Greenery pt 2

When last we left our brave, noble heroes, they had become faced with horrible bugs of a mossy persuasion. Skitter down the trees like some sort of grand network, with threads of spongy moss between them, they flow towrads.

Of course, this is what you get paid for. A representative of the Empress' will and in fact one of the Sith who helps to ensure the operation of the treaty between Alexandria and the Empress' tribal confederatio runs smoothly, had told you of an attack by odd plant-basded creatures in the jungle. The plant creatures had been driven back by the Sith and destroyed, and indeed, the pile of foliage you saw while you were investigating is all that remains of the moss monster. During the information exchange, you had spoken of strange coins that had been located near previous attacks in addition to the mossy stones that been showing up more recently.

Your hope was to find such a coin /here/, though one has not been located so far.

Either way, you have bigger (smaller?) problems right now. Bugs. Lots of them.

GAME: Whirlpool damaged you for -100 points. 47 HP remaining.

Round One - Init 17.

It is now Bors' turn! PLANTBUGS is next!

Zant was GOING to search and looksie, see.

But then Bugs. SO MANY BUGS. THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE.

"Uuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh guyyyyyys?" the young man chimes out, and raaapidly backs away, until he's... behind Garak and Fazahd, of all things. "PROBLEM. I don't, uh..." He looks back and forth between the two people he THINKS are casters. Of some sort. "...suppose either of you can summon an ocean of fire or acid or whatever? Anything?"

Bors backs slowly away from the bugs. Nothing he can do will stop that mass of bugs, so he takes the /other/ choice. He that turns and runs away lives to fight another day. Or so he's been told. Looks like now's the time to put that theory to the test.

Selia acks as the bug swarm advances, and draws her blade, the magical metal misting in the humid air as the icy blade condenses the humidity. Slashing at the goo, chunky bit go still and cold, but not enough to stop the mass. An annoyed mass, apparently.

Round Two - Init 25.

It is now Selia's turn! Zant is next!

Bors has partially disconnected.

Garak flings up a hand and then drops it. At the same rate a column of fire descends, boring a hole through the tree cover, engulfing a section of the mossy swarm and where it reaches the ground, incinerating an uneven circle of vegetation. Garak raises his other hand and suddenly a gleaming lance appears, which he drops into his second hand, ready to wield it against the swarm if it comes closer.

Not far from the treeline to the right, a hissing sound sparks into a great cone of blue-white flame; Fazahd is responsible for this, spewing the flames from nozzles built into the gauntlet of his right hand. His red armor splashed with the black muck of the swamp, the Enginebreaker makes his appearance with flames from one hand and a gleaming black sword in the other.

GAME: Selia rolls fort: (16)+8: 24

Selia acks again as the bugs start to get burned. The little lady is way more a chill sort of person, and back away swiftly, getting away not only from the flames, but the bugs as a whole. Though those bugs bites look painful.

Bors sees now that these critters can be hurt, if you can sweep away enough of them. Well, he can do that, anyhow, a kukri in each hand, slashing through the mass of bugs, killing some, tumbling others around without much effect. He does the best he can while mumbling darkly. The kukri blades flicker and slash quietly as they whisk through the bugs.

Kisaiya stands next to the swarm of bugs as they skitter about, but at least it's not a swarm of cats! She grimaces, her scythe whipping about after her first hit and she takes a swi-i-i- she falters, "Wait, is that Friend Spider?!" She says looking into the swam but it quickly disappears and Kisa shakes her head. She must be seeing things! There's no way.

Kisa slices at the swarm, her scythe cutting through the but doing very little on the whole. It is, after all, quite the swarm of bugs that they're attacking.

Garak takes one hand off of his lance long enough to place it over his holy symbol. Then he raises that hand and a shimmering lance appears above Bors, stabbing at the thickest concentration of creatures Garak can see.

Bors finds himself moving more slowly, but unlike many, he doesn't bother with speed when cutting, he uses pure power, and he cuts as hard as he can as he slashes into the masses of bugs, cutting while he still can, standing fatalistically, feet planted as his knives slash and cut. Cutting deeply, cutting through masses of bugs with each hard sweep of his blades, gritting his teeth as the poison works its way through his system.

GAME: Whirlpool rolls 3d6: (12): 12

Flowing over Bors, now the bugs, though their numbers have been thinned by fire, are flowing towards Garak and Fazahd. It's teh fire, see. They don't seem to like it.

The sith that is Tiasa roars out, "Hates bugs." and then she starts to change. Her skin rupples and alters as she goes from being a big sith to being a large Monitor lizard as she drops to all fours. The upper torso of the large lizard is just like Tiasa's breastplate, dark swirling storm clouds crackling with electricity. She stomps a large claw as her muscles swell even more as she calls on the rage in her body.

Round Three - Init 8.

It is now Fazahd's turn! Selia is next!

