Every last gold

Alaryn and Erendriel make a transaction in the market

Erendriel has one sleeve of her top pulled up, looking at her upper arm as she starts making her way back toward the Temples. She browses though, looking at the bustling market activity, becuase that is what one does.

With several items on her newly improved and larger wagon/cart, Alaryn has started to look like a right proper merchant. She has flasks with labels like, "Improved alchemical firearm propellent. All the power, with different colored smoke!" and also a simple appearing headband. Worked leather with some silver decorations. A note reads: "Found this on my adventures. Makes you more persuasive! Price? BEST OFFER!

She's been doing a brisk business in more mundane and simple items, wrapping up a sale of a nice leather coat she got her hands on to a young man who wants to look more... cool when the temperature gets less steamy out.

As the man walks away, she smiles wistfully and then shakes her head to clear it before turning her attention back to passers by, "I still have many things for sale! All sorts of things! Alchemical and artifice based, even old school magic!"

Erendriel freezes, and BACKS on up when she hears that. Beep. Beep. Beep. Bending over, she looks right at the headband, inspecting it very carefully. HEad tilting. "That's... real?" she asks softly, with a point.

Turning her head, Alaryn grins, "It sure is! I'll even make sure you realize it!" She reaches to her neck and unfastens the weird -almost- steampunk goggles wrapped about her throat. "Put these on and speak the word: (Insert funky draconic term here) to activate them. They'll let you -see- the magic in the headband." (Goggles of Detect Magic 3/day)

Erendriel nods and does as she's suggested to do. Doing her best to say that draconic word, which isn't THAT great, she still manages to use the magic item well enough to see. Taking the goggles back off, ending that weird breif period of DOUBLE GOGGLES, she goes into her pack and pulls out a large purse. Biting he rlip. "How... much?"

"Well, it -is- valuable. I did some research, and the going rate is about forty five hundred gold. But since I didn't -pay- for it... make me an offer." says Alaryn with a shrug and a smile, "I need to cover the cost of making something -I- want, and that'll run me about two thousand." She shakes her head, "Make an offer. Like I said, I don't have -any- overhead." What a bad saleswoman!

Erendriel is already a rather good bluffer, but she knows she doesn't have NEAR that. So she's pretty honest. She knees down on the ground, and dumps the coins in her purse out. It's a mix of platinum and gold. She dumps a few scattered silver and copper back into her purse, scoops the rest into her hands, and stands. "I have about.. almost 1850 gold worth?"

Watching the desperation in the gesture, Alaryn can't help but be impressed. "Well, I tell you what. I couldn't ask more of a person than every coin they carry. So it's a deal." she offers, "The headband is yours. I thought to use it to help make sales, but that seemed a bit like cheating to me." she offers with a smirk.

Erendriel holds her breath, stifling a squee, as she starts stacking up the toins for Alaryn, counting it out as she goes. And only when it's counted does she take the circlet. Very carefully, she holds it, and puts it right on. "See I can't even lie to you since you know you did clean me out." she giggles.

"So, by taking your last gold, I am now officially a true money grubbing merchant!" offers Alaryn with a smirk, "So, I hope that comes in -very- handy for you. It looks good on you too!"

Erendriel spins, her hands on the circlet very carefully. "Thank you! Now I'm going to go use it, to talk the priests into checking something for me..."

Laughing softly, Alaryn says, "Remember where you found that! Come back for more items in the future! I also make custom items to order! Even weapons and armor!" she calls out as you depart.

Erendriel smiles. "If... I can afford having something made. Do you do, um, what's it called. Rings that.. um... armor you?"

"Rings are a whole different skillset. Not that good yet." offers Alaryn with a shrug, "But I -can- make you more agile if you need it!"

Erendriel stretches. "I miiight need that, depending on what lessons I Start taking... Thank you again!"
