  • Summary: The battle in the Kelpie's pit trap commences, with Tetro and Ashlee in the hole with the horse, and Elyanna on the edge. The arvec is injured, and petitions Vardama to heal everyone around in, including the kelpie. Tetro and Elyanna attack. He uses a blade, she uses her whips. Tanith also joins in. Ash continues to heal, then give the kelpie the Evil Eye, while the others lay in with physical and breath weapons. Elyanna jumps in the hole, and the Kelpie and Tetrosabier jump out, with him landing a deadly killing blow as he does. Sabina is ready to help everyone out of the pit once the battle is over, and there are still several hours worth of exploring to do.

Previously


A mage had hired an adventuring party to investigate a weakness in reality. The group had an unexpected guest, in the form of an invisible, cat-sized, gold dragon. They traverse the portal and find themselves in a forest similar to the one they left. A blue light, a will-o-wisp, asks them for help and leads them to a horse. Approaching it, Tetro and Ashlee fall in a big crevas in the ground, and are joined in it with a sharp-toothed horse!

Ygraine is struck by a sudden sleepiness and heads to a bed of grass.

The sudden dropoff brings Elyanna, "Damn it!" cursing in Goblin, at a sprint toward the lip of the pit, the braided tresses of her whip unfurling as she casts her hand up and back. Her eyes flick down into the hole to sight her target as part of the single, almost artful roll of her wrist that brings the lash down with a bassy report agaisnt the equine's being. <goblin-talk>

GAME: Kelpie damaged Ashes for 5 points. 1 HP remaining.

The kelpie neighs and twists, kicking Ashes hard enough to crack bone in the chest. The black stallion-looking creature lands solidly after its kick and grins with it's sharp teeth. If it weren't for those teeth it would look like a horse; it did in fact look like a horse. But now its true nature is revealed.

Tetrosabier jumps back as he shouts "NOT A HORSE, THAT IS NOT A HORSE!". Quickly dashing to the side, he pulls out his rapier. Placing himself slightly out of the way of those out of the pit, he slashed at the equine imposter. His blade made contact and left a mark against the beast and he readied himself up to attack at the horse once more

Ash falls. Her reflexes aren't great even when she is feeling combat minded, and she wasn't. They are even slower when she is carrying a small dragon like a cat. And, as anyone in charge of a small animal would, she does her best to protect her instead of herself. Ash hits the ground with an "Ooof" as she acts as Tanith's cushion. She manages to keep her footing on the soft, comfortable ground as the visciously toothed horse leaps in and snarls.

This is followed by a second "Ooof" as the Kelpie kicks in her ribs. Breathing, is harder. Ashlee hears the other side.

"Tetrosabier, I am defenseless. I need your protection." She says, in a firm monotone. No excitement or urgency, even if she is wriggling one of her hands to touch her holy symbol without letting go of the dragon. "Feiu of the Tears, do not cry for me today," is her spoken prayer, and 'I don't want to be eaten', is her unspoken one. As the energies flow out from her the cool ground feels very welcoming.

The red woman glances down at the Kelpie tormenting her companions and , through roll of shoulder, flex of wrist, she gets the whip trailing behind her hand like a ribbon, the silver tresses of the popper fluttering in the wake as she points with the hand shod with her buckler and declares in a loud, slightly reverberating voice, "Worry not, though your parents are seperate, they're still brother and sister!" And to punctuate the hillarity, even as her spell fails and her target moves, she snaps the whip at him to no joy for his nimbleness. <goblin-talk>

The kelpie grins leeringly down at Ashes prone form, but the sudden appearance of the golden dragon from her arms makes it back up hastily. It tries to escape from the flurry of tiny claws that come at it, and manages to keep ouf of her furious reach. "NOHURTPEOPLES!!!" She screeches angrily at the Kelpie who in an effort to evade her tries to jump up the cliff face but fails horribly and instead falls onto its side; hooves flailing.

Tetrosabier rushes inbetween Ashes and the horse, and widens his shoulders as to make himself apear larger. Poking the sword at the equine, he made sure to keep Ashes safe from any attack the horse might make. "Don't worry, I've got you."

With the Kelpie on the ground, her arms free, Ashlee takes the opportunity push herself properly to her feet. She observes Tanith's little claws, and the tooth-horse's panic. Her ribs really hurt, so she fully takes out her small holy symbol and shakes the scales. "Feiu of the Tears, my ribs really hurt."

She has a hobgoblin's efficiency when it comes to asking for things. A chilling aura spreads out from her, numbing pains. Even for the murder-horse.

