  • Title: St. Punchin's Day
  • Emitter: Jay
  • Characters: Andelena, Carver, Lauriel, Zofija, Jay
  • Place: A05: Ox-Strength Tavern
  • Time: Saturday, March 19, 2022, 4:33 PM
  • Summary: It's another day at the Ox-Strength Tavern, and less than savory dealings are taking place. Two of the Oxley family, Finneous and Madge Oxley are fighting over what is going to be the next course of criminal activity to earn coin, with neither side agreeing on what to do. Zofija is working at the bar, and several other adventurers are at the establishment, Lauriel and Andelena, when Integrity walks in, immediatley drawing attention, and ire of the establishment when they inadvertently pick a fight, and reveal to everyone they are a lawyer. This earns them a tray to the head, with knocks the unfortunate Egalrin out just before Carver enters, and a brawl breaks out in the establishment. Groups supporting the two Oxley members trade blows, as well as many of the patrons looking for a fight, or simply caught up in the situation. Andelena and Lauriel trade blows with the family members, while Carver butts heads with one of the daughters, the two fighting and eventually being dragged over to the bar counter, where they make amends and share drinks. Finneous is victorious, though the other Adventurers manage to knock out many with their blows, and their plan is decided on the next course of action, while Andelena and Lauriel retreat from the bar, the cleric taking Integrity to be healed. Zofi is frustrated by the job she had taken, but it seems this was just the nature of the tavern, where people went to look for a fight.

The worst sailors, mercenaries, thugs and dock-workers frequent this place, making it one of the most dangerous bars in the city. Its wooden floors and sturdy furniture are scarred from brawls, and the plaster on the walls is broken away in places from the brick underneath. Tucked against the large, steel diamond-paned windows are a few narrow booths providing a view of the street and all its traffic while letting smoky sunlight stream in and preventing patrons being thrown out through them. Little lamps hang from the ceiling beams to provide light when the sun goes down.

At the back is a long bar of pitted, much-polished oak sitting beneath a bay of cupboards. Its here that the owner of the bar can usually be found operating the taps and fiddling with the large copper samovar on one end against the wall when she isn't out serving drinks and basically running the whole bar. There's even a few potted violets behind the bar in the open case where bottles are stored. There's a sign in chalk listing the house specialities, along with whatever will be being served for dinner that night.

The food and drink here is good, despite the clientele's rough and frankly undesirable nature and the smell of pipe tobacco and beer that never seems to come out of the wood; the most popular thing being the curries redolent with spices and the hard ciders, both of which she makes herself in the kitchen. Part of the bar itself, it should be noted, bears the marks of electric damage, with spidery black burn marks radiating out from a charred spot right near the inner edge, where the 'tender stool is located.

Over against one wall is a pot-bellied wood stove, with two much-abused leather chairs facing it. Near to that is a locked door that appears to lead to the owner's apartment above the Ox, while a pair of swinging doors at the end of the bar leads to the kitchen.

It's a grey day. Everything is veiled in mist. The cool, damp air sneaks in through the folds of clothing, with the light drizzle scoring critical hits on the back of the neck. Still and bleak, it's the sort of day that sends people inside.

Inside the Ox-Strength there is a family meeting of sorts. Madge Oxley, a ripe woman of fifty years, is bossing her many, many, many brothers, nephews and cousins around. Some family squabble is in full swing.

Opposing her today is Finneous Oxley, a tall young man that is handsome and striking. In the punching someone sense. His personality is his biggest detractor, and he's been known to pop right out of his shirt at the slightest provocation.

He's been provoked, and his ripped and hair chest shines like a beacon of masculinity out of his ripped and hoary shirt. The Oxleys aren't known for their hygiene. They are known as the worst people anywhere, certainly the Worst in Alexandria.

Surrounding the squabble are the regular patrons, seated at tables and staring at their drained mugs. They're not exactly ignoring the domestic dispute. More... they're waiting for the right moment and wondering if another round would be possible, or if it's time to get down to rounds.

Lauriel had come in to escape from the rain after a visit to the Adventurer's guild. A few drops never hurt anyone but too long in the cold and even an elf begins to complain. That and wooden armor tests to soak in some of the wet. Not much, but enough to make heavy armor even heavier.

She was here for the starting rumbles of the argument and finds it fascinating that human culture permits such family affairs to happen in public. It's like watching or listening to a airship tip towards the earth on it's way for a crash. Hard to pull away from.

