The Guild of Explorers called together any adventurers they could find for this job. Didn't care who, or what their qualifications were. This job wasn't even posted, more or less grabbed whoever was in the guild building at the time, or even in the Ox-Strength next door to make sure they had enough for the job. Xavier was the contact for this one and walked into the waiting room that the group was told to wait in once they 'accepted' the job for the guild.

Larron, a human that is a little above average height and bulkier than most human males, stays at the periphery, though he is clearly interested in the job, watching the contact closely as soon as they arrive. He is carrying an ominous looking weapon: 8' long, with a blade and hook fashioned from some dull metal. He glances about at his comrades, nodding politely, but wordless for the moment. His eyes return to Xavier and he waits for futher information, leaning on the over-sized stick.

Vuk was standing proud in the room, he had been sought out at the tavern next store to the guild. Clearly, his renown was prolific and he was much needed, at least, so it went to the Gobber's head. Even now he's strutting about, giving 'advice' to any one else here. It ranges from the obvious to outlandish. "I say my good man, thats a rather large weapon it is." He'll comment to Larron whilst polishing his monocole and straightening his top hat. "I do hope you don't trip! Be a bad show in front of our employers if you were to be found in such a state of dissaray!" He comments to Larron before moving to strut across the room again.

Kiroth enters after being pulled off the street. He had enough time to go get on his armor and bring his gar. He moves in after the others and he gives a nod as he scans those who are also in the room. "Greetings." He moves over and he puts his shield down to lean on it.

Ssylrath comes in, plate-mail clad and scaly, and stands by the wall eyeing the others in the room. He appears slightly uncomfortable indoors, his long tongue licking over his snout periodically.

Renfrey scratches his heads and shrugs at the oppertunity of a new job. Perhaps he can use his tools to help. The skinny locksmith checks his various pockets and looks up with a grin "I'm ready? Whats the job?!"

There's slightly uncomfortable, then there's really not so happy to be anywhere near here. That would be the wolf that pads in, eyes darting and nose sniffing at everything. He has a wolfling attached to his back, fur and furs and lucht fur all sort of blending together. She peers and sniffs around, too, following Ssylrath in. He said there were good things here, even if the hunting wasn't. Maybe Rhar will think so, too? Eventually.

Xavier looks at everyone and nods, "You should all do. We got a messenger from a small town not that far out of Alexandria, just a few hours really. Seems a stranger came into the village and started to attack people without provocation. The men managed to corner him into a barn, but they cannot subdue him. They sent word asking for immediate help."

If Larron noticed the Goblin's comments, the only evidence of it is a slightly raised eyebrow. He doesn't respond, giving his attention instead to Xavier. He does then speak, his words in an accent not native to Alexandria, but clipped and polished, enunciated with precision and care: "This individual is to be apprehended alive then? Is he alone? How was he equipped?" He leaves it at three short interrogatives, ceeding the floor to the other warriors gathered then.

Ssylrath glances down at Rhar, his voice harsh and sibilant. "I cannot believe that your companion wasss allowed in and mine wass not." He doesn't not sound actually surprised. "Ssomeone trying to kill without cause. This must sstop."

Vuk will move to adjust his monocole again when Xavier begins speaking. "A ruffian who needs to be brought to justice eh?" The ever cheerful and annoying hyper Goblin asks. Tactical knowledge? Vuk doesn't seem to grasp how this might be helpful. It's more the ..animal looking people that might make him step a few paces away. Actually, it's mostly the wolf looking duo, even the lizard man is less intimidating.

Kiroth listens to Xavier, "What race is this man? Human?" He asks and he nods to Ssylrath, Vuk and Rhar, 'So when do we leave?"

Renfrey pfffs. "How hard can it be? All we need to do is sneak up behind him and knock him upside the head. Then you can do that thing to him, whats it called again? Justice? Yeah that whole jail thing." the rogue notes with a grin.

That's an easy one. Rhar points at the entryway. "Gurr fit door." Then all the things that people are talking about make sense. Mostly. "Stop strange hurt people," she points out. With her stick. "With stick!"

"If you can bring him back alive, that would be preferable," Xavier looks to all of them, and shakes his head. "The messenger was quick with his not eand fairly out of breath. He does not recall any weapons, but said the man had weird clothing, like robes. I do not know what it means, but I'm sure you will all figure it out when you get there. And, you leave immediately."

Larron nods at the last and straightens up, lifting the pole arm and preparing to head out, glancing about once again. He looks back to Xavier one last time, nodding, asking: "Which village was it?"

Vuk will move to collect his pack once they are told to get going! He almost strides out until he realizes Larron's question is fairly valid, he might want to know where to go.

Kiroth nods a little bit, "All right we will try to bring him back to face justice." He picks up his shield as he waits for the direction to go.

Ssylrath edges towards the door, only waiting for the answer to Larron's question before leaving. He grins toothily at Rhar, loosening his falchion in its sheath. "Doors can be made wider."

