Lower Markets, Midday

"Hmmmmm...."

The gnome behind the stall was drumming their fingers impatiently. All around them were glass charms of various shapes, colors, and sizes that sparkle in the daylight sun.

"-mmmmmmmmm-"

The drumming grows louder.

"-mmmmmmmmmm-"

"Laughing One's balls, are you gonna pick somethin'?!" the merchant huffs, smacking a hand onto the countertop.

This breaks the incredibly shiny silver scaled sith-makar out of their rumbling reverie, his gaze fixed up on a clear glass shape of a dragon. "Oh. Thisss one apologizesss. They were losst in thought. Yesss. That one," he singles it out.

Coinage exchanged, and him shooed away, Skiel holds up the little figure off a talon from a string. It scatters the light into a loose rainbow off into the ground. He makes a little happy grunt with his eyes closed.

It was a day for sith-makar shopping, apparently. Out of one of the many, many shops came a small white and brown makari, from a discount book shop, apparently. Eztli was in good spirits leaving, and when she passed Skielstregar, she stops to laugh.

"Well, seems like you're in a good mood. Happy with your purchase?" She asks. "I would think you're making a lightshow of the place enough on your own, but it does look nice."

"Silver is hard to miss, Spellreader." The 'makari squad reinforcements. Aelwyn peers around the way larger sith-makar's shape. The draconian nods his head in agreement to the other short sith-makar's suggestion, "Suits his scales," He gestures, "Gives a little color and life to his usual cold style."

Meanwhile, he pulls off a set of rods wrapped by a cord off his neck. "Silver does go well with plenty of strong colors."

Skiel blinks, him turning around and looking down to spy two makari looking up at him. "Oh! Peassse on your nessst you two," he hums happily. A little laugh echoes in his chest. "Yesss, thisss one iss, Eztli."

He tilts his head to Aelwyn, him chuffing once. "Thisss mussst be full of life to counter the cold! And thank you for kind wordsss. What are you two doing?"

The little glass dragon is still dangling from his finger, him content to hold it there as it gently spins in place on its thread.

"Well yes, he is, that's good, since it's easy to find him in a crowd." Eztli chuckles. "Like it's easy to find you with all the ribbons." The small makari chuckles. "I don't know though, I think the silver is already nice enough."

"Me? I'm just shopping, like I'm assuming you're up to. Bought some new books and the like, and I might get some vegetables and meat for stew or something like that. What about you too? I know Skiel is getting some glass figurines, what brings you to the market, Aelwyn?"

Aelwyn bows his head over towards Skielstregar. "Peace on his nest," The Dragoon greets, "And right he is. Become the light of the storm," The draconian rumbles as he moves to lightly elbow the larger sith-makar. Glaive resting against his shoulder, he turns his head towards Eztli. Then back up towards the larger silver-scaled man.

The wooden rods are momentarily flicked open; they part open and hung from strings, before he flicks them back in place again. Looks like a bundle of torches. "Shopping. Though this one did not know Silver was for something more shiny." The draconian rumbles in amusement. "This one likes the figure."

Skielstregar seemed to almost perk up in pride at the mention of being a light, a gout of cold air streams from his nostrils. "Yesss," he rumbles warmly. He looks to the rods, him barely budging from the elbow. Though, it makes him chuckle. "Isss that for fire?" he inquires before he rubs his neck. "Ah... thisss one isss unsure. Thisss one sssaw the glassss figure and felt like it wasss needed."

He shifts a bit, the halberd on his back gleaming silver instead of its stained ichor. "A ssstew sssounds good, Eztli. What booksss did you get? Thisss one... readsss. Ssssometimesss. Wordsss on paper are not their ssstrong sssuit."

"Mm, yeah! That's not me trying to say you shouldn't try to look better." Eztli chuckles. "After all, I went and got a new dress made for me, so I know that it's a good idea."

"Torches on strings? Oh, that's interesting! Is that for your dancing? I still haven't gotten to see that, you know." She adds to Aelwyn. "Oh, just a few books. A couple novels, and I found an interesting book on draconic ancestry that might be interesting. As well as a few romance books. Just things to pass the time mostly, you know? The amount of time travelling on some of these jobs isn't small."

"Hmmh? Yes, this one is practising with wood and fire." Aelwyn keeps his eyes looking at the dragon figure ... and then moment after, he turns his head up towards Skielstregar. "How many coins Silver bartered for it?" He idly wipes at his chest with the bundle of shafts.

Rumbling carefully, he leans up to speak quietly in the taller male's ear, "Spellreader is a force with the letters." Tail sways behind him. "May Silver be afloat." To Ezlti, he grins with a rumble. "Ah, this is true. Silver has not either." The draconian points out, then turns back towards Eztli. "Hmmh, she should teach more of these books she is reading next time." He rumbles with a flick of his tail.

Skielstregar waves a dismissive hand. "Thisss one underssstood what you meant, Eztli," he rumbles warmly. "That isss good. Thisss one thinksss whatever you got will look nice." Alas, he rubs his neck. "Ah. Yesss. That isss interesting to read about the great dragonsss. And thossse booksss are... confusing for thisss one, sssoftskinsss ussse many wordsss that don't make sssense," he admits, also accidently admitting he's read things like that.

He shifts to Aelwyn, the little figure swaying and scattering light. "Ah... it wasss a sssilver coin and a few copper piecesss," he answers. His brow raises at the whispered words, him bobbing his head lightly. "Yesss. Eztli isss more learned on sssuch things than thisss one," he rumbles warmly, big tail swaying and knocking against Aelwyn's. He gives a little 'ah, sssorry' for it.

