Choose Your Own Adventure III

It is late at night in the city of Alexandria. Each of you has an errand that is keeping you out well after dark in this, the seedier end of the city. The lights that normally illuminate the city are broken or just missing here and the night is quiet... mostly. From a nearby alley you all hear a scream, cut short suddenly. What will you do?

Brianna is on her way back from making a delivery for one of the other artificers from the hall when she hears the scream. She blinks, "Well that is not good." she says and heads that way without much thought. She pats down the pouches at her waist and then her gauntlets for some reason as she goes.

Mel is on his way home after a shift of late night cooking at some pub or other. His first reaction to the scream is to make sure there's no one attacking him, and when it seems like there's not, he seems ready to move on. After a moment, though, he'll slowly head towards the alley. Maybe there's something he can do without getting ... too involved.

Savengriff meanders through the streets, eyes peeled for any sign of shady doings. This being the bad part of town, though, that "shady thing" comes relatively quickly in the sound of the scream. "Stay where you are!" cried the guardsman, drawing his lonsword and running toward the site of the noise. "Help is on the way!"

Night time is the time Rhar and Gurr spend any time inside the smelly city. When they do. It's less smelly. More quiet. Except when people are screaming. Something's happening. Maybe someone needs help? Maybe they're hunting? Whatever they're doing, it's something. And doing something is better than doing nothing. Wolf and wolfing swivel their heads and ears, point their noses, and sniff their way along.

The four of you converge on the right-angle alley, all approaching at roughly the same time. You see a pile of fabric lying against the wall, moving slightly, and over it is a small figure. In the moonlight and shadow it's hard to make out much, but you do see the flash of a blade.

Ssylrath has dropped a TIMESTOP!

GAME: Mel rolls initiative: Roll: 9 + Bonus: 3 = Total: 12

GAME: You roll initiative for Ninja: Roll: 3 + Bonus: 8 = Total: 11

GAME: You roll initiative for Big Ninja: Roll: 4 + Bonus: 3 = Total: 7

GAME: Rhar rolls initiative: Roll: 20 + Bonus: 3 = Total: 23

GAME: Savengriff rolls initiative: Roll: 17 + Bonus: 2 = Total: 19

It is now Rhar's turn! Savengriff is next!

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Okay, you are a little ways down the alley, 40' from the small guy with the blade. Alley is 10' wide."

<OOC> Rhar moves in to investigate!

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "You ride forward, seeing what looks to be a Gobber in form-fitting black including a mask, standing over what is probably an unconscious human or similar. His blade glitters wetly, maybe blood. Perception?"

GAME: Rhar rolls perception: (14)+11: 25

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Certainly blood, the down person is bleeding. You also hear faint noises from the rooftops above you. You still have your actions, Gurr has moved."

<OOC> Rhar will Rhar! "Intimidate."

Rhar and Gurr pad into the alley. Ok, Gurr does most of the padding. He's bigger and faster. He and Rhar both sniff the air and see the person, the pile, and shiny. "You hunt. What you hunt?" She looks at the pile again and blinks. It's people. She turns and growls loudly at the GIB. "No hunt people!"

GAME: Rhar rolls intimidate: (19)+9: 28

It is now Savengriff's turn! Brianna is next!

<OOC> Savengriff says, "Casting ""Dancing Lights" to light up the alleyway and advancing."

GAME: Savengriff casts Dancing Lights. Caster Level: 3 DC: 13

It is now Brianna's turn! Mel is next!

<OOC> Brianna says, "we can tell that the figure attacked the one on the ground yes?"

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "It seems extremely likely."

<OOC> Brianna says, "swift action, power up my armor full dex, which ups ac to 18. and then use titan's fist spell to hit the gobber with one of my fists."

Savengriff wrinkles his nose as he hears Rhar scold... whatever's down that alleyway. He mutters under his breath as he advances, making his way toward the figure with his sword held before him. Nearby, another figure springs into existence - made of crackling lightning and vaguely human-shaped, it strides effortlessly beside the guardsman and serves to light up the alley. "Step away from that person and put the knife down!" he commands.

GAME: Brianna rolls ranged+2: (4)+3+2: 9

GAME: Brianna casts Titan Fist. Caster Level: 2 DC: 15

GAME: Ssylrath advances the initiative order.

