  • Title: Graveyard Triage
  • Emitter: Verna
  • Characters: Verna, Aryia, Seyardu
  • Place: Soldier's Defense
  • Time: November 1st, 2021
  • Summary: Taking advantage of one of the few places to get healing in the City, Aryia and Seyardu hobble in with their respective injures. Verna is treating more mundane wounds, a welcome change of pace instead dealing with corpses all the time. Both mul and sith-makar are tended to, Aryia getting her bleeding gash on her side from an undead spider taking a chomp out of her. And Seyardu is told to rest, as her affliction of having her mind wounded was lower on the triage, despite the silverscale looking tarnished and like she crawled out of a grave. Which, she sort of did, in a way. Verna heads off to take care of others while the two chat idly. Speaking of advice being taken, some strange developments, and their personal relationships before concluding they need some rest before delving into anything deeper.

The Hospital has always been a place for treatment, unsurprisingly, though the temples generally see far more traffic. A few notable exceptions have occured in the past: one was the plague, where any and all shelters for triage were required; a disaster during said plague closed the Soldier's Defense and left it empty for quite some time; now it is more active than ever due to the temple restrictions.

Verna's presence is not unusual nor unwarranted, though her current role is somewhat less common. A lack of deceased needing care is a boon in the eyes of most, Mourners included. This leaves her tending those still living, such as a young boy with a splinted and stabilized arm. He is likely in pain, judging from his wails.

"The limb is immobilized. The pain will fade," she assures him. "For now, it is a reminder not to climb so high in trees with weak branches."

Another soul came into the hospital, seeking care. Such aid would certainly be sought at the temples, perhaps those of Althea, yet such restrictions allowed for no such visitations.

Coming in from the rainy day was a mud soaked and drenched mul'neissa, her flank covered in red, and her face a touch pale and pained. Her verdant jacket covering up what was obviously a large tear in the shirt, though her hand on the side was pressing it firmly. A mask covered her lower face, glowing eyes glancing about to find someone that wasn't busy. She spots Verna, and slowly limps her way over towards the familiar Mourner.

Soldier's Defence, early afternoon.

It was not a very common occurence that the silver sith-makar was the one in need of healing, and normally, she would visit the temple of Althea if that was needed. But due to the lock down of the temple district, that was not an option, and the next best option was the soldier's defence, where many had set up.

Seyardu came in, but it was hard to pick them out for many that did not know them, save for the general body shape and silver breastplate. Their silver scales were a dull brown, and peeling in numerous places, and they looked fairly exhausted when they poked their head into some of the medical tents.

Verna may have a less than stellar bedside manner, but she is correct. As well, there are others who may hold more pressing needs or are yet to be triaged. Thus she turns her attention towards the doorway as others enter.

Noting two entrants, neither of which appear healthy, she approaches. The one covered in presumably blood, first. "Please, sit down so you can be examined." Verna directs the masked mul to a nearby cot, aiding if allowed. Perhaps due to the mask, blood, or activity, she does not appear to recognize her until they reach said cot.

"Aryia?! Sit." The surprise and concern do not override her duties, however, and she glances back to the other entrant, perhaps now taking a longer look given that both entered nearly simultaneously. She gestures to another cot nearby. "You, as well. I will tend you both."

Smelling of rain, blood, and a tinge of decay of something dead, the mul'neissa nods and directs herself to a cot without any aid. "Hey..." Aryia waves weakly with her free hand once she's settles in. She doffs her jacket, trying to not leak all over the cot as her hand is pressed firmly into her side. A glance up spots Seyardu, her brows knitting as she almost doesn't reocgnize her. "... Seyardu? Is that you? Are you okay?" <Handspeech>

Seyardu nods to the other cleric, deferring to them in the moment. She was moving just fine despite her state, and sat down on the cot with her tail draping over the other side. "Thanksss, Verna." Seyardu replies, turning to Aryia after, and shrugging. "Yeah, it is this one. Sssure I will be fine." She states to the mul'niessa.

"You both appear all but prepared for the slab," Verna notes flatly after she doffs her hood to more easily look between the two. Noting that Seyardu may possibly appear worse than she feels, Verna turns to the one that is actively leaking.. or threatening to.

