Location:

The Festival Grounds. Along one side are a set of permanent bleachers, and at either end an archway. Each archway is carved in the style of a grand entry and marked with images of of Daeus, with rearing horse and flying pennon. Here, the god stands depicted in his roles of defender and knight-warrior. A large (60 foot wide) tent is set up on the Festival grounds. Inside the tent is a 30 foot wide wooden table, atop which a miniature circus has been erected. Well-groomed black rats dressed in colorful costumes are re-enacting circus performances (with costumed rats taking on the roles of both the performers and the circus animals). Of particular note among the performers, are Fredricko the Clown, who occasionally launches coin-sized cream pies at the noses of onlookers, and Ribald, an enormously overweight rat dressed like an elephant who with amusing clumsiness attempts to maintain his balance on a ball, in the process rolling all over the tabletop. The twin acrobatic rats, Lou and Sue, whirl overhead between miniature trapeze.

KEY NPCS:

Mr. Marty Fellman (Level 5 Enchantment-Specialized Human Wizard, NE)

His six-foot tall human has a long salt-and-pepper beard and aged travel-worn skin. An odd aroma of perfume, incense, and rat droppings surrounds him. He is wearing an ankle-length black robe bespeckled with silver sequins forming the shapes of stars and moons. If that wasn't enough of a clue, he has on a tall pointed hat with the word 'wizard' spelled out in silver embrodiery.

Gizzle Triplets (Level 3 Human Barbarians, NE)

Ranging in age between 17 and 21, the Gizzle Triplets have been on their own since for ten years, ever since their parent's farm was raided by orcs while they were odd playing in the woods. Their parents, having just as unpleasant personalities as their offspring, had been feuding with all their neighbors for years. As such, there was no one to stop by and find out about the tragedy until some six years later when the local lord finally got around to seizing the farm for unpaid taxes. Since then, the triplets have wandered, making a living through petty theft, extortion, and blatant robbery.

Druids (Mitzy, Flitzy, Mop, Cam, and Samantha) (Level 1 Elf Druids, NG)

Young apprentice druids from prominent local families who are well-known for speaking up in public against cruelty to animals in the city.

Enchanted Rats (Fredricko, Ribald, Lou and Sue) (Level 1 Animal, N)

These rats have been subjected to transformative and mind-controlling magics to make them more suitable as performers at Feldman's circus.

Rob and Hob Heavyfoot (Level 6 Human Fighter, LN)

Two rather laid back members of the City Watch. Clad in chainmail, they carry clubs, light steel shields, longswords, and light crossbows.

Taurex: The Festival Grounds.

Taurex: The interior of the tent is currently packed with a jostling crowd of onlookers. A small halfling is selling tickets outside the tent for a coin a piece.

Taurex: Standing on a wooden crate inside the tent is the owner of the circus, Marty Feldman. He is a six-foot tall human with a long salt-and-pepper beard and aged travel-worn skin.

<OOC> Taurex says, "Go ahead and pose your entrance to the scene."

Kravar tries to peek through the entrance to the tent for a few minutes before he finally gives in and buys a ticket. Once he's inside he smiles in amusement and a touch of wonder. He's never seen anything quite like this before, but then that's what living in the big city is all about isn't it? Standing there in front of the door, Krav's large frame takes up a bit too much space until someone 'convinces' him to wander over to the side of the crowd where he himself can still see but doesn't block anyone else's view, or their way.

Shrike has been here quite a while. That seems to be his thing; being around. Unfortunately, he's had to leave his hunting hounds at home, though they're hardly required for viewing a circus. Why, they ever had similar events in Charn, except the mice were horribly mutated chimearas, instead. For some reason, little furry mice seem to be a far more appealing alternative. Kravar gets a glance from the Sith'makar when he enters. Hardly fair to say that's unusual, Shrike is watching everyone come and go from the tent.

Taurex: As Kravar enters, he attracts the notice of a group of very similar looking Barbarians, the Gizzle Triplets. Each of these unusually large humans is dressed in store-bought furs decorated with the skulls of small animals, mostly squirrels. Each has a massive great sword slung across their backs. The swords are covered with engravings and bedecked with bits of colored glass, but lacks the sheen of high-quality steel.