It is now Mel's turn! Ninja is next!

Brianna blinks a little, "That does not look good." she says and moves to the arm of her armor and presses a button there. Her armor seems to flash and glow for a moment before her movements see a bit more graceful. She shakes her head and raises one of her arms pointing at the gobber, "Not a good idea, have a fist." and she presses a few buttons the fist of her armor flies at the gobber though it misses. A moment later it reappears on her hand and is a gauntlet again.

<OOC> Mel says, "Well. I don't want to rush into melee just before bad guys get actions. So. I'll delay and see what the ninja does. Then I'll move up and punch him or something."

It is now Ninja's turn! Big Ninja is next!

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "The ninja seems unhapy at Rhar's arrival and steps back, throwing something small up onto the roof."

GAME: Ssylrath rolls +9: (11)++9: 20

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Then he takes a ready stance. I'll pose it."

The Gobber in the strange outfit steps back, tossing something small that glints in the light, maybe a coin, up onto the roof. He then takes up a ready stance, blade bared. It's clear that the shortsword has blood on it.

It is now Big Ninja's turn! Rhar is next!

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Two more drop off the roof, behind Rhar, and attack her. No flank though."

GAME: Ssylrath rolls +5: (6)++5: 11

GAME: Ssylrath rolls +5: (14)++5: 19

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "That hits, yes Rhar?"

<OOC> Rhar is AC 19.

<OOC> Rhar says, "So one does."

GAME: Ssylrath rolls 1d12+4: (5)+4: 9

GAME: You damaged Rhar for 9 points. 26 remaining.

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Two more black-garbed figures drop off the roof behind Rhar, swinging at her with greataxes. These are big even for a humam and tower over the furry Lucht, one striking true and drawing blood."

1GAME: Mel's initiative total changed to 6.

It is now Mel's turn! Rhar is next!

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Okay, Mel! Move forward to flank, attack one, yes?"

<OOC> Mel says, "And ... I have Gang Up. If both Rhar and the wolf threaten, I'll leave an actual flanking spot for any who need it."

GAME: Mel rolls 1d20+8: (1)+8: 9

It is now Rhar's turn! Savengriff is next!

Mel pokes his head into the alley to see what's going on. Ack, scary .... creature on wolf! Maybe he ought not to be here after all. Then lights light up the alley, and he gets a better look at what's going on. Well, if it's a rescue, he'll join in, maybe get some coin for participating, though ... anything the wolfrider can't take care of ... what can he do? He creeps in quietly to provide .... backup. And it looks like he'll be needed! He hurries up, shortsword coming out quietly as he comes up to deliver a stealthy blow to the villain. Or he tries, but he wasn't expecting them to be that big! Where did they come from! He thought maybe they just looked big next to Rhar, but no, they're huge! He hesitates, and is lost. "Um. You're not here to buy insurance?" he says quickly. "I'll just ..." and he trails off, running out of patter.

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "The two big ones threaten you, the small one stepped back. You could 5' to flank with Mel if you wanted."

<OOC> Rhar goes after the big meanie with the axe. Move to flank. Hit with metal stick. Hit with wooden stick. Gurr will bite.

GAME: Rhar rolls 1d3+2: (3)+2: 5

It is now Savengriff's turn! Brianna is next!

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Action? You could move in, they are both in melee but only one has cover."

"Rhar!" She's polite and introduces herself. Even to big mean people who chop her in the back. Then she hits it with her stick. Her new, shiny, sharp metal stick with wisps of cold coming from it. She also smacks it with her big, round not-get-hit stick.

<OOC> Savengriff casts Hydraulic Push at the big (unhurt) ninja by Rhar to try and get them away from the halfling.

GAME: Savengriff casts Hydraulic Push. Caster Level: 3 DC: 14

GAME: Savengriff rolls 1d20+6: (1)+6: 7

It is now Brianna's turn! Ninja is next!

Savengriff continues walking forward, stopping a small ways off from the melee. "Get away from her, too!" he yells as the halfling is mugged. A rush of wind and water blasts toward the ninja, but ineffectively courses around the black-clad figure. "Seriously?" asks Savengriff, cocking his head curiously at his intended target. "That didn't work?"