She takes a knee before Aryia, placing a hand on the mul's side her the one present, both as a precaution and to shift the hand and/or rent clothing aside to determine the severity. "Either your wound is necrotic, was inflicted by the nercotic, or you took a most unusual path to return," she notes to Aryia, adding to the sith-makar, "I will accept your gratitude when you are tended and recuperating, thus 'fine.'"

Aryia gives Seyardu a weird look. "... are you drunk? Your accent is hitting pretty hard."

A sigh leaves her as she pulls her hand away and lifts the side of her shirt up. Ignoring the swath of scars that litter her, there's a lovely section of her side that has been gnawed on, a few layers of skin missing. A good foot and a half of her side was like this, and any more would certainly have hit bone. Her face twists in pain at the movements, her even having little bite marks all around her body, arms and face. "Fought a zombie spider. Bit me hard. Had little spiders trying to bite me. I think it had some disease or infection thing. Not sure. I feel fine, I don't get sick really at all," she elaborates.

She taps on her mask and adds, "Hence this." <Handspeech>

The not-so-silver sith-makar shrugged again, this time to Verna. "Yeah, thisss one likely looksss like a freshly dug up corpsssse, which isss ssstill ssstrange, that people here do that. But I wasss jusst dug out of the ground, not dead, however. I know one who looksss like thisss, or more ssso, and they are fine."

"Long ssstory, dead druid that did not wissssh to passss on. You are okay, Aryia? That looksss pretty bad."

"She will live," Verna notes with confidence. She then beseeches her Mistress as much, magic flowing to knit the majority of the wound. Not all, most likely, yet enough to diminish pain and, primarily, firmly plug any leaks and/or openings that should not be. A judicious use, as some might otherwise expect a nigh endless font of life from clergy.

Once she is satisfied, she rises and turns to Seyardu. "I trust that it was hastened to its proper place in my Mistress' Hall, then; those that fight or are trapped against the proper cycle should be pitied only that they are sent swiftly on their way." She studies Seyardu astutely, then. "You may be less ...fine if and when scales, or larger pieces, begin to rot and fall off."

Aryia begins to answer Seyardu. "Out the ground? What the fuck...? I'll be fine... it just hurts like a bi-" The signing hand is cut off as it suddenly freezes and curls in the air, Aryia gritting her teeth as flesh and sinew knit themselves together. Leaking stopped, that's the most important thing. But the experience makes Aryia sag, a light sweat crossing her brow as she leans back to rest on the cot. "... fuck," she languidly motions. "Never can get used to that..."

She merely watches the Mourner take care of the Tarnished-scale via a set of twenty questions. <Handspeech>

"Sssshould sssay ssssomething before usssing any magic." Seyardu chuffs before the attention is turned to her. "Sssshe is gone to the death ssssinging dragon, now. But buried me in a grave before departing." She adds to ARyua's question. "You alright now? I will be fine, like I sssaid, it iss not as bad as othersss thisss one has sssseeen. A good time to heal and thisss one will be fine."

It is Verna's duty, currently, to tend to those here in need of care. Regardless of her manner of such, there is also concern beyond this... and yet she believes that Seyardu is informed enough to make her own decisions. "You will recover in time, yes. If that is all you wish administered, and your condition does not worsen, then I will not act any further."

Their combined comments concerning Aryia's treatment cause her lips to purse. "I admit that I am not as ...gentle, nor as practiced, as the Altheans. Those in my care are typically far more quiet. No discomfort nor offense was intended."

Aryia waves off the apology, an arm slung over her sensitive eyes to stave off the lights in the hospital. "It's fine. A nap and I'll feel much better. Thank you Verna. I appreciate it."

Though, one could see her snowy brows knit. "Seyardu. Can you, like, be concerned for yourself for once? You look like shit." <Handspeech>

Seyardu shook her head again at the comment. "I am aware that I look awful, which is quite unfortunate. Perhaps there are resssstorative magicsss that may help, which is what I came here for, but if people are coming in with bites to their ssstomachss from giant beassstsss, then I am okay recovering normally."

Then, she sighs. "That being sssaid, I would like to look better again, for othersss."