<OOC> Taurex says, "Shrike, what is your touch AC?"

<OOC> Shrike says, "I think my touch is just AC 13"

GAME: Taurex rolls 1d20+4: (14)+4: 18

Taurex: Fredricko slips his paws under another coin-sized cream pie and hurls it out into the crowd, where it lands with a splat on the very tip of Shrike's nose. The rat bows as the crowd erupts into laughter.

Shrike's long tongue reaches up and cleans the cream off his nose with a single slurp. He doesn't seem to be bothered by the comedy, and just gives a small bow. For the moment, his attention is again redirected towards the proceeds of the circus.

<OOC> Taurex says, "No damage, of course."

Kravar's eyes follow the flying pie and then he starts slightly as it hits Shrike. His lips half-twist into a smile and he glances around the crowd as others laugh. His gaze runs across the large barbarians but doesn't seem to register that they are watching him. Krav very quickly returns his attention to Shrike, smile widening when he sees the Sith'Makar take the pie with good humor.

<OOC> Taurex says, "Let me know how far you both are standing from the table and what you are focusing your attention on at this time."

<OOC> Shrike says, "5 feet from the table, front row. Lots of people have come and gone. Shrike has stayed. Looking at the table right now."

<OOC> Taurex says, "The table is 30 feet wide, the tent is 60 feet wide. Both are circular."

<OOC> Kravar is still 15 feet from the table, at the back of the tent watching Shrike atm

Taurex: As Loue is performing a mid-air tripple summersault, a peanut comes flying out from the crowd and beams the rat on the side of the head, causing him to miss the trapeze and begin plummeting down towards the table just in front of Shrike. Of the crowd, he appears to be the only one who might have a chance of catching the rat before it hits the table. The crowd looks on curiously to see what the Sith-Makar will choose to do.

<OOC> Shrike says, "What skill would be to catch the rodent?"

<OOC> Taurex says, "A variety could be used. Acrobatics, Sleight of Hand, a simple dex roll, etc."

<OOC> Shrike says, "Eh. Why not."

GAME: Shrike rolls Sleight of Hand: (6)+9: 15

<OOC> Taurex says, "You manage to catch the rat before it hits the table. Give me a handle animal roll."

<OOC> Shrike says, "Cha instead?"

<OOC> Taurex says, "Thats fine."

GAME: Shrike rolls Charisma: (18)+3: 21

<OOC> Taurex says, "And, the rat doesn't even try to bite you after you catch it! Go ahead and pose."

<OOC> Shrike says, "Does it look delicious?"

<OOC> Taurex says, "It looks well-groomed and well-fed."

There's hardly a moment's hesitation before the Sith'Makar snaps forward to catch the rodent with a predator's precision; just inches before the rat hits the table. Despite Shrike's lean grip and successful catch, it's hardly a moment for applause. The rat is brought up to Shrike's face as he observes it, a look in his eye that's somewhat cross. A rat would be a tasty treat, indeed.

GAME: Shrike rolls Intimidate: (15)+6: 21

Kravar watches with interest. These Alexandrian shows seem to include a fair amoutn of audience participation, don't they? And then he begins pushing his way closer to the front of the crowd, where Shrike is, for a better look. He has to shoulder his way through a few and drops a hand to a satchel at his belt out of habit.

Taurex: The held rat looks into the Sith-Makar's face . . . and teeth. There is a soft squeek and suddenly Shrike's hand is wet.

<OOC> Shrike says, "What is the 'wizard' doing?"

Shrike scowls, a satisfied hiss coming from him as he tosses -- or throws -- the rat at the wizard. A point has been made, or perhaps multiple points. The sith'makar then wipes his hand on the nearest person. "That was fun. Let the show go on."