Xavier nods and hands Larron a map. "Not far really, should just take you a few hours to get there. I'm sure the townsfolk can answer more questions. Now go, they said immediately."

Rhar likes the leaving immediately. So does Gurr. They're still pretty close to the door, so they go back out it. They already know where to go. With everybody else. The outside here doesn't smell so good, but it's more outside than this little cave.

Larron looks at the map, and then about at his comrades. "Should not take long," he assures them, heading for the door himself. He has long strides but outside a horse awaits him - looks like he's planning on riding to their destination. It has a military saddle and the horse has the appearance and demeanour of an animal used to combat.

Renfrey follows the others out. Surely this cannot be too difficult for his clever fingers to solve. However he does make a point of staying towards the back of the group, not even first to leave through the doorway.

Vuk will ..figure out some way to keep up, he's not against legging it, infact, thats normally what happens. "Let us go forth and save these villagers from the foul Ruffian then! We'll show him what for won't we my brave friends?" He says as he goes out to start off in what he really hopes is the right direction.

The moment he is outside Ssylrath mounts a chain-clad bear that is waiting outside making the horses nervous. He settles into the saddle and readies a lance, waiting for the others to be prepared.

Kiroth follows the others out and he starts towards the village just walking. He doesn't seem to mind though. "Let's hope we can resolve this peacefully."

It takes a few hours of travel but you manage to get to a small village outside of Alexandria. People are about and look openly nervous, and not a lot of the daily work being done. When everyone approaches, the people rush forward. "Are you here to stop him?" "Can you take him away?" "He hurt so many!" "He needs to be stopped!"

Kiroth nods politely, "Hello. What is the problem? What is he doing that you want him removed?" He asks as he looks around at the crowd.

Sliding out of his saddle, Larron gains his feet and hefts the guisarme once again. He looks about, apparently looking for these injured, and sees none. He now keeps to the rear of the group, his purpose as guide having been fulfilled, and leaves the talking to Kiroth. He does look about however, trying to ascertain if there are anyone hiding and scanning the ground to see if there are any unusual tracks.

Rhar and Gurr are happy to be outside. Even if it's cold or snowy. That's what fur's for! They both like moving, too, so the trip to the village is fun. More fun than the stinky place will all the people squished together with all the rocks and nothing to hunt. When they get to the people, others in the pack have questions, she hears. So does Rhar. "Where hurt so many one?" That's the important question. Gurr also wants to know where the food is, but he doesn't have to ask. He just keeps sniffing and can find it himself.

Ssylrath pulls out a leather package and unwraps it, revealing a hunk of meat about the size of his fist. He tosses it into the jaws of his bear. "Meat." He points at the villagers. "Not meat." He makes sure the animal appears to understand and lets the others do the talking, staying back from the crowd.

Vuk wasn't exactly about to rush off to a barn with a man who was already angry was. He does by now, having his musket unslung and the hammer half cocked and grunts a bit when the bear is taught between meat and not meat. He also sort of falls into Larron's shadow.

"Quiet!" Comes a voice from the porch of a building. "These people came to help us and with all of you crowding them, it won't be much help." It was a big burly man that spoke and came down the steps and started to move his way up to the group. "Glad you could make it." Everyone notices that the building the man came from seems to have a large concentration of people around it, other than the party. "You are here to take care of the man, right?"

Kiroth looks around and he holds up his hands, "Okay we understand that he is attacking people. What happened that he was attacking them? He could just be sick and in need of some healing."

Having seen nothing untoward in the surrounds, Larron does step forward then, apparently taking note of the burly man approaching. He moves to stand near to Kiroth, guarding the man's flank, his eyes now moving about the buildings to try and locate where the quarry might be imprisoned. His eyes often go to the building with the large crowd, as if it were the chief suspect.

Ssylrath watches, holding his lance and occasionally muttering quietly to the bear. He waits to see what the locals have to say.

Rhar has to find the man first. Harder to take care of someone when you don't know where someone is. Gurr wants to find food. Maybe they'll find both in the same place! Gurr starts padding around more, sniffing. Rhar sniffs, too, trying to sniff out hurt-people man. She can let Gurr sniff out the food.

The man nodded and gave a bark to the people to make them get back to work. "My apologies for them. I'm the mayor of this village, thank you for coming. Indeed, it is strange. The man showed up a bit before sundown yesterday, stumbling out of the woods. When someone went to help, he just attacked, and did so to anyone who got close to him. We managed to get him into one of the barns just outside of town and locked him in there. He's been quiet ever since. Something was very off with him and we figured he'd need help from the city, but we barely held him off the first time, we didn't want to risk trying it again."

Vuk hears where to go and coughs quiet, stepping out from behind the larger man he was hiding behind. "Good sir, if I may so inquire, if you don't mind. I understand this must be a trying time Sir Mayor, and I understand you wish to be rid of the menace, but did he seemed to be afflicted by any decay of the flesh?" He asks.