"One did," Verna reminds unecessarily to Seyardu, complete with gloved gesture to Aryia. "She is tended. Now you are able to receive treatment. Rest assured that triage remains a process and priority. There are restorative magics that will help, and I shall do so. With," she promptly notes, "ample stores in reserve for any additional cases of giant spider bites or premature burial that arrive. Please continue to take your prescribed rest while I gather the necessary materials." She then moves off to do so.

There is a groan that comes from Aryia that sounds like a growl at the back of the throat. "I wasn't talking about your appearance, Seyardu. I meant your health. Getting you up to speed is worth it because that means you can help more people in the end."

She shakes her head, Verna getting the more logical points out of the way. Sey wasn't currently 'dying', so that was good. But then Verna wanders off to take care of others.

A long sigh, a blazing bright eye peeking out from behind the crook of an elbow to look at Seyardu. "... good to see you." A small smile.<Handspeech>

"Yeah, sssomething about a ghossst making you bleed out of your eyesss while they fill your mind with ssssorrow, it isss not pleasant. Neither wasss the ssssmell. Good to sssee you too, Aryia." Seyardu chuffs, flopping down onto her side on the bed. She looks over, and smiles, which is even more unsettling given her current appearance.

"I am sssaying I may disssappoint someone greatly given the complimentsss given, is all, but yess, helping people iss ssstill important. Celessstial mother knowsss the guard did little. Undead animalss at the gates, and the persson in charge there ssstates they are problemss for others." She continues with a slight growl.

Aryia squirms a bit uncomfortably at that description. "... duly noted," she signs slowly, her shifting slowly to lay on her side as well. At this point, the elf was used to seeing sith teeth on display. But still it unnerved her, having recently deal with undead.

Her brows raise. "Who would you be disappoint-" She blinks. Then grins. "... did you take my advice....??" <Handspeech>

"Yeah, have to be careful, I sssupposse it isss besst it wasss me, and not othersss, they may have been buried and remained ssso." Seyardu sighs, before she catches the comment and grin. The tarnished makari closes her eyes, and hides her snout under a hand. "Well, they were sspeaking like sssuch before thisss one sssaid a word to you, Aryia." She speaks finally. "But yesss. Thiss one thanksss you for your insssight and experience. And thiss one was invited to go camp with them, sssoon."

"Thankfully no one was buried then," she mentions, sagely nodding. But then, Aryia snickers, giving a few more motions with her hands. "Nice. I'm glad you were able to get over you nerves. Seems like it worked out well," she says, finishing with holding out a raise hand in according to the sacred ritual of softskins: highfives. <Handspeech>

... Right, she needed eyes open to speak to Aryia. So Seyardu cracked her eyes open and squinted, rubbing some of the dried blood out from the edges. "Jussst thisss one." She chuffs, staring at the upheld hand, waiting for some response that was not coming.

"Isss thisss how you feel? This excitement to sssee them? I am looking forward to it, but now thisss one looks like, well, thiss. Thisss one could be sssiblingss with that half forgotten kin met the other day."

Aryia pouts a bit, letting the hand fall and dangle before rolling her shoulder idly. Her pouting shifts to a soft smile. A nod. "Yes. I always look forward to see Violet all the time. Even just running into her is great. I... uh... see her more often now. So I have something to look forward at the end of the day."

She coughs, her face reddening. "I'm sure they'll understand. If they can't accept you while you're injured like that, then they aren't worth your time."

The elf makes a 'tch' sound. "I've heard of this sith-makar. Hopefully that's not the case." <Handspeech>

"You are ssstaying together with Violet? That isss good." Seyardu nods, allowing herself to smile back. "Ssshe is really nice. But ah, yess, thiss one looksss forward to ssseeing them. But thiss one iss, frusstrated."

The cleric sighs. "Thiss one never cared about their appearance ssave for being clean and approachable. But the one time thisss one found reassson for it-"

"It isss more than a bit frussstrating. But you are right, they will likely be alright."

Aryia grunts a bit in discomfort, but she reaches out to pat Seyardu on whatever body part was closest. "It's okay. It will fix in time, or when Verna is done making her rounds."

