  • Place: Goblin village outside Alexandria
  • Time: July 28, 2015
  • Summary: Village Plagued by skeletons, call in help
  • APL: 4
  • Encounter 1: 6 Goblin Skeletal Champions (CR 1) CR 7

The is a small village not too far from Alexandria. It doesn't get a lot of visitors, mostly due to the explosions that happen on a frequent basis. THe village is primarily goblin. A small enclave of them that isn't too far from the city and all, in fact that is most of the trade, between the village and goblin town. It seems lately though they have had problems with their graveyard. THe undead are rising and attacking the city and they have asked for help. They have managed to concecrate the cemetary, but that doesn't take care of the undead that are not there anymore. They have hired some people to rid them of the undead that still plague them. The village is pretty quiet, most of the citizens either locked in their homes or they have moved into the city till it is dealt with. The undead have been attacking at the same time every evening.

"I don't suppose anyone we have here is a cleric?" Rakim drawls languidly in his curiously accented voice as eyes somewhat sharper than his lazy tones glances between the other two and an eyebrow arises.

Kalkorth has his great axe out as he's been contacted by the Adventurer's Guild to come here and help ride them of the undead. He shrugs, "I'm not a cleric." He says to the others.

Leilani casually straps her buckler to her forearm as she surveys the village, "Nor am I. Looks like we'll have to rely on mere steel." She rests her hand on the hilt of her sheathed cutlass and looks up at the sky, "Luckily for us, it seems these undead are able to tell time from what I understand."

Leilani pages: About how long until the usual time of attack? Leilani is a trained sailor and used to telling time by the position of the sun and stars. You paged Leilani with 'any time now' <OOC> Tiasa says, "free posing still"

Kalkorth nods as he starts to look around, "Well let's be careful then. I'm not one for joining them."

"Might be a pleasant rest" Rakim says as he pulls what looks like the rather fancy stock of a crossbow from beneath his coat. Gloved fingers press one of the bits of filgree decoration and two arms and a lever spring forth. Cranking back the lever a bolt drops down and the mechanism winds it back. That done he starts to scan the area carefully.

Leilani surveys the sky for a few more moments before nodding, "Shouldn't be long now at all." She draws her cutlass as she moves deeper into the village.

<OOC> Tiasa says, "perception" GAME: Kalkorth rolls perception: (1)+8: 9 (EPIC FAIL) GAME: Rakim rolls perception: (10)+14: 24 GAME: Leilani rolls perception: (12)+6: 18 You paged (Rakim, Leilani) with 'you hear scraping sounds and rattling coming closer'

Rakim's sharp eyes focus on an area as lifts his eyes to the sky above "Silver lady grant us your blessings" he prays as a light radiates out from him and around the trio. That done he offers a faint half smile to the others "Undead o'clock I beleive" he drawls with something of an edge to his voice. Blessing and warning delivered he takes some cover and awaits arrival, mumuring another soft prayer.

GAME: Rakim casts Bless. Caster Level: 5 DC: 15 <OOC> Rakim says, "Also Judgement of Justice as a swift action if that is okay?" <OOC> Tiasa says, "yep"

Kalkorth turns towards the undead as they are pointed out to him and he keeps his greataxe out and ready. "So shall we let them get closer or go out and meet them?"

Leilani's attention perks up, turning her head in order to hear better. She nods at Rakim, "I hear them, too." She slashes her cutlass through the air a few times and assumes a fighting stance as she waits for the undead to come.

<OOC> Leilani says, "How far away are they now?"

"Eluna I call down your wrath on these abominations" Rakim says, his voice more crips and professional than his usual drawl. It seems to work for as he takes aim and squeezes the trigger a bolt flies out and slams into the lead skeleton, sending it down to the ground in a shower of bone.

<OOC> Tiasa says, "20'"

The remaining skeletons are coming closer. They are only about 20' out now, four remaining.