Renfrey nods to the mayor "So whats keeping him in the barn? Any locks? How many windows? Is there access through the roof?" he rattles of questions about the building. "Oh and is it possible to approach without anyone inside seeing?"

The goblin's words seem to start Larron out of his reverie, and as if the question opened the gate to interrogatives, he decides to add some of his own: "We were told he wore robes: how did he attack people? Bare handed?" His brow furrows in reflective concern. "Did he seem to be a monk?"

Kiroth hmms, "He sounds sick to me. I'd be happy to go in and talk to him. If there are a lot of people he might feel threatened."

The mayor shook his head, "None that we could see to be honest. He did seem dazed, but though we did not get a proper look, he didn't seem injured." He lookd over to Renfrey. "We locked and barricaded all the doors, there some small windows, but very high up. We have had a watch on it all night and day, no sign of him leaving. And he was bare-handed..." The man paused at Larron's question. "Maybe a monk, would explain the clothing."

Vuk grunts a bit at the mention of a monk and moves to skulk off to find the barricaded barn, he's small, and quiet. "Maybe. I think I'll find a window to watch from." He says, he isn't charging into the barn with a bezerk monk.

Ssylrath has been watching. "Ssshow us where." He seems ready to go deal with the issue immediately.

Renfrey starts to unpack some climbing gear and rope from his pack "Well if its all the same to you guys why don't I go have a sneak peak through those high windows?"

Larron's breath whistles in from between his teeth, and he looks towards Kiroth then, concern even more evident on his features that the man wishes to confront the monk on his own. "I may have chanced upon this man's monastery recently," he says in that same clipped, polished tone. "I believe the signs indicated they worshipped Navos, but.. animals were avoiding the place, and there was a sense of wrongness to it. No-one answered when I knocked. The escape tunnel had been used. Perhaps by this very individual." A pause and then: "I do not think you should go alone."

The man nods, "I'll show you to where the barn is if you are ready." He motions down the road. He leads you all through the village and then away for a bit, but not very far, still within sight. "We don't know why he stopped fighting, but he did. The large barn door is definitely barricated by various things that the villagers were able to find to block the door, and several men outside of it to make sure that the man inside didn't escape. "We will help you clear away the barricade so you can get inside."

Kiroth nods a little bit, "If you wish to accompany me I am not going to stop you. Please lead on." He hefts his shield and he moves over towards the barn. He hmms, "You didn't take any chances I see."

"Not go alone!" Now Rhar knows what to look for. A barricaded barn. With a bare-handed man inside. And people watching. So that's what she starts looking for. Following others should help, too.

Ssylrath's bear ambles along after the wolf, sniffing at its tail as they go.

Vuk sort of realizes about now, he has no real gear for climbing, so he'll fall back into Larron's shadow. "What if he isn't a monk eh? What if he can summon air and fire to his side?"

Renfrey nods to Kiroth "Sure as sure, mind if I peek in first? Make sure there not some trap inside?" he offers pulling his cloak over his shoulder and puts his climbing gear on. "He probably won't see me."

Unhesitating, Larron helps dismantle the barricade. After his outburst and the verbal concession from Kiroth, he has quietened down again, but the big man looks over his shoulder more often, and appears to be in a state of hypervigilance. Curiously, neither the bear nor the wolf seem to trouble him, but the occupant of the barn seems to have etched the lines on his brow. Finally, he responds to the goblin: "That would be preferable to what I sensed at the monastery."

Kiroth hmms, "If you want to you can probably see something through the cracks." He sets down his shield to start to help moves the barricade.

While the others work on the barricade Renfrey will go looking for a high windows ne can climb up to.

<OOC> Elessa says, "Alright, so Renfrey is going to do a bit of scouting. Anyone going to help remove the barricade?"

<OOC> Larron says, "Larron is!"

<OOC> Kiroth says, "Kiroth is"

<OOC> Ssylrath will as well, even dismounting if necessary. Unless Muddy the bear can be useful.

<OOC> Rhar could chew on it, but it probably doesn't taste good.

<OOC> Vuk says, "I think a bear could probably move heavy objects. I'm using Larron as cover. >>"

<OOC> Renfrey says, "So.. stealth, climb and perception?"

<OOC> Elessa says, "All three Renfrey and a strength check from anyone clearing away the barricade"

You paged Renfrey with 'You get up just fine, and inside, in the middle of the barn you see someone dressed in some sort of robes sitting in a lotus position, not moving.'

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Apparently Muddy doesn't want to help. :)"

You paged Ssylrath with 'You and your bear are unfortunately not much help, but you try :)'

Renfrey pages: Looks calm?

You paged Renfrey with 'Yep'

You paged Renfrey with 'knowledge/religion'

Renfrey pages: Don't have it.

GAME: Kiroth rolls strength: (3)+3: 6

You paged Renfrey with 'Right, rogue ;) Hmmm, local'

GAME: Renfrey rolls knowledge/local: (10)+11: 21

You paged Renfrey with 'If you didn't know better, you'd say he was meditating.'

