  • Place: The Colosseum District
  • Summary: Wherein a gentle giant ponders upon the meaning of gods by kicking the beat out of a ruddy sith-makar.


A light rain falls from a grey sky. It's warm and there's a slight wind from the southeast.

Early in the morning for the Colosseum. Neither that nor the rain has distracted the most diehard of practices of their craft - even outside the district.

Currently setting up his practise ring, Aelwyn had taken a bit of time off from his typical morning routine at the TarRaCe, the Ports or alternatively the Guild; it was nice to go back to one's roots. Or in his case, figuring out how to heck make money on the streets.

Still, the pots were in a circle, currently being lit, and the Dragoon takes a sip of his own steaming cup.

Kaj also makes his way towards the colosseum, looking rather resigned, probably because that accursed half-elven woman one third his size continues to wipe the floor with him.

Spotting the Dragoon, Kaj changes tack, heading to join the lizardo.

He sits down across from him as if he was not only a guest but as if this was something they did every morning.

"Do you find the gods extremely annoying, as a concept?" he asks, clearly not having caffenaited properly yet.

One, two, three, all of them brightly lit and now balanced on the Dragoon's glaive. He bows his head as Kaj very noticeably approaches. "Giant," He greets.

Then the question just makes him stare at the other for a while - before he offers the steaming hot cup. "This one admits that the question makes very little sense at this hour."

Kaj shrugs his massive shoulders. "There is much I do not understand, but foremost amongst that are the gods, and the claims of their priests. The magic is undeniable, as are the miracles and incarnations, but it all only raises more questions." He shakes his maned head. "You are balancing objects on your glaive--why?"

"This one believes gods play the same game of life as any of us," The Dragoon rolls his shoulders. "That is where this is satisfied with the answer." The other question though, makes the ruddy sith-makar tilt his head, and then he flashes a sharp grin. Slowly, he begins to sway the glaive; balancing the pots of fire as their cords snap onto the haft, rolling in the air with the momentum of his movement. "So this one can do this."

Kaj smiles, not at the answer but at Alwyn's joy around the spinning fire pots.

"Brings to mind a dervish fire dance a friend once vividly described, something from the Vast." He turns briefly to the Sith-Makar, "A ritual of some sort, yes?"

"One could say it is, yes." The Dragoon responds, as he slowly stills the pots movement, bringing them back to a still. He then balances the glaive back around his shoulders. "This one has seen many fire dances - yet now one must come with his own."

Aelwyn then tilts his head. "What has made Giant so philosophical today?"

Kaj places his huge hand on Aelwyn's shoulder. "It's just....I'm very... . . . constipated."

Aelwyn stares up at the Kaj. Then he very less-than-subtly takes a step away from the large giant. "... this one knows the river is that way." He points with his hand. He did _not_ need that image in his head. He also offers his can of coffee. "This one also thinks Giant is better off with this."

Kaj finally loses control when Aelwyn steps away, but he takes his coffee anyway.

"I jest. A friend's death, that is what has put me in this mood," he explains, "I tried to make light of it, but it's not working. Maybe this coffee will," he adds with a cheeky wink before drinking the rest of it in one go.

"A friend's death?" The Dragoon asks - but perhaps some things are better be left for those in the skies to mull over. He reaches over and pats the large giant on the arm. "This one offers his regrets for the loss. Has this brought out the mulling over the gods? It is a familiar topic amongst those who share stories."

"Most certainly, but she did not will to return--it is doubly sorrowful, as she was instrumental in calling me back when I foolishly challenged the Kraken." He returns the mug with one hand, giving Alwyn's other hand an appreciative pat with his other.

"Thank you. I have lost many since arriving here, and many more before."

Aelwyn bows his head at those words. "Sometimes the path forward is the only path to take." The Dragoon says. "Let us not be sorrowful for those who have made their choice." Another pat on the shoulder. "Yet this one understands the cost of losing people; it is never easy, and it should never be as thus."

Speaking of which, "This one also presumes the match in the ring did not as go as planned?" Sharp row of teeth.

"That one is right," says Kaj, punching Aelwyn in the arm, "Come, you can have a turn at making me look bad in the circle..."

Kaj goes Colosseum <CM>.
Kaj has left.

Aelwyn tilts his head towards Kaj - then towards the collection of pots he just lit up. Shrugging his shoulders, he picks up his belongings and follows on after the giant.

"This one could use something to stretch their limbs, yes." He swings his blade around him, before he moves to pick up a less deadly practise implement.

Kaj , grinning, begins to stretch, eventually cracking hi knuckles as he enters one of the rope circles. "To triple tap or unconsciousness, no weapons, no magic, fair?"

"No weapons?" The Dragoon asks, looking at his staff. Well, he has taken larger giants down before. Probably not, but one can dream. "Fine, then. If that is how one wishes to play it." He flashes his teeth, before he also steps into the ring, slowly flexing his toe claws out. "Now this one supposes Giant is welcome to try and hit this one."

Aelwyn's taking his time gauging the large giant as he steps into the ring - he wasn't most proficient unarmed combatant, but he does take sudsden running steps forward, lands hard on his foot and then swings his leg around, trying to smack... somewhere on the giant. "Tch, one for the hit." He flashes his teeth.

Kaj is slow and thus surprised by the accuracy of Aelwyn's movements, stepping back to avoid additional hits.

He roars at Awlyn and assumes a raised hand stance.

Kaj seems to surprise Aelwyn with his battle shout, but still gets whacked again, though it's obvious to an onlooker he has managed to painfully block a second kick attempt and now delivers a powerful kick....or does he.

Aelwyn was not sure what he was fighting against when Kaj lets out that roar - so he takes extra precautions while approaching Kaj. Coming once again with his kicks, he flips in the air - but the second kick makes him vulnerable, easily knockwed away.

Kaj feints with a kick, rotating his body to elbow Aelwyn in the neck on his back swing, all while surprising him with his hair growing to the length of a person and slapping him hard on the face. Weirdly, the hair also changed completely in colour, and is now a vivid green.

Aelwyn gets more or less flattened to the ground by the attacks. Groaning, the ruddy sith-makar rolls over and flips on his feet. "Tch, why does hair always hit like a crate..." The draconian rumbles and flips on his feet. Flipping over on his hands, he twists on the ground and flings his legs about, smacking both of them at the same time against the giant's side.

Kaj tries the same tricks again, but Aelwyn skips to the side, not falling for the bluff, nor the spinning hair-tentacles!

Aelwyn keeps flipping around the roped ring; his moves are more akin to a show of acrobatics by now, but it seems to catch the Giant with enough of a surprise for him to run up along the other's front and kick him squarely in the chin.

Kaj grunts as the kicks land, Aelwyn's display and dances grabbing enough of his attention to have to suck in some blood down from his chin.

He recovers quickly, firing a straight forward donkey kick into Aelwyn's sternum, a swinging whip of hair just missing the Dragoon's chin.

Aelwyn is neatly kicked out of the rope ring in an arc. The ruddy sith-makar rolls around several times before landing on his back, coughing up hard as he tries to recover from the brutal assault. "Ooff..." The Dragoon says, as he rolls around on his front and then onto his all fours.

"Ahh, tch. Out the ring." Why did all the big ones kick so hard anyway?