She sips from her ale and tries not to stare at it all.

Well, a job was a job for the most part, Zofija always said. It was fascinating the breadth of postings people had at the adventurer's guild sometimes, more like a general job board at some points. This day found the Arvek-nar with her clothes swapped for a blouse, pants, and heavy apron as she leaned against the bar, wondering if she was supposed to get involved or not in this altercation as part of her job helping tend to the bar. She elects to play it safe, and instead ducks in close to take some of the untended ale mugs, bringing them back to work on washing them as she kept an eye on things.

Then a Sunguard walks into the the Tavern.

It's pretty evident she's a Sunguard by the white cloak with the symbol of Daeus emblazoned on it, as well as the longsword and shield strapped to her back. The tall human woman takes off her helmet, made shiny and slick by the sky's tears, and shakes out her long copper-blonde mane of wavy hair, although some moisture clings to the ends of it that were exposed underneath the helmet and weighs it down.

Her steel-grey eyes fixate on the two Oxleys for a moment before she simply takes a seat at a table. "Th'fuck's going on here?" she asks quietly of anyone nearby who might be able to fill her in.

The Oxleys are having an interesting discussion. It seems to centre around the best use of their resources. Interpreting the euphemisms suggests that Madge wants her teenage relatives to concentrate on pick-pocketing people in the theater district, while Finneous would prefer to have their assistance with heists and looting warehouses and ships down at the docks. The 'debate' is all conducted in a rapidly spoken, heavily accented hackney dialect with a lot of profanity and rhyming slang.

Not so much a Thieves Cant as a Thieves can and will.

Flapping in through the door is a bright white, black and blue jay in an oddly styled leather suit. He has a briefcase, a saunter, and a loud voice with which he cheerfully caws a greeting to the whole bar. "Hello! Hello! The adventurers guild said this was a great place to learn to be tough!"

Heads turn.

"Anyone got some lessons?" Them's fighting words.

"I'm a lawyer." Oh dear.

Then a dirty urchin walks into the bar. It's pretty evident she's a dirty urchin with that runny mascara and blush of road dirt and mud that streaks her face like a madman's warpaint. Carver's bow is wrapped in loose leathers to keep it clean. The rest of her looks like it needs a delousing - a step above a dip in fast running river water.

"They 'bout to make Angoran proud, 's what is." The girl gives her crooked smile. "Look't the chest rug on that fella."

"First lesson," a gravely voice calls out, "Duck duck ya goose."

A tray sails across the bar. It was tossed by a very large jotun squeezed into a small suit. The Oxley's paralegal isn't interested in competition.

"I'm not a..." is as far as Integrity gets, before the discus like delivery of the serving tray takes him down for the count.

It's serious but not fatal. Weapons aren't being drawn. This is an old fashioned brawl.

The Sunguard leaps into action. "Okay, okay, knock that right the /fuck/ off!" Andelena bellows, hopping up from her seat at the table to act as a shield between herself and the fallen lawyer. "He ain't a warrior!"

GAME: Carver rolls ranged-4: (14)+6+-4: 16
GAME: Carver rolls 1d3: (3)+2: 5 (non lethal)

Carver is thankful the tray wasn't for her. Shame about the nice fellow. She moves over the brave fallen legal aide, muttering a quick apology as she does not help him up but instead grabs the tray laying nearby. She then turns and tosses it end over end like some food-encrusted tomahawk right back at the offending party. Clonk! She then mimics ox horns, but with certain fingers that most would conclude to be rude.

<OOC> Zofija says, "I guess I'll move to 12,6 and attempt to grapple T"
GAME: Zofija rolls cmb: (17)+5: 22 (success!)

It seemed that standing by and watching was reaching the inevitable limit as one of the patrons chucked a serving tray at someone. The arvek-nar sighs and stands up, stepping around to the person and question. Zofija reaches and grabs them by the shirt, twisting one of their arms in the process. "Alright, I was fine with you talking about shit in public you were going to do like idiots, but I've gotta keep the peace when you're knocking people out here. You've got less than a minute to get your ass out of here, or you're going to wish you were knocked out as quickly as that Egalrin there." She growls.

