It is often remarked that the Felwood is the subject of a curse. A curse that 
reaches so far back into the annals of time that not even the records of the 
seemingly immortal Llyranesi can produce a verifiable records of what occurred 
to unleash misery upon the people who tend the lands about the god forsaken 
wood..

..last evening a farm was hit. It was the second in as many weeks. Late in the 
evening a rancher's wife reported that the cattle became spooked and her elderly 
husband, a veteran of recent conflict, rushed from the house before his 
livelihood was lost.

In the process he lost his life. Crushed by immense force his body was found 
contorted out in the pasture when the sun rose. The fence lie broken and 
innumerable cattle were either lost or stolen.

When the call went out you four responded and, after listening to the story 
above, you were able to follow the clear path of devastation through the woods...


-=FADE IN - The Felwood=-

The trail has subsided a bit in the passing hours but Brom and Ferawyn have been 
able to keep it well enough that you're certain you are headed in the right 
direction. The trees begin to thin a bit and several rises of intermediate 
height and slope becomes the dominant terrain.

It is springtime and you are in the woods. A light canopy covers you. To the 
Southeast there is a hill and another to the west of you. Your scouts have 
paused a moment to study the trail..

*PERCEPTION OVER 15* To the southeast you hear what sounds like a loud 
conversation occurring. It is tradespeak though the words are hard to make out 
at this distance. The voices are echoing off the trees and thus heavily 
distorting the sounds you can hear.

Also, is someone crying?

Brom tries to walk as quietly as a heavy dwarf can while in the Felwood. 
Suddenly he freezes in his tracks, raising a finger to his lips to signal the 
others to be quiet. He points in one direction and starts slowly creeping that 
way.

Eligar is riding on his heavy horse Kindroth and he is decked out in his armor. 
He has his lance with him and is holding his shield in the other. He rides along 
through the forest and he's looking around. He reins in as Brom signals the 
others to be quiet and he narrows his eyes as he looks around.
Looking towards Brom and Ferawyn, Folkmar grunts. "Well.. here we are in your 
forest." He looks around then with a scowl, keeping his voice low as he speaks. 
"I'm not sure I want you to cook for me, from here, though." And he begins 
walking about slowly, looking curiously at this and that. He nervously holds his 
earthbreaker in his right hand, letting it bob up and down against his left. He 
mutters something, then, about, "I'd like to sacrifice a few of /these/ trees."
Folkmar stops his explorations as Brom signals, then moves over, switching to 
handtalk and signs 'trouble'.

<OOC> Rogun says, "Whoever is actually sneaking may roll sneak. If you are just 
moving cautiously I will take that under advisement."

Ferawyn's been in the Felwood before, not so long ago. As such, she's extremely 
wary of her surroundings. She does, however, punch Folkmar. "Keep quiet." She 
whispers to Folkmar. However, she does head crying in the distance and, rather 
than use stealth, she makes her way forward moving cautiously, drawing an arrow 
and tugging free her bow, not necessarily in that order.

Eligar narrows his eyes at Folkmar and whispers scornfully, "Hurt one of these 
trees and I shall run you through with my lance. Cursed or not, they are still 
trees and deserve our respect." He doesn't bother to sneak as he knows his armor 
will just draw attention.

Grunting at the punching, and the scolding, Folkmar moves to step away from the 
group and slink between the trees. His earthbreaker moves to be held in his left 
hand, as his right draws a throwing axe from the bandolier over his shoulders.
Brom draws his thunderbelcher, nodding quickly in the direction of his fellow 
adventurers before continuing to sneak forward.

The party turns Southeast and begins a cautious approach towards the hill in 
that direction. At the pace you are moving it takes long enough that those who 
have not heard anything may be a bit impatient with the extra care that is being 
taken.

Eventually it becomes clear to all that there are voices in the distance. At 
first the conversation is hard to make out due to the distance and the echo 
through the woods. However as you creep closer you can make out bits and pieces. 

It sounds like a man and an incredibly deep-voiced whiney boy. The latter of 
which is complaining about the heat of the day and the fact that he's tired. The 
father continually threatens him with bodily harm and, at least at one point, it 
sounds like some bodily harm might come to the boy who squalls and is then quiet 
for a bit.

**Exterior - Hillhouse**

As you approach you make out two forms near-to the hill. One is a large brutish 
creature that is approximately ten feet tall and a mass of muscle fat. Draped in 
furs it is pacing sluggishly near a makeshift cart which is loaded with the 
contents of a home.

The hill itself appears to be a house of some sort. It may have been a quaint 
home once but its door is nowhere to be seen and large tree-trunks have been 
wedged into the opening to widen it enough to accommodate the hulking thing 
pacing outside. 

A number of cattle roam nearby and are protected by a makeshift fence of wood 
and wire. Near to that is a grisly scene where it is apparent living things have 
been killed.

