-=--=--=--=-<* Roleplay Nexus: Bubbling Fizzbee's Wizardly Pub *>--=--=--=--=-

The wizard's pub boasts itself as the only pub in existance without dark, shadowy corners. The structure is round and space is added not by wings, but by columns of floating tables and chairs. Gravity's taken a vacation in its interior as has, perhaps, good sense. The backs and shelves are lined with wines and ales of every variety, some which bubble and some which fizz and many which glitter or sparkle.

Drinks arrive as though by magic (ha ha), appearing in place with a pop and gurgle. At random moments, the air seems to sparkle or take on various hues, which only serves to hilight the unusual colors of the foods.

Cesran hmms as he looks around and he has his staff with him, "Now where did you hear about this?" He asks his staff, "I hope they have good stew." The wizard grumbles a little bit and Ral-sara rolls her eyes, "You need to eat more than stew you are getting a bit flabby there." Cesran snorts, "Ha, all the walking I do, I'm not flabby I'm svelte." He looks around and spots a table as he moves over. He hmms, "How you order, I hope they have a green hornet." Then if by magic a martini glass with a green hornet in it appears. Cesran hmms as he looks around and takes a sip.

Mikilos drifts down from one of the upper tables, far more comfortable moving in 3 dimensions than is typical for a non-avian. "Cesran, thought I recognized that voice." Meaning Ral-sara's distinct sass. "What are you two up to?"

Autumn wanders in while holding a book, floating over her shoulder is a glowing point of light for her to read by. She moves smoothly as she walks in, holding the door open with one hand as she heads over for a table. Since she's not really looking, she bumps right into Cesran! She blinks and gives him an annoyed look, like it was his fault. She frowns, then catches herself "Sorry, just reading Fizban's Essays On Enchantments. Fascinating stuff."

Cesran smiles, "Well Ral-sara is tired of going to the Fernwood Pub for dinner and I'm tired of listening to her complain so I agreed that I'd have dinner where she wanted and she picked here." Ral-sara nods as she looks around, "Yes this is where a proper wizard should be eating...not some pub." Cesran oofs as he's bumped into and he catches himself with his staff to keep upright. He inclines his head to Autumn, "Excuse me. Ah you are forgiven then, his treatises are always the hardest to follow, as if he wrote them to confuse even the greatest of minds." He pulls a chair out for both of them, "Please have a seat."

Mikilos chuckles and accepts the offers seat, trying to frown at Ral-sara. "A wizard eats whereever he happens to want to, and that place, whereever it might be, is the proper one. Such is the way of wizards." Nodding to Autumn, he shrugs. "A good core reading, though I prefer the theories presented by his contemporary, Zifnab."

Autumn smoothly slides into an offered chair and immediately "Yes, he believes that ..." She goes into a very complex explaination that anyone without at least a solid background in Arcana would be lost within seconds, then offers up her own take upon the topic which is well reasoned and logical. She waves away Mikilos's mention of Zifnab dismissively "Purely derivative stuff based purely on Fizban... he just changed things around and some of it he even got backwards."

Kyson has connected.

Cesran pushes the chair in for Autumn before he goes back to sit down. He hmms, "I've read both of them and it's my opinion that they were written by the same person. I think both works while they do offer some interesting theories and they are too similar in the way the authors write that they can't be two different people." He hmms as he picks up one of the menus and he looks it over. "No stew!" Ral-sara says as she's looking over Cesran's shoulder.

Kyson returns from the latrine behind the tavern and makes way through the rows of benches and tables until he comes up to where Cesran and Autumn have taken up residence. "Evening..."

Kyson adds, after having glanced between the elder mage and the woman, "Master, can I get you anything?" He pauses, "Mistress?"

Mikilos shakes his head, following along with the theories easily enough. "I disagee. The two authors are indeed very similar, and I think come from the same source. But there are fundimental and defineing differances between the two. To a casual glance, yes, the name is the major change. But I feel Zifnab is the more developed of the two, offering a somehwat broader worldview. Or Multi-world view, as the case may be."

Autumn shakes her head while still holding the open book in one hand, a glowing rock floating around her head as a reading light. She says "It's very obvious that Zifnab based most of his work on Fizban's, especially if it is the same author. Yes, it could be a lot of world experience that changed the opinion but the fundamentals are much better explained by Fizban in his Essays On Enchantments."

Cesran frowns a bit at Kyson, "Now Kyson no need to call me Master, I am just Cesran. I don't need fancy titles beside that of wizard." Ral-sara snorts a bit, "Or Archmage." Cesran looks at his staff, "Hush you." He turns his attention back to Kyson, "Please join us. Have you read either Fizban's Essays on Enchantment or Zifnab's Theories of Transmutation...although have any of you read Zanfib's Conclusions on Conjuration. Again it goes to proof my theory they are all the same author. Perhaps just they were written at different times."