<OOC> Lauriel stuff on ye eld helm and upend table to use like a shield. Not that I'm proficient with them mind you.
<OOC> Jay says, "you have a table shield. Slightly better than a door shield, worse than a wall shield"

Lauriel's attention goes to the door as folks enter just as things were getting bad. And..then Jay speaks into the violent atmosphere the magic words that cause things to enflame. The lawyer goes down with tray to beak and the artificer's eyes go wide. "Integrity!" Her helm is jammed on her head, making her look like a small treent. She then flips the table on it's side, ale spilling to the floor and uses it as a shield/baracade against all approaching violence. "Well.. This is.. interesting."

GAME: Jay rolls 1d20+4: (5)+4: 9 (attack on Andelena! - misses)

"You shouldn't have come here Sunguard!" An oruch nearest to the door and Andelena shouts, standing and flinging a beer stein at her as he moves into punch. The glass shatters on the wall just behind her as the throw goes wild.

The other oruch sharing the table looks around, sees someone to the south, flings a chair at him and moves in.

GAME: Jay rolls 1d20+5: (18)+5: 23 ('T' attempts to get out of the grapple - breaks the hold)

"Who the hell are?" The Jotun caught the tray with his face growls, flushing red as Zofija grabs him. He wrestles and shrugs, breaking her hold on him.

GAME: Jay rolls 1d2: (1): 1 (1 Andelena, 2 Zofija)
GAME: Jay rolls 1d20+5: (3)+5: 8

The Oxley nearest to Trayface laughs, "She's our baby bartender! Welcome her to the family." Grabbing his empty mug he grins at the elf with her table shield. He lobs it, and it shatters on the wide, scarred surface. "wakey wakey."

"Looks like we'll settle this the usual way!" Finneous calls, stepping up and punching a cousin.

"Show'em what's! Bake 'is bread!" Madge calls, her progeny jumping over the bar and flinging punches.

The rest of the patrons are squaring off with each other, or Oxleys. Except for one, who scoops tips off nearby tables and hops off the patio and heads down the alley.

<OOC> Andelena says, "Alright. Andie's gonna clock the guy in front of her."
<OOC> Andelena says, "I don't think I can put power attack on an unarmed strike."
<OOC> Jay says, "eeh, if you've got it, why not"
GAME: Andelena rolls weapon0-2: (6)+5+-2: 9

Andelena growls as a stein's headed her way and misses her head by a long shot. "Alright. If that's how we're playing, that's how we're playing. Get the /fuck/ off me and maybe you'll go home without a black eye!" she roars as she takes a swing at the person in front of her. But perhaps she's a little too distracted by her concern for Jay, as the strike goes wide.

GAME: Carver rolls sense motive: (17)+3: 20
<OOC> Carver says, "Oh! That makes sense. I'd like to bullrush her instead."
<OOC> Jay says, "charge is +2 to hit, -2 to AC"
GAME: Carver rolls melee+2: (3)+4+2: 9

"Bake our bread?" Carver cackles, "I'm about to rummage the lotta ya pigeons." She's got her dukes up, and since that one guy trying to hit Andelena is closest, she begins to circle... until she spots the lass 'bout to make a run at her. A quick series of mental math later, and she bounds forward to attempt to throw both herself and the tough over the bar only to run into a brick wall. "Uhhhhh."

GAME: Zofija rolls 1d20+5: (3)+5: 8

"Look, when I took the job, I thought you all wouldn't be a bunch of idiots." Zofija grunts. "Now if you aren't going to stop beating up patrons here, then I'll have to do something about it."

The hobgoblin swings, and swings wide unfortunately, missing the Oxley who is able to duck out of the way.

<OOC> Lauriel says, "Swift action to charge armor. +4 to str. Then slam ox next to T with -4 to go nonleathal?"
GAME: Lauriel rolls melee-2: (20)+3+-2: 21 (THREAT)
GAME: Lauriel rolls melee-2: (17)+3+-2: 18 (Confirmed)
GAME: Lauriel rolls 2d8+8: (12)+8: 20

The elf in the tree armor is told to wake up and behind her visor she grins grittily. Muscle twitching next to her eye. She calls on her link to the armor about her and sap flows through gears hidden wihtin. Wood swells and crackles. "I'm awake." She states and throws her forearm in a backhand that stikes the mug tosser along the jaw and almost launches him over the bar before sliding down bonelessly. "You. Are not."

Small fights are taking place around the bar as the brawlers circle each other and throw down. Madge leans up against the large mirrored window behind the bar, watching with satisfaction as her relatives work out their issues.

