  • Emitter: Yngvild

  • Place: Wilderness
  • Time: December 7, 2015
  • Summary: Another report of demons, the Elunite's hire adventurers to investigate
  • APL: 4
  • Encounter 1: 3 Dretch, 1 Quasit, 1 Wizard (CR 7)

The notice invited interested adventurers to go to the temple of Eluna. For those who have been there before it is not quite as serene as it is usually. Some of the clergy are even moving at something approaching a hurry. And the guards are very watchful. The party is escorted towards the back and down and to a rather cramped office with a small attached sleeping room. Soon after everyone is gathered the rather dapper form of Rakim enters, although to the observant he is showing signs of stress, some strands of hair have escaped his ponytail and his jabot is not quite tied straight. Still he maintains his languid poise, offering everyone a smile and a brief nods "Why hello..." he drawls whilst going around the back of the desk "...I am not sure I have had the pleasure of meeting any of you before, I am Acquistioner Rakim ibn Fiadalis, Inquisitor to the temple of Eluna, and thank you all for coming"

hearing the call from the temple of Eluna, Arynel hurried to heed the call, and even sliding into the office rather quickly. She slides to the side and nods to Rakim. "You're welcome, Rakim. Anything I can do to help."

Standing 5'2", This woman has blonde hair trailing down to her waist, usually braided. She has an angular face with large blue eyes. Her hair frames her eyes, to make them look a little fiercer than they normally would. She also has full pink lips and pointed ears.

She has a slender body, but not malnourished. She still has feminine curves, but they're more slight than a normal human's. She typically wears white robes over her body along with a belt to keep her pouches on.

Chach slides into the temple, his great ears trailing behind him like two sock-kites! He moon-walks with liquid muscles in his legs, and a sashay-stride of glittering Veyshanti scarves and bangles. Every inch Ma Rosie's dancer, he walks with a gliding assurance and even has his warts puffed-out for the occasion! "Servant of the Great Silver Bangle in the Sky, may She Shine Forever! We are gathered! Let the evil be vanquished!"

Terewin wooshes into the room, coat tails trailing flaring dramaticly as he adjusts his cravat just so. "Indeed, what seems to be the problem? I am sure I can solve it." he says confidently. His shoes are signed, vest spotless. Nothing less than perfect is good enough for Terewin.

Stooping down to fit in the tight confines of the room more 'comfortably', the dark oruch woman looks around with a perpetual scowl, her 'smile' ferocious, even as her words are gruff and 'warm'. "Your abode is quite cozy. What seems to be the problem that you inquite after the disciples..."

She breaks into a tusky grin, and brings her arms in to flex the guns. "Of the Dragon Father?"

A finely arched brow arises as Rakim notes Chach's entry "Indeed...quite.." he drawls seemingly faintly off-put for a moment. He clears his throat and runs a hand through his hair "Anyway as I was saying we have had a report of demons and a wizard summoning them. Of course with things as they are we actually have many, many, reports of such things. And usually they are...well...not entirely accurate. Farmers not being experts on demons. Either way we have another one, and being stretched thin we would very much appreciate your assistance" he says with a smile that doesn't quite reach his watchful gaze as it sweeps somewhat tiredly over the assembled. That said he pulls out a fairly precisely drawn map on a scrap of parchment "An area of the woods between here and the village who reported it, there is supposedly a cave there of some ill-repute by local legend at least. So firstly we need the report confirmed, and if possible whatever is there dealt with. If the odds are not in your favour, you can come back here and we will endeavour to send in some more senior people. But I would guess it would be a minor summoner at best, if not perhaps goblins or bandits. Also if proved to be demons take any papers or tomes you may find so we may look into any connections. So.." he says offering the map over "...any questions?"

"Less fashionable gobbers!" corrects the highly fashionable gobber. Chach, with his wind-sock'd ears swayed behind him. He looks up with poise, a slant of the eyes that says he's comparing his versus Rakim's designer labels. And then he eyes Terewin's too, just for good measure! "The demons stand no chance! Our blades will skewer them, and--they shall run the other way like the cowards they are!" he says. This time, he DOES toss his head back. Earflopple!

"Minor summoner, huh?" Arynel says softly. She then smirks at Chach. "Don't underestimate people like that though. Especially summoners." She then rubs her chin. "I might be able to put the ki-bosh that....to a point. it'll be up to the rest of you to deal with him." She then looks to Rakim. "Any word on what area of the forest? Or just a general area?

