Previously

Shaevin stops time. Everyone rushes to attack, either him or the attending Navosians. Blows rain down, or up in the case with Paenitia, as she, Lyme and Aryia concentrate on him. Shaevin attempts spells and discovers that Navos has abandoned him. Althea remains with Seyardu, and she silences him after he emits a noise that leaves Paenitia stunned. The other Navosians start vomiting spiders, or turning into spiders, despite Aryia's best efforts to beat them down. As these spiders collect into a larger, walking version of the void, the group battles on in silence.

Shaevin's eyes get wide as his pleas become literally unheard.

It felt strange to have one's sense of hearing vanish at the snap of a prayer. But compared to the empty sound of silence, it was far more preferred than that of the sheer void that wracked her ears and her body that the so called 'priest' wrought upon them. She had a choice to make. Deal with the void spider, or shut the priest up, as knocking out these other people seemed to do little. There was too many of them, and by this point, they were far too gone.

So Aryia does what Aryia does best.

She drop kicks nothingness. It's all eerie, silent, no crunch, no footfalls, no hissing from the shadow elf. But she's mouthing something as she punches down.

"I fucking hate churches."

This was, expected, but unexpected. And the cleric was caught in the grip of the strange creature that was both there and not. And there were more spiders crawling towards it from the prone cultists.

"This one asks for more assistance, to smite this one's foes." She offers in prayer, summoning a large, spectral sword in the air to swipe at the spider. Only, it swiped where it had been a moment before, through one of the lingering voids of anything it left in its wake.

Lyme hits the screamer across the face with his sword, shearing the face open -- at least, that's what it feels like. He ... can't tell, though.

It's eerie, the little Lucht Knight swinging her sword, no clanking of her armour, no taunting demand. She might be speaking under her mask, but it hides all signs, and the spell, all sounds.

There's a flash of light, then a second.

Shaevin may be mortally wounded from Lyme's attacks, but Paenitia's both miss and do nothing to speed him on his way.

Now

A glancing blow from the horrible spider-like monstrosity of non-existence follows across Aryia. It definitely lances across her, but she's able to avoid it in time. The Navosians, see, have at least finished what they're doing. Those that are already hollowed out seem to have finished disgorging. There's definitely no coming back from that, as bad as it looks.

<OOC> Fallon says, "whatever, i'll shoot the spider"
GAME: Fallon rolls weapon1: (11)+7: 18

Fallon initially steps inside to avoid a guard patrol, but he is drawn to the chamber by the commotion. He knows trouble when he hears it. Not being -entirely- sure what was happening, but knowing his party was in immediate danger of becoming spider food, he sneaks around and levels his bow at the creature. His arrow lands true, even if it does negligible harm.

Aryia's eyes widen as a limb from the not-spider swings towards her. It touches, and it felt like nothing. The absence of force was strange. But it pushed all the same. Not wanting to see what that felt like, the shadow pugilist dropped to a knee, rolling with the hit to brush it off. But instead it sped her up. Using that momentum, she spun like a top and whipped her heel out at -just- the right moment to land a direct, on point CRACK right onto what would be a joint on a normal spider. But no sound is heard, no scuffle, just the feeling of a -thud- landing. Followed by two more brisk jabs, -thud thud-, into the same spot, drilling in.

Shaevin, of course, is soundlessly screaming. This isn't how it was supposed to go. His lips blatantly clear, easy to read, "I'll try again. Don't you see? I'll try again! This time it will go well -- it won't end like this again."

He's babbling, now.

<OOC> Seyardu says, "I'm going to power attack the spider!"
GAME: Seyardu rolls weapon24-1: (3)+7+-1: 9

The spiders from the cultists seemed to have abated. But that still left the massive, nothingness that was still a threat, to them, and to the others there. One Of Aryia's movements must have pushed the priest far enough away from the silencing magic. She wasn't sure if she could speak still, but she could still move. She remembered a sign Aryia had used on several occasions. The silver sith makar holds her free hand up, central claw stuck out in the priest's direction, before she charged back at the creature, though the strange trails of the movements made the swing go wide.

It is an eerie and silence dance, as the Red Knight moves for her attack. She can read Shaevin's lips; he can't read hers, her mask is always a grin. She steps in, swings, another silver arc that slashes across his shoulders.

There will not be a second chance, if she has any say. The return swing misses him though, catching only cloth.

She adjusts to take up an opposite position from Aryia, to flank for her attacks.

They've at least stopped vomiting spiders now, but the navosians on the ground start to ... sprout ... black ... tentacles. They start to rise to their feet.

Lovely.

Well, Shaevin seems to have gone silent(er) and continues being absorbed by the spider. He's clutching something in his hand, but it's hard to see what at the moment.

<OOC> Fallon will shoot the spider again.
GAME: Fallon rolls weapon1: (2)+7: 9

Fallon nocks another arrow and lets it fly... only to have it whiff by. He's not having the best luck.

Aryia stumbles back as she struck hard, the elf sliding across the ground, but that only redoubles her efforts. She pivots to a knee and charges back into the spider, grabbing at one of the legs to drive her knee repeatedly into its torso. These things obviously have to vanish eventually? Right? Right??