Then, emerging from the home, comes the boy-thing. Sixteet tall himself his 
cranium is overly large and deformed such that large boils cover his features 
and one eye is mashed close. His maw locked open from the misshapen skull and 
what appears to be a...third arm..juts upward awkwardly from his left shoulder.

He appears to be doing most of the grunt work. Hauling the contents of the house 
out into the cart.

*PERCEPTIONS* The hillside is covered with trees. When you finally take your 
eyes off the horrid boy-thing you a flash in the treeline about sixty or seventy 
feet up the hill catches your eye. It looks to be a humanoid figure hiding up 
there. Those who know of such things would recognize that its holding a spyglass 
and scanning the woods. With the size of Eligar and his steed you won't be 
hiding long.

Folkmar pages: I'll try to sneak around for a closer look at the person with the 
spyglass.

Well. This doesn't look good at all. Brom scowls, looking over to the others as 
if hoping one of them might have a bright idea. He readies his thunderbelcher, 
holding onto it tightly.
From afar, Folkmar whews! xD
You paged Folkmar with 'Go ahead and pose doing that while I type up what you 
see.'

Folkmar moves just close enough to the party to hold up his palm, suggesting a 
halt. He then points to his eyes, and towards something obscured. He then points 
to his chest, before moving his fingers like a person walking a wide circle. 
With that, he steps back into the foliage, ducking his large frame low, and all 
but vanishes from sight.

Eligar pages: do I have a clear line of attack towards hidden thing?

*FOLKMAR* You break off from the group and circle around the duo in front of the 
Hillhouse. Its a rather wide circle so while you are doing this you are 
definately risking exposure. However the figure seems not to notice you..

When you get close enough you realize its a human, or a very human looking, 
woman who is crouched in the trees above where the other two work. She is 
surveying the forest with her spyglass though seems to look down on the other 
two as well. The phrase 'Rode Hard and Put up Wet' comes to mind because she's a 
very homely looking thing in coarse spun clothes wearing an adventurer's pack.
Ferawyn isn't one for stealth, not at the moment, anyways. She looks up towards 
the one with the spyglass and purposefully stays near Eligar, looking to Brom, 
literally telling him to fan out and hide or take cover, whichever he prefers.

You paged Eligar with 'No. The two loading the cart are between you and it and 
its about 60/70 feet up a hill so 150 or so feet from you. You would have to 
circle around. You could range attack it but it has cover.'

You paged Folkmar with 'As you examine her you notice that it looks like there 
is a scroll case attached to the pack. She also has a leather belt with a dagger 
on it.'
Folkmar pages: Can I sense motive to discern her intent?

<OOC> Rogun says, "So Folkmar has snuck off and is circling around the area 
where the duo is working intent on getting a closer look at the woman."
<OOC> Folkmar wishes he had stealthy climb about now. xD
<OOC> Rogun says, "The two working are about 80 feet ahead. The thing up the 
hill is about 70 feet up the hill. If tha thelps with positioning."

Folkmar pages: Okay, I'm going to kneel down with my throwing axe, out of sight, 
and remain motionless. If she draws any weapons, or starts doing any sort of 
mojo, I'll attack.
Folkmar pages: At least, potentially. =P But I'll 'hold action' type deal.

Folkmar pages: Er, am I within 30 feet of her? If not, I'll try to sneak close

Eligar isn't made for stealth but he could be a good distraction. He looks 
towards Ferawyn, "Stay behind me." He has his horse move out as he looks around 
for who's in charge. It's obviously not the boy and he'll need to get closer 
before he can make a charge at the hidden figure. He has his lance ready as he 
spots the brand on a few of the cattle that are the farmers who was killed. 
"Theives!" He declares loudly knowing he is making himself a target. "Unhand 
those cattle that are not your's or face me in combat."

"Well, so much for the sneaky sort of hunting." Brom says with a heavy sigh. He 
adjusts his monocle, squints, and steps out into the open with his musket 
pointed menacingly in the direction of the apparent thieves. "Aye! And me too!" 
He calls out.

Chuckling a little bit, Ferawyn decides not to stay behind the horse. One, The 
back of the horse is where you can more easily spook him. Second, she's heard 
war stories of lady Primrose. So she walks around the sode of the horse, hand on 
it's flank to let it know she's there and looks around the horse for the thieves, 
that Eligar so proudly bellowed after.

"Thieves! Unhand those cattle.."

When those words echo its like a shot is fired. The lumbering pacing creature 
stops as if shot and swings his mighty jaw towards the sound of the voice. His 
wide nostrils flare and he hefts his greatclub with both hands.

"Pa.." The six-foot mutant boy says and moves slightly behind and to the side of 
his father while reaching to pick up a short-spear that was leaning against the 
cart.

