  • Title: Kobolds: The Knight of the Black Rose
  • Emitter: Cryosanthia
  • Characters: Jinks, Seyardu, Aryia, Venom
  • Place: Wilderness road
  • Time: Sunday, November 07, 2021, 2:41 PM
  • Summary: The rescue party has decided to weaken the Kobold forces by ambushing the cavalier that is supporting them on the road. They set up a decoy carriage, engage the Knight of the Black Rose, but the battle does not go as expected. The Knight challenges and charges the wagon, only to be caught up in the razor-wire that crosses the road, with her retreat blocked by a deadfall. Aryia leaps in, punches the Swiftclaw, stunning it and while it drops to the ground the Black Rose Knight does not dismount. Seyardu enlarges herself and steps up to attack withher bill hooks. The cavalier orders the undead kobold troops to kill first Jinks and the Horse, and then surround and kill Seyardu. Jinks takes cover. Once the sling bullets stop, Venom pops out of her hiding place and starts blasting away. The Swiftclaw and the Knight focus on Aryia, who keeps punching the Swift Claw, much to the Knight's fury. Finally the beast is put down, and the Black Knight yells at Aryia for fighting dishonourably, and then Venom blows her head off. It turns out that the Black Rose Knight and her Swiftclaw were a single beast, a voiuvre, which disgorges an egg in her death throes. Aryis destroys the rest of the Kobold troops and they ponder their next steps.

The plan has been decided upon, set a trap to ambush the Sith'Knight and weaken the main forces of the Kobolds to assist the rebels and rescue the two remaining adventurers. Some regime change may be collateral damage in that.

The party has gathered along the road, near where the Black Rose knight is known to appear.

A few things need to be decided. How will Loci, Nanjusha and Endril help, if all. What traps should be set, and how will the ambush go.

The wagon rattles and clacks down the forest road, squeaking mild complaint whenever the wheels find a particularly pronounced divot or trench. The Lucht driver is red-haired and freckled with furry, bare feet (did you say bear feet?) propped up against the top of the footwell, toes waggling in the chilld air. A prodigious gap in his teeth coupled with the press of his tongue produces a piercing, offkey whistle to brighten the ride. Unless you're a music lover. A floppy hat wards off the sunlight and a bow sits across his lap. His clothing is loose, brown, and well-worn.

A hapless driver out on a delivery. Though if the wicked sith-makar knight believes his eyes he's in for a... ruse awakening.

The halfling twists in his bench seat, glancing back the way they came to make sure Endril remains out of sight. The extra sword would be handy, surely, but Incogjinkso wasn't ready to trust him facing what is no doubt a nightmare from his immediate past.

Aryia is present, her in a black cloak and a black half-face mask, gloves too. She's up on the ridgeline, hiding behind a rock with her eyes affixed ahead on the road. A rope is in her other hand, tied off to a simple trap. It's a long rope, affixed to a junction that houses a thin, sharp wire that blends in with the ground. Across the way to her left is a set of boulders precariously positioned to tip over once a log was yanked out of place.

She presses herself against the ridge, watching as the bait comes up.

It was a moment where Seyardu was thankful for her forced disguise, as the browned and tarnishes scales made them appear different enough to provide some manner of disguise. and the heavy hood and cloak they wore provided further cover. She had use magic before hand to negate the smell and spare Jinks the unpleasant ride. The time was coming for their plan, and it would be time to put it into action, but she could not help but feel a bit nervous. She would have to trust that the area was prepared properly for their arrival.

The decoy wagon rolls along the road, driven by Jinks. Loaded with barrels, bolts of cloth, crates, things small and even regular sized adventurers might hide in and pop out from at any moment. The springs creak with the weight as it bounces along.

Local kobold guide, Loci, and the Ranger Najusha have been sent off to cause havock and delays elsewhere. A little hit-and-run, some confusing instructions, and generally tieing up any reinforcements that might come if called. They won't, now.

Endril trails the wagon, acting as rear-guard. The gnome suggested he hang back, unwilling to throw him directly into conflict. He also has a long standing policy of not sitting beside anyone he's eaten. That... meal remains an unbroached topic between the two.

This section of the road is relatively straight, between dense forests with a cliff on one side and possible swamp or marshy locations on the other. It gets tight. There are lots of ambush locations and few spaces to maneuver, let alone escape into.