GAME: Jay rolls 1d20+4: (6)+4: 10 (attack on Andelena! - misses)

"Stand still lady!" The Oruch attempting to punch Andelena shouts. She doesn't. He misses.

GAME: Jay rolls 1d20+6: (5)+6: 11 (Jotun on Zofija)

Trayface flings a haymaker at Zofija.

No hay is made.

GAME: Jay rolls 1d20+5: (1)+5: 6 (EPIC FAIL) (Bullrush on Carver)
<OOC> Jay says, "Free attack Carver! Make a roll"
GAME: Carver rolls melee: (8)+4: 12

The woman facing carver squares her feet, ready to scrap her along the wall. Except she slips on the loose tray. Stumbling, she grabs at the ranger and they do a little dance, changing places.

GAME: Jay rolls 1d20+5: (12)+5: 17 (attack on Lauriel - hit)
GAME: Jay rolls 1d6+2: (6)+2: 8
GAME: You damaged Lauriel for 6 points of nonlethal. 6 total.
GAME: Jay rolls 1d100: (63): 63 (Above 55% - Oxley goes down)

"Oi! Chop some wood!" Finneous shouts, elbowing a brother as he ducks an uncle's fist. Bruh moves around some tables, slinging a punch at the elf in wooden armour. Amazingly it connects. Solidly.

GAME: Andelena rolls weapon0-1: (10)+5+-1: 14

Andelena's still focused on making sure nobody gets to the fallen lawyer, still swinging at the oruch in front of her. She misses, but she doesn't seem undeterred. She's fighting to make sure the lawyer doesn't get destroyed rather than to prove her worth.

<OOC> Carver says, "Id like to try and headbutt the lass im awkwardly square dancing wirh"
GAME: Carver rolls melee: (20)+4: 24 (THREAT)
GAME: Carver rolls melee: (16)+4: 20
<OOC> Jay says, "confirmed, double damage. Headbutt, say, same as fist, Nonlethal, 1d3+str"
GAME: Carver rolls 1d3+2: (2)+2: 4
GAME: Carver rolls 1d3+2: (3)+2: 5
<OOC> Jay says, "would you like to take some NL yourself to do extra damage?"
<OOC> Jay says, "okay, up to your str mod, take 2 NL for each extra NL you do"
<OOC> Carver says, "I'm happy to take the full amount, so, 4 to me, and 2 to her."
GAME: You damaged Carver for 4 points of nonlethal. 4 total.
GAME: Jay rolls 1d20+4: (17)+4: 21 (she doesn't get knocked out, but you hit solidly!)

Carver and the Ox-Girl are awkwardly dosey-doing. Both slipping and tripping, grabbing and snatching hair, trying to get the advantage. Eventually, the girl with the top knot gets a brief window. "Oi, you 'ver kiss a filly?" The answer is yes now, as a right proper snoggin of their faces crunching together follows, leaving both stumbling back and starry-eyed.

<OOC> Zofija says, "Step to the north so I'm not getting flanked and try to hit T"
GAME: Zofija rolls 1d20+5: (20)+5: 25 (THREAT)
GAME: Zofija rolls 1d20+5: (10)+5: 15 (Confirmed)
GAME: Zofija rolls 2d3+6: (3)+6: 9
GAME: Jay rolls 1d20+6: (9)+6: 15

Zofi grumbles when the punch is thrown back at her, as she graciously attempted to stop things without any bloodshed. The Arvek-nar lunges for the man's neck, and with another grunt of effort she shoves their face into the bar counter with a not insignificant amount of force.

"Gods damn it all, I'm gonna have to clean the blood off of here if I still have a job after all this." The hobgoblin sighs.

GAME: Lauriel rolls melee-2: (14)+3+-2: 15 (I has been punched. I will slam the puncher... keeping armor going)

Lauriel is turning from her downed foe when she's smacked across the helm with a truly ox-like force. Enough to ring her elven skull good. She makes an involuntary noise and then swings another backhand out towards her new attacker, missing his face as he pulls back in time. "Rude. Wait to be noted."

"Yer doin' fine hon." Madge says smugly, "end on ye' feet an bob's yer uncle."

GAME: Jay rolls 1d20+4: (7)+4: 11

Another wild punch, another woosh of air as it sails by the sunguard.