"Git outta' here these're mine.." He warns, with impressive intelligence, 
stepping forward. However, Brom's appearance seems to give him pause and he 
snarls with a snaggle-toothed maw.

"Kill'um, Pa!" The boy goads leveling his shortspear at the Dwarf.

Those down below can't really see what the figure on the hill does. It remains 
where it was.

*FOLKMAR* The woman starts when adventurer's begin appearing. She scans the 
woods for a second and then lowers the spyglass while biting her lip as she 
watches the scene unfold below.

Folkmar pages: I'll try to move closer yet, then hiss/whisper, "You! What're you 
doing!? Get down from that tree!" Throwing axe still in the right hand.

"Don't be a fool, lad!" Brom shouts, leveling the rifle at him. "Throw down your 
weapons and we'll take you in alive!"

"We take you DEAD!" The Ogre retorts to Brom, "You take us and we die." He 
readies his Greatclub and starts forward.

"Get'um Pa!" The boy says encouragingly and begins forward as well, "Dwarf pie!"

The Figure drops her spyglass and hastily reaches to her belt pulling off a 
small twig thereon. She turns to start creeping down the hill but doesn't seem 
to note the concealed Folkmar.

<OOC> Eligar says, "Charge the ogre with a ride by charge"

<OOC> Rogun says, "Okay, but it was pacing in front of the wagon so you can't 
charge but about ten feet past it."
<OOC> Rogun says, "If that's cool. Roll it. :)"
<OOC> Eligar says, "Then I'll charge to it, stop within 5' and use my lance to 
hit it"
<OOC> Rogun says, "Sounds good."

GAME: Rogun rolls 1d20+9: (5)+9: 14

Eligar says no more as he gets ready and with a flick of the reins Kindroth his 
faithful steed starts to charge towards the wagon. The lance tip lowers slightly 
as Eligar leans forward into the saddle and the lance slams into the ogre 
catching him in the chest and dealing out a good amount of damage.

The boy-creature charges Brom with his raised spear, "Yaaaarrr!" He bellows his 
vestigial arm flapping oddly with each shambling step. However, while the lad 
has zeal he seems poorly trained with the weapon for when he spears at the Dwarf 
he successfully strikes only the air over top his head.

<OOC> Rogun says, "Folkmar."
Folkmar pages: Also, just in case you didn't know/weren't aware, normally 
stealth is, I think, have speed. But, since I've got barb level, my base speed 
is 40, so I stealth at 20.

Brom leaps back from the spear poked in his direction. His eyes narrow. "Don't 
say I didn't warn ye." He pulls the trigger, and a loud 'boom' echoes through 
the air as a spray of musket shot fires into the spear-wielding boy creature.
<OOC> Ferawyn says, "I'm close to Brom and the boy right?"
<OOC> Rogun says, "Yes, you are."
<OOC> Rogun says, "About 10 feet."

Continuing along behind the strange woman, Folkmar attempts to stalk behind her. 
His attention is on the woman, though, and not the large, and loud, twig that he 
steps on. He mutters an oath and waits to see what happens next.

<OOC> Ferawyn says, "yes, brom. sorry. I back up about 5' and cast Aspect of the 
eagle on myself."
<OOC> Rogun says, "Pose/Cast away."

GAME: Ferawyn casts Aspect of the Falcon.
From afar, Eligar ums. It looks like 17.

Backing away from the boy, Ferawyn touches her own chest and speaks in a strange 
language. When done, her eyes get larger and a couple of feathers pop out of her 
temples....

The lance pierces the Ogre who howls bloody-murder. Enraged by this action he 
shakes free of the blow and drops his greatclub reaching with his long arms and 
grabbing hold of Eligar, despite Endroth, and literally ripping the fellow from 
his saddle.

The begin to grapple and now that Eligar is free of his mount the Ogre 
definitely would appear to have the size advantage.

<OOC> Rogun says, "Top of the Round."

<<SNAP>>

The sound of failure.

The creeping figure spins wide-eyed and gives a startled cry at the axe-wielding 
adventurer closing on her. Hastily glancing at the fight below a worried look 
crosses her features and she stumbled forward several steps waving the wand.

It vibrates and spews forth a dazzling array of colors at Folkmar.

<OOC> Rogun says, "Will check, Folkmar."
GAME: Folkmar rolls will: (8)+-1: 7
<OOC> Folkmar snickers.

<OOC> Rogun says, "You are blind and stunned."

Folkmar is following behind the figure, until she spins on him. As her wand 
spews forth a spray of colors, he staggers, dropping his throwing axe and 
earthbreaker both, bringing his hands up to rub at his eyes as he sways on his 
feet.