Exactly where a Bandit Knight might appear, or a reverse ambush might spring.

Crouched down in that underbrush is what looks like shadows at first. A closer examination, and a familiarity with kobolds, confirms the shadows are the little lizards. Their camouflage is exceptional, all seem to be mid-molt with tiny flaps of skin and scale breaking up their silhouette. They are not moving.

It's afternoon, the sun is a bit to the west. The mul'niessa waits ahead on the road, holding in one hand a lever to bring up the razorwire that is stretched across the road. In the other, a rope to pull out the support that is stopping piles of boulders tumbling onto the road.

Aryia's breath is stilled, her squinting in the sun behind her shakes to see as much as possible. Though, her gaze flicks down, and... holy shit! Is this an ambush? Reverse ambush? Or an ambush for the ambush? Thinking quickly, the mute gulps and holds the rope for the rocks in her teeth, her fishing out her comapass and using the flat side to reflect the sun into the eyes of both Jinks and Seyardu. Maybe... this could work? Flash, flashflashflash, flash, flashflashflash.

"Danger." <Hand.. speech?>

She stashes the keepsake and holds both ropes. Fuck this was going to be insane...

Seyardu raises a hand as the light flashes into her eyes, and she squints before she realizes it is not from a natural source.

"Stop the cart, something is amiss on the road." She states, taking a look around, and preparing to disembark the carriage.

Down the road, right down the road, there is a small explosion of dead leaves as a Swiftclaw and rider push through the brush and step onto the road.

'Rraaaawwwwr!' The swiftclaw announces itself. It is a beautiful and well cared for beast, predominantly emerald in scale, though many are a darker verdant or actually black, especially around the eyes. It has well kept barding and baldric.

The rider is completely ironclad, holding a large tower shield. The plate is a vibrant green, perhaps living steel, and exagerated. The Makari do not require quite the suggestive dome on the chest, and clearly the rider is one, with armoured tail and a helm to fit a reptilian face. Emblazed on the front of shield and breastplate is a large black rose.

"No. Approach. I will say when to stop." The rider shouts, "I am Chalchihuitlcue, Knight of the Rose. You will come closer and surrender that which is mine."

She, presumably she from build and voice, holds a lance pointed skyward as the swiftclaw paws at the road and takes a few steps forward. "Hold Chimalma," she orders her mount.

The cart rolls to a stop, as the gnome driver obeys Seyardu. It gets a little further down the road, not more than a horse length.

Aryia sighs in relief as Seyardu gets the message, her attention flitting between the line of dead kobolds, and looking out for-

Her eyes widen. The elf gulps, a sweat forming on her brow as her body trembles. Fuck, they're way more intimidating than Aryia remembers. The grip on both ropes tighten. Come on, you piece of shit... charge them... come on...

Seyardu does not give motion for the carriage to move, but she stays on the vehicle, offering the knight a wave.

"Hail, Chalchihuitlcue, peace on your nest." She greets, not letting the wariness show. "You will forgive me for doing so, but these roads are dangerous of late, and, you are stating to surrender what is yours. We have nothing of the sort, but if you are in need of anything, we can speak of such." She shouts back.

A hissing noise from the rider causes the Swiftclaw to stalk forward at a casual walk.

The rider adjusts her shield, her fingers moving in an arcane fashion.

"That's a charm spell," Jinks tells Seyardu, sitting to his side, followed by, "at me!"

The rider points at the gnome. "Advance." He sits where he is. Chalchihuitlcue lowers her lance, points it directly at the small man's chest. "Advance or I will speak to you on the end of my lance. On my honour you will be spared if you comply. Disobey and die."

"I'm going to move us closer," Jinks shudders, his hands shaking. It's as if she knew where his injury was, "we're still outside of her charge range, but only just."

"You bring tribute unless you'd like to argue it. This road is dangerous only to interlopers." The Black Rose Knight hisses, sounding quite pleased. The swiftclaw advances, step by step. "Do you wish to argue it?"

No movement on either side of the road.

Aryia is partially drenched underneath her attire, sweating so heavily from anxiety. Was this wire even strong enough to hold up to a charging swiftclaw? Oh shit that lance looks deadly. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

It is very fortunate Aryia does not have telepathy. Else everyone around would be hearing the full extent of the lovely internal anxieties and colorful language of the mute woman.

She's wound up like a spring, ready to pull. Come on...