<OOC> Brianna says, "alright, try to hit the one I did last time with titan fist again"

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "The enemies are all either in melee or have cover."

<OOC> Brianna says, "I have precise shot"

GAME: Brianna rolls ranged+2: (10)+3+2: 15

It is now Ninja's turn! Big Ninja is next!

GAME: Brianna casts Titan Fist. Caster Level: 2 DC: 15

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "The small one moves to flank Rhar and attacks. Even demoralized."

GAME: Ssylrath rolls 9: (8)+9: 17

Brianna tries her fist thing again, buttons flashing and then her fist flies into melee though just goes flying off alone.

GAME: You damaged Rhar for 20 points. 6 remaining.

<OOC> Rhar says, "Ow. I can't take AoOs?"

The smaller one takes advantage of Rhar's preoccupation with his companion and sinks his shortsword into her shoulder, pulling it out in a spray of blood.

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "No this round. Rogue talent."

It is now Big Ninja's turn! Mel is next!

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "The first swings at Rhar, hoping to finish her."

GAME: Ssylrath rolls 7: (12)+7: 19

GAME: Ssylrath rolls 5: (19)+5: 24

GAME: Ssylrath rolls 1d12+4: (12)+4: 16

GAME: You damaged Mel for 16 points. 17 remaining.

The two bigger ones swing their greataxes, downing Rhar and cutting Mel deeply. Things are not looking good for our heroes. They do all this in eerie silence, their faces shrouded in cloth.

It is now Mel's turn! Rhar is next!

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Mel?"

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "You flank one with Gurr still."

<OOC> Mel says, "I will use the flank and swing"

GAME: Mel rolls 1d20+8: (8)+8: 16

Rhar gets stabbed in the back, right through her fur. And the rest of her. She yelps. Then she doesn't even get to look back at that one before the big one hits her with its big axe. Rhar catches it really good, sprays out some extra blood, and flops over onto the alley in a bloody, furry mess.

GAME: Mel rolls 3d6+2: (8)+2: 10

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "You drop him. Pose it."

It is now Rhar's turn! Savengriff is next!

<OOC> Rhar says, "Gurr bites at the little one?"

GAME: Rhar rolls 1d20+6: (12)+6: 18

GAME: Rhar rolls 1d6+3: (3)+3: 6

GAME: Rhar rolls 1d20+6: (18)+6: 24

<OOC> Rhar says, "For the trip."

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Trip works. Pose it."

It is now Savengriff's turn! Brianna is next!

<OOC> Savengriff charges the tripped one with his longsword.

Mel barely avoids being eviscerated by huge dude with axe. This was not the fight he planned on! "Alexandria!" he cries out as Rhar goes down, hoping that people will rally. Allies behind him are doing stuff, but he's right in the face of it, and ... the fellow's left himself open! With quick wits more than anything else, he jabs the villain with his shortsword and drops him, adding a kick for good measure before squaring off against the other one.

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "The tripped one is on the far side of everthing."

<OOC> Savengriff says, "Goblin's closer?"

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "That is the goblin. The big one is closer."

<OOC> Savengriff says, "AH"

Gurr isn't going to leave Rhar. She's done the same for him. He whirls on the backstabbering little thing, snarling through snaping teeth. Teeth that lock down on the black one, shake it around, and drop it on the ground.

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "And a nice charge line too."

<OOC> Savengriff charges the big one.

GAME: Savengriff rolls melee+3: (8)+4+3: 15

It is now Brianna's turn! Ninja is next!

Savengriff dashes forward as the halfling is laid low, swiping at the larger ninja. His swing goes well wide of his target, and the blade of his sword sparks as it skips across the alleyway wall.

<OOC> Brianna says, "will draw my death ray and then move to where I have a shot so I can fire next round"

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "There really isn't anywhere right now, it's an alley. Only -4 for cover though."

<OOC> Brianna says, "just move foward and draw my deathray so I can shoot next round"

It is now Ninja's turn! Big Ninja is next!

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "The Gobber stands up. This provokes from Gurr."

Brianna reaches and pulls her death ray from her back and then starts to move forward trying to get into position so that she has a chance to shoot someone soon.