You paged Kiroth with 'You try but there's a lot of heavy stuff in there.'

Kiroth helps the best that he can as there is lots of heavy stuff, "They must have really wanted to keep him in here."

Ssylrath is having trouble getting Muddy the bear to cooperate. "Muddy! There! Pusssh that... thing!" Muddy is having one of it, merely pawing at the blockages.

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "*having none of it"

Renfrey pages: Any problem with me posing coming down and relaying info before they clear stuff?

Larron applies himself, moving pieces of the barricade and listening. To Kiroth's comment, he notes: "All the same, I think you correct: the man may just be suffering some mental malady." A pause, and then: "Let us hope it does not come to violence."

Renfrey pages: Rather before they barge in.

You paged Renfrey with 'Go for it'

Vuk will move to draw his axe and gesture to the men to stop pushing the barricades. "Wait, let me make a hole down here, and I can look into the barn from here in case he's waiting." He says, trying to crawl or crouch, or in some way, make an eyehole at about knee level with his axe.

Renfrey slides down a rope from his perch and approaches the party while they work on the barricade. "Looks monkish enough and he's just sitting there, doing that... what do you call it? Meditating?" Renfrey offers "Doesn't look crazy or nothing."

Ssylrath nods, kneeing Muddy to a ready position. "Then we talk. Talk is good."

Rhar and Gurr just watch all the people at the door. It takes alot of people and grunting to open a door. Axes, too? Rhar is happy she has no doors.

<OOC> Larron says, "Hrm. Are we through to the barn yet?"

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "We could just knock."

<OOC> Elessa says, "Yep. Renfrey sort of took a look inside in a high window, guy doesn't seem to be doing anything inside. You've helped clear away enough to get to the door and head inside."

With the help of some of the villagers, enough of the barricade is cleared away to see a door and be able to open it. Now all there is to do is go inside.

Kiroth knocks on the barndoor before he goes in, "Excuse me, we are here from the city of Alexandria, we have had reports that you are attacking these villagers are you all right." He will turn on his detect evil to scope out the inside of the barn.

The man is sitting there in the center of the barn, legs folded under him in a lotus position, hands on his knees, eyes closed, but facing the barn door. He doesn't seem to move, except for breathing, not reacting to the sound outside, or being addressed.

You paged Kiroth with 'There is something about the man from the detect evil, but it's... weird'

Kiroth pages: can I knowledge/religion it to try to figure it out?

You paged Kiroth with 'Sure'

After shifting the last few pieces of barricade, Larron follows Kiroth in, trying to look minimally intimidating with his pole arm in his hands. He moves to the side, again covering Kiroth's flank, and looks about: first he scans the interior everywhere except at the monk, and then he surveys the monk. Anyone looking closely might notice his mouth is slightly open, possibly to amplify whatever residual noises hidden assailants might make.

GAME: Kiroth rolls knowledge/religion: (5)+7: 12

Vuk's plan is apparently not needed, so he'll move to worm his way forward behind a piece of barricade so he can watch inside the barn, axe resting under his musket, the weapon levelled at the monk.

You paged Kiroth with 'Not sure, it's still weird, not like other evil creatures you've probably seen before.'

Kiroth stares at the man and he holds up his hand, "There is something strange going on here. I have not seen this before. I am seeing something evil about him, but not normally what I would see from an evil creatures."

Ssylrath rides foward beside the others, holding his lance upright. With his other hand he shows an open palm. "Peace on your nesst." He also looks around and then back at the seated man.

Renfrey slips inside after the better armored folks. He has not drawn his weapon to remain unthreatening but none the less keeps a tight grip on his rapier. ""Evil but not evil?" he questions Kiroth in a hushed tone "Maybe.... he's infected or something? Like an evil disease? Is evil contagious?" he asks as an aside.

Larron pauses when Kiroth's hand goes up, holding his position to the man's side. Kiroth's words penetrate, and he asks: "Possibly there is some malady that affects him which is evil, while the man himself is not evil?" His grasp on the pole arm is light, almost as if he were not anticipating using it, though his posture suggests he is not unprepared for combat.

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Is anyone here actually good at diplomacy?"

<OOC> Vuk is a cute friendly gobber?

Kiroth nods, "It could be." He has his shield ready as he moves closer, 'We don't mean you any harm if you are injured or sick we can try to help you."

GAME: Kiroth rolls diplomacy: (10)+11: 21

Rhar follows the others who move inside. "Not strange," she points at the man. "Sits." There's nothing strange about that. Sit. Stand. Lie down. Everything does that.

You paged Kiroth with 'How close do you get? In feet?'

Kiroth pages: I'll keep 30 ft between us

<OOC> Elessa says, "Is everyone inside the barn?"

Vuk hears mention of evil, but for now he keeps still and keeps watching intently, sticking to the barricade bits, shifting a bit so more of it will cover him.