"You are forcing us to advance by magic? In what way would that even begin to let us trust your word." Seyardu states, allowing a growl to creep into her voice. "I would like to argue it, as you are stating travellers are interlopers and forcing them to comply. What reason is there to trust you would spare us? You have already broken what honor you claim to have. And towards kin as well, how can you speak as you are?"

'Raawwrrrrr!' The swift claw roars.

"How dare you impugne my honour, you who have none!" Chalchihuitlcue raises her visor enough to show her scaled face, stare at Seyardu before slapping it back down.

"Chiamalma! Charge!" Lance lowered, she leans her weight forward and tucks the weapon into place.

The swiftclaw doesn't need to be told twice, it bursts into a dash towards the wagon.

Aryia blinks. Then grins. Yes! Goad them Sey!

Right when the Knight gives into rage, Aryia grabs the razer wire with both hands. Tenses.

Then she leaps to her feet and yanks back HARD.

A thin, metal wire explodes out from the muddy road and leaves, cutting through the hidden kobold line and going taut against a winch against the stone wall. It makes a 'twang!' sound as it goes ramrod solid.

The elf is shoved back as its ran into, then she throws the rope over a shoulder, and grits her teeth, using nothing more than physics and kobold inginuity to shove the rider off their steed.

She drops it as it goes slack, and whips the other rope. A cluster of boulders rumble down the ridge, scattering across the road to blockade a retreat.

The mute fist pumps, grinning wildly. It worked! Holy shit it worked!

Now was the test to see if the Black Rose wilts.

The sith'knight charges with a threatening hiss, point of her lance dropping to zero in on the silverscale. The rumble of rocks falling behind her may have been heard, but prompts no change.

Chimalma thunders along the road. Straight into the razor-wire trap. With a surprised cry that's shared by it's rider, it tumbled, tripped as the trap winds around one leg.

Jinks jumps to his feat, strumming his lute and launching into a sudden rendition of "That's my banana!". A greasy film coats swiftclaw and rider, and most importantly, the rider's saddle. <gnomish>

Somehow, the knight remains seated. It's as if she's bolted to the saddle. "Stand Chimalma! You will pay!"

They were down! Now they just had to... get rid of the mount. Ah. Shit. Aryia looks at the distance and gulps.

Well this was the most stupidest fucking thing she was about to do. The mute drops the ropes and takes a few steps back. Steels herself, and runs full speed off the cliff face, leaping into the air.

Her arms flail to keep herself upright, boots helping in that endeavor. She starts to fall... fall.. fall...

Legs wind up right before she lands.

>CRACK!<

Both heels slam right into the flailing head, the shock of the fall going up her bones and rattling her before she gets back to her feet solidly and brings her fists up. Quick gestures, crude, loud gestures. "LET'S GO FUCK FACE!XN" <Handspeech>

Her soul was on FIRE!

"How can you even stand there, claim to have honor, and be offended when someone suggests otherwise?" Seyardu growls, pulling the billhook leaned next to her into her hand as she steps off the carriage. "You are delusional, and a blight upon this land."

She sprints closer, pulling out her holy symbol and brandishing it, empowering the small group with a familiar divine alacrity as they pile onto the fallen knight.

Knight and rider roll on the ground, tails thrashing and kicking up dirt. They don't try to stand, just yet. The sith'knight whips her lance around, perfectly placing it between the mul'niessa's legs and flipping her onto her face. She eats dirt.

It's time to scrabble in the mud.

The swiftclaw lashes out, teeth catching the boxer, tearing her clothes as it attempts to drag her close enough it can claw. That's a good thing, right?

"Kill the driver and the horse!" The knight orders, helmeted head whipping around to look at the roadsides, "Slings!"

"Ohshite!" Jinks shouts, hopping off the frontboard and diving under the wagon. He flattens into the shadows, but still can be heard singing.

"Oh I had a very nice lolipop banana!"

As if one, all the kobolds on either side of the road act in union.

It is an eerie sight. In silence, they draw slings, load a sling bullet and spin it. Five times. Exactly. All at the same time. No hissing, no jostling, no slip ups. They have achieved a perfection, of sorts. Even if they move a little slow.

Two lines of sling bullets rain down on the wagon, road and horse. The driver's seat rattles as many of the lead spheres embed in the wood.

The horse drops instantly.