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Roll AoO, Rhar? Take your extra +4 for prone."

GAME: Rhar rolls 1d20+6+4: (2)+6+4: 12

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "He then readies to attack Gurr. The other one moves into flank and he attacks Gurr."

GAME: Ssylrath rolls 9: (16)+9: 25

GAME: Ssylrath rolls 1d4+1+3d6 (if that hit Gurr): (3)+1+(11 (if that hit Gurr)): 15

It is now Big Ninja's turn! Mel is next!

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "The other one then attacks Mel again."

GAME: Ssylrath rolls 5: (14)+5: 19

GAME: Ssylrath rolls 1d12+4: (1)+4: 5

GAME: You damaged Mel for 5 points. 12 remaining.

The two figures move with precision, one bouncing to his feet and slashing Gurr with cruel precision, the other stepping sideways and cleaing into Mel, drawing blood again.

It is now Mel's turn! Rhar is next!

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "You have the flank."

<OOC> Mel says, "I will hack, then."

GAME: Mel rolls 1d20+8: (13)+8: 21

GAME: Mel rolls 3d6+2: (13)+2: 15

It is now Rhar's turn! Savengriff is next!

Mel winces as he's struck again, his mail doing little enough to protect him from the huge axe-strokes, bloodied and looking rough. He grits his teeth as he tries to fight back, recognizing his current position as the best shot he has, and he waits for the enemy to divide his attention, pressing his own attack when he's looking away and driving his blade in a wicked strike which would have been a takedown if the fellow hadn't moved at the last moment.

<OOC> Rhar says, "Gurr bites at the annoying little one again."

GAME: Rhar rolls 1d20+6: (3)+6: 9

It is now Savengriff's turn! Brianna is next!

<OOC> Savengriff says, "Another swipe at the big one, then 5' step back."

Gurr isn't a tactical genius. He's a hunter. He eats things smaller than him. Or bigger when he can hunt with a pack. He can't now, so he keeps snapping angrily at the little one.

GAME: Savengriff rolls melee+1: (4)+4+1: 9

It is now Brianna's turn! Ninja is next!

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "You can move up to get a shot, but they are all in a line so there's cover still."

Savengriff grits his teeth as yet another attack misses the nimble ninja, the close quarters of the alleyway doing his swordsmanship no favors. He steps back and away from him and tries to think of a less futile strategy.

<OOC> Brianna says, "okay, its a ranged touch attack so will try it"

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "On which one, big or small?"

<OOC> Brianna says, "big"

GAME: Brianna rolls ranged+2-4: (6)+3+2+-4: 7

It is now Ninja's turn! Big Ninja is next!

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Try to hit Gurr."

GAME: Ssylrath rolls 9: (6)+9: 15

Brianna moves up and tries to fire off her death ray, its blast goes wide though and misses the larger of then. She mutters, "going to have to go back to the shot, all my gear needs refinement." she mutters and sighs a little.

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Anyway, the other one attacks Mel again, then steps out of the flank, beside Gurr."

GAME: Ssylrath rolls 5: (10)+5: 15

The two figures attempt to repeat their success from last round but neither can connect with their weapons. The bigger one backs away from Mel.

It is now Big Ninja's turn! Mel is next!

It is now Mel's turn! Rhar is next!

<OOC> Mel says, "So, it's backed away?"

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Yep."

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "5'."

<OOC> Mel says, "If I 5' up, will I have flanking again? Or Gangup?"

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "No, as Rhar is still unconscious. Sorry."

<OOC> Mel says, "Oh. I improved feint him, then I'll 5' up and whack."

GAME: Mel rolls bluff: (10)+8: 18

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Just successful."

GAME: Mel rolls 1d20+6: (3)+6: 9

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Miss."

<OOC> Mel says, "Ack."

It is now Rhar's turn! Savengriff is next!

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Gurr? Oh, and roll some stabilization checks, Rhar."

Mel presses his attack even as the enemy backs down. Seeing he'll be on his own for in the fight, he opts to press the advantage while he has it, following the enemy and trying to thwart him, feinting like he was shown by some of the more skillful fighters, though apparently they didn't show him what to do after he'd drawn them off guard and he's unable to capitalize on his momentary advantage.