GAME: Taurex rolls 1d20+6: (5)+6: 11

Taurex: The rat attempts to land gracefully, but there is a squeel of pain when it finally hits the table top, and it limps its way over to Feldman and looks up at the now frowning wizard. Feldman begins to yell over at Shrike, "Now, was that really necessary? These are all highly trained . . . " As the crowd's attention was focused on these events, it took a moment for the crowd to notice five female elves stepping through a slit in the back of the tent, formerly held shut with a sticky resin. Four of the elves brandish quarter staves, causing the crowd to back away, and appear to be forming a living wall between the crowd and the fifth elf, who is reading aloud strange words from a scroll clutched in both her hands. Each of the elves are wearing simple hooded brown robes. The elf brandish a staff closest to the crowd proclaims, 'This vile enslavement must end! Rats should live free and wild in the streets, not perform tricks for your amusement!'

<OOC> Taurex says, "That was the druid's surprise round. You're up, Kravar."

<OOC> Taurex says, "Anyone will spellcraft can make a roll to try to figure out what type of spell the scroll contains."

<OOC> Taurex says, "If you have knowledge local, you can make a roll to identify the elves."

<OOC> Kravar says, "Sorry just one more sec please"

<OOC> Shrike will roll neither!

Kravar looks at the approaching druids, at first still grinning but slowly realizing from the reactions of others that this isn't part of the show. He watches for a bit and then slides his shield off of his shoulder, fixing it in position on his arm. His sword arm is still empty and he opens and closes the fist slowly. "Here now! I paid for a ticket and I want to see the whole show!" he calls out, moving towards the little group.

<OOC> Taurex says, "Your only action is moving to melee range, Kravar?"

<OOC> Kravar nods. Hmm I really need to find a place to buy a club or a sap or something.

Taurex: A soft blue glow surrounds all the rats for a moment, and all but Fredricko suddenly bolt off the table and into the crowd. As the scroll crumbles to dust in her hands, the elf who had been reading it proclaims, "Now they are all free from your mind magics, wizard!" Meanwhile, the elf standing right next to Kravar tries to heft her staff threatening and says in a quivering voice, "You . . . you better back off right now. . . or, um, I'll hit you with my stick and . . . that'd probably really hurt!" Meanwhile, Fellman calls out, "Anyone who captures and returns alive one of my rats to me will be greatly rewarded!" The crowd erupts into chaos as everyone sees the opportunity to earn a quick bit of gold.

GAME: Taurex rolls 1d20+2: (14)+2: 16

<OOC> Taurex says, "The elf sounds like she might actually whack you on the shins with that staff of hers, Kravar."

<OOC> Taurex says, "You're up, Shrike."

Shrike is still grinning as the wizard yells at him. He hardly seems disturbed by the rat's squeal of pain, after all, he was shortly about to eat the poor thing. When the elves enter, his grin starts to fade and he readies to interject. The clockwork under his mantle begins ticking, an exoframe under his clothing boosting up with assistance of his own magical aurae. The death ray on his leg is promptly removed and readied as he pushes forward to the elves, "Slavery is a staple of society, rodent or otherwise. Think again, knife-ears." Oooooh! Racial slogging.

<OOC> Shrike says, "+4 to Dex."

<OOC> Shrike says, "One move, one simple, one standard"

<OOC> Taurex says, "Kravar, you're up again."

Kravar frowns at the elf who spoke to him, catching bits of what Fellman called out and the reaction of the crowd behind him. "I will surely back off...but I'm still out the cost of my ticket. Now stop pointing that toy at me, girl. Before I take it away."

<OOC> Kravar says, "Can I try intimidating her?"

<OOC> Taurex says, "Go ahead."

GAME: Kravar rolls intimidate: (14)+8: 22

<OOC> Shrike says, "Kravar, you're so nice. D:"

Taurex: An elderly gnome suddenly exclaims, "I got one!" as he holds up one of the fleeing rats. As one of the Gizzle triplets knocks the gnome out with a single round house punch, another plucks the rodent from the gnome's suddenly slack grasp.

GAME: Taurex rolls 1d20+2: (11)+2: 13

Taurex: The rats scamper back and forth among the crowd. The one in the grip of the Gizzle struggles but can't free himself.

Taurex: The druids withdraw back out through the slit in the tent.

<OOC> Taurex says, "Shrike, you're up."

<OOC> Shrike says, "Follow just out the slit of the tent. Fire."