<OOC> Leilani says, "I'll move to and attack the nearest one." <OOC> Tiasa says, "ok.." GAME: Leilani rolls finesse: (10)+6: 16 <OOC> Tiasa says, "hit" GAME: Leilani rolls 1d6+6: (6)+6: 12 <OOC> Tiasa says, "dead...pose" GAME: Tiasa advances the initiative order.

Leilani nods approvingly as one of the skeletons is destroyed by Rakim's crossbow. She then rushes forward to meet them, slashing with her cutlass and shattering the skull of another of the skeletons. She grins at the ease at which it fell.

Kalkorth charges towards the closest skeleton and even though he knows that the skeletons are best killed with a blungeoning weapon like his earth breaker there is no time to switch out. He cleaves the skeleton from stem to stern with his greataxe and he kicks away the bones. "Ha, I hope there are more then this."

GAME: Rakim rolls 1d10+1+3+1: (4)+1+3+1: 9 <OOC> Tiasa says, "hurt, still up" GAME: Tiasa advances the initiative order.

It is now Skeletons' turn! Leilani is next!

<OOC> Tiasa says, "sorry, afk a sec"

Rakim seems entirely calm as the undead approach. Of course have two melee folks in front of him is something of a reassurance. He takes aim again, some of the fancy metalwork on his mechanical crossbow serving as aiming points. The bolt streaks out in a silvery blur, but crossbows are not the best weapon against skeletons so despite a solid hit the thing lurches onwards.

GAME: Tiasa rolls 1d20+4: (15)+4: 19 GAME: Tiasa rolls 1d20+4: (13)+4: 17 GAME: Tiasa rolls 1d20+4: (12)+4: 16 GAME: Tiasa rolls 1d20+4: (20)+4: 24 GAME: Tiasa rolls 1d20+4: (18)+4: 22 <OOC> Tiasa says, "Leilani the crit is aimed towards you" <OOC> Leilani says, "Using Opportune Parry and Riposte." <OOC> Tiasa nods GAME: Leilani rolls cutlass: aliased to finesse+2: (9)+6+2: 17 <OOC> Leilani says, "Or not. >.>" GAME: Tiasa rolls 2d4+2: (7)+2: 9

The two skeletons move up and claw Kalkorth and Leilani. Another emerges behind them, missing a foot, obviously why it was moving slower.

GAME: You damaged Leilani for 9 points. 17 remaining. GAME: Tiasa advances the initiative order.

     Round Two - Init 9.

     Round Two - Init 4.
It is now Kalkorth's turn! Rakim is next!

Leilani tries to block the clawing skeleton with her buckler, but it gets through and rakes her upper arm. She grunts in pain then comes around with her cutlass. She shatters ribs, but the thing doesn't go down.

<OOC> Kalkorth says, "I'll hit the one that hit Leilani." GAME: Kalkorth rolls 1d20+8+1: (12)+8+1: 21 <OOC> Kalkorth says, "That should be -1 for PA" <OOC> Tiasa says, "you will take an aoo from the one that was clawing you to hit the one on Leilani is that alright?" <OOC> Kalkorth says, "Oh I thought I was right next to her." <OOC> Tiasa says, "you are close. but have to move too far to hit the one hitting her" <OOC> Kalkorth says, "Then I'll hit one on me." GAME: Kalkorth rolls 1d12+7+3: (2)+7+3: 12 <OOC> Tiasa says, "that will kill it." GAME: NEW ROUND!

     Tiasa advances the initiative order.
     Round Three - Init 26.
It is now Rakim's turn! Skeletons is next!

<OOC> Rakim says, "The one I shot last round still up?"

Kalkorth proves yet again that his strength is more then enough to overcome the bony bones of the skeleton as he slams his greataxe through another one.

<OOC> Tiasa says, "there are 3 up I had missed one. Leilani has a wounded one, unwounded coming in, and the one you shot last round still up" <OOC> Rakim says, "Shoot at that one again" GAME: Rakim rolls 1d20+7+1+2+2+1: (1)+7+1+2+2+1: 14 (EPIC FAIL) <OOC> Rakim lawls <OOC> Tiasa says, "miss" GAME: Tiasa advances the initiative order.