GAME: Rhar rolls con: (18)+con: 18

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "You stabilized immediately."

GAME: Rhar rolls 1d20+6: (8)+6: 14

It is now Savengriff's turn! Brianna is next!

GAME: Brianna rolls 1d6+4: (3)+4: 7

It is now Ninja's turn! Big Ninja is next!

GAME: 'Big Ninja' removed from initiative list.

Savengriff mutters again as he decides to forego the sword. His other hand clenches and flexes, and small arcs of electricity course betwene his fingers. With a desperate lunge he reaches forward and grasps the ninja's chest, coursing the electricity through his target and dropping his smoking body to the ground with an audible *ZORCH*.

Brianna watches the big one fall and turns her death ray to fire at the smaller one. People are still in the way but she manages to fire, an electrical blast shooting the smaller one and striking with a solid blast.

The one remainig Gobber steps back and pulls out a potion, drinking it and vanishing from view. It's like magic!

It is now Mel's turn! Rhar is next!

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "You can be pretty sure where he is, unless he teleported."

<OOC> Mel says, "Vanished, huh? Yeah, I'll attack the square he last was."

<OOC> Mel says, "I will toss a javelin into the square where he was."

GAME: Mel rolls 1d20+6: (15)+6: 21

<OOC> Mel says, "Hit on high"

GAME: Mel rolls 1d100: (34): 34

It is now Rhar's turn! Savengriff is next!

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "1-50 misses."

GAME: Rhar rolls 1d100: (14): 14

It is now Savengriff's turn! Brianna is next!

Mel a bit too canny, or too cowardly, to rush in after an invisible enemy who's done us so much harm. Rather than going in wounded, he hefts a javelin and hurls it where he thinks the fellow was. Whether through poor memory or lack of skill, though, he only manages to hit the wall of a building, further down the alley.

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Brianna? Want to try the attack? I'll say no cover this time, it's possible. :)"

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Roll, as wel as 1d100 miss chance."

GAME: Brianna rolls 1d100: (18): 18

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "You guys need better percentile dice. Here, have mine."

It is now Brianna's turn! Ninja is next!

Gurr can't see it, but gobbers are stinky. He can smell it. He lunges forward and snaps his teeth at the thing, or where it should be. But it's not. Bad ninja. It should stand there visible so Gurr can eat it.

It is now Savengriff's turn! Brianna is next!

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Missed Savengriff. Action?"

Brianna blinks as the guy vanishes and then mutters a little. She tries to shott where she think it was. She doesn't hit though, it must have moved.

<OOC> Savengriff is back!

GAME: Savengriff used a Potion.

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "He'll move forward and attack Savengriff. Healing can't be allowed."

Savengriff watches the other ninja vanish, but his attention quickly turns to the fallen halfling. He skids down to his knees next to her and pulls a small vial out, pouring it down her throat to try and close some of her wounds.

GAME: Ssylrath rolls 1d4+1+3d6: (4)+1+(7): 12

GAME: You damaged Savengriff for 12 points. 12 remaining.

It is now Brianna's turn! Ninja is next!

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Cover again, but no miss chance."

GAME: Brianna rolls ranged+2: (5)+3+2: 10

Mel was just thinking about how he's going to phrase his report on how two enemy were slain and one got away with a potion of invisibility when the little bugger attacks. Well, that's convenient! Without thinking twice, he swings the shortsword in the tight confines of the alley and wounds the attacker, though the fellow's skillful enough that Mel couldn't pull off a killing shot.

Gurr can smell it, but seeing is better. The wolf doesn't give up and bounds forward with the pack. He just catches more of that damned black cloth again.

Brianna mutters, "Gotta leave me room to shoot people." she mutters and shakes her head a bit as everyone gathered around the gobber is blocking it from attack.

Savengriff just finishes administering the potion to Rhar when the ninja reappears and stabs him in the ribs. With a grunt, he whips his sword up, gashing his attacker open with a backhand swipe.

It is now Ninja's turn! Mel is next!

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "He withdraws away from Savengriff and Mel, but Gurr gets an AoO. Roll."

GAME: Rhar rolls 1d20+6: (20)+6: 26

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Confirm?"