From afar, Vennan waves! Still time to join in?

You paged Vennan with 'sure'

You paged Vennan with 'roll +init when you come in.'

<OOC> Taurex says, "The druids are currently 30 feet from the tent slit. Their AC is 14. Which one are you targetting?"

<OOC> Shrike says, "The one that was shouting propaganda earlier."

Vennan has arrived.

<OOC> Taurex says, "I'll pose you in Vennan."

<OOC> Vennan says, "Super!"

<OOC> Shrike says, "Pew pew!"

<OOC> Taurex says, "And it will be your initiative. (Next round you'll go before Shrike)."

<OOC> Taurex says, "If you have knowledge local, Venna, make a roll now."

GAME: Vennan rolls knowledge/local: (5)+10: 15

"Hey! I'm not done with you!" shouts Shrike, pushing past the people and out of the tent. It's not difficult given the assistance of his mechanical armor. Stopping at the flaps, he readies a shot with his death ray. A beam of frost and energy fires from the rifle, hitting one of the elves in the back, giving them a nice 'chill' if it doesn't outright kill them. "You don't get to come in and just ruin circuses. That's /my/ job!"

Taurex: As Vennan is walking through the festival ground, he sees five young elven women fleeing, running away from a large (60 ft wide) tent. He recognizes them as young apprentice druids from prominent local families who are well-known for speaking up in public against cruelty to animals in the city. Four of them are holding staffs. One is empty handed. As he watches, a beam of frost hits one of the staff-wielding elves in the back. The elf collapses instantly. One of the other elves exclaims, "By the gods, that madman just killed Mitzy!"

<OOC> Taurex says, "Your action, Vennan."

<OOC> Vennan moves closer, draws bow. Can I see whatever it was that shot the beam of frost?

<OOC> Taurex nods, its a circular tent and they were running straight from it.

<OOC> Taurex says, "Shrike is currently standing outside a slit in the side of the tent, and thus visible."

<OOC> Vennan will just advance and draw bow, then shout some things. Holding attack until he has a better idea what's going on.

<OOC> Taurex says, "Go ahead and pose then. This is the last of the round."

And here Vennan was hoping for a chance to examine Alexandrian culture in a way that wouldn't involve violence and insanity. Once again, he is severely disappointed. He sighs heavily, drawing his bow and dashing towards the tent. "What is going on here? Stop this violence at once!" He shouts.

<OOC> Taurex says, "Kravar is up."

Kravar watches the elves disappear the way they appear to have entered, a thoughtful expression on his face. This changes to one of surprise as Shrike follows, and then a scowl that deepens as he hears the various shouting from outside of the tent. Kravar turns back towards the crows to try and catch a rat, holding up his shield by the rim and holding it ready. His intention is to spot a running rat and then bring the large shield slamming down to form a makeshift wall ahead of the little rodent.

<OOC> Taurex says, "Go ahead and give me a grapple check, Kravar."

<OOC> Taurex says, "Your CMB is listed on +sheet if you need it."

<OOC> Kravar ah cool...is it just d20 + the CMB?

<OOC> Taurex nods.

GAME: Kravar rolls d20 + 6: (4)+d20+6: 10

<OOC> Taurex says, "You now have a squirming rat in your hand. Pose grabbing it and what you end up doing with it."

Kravar blocks a rat with his shield and then scoops it up with his other hand. He straightens up with a grin. Just like back on his father's ship. "Here!" he calls at Fellman, looking around for the man.

Taurex: Kravar seems to have attracted the attention of the Gizzle triplets. Enmass, all three move up to Kravar. One of them tries to grapple Kravar, while another tries to snatch the rat from his hand. The third launches a blow at Kravar's belly.

<OOC> Taurex says, "Kravar, whats your CMD? Do you have any special feats that would improve your CBD vs grapple or disarm attacks?"

<OOC> Kravar says, "It says my CMD is 18, no special feats"

<OOC> Taurex says, "First the grapple, then the disarm, then the attack."

GAME: Taurex rolls 1d4+5: (1)+5: 6

<OOC> Shrike says, "Does Kravar shout for help after being jumped?"