GAME: Jay rolls 1d20+5: (4)+5: 9 (attack on Carver, Ox-Girl tries a headbutt too)

Shaking her head, the Ox-girl grins widely, "I like you!" and fling her head forward. It's less of a head-butt and more of a hug, and painless.

GAME: Jay rolls 1d20+6: (6)+6: 12 (Trayface punches Zofija)

Trayface flings a fist at Zofija, overreaching and wild, missing completely.

GAME: Jay rolls 1d20+5: (11)+5: 16 (attack on Lauriel)

Ox-Bruh, bending low, grabs a stein off the floor and flings it at Lauriel's head. It sails past and smacks against the window.

GAME: Jay rolls 1d100: (45): 45 (Below 60% - Patron goes down)

Finneous spins around, sweeping the legs and decking the drinker behind him. "See ma? They's soft like marshmallows. Need'em movin' boxes so they can lift like this."

He flexes his arms in a power pose, grinning at the next one stepping up.

GAME: Andelena rolls weapon0-1: (5)+5+-1: 9

Another punch, another miss. Andelena seems almost bored of this. "Hey, guy--how about we just both admit we're both bad at this shit?" she asks. "That dude opened the door. Now he's on the floor. Everyone's gonna walk..."

A beat.

"Outta here relatively unharmed. Hopefully."

GAME: Carver rolls melee: (15)+4: 19
GAME: Carver rolls 1d3+2: (3)+2: 5
GAME: Jay rolls 1d20+3: (16)+3: 19 (vs DC 5 - success)

"Aw, thanks!" Carver says, gushing a little from both the encouraging wordplay and where she might had busted her own lip. It even sounds sincere. Just as sincere as the bloomer she puts on the woman's right eye with her right straight.

The blue jay meanwhile, is safely enjoying his concussion.

GAME: Zofija rolls 1d20+5: (8)+5: 13 (another punch to T)
GAME: Zofija rolls 1d3+3: (1)+3: 4
GAME: Jay rolls 1d20+6: (12)+6: 18 (vs DC4 - success)

"Do I look like a marshmallow? Maybe you should go back to lifting boxes, fighting's not your strong suit." Zofija snorts. "Left my gear at home is all, and I'm feeling light as a feather."

Ducking out of the way of another blow, she throws another punch at her opponent, only to feint at the last moment and knee them in the gut.

GAME: Lauriel rolls melee-2: (15)+3+-2: 16
GAME: Lauriel rolls 1d8+4: (7)+4: 11

Lauriel notes just how many of these darned Oxley's are still up and about. She's thankful that she doesn't have to even try to doge that thrown mug but she knows she needs to see her way out of this mess or she's likely to go down herself.

She keeps her magic going through the armor. The gears and cogs heating up with friction even though the sap cools and lubricates. She takes a step back only to lean forward and swing her arm like the club it is. Smacking the Oxley and making them loopy for a moment as she steps back towards the door.

GAME: Jay rolls 1d20+4: (8)+4: 12

"Gerroff me Bar ye berk." Madge says, moving up behind Carver but not actually engaging her yet.

GAME: Jay rolls 1d20+4: (9)+4: 13 (attach on Andelena's)

Near the door, the brawler swings at the sunguard and fails to connect again.

<OOC> Jay says, "Lauriel's is staggerd, so hangs around"

GAME: Jay rolls 1d20: (5): 5 (Bar patron competency)
GAME: Jay rolls 1d20: (5): 5 (Oxley competency)

Around the bar, little brawls continue with fighters circling each other. In most cases failing to land anything of consequence.

Ox-Bruh simply stands there, weaving on his feet and shaking his head as Lauriel backs away.

Meanwhile, Ox-girl presses her attack, bending Carver over the bar and off her feet. Madge takes this opportunity to squeeze a bar towel on the ranger girl, dirty beer running across her forehead.

Trayface's guts are like a wall. He's one solid jotun, though the punch makes him grunt.

Another of the Oxleys, surrounded, goes down, simply unable to stand up to attacks from all direction.

Finneous meanwhile, laughs, "ye look mor' like a mushroom."

GAME: Andelena rolls weapon0-1: (17)+5+-1: 21 (Punching the oruch again. Something's gotta give.)
GAME: Andelena rolls damage0+2: aliased to 1d3+3+2: (3)+3+2: 8
GAME: Jay rolls 1d20+1: (9)+1: 10 (vs DC8 - success)

Finally, Andelena's fist connects with the oruch. She gives him a solid blow to the stomach, punching him hard. "Fucking leave me and the poor bird alone!" she demands, and her fist does the other half of the talking for her.