<OOC> Vuk is figuring I'm right in the entry way under some barricade bits. Bravely hiding.

<OOC> Larron is covering Kiroth's flank - so yes.

<OOC> Ssylrath is.

<OOC> Elessa says, "Rahr and Renfrey?"

<OOC> Renfrey is inside.

When Kiroth gets closeer, barely before he is able to speak, the man's eyes open up quickly and he gets up and charges at Kiroth with a strong yell.

Vuk doesn't need to wait to find out the man's intent, he pulls the trigger on his musket and it roars to life, spewing forth it's deadly payload...that isn't so deadly when it barely grazes the man. Then Vuk settles in with smacking it a few times before starting to work a small sphere of metal or glass into it and keeping his eyes on the man.

The monk charged forward at Kiroth in rage, striking out with his own fists to try and hit Kiroth, though the paladin's armor keeps those blosed from hurting him, but make a couple of nice 'dinks', but it doesn't seem to be stopping him.

<OOC> Elessa says, "Rhar!"

Larron pages: Did the monk move within 10' of me? The Guisarme is a reach weapon, just wondered if I'd have gotten an AoO.. if so, is he human? My favored enemy is humanoid (human).

<OOC> Rhar says, "Is anyone else near the mean man besides Kiroth?"

<OOC> Larron says, "Me."

<OOC> Larron is covering Kiroth's flank.

You paged Larron with 'I know you were watching Kiroth's flank, but does that mean you were right behind him?'

Larron pages: I'm happy if that means I wasn't in position for AoO, I just wanted to check and see. Posing doesn't give us the refinement of a gridmap, after all. :-)

<OOC> Rhar says, "Ooh! Can I cover the mean man's flank? :)"

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "I'm probably somewhere nearby? I'm unsure."

You paged Larron with 'True :) Why I have to keep one on my own.'

Larron pages: Very wise! I'll assume I am not in position for AoO then. And, uh, I'll pipe down.

<OOC> Elessa says, "You'll have to get around him. And Vuk is in the back which is 20' away, you all between 5' and 15' away from him."

You paged Whirlpool with 'Quick question, it just hasn't come up in my DMing TT yet in Pathfinder. If someone has a reach weapon, standing behind an ally, are there any penalties like cover to attacking the enemy?'

You paged Larron with 'Well I want to know if you right behind Kiroth :)'

<OOC> Rhar will run around and come in from the flank. "Rhar with stick, Gurr with teeth."

Larron pages: I'd be to his left (the traditional flank), but not behind him, no.

You paged Larron with 'Okay, you'd get an AOO, give me a moment before you roll'

Larron pages: The monk is human?

You paged Larron with 'And fyi, at least for me, you can do those questions in OOC'

You paged Larron with 'And yes'

<OOC> Elessa says, "Alright Rhar, and you can do it and stay out of his reach. But before you attack, Larron does get an AoO because he has a reach weapon."

<OOC> Elessa says, "And just fyi, all combat questions, keep to OOC so it's easier for log editting later"

<OOC> Rhar says, "Ok."

<OOC> Elessa says, "So go ahead and roll Larron?"

<OOC> Larron coughs. "I'll use my AoO to go with a trip with the Guisarme. If it fails, I'll drop it."

<OOC> Elessa says, "That will fail, but damage from the weapon"

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "I didn't think you got damage if you tried a manueuver."

GAME: Larron rolls 2d4+6: (6)+6: 12

<OOC> Larron thought it was all maneuver with no damage too.

<OOC> Elessa is double-checking something. Oh wait, you can do trip in place of a melee attack.

<OOC> Larron says, "Yes ma'am. I was trying to be all non-lethal and such."

<OOC> Elessa says, "No problem, so the trip fails"

<OOC> Larron says, "And now he's too close for the guisarme. Okay. Thank you."

<OOC> Elessa says, "Gotcah. Okay, Rhar, you may now roll your attack"

GAME: Rhar rolls melee: (11)+5: 16

<OOC> Rhar says, "And Gurr teeth..."

GAME: Rhar rolls 1d20+3: (14)+3: 17

As the man approaches Kiroth for an attack, Larron brings the pole arm to bear, attempting to sweep the monk's legs out - the monk is too agile for his attack, however, and deftly avoids it.

<OOC> Elessa says, "And that's right. If anyone wants to do nonlethal damage but is using a lethal weapon, you must incorporate a -4 to your attack"

<OOC> Elessa says, "And those both miss."

GAME: Elessa advances the initiative order. Round One - Init 9. It is now Kiroth's turn! Larron is next! GAME: Note Flat-footed on Kiroth ended.

<OOC> Elessa says, "Paladin :)"

"Rhar! Hit with stick!" She wants the mean man to know who is bonking him. Gurr leaps around Kiroth and Larron, then lunges in from the side. Attacks are better in packs! Rhar swings her stick and Gurr snaps his jaws... but the mean man is nimble. No bonks or bites.