GAME: Rhar rolls 1d20+6: (12)+6: 18

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Confirmed. Trip?"

GAME: Rhar rolls 1d20+6: (9)+6: 15

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Just missed that. Still, damage?"

GAME: Rhar rolls 2d6+6: (12)+6: 18

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "That kills him. Outright. Pose the coolness please. :)"

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Then pose freely, remember the original victim too. I'll keep the timestop up for healing and the like."

Get away? Oh, hells no. No one messes with Gurr's pack. Usually, it's only a pack of two, but that doesn't matter. Not to him. When the wily GIB tries to back off, Gurr bounds in. This time, there some throat in there with all the black cloth. Just enough for Gurr to dig his teeth into it, and tear it out. He keeps the mouthful. Rhar might get hungry later. Gurr knows he will.

Mel chuckles with amusement as the fellow backs down, only to be brought down by the ferocious wolf. He definitely doesn't want to be on the wrong end of that! Gloating for a moment, or maybe just exulting in a fight that he can walk away from, he is quickly reminded we have some down allies to see to. He sees them. And that's about as much as he can do. "Is there anything anyone can do for them?" he wonders as he looks between the original victim, Rhar, and the dead thugs. He nudges one of the less bloody thugs with his boot toe in case he's faking. If he's not faking, he'll ... well, Savengriff's checking out Rhar, so he'll see how the first victim is doing?

Looking around it quickly becomes clear that the assailants were two half-oruch and a gobber, all dressed in blak with black masks. They person they had assaulted is an elf in high-class dress, with a stab wound and a nasty lump on his head. It looks like he might come around with some treatment.

Savengriff grips at his ribs as the wolf savages the goblin, and turns his attention back to Rhar. "See if any of those... whatevers... have healing on them. Potions, salves, anything - I'll even take bandages right now."

GAME: Savengriff rolls heal: (12)+2: 14

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "The gobber has two potions labelled as healing, someone can pose finding them if you wish."

Brianna is looking around at the others, "I brought the wrong device or I could help a bit, right now I could just make someone bigger." she shakes her head and puts her deathray up, "Anything I can do to help?" she asks as she looks around.

Mel is checking the elf for purse, jewelry, that kind of thing. Potions, bandages? Sure, he'll check for those, too. "Uh. This one's not dying, looks like it was just a ... very well-prepared mugging?" He shrugs dismissively.

The elf has a small coin purse and little else other than a couple of keys.

Savengriff has dropped his sword on the ground as he tries to stop Rhar's bleeding, and uses one free hand to point to the larger ninjas. "Milady," he says, addressing Brianna, "if you could check those two for anyting useful, it'd be appreciated. I don't want our friend bleeding out on me here."

Brianna cocks her head to the side, "WEll preparred mugging? I wonder if they might have been after this person specifically." she nods her head and then does move to start searching those they downed.

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "Yep, two healing potions. If you use them roll the 1d8+1 for each and I'll apply it."

Rhar does her best bleeding wolfling impression. She's pretty good at it. Gurr is sliced up, himself, but he's more worried about Rhar. He stands by, nudging her and lick at the wounds. Wolf first aid.

GAME: You damaged Rhar for -7 points. 4 remaining.

Savengriff takes hold of the two potions as they're handed to him. "Thanks," he says simply, before pulling out the stoppers with his teeth and pouring each one down Rhar's throat, rubbing her windpipe to try and get her to swallow it. "C'mon. Wake up."

Mel leaves the small purse and keys, he doesn't want to get accused of being a mugger, himself. At least not for such a small reward. He shrugs about a targeted mugging. "Well, these bruisers here were defintely muscle. And this guy looks KO'd. Maybe they stole something specific from him?" He'll help by searching the fellow the wolf ripped apart. "Gah, what a mess," he remarks as he checks to see what might've been stolen.

"Augh!" Rhar wakes up. Coughing. And swinging. At least its just her paws.

Savengriff ducks.

The elf coughs and starts to wake up. "Aaugh! Don't kill me! I'll give you the ring, just don't kill me!" He shrinks back into his cloak, pooled on the ground.

Brianna cocks her head to the side, "What wring and we aren't going to kill you." she says quite plainly.

<OOC> Mel says, "How climbable does the wall look?"