Aryia gets front flipped into the mud, her quickly scrabbling around as teeth sink into her leg. She rolls, pant leg tearing away to free her. Her adrenaline was too high right now to think about how annoying that was going to be to fix later.

The cleric's blessing of alacrity gets her to kip up to her feet with celerity, her teeth gritted as she tries to hammer into one side of the swiftclaw. Have to kill this thing! Have to kill this thing! Rid the mount, the rider is useless!

Knowing how mounted knights work from her friend Paenitia and handsome Rameriez, she goes for a hard hit on the first punch down, but its actually the follow up knee-kne into a nerve in the neck that held the true show stopping strike.

Her eyes are blazing as she rears back. There's more where that came from, and this mul'neissa felt alive.

Seyardu squints when she sees a hail of stones go out to the carriage, and the horse is brought down. She growls and holds up the holy symbol again, this time emanating a wave of positive energy towards the bushes where it seemed to come from. There was nothing she could do now, other than send them on their way. And with that, her anger grew, alongside her form. The silver sith-makar towers over the knight, and her billhook is held in their direction.

There's a >CracK< and a sudden hiss as Chimalma is punched underneath the eye. The swiftclaw spasms, legs twitching.

Chalchihuitlcue flails about as well, her shield banging the side of her mount. Her lance scraps through the dirt of the road.

Aside from a hissing, she says nothing.

Several of the kobold corpses stiffen and straighten as the holy energy washes over them. Their fellow undead soldiers do nothing until the burst passes.

With no new orders, they repeat the previous one. The gnome still lives. Slings are loaded, spun, and two trails of bullets rain down on the space.

"Tallmen, it's hard to play with such a hostile audience!" The gnome sings a short set of scales, how appropriate, and uses the horse and wagon as cover.

She manages to raise her shield as Seyardu swings the bill hook at her again. The previous strikes made her armour ring loudly, but the shield catches an attack. Finally. "Better. Yesss. Attack me."

Her swiftclaw powers and whips its tail, leaping back to it's feet with a similar, if much louder, lizard hiss.

Aryia gasps in pain as her leg is bitten, her flailing her arms to keep her footing. A deft smack on the nose affords just enough leverage to twist free, her exposed leg having a lovely set of bite wounds that oozed ichor down her leg.

The angry shout to attack the rider goes ignored. Unlike them, Aryia had no honor. She's one to throw sand in face, to between the legs, to gouge eyes.

Which is what she does. Go for the eyes, Boo.

Focus. Swim in the ocean, glide through it. Let the pool fill every vein and bone. She could do this. It burns.

"D-e, D-e,, D-e,, D-e, D-e!" she hisses loudly. <Kulthian, Sildanyari, Undercommon, Celestial, Tradespeak>

Seyardu feels her legs being stabbed, the divine energy from before blunting the blows somewhat, at least. but not she was surrounded by undead koboolds, and she growls, holding the holy symbol to unweave more of the energy from the mass of bodies surrounding her. There would be time for mourning and rites later, for now, the important thing was to make sure it would not happen again. "Is this what you refer to as honor?" She snarls at the knight. "I am surprised you do not fall with the undead you raise, with how black your heart is."

Finally!

Sometimes, going the extra mile for subterfuge works against you.

Like, when you're hiding place gets blocked off by something when the wagon gets jostled.

As a barrel rocks enough out of the way, a shrouded black figure emerges, pulling a longarm from within the folds it it's tenebrous outline.

THe veiled head scans the fray as she continues to skulk to a better vantage point to assist Aryia and Seyardu, paradoxically tucking the enigmatic one under a rat king of rotting kobold tails.

Well, the buzzing <KZZZZZZ-THOOM!> probably let them know the new presence wasn't a cloud of moltings, as Venom puts a round into the Swiftclaw, but the eyes of the rider catching her keeps her from being able to more precisely target the beast's vitals.

In a flah, with a chk-chack-rattle, the shrouded one has reloaded as is ready to engage once more.

'Rawwrrrk' Her swiftclaw snarls.

"Finish the elf Chimalma!" She hisses, and the Swiftclaw turns on Aryia. It snaps again, another deep bite, another moment where teeth are too sharp and pull free as it whips its head to drag her closer.

The Mul'niessa is at just the right distance for the knight. With another growl that echoes from the closed helm, the Black Rose cavalier stabs at Aryia, stabs again. Piercing injuries that open cuts on her arms, "Stay off my mount!"

