-=--=--=--=--=--=<* A07: Local Alexandria Market District *>-=--=--=--=--=--=-

Just west of the Northern Highbridge and east of the arena, commerce blooms. Noisy and bustling, most anything may be purchased here for a price. Vendors from all cultures sell their wares from exotically colored carts, and the smells of different nations and far-off city-states mix with local ones from Alexandria and its riverbanks.

For all its commerce, visitors are advised to keep hold of their purses. Even the merchants possess a certain, cunning look. Most are positioned at carts or stalls as opposed to a formal storefront, with trade here being mobile, and visiting from all parts of the world.

Though the quality of goods suffers here compared to Upper Alexandria, the options are more diverse. Too, the oversight of the Watch is slightly less, and during times events are held at the Arena, chaos abounds. After dark, the square becomes a hangout for bards and other entrepreneurs whose business is best conducted by night; the shadows at the edges of the square often contain furtive figures engaging in their own brand of business.

Jessa has arrived.

Valadhiel has arrived.

Mikilos laughs, shooing a couple of young kids away before resuming his wandering of the Market. The wizard may offer the occasional illusion show, but not today. At least, not at this particular time.

Jessa appears beside him. She does that sometimes. She's playing with a folded fan at this time, flicking it opened and closed randomly. "How're you?"

Valadhiel doesn't need magic to just disappear from sight, though it can help her sometimes. In this case, she falls into step on the other side of Mikilos, giving the wizard a slight smile, "An excellent question... how /are/ you?"

Mikilos doesn't jump. Wizard's don't get startled. That was a... skip. Yes, he's skipping in joy, and who wouldn't with Jessa around? "Wha?! Oh. Hello. Fine. Ah, well, reasonably fine, I suppose. Act- WHA!! ...oh. Uh, hello Val. Erm... there something I can help you ladies with?" Suspicious and nervous? No, what reason would he possibally have for that?

"No. I was just shopping." The fan snaps open and closed once more and she glances over it at first Mikilos and then at the newer face. "I don't believe I know you. I'm Jessa Hartose, Muse and General Fantastic Person." She offers the other woman a sweet smile.

Valadhiel smiles at Mikilos, "Why, Mikilos, you act as though it's been two years... which, come to think of it, it has been, hasn't it?" She nods over towards Jessa, "Valadhiel, though most just call me Val. It's easier that way."

Mikilos glances between the two a moment more before shrugging, turning his focus for the moment to the cleric. "Actaully, was meaning to ask you, Jessa. Do you happen to know any Muse in SilverMoon?" Two years? Eh. What are years to an elf?

Jessa taps a finger against her lips as she looks between Valadhiel and Mikilos. Once can practically /see/ the little wheels turning in her head. "Silvermoon? Haven't been there. Should I have been there? Oh, how lovely that you two know each other."

Valadhiel chuckles. "Well, we adventured together now and again, during the war involving Sendor. But that was a while ago, by human reckoning." Elves, eh, it's different. She smiles at Jessa, "I am a wizard as well, though I tend to find more comfort outdoors than some." A bit of a dig, perhaps, but a friendly one.

Mikilos shrugs lightly. "Well, it is a lovely city, I do recomend visiting some time. but no, no particular reason for having been already." The elf rolls his eyes, but smiles to Val. "I get outside plenty. Where else would I find quality spell components?"

"I bet you prance in the woods," Jessa says thoughtfully, looking Val up and down. But she's back to looking between Val and Mikilos with that same calculating expression.

Valadhiel gives Mikilos a wry expression, "Why, you normally would ask me to fetch them..." She then looks at Jessa, and laughs a bit, "Prancing, not so much, but yes, I do prefer to spend my time in the woods as opposed to locked in some boring laboratory. Even Rune has a few forests left that haven't been made into staves or wands."

Mikilos eyes Jessa a moment, and shies a step towards Val. "She's plotting something. It's likely too late to just run, but if we find a good distraction, might be able to escape the full effects."

"So did you two used to date?" Jessa asks, tilting her head. The fan is waved gently, starting a simple breeze.

Valadhiel blinks, then laughs. A lot. "Well, no, we never did. In retrospect, to be honest, I'm not sure why we didn't, but..." She hrms, and looks at Mikilos, "So, if I protect you from her, does that mean you'll take me to dinner?"

Mikilos blinks, and shrugs. "I don't think true protection is possible. Only a delay of the inevitable. But perhaps can work something out. Have you been to SilverMoon, Val?"

"You are welcome," Jessa says serenely to Mikilos when Val says what she does.

Valadhiel pauses, then shakes her head slightly, "No, I don't believe that I have been." She gives Jessa a wry look, then chuckles softly under her breath.

Mikilos rolls his eyes at Jessa, but smiles before turning focus back to Val. "I inquire as Aunt Marith has sent an inventation to my cousin's 100th birthday celebration. The sort of invination one does not refuse. She didn't mention that the celebration will include a delayed Solstice Dance, which is traditionally for couples. Telling me she again is trying to play matchmaker and set me up with someone."

"Oh." Jessa frowns slightly. "No. I think I am having enough elf troubles. Take her."

Valadhiel blushes a little, then grins at Mikilos, "Well... if it wouldn't put your aunt out too much, I'd be more than happy to come with you." She does look at Jessa for a moment, giving her a ' not helping!' look, before chuckling a bit under her breath at the situation.

Mikilos blinks, glancing to Jessa. "Oh, I wasn't asking you. Would need to be someone Aunt Marith thinks I'm truely intrested in to stop her meddeling, and you-" DANGER! DANGER! SELF-PRESERVATION OVERRIDE ENGAGED!! "...*ahem* You aren't nerdy." The wizards coughs, and glances to Val. Not to imply she -is- nerdy, but.... oh hells...

Jessa gives Val a 'don't care' look, bemused, then eyes Mikilos with slightly narrowed eyes. "You should /be/ so lucky. Vennan is."

Valadhiel looks wryly at Mikilos, "Just because I tend to live in a tent instead of an ivory tower doesn't mean I'm not nerdy." She reaches out and lightly pokes him in the arm, "But, I'll be glad to come with you, to keep you out of trouble if nothing else."

Mikilos whews softly, glad to get off respectively easy. "Vennan is indeed quite fortunate. How did it work out with his father, by the way?" He nods to Val. "I'm not sure the details of travel arrngements, but shall let you know when I do."

"I don't know. I think he hasn't figured out how to get out of his potential arranged marriage so he's avoiding me." Jessa's a little too casual in how she says that, as if it doesn't bother her either way. So breezy! Too breezy.

Valadhiel wrinkles her nose, "Arranged marriages... seems so static, honestly. I'd just prefer to meet someone that I found interesting."

Mikilos nods in agreement. "In political situations I can understand them, though I don't fully approve. Any case, I really should be off. Something of a project I'm working on and I've a narrow time window. I'll speak with you more later, but need to head off now. Fare well, ladies!"

"I think he's runnning away." Jessa seems almost disappointed as she watches after Mikilos, waving. "Seems to be the theme with me for the past few days."

Mikilos pauses, turns back, and gives Jessa a quick kiss on the top of her head before taking off again. Because really, who could leave a sad Jessa behind?
