-=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-<* A07: Fernwood Pub *>--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-

The common room of the Fernwood Pub dominates the inn, spacious and airy because of the high, vaulted ceiling. Ornately carved beams of dark, polished wood form a lattice overhead, supporting the arched roof two storeys above the floor. To the right of the double-door entry is a spiral staircase, winding upwards to a balcony that rings and overlooks the main area. Large windows at this level grant an excellent view of the river to the west and colorful market stalls to the north and east. An air of coziness is salvaged by keeping the pub dimly lit; parchment-shrouded mana lanterns hang at intervals from the base of the balcony, nestled amongst lush, magically propagated ivy and ferns that grow over this false demi-ceiling and the struts that support it.

The bar is sleek and simple, comprised of meticulously polished black lacquer. Tables are set under the darker niches formed by the balcony floor as well as on the balcony itself. A few are deliberately sized to accommodate halflings and gnomes, but the majority are meant for human-sized individuals. A large common table is on the main floor, set before a semi-circular stage situated against the western wall. Beside it, with pipes mounted upon the wall and running up past the balcony and almost to the ceiling, is a refurbished pipe organ made to look like the one lost when the Fernwood was destroyed during the Merkabah Siege.

Now there's a face Aldean hasn't seen in a while. He's leaning back in a chair at a table by the fire, hands behind his head with fingers laced together, his own empty plate and near-empty tankard sitting forlornly on the table in front of him. The hands drop, though, as he spots Rayne, but he doesn't get up yet.

Rayne gets her things when her eyes flicker across the bar and they land on Aldean, she smiles a warm and affectionate smile for the man before she turns back to her food. For now the bard simply waits to see if he will come to her.

Mikilos hurries his way into the Pub, heading directly for the bar proper. Easy enough to get the bartender's attention, though a moment of his time takes slightly longer. "Do you carry 'RockBiter Ale'? Yes, RockBiter Ale; it's a khazad brew, started as a solvent to etch stone, and well you know how such things go. Anyway, RockBiter Ale. Yes, please." The elf waits as the bartender calls to the back, and talks with someone more knowledgeable for a moment. "No? Alright, thank you. I hadn't thought so, but figured should check. No no, just wanted to check if you had any in stock. Ah, a mulled wine, please. Thank you."

An amused grin splits Aldean's mobile features at the look he gets from the half-Sil, dark eyes dancing with silent laughter. He pauses a moment or three, though, and not until Mikilos walks in and makes for the bar as well does he stand and move to join the company at the bar, taking his tankard with him. "Fair winds, both o' ye," he greets both at once as he approaches. "Rockbiter Ale? What're ye tryin' ta burn?"

Rayne looses out to a comrade asking about rockbiter Ale, she sighs and shakes her head pushing her hair back. Rayne continues to eat her food and turns her attention away from Aldean. Her fingers lightly spoon the food to her lips as she relaxes in the warmth of the pub.

Mikilos mmms absently, and shrugs, nodding greetings to both Rayne and Aldean. "Oh, it's not for me. I'm no stranger to strong drink, but some things are best left alone. No, owe a couple of elementals a favor, and they heard about it somewhere. Know the mines up north of the city brew the occasional batch, but wasn't sure if was any local."

Aldean's baritone chuckle fades quickly enough. "Were I ye, I'd be after asking around Lower Trades," he suggests. "Lot o' Khazad that way, they might know someone." He takes a seat between the sil and half-sil, finishing what is left of his tankard and gesturing for a refill. A lighter ale appears to be his choice. "Ain't seen ye in a bit, lass," he tells Rayne. "Ye look well."

Rayne blushes to his complement, she fiddles with her fork a bit and brings her eyes up to his own. "And you.." she says as she listens to the trade talk and she nods her head a bit, and she looks around Aldean to Mikilos "how many enchantments can a weapon hold?" she wonders before she looks back to Aldean "I was wandering the Astral lands for a bit, got lost, and returned.. it was a very long and dangerous adventure..and.. I missed you".