Kyson smiles and slowly finds himself a seat at their table. "Yes M-...Cesran," he catches himself and then perks an eyebrow at the mention of Fizban's name. "That's an interesting idea Archmagus...but I've not read all of Zifnab's work to be able to make a comparison." A breath is taken, maybe two before he adds, "...but if it is the same person, why use different names M'...uh...sir?"

Mikilos blinks, and frowns mildly. "'Zanfib's Conclusions on Conjuration'... that... sounds somewhat familiar, but I can't quite place it. I think I read an exerpt somewhere, but not the orginal work. Anycase, I quite understand the viewpoint, but I don't think they are the same person. Pehaps fellow students, or brothers, or some such. Perhaps a group of authors working under a singular name. I'm sure you've noticed that the 'voice' of a given work can change drastically form one chapter to the next, even from one sentence to another." Looking to Kyson, the elf offers a handshake. "Mikilostravia Abrioudelanarchie Mithralla, Lord of Estranillia, Magus of the Fifth, Builder Arcane. But just 'Mikilos' is perfectly fine. Nice to make your aquaintence."

Autumn looks over at Kyson and nods "Oh yes, you're the one who approuched me at the funeral. Sorry I didn't talk more with you at the time, but it didn't seem appropriate. Actually, I'm sure the deceased would have approved, but it would have ruined the tone of the whole ceremony. I am Autumn." She flags down a waitress and asks for a white wine, which soon magically appears on the table before her. Looking around "Would anyone else like to share a platter of mixed meats, cheeses and breads?"

Cesran nods, "You should I have the book at home if you want to burrow it." He smiles, "Or he could have been just a nutty wizard who decided to pull one over on us by writing books like this. I'm sure whoever or whomever wrote the books is having a good laugh that was are debating it right now." He hmms, "That sound good to me." "And a salad for Cesran." Ral-sara chimes in and Cesran lets out a deep sigh, "And a salad I suppose, but with ranch dressing." He includes quickly. He takes drink of his green drink, "Kyson have you ever had a Green Hornet before?" He asks and this time it's Ral-sara's turn to let out a deep sigh, "Corrupting the innocent."

Kyson turns his attention to Autumn. "Yes Mistress...your gift to the Master was impressive." He nods as if remembering the mental image and then adds, "Would that my own skills were so advanced...". The sound of the dragon-staff's voice, and the fact that the dragon-headed staff =has= a voice is still something that is a surprise to the young apprentice. Copper-green eyes slant up to the figure questioningly - curious what it might be implicating. "I...can't say that I have, sir. I'm not much of a drinker."

Mikilos grins, and shakes his head. "Nothing for me, thank you. My magics sustain me." He frowns mildly at Cesran, trying not to grin. "All the exotic options to be found here, and you have your usual? Really?"

Kyson has disconnected.

Autumn chuckles softly "Enough with the Master or Mistress stuff. This is a casual meeting and none of us, to my knowledge, has taken you as an Apprentice. I think I speak for all of us when I say to juse call us by our names. I'm not long past my own apprentice days, so it makes me uncomfortable being called by such a title. Just relax and have a drink." She then puts in an order for a mixed platter of meats, cheeses and breads.

Tim has arrived.

Autumn, Mikilos and Cesran are all sitting around a table arguing about the merits of Fizban's writings versus those of Zifnab's later writings. Attention is drawn to their table further more by a flash of spectral light as a platter of food appears in the middle of their table, the smell wafting mouth wateringly across the room from cold cuts and sizzling meats.

Cesran looks at Mikilos, "Now you are starting to sound like her. I came here, I am not having stew, the least you could let me do is enjoy my favorite drink." He looks to Kyson, "You should try it it is very good. I understand, drinking and magic don't go along, but you can enjoy a drink or two. And you are young so get drunk once and while it's not going to hurt you." He looks over at Autumn, "Actually he is my apprentice." Mikilos, Autumn and Cesran are all setting at a table having a drink while they wait for their food to arrive. Kyson is also there, but he's fallen silent to listen to the older wizards.

A very portly elf walks into the bar, while many think elves are only thin and pretty, some of them can get fat. Most of them hide in shame, but this one seems to be just fine walking out in the open. The elf looks around briefly, smiling as he moves to a table to seat. Then after speaking softly for his order, about 8 different plates of food starts appearing, along with three mugs. The elf smiles, rubbing his hands together then picking up his utensils.

Autumn cocks her head to the side as she regards Cesran "Oh? My apologies... How long has he been under your tutelage?" She starts picking at the meats on the platter, making a small sandwich of roast beef, two cheeses and a pair of slices of bread.