"Oh, you were thinking of getting one too perhaps, Aelwyn? I can't say that I blame you. It is very nice looking." Eztli chuckles. "Perhaps when you are more experienced, I'll share some of my books with you. It's why I like reading, after all, compared to reading out of necessity."

"And thank you, There's a woman named Aryia who made it for me. I'm looking forward to it. Would you like to learn some more about reading and writing, Skielstregar? You're welcome to sit in on some of my lessons with Aelwyn if you wish, it wouldn't be any trouble."

"It is a nice looking dragon." Aelwyn rumbles, but gives a lighter thwap with his smaller tail against Skiel's. "Ah, but she could read the romance ones on the journeys." The Dragoon suggests, with his most innocuous smiles and tone - which was not very on both accounts. "To remind one of the journey home."

The draconian sucks in a little bit of his breath and tongue, turning towards Skielstregar. "Hmmh, and with two the tyranny of the letter 'I' could be rescinded."

At the mention of that name, Skielstregar freezes. He blinks. "Thisss knowsss of her..." he says slowly, shaking his head and shuddering. "Ssshe terrifiessss thisss one." Getting his mind off this, he bobs his head once. "Sssure, why not. Thiss one can. They just are not good at writing much."

He holds up a hand in explanation. Clack clack. Big mitts and talons. A chuckle leaves him.

The lumbering markai bobs his head. "It isss a nice dragon," he rumbles happily, looking at the little glass dragon. A talon pokes it carefully, it spinning.

Though, at the last bit, he just stares at the Dragoon. A grunt leaves him. "... what."

"Yes, that's what I said, Aelwyn." The small makari chuckles. "It's just amusing, even if half of the written characters behave in mildly infuriating ways at times, but that's part of the charm."

"Oh, you're getting better, Aelwyn, so don't worry about it." She adds, before blinking, and patting Skielstregar on the shoulder. "It's okay, I understand. To be completely honest, I was a bit terrified, but after I got over the fact that she dragged me by the neck to a dark alley, she really was quite professional." She adds, with another, slightly weaker chuckle. "That's great! I'll make sure to have supplies extra for you, we usually work in the garden district, when Aelwyn has a day free and he's willing to spend it learning to write."

Aelwyn's tail makes another thwap at Skielstregar's. "Be there." He firmly says, with a pointed stare, before his more 'laxed poise returns. At least for a moment, until Eztli explains her ordeal as if it were just a regular trip down the bookstore.

"... is this... normal?" The Dragoon asks, with vague gestures towards Eztli and this mysterious tail. Rumbling, he rolls his shoulders with a shake of his head. "Tch, this one has to head along. Peaces upon their nests," The draconian says with a bow of his head, and heads off.

Skiel chuffs, rubbing the pat arm. "Yess, ssshe wasss a nesst watcher during hatching. She isss... thisss one doesss not like being near her for thossse reasons." He shakes his head, then gives a thumbs up. "Thisss one will be-"

Tail smacked, he looks over and down to Aelwyn. "-uhh... yesss. Thiss one will be there," he murmbles. "Um. No. It iss not normal. That mul isss not normal. Anywho, peassse on your nesst, Aelwyn."

Waving goodbye to him, he turns to Eztli. "... thisss one hopesss you are well," he lightly inquires, the little glass dragon on a finger twinkling in the sun.

"No, it's not normal. But, sometimes artists can have their eccentricities." Eztli snorts. "It was only to go get the clothing fitted, anyways. "And peace on your nest Aelwyn, it was good to see you." She offers in parting, waving to him before he leaves. "That was an awful lot of tail smacking, are you alright?" She asks Skielstregar. "I'm well enough, well as can be given the circumstances, for myself. And you? How are you doing, Skielstregar? Have you been up to anything of late?"

Skielstregar shakes his head. "That mul isssn't right," he says with finality. He tilts his head to the side, looking down at his large, uncoordinated yet muscular tail. "Yesss? Thisss one iss alright. Aelwyn isss playful."

He ponders the question, scratching his chin with the talon that holds the glass dragon. "... thisss one iss well, they think. Their mind hasss been clearer asss of late. Erm, up to? Well, assside from businesss with the undead and ferrying people, nothing else."

"I think she's okay. Just very, well, blunt." Eztli chuckles. "She was willing to work on incredibly short notice too, for which I am grateful."

"Ah, I see. Well, I think having someone else for the lessons will be great. So thanks for giving it a try. I've always loved reading, so it's nice to be able to share some of that with more people." She notes with a smile. "That's good that you're doing well. Well, not that it has to be business like that, but I know you're probably helping a lot of people. And that's what this city needs around now."

Skielstregar shrugs. "At leassst she can sssatissfy. Thisss one triesss to avoid her."

He bobs his head. "Thisss one will bring what they can do learn," the tall makari rumbles. But, that note, he puts a hand on his hip and puffs his chest out in pride. The halberd shines in glossy reflection. "Thisss one thankss you for your kind wordsss."

Spirits high, he brings the glass dragon to his face to inspect it a moment longer before giving a quiet chuckle. "Thisss one needs be going. The temple of Daeussss needsss a hand with sssome thingsss. Peassse on your nesst Eztli." He reaches over, giving her a pat on the shoulder before lumbering off.