Mikilos frowns mildly, nodding to Aldean. "Word got out I needed some for a favor. Prices went up. A lot. Hurried here to beat the rumor." He shugs, and blinks, glancing to Rayne. "In the Astral? Sounds like is a tale there. As for enchantments, a small handful, it depends on the enchantments. The more powerful the magics, the more 'room' it takes up in the structure. The most powerful magics must be weilded alone."

"Greedy bastards," Aldean snorts at Mikilos, shaking his head. "Aye, that sounds like quite the tale indeed," he agrees, flashing an easy grin at Rayne. "I'd not mind hearin' a few of 'em sometime, were ye inclined to share at all. Surprised it be me ye missed, though?" One blonde eyebrow climbs a little. "Thinkin' o me were ye?"

Rayne nods her head "I was wondering if you could take a look at my bow .. maybe see if we can add a Huntsman charm to it." she says quietly before she smiles to the blonde, a roll of her smaller shoulders is given as she hands him a small bag. There is a smile on her features, it would seem she has grown fond of him. But then back her eyes go to Mikilos "it is Mighty and.. Flaming." (re)

Mikilos shrugs, and nods to Rayne. "I'm involved in a project at the moment, but can in a few weeks. Magic upon magic does become more complex, but those specific enchantments aren't too complex.

Although Aldean takes the bag and peeks inside, he remains silent for the moment, letting the two converse. He's had these sorts of conversations with the sildanya often enough himself, and seems content to listen.

Rayne watches Aldean with a twinkle in her eyes before she nods her head to Miklos "great, how much would such a thing cost?" she wonders before she returns to her drink.

Mikilos ponders a few moments, and shrugs. "I'd need to double check the details, but somewhere around 3,600 gold pieces. Or whatever sort of currency works best for you."

While the two are talking, Aldean pulls from the bag a miniature wooden carving of a sailing ship, finely detailed. He examines it closely, that raised eyebrow climbing further in appreciation as he examines it. He doesn't interrupt, though.

Rayne nods "if you wantedto enhance it a bit more we can do that as well." she smiles then, she watches Aldean, "I made it.." she tells him then looks back to Mikilos "I will have the money for you."

Rayne says, "when you are ready that is."

Rayne nods "if you wanted to enhance it a bit more we can do that as well." she smiles then, she watches Aldean, "I made it.." she tells him then looks back to Mikilos "I will have the money for you., when you are ready. I will need to make a bit more to cover the expenses.. I am about 2k short."

Mikilos nods. "It will be a while before I've the time to take on a fresh project. A couple weeks at least. You may be able to find a different enchanter before then, with no ill will. There's plenty of trade to go around." The elf frowns a few moments, and shrugs. "Off that topic a moment, have either of you heard of anything special being planned for the dawn of spring?"

"Damned impressive work," Aldean tells Rayne, examining the bag closely as his fresh ale arrives. Took it long enough. "Ye be talented." He shows the miniature ship to Mikilos, then tucks it back into the bag. "I ain't, but then th'sil don't talk to me," he answers Mikilos, flashing a grin that shows no hard feelings. "Temple of the Father's all edgy, though."

Rayne also shakes her head "I just got back ..." she shrugs in explanation. Her eyes follow Aldean slightly and she smiles, and sighs a bit before blushing gently. Her fingers sip on her ale and she looks back to Mikilos "why?"

Mikilos shrugs. "I'm thinking of holding a ball for the Feast of Naynan. But I'd hate to interrupt if are other plans already in place."

Gently wrapping it back up, Aldean turns that smile on Rayne and offers it back to her, "That be a fine piece o' work indeed. Guess ye had time ta work on it, did ye no? Ye've a prize there." He leans his forearms against the bar, then frees one to take a drink of his ale. "I ain't heard nothin', an' I'm up fer a celebration o' spring," he laughs. "Be ye lookin' fer music at all?"

Rayne smiles then at the mention of music she too looks to Mikilos, she finishes her ale and stands. Apparently the half-sil is readying herself to go. "I can not wait for spring." she sighs wistfully.

Mikilos blinks, and frowns a moment. "Yes, though I hadn't given it any specific thought. I'll need to give that some consideration. But for now, I erally should be going. Was nice seeing both of you again."