<OOC> Rogun says, "Eligar. You are being grappled. You can roll a combat 
maneuver check to try and break free. Endroth may also act."
<OOC> Rogun says, "Grapple gives you a -2 to the maneuver check."
<OOC> Eligar says, "Can Kindroth help me break the grapple?"
<OOC> Rogun says, "Sure, his assistance wil give you a +2 bonus."

The Ogrekin screams as the arcane shot strikes him. Raising his spear again he 
closes the gap between he and Brom thrusting again. Yet again the boy misses, 
though not so badly this time.

<OOC> Rogun says, "Folkmar is stunned."

<OOC> Rogun says, "Brom."
<OOC> Brom switches to earthbreaker, swings at the ogrekin.
<OOC> Rogun says, "Roll."

Brom returns his musket to its holster, drawing the massive hammer slung across 
his back and whipping it right around into the ogrekin in the same fluid motion, 
striking the creature in the chest. "Drop your weapon!" He shouts.

<OOC> Ferawyn says, "that's a miss if I ever saw one."
<OOC> Rogun says, "Yes. :)"

You paged Eligar with 'You are ungrappled.'
Eligar pages: Woots.

Finally drawing the arrow, Ferawyn tries hard to aim for Brom's foe. 
Unfortunately, the only shot she can get without bromw in the way is up high, 
and the arrow barely wizzes by both Brom's and the ogrekin's head.

The Ogre wrestles with Eligar his brute strength overpowering the man's attempts 
to squirm free despite Endroth's aid. However, he makes a fatal mistake in his 
own manuvering as he raises a hammy fist to attempt to knock the man out.

Eligar struggles free.

<OOC> Rogun says, "Top of the Round."
<OOC> Folkmar says, "2 more rounds blind and stun, then 1 stunned, yes?"
<OOC> Rogun says, "Yes."

GAME: Rogun rolls 1d4+1: (3)+1: 4
GAME: Rogun damaged Brom for 4 points. 19 remaining.

The woman curses as the wand shorts out after burning its final charge. She 
drops the thing and, seeing the horror below, puts a bit of distance between she 
and Folkmar but does not go down the hill.

She waves her hands intricately and chants in an arcane tongue before pointing 
at what she considers to be the most distressing threat - the dwarf who is 
pummeling her child.

An arcane missile shrieks through the air and hits Brom from afar doing minimal 
damage but serving as a warning to the part she may play in all this.

<OOC> Eligar says, "That fails, so I'll move to mount as a move action. and then 
have the horse ride back 40 feet"

Eligar moves to try to get back in the saddle as fast as he can, but 
unfortunately he's still reeling from grappling with the ogre so he can't do 
much else. He gets on his horse and then directs the horse to ride out so he can 
get a good chance to charge.


<OOC> Rogun says, "He's unarmed and doesn't have improved unarmed. So I don't 
think he gets any."

"Yaaaaargh!" Brom yells the fiercest, angriest dwarven battle cry he can, 
raising his hammer up over his head and bringing it down over the ogrekin's 
skull with a painful-sounding crack.

Drawing another arrow, Ferawyn waits for Brom's attack to finish, and get out of 
her way. She almost chuckles at Brom's warcry, but once he bends over, she fires 
an arrow into the shoulder of the ogrekin.

The Ogre stands as Eligar rides away. 

Reaching down he takes hold of his great club and hefts it up but, seeing his 
boy go down, and having already experienced a full-on charge by the Cavalier he 
backs up and moves to the other side of the cart placing it between him and the 
adventurers, "Go!" He bellows up the hill. 

And the arrow drops the Ogrekin quite handily

Folkmar still stands, not entirely sure what's going on. He's rubbing at his 
eyes with both hands, swaying on his feet.

Up top of the hill the woman reaches looks hastily towards Folkmar, who still 
seems stunned, before finally shrieking as her boy goes down.

She draws forth a handful of petals as the Ogre retreats and begins chanting. 
One by one she lets them fall to the ground...

Eligar sees his enemy go moving off, "Coward." He turns towards the mage and he 
urges his horse into another charge. Kindroth pounds across the ground and 
Eligar sits up to lance the mage, but his aim is just slightly off and he misses 
as he goes thundering past.

<OOC> Brom says, "How far am I from the remaining baddies?"
<OOC> Rogun says, "The Ogre is behind the cart. About 40 feet away. He has cover. 
The woman is about 80 feet."
<OOC> Brom says, "I charge the ogre with my earthbreaker."
<OOC> Rogun says, "You have to have a straight line. He's behind the cart."
<OOC> Brom says, "Hrm. In that case, I'm going to reload. I can't move forty 
feet without charge."

With the ogrekin felled, Brom swiftly returns his hammer to his back and draws 
his musket, grabbing another handful of shot from one of his pouches and 
beginning the needlessly complex process of reloading the weapon. "Surrender!" 
He shouts again at the surviving ogre.