Kisaiya continues her movements around, her scythe whipping down as she cuts into the cuts once more. She sweeps it using her hip to throw the shot, the movement of her very being to swing it, instead of relying on straight up muscle. She brings the scythe back around, the blade arching down and at the last second she jerks it forcibly upward. WAIT! No! It couldn't be! That looked exactly like friend spider! That makes no sense though.

"You... You! But you're not supposed to be /alive/." But even as she says that it skitters back into the mass of bugs and she loses sight of it. These damn bugs knew exactly how to throw her off her game from the looks of it.

Garak leans in and tries to stab his lance through the swarm. Somehow they evade his strikes and he digs up divots of the earth below them. His glowing spiritual weapon has more luck, again stabbing into a thick knot of vermin.

Inside the cloud of stinging insects, Fazahd twirls about, his black sword flashing through the air as he does so - and in its path, a wake of dead insects scatters about the floor. The swarm grows ever thinner, and though their stingers burn, the venom they deliver cannot find purchase.

Kisaiya twirls the scythe and brings it back around in a rather expert swing that slips along a perfect arc. If this was anything other than this creature, it wouldn't be hard to imagine it cutting deeply into the vital areas of a creature. Instead, it simply parts the swarm where she rips the blade through. A twist at the end and she brings the scythe back about, this time only skimming over the top of them. She hopes, deep down, that Friend Spider isn't really in that mix and that she didn't just accidentally cut him in two.

I don't recognize "Wc".

No one to page.

Whistling through the buzzing fog, Fazahd's swordsmanship is strange, but his blade is incredibly effective; whatever edge it has, the bugs seem to not just fall apart, they also seem to partially turn to dust even as they come into the slightest contact with the sword. After a moment more, there is no more swarm, just dead bugs and slime and ashes.

"Sorry I'm late," the Inquisitor says, his armor actively shedding blood and guts from its surface in a horrible wave, cleaning itself of filth through some unknown mechanism. "Here to help."

Kisaiya gives a whip of the blade to clean it free of the ichor left behind of the insects. She grabs a large leaf and uses that to sweep it the rest of the way before putting the scythe back away. It seems after after all, and she glances back toward the others. A smile and a shrug, "Someone wanna try and figure out where they're coming from? Might be able to find one of those coins or at least stop another - bug or otherwise - from forming. By the way, who knew we were headed out here? This seemed kinda trap-ish."

Kisaiya turns away and starts looking around through the underbrush and on the trees. Clearly she's trying to find something...

Selia shrugs. "General sorta trap. Reckon left over from wotever was 'ere 'fore. But might be a coin 'er sumthing laying 'round."

Garak lets his glowing lance fade away and then also dismisses it's physical counterpart. He holds his hands up, fingers stretched out, then turns them over to look at the backs. A tiny tremor shakes them, but he clenches his fists and drops both hands to his sides. Then he looks at the others. "That...swam, it sapped strength and steadiness. "Right," Fazahd commands Garak, "Sit down. I cannot reverse its effects, but I can halt the poison's advance ethrough your system." Assuming he does as he is told, Fazahd produces from one of his many belt pouches a masterfully-designed collapsible healer's kit - and, with the skill of a puissant field surgeon, lances veins and applies poultices to the stung locations such that the swelling and horrible purpling of the wounds, as well as all the agony that comes with it, swiftly begin to recede. "There," he says, putting away his kit when done and snapping his visor back down, "That should do it." (repose for G)

Garak sits a little easier after Fazahd's treatment. Next time when he raises his hands, they don't shudder. He walks around and heals Selia and then Bors, using a more powerful blessing for the latter. The priest ends up close to the treed

Kisaiya start to meander about through the underbrush, she's moving this way and that and starts to creep along. Her feet moving up higher than they need to, planting a toe, then slowly sinking the rest of the foot. It's a careful step as she moves toward a tree stump a bit further into the jungle. She's focused on it, fully, as she finally comes to a stop near it. Crouching down, Kisaiya cants her head to the side and smiles widely. She raises her arms up high in a curved sort of aggressive way, like one might do to try to scare off a bear, but with the hands hanging more downward.

"Rar." She says gently.

Selia blinks slowly, eyeing Kisaiya. "....huh. Knew jungle life could drive ya mad, but always thought it took longer..."

Garak sits a little easier after Fazahd's treatment. Next time when he raises his hands, they don't shudder. He walks around and heals Selia and then Bors, using a more powerful blessing for the latter. The priest ends up close to the tree where he first spotted the moss and glances over it sourly. Then he looks again, finally reaching in and pulling out a coin. "Look - suddenly our troubles are rewarded." He turns the coin over, so others can see, offers it to any of the other party members if they want to take it. It bears the likeness and rune of Altima, the legendary witch queen of old Alexandria.

It's Sour Time indeed, for Fazahd shares Garak's frown as he looks at the coin in the priest's hand. "Oh, good," he says after a moment's cursing under his breath in Low Khazdul. "Because that's just what we need."