Taurex: With an evil grin, one of the Gizzle Triplets grabs holds of Kravar's arms from behind as another snatches the rat from his hand, and the third launches a hard blow to his belly. With a laughing snear, the one holding onto Kravar says, "That reward belongs to us. Touch another rat, and you'll be spitting teeth for a week."

<OOC> Taurex says, "The unarmed blow does 6 damage. They have improved unarmed strike, so its lethal damage"

<OOC> Kravar will be shouting something, sure. ;)

GAME: Taurex damaged Kravar for 6 points. 12 remaining.

<OOC> Kravar says, "Crap I was down 5 hp from the previous PrP...would that still be around? (it was on Friday)"

<OOC> Taurex says, "Its up to you, Shrike."

<OOC> Shrike says, "If Kravar calls for help, Shrike will likely come back in and start shooting which may or may not be good."

Taurex: The rats scamper about. The one now being held by a Gizzle struggles futily before being dumped into a sack.

<OOC> Shrike says, "GUNS SOLVE EVERYTHING"

Taurex: The four female druids spy Vennan and run up to him. One grabs hold of his shirt and begs him, "Please save us, sir! Please!" All four cluster up behind Vennan, as if using him for cover.

<OOC> Taurex says, "Vennan, your up."

<OOC> Shrike has precise shot, your cover does nothing!

<OOC> Vennan will attempt to get some information from the druids, as he is still unclear on who started this whole mess.

Being swarmed by elven women can only be a bad thing. Vennan knows what his luck is like. This is doomed to take a turn for the worse. He manages to look rather stoic, lifting a hand to try to calm the druids. "Miss, please, I will do what I can. Please explain just what is happening here." His eyes dart left and right, trying to keep tabs on the chaos transpiring.

<OOC> Taurex says, "Give me a diplomacy roll, V."

<OOC> Taurex says, "Shrike, you're up."

<OOC> Shrike says, "Krav, do you shout anything? :?"

<OOC> Shrike says, "Can I get a pose or something if you are?"

<OOC> Taurex says, "Stick to 7 words or less per round and you're good to go."

<OOC> Taurex says, "Also, screams of pain are always okay."

"Cowards!" Kravar spits, then adds a booming, "Come back here with my rat!!"

<OOC> Shrike says, "Wow. Exactly seven words."

<OOC> Taurex says, "And, now we're back to Shrike."

<OOC> Shrike says, "I'm going to step in and shoot!"

Taurex: As the grappler is hit by the freeze ray, He growls out to his brothers, "That bastard lizard! Let's skin him!" Shrike shouts at Vennan, "Keep them there! Those keebs are in serious trouble!" After all, Vennan has a crowd of elf girls crowding him, he can probably handle them. Hit them with a sap or something. Rolling with the punches, the sith ducks back into the tent and quickly details the situation. This looks like someone's abusing the chaos! What a great time to fire some more lasers! The deathray is fired at the man grappling poor Krav, as he then shouts, "Everyone get the bloody hell out!"

<OOC> Taurex says, "Kravar, you're up."

Taurex:As the crowd starts to flee the tent, Feldman starts yells, "Guards! Guards! I'm being robbed!"

<OOC> Kravar says, "I'd like to pull out my dagger and cleave the two gizzles in front of me"

<OOC> Taurex says, "Currently, one is behind you and one is to your left and one is to your right."

<OOC> Taurex says, "They are using flanking on you."

<OOC> Kravar says, "Hmm so none of them adjacent to each other?"

<OOC> Taurex says, "Not currently."

<OOC> Kravar says, "OK how about pull out my dagger and power attack the one that's grappling me"

<OOC> Taurex says, "A dagger is a one handed weapon, so you can use it while grappled. You have a -2 to your attack roll and currently have a -4 to dex while you remain grappled."

GAME: Kravar rolls 1d4+6: (3)+6: 9

Kravar feels the triplet grappling him flich slightly, and Shrike's shout makes Krav flick a hasty look that way. The Aesir doesn't recongize the weapon in Shrike's hands, but seeing it pointed at the Gizzle behind him is enough. "Honorless Dog!" He unsheathes the dagger at his belt and then jabs it backwards, puncuating the blow with the last word.