GAME: Carver rolls CMB: (14)+4: 18 (Trip over the bar - Success)

"Min' your business, you wrinkly-arse goobersmooch. Can't see me an' your girl havin' a rousing bit of lo--" ACK! CRASH. GURGLE. Carver spits and cusses beneath the clenching hands of her opponent and the old bar mistress's wringing out disgusting beer residue on her face. She grips the front of her opponent's jerkin and tosses her butt over head over the bar as she spits and hacks.

GAME: Zofija rolls 1d20+5: (4)+5: 9 (Attack on Trayface)
GAME: Zofija rolls 1d3+3: (3)+3: 6
GAME: Jay rolls 1d20+6: (17)+6: 23 (vs DC 6)

Zofija continues to fight the jotun in front of her, another blow to the side of their head. "There's so many others to deal with, it'd be nice if you'd be a dear and drop already." The Arvek-nar gumbles. "Maybe you've been hit too many times in the head tonight to see who you're looking at. Least that's what I'm going with, less you want me to kick your mushroom up where the dawn never breaks." She adds with a glare to Finneas.

Descression is the better part of vallor. And Lauriel is all about leaving with her dignity intact. She backs her way towards the door, talking as she goes. "Well this was a wonderful learning experience. I'll be leaving now though. I suggest you all do the same." And with that she's out the door, stepping over poor Jay's feet.

"Ah like you girlie," Madge laughs, as Carver throws one of her daughters or neices over the bar. "Y'got ma permission ta hook up with Jezzy'eere."

"Maddie, ah ain't lookin'."

"Ye sure?"

The Ox-girl, 'Jezzy', stands and stares at Carver, "mebbe."

The matriarch snorts behind the bar.

GAME: Jay rolls 1d20+4: (14)+4: 18 (miss)

The embattled oruch kicks at Andelena this time, aiming for a thigh. All he manages is a wide-stanced stomp.

GAME: Jay rolls 1d20+6: (5)+6: 11 (miss)

Trayface grabs for Zofija, attempting to snatch the Arvek Nar's hair and wrestle her head about. Sausage like fingers close on empty air. "Stand still ye squirmy slag."

Carver, woozy on her feet, sways like a drunk boxer. Her jaw feels loose. Her back is sore from where the bar was digging in it. Beer and dirt streaks back into her hair. She looks a mess, but she wipes her face clean with a sleeve. Then gives a shaky gap-toothed smile. "Nice to meetcha, Jezzy. Roun' on me. No mebbes. S'long I can sit at the bar anyhow, ma'm." Fists are still being thrown. One of the Arveks near the raised patio lands a solid punch to the face, putting down her opponent.

GAME: Jay rolls 1d20: (7): 7 (bar patron's skill)
GAME: Jay rolls 1d20: (16): 16 (Oxley's skill)
GAME: Jay rolls 1d100: (13): 13 (under 65% - bar patron)

Finneous steps around the small group attempting to surround him, and decks another drinker. "I tell ya ma', ain't lookin' good fer yer side a' the argument."

As if supporting this, a few of the family which were going after him turn towards the 'softer' targets, squaring off in a line.

GAME: Andelena rolls weapon0-1: (13)+5+-1: 17

<OOC> Jay says, "PUNCHED! OUT!"

"Alright, motherfucker. Lights out." Andelena simply throws her fist out into the face of the oruch and the man crumples for her efforts, falling onto the floor.

The Sunguard huffs as she looks back over her shoulder. "Alright. I'm done playing whack-a-mole with you lot. Getting the poor bird out of here and leaving."

Jezzy looks at Madge, then at Carver. She rubs her fist against her mouth, smearing the blood from her split lip like lipstick. "Yeh I reckon, tha's a goo'nuf. Ya got some salt in'ya. S'good."

Madge takes two mugs from under the bar, fills them from a keg and slams them down. "Drink up befor' you throw the Alpine Pass."

"Why would I stand still? You'd ruin my hair." The arvek-nar snorts in laughter after ducking out of the way of the giantborn another time, which gave her an opening to shoulder check the man, sending him tumbling to the ground.

Trayface, the Jotun, goes down. Maybe there's a lesson to be learned here. As he falls, he crashes into another Oxley and crushes him to the floor. The cousin is left squirming under the mass of man.