A shy smile crests her lips. "... yes. I am. And she is. I, um, really, really like spending time with her..." she says with small signs, ending with tapping the tips of her fingers together. "... she's sweet.<Handspeech>

The closest was probably an arm dangling over one end of the bed. Seyardu snorts and reaches out to pat the arm after. "I hope ssso. It isss not sssomething thiss one should be concerned about, but it wass nice."

The cleric blinks and refocuses. "I can not ssay that I know her overly well, and certainly not as well asss you, but sshe is nice."

Aryia gives a one armed shrug, "You'll be fine."

She rubs her neck. "... she is. I do hope you'll be able to get to know her better soon enough. She's just as clueless about this as I am."

A soft sigh, and she closes her blazing eyes. She purses her lips. "Seyardu. Random question. Do you know Celestial?" <Handspeech>

"Well, whenever that isss, I have been wondering when I would get a chance to meet them. But at leassst you have been able to sspend time with them, and that iss the mossst important."

The question makes her raise a brow, but she sighs and shakes her head. "Celessstial? Heard of it, but I do not know it, sssorry."

Aryia sighs. "... I hope so too. Should be soon," she motions slowly, give a slight frown. "It's... complicated. But you know this, so I don't need to elaborate."

The elf makes a 'tsk' sound. "Damn. Alright. Well... do you remember that flesh golem we fought? The floating head that was saying a bunch of random things?"

An inhale. A slow exhale. "... I.. apparently? Understood what they were saying. And Verna confirmed it with me. It was Celestial."

She smacks her face and slowly drags her hand down it. As if she didn't have enough problems already.<Handspeech>

"Yess, I remember the floating head from there. It wasss, sstrange." Seyardu nods, then sighs. "But it ssspoke celesstial? I hope we were not too hasssty in our destruction of it. Thiss one will offer prayer another time, jusst in cassse."

She blinks, and squints at the mul'niessa. "It isss not a bad thing. It bearsss looking into, yess, but it isss likely not a bad thing, mossst likely."

Aryia comes into a bit better focus at the squint, the elf looking none too different than before. But the appraisal would note the brightness of her eyes. "It was a fiend, don't bother," she comments before adjusting her laying position. "You say that, but I... don't know. I can make more lights now. But it's... really bright, like staring into a torch. I don't... think mul'neissa can do that. And after learning a bit about my past, I don't think it has anything to do with angels and whatever..." <Handspeech>

"Well, if it iss a fiend, then sso be it." Seyardu offers with a shrug. "It iss, magic iss a ssstrange thing. Perhapss you awakened to sssomething further in your learning of the magic mosst can do. Thiss one did not expect to ssuddenly sstop bleeding or thingsss like that."

"Thiss isss not me trying to be disssmissive, Aryia. We can look more into it another time. I am having a harder time ssspeaking than ussual about my thoughtsss on the matter, I am sssorry."

Aryia shakes her head, her waving off a hand. "It's okay, I know you're not. Let's... just rest for now, yes? Can talk about it more later. My ribs are killing me..."

The elf groans softly, rolling to her back and shoving her mask up to her eyes, blocking the light. <Handspeech>

"Resst sssounds good." Seyardu nods, dragging her tail back onto the bed to curl around her feet.

"I hope Sssjach doesss not run into thiss one, looking like thiss. And, sssorry I can not do more for the injury, but whatever that ghosst did, drained me of the energy usssually ussed for healing."

"Quit being sorry for being injured and just existing," Aryia waves off with a hand without looking. "Be the patient for once, instead of the healer. Just rest. Quit worrying. If he sees you maybe he'll get you some soup or something nice."

A few moments later, Aryia's breathing begins to even. In. Out. Must be how elves rest. <Handspeech>

"Sssoup would be nice. Or jusst being here, to hold handss, or sssomething of that ssort." Seyardu sighs, letting her eyes closed. "Maybe Violet will bring you over ssome soup. Ssshould tell her when you feel better, ssshe may worry." She adds, the irony completely lost on her.

Aryia softly sighs, her relaxing further as she starts to daydream. "... mmm... c-ddl-s..." she hisses, drifting off.