<OOC> Rogun says, "Ogre charges and misses Eligar."
Seeing brom a little banged up now, Ferawyn drags out a wand and touches it to 
Brom's head, saying a strange word. "The Ogre must've been really hurt if he's 
taking cover." She says before looking towards the 'mage'. "Surrender, like brom 
said."

<OOC> Rogun says, "Top of the Round."

Watching the horse thunder pat the murderous Ogre realizes, too late, the error 
of his strategy. With a furious snarl he stands from his position behind the 
wagon and charges after the horse even as Eligar misses with his lance.

Raising the club above his head he swings mightily at the armored warrior but 
misses both rider and mount.

The woman is paralyzed as the lance narrowly misses her - nearly ending her life, 
"Don't be a fool!" He hisses at the Ogre and throws up her hands, "Don't kill us. 
We are just trying to survive in a world that does not accept our union.."

<OOC> Eligar says, "Stab the ogre with the lance and then move back full 50 
feet."

<OOC> Folkmar says, "I can see!"
Folkmar begins blinking his eyes furiously, as though light reaches them at last. 
He wobbles on his feet still, however, and looks about him as though his 
facilities have not quite returned to him.

Eligar takes a stab with his lance to try to hit the ogre as the same time he is 
turning to ride back. The strike misses and he looks over to the woman as he 
rides back to set up for another charge if need be. "Regardless of your 
preference that does not give you the right to steal from your neighbors."

With his musket reloaded, Brom dashes to one side, circling around the ogre's 
overturned cart. "Ain't nothin' to do with your union! None of us give one whit 
about that!" Boom! The musket is fired again, filling the ogre with painful 
musket shot. "It's about the stealin'! Surrender, we'll bring you in alive. 
Maybe get your boy raised. They don't hang you just for theft 'round here."
GAME: Ferawyn casts Entangle.

<OOC> Rogun says, "Ogre is not entangled. The woman is."

"Hold on!" Ferawyn growls a bit as she lowers down and places a hand on the 
ground. Muttering a prayer to Dana, Vines and grass erupt from the ground to 
wrap around the woman's legs, but the Ogre actually jumps out of the way. 
"Stealing, especially out here, is not a good idea. You should hunt for your own 
food instead of stealing it from hard working farmers."

As Eligar moves away the Ogre hesitates to take an opportune swing at him. He 
gives the woman a gruesome frown for her weakness but holds his attack all the 
same.

<BOOM>

Arcane shot strikes him and he stumbles forward as the grasses flare to life and 
try to wrap about their legs. The Ogre blinks, reason draining from him, he 
looks to the source of the shot and the weeds but reasons them out of range. He 
looks to Eligar - and then to his lance - before glaring at his entangled wife.

Then, looking into the distance, he starts to run away as fast as his legs can 
carry him.

The woman seems approachable as Eligar appeals to her intellect.

The shot then strikes the Ogre and the dwarf cites peace even as he continues to 
fire.

The grasses grab her, "Run away! The won't hang me!" He screams after him, "I'll 
find you!" She then looks contemptuously to Brom and struggles to break free but 
is caught fast. She keeps her hands up, "You have me." She says in a forlorn way.

<OOC> Eligar says, "How far away is Ogre"
<OOC> Rogun says, "You were 50 feet away. He ran 120 feet but there's a diagnal 
line. So I'd say about 150 feet."
<OOC> Eligar says, "All right horse will run past him and try to sort of herd 
her into running back towards the woman."

<OOC> Rogun says, "Folkmar. You can act!"
<OOC> Folkmar says, "Okay, so the female is 40' away, the ogre is up the road, 
and the 'boom'...? That was from Brom?"
<OOC> Rogun says, "Yes."
<OOC> Folkmar says, "I'll pick up my weapons, then. =P"
<OOC> Rogun says, "Okay. :)"

<OOC> Rogun says, "Brom."
Folkmar snaps out of his daze, reaching down to pick up his throwing axe and 
earthbreaker. The axe he places back in the bandolier, and the earthbreaker he 
slings over his shoulder as he watches the woman warily.
<OOC> Brom reloads. Also shouts things.
<OOC> Rogun says, "Okay."
<OOC> Rogun says, "Ferawyn." 

"We weren't gonna hang either of you!" Brom shouts out while putting another 
handful of shot into his musket, ramming it down into place. "Just put your 
hands up and come along peaceful-like, and I'll stop firin'! It's not that 
hard!"

<OOC> Ferawyn is letting Brom work his magic, but holding an arrow on the woman.
<OOC> Ferawyn says, "That's all."

"Gag 'er." States Folkmar. "An' tie her hands behind her back."