The halfbreed's lash is passed to her warding hand as she takes a knee at the lip of the pit to allow it to spill down toward the ashen one whilst the bird warrior defends her and the little golden ball of angry, "Withdraw!" <goblin-talk>

Nimbly the beast clammors to its feat, neatly evading another attack from Tetrosabier as it does so. Somehow its equine grin seems mocking.

Tetrosabier stands at the ready, sword drawn and stance widened. His cloak continues to cover Ashes and takes a breif moment to allow the imposthorse to get away, while still ready to attack back if it wanted to keep fighting.

Ashes greatly appreciates Tetrosabier's efforts to protect her, how the bird positions himself between her and the beast, taunting it to draw it's attacks. Of course, she expresses this gratitude primarily in a glare, directed towards the kelpie. She thinks of all the places it wouldn't want a pointy blade to go in. So, so many places. Hopefully Tetrosabier will appreciate her gratitude.

With the Freulein's turn to glaring over climbing, Elyanna decides to get more directly involved. She pitches forward to push off from her leading foot into a flip, the lash passed back to her other hand, tracing the line of a figure eight as though against an unseen sphere before snapping angrilly, if futilely at the equine just ahead of her graceful, silent landing. She twists buckler side toward the beast and the lash writhes behind her, "Let us end this." the choir intones through her carnivore's sneer.

With a twist the kelpie attacks Tetrosabier this time, kicking the birdman hard, but it faces an immediate retaliation from Tanith. "NOHURTPEOPLES!!!" Her tiny voice is thunderous as she lets loose a stream of fire at the kelpie which happens to catch it dead in the eyes. It lets out a horrible human-sounding scream of pain and she jeers at it irritably. "MYPEOPLES!!!"

Tetrosabier is hit hard by the horse and stumbles slightly. His brows furrow as he pulls back his rapier and brings it down heavilly. He readies his blade again, making sure that Ashes is still being guarded by his cloak.

The ashen arvec stands still, peering around the tall feathery egalrin. Her thick, stringy hair melds with her faded grey clothing, rendering her shadowy with only the bright skull marking on her face standing out, and within the dark eye-sockets of that skull, her glittering eyes. Eyes that peer into the kelpie's, unflinchingly, inevitable. Ash is a living momento mori and the beast is reminded, it can be injured, it can miss. Without doing much at all, Ash unsettles it with her unflinching gaze. Her words might well be its epitath, "We only wanted to be friends."

The red woman, seeing her brave comrade stumble in the horse's return, sidesteps with a flurry of motion to trade a whirl of black feathers for a slightly different whirl of black feathers as she flashes the silver popper of her whip agaisnt the creature in two quick whip-cracks. "Are you alright?" the choir asides in a businesslike manner, her eyes intent on her foe.

Seeming to decide that you are prey that it does not want to deal with, the kelpie jumps up the incline and stands with heaving flanks at the top of crevas. Tanith tries to hit it again, but her claws seem to be of little use against the beast and it gets away with just a tiny scratch on its nose from her though bleeding from another small wound from Elyanna.

<OOC> KELPIE DIES

Tetrosabier, still upset that he gave this creature a chance to run and it turned around and kicked him, leaps after the now fleeing kelpie. Raising his rapier as he decends, he slashes at he beast. The kelpie falls limp to the floor. Tetrosabier calls out to those around him, "Okay, I think it's dead now."

Elyanna flicks her wrist to coil her whip anew before it's returned to hanging over her falchion with an impresed chorus of "Well struck!" as Tetrosabier lays the creature low before she turns to the ashen one and the little dragon, "Come, we should be out of this hole before something else comes."

Bina stands with rope in hand looking surprised as Tetro jumps out of the hole in the ground. She blinks behind her mask several times and then laughs. "Good job!" She says as she lowers the rope down. "Sorry. I should have been helping but I knew I'd need help getting out withotu a rope. So I've tied this one off and ..." She shrugs lightly.

Ash scoops up Tanith and positions her against her shoulder. She checks that her satchel is in place, and everything in it like it should be. Grabbing the rope, she winds it around her arm as she pulls herself out. It takes some effort on her part, but she manages. She makes a slight nod to Sabina, looking back in the hole and across it at the dead kelpie. "In retrospect, we should have expected this."

Tetrosabier rushes over to Sabina and helps pull out the people still in the crevise. As he does so, he examines the environment, looking for any further threats. As soon as everyone exits the hole, he assists Sabina in winding the rope. He quickly falls back into the backround, as not to be in the way.