With empty, hollow, white eyes, they stab. At Venom, at Seyardu, a synchronized motion. Perfect, precise troops. The only way to get worthwhile kobold ones.

Just as the fight was starting to go back to its potential tide change, a veiled enigma arrives on scene. Across the way, past the swiftclaw and the Blackrose, over the kobolds, Aryia's blazing eyes reflect the smoking Thunderbelcher. She was thinking of fleeing. But now...

This wilted rose would not touch her night blossom.

The elf's side is torn into, she's skewered in the arm, then the hip by a lance. But the north star does not fall, does not run. She grinds her heels into the mud, and stays.

Please let this work.

She tries to yank the rider off, getting them off kilter by yanking the lance towards her, spinning on the spot, but she couldn't budge them.

She goes for a palm strike at the swiftclaw's neck. It doesn't falter them.

Snarling, at the last of her rope, she glares up at the Black Rose, and bashes her skull against the weak point she's been hammering at on the swiftclaw with a solid >CRACK!<. Finally dropping it.

She looks up at the rider, weary on her feet. Dread building in her gut. The star must not go out. The shetar must not go out.

<OOC> Aryia says, "HOLY SHIT"

Oilcloth and sheer veaves are wonderful for shielding anonymity, even warding against the weather, but sling stones and other such things....?

Less so.

Pelted relentlessly by the undead little bastards, Venom makes an odd, almost circular sidesteap, as her non-trigger hand vanishes briefly beneath the folds of frayed, coal grey cloth. It emerges anew with abottle of water that she puts upside one particularly fresh looking kobold's coconut, dousing him and his immediate fellows with blessed waters, prompting some sizzling.

She continues her maneuver, bringing the Thunderbelcher across and up to her presumed eyeline...

Something angry lines up along those sights as the hammer comes back.

The North Star....

KZZZZ-THOOM!

There is a >SPANG!< of breaching steel as the morbid round punches the helm...

Chk-chak-clk-clk-clk-KZZZZZZTHOOM!

With the subtle ozone tang in the air, Venom holds the barrel in line with the new hole she'd bored through the rider.

The North Star still shines bright...

Chimalma, the swiftclaw drops into the dirt, skull cracked with its eyes rolling back. Tongue lolling, it drools, dispatched.

"What? You absolute dishonourable bastards! That's not how it's supposed to go, attacking a helpless beast that never hurt anyone!" Chalchihuitlcue screams, despite obvious evidence to the contrary, like the mul'niessa's many wounds.

It's understandable that a cavalier would be incensed by the death of her mount. She stands to challenge...

No...

She stands but she's attached to the saddle. Not by bolts or wires, but a thick, almost snake-like body. As if she was a nagag, and her saddle was simply being wrapped around the mid-section of the Swift Claw.

Except...

It isn't a swift-claw. It's... a green dragon? The front half of a green dragon.

Attached by a long, snake like tail, to sith'makar in metal armour that seems to be melting away... into emerald scales. The same scales as the dragon. A vibrant emerald.

Her helmet seems real enough, as it the shield, but the rest of the armour is... simply part of her body. Legs, makari tail, all part of an illusion. She screams, "You're absolutely infuriating! I'll..."

Her helment and head is blown off by Venom. The... tail section? Whatever the secondary torso and head might be called flops on the ground like felled deadwood.

The body twitches, and a large egg appears in the 'dragon's' mouth, rolling free.

The Black Rose falls. Blocking the view of the mul'neissa. Did she get skewered, to be pinned against the ground? No.

Doing a flip over the body of the swift claw was a bleeding mul'neissa, her clothes rent and torn, as was her limbs from the swift claw. She lands in the center of the fray, rises to her full short height, and domes a kobold.

Undead kobolds make better soldiers than live kobolds, but that doesn't mean they're very good, or tough, only better at fighting to the death. The don't make good weapons, despite the mul'niessa's determination to use them as one.

One is grabbed by the tail, and they're spun around, crashing them into other kobolds. Some are kicked and flung into the air. Others are thrown. Spears are picked up and jabbed blunt end through whatever could reach.

Her makeshift kobold mallet comes apart, as do the kobolds she's hitting with it. The flurry of her fury leaves them all disabled and dismembered in a large area surrounding the road.

She kicks one last one aside. Staggers a bit, then falls against Venom. Bloodying her outfit.