<OOC> Rogun says, "Eligar. Is it fair to say you will continuously try to change 
the Ogre's flight path?"
<OOC> Rogun says, "Until he does something other than run?"

"Hmph." Ferawyn says as she looks at the woman. "We have you, ma'am." She then 
looks to Folkmar. "Good idea. and take her wand too."

<OOC> Eligar says, "Yah try to work him around into a Uie til he's running back 
towards the others."

The Ogre hoofs it through the Felwood but Kindroth is much faster over the long 
distance. Although neither can do much more than run the horse thundering past 
causes the Ogre to turn and then begin running in another direction only to have 
Endroth gallop past again.

This goes on and on for several rounds until he finds himself running back 
towards the original group. Deciding this is a poor idea he stops, about three 
hundred feet out, with Kindroth just out of clubbing range.

The Ogre looks to Eligar, and then to the others, while gasping for breath. He 
seems to be considering what to do next.

<OOC> Rogun says, "Top of the Round. The woman is compliant. Eligar."
<OOC> Eligar says, "It's Kindroth"

Eligar is able to bring the ogre more or less back, "Now listen we don't wish to 
harm you we just want the cattle back. They have the markings on the hide that 
say they belong to a farmer that was found dead. Given us the cattle that has 
his mark on it back and we'll go and you can live peacefully out here so long as 
you don't steal from your neighbors again."

<OOC> Folkmar says, "Is that within earshot?"
<OOC> Eligar is pretty loud
<OOC> Rogun says, "He's about 100 yards out. Roll perception."
<OOC> Folkmar says, "I'm wondering if you were talking on the way. Yeah."

Gored and full of arcane shot the Ogre is bloody and out of breath but seemingly 
unwilling to approach the others. Laboring for breath he stands still as Eligar 
speaks to him reaching only to clutch the area of his chest where he was earlier 
speared.

"We were leavin'.." Is the Ogre's reply, "Putting stuff in cart. Boy took cows 
at night - knew you come after them this time.." He sighs, "..told him to stay 
close at night. He not listen real good."

"Take cows.." The Ogre says in a deep voice and then gives a wheezed sigh, "We 
leave. Felwood has bad magic. Not safe for us."

<OOC> Folkmar says, "The three armed son wasn't a clue?"
Eligar nods, "I am sorry about your son." He rides back and he looks over to 
Ferawyn, "Can you do anything to help revive their son?" He asks as they got 
what they came here for the cattle.

<OOC> Eligar says, "You have an ogre's baby and see how many limbs your baby 
has."

Ferawyn makes a bit of a face. "I'm not that strong with the Bringer of Fruits 
yet, Eligar." She sighs a bit. "Perhaps, if we bring him to a temple of Vardama, 
they can bring him back." She then looks to the Ogre and his wife. "We'll go 
with out out of Felwood. With both of you bleeding, we may run into more 
trouble." She then shrugs.

<OOC> Rogun says, "Technically he's just bleeding."
<OOC> Rogun says, "Err, dying."
<OOC> Rogun says, "But not dead."

<OOC> Ferawyn says, "Well, I guess I could head over and look."

<OOC> Ferawyn takes back her last pose and checks the boy.

Eligar nods, "I understand, but he could still be alive, could you please at 
least check."

<OOC> Rogun says, "He is stable."

"You know it's just the cow-taking that's the trouble, right?" Brom says with a 
heavy frown. "By the Hunter, these lads come from a crazy city where they have 
humans beddin' down with elves and all other sort o' nonsense. Nobody's going to 
give a whit about that. But cow thievery, that's somethin' they care about."

<OOC> Ferawyn says, "And I'll cure him with my wand."
<OOC> Rogun says, "Sure. Use it and roll."
GAME: Ferawyn used a Wand of Cure Light Wounds.

Although Eligar rides away, the Ogre approaches for a bit and then stops giving 
the group a distrustful look. However he does not turn and run merely stands 
there as the Cavaliar rides forth and inquires as to the state of his boy.

The woman looks at the druid as she attends the mutant-boy and stabilizing him, 
"Just leave us.." She says callously, "We'll carry him out of this cursed wood 
on the cart.." She then looks to the Ogre who still lingers out in the wood and 
back to the group as Ferawyn pulls out her wand.

"The damn giant bugs killed our food." She spits there, "Do you have any idea 
how much meat it takes to feed these two? On short notice? Neither one can hunt 
a lick."

As the wand is waved over the boy the most damaging of his wounds mend a bit. 
The boy gives a gurgling gasp from his misshapen mouth and acts as if he could 
come around at any time.

"You'd better hold him down!" She cries at the Ogre there, "When he comes two 
they're libel to have to kill him again!"