<OOC> Kiroth says, "With a heal check can I tell if he's sick at all"

<OOC> Elessa says, "Okay"

GAME: Kiroth rolls heal: (1)+8: 9

<OOC> Elessa says, "No idea"

<OOC> Kiroth says, "Then I'll try to hit him with the flat of my blade."

<OOC> Elessa says, "Alright, remember the -4"

GAME: Kiroth rolls 1d20+6: (6)+6: 12

<OOC> Elessa says, "Miss"

GAME: Elessa advances the initiative order. Round One - Init 7. It is now Larron's turn! Ssylrath is next! GAME: Note Flat-footed on Larron ended.

<OOC> Elessa says, "Larron"

Kiroth doesn't want to hurt the monk as he fends off the attack. He tries to hit him with the flat of his blade, but he misses the monk.

<OOC> Larron says, "Drop the Guisarme, wade in with my fists. I have improved unarmed strike and two weapon fighting. I'll try and find a position that gives me flank. I'll choose to use non-lethal damage in my unarmed strikes."

<OOC> Elessa says, "Rhar is currently flanking with Kiroth, but can flank with Gurr, it will take 10', one path out of his threat space, one path in his threat space."

<OOC> Larron says, "Huh. Don't fancy that much - I'll go without flank for now, but take a 5' step towards where I can get flank. Sound good?"

<OOC> Rhar and Gurr share space right now.

<OOC> Elessa says, "Oh, so no place where you can get flank at this point."

GAME: Larron rolls melee-2+2: (18)+8+-2+2: 26

GAME: Elessa advances the initiative order. Round One - Init 6. It is now Ssylrath's turn! Renfrey is next! GAME: Note Flat-footed on Ssylrath ended.

<OOC> Elessa says, "Ssylrath :)"

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "How far away am I?"

<OOC> Elessa says, "10 feet away"

<OOC> Ssylrath will move into flank with Larron if possible, challenging him, dropping the lance and pulling a falchion and attacking for nonlethal. The bear will not attack for now.

<OOC> Elessa says, "Now much movement do you have?"

Moving in, Larron discards the pole arm and leads with his right, a hook that connects solidly with the monk's chest. The left jab however, goes wide, and Larron assumes a boxer's guard, left fist prominent, watching the monk warily.

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "80', double move for the bear."

<OOC> Elessa says, "You have the movement to get around and into flank."

GAME: Ssylrath rolls melee -4 +1 +1: (16)+8+-4+1+1: 22

<OOC> Elessa says, "You hit"

GAME: Ssylrath rolls 2d4+6+1+4: (5)+6+1+4: 16

<OOC> Vuk says, "Now how do I make a musket do non lethal damage.. :P"

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Everyone else has +2 to hit in melee while I threaten him."

<OOC> Kiroth says, "You can't really"

<OOC> Larron says, "Use it as a club!"

<OOC> Elessa says, "Sure, if you want to try and break it ;)"

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Can I pose that?"

Ssylrath pages: Damage: Strength x1.5, magic, challenge.

<OOC> Elessa says, "Yep, go ahead and pose"

Ssylrath drops the lance to go into close quarters, urging Muddy around his foe. "You! Face me! These othersss are not your enemies!" He swings his sword, connecting with the flat with an audible thunk.

GAME: Elessa advances the initiative order. Round One - Init 6. It is now Renfrey's turn! Vuk is next!

<OOC> Elessa says, "Now it's the rogue's turn"

<OOC> Renfrey says, "Ok, can I get into flanking? I can acrobatics through a threatened square if needed."

<OOC> Ssylrath is 10' space for easy flank-partnering.

<OOC> Elessa says, "Unfortunately there are four on him and they are all flanking with each other."

<OOC> Renfrey says, "So in that case I will just move in and do nonlethal."

GAME: Renfrey rolls weapon3-4: (6)+0+-4: 2

<OOC> Elessa says, "Nope :("

<OOC> Renfrey says, "Thats not right but it wouldnt hit either. XD"

<OOC> Renfrey says, "Not with a 6. XD"

GAME: NEW ROUND! Elessa advances the initiative order. Round Two - Init 24. It is now Vuk's turn! Monk is next!

<OOC> Elessa says, "Vuk!"

<OOC> Vuk says, "Imma CHAAAARGE"

<OOC> Vuk says, "cause I'm short"

<OOC> Elessa says, "Okay"

You paged Ssylrath with 'So what size category are you?'

Ssylrath pages: The bear is Large, I share its space.

GAME: Vuk rolls melee-4+2: (13)+3+-4+2: 14

<OOC> Vuk says, "no go?"

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Sorry not to make clear the bear is the size of a horse."

Whirlpool pages: Yes, there are.

Whirlpool pages: It's treated as soft cover in the way, officially, I believe.

<OOC> Elessa says, "It's okay. So basically, Kiroth is in flank with Rhar, Ssyulrath is in flank with Larron, Renfrey is now in flank with Vuk."