Finneous, meanwhile, starts taking the fight seriously and punches out the patrons was surrounding him and Madge's last supporter. A couple of the remaining Oxleys put down their opponents, while other brawlers around the bar successfully triumph, or decide that with the taps open again, it's time for the drinking to resume.

"I'm king a' tha' bar!" Finneous cheers, because of course he does. "Squintin' the barks is th'plan!"

Andelena just rolls her eyes as the Oxleys cheer and roar, and the bar-dwellers keep at their drink. She scoops up the unconscious Integrity into her arms--not hard to do--and makes her way out the door to the Soldier's Defense to get the lawyer patched up.

She leaves him a note: "I wouldn't sue the Oxleys, either--probably a great way to get you bumped off in the middle of the night. Come find me at the Temple of Daeus if you /really/ want a sparring partner."

"Yeah, yeah, you punched out a bunch of bar patrons in a fit. Congratulations." Zofija Grunts, grunts the jotun off the other person so they didnt' die of asphyxiation. "Congratulation in cutting into the profits from the bar so expertly, and getting all the people you need for whatever scheme it is injured in the process."

"Sorry about that asshole tossing a tray at him." She apologizes to Andelena before she leaves.

"You didn't include being a bouncer as part of the job description." The Arvek-nar grumbles as she goes back to cleaning the blood and splinters from the countertop. "And if any of you try anything funny while I'm working again, you're taking a nap on the floor, got it?"

"Nob Robin, ye' know where yer workin' right?" Madge says, dipping more beer mugs into the barrel and setting them out along the bar. "Tha foods shite an' the beer's'got duggs. Them's here fa the punch'ups. The eatin' an' drinkin's ta pass the time till it's beatin' boxes an' teeth colletin'."

"There's na rowdy pouncer 'cause that's part ah tha fun an' the gold dribbs out that pockets when they's pagged out on the floor." She wipes a glass with the dirty rag, then fills it, "Place's been kilt an' rebilt a handful of fingers. Fell in tha sewers once too."

"Ye took your licks well. S'why we pulled y'a on, but tha fam's full a fighters an' if ye ain't up fer beatin' down a bruther or sista, I gotta say, s'gonna happen again, mebbe e'en later'n. Check them mountains ane plains, that hardwood floor didna start dark."

"Look, I came for work for honest coin, and there's nothing honest about looting people knocked out in your bar." Zofi grunts back, shoving some of the blood out of the way on the counter with the rag she had. "And you're gonna make someone sick with that practice of yours. Lucky I signed a contract for the night."

"Gods damn it all, it's gonna be a long night. Least I know where not to take that lass anyways." The Arvek-nar grumbles as she goes back to her work.

Oxley & Ox-Strength Lore
<OOC> Zofija says, "It didn't sound that bad in the room description"
<OOC> Jay says, "well, it's supposedly a bar where fights happen a lot run by the worst family in Alexandria. So, some of that is interpretation. I wasn't around for the destroyed and rebuilt, Mikilos can talk about that. The Wiki says the Oxleys are terrible people into all sorts of minor crime and causing problems"
<OOC> Zofija says, "I guess that makes sense, Thank you for the scene!"
<OOC> Jay says, "I've run 2 or 3 non lethal bar fights here, essentially, I think others have, but yeah, its the shared world risk. I mean, you can assume it didn't seem bad when Zofija came to work, or the other scenes you were in here were maybe more typical. Anyhow if you want to endpose that's fine, or we can leave as is."
You paged (Mikilos, Zofija) with 'What's the Lore of the Ox Strength tavern?'
To (Jay, Zofija), Mikilos pages: The Oxley are terrible people
To (Jay, Zofija), Mikilos pages: Mister Oxley was a decent tavern owner, ran a good place. Rough, shady, but good. His kinfolk are lazy, stupid, shadey, and numerous. Mister Oxley solf the Tavern to Myranda the hard working sorcerous, but on the condition the kinfolk stick around as employees... so far they have never been paid as they never actually work.

Madge translation
<OOC> Jay says, "hobgoblin, you know where you're working. The food is crap and the beer has slugs, people come here to punch other people in the face. There's no bouncer because that's more fun and we rob the passed out people to keep the place profitable. It's been destroyed 3 times. The family likes fighting even each other and the floor is stained dark with blood"