Folkmar shakes his head. "You know, I'm not usually one to be the voice of 
reason, here... but... isn't there a dead farmer, too? Shouldn't they at least 
stand trial? I mean.." He looks around, like 'duh'.. "There could be a bounty on 
'em!" he glares at the woman, then, narrowing his eyes. "An you?" He rubs one 
corner of his eye, but leaves it at that, shaking his head.

"Who beds who or what isn't what we were paid to look at, dwarf." the Aesir adds. 
"I came for the pay, not to be their moral compass."
Ferawyn takes a deep breath and steps back. "FOLKMAR! TIE THIS ONE UP! he's 
alive but barely." She then puts her wand away and looks to the woman. "This 
should be a lesson for your child, and you both." She says matter of factly. "If 
you don't teach him better, He may disappear." That last part sounds more like a 
promise from the druid.

"Like a newly married man's small clothes." The Aesir adds to Ferawyn's 
statement, then looks around with a shrug. "I don't have any rope. And I have no 
idea how to tie a three armed boy, either." He tilts his head. "Though, I could 
maybe figure it out." He /is/ a sailor. Knots are easy.

"Damn straight." Brom agrees with Folkmar, nodding his head. "The whole beddin' 
business isn't our concern in the slightest. We'll take you back, get you 
patched up, you can make restitution for the thievin', and that'll be that. 
Tough fellow like yourself shouldn't have any trouble finding honest work."
Eligar pauses, "What giant bugs? Do you know where they came from or where they 
were going?" He asks curiously as he holds his lance ready. He looks towards 
Folmar, "We came here to get the cattle back and that is what we are doing. They 
are leaving the area, so they won't be bothering anyone else again." He looks 
towards the woman, "I can understand your concern, but a man was trampled last 
night because of this. Perhaps you should try talking to your neighbors first 
before you steal from them."

The Ogre drops his head when fussed at and come trotting back to the edge of the 
scene. Still holding his great club he eyes the knot of adventurers and warily 
approaches them but seems intent on the groaning boy.

"They can't hunt a lick - but they like to kill things." She says when Eligar 
inquires further about the bugs. However, as people begin debating her freedom 
again she grows quiet, "Let us go.." She says, "..and I'll tell you where we 
found their nest." Then looking at the rest, "..he didn't mean ta kill the man 
but if ya take back the cattle and go have a look at the nest I reckon the 
village'd be happy enough.." She looks at Eligar, "We'll be gone."


If allowed into the knot of adventurer's the Ogre unceremoniously sits upon the 
boy who struggles but isn't quite up to lifting a quarter-ton off of him. You 
kind of get the sense this is a regular part of how he keeps the boy under 
control.

Ferawyn steeples her fingers together and thinks. "I have an idea." She says to 
the woman. "We're not going to let you go.....yet." She emphamizes 'yet'. "I do 
have an idea though, as a way to 'serve your time' for killing the man." She 
then looks to Eligar. "We leave the Felwood, and I teach your husband and your 
son, how to hunt responsibly." She then looks back to Folkmar, then to the woman. 
"Or, you can take your chances with the Alexandrian guard. Either way, you show 
us the nest."

Brom twists the end of his mustache between his fingers, pondering. "Hrm. Sounds 
like dealing with these bugs would get to the root of the matter... alright then. 
I s'pose we could come to some arrangement. You promise this is the end of the 
thievin' and give back what you took, I s'pose..." He looks in Ferawyn's 
direction, then shrugs. "Sounds like justice to me."

Folkmar just puts his hand over his face and shakes his head, then sighs. "They 
attacked us, without real provocation! I could have killed the woman, before she 
left the hill, and she blinded me! I don't think we can trust them. But, if you 
guys want to let them go, so we can go squish bugs? Well, fine then. I don't 
think these would be much challenge for us, anymore, anyway."

Ferawyn says, "also.....the thieving ends......." She points in each of their 
directions. "Or, the next time we come out here....your son stays dead, and you 
may join him.""
Folkmar turns and wags a stern finger at them, too.

The woman snorts, "He says we can go.." She looks at Eligar, "Then he wants ta 
drag us to the stockade. Now you want us ta give ya all we got..." She looks to 
Folkmar as he speaks, "..and he'll still want ta take us to tha stockade.."

"Then what do I have? Nothin' but yer word." As Ferawyn threatens to murder her 
family she grows quiet but seems quite discontent about all this.

"..can we please just go.." She finally asks.

Ferawyn says, "You cannot 'just go'. You killed someone, even by accident. You 
have a choice. The Stockades in Alexandria, or relative freedom until you learn 
the ways of the hunter and the forest.""
<OOC> Ferawyn says, "essentially, imprisonment, or probation while learning a 
trade."

"I didn't kill anyone!" The woman protests, "My son did."
Eligar backs up Ferawyn, "Look at it this way, you'll get to learn a trade that 
could help you in the future and we get the information that we want on what's 
causing this disruption in the forest. After you've learned how to take care of 
yourselves you can leave and use that skill elsewhere."