<OOC> Shrike says, "Most people would be like "JESUS YOU ALMOST SHOT ME""

<OOC> Kravar was talking to the triplet actually, but I can see how that would be unclear.

Taurex: The grappler releases the grapple, reaches back to draw his great sword, and moves to cut Kravar down. Meanwhile, his two brothers smoothly draw their greatswords as they move to cut down Shrike. One of them spits out, "We were just having a bit of fun, but you had to bring guns and knives to a fist fight. Well, we got knives too. Big ones."

<OOC> Shrike says, "Huh? No. I meant just in general. :D"

<OOC> Taurex says, "One of them is attacking Kravar, one is attacking Shrike, the other one spent so much time talking he didn't have time to attack."

<OOC> Shrike says, "Remember I have +2 to AC from suit. :D"

<OOC> Taurex says, "I'll roll Kraven then Shrike"

<OOC> Kravar says, "Also do I get a cheap shot on one of the ones moving to get Shrike?"

<OOC> Shrike says, "Oh! Yeah. Do I get an AoO?"

<OOC> Taurex says, "Yes, Kravar, you have potential attacks of oppotunity on both. Shrike, since they are moving into, rather than through, your threatened squares, you do not get an attack of opportunity."

<OOC> Shrike says, "D'aww. :("

<OOC> Kravar will take an AoA on the non-talky one.

GAME: Taurex damaged Kravar for -5 points. 17 remaining.

<OOC> Taurex believes everyone's hp should be correct now.

<OOC> Kravar says, "Cool, thanks :)"

Taurex: As the former grappler swings wildly at Kravar, one of his brothers moves easily pass him and slices deeply into Shrike's shoulder, snearing, "You're boots!"

Taurex: The rats, forgotten in the bloodshed, flee the tent.

Shrike hisses at the blow hits him, his face turning deeply to a scowl, "You'll pay for that with your life, scum!"

Taurex: The female elves huddle around Vennan. One whispers in his ear, "Why don't you come back with us to my father's place? He has an excellent wine cellar. We can all have a drink while we discuss what really happened here . . . . I am sure he'd be ever so greatful if you ensured word of this . . . incident didn't around town"

<OOC> Taurex says, "Vennan, you're up."

<OOC> Vennan will, perhaps foolishly, attempt to persuade the druids to help round up the rats and stop the violence.

Taurex: At this, one of the other elves chimes in, "Um, Flitzy, shouldn't we take Mitzy to a healer or something? She's just lying there . . . but I'm pretty sure she's still breathing."

<OOC> Taurex says, "Go ahead and make a diplomacy roll and pose, Vennan"

"... Keebs?" Vennan repeats with a raised eyebrow and a frown of annoyance. He then looks to the elves surrounding him, eyeing them with more than a little mistrust. "That's a kind offer, miss, but you should listen to your friend. Your companion needs medical attention. Furthermore, if these... intelligent rats of yours are in danger, we should do what we can to gather them up without violence and take them someplace safe. If they escape, they will be at great risk of harm in the savagery of Alexandria. Surely further violence helps no one."

GAME: Vennan rolls diplomacy: (2)+8: 10

Taurex: There is much general nodding among the female elves, finally, Flitz announces, "Right you are, good sir. We'll go take Mitzy for healing while you heroically rescue the rats and get them to safety! We're all counting on you! And, the rats of course. They are counting on your too."

Shrike laughs maniacally as he removes a small box with a button on it. When the button is pressed, electricity begins to crackle over his clothing, and he just appears to be that much faster, just a bit harder to hit. Skipping backwards, he aims his rifle and fires again. "Come on, come and get me!"

<OOC> Taurex says, "The one fighing Kravar will take another swing. The other two move into flanking position, one to each side, of Shrike, and each takes a swing. I will roll for Kravar first."