"Demons?" Charity growls, continuing to slowly flex, before returning to a resting state. "Of course, you sought out the proper beings. For the Dragon Father does decree that those of Evil ways must be punished, with righteous fist and singing blade, to protect those less powerful with the broadness of your merciees!"

Yeah she just kind of said religious words for thirty seconds while implying Demons should be Punched. She looks quite convinced, though! As convinced as like seven feet of orc can look, at least.

Terewin nods "Well then, we shall take of it in no time. Shall we be on our way then?" Terewin says to the others.

Both Rakim's eyebrows arise at Chach, then draw together as he seems to be a little doubtful about something "Quite" is all he replies then turns his gaze to Arynel and then down to the map he just offered over, offering a brief smile. He nods to the seven foot monk and then Terewin "If there are no more questions, my the Sky-Singer bless you" he offers, making the sign of the moon over the party.

"I have none! I stand ready to conquer these beasts! They are no match for the Great Lady Boom-Boom! May they self-destruct in her Unintended Explosions!" the gobber declares, and then hops up so he can look at the map. His little eyes move quickly, and his lips flap together as though he is memorizing it to himself.

"Let us go forth, in the strength of the Father!" Charity adds, flexing again.

Watch System: Aldean has connected.

Arynel opens her mouth at Chach....then shuts it. "Lady boom-boom. I've heard it all now." She then chuckles and waves to Rakim. "I'm done with my questions then." Noticing the map. "the sooner we get this taken care of, the better." She says starting her way out.

Terewin looks at Chach and grins. "Right, lets be on with it then, what with all the blessings and such." he says with a wave of his hand.

The trip is uneventful. Initially at least. There is snow but the main road has been kept clean for merchants and travellers. The party reaches the landmark that leads to a small windy game trail type path, that is not as a clear but is still passable, it is marked on the map as the way to the rumoured cave 'o'evil.

Chach surreptitiously takes note of Terewin's clothing as they march, march, march! through the snow. He has, with protest, covered his long gobber-toes with a set of slender boots. The boots are an exaggerated version of the Veyshanti style--what a Veyshanti might wear if there ever were...was...

...snow...

"I have to know," he says suddenly to Terewin, "Where did you get the buckle? It looks swashing!" he declares! His long ears flap in the breeze. Or, very cold wind.

Terewin is a dashing brave sort but when the muscle bound women insist on leading the way who is he to say no? Ladies first afterall. The swordsman follows along, paying extra care not to step in anything that would scuff his polished boots. "The Prestigious Moon by chance, they have some descent things if you know what to ask for." he comments to Chach.

An elf clad in white is nearly invisible in the snow. Perhaps she has a little bit of traveling experience. She looks about and chuckles a little bit, but doesn't really say too much. She's taking care to make sure the spells she has are nicely in place.

Tromp. Tromp. Tromp. Heavy footfalls and brisk pace aside, her broad, bare-but-for-wraps feet leave crunchy holes in the snow. "Take heart, boon companions, for we strike forth to do battle with evil and foulest darness." She intones, a gruff and warm personality even in the biting chill she is moderately underdressed for. She serenely ignores the talk of clothing.

Clothing only serves to hide the TRUTH OF OILED MUSCLE!

"I will have to pay them a visit! They must be a fine establishment, and all that. These boots--I doubt the proprietor has even heard of the Sands of Veyshan, outside of a romance novel! ..." Chach steps exaggeratedly in his boots, the snow-drifts coming up higher on him than most. Then he stops, to make mental note of the map.

Watch System: Cesran has connected.

As the party progresses down the path things seem to get more oppressive, even those without a way to sense evil can feel there is something -wrong- here. There is a final bend, around which the map indicates is the cave.

Arynel says, "Ew....." So succint, Arynel. "the very air smells....wrong." She says from the back. "Just.....yuck.""

Terewin rubs his chin, "Right, smells like the place then. I just hope to smell does not linger long in my clothing." he comments with a frown.

"I hear a magic-user can clean many things right off with a snap of the fingers. It is quite impressive." Charity notes, as she sniffs the air herself. Sniff-sniff.

"Mmm. But isn't the winter air quite refreshing, kissing the heat of our bodies?"