She smiles weakly up at her.

"... thanks V..." she motions. <Handspeech>

Venom endures the resolute scratching, poking and bashing the corpsebolds unleash upon her and Seyardu, coming through the Booting Star's intervention in raiment more tattered and blood soaked than it had been, before.

It may come that she just replace her getup at this point.

She is bringing her line of focus about, pulling another projectile from her belt as Aryia rains oblivion upon the wrongfully animated kobolds with a vengeful wrath that beggars the falling skies.

Then collapses against her.

The silent figure's arms hastily enfold the wilting Mul'nessa like a trap, a soft 'ping!' as the steel cyllinder falls from her fingers, abandoned to that effect...

Head bowed, a soft, faint note ruffles the ragged veils over those ivory tresses before the veiled countenance lifts toward their friend, Seyardu, but she is effectively muted by the supporting situation.

GAME: Jinks rolls Knowledge/Dungeoneering: (11)+12: 23

Jinks finally emerges out from under the wagon, muddied and bloodied. He's surrendered the Lucht disguise and his fine clothes are in need of a good washing. The gnome sniffs, drawing the back of a fist across his nose and smearing blood through his white goatee.

"It's the birthing egg of a Vouivre, kin to wicked, blackhearted fae. The twisted conjunction of wyrm and siren." He winces, blinks, and surveys the battlefield. "The spawn will seek to eat sapient creatures upon hatching... best to smash it now. Scramble the yolk."

Seyardu looks to Venom for a split second before Aryia decimates the last of the kobolds. She sighs, and reaches to offer a prayer for them. "Celestial mother, mend this one's wounds." she prays, placing a hand on the mul'niessa.

She then turns to look at the egg, and at Jinks. "It seems that it was a disguise of some sort. Are you, certain, Jinks? That no good can come from the egg? It seems the adult was dangerous, and if it is some manner of monster, then that may be what has to be done. And we still need to burn these bodies."

GAME: Seyardu rolls 4d8+9: (21)+9: 30
<OOC> Seyardu says, "45 points of healing"
GAME: Seyardu casts Spiritual Ally. Caster Level: 9 DC: 18

Aryia drink in the embrace for a long moment, shuddering for a moment as the adrenaline still courses through her. She pulls away, leaving behind some moonlight on the oilcloths. She weakly chuckles, wiping her hand across the light to rid it.

A large sigh of relief escapes her as the bleeding stops from Sey's help, she smile ups at her. "Thank you," she motions, patting the silver-brownscale on the shoudler before walking over to the egg languidly.

She rises a foot over it, and looks to the others for approval with a raised, tired brow. <Handspeech>

There are a lot of bodies, and almost as many questions.

The slain cavalier and mount are definitely the ones seen earlier, at least, they were until the illusion was dropped and a head blown off. The current appearance of it, them, her is very monstrous, and dangerous.

The gnome may be right.

The kobolds are all undead. Most seem to have originally been garter kobolds, Loci's friends, but some have scales of another colour. Several tribes lost members to create these two units.

Jinks sighs, shaking his head and raising the bow in a loose grip to point with it at the egg. "I've never seen one before. Didn't recognize it until the death throes. Just songs. Stories. A wyrm with a nubile, naked woman at its back half. Meant to lure groin-thinking creatures into its lair for supper.

"Can you take the egg and raise it nice? Make good a wicked thing?" The gnome shrugs, tired and hurt as he looks across the field of battle at Seyardu. "Stranger things have happened? ... but it's unlikely.

A pause. "A month and a half before it hatches? Then a half-score years to wean a monster of its base nature." The gnome rounds the wagon wheel and slides down into a seated position. "Academically? Ruin the egg. Smash the unborn thing and spare the world its vile instincts." He rests his head back and looks over at the silver sith, "Practically? I defer..."

Venom doesn't pay her illumination any special heed, as she helps Aryia regain her feet in the wake of Seyardu's healing Grace.

Her empty hand reaches out to gently knuckle bump against the silver/brownscale's arm, then her attention twists her back toward the sound of the Gnome's advisory.

A stillness to go with her silence, then the shrouded one turns back to regard the egg.

The hand then curls over Aryia's shoulder for a moment before she signs, "I can do it if it needs to be done." <handspeech>

Offer made, she looks between her colleagues for the concensus, as yet not moving to retrieve her fallen ammunition.