Ferawyn says, "Yes, your son did. And you just said your husband and your son 
don't know how to hunt." She then opens her hands to them. "This way, you retain 
your freedom, and learn how to hunt. All three of you.""
"It's as good a deal as you're gonna get." Brom seconds with a nod. "You don't 
want to wind up in this situation again, do you?"

"You said we could go!" The woman replies stubbornly to Eligar, "The group of 
you have as much honor as his side of the family.." She looks at the Ogre who, 
now that things are turning south again, seems to be growing increasingly 
perturbed and he shifts as if about to stand.

"No! Sit!" She barks at him, "Fine. I'll come with you. These two will stay in 
the woods so that there's not more misunderstanding about what our 'justice' 
will be. You can stay with them.." He looks at Ferawyn, "And teach them to hunt 
or the three of us can stay here with you - either way I'll share what I know 
but I'm not going to the nest with you."

Ferawyn nods quietly. "Right." She looks to Eligar. "Could you take these two 
out of the Felwood please?" She says before looking to Brom. "Come on. We need 
to find this nest and I need someone quiet. FOlkmar's as quiet as an explosion."
Eligar nods, "I did say you could go, but I didn't say when you can go and you 
can go when you are done learning what Ferawyn has to teach you. Madam you 
wouldn't want to challenge my honor." He looks to Ferawyn, "No, first rule of 
adventuring is that we don't split up."

Folkmar blinks. "I can be quiet, when I need to be. I /meant/ to startle her." 
*sagenod* "I didn't see the silly wand thingy."

<OOC> Rogun says, "Okay, we're at nearly at 4.5 hours. If members of the party 
are determined that all three return they could eventually be convinced to do 
that."

<OOC> Brom says, "Sounds good!"
<OOC> Ferawyn says, "OKie."
<OOC> Ferawyn stands by her promise to teach the ogre and their son to hunt 
though.
<OOC> Eligar says, "right you can come back and do that."
<OOC> Ferawyn says, "What about this nest, Rogun?"
<OOC> Rogun says, "...however, I don't think the village will be as easily 
swayed to let a mutant man-killer and his non-civilized ogre father simply loaf 
about town. So if you want to honor the spirit of the bargain you might let them 
stay (up to you)."
<OOC> Rogun says, "I'll have to ask staff about the global. I don't mind running 
another scene later (or, failing that, fielding some legworks) about the nest."
<OOC> Rogun says, "I just don't want to determine anything concrete at this 
moment because I don't know the gist of the global concerning it."
<OOC> Eligar says, "Sure Ferawyn can teach them how to hunt then they can show 
us the nest and leave."
<OOC> Folkmar says, "The global?"
<OOC> Brom says, "Works for me."
<OOC> Rogun says, "The giant wasp things are part of a larger plot, I believe."

<OOC> Ferawyn was part of the giant wasp plot in the nearby village.

Folkmar frowns, turning to Ferawyn. "These bugs... is that what you were 
speaking with the oruch about, at the shipyard, earlier?"

Ferawyn nods to Folkmar. "Giant wasps. Killed people and tried to drag off 
children. I stood over one child to keep him safe while trying to save an 
elderly woman."

"Wasps, eh?" Brom runs his fingers through his beard. "Sounds like a hunt worthy 
of the mighty hunters of the Explorers' Guild, eh?"

Eligar hmms, "More Wasps huh? Sounds like a trend. You know you could probably 
earn some coin, but acting as a guide to other adventurers to help get rid of 
the wasps. You are paying us with your lives, but if you guide the adventurers 
out to the wasps you probably get paid by the adventurers."
Folkmar mmms and rubs his chin thoughtfully. "Perhaps good bounty on these wasps, 
too, no?" he shrugs, then waves a hand. "Shall we return these cattle, then, and 
get our pay?"

With the matter firmly resolved the woman willingly submits to being the 
prisoner of the adventuring party in exchange for allowing the Ogre and the 
Ogerkin to remain in the wild.

Upon arriving in the village she is able to disclose information about a nest

Over the next several weeks Ferawyn is able to teach the pair how to hunt. While 
neither are eager to learn, or particularly adept students, the fact that the 
woman is held hostage seems to curb their impulses to simply ignore the druid.

In time it becomes clear that the boy is neutrally aligned and simply the result 
of cruel breeding practices. They can be trained, in time, and though the boy 
might someday lead a life that is not cruel and cannibalistic the father is 
unlikely to tarry far from his nature - once the woman is returned.

Whether or not they actively lead adventurer's to the wasps is not known but the 
idea that they might be able to reclaim some cattle - legally - is an idea the 
woman is likely to consider.

As to the wasps only time will tell what fate befalls them.