GAME: Chach rolls bluff: (5)+9: 14

Around this way--the Cave of Doom! ...I smell the evil already," says the unarmed Chach. He leans forward, sniffing it--sniff sniff! with his great gobber nose, and moves to stand behind Charity. His eyes shine. "We shall take them unawares!" he stage-whispers. Then, raises his voice: "I am a poor, defenseless maiden!" calls the gobber in a high-pitched voice, towards the cave. "My brave champions! Do guard me well!" he cries. Unfortunately, his voice cracks in the middle, and the slender gobber ends up pounding his chest!

Terewin holds up a hand "Nono, magic lingers in the clothing and ruins it for those viewing it in the magical spectrum." he wcomments with a sigh. "None the less, shall we continue to this cave? Since our brave... orc lady was so brave as to lead up this far?!"

"A fair maiden? Never fear!" Charity calls, nearly bellowing, as she heads round the corner. She may be wise. But is she smart?

Survey says - not really.

Arynel just.....facepalms. "What a group." She says softly as she looks about.

In contrast there is a rather pretty and delicate look elf, dressed in black robes and holding a bow in one hand. Or rather elves as there seems to be three identical figures. In unison the raise their hands and mutter a spell. Several beams of fire spring out from the all, and all miss the orc, hissing in the snow

The remaining humanoid demon thing makes some horrible burbling noises as it goes all out attack on Terewin. But between his guard, speed and armor the claws and bite all miss or bounce off. Charity, having cleared her vision, drops an elbow into the ground-bound devil-demon-ugly, befor ramming a knee in to crush it and finish it off. When you're huge, this is easier! "Boon friend, slay the vile magic-user before they cast any more foul spells! I will crush these demonic scum-creatures!" She growls.

"HUUUUUURGH!" Arynel's looking a little green, but...she does manage to quip out. "I don't remember eating that. hey...where's my teeth?"

Lower-level demons are really not known for their courage. So as the remaining Dretch sees pretty much everyone going down, and their summoner taking hit after hit he decides to make a dash away from it all, gibbering in what sounds like fear.

It is now Charity's turn! Arynel is next!

"True fireballs lie at Ceinara's altar, buddy! What, you think demons gonna give you the satisfaction? You smile at'em real nice, they give you firecrackers? The great boom-boom fire? Faker! That's what you are!" says the gobber, and lands a blow--barely--against the knife-wielding mage. His eyes burn with the fire of the truly converted!

Charity comes in (like a WREEEEECKING BAAAALLL), after stomping all over her demon, to bearhug the Wizard. "Feel the coils of the Father, and his judgement of your actions, arcanist!"

Arynel is too busy puking to actually get up at the moment. Thankfully, she's puking downhill.

"Wwooo!" the diminutive gobber gives a fist-salute as the wizard gets grappled by the oruch-fly-punch out of nowhere! He jogs over there, and starts frisking the mage's pockets. "Hey, wizard-lady! We got this tied down!"

His perception is not the best. Or perhaps he assumes puking is something like a mating-call. You never know with gobbers.

You paged Chach with 'Some papers written in an odd looking language :)'

Actually starting to get up, Arynel finally walks over towards the mage and....pukes on his boots. "Jerk." She says wiping her mouth. "now we just need to find these papers we were supposed to find."

Chach jumps up, and waves a sheaf of papers overhead. On them is an odd-looking language. "Got these for you, wizard-lady!" he says, with a smile that reaches ear to ear.

Arynel looks to Chach, and takes the papers. "Strange. Wonder what they say." She says starting to read the papers.

You paged Arynel with 'Which languages does Arynel speak?'

Charity continues to bearhug the guy, moving to pin and then tie him up becuase that's smart. There is puke on his shoes now. Yick.

"Yes, purge yourself of the weakness and take heart in your restored constitution." She offers unhelpfully but gruff-cheerily, with a fierce (angry) tusky smile. "Now, let us see to those papers! Yes, rifle his pockets, for justice!"

You paged Arynel with 'Impressive, but still it makes no sense.'

You paged Arynel with 'Cast it'

GAME: Arynel casts Comprehend Languages. Caster Level: 3 DC: 16

You paged Arynel with 'You can make out the words now, but it reads like gibberish'

"I am sure you will figure it out!" Chach says, and adds, "I'm going to go rifle their pockets some more! I am curious what tools such a desperate person keeps!" he says, and goes to do just that.