<OOC> Ssylrath says, "DC 15, you could take 10."

GAME: Mel takes ten on climb: (10)+7: 17

Mel looks relieved as the wolfrider is brought back around. Small though she is, she was pretty badass. He peers up at the wall and roof where there might be some sort of loot stashed as the owner comes around, and he ignores the fellow to check the wall for handholds. Apparently scaling walls is something that cityboys pick up, because he finds windowsills and doorframes and loose bricks enough to pull himself up the wall bit by bit until he can find what it was the bandit threw away.

You paged Mel with 'You find a shiny gold ring with a ruby seal inset into it on the roof. Feel free to pose that.'

Mel comes back down a few moments later with a shiny gold ring with a ruby seal. He makes a show of handing it back to the owner. "This is what he took, yeah?" He'll hand it over. "There you go, safe and sound," he says. "Well. Not dead and bleeding in an alley, anyhow."

Savengriff sits on the ground and winces, still clutching at his ribs. "Quite the opposite. We're trying - to various degrees of success - to make sure you're /not/ killed, and not get us killed in the process." After a moment, he pulls himself to his feet. "Not exactly a great area to be wandering this time of night," he lectures the elf. "Need to steer clear of the nasty parts of town."

The elf lowers his hands. "Oh! You rescued me from those mercenaries!" He looks at his hands and then at Mel climbing the wall. "My ring! You found it! I'll pay you a reward, and double it if you escort me back to my home. It's in the city, but I'm worried more of those moght be back." He grimaces. "My brother is persistent."

Rhar calms down. All it takes is a second to realize where she is.. and alot of happy licking from Gurr. Then she feels all the blood in his fur when she hugs him. "Help Gurr too?" She isn't a chirugeon. The best she can do is lick at his wounds. Packs stick together.

Brianna nods, "Everyone is still a bit hurt, we can get out of here though, why is your brother after it?" she asks.

Mel ehs to the fellow, and at the mention of a brother, he looks over at the goblin. "I don't see the resemblance, myself," he quips, "But I don't mind walking you home. Mind, I hope your brother hasn't hired more of these. You maybe had better head to a watch house first, eh?" He looks over to Rhar and Gurr, and can't help but snicker, even mangled as he is. He nods at what Briana says, fishing into his own pouch after a long pause and offering Rhar another vial. "You probably need this more than I do," he allows.

Savengriff arches an eyebrow. "Does your family normally send out thugs to mug you for your jewelry?" he asks, holding out a hand to help the victim to his feet.

The elf pulls himself upright. "Thank you. I'm Geltharonlon Thumblorien, master merchant. My brother is trying to steal the house fortune, the ring carries authority over the house with it according to our mother's will. Keeping it from his hands means that I can continue business, I'll have to hire guards I suppose, I wasn't expecting him to go this far. Hired thugs, who would have thought it?" He looks between the group of you. "Are any of you available for long-term hire? You are obviously competent."

Savengriff chuckles. "Technically, your taxes pay my wages, so I guess I'm kind of hired. I work for the city guard," he says, tapping the emblem of his position. "And gods willing, it'll be long-term."

Mel looks alert at the offer of a job, and says, "If you've got the gold, you've got my attention." He doesn't mention about the competent thing, but attempts to look the part.

GAME: Mel rolls bluff: (6)+8: 14

GAME: Ssylrath rolls 10 (sense motive): (7)+10 (sense motive): 17

"Fight brother?" Rhar is up on her paws. "Why?" That makes no sense to her. She walks over with Gurr.

Brianna smiles and then shakes her head, "As much as I would like to be for hire, I have lots of work to do."

Geltharonlon shakes his head sadly. "It wasn't supposed to be a fight, it was supposed to go to the one who made the most money. My brother disagreed on methods of aquisition, shall we say." He collects himself together, slipping on the ring, and starts off towards the richer parts of town. He is hardly bleeding at all.

Savengriff starts to walk with Geltharonlon. "I'll still have to make a report of this," he says. "Even in this partof town, we have to report goblin ninja muggings."

Mel looks disappointed at the fellow's reaction to his show of skillfullness. Maybe he was trying too hard. Oh well, at least he'll get paid for this part of it.