Kravar stabs futily with his dagger as the two of the triplets head off. He turns back towards the one he stabbed earlier just in time to catch that greatsword on his shield. The impact knocks the shield momentarily out of line, but saves his head. Kravar's lips pull back in a sneer. "Just you and me now." He drops the knife, drags the longsword out of the sheath on his own back and then launches a heavy blow at the Gizzle still facing him.

Taurex: The two Grizzle flanking Shrike each swing and miss, their blades bouncing off his many magical protections.

Taurex: The druids hurry over to their fallen comrade and pick her up. One gives Vennan a cheery wave as they prepare to depart.

<OOC> Taurex says, "Vennan, you're up. Their is much screaming and sounds of battle coming from the tent. Also, someone is still screaming about being robbed."

Taurex: Fellman continues screaming for the guards, yelling that he is being robbed.

<OOC> Vennan runs towards the person yelling about being robbed. Is an obvious culprit visible?

Taurex: Upon entering the tent, you see standing on a wooden crate inside the tent is the owner of the circus, Marty Feldman. He is a six-foot tall human with a long salt-and-pepper beard and aged travel-worn skin. He is pointing at a Sith-Makar and yelling thief.

<OOC> Shrike says, "The same Sith-Makar being attacked by a trio of fellows. The third of which who is close to killing Kravar."

You whisper "Ranging in age between 17 and 21, the Gizzle 'Triplets' (actually brothers) have been on their own since for ten years, ever since their parent's farm was raided by orcs while they were odd playing in the woods. Their parents, having just as unpleasant personalities as their offspring, had been feuding with all their neighbors for years. As such, there was no one to stop by and find out about the tragedy until some six years later when the local lord finally got around to seizing the farm for unpaid taxes. Since then, the triplets have wandered, making a living through petty theft, extortion, and blatant robbery." to Vennan.

<OOC> Vennan is going to make one more attempt to calm the situation, and ready an attack with the bow against the one assaulting Kravar. If he attacks Kravar again, Vennan fires.

<OOC> Taurex says, "Currently, one of the Gizzle triplets, badly wounded, is battling an even more badly wounded Kravar. Two of the triplets are flanking Shrike. The one on Shrike's left has a nasty looking beam-injury."

<OOC> Taurex says, "Shrike is up."

<OOC> Shrike says, "Two beam injuries, Taurex. :O"

Vennan looks disappointed by the druids' lack of interest in gathering up the rats, but not terribly surprised. The yelling seizes his attention. "Excuse me, ladies." He dashes into the tent, bow held at the ready, eyes going wide at the sight inside. "Stop that at once!" He calls out, nocking an arrow and taking aim at Kravar's assailant.

<OOC> Shrike considers an action.

<OOC> Taurex says, "You hit the grappler the first time, Shrike. The grappler is the one still fighting K."

<OOC> Kravar is just gonna try for a normal attack then

Momentarily thoughtful, the Sith skips five feet away again to fire at the man attacking Kravar. With that he shouts, "Shut up, already!" This is directed at Fellman, obviously.

Kravar draws back from the return blow, feeling blood pouring down his legs and knowing it's only a matter of time before the pain. Lots of pain. Shifting his shield to better cover himself, he tries to launch a quicker attack this time and catch the Gizzle by surprise.

<OOC> Taurex says, "Venna, you're up."

<OOC> Vennan says, "Switch from bow to sword, charge the wounded triplet. Can I flank with anybody?"

Taurex: At this point Marty Fellman has stopped yelling. He climbs down off the box he was standing on, flips the lid open, and pulls out clay jug and a wooden mug, pours himself a drink, and takes a sip, idly remarking, "Thirty work, yelling for help."

<OOC> Taurex says, "not with the wounded triplet. Only the unwounded one is currently flankable."

<OOC> Shrike says, "Can I coup de grace him? :D"

Shrike shakes Vennan and Krav, "Get up you two, we've got to get out of here." There's a bone of sympathy in Shrike's body. All the same, he's moving for the back of the tent after sheathing the death ray.

Taurex: Vennan awakes to find his dagger plunged into the chest of a deadman. Marty Feldman, sipping from a wooden mug, is standing over Vennan, shaking his head sadly.

<OOC> Kravar whews...well that was fun.