Rakim carefully takes aim again, he takes a deep breath and holds it a moment before with an exhale he squeezes the trigger. Something however goes wrong as with a twang the bolt hits some part of the mechanism and bounces back, scoring a thin line of blood across the Tsurani's cheek, and a string of curses from him.

<OOC> Tiasa says, "leilani one attack looks like going to hit" <OOC> Leilani says, "Parry attempt." GAME: Leilani rolls cutlass: aliased to finesse+2: (11)+6+2: 19 <OOC> Tiasa says, "successful" <OOC> Leilani says, "Counter attack" GAME: Leilani rolls cutlass: aliased to finesse+2: (4)+6+2: 12 <OOC> Tiasa says, "miss" GAME: Tiasa advances the initiative order.

     Round Three - Init 9.
It is now Leilani's turn! Kalkorth is next!

The latecomer and one that Rakim has been shooting both and attack Kalkorth. Then the one on Leilani strikes and is parried.

<OOC> Tiasa says, "Leilani" <OOC> Leilani says, "Attacking the one on me." GAME: Leilani rolls cutlass: aliased to finesse+2: (11)+6+2: 19 <OOC> Tiasa says, "hit" GAME: Leilani rolls 1d6+6: (5)+6: 11 <OOC> Tiasa says, "dead"

Leilani manages to block the skeleton's claws with her buckler this time and counterattacks, though her blade hits at the wrong angle and glances off the skeleton's arm. She growls and attacks again, this time shattering the skull and collapsing the skeleton into a pile of lifeless bones.

GAME: Tiasa advances the initiative order.

     Round Four - Init 26.
It is now Rakim's turn! Skeletons is next!

<OOC> Tiasa says, "1 remaining fighting Kal." <OOC> Rakim says, "Shoot at it" <OOC> Tiasa says, "aye"

Kalkorth grins as more skeletons come and he's able to brush off their attacks. He returns the attack and slams one that had all ready been hurt with his greataxe. He shatters it and he turns to face the last one.

GAME: Rakim rolls 1d20+7+1+2+2+1: (4)+7+1+2+2+1: 17 <OOC> Tiasa says, "hit" GAME: Rakim rolls 1d10+2d6+1+2+1: (5)+(4)+1+2+1: 13 <OOC> Tiasa says, "dead" <OOC> Tiasa says, "free poses after Rakim's pose" GAME: Tiasa removes the timestop. Timestop by Tiasa has left. GAME: You remove the timestop.

Some more rather impious curses come from Rakim as his smell and self-inflicted(kind of) scratch bleeds onto the silvery white lace of his jabot. His eyes narrow down in irrtation at the desecration of his finery, and that seems to propel the bolt with extra force down at the remaining skeleton, sending it down in a clatter of bones.

Kalkorth looks around as he kicks the bones, "Well is that all of them?" He says as he looks around, "Job done or shall we try to find the source?" When the last skeleton falls, Leilani looks around to make sure there aren't more lurking nearby. Not seeing any, she sheathes her blade and looks to the others, "Well, that was bracing."

Rakim carefully reloads the crossbow, checking the mechaism just in case. Once that is done he stands upright and looks to the other two "In my experience, such as it is..." he begins modestly with the langui drawl back in his voice "...undead tend not to just spontanously appear. I may suggest tracking them to the source as a start?"

Leilani nods in agreement with Rakim, "We were told the townsfolk had reconsecrated the cemetary so these few had to have been somewhere else." She points at the last one to fall, the one missing a foot, "That one would have rather distinctive tracks, I think."

Kalkorth nods, "Well I'm not much of a tracker, but I'm willing to follow if one of you two are."

One of the goblin village leaders comes out and thanks you all, that that was probably the rest of the skeletons that they just weren't able to take care of it.