Endril jogs up with a rhythmic clank of armour. He rounds the wagon, pausing when he seems the dead kobolds. They make him hesitate more than the slain knight, or Wyrm-woman. "I saw."

"That's... that's something else. Explains why the SwiftClaw was so damn smart when I fought them." He hangs back, behind Jinks and Venom, shrugging if his opinion seems sought. "Your call, that's... yeah."

A something.

Aryia squints at Jinks and tilts her head to the side, then to Seyardu. "Rather end this here, than deal with dumb shit later."

She looks to Venom, to the hand on her shoulder, then lowers her foot.

She walks over to the fallen ammo, picks it up, then hands it over to Venom.

That's her vote. <Handspeech>

"If there is no rush, we could take it to the druids to speak to them." Seyardu suggests, while she is already gathering up the undead bodies, her snout blocked with one hand. "But, it may be how it is, in which case, ending it soon would be best."

"And the creature did, or was an assisting these horrible actions."

Jinks closes his eyes and gives a heavy sigh. He wants to argue but he won't. A small, kobold girl, sweet and flourishing given the opportunity. A demon in disguise as trapped and devoted in affections as any mortal. His bias-- the things he's heard and read-- didn't matter. "Alright," he concedes, using the the bow as a staff to push himself back up.

"We can get it in the wagon. Get it back to the Circle." He tosses the bow into the back of the wagon, tugs down the bottom of his coat. "Best not to tell the Temples. They're feeling... intractable."

"Think..." Endril says hesitantly, "think you could get some concessions out of the kobolds with it? Might be like a god to them. Speaking of temples."

"And yeah, best not to advertize it until you're sure what to do with it."

Venom accepts the cool steel projectile with a nod, her fingers curling shut around it like a flower after sunset. Her hands come together, twisting the spiralled octagonal weapon open and slipping the ammution into the chamber, then locks it together once more.

She looks to Aryia for a moment, to Jinks, then Seyardu as they discuss the finer points before her free hand signs, "If you want to wait." <handspeech>

That said, the silent one casts a lingering look to the Mul'niessa, before moving to help secure the egg.

Aryia scowls heavily at Endril. "What? No. Don't need to shove false idols into their head. That's fucked, man"

She looks to Jinks, to Seyardu. Then to Venom. She pinches the bridge of her nose.

The Charn born was not one to show mercy.

She relents, and backs off. <Handspeech>

"Well, she did suggest they eat me, so you're right. Not a good thing for them." The human warrior relents and concedes.

Seyardu looks up, and shakes her head. "No." She says flatly. "If that was done, all that would happen is another grows up to kill more and take it's place. They need to be lead back to less evil methods, not indulged in what they do now."

"We can seek out druids that are trusted, such as shaman Un'eth, perhaps. I trust her judgement, and she has much experience with the natural world."

The shrouded one doesn't see fit to divert her hands from their task with intent for rebuttal. From beneath her poncho emerges another wad of oilcloth, this closer to a natural, if slightly stained hue, and she fashions something of a stable nest to settle the ovoid object in, further supported with some trickery with ropes that she pulls out of.... somewhere probably dark.

With the Thunderbelcher returned to it's place, and the egg nestled as well as she can manage, she drifts toward the source of her light.

Aryia puts her hands on her hips, and frowns, looking at the dead horse. She sighs, fiddles with some leather cords on her back, then rolls her shoulders. "I'll carry the damn cart..." she gestures tiredly. Thankfully, Venom was drawing near, so her exhaustion nearly vanished. The elf pulls straps off the fallen horse, affxies them over both shoulders, and motions with one hand. "If I hear one fucking horse pun I swear..."

She looks back to the multitude of bullet holes, then to the horse. She hisses through her teeth and gestures sharply.

"FUCK! OUR DEPOSIT!" <Handspeech>

Jinks just stands next to Aryia, smacking at her hip and taking up a tether and others secure the egg. He has an uneasy feeling and doubts roil but he swallows the second-guesses. The gnome scratches at his chest and sighs, closing his eyes. A ripple overtakes his form, replacing the dirtied adventuring gear with comfortable traveling clothes; ginger-colored leathers trimmed in moss. The coyote's head mask glitters in the sun, snout pointing at the cyan sky.

"If they say we can't succeed?" The gnome offers the mul-blood, rhetorically. "We say 'neigh,'" and he sets to pull the cart with her.