Mikilos nabs a piece of cheese to nibble, despite his previous protest, and grins at Cesran. "Oh, nothing wrong with enjoying an old standby. But really, at least try something exotic. Ideally somethign you're not sure how to pronounce, let alone what's in it."

Cesran hmms, "It's all right, just a couple of lessons so far. It's good to review the basics, it makes you stronger and passes on knowledge." He shakes his head, "Thanks, but I have research to do in the morning. I'm working on a commission for Jareth and it's close to being done. I'd rather not lose a day to hangover." He looks at the portly elf, "Well at least someone gets to enjoy dinner." He says as his salad comes and he sighs as he starts to dig into it.

Autumn sneaks some of the sizzling roast beef onto Cesran's plate, hidden behind some of the lettuce from the staff...

Thats pretty much it, Tim seems to have ordered some of the more rare delacies. Griffen egg omlets, a nice steak that is made from owlbear (it tastes like chicken), and several other things that are hard to identify. He sips from one of his drinks, taking a bite of steak with a smile.

Mikilos wouldn't define owlbear as exotic, but not everyone dines at the Ox. Or has Svar for a hunter. He fowns to Cesran. "You don't have a hangover cure? And you dare to call yourself a wizard." He teases. "I've considered taking on an apprentice now and again, but I just don't have the time to do it properly. Between the shop and putting together my place, I've barely had time for my own studies."

Autumn looks up from her book and rattles off a formulae "That's a fairly solid hangover cure and only one time in a hundred will it turn your eyebrows orange."

Tim does not seem to be one to overexert himself, he actually casts mage hand to shift his plates around. Moving an empty one away and pulling a fresh one up to him.

Cesran nods his thanks to Autumn as he cuts up the meat to mix it in with the rest of the salad. He shakes his head, "No mixing potions was never an area of magic that I was interested in and even if it was I'd never test on myself...that's how you get a tentacle where your nose is supposed to be. Understandable with the War in Rune as well as crafting magic items, but I'll have time to mentor Kyson. He'll learn like I do, going out and using his magic against the nasties of the world that the Adventurer's guild throws at you."

Mikilos arches an eyebrow. "'Tentacle for a nose'? Now that sounds like stomething with a story behind it."

Autumn laughs softly "Oh, I was just offering up a purely alchemical mixture, no enchanting necessary. And trust me, I've had more than enough experience with alchemical mishaps..." She ruefully reaches up to run her hand over her smooth skull.

Tim continues to eat, he is about halfway done now, finishing his fourth plate, and the second mug of whatever drink he has. A few more shifts of plates and now he is working on what looks like a pasta dish.

Cesran shakes his head, "No story from me I was thinking up an example." He looks at the smooth head, "So I see, now I bet there is a story behind that." He looks over to Tim, "Feel free to join us."

Mikilos ponders. "Can only think of two personal alchemic mishaps. The first was as an apprentice. Regular sort of mishap. Some poor storage, a bumped table, a spilled vial, and suddenly half the roof missing. The other was a little more recent, I failed to make sure some reagents were aged properly, and the product began to destablizie. Nothing major, just the shelf life was hours instead of years. I had no imediate use, so I went to find someone who might find a purpose on short notice. You'd have to ask Jessa what became of the two Love Potions."

Autumn chuckles softly "The very short version is... when I was first learning alchemy, I took some shortcuts that I shouldn't have and added some ingredients as substitutions. It was definitely a lesson in taking your time and doing things properly, plus in humility. The result is all my hair fell out. Unfortunately, it has never grown back and I have been trying to figure out a recipe that will let it grow back." She shrugs and makes herself another little sandwich.

Tim looks up at the voice, and the invitation. He chuckles a bit and nods, then gestures for his food to be transported to thier table. He makes his way over, nodding as he arrives, "Hey there, how are ya all?" He seems remarkably laid back.

Cesran hmms, "Have you tried Perriman's Hair Tonic. It's usually what the adventurers use, very useful if you get hit by fireball or acid and your hair gets eaten away." He smiles, "I'm doing all right, we were discussing some magical theories earlier."

Mikilos nods. "Perriman's is soild general formula. If there's something specific going on, alternate potions are possible, though would need to know what exactly happened to make any recomendations." He raises a hand in greeting towards Tim.

Tim settles down in a chair, picking up a sandwich he takes a bite, chewing for a moment. "So, potions huh." He scratches his chin a moment, "I've yet to have my hair burned off."

Autumn shrugs "Unfortunately /everything/ I have tried has failed to bring my hair back. I've tried all the normal formulas and recipes, none of them have seemed to counter whatever I did during the original accident."

Autumn has disconnected.

Tim finishes his meal and heads out.

Tim has left.

Cesran has disconnected.