Kravar sits up and looks around at the carnage. "What...what happened?"

Vennan seems fairly woozy himself, wincing and rubbing at the back of his head. "Urgh..."

Taurex: Marty helpfully explains, "A group of fanatical druids released the control spell on my enchanted rats. When I promised a reward for their recapture, things got a bit brawly, but everything was well in hand before some crazy Sith-Makar started shooting people. Then blades were drawn, and, well, this poor fellow ended up dead. Shrike shakes his head and slips out from the back of the tent. Easy come. Easy go.

<OOC> Kravar isn't up on the IC laws here in Alexandria...any ideas how our actions would be seen? I think I pulled a knife on those guys first but they were practically robbing me three on one.

<OOC> Shrike says, "Yeeep. I slip away."

Taurex: A pair of human city watchmen, Rob and Hob Heavyfoot, finally coming strolling up to the corpse and two bloody combatants. Hob calls over to group, "Whats all this about then?"

Vennan is still wincing from the beating he took as he gets to his feet. "... Officers. Vennan Ha... I mean, Vennan of House Guardian. Explorer's Guild. There was a disturbance. The Gizzle triplets were engaging in some manner of violent shakedown again. And I believe some rats got loose."

Kravar collects his lost weapons and shield if nobody stops him (slowly, and making a big show of holding them unreadied for use and only long enough to put away). He looks over at Vennan, studying him for a minute but then looking away without any sign of recognition and watching the guard for their reaction.

Taurex: Hob guffaws, "Rats you say? Oh, we don't worry rats, do we, Rob?" Rob replies, "Just the two legged variety, Hob. And looks like one of those just got a fairly nice dagger stuck in his chest, perhaps these nice gentlemen know whose dagger that might be?" Rob eyes the pair of you thoughtfully.

Vennan raises his eyebrow slightly. "Perhaps I didn't make myself clear. I'm part of the House Guardian Diplomatic Corps from Llyranost. I'm quite certain you wouldn't want to explain to your superiors why you caused an incident. Besides, I'm sure you're sufficiently knowledgeable about local hoodlums to know that these men have records of violence and thieving. We've done you a favor by subduing them. I'm surprised there isn't a bounty of some sort."

<OOC> Shrike says, "I love you, Vennan."

Kravar examines the dagger, double-checks his belt to make sure his own is there, then turns towards the guard. "I've never seen that dagger before," he supplies helpfully.

Taurex: Rob looks at Hob for a moment, then Rob reaches down, pulls the dagger from the corpse, wipes it on the corpse's pant leg, and tosses it so it ends up sliding under the bleachers. Rob then turns to Hob and notes, "On second thought, I don't recall seeing a dagger after all. Looks like this poor fellow just fell on some sharp rocks to me, Hob. That what it look like to you?" Hob nods firmly, "Indeed it does, Rob. Clearly we have another case of falling onto pointy rocks. Lot of that going around these days." He pauses a moment, then adds to Vennan, "Would his . . . grace, is it? Like us to cart away the body or would you . . . . "

Vennan suppresses a slight smile of satisfaction, though not particularly well. "The correct title is 'Lord', but as you are not citizens of Llyranost, you are not required to address me as such. Simple respect and courtesy will suffice. Do whatever local custom decrees with the body."

Taurex: Rob promptly replies, "Right you are, Lord. We'll just drop this off at the temple like usual, then." He picks up the corpse and hefts it over one shoulder. Hob notes to Kravar, "And we expect YOU to stop by the watchhouse and give us a report. And, needless to say, you better not cast any dispersions on the good Lord here's character when you do so." Hob turns back to Vennan, "No need for you to do so, of course. We understand you are a busy man and can't be bothered with such things." With that, the pair of guardsmen heads off.

Kravar gives Hob his most sincere nod, practically standing at attention until the guard is gone and then slumping with relief. He gives Vennan a nod, "Lord." Then he heads for the tent exit, aiming to head back to his room at the inn and sleep for a few days.

Vennan can't help but smile to himself just a little before he exits the tent. Time to go see if any of those druidesses from earlier are still lingering about. He may be stoic, but he's not made of stone!
