoying the sunshine. The halfer isn't often much for bright light, but given the recent wintery weather, a bit of sun is welcome. A carnivore larger than herself, however, is distinctly less welcome, and has the little lady sitting upright and eyeing the wolf with wary caution.

Vuk doesn't seem afraid of the wolf and if it's being glowered at, it'll dart in along his side, like it -knows- it's about to be yelled at..or maybe it assumes the glowering is at Vuk and it knows -he's- about to be yelled at. Vuk assumes it's trying to be a pest and pushes at it's side. "No! I said no salt pork yet!" He says to it.

Selia is just really paranoid. Few too many close calls with things trying to eat her. "Shouldn't never. Dat sorta salt ain't good for nobody." The lucht's caution practically drips with a Low Charn accent.

Vuk blinks and looks at his wolf, then towards the voice. "Oh! Hello! I don't ever eat it until I've soaked it for two days in cold spring water, and another in buttermilk! Though it is damningly good at keeping fresh!" He says and decides to stop lively towards Selia, his wolf following, presumably because she'll have a scrap of bacon for it.

Selia blinks, eyeing Vuk a moment. Which is a bit of a statement given how firmly she's elsewise been watching the wolf. "...you what? Ain't never heard of making pork like that."

Vuk will let his pack rest off his shoulder so he can adjust his monocole, utterly convinced his wolf will never try to steal it. "Purges the off flavours and salt, lets it become tender as young piglet again! Wonderful way to do, tad bit on the time consuming side of things, but I always like to start off on a grand adventurer on a full stomache, especially if the meal is good!" Overly cheerful Gobber.

Selia nods, and slowly slides back and up, from sitting on the bench proper to perched up sitting upon the 'back' of the bench. Which is typically how she uses them, as puts her at eye level for most conversations. This time, it's more about getting a head start on a wolf, just in case. "Tend ta reckon iffen ya gots a full belly, ya ain't got reason ta adventure. Yer already set."

Vuk almost looks..pained when she says that, literally, there's like a few moments where he looks ready to faint! "Oh my! Dear Lass, a madness must be taking over your very mind! Adventures are the very life blood of my people! Us Gobbers crave it! with out it we might fall into ruin!"

Selia ponders a few moments, glancing towards GobberTown. "...welp. Guess dat may explain a bit. For meself, reckon had 'nuff adventure that ain't got need to seek more. Iffen comes my way, so be it. But ain't gonna seek none out."

Vuk shakes his head ruefully at the halfing, how can she think such things? "Do you not wish to learn more about the world? To see far away lands and cities? Taste new food? Surely you must wish to enjoy new and exciting foods?"

Selia ponders several moments. "...nnnope. Plenty of good foods already tasted. Seen far away places. Most of 'em tried ta kill me."

Vuk sighs a bit, do people not trust luck to survive? "My Dear Halfling, then you simply needed to learn one of the most sacred and ancient of Gobber traditions, we call it tactically withdrawing behind those of greater stature and allowing them to kill for us." He means cowardice.

Selia ponders a few moments, unclasps her cloak, and hitches down her shirt and jacket. If the gobber is still thinking in terms of flirting, this likely sends the wrong message. The message ment to send is the exposure of the Slave Mark upon her shoulder. "Ain't always someplace ta run. And them bigger ain't always on yer side."

Vuk's eyes narrow a bit, no, it didn't help, but he didn't like slavers! "By the gods! If the scoundrels behind that still draw breath I'll have at the blackguards!" He exclaims! You know, he'd almost make a good threat, if he wasn't carrying grocerries around in a haversack. "Where are these men? I'll give them a taste of steel I will!"

Selia shrugs back into her outfit, not particularly modest, but it's still cold out. "Charn. Abyssa. Da Pits, ta be specific. Most of 'em is dead. Meybe all, ain't sure. Whole place ain't nice. Sorta why left." The Mark, for those who know how to read such things, marks Selia as a highly trained Dancer, a repete troublemaker, and to have bought her own contract.

Vuk just knows slavery is a terrible crime, it might be best if he knows not of Selia dancing after elves and various gypsies told him to find a dancer. "Well they had better be, and if I ever see them walking about in unlife, I'll ram the bayonet tip right through their skulls for you I will dear Halfling friend!"

Selia chuckles a moment, hesitates, shakes her head and smiles. Technically 'halfling' is an insult to a Lucht Siuil, but Selia knows it isn't ment as such. "I's appericate the thought, but reckon can handel it meself. Ain't anxious fer new adventures, but don't mean I ain't good at 'em."

Vuk honestly doesn't -know- any better, I mean lets be honest, he's effectively a farm boy, who didn't manage to get him self killed yet. "Well, if that is how you feel, I can not change your mind! But Adventures are grand! You become a being of renown, and fame and fortune are wonderful goals I dare say! Not to mention a spot of hunting and fisticuffs at times!" Vuk hasn't -really- figured out what to do with any thing he's garnered except spend it, because merchants tell him that is percisely what adventurers do!

Selia ehs. "Blokes know me well 'nuff. No reason fer them I don't know to know me. Fer the rest, pubs got good sport, and still friendly in da mornin." A good bar room brawl can sate even the bloodlust of the Sandy... for a night or so.

Vuk would not believe that notion for a moment, since he ever seems to be under her wiltering gaze..or thrown into pocket dimensions on her whimsy. "Well! I suppose, you may have discovered some secret that not all adventurers have! Perhaps in time, I shall retire from adventuring with my great fortunes! A jolly good plan it would be when I grow old." He says and taps his chin.

Selia nods. "Adventureing's nice 'n all. But ain't worth much iffen yer da loot da next group finds."

Vuk makes a dismissive motion with his free hand. "I am far to cunning to be laid low by some trap! Blessed I am! Able to run past them! Never seen one come close to injuring me!" Man sized traps, don't even tend to come close to chopping the heads off short Gobbers when intended to cut the heads off humans after all.

Selia snorts and frowns. "Aye, is da one ya don't see ya gotta worry about. Ya might find a hundred, but only takes one ya miss."

Vuk can not be made to believe adventuring isn't grand, nor his spirits flogged by Selia! Impossible! "Well Miss, if you wish to tell me how my Adventuring shall be the death of me, perhaps it would be wise if we went indoors and enjoyed a spot of brandy and tea?"

Selia grins, and hesitates a few moments before shaking her head. "Appericate da offer, but I best find a spot ta doss down fer a bit, git me some sleep. Iffen ya want, try da Blushing Bugbear 'round sunset. Dey got's a good stage. Drinks is mostly water, but reckon can't 'ave everythin."

Vuk will give a friendly wave when she says that, see how he has no idea where she's talking about? Adventure to find it! Also, not blow up any lakes in Zippo esque fishing. "Very well! Be careful Miss!"

Selia hehs, and hops down off the bench, moving up the street with a casual stroll. "Is Selia. Selia ShadowKin." A moment later, a patch of darkness scurries out from under the bench, joining with the darkness at Lucht's feet. Shadow Kin indeed.