You paged Whirlpool with 'It passed anyway :)'

<OOC> Vuk wields deadly musketclub.

Renfrey sighs, was kind of hoping this wouldn't go down like that but sure enough he draws his rapier and moves in to strike the monk with the flat side of his thin blade but to little effect. He furrows his brow and ponders another course of action, this is not going to work.

<OOC> Larron says, "It might break. You got a sap?"

<OOC> Vuk says, "Man if I can hit some one hard enough to break it I'd be surprised. I'm a Gobber."

<OOC> Vuk says, "Waaait. Ssyl does my charget get yer +2 also?"

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "All melee attacks."

<OOC> Rhar thinks it still misses.

<OOC> Elessa says, "And it'll be an improvised weapon as well and it'll still miss"

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "As long as I threaten him."

<OOC> Vuk says, "I dun got the penalty for that Elessa. Gobber here!"

<OOC> Vuk says, "should I reroll with appropriate bonuses?"

<OOC> Elessa says, "You'd have to use another -4 on top of the non-lethal"

<OOC> Vuk says, "thats why I did melee-4 and then +2 from charge :)"

<OOC> Elessa says, "That's for the improvised weapon"

<OOC> Vuk says, "Elessa- I dun get -4 :P"

<OOC> Larron says, "You'd get -4 (imp wpn) -4 (non-lethal) for -8."

<OOC> Vuk has Catch off Guard

<OOC> Elessa says, "Ahh! Okay"

<OOC> Vuk flexes puny gobber muscles. "Also if he's unarmed, he counts as flat footed to me with my improvized club!"

<OOC> Elessa says, "Yep, I see it :)"

<OOC> Rhar says, "He isn't unarmed."

<OOC> Larron says, "Right. Improved Unarmed Strike. He's armed."

<OOC> Elessa says, "So it's full AC"

<OOC> Vuk says, "so want me to reroll with the bonus from Ssyl or?"

<OOC> Elessa says, "Was that the only thing you were missing?"

<OOC> Vuk says, "Yah . The +2 from Ssyl, I'd have a 16 to hit with it if I dun reroll."

<OOC> Elessa says, "We're going to take the previous roll, which is still a miss."

GAME: Elessa advances the initiative order. Round Two - Init 16. It is now Monk's turn! Rhar is next!

Then there's Vuk, since every one else has decided subduing the man is good, he's rushing in with his axe slapping against his side with a dull clinking on his belt and his musket held like a club, trying to smash the man in the knee..since..Vuk can't really get a good swing any where else.

GAME: Rhar rolls 1d20+7: (8)+7: 15

<OOC> Elessa says, "So just the first, yeah, misses. Roll your crit damage"

<OOC> Rhar says, "Silly question. Slingstaff is x3 crit, but can be used as club. Is it just club crit when clubbing?"

<OOC> Larron says, "PRD says it's equal to a club of the same size, so I'd say yes."

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "That would be club crit."

GAME: Rhar rolls 2d4+6: (3)+6: 9

"No hit people!" Rhar growls at the punchy man. While swinging her stick at his head. And konking him. *KONK*

<OOC> Larron says, "Everyone still awake?"

<OOC> Renfrey is here.

<OOC> Vuk nods, is also here.

<OOC> Elessa says, "I'm here, sorry"

GAME: Elessa advances the initiative order. Round Two - Init 9. It is now Kiroth's turn! Larron is next!

<OOC> Elessa says, "Kiroth"

<OOC> Kiroth says, "I'll switch to lethal and smite"

<OOC> Elessa says, "Okay"

GAME: Kiroth rolls 1d8+6: (4)+6: 10

<OOC> Elessa says, "Down"

<OOC> Elessa says, "Alive though"

Kiroth sees one of his companions get hurt and he turns the blade back to slash at the monk. He can always heal the monk later after they have subdued him, "Keep your focus on me. Shining Knight guide my blade." He smites the monk down. "I am sorry to have hurt you, but I could not let you hurt others. Quickly bind him and I shall heal him."

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Can we tie him up?"

<OOC> Elessa says, "Sure, survival check"

GAME: Ssylrath rolls survival: (8)+8: 16

<OOC> Larron is also going to be tying him up.

<OOC> Elessa says, "Tie him up"

<OOC> Elessa says, "Give me a roll too Larron"

GAME: Larron rolls survival: (18)+9: 27

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Should we pose that?"

<OOC> Elessa says, "You two get him nice and tied up, please do so"

Larron pauses, taking a punch to his jaw that jerks his head backwards, but he resumes his posture and seems about prepared to launch his own sally of jabs, but the monk is struck down. Then he hears Kiroth's words and he reaches for his rope, though he's obviously no expert. He kneels down and starts the work of tying up the unconscious man.

Ssylrath pulls out a rope as he swings out of the saddle and sheaths his sword. "Tie him, yes." He looks at the rope and at the prone form. "Where do I start? He has no tail to begin at." He gets to work anyway.

<OOC> Elessa says, "Feel free to do as you want to"

Vuk will reverse the musket so he can keep the barrel pointed at the monk's form. "I think we should talk to the Mayor about a cart to bring him back. It would be faster, and we wouldn't need to carry him." he suggests.

Kiroth sheathes his sword as the glow on the blade fades and he kneels down. He puts his hands on the monk to stop the wounds from bleeding.

GAME: Kiroth rolls 1d6: (1): 1

<OOC> Elessa says, "That is enough to bring him back to conscious. You guys actually got him exactly to 0 :)"

Renfrey allows the rest of the party members to tie up the prisoner. Instead he goes about exploring the barn for anything unusual. Maybe with some luck he can find a clue here, although he doubts it.

Eyes flicker open as the healing power comes over him, and the monk looks up at Kiroth, his eyes clearer than when they were during the fight. "Where... where am I?" He starts to move then stops when he finds that he is tied up. "What..."

Gurr watches the man warily and growls. Rhar ...does pretty much the same. She doesn't know why the mean man was hitting people. Except that he's mean.

Kiroth smiles, "Be at peace, you are in a small village in a barn, you apparently came here and started attacking people. I'm sorry but we had to hurt you to stop you. I have stopped your bleeding, but you are still very badly hurt. If you will give me a moment I'd like to check something." He turns back on detect evil to see if the monk looks normal now.

Ssylrath steps back to his bear and scoops up his lance from where he dropped it, watching to see what happens. He speaks quietly. "Yes Muddy, there will be more meat later. Not now."

You paged Kiroth with 'No evil. It's gone.'

Once he is certain the monk is well-secured, and Kiroth has finished his healing, Larron checks over the man's wounds without spells, especially when he hears the where and what. A frown settles on his brow, but he remains silent. Once he is certain the monk will recover without further intervention, he steps aside to leave the dialogue to Kiroth. That's when he retrieves his pole arm from the ground where he dropped it.

Vuk just sort of backs up a few steps when the monk can begin talking. You know, when faced with some thing dangerous, he has that furtive glance like his more feral cousin, but he isn't bolting, but if that man gets free, he just might!

GAME: Larron rolls heal: (14)+9: 23

<OOC> Larron says, "Is there any signs of wounds other than what we just inflicted?"

<OOC> Elessa says, "Nope"

The monk nodded, "Please, I am sorry if I have hurt anyone. But my brothers, the abbot... Something came to the monastery, something evil, they must be helped!"

"I have been to this monastery," Larron tells the man in a gentle tone, while he rubs at his jaw where he was struck. "Whatever infests it is well beyond my ability to resolve." He pauses a moment and then adds, "The Villagers here will doubtless wish to submit you to some sort of justice, but you might well defend yourself by claiming an evil influence. It would help your case if you would speak with the Priests in the Temples in town. Tell them what you know of this evil. Help bring it to an end."

Ssylrath frowns, his eye-ridges furrowing. "Something? What did this ssomething do? Why should we help, will they also be attacking without purpose?"

Vuk grunts a bit and looks between them. "He looks pretty banged up, I will find a cart to help us get him back to town where healers and priests can help." He says and moves to do just that, hopefully.

The monk looks to Larron and gives a nod, "Of course. I will submit myself to whatever justice must be done. All I ask is that someone is sent to help my brothers." He looks to Ssylrath, "I believe so. We are good at our mental strength, but this thing came over us like a cloud and I could feel the desire to kill. I resisted, and got out of there, to try and get help, but whatever the creature used over me must have taken over."

Vuk easily finds the villagers willing to give up a cart and horse in order to allow them to transport the man back to the city with ease.

Ssylrath grips his lance tighter. "Killing without purpose is wrong, it is a waste of meat. This must be stopped. I am ready to help if I can, and Muddy is... always hungry I ssuppose."

"Creature it might be, but it was nothing natural," Larron assures the man. He nods to Vuk when he suggests the cart. "Can you describe it at all?" He is still wary of the monk, but there's a hint of relaxation to his limbs now. He glances at Ssylrath, expression turning contemplative. "Perhaps in a group, we might secure victory," he says.

Renfrey looks returns from looking around the barn and returns with an old rusty horse shoe, placing it in his bag. "Hrm, well if this place is so evil we likely need some priest or something to make it... less evil."

The monk shakes his head, "I barely saw it. I just heard a noise and screaming. It was horrible."

"Then I suppose all we can do is take you to the senior Priests and see if they can divine what it was that influenced you," Larron says. He offers the monk his hand to help him to the cart.

Things are smooth on the way back as they get the man in the cart and he answers any questions given to him. Turning him into the local authorities, the Temple of Daeus immediately gets involved, along with the Temple of Navros. When mention of the monastery is brought up, the priest of Daeus assures that they will gather individuals to see into it and take care of the evil that has infested it and soon.