<OOC> Seyardu says, "Power attack against the spider then!"
GAME: Seyardu rolls weapon24+1: (8)+7+1: 16
GAME: Seyardu rolls 1d8+10: (8)+10: 18

Seyardu couldn't make out what Shaevin was doing, but the more pressing matter was the spider that was trying to kill them, and likely after killing the priest, them. The silverscale ducks behind the lucht-knight, and under the cover of one of her strikes, she slashes downwards into the flank of the spider, finally meeting, something. She was fairly certain the bill had slashed through the spider, but the lack of any feedback was jarring.

<OOC> Paenitia says, "I'd like to Full attack to disarm whatever he's holding, that will provoke AOOs"
GAME: Paenitia rolls weapon4+1+2: (6)+9+1+2: 18
GAME: Paenitia rolls weapon4+1+2-5: (10)+9+1+2+-5: 17

Paenitia can see that something's going on, Shaevin is clutching an object in his hand like an obsessive gnome. The Red Knight has known a few. She steps up, swings. Her silver sword goes snicker-snack!

Actually, it is silent, as is her movements.

It still strikes him on the wrist, and leaves him with hands. What is held in those hands however, is knocked free.

A tiny hourglass goes tumbling through the air.

Surely she makes a cry of 'Ole!', but this too is muffled.

The navosians -- the sorta ... gross ... dead ... tentacly ones, now, are rising to their feet. They begin to lurch towards you, hands and blackness outstretched.

...so the spider thing's legs, after finishing smashing into Aryia, is distracted by the crimson knight. It lashes into them, stabbing with sharp, bladed feet before it stumbles back. Body flickering, really, and starting to show signs of breaking apart.

Of course, both Aryia and Paenitia are ... hearing ... things at this point. A whisper at the edge of their consciousness. They're able to ignore it.

GAME: Fallon rolls weapon1: (9)+7: 16

Fallon misses. Again. He squints suspiciously at his bow.

<OOC> Aryia says, "aryia will punch again, Attempting stunning fist on the first strike"

Aryia is getting spent, sweat dripping off her brow as her focus wavers. She launches forward, only to abruptly hop up into the air and deliver a downwards haymaker, cracking silently into the side of it's face. She considers headbutting it out of frustration, but smacking the void spider with your face seems like a poor life choice. So she boots it in the jaw instead.

She glances back, eyes widening before waving a hand and pointing frantically to the advancing, now reanimated, sacrifices.

Aryia looks back, readying to keep the fight up with the void sp-. She blinks. Oh. Good job boot. She pivots back to face the horde, an eye kept on the snarky navosian.

<OOC> Seyardu says, "going to move up to one of the navosians, power attack!"
GAME: Seyardu rolls weapon24+1: (7)+7+1: 15
GAME: Seyardu rolls 1d8+10: (4)+10: 14

Seyardu blinks as she sees the, nothingness, dissappear? Stop being there? This was all confusing to the Makari. But she turns her attention to the cultists who have stumbled to their feet after giving Aryia a thumbs up. She moves to strike at the former cultist, bringing the adamantine blade of the polearm thudding into their side. And yet, it seemed like they were barely perturbed.

<OOC> Lyme has Cleave, will use it on the reanimated.

Paenitia raises her sword, Shaevin is down, he has stopped moving. There's a moment's hesitation, it is in her vows, she cannot attack the helpless, and idiocy is not an acceptable exception.

The spider is gone, but there are... former Navosian... things. Tall towers of ick. Flash, flash, flash! The silvery blade cuts into the one immediately in front of her, slicing deep into the legs.

He's still up, but he may be shorter, soon.

So, the ... tentacle-men. They 're lashing out, exploding into more tentacles that lash out of their bodies, striking at you. Paenitia, Seyardu, Aryia and Lyme are all struck, slapped and crushed by them. It doesn't feel great, especially, and avoiding their hits is taking a lot more work than you'd like, especially when there's so many of them.

Unlike Paenitia, Aryia had no oaths to keep. The only one she bore was the one of life: for herself to see the next day. She calmly walks over, kneeling down to check the body of the Void Priest. She frowns some, unable to tell the state of his decay. Instead she kicks him over supine, raises a boot, and delivers a cold execution via heel on the back of the neck. There is no sound, eerily serene. Except for the gnarly twist she does at the end with her foot too make sure he was gone for good.

<OOC> Seyardu says, "power attack on the nearest navosian!"
GAME: Seyardu rolls weapon24+1: (2)+7+1: 10

Seyardu moves to swing at another risen navosian, but her glaive is stuck into the previous one, and she struggles to wrench it free, missing an opening as they swing at them again.

The Red Knight is used to taller opponents, overwhelming odds. Tentacles... are a new concern. She does not like them. She does not like how they press, and squeeze. She is discovering limitations of her armour.

The hourglass is on the ground nearby. Nothing seems to be disturbing it, she will worry about it later.

With a silent cry she strikes another of the... blossoming Navosian-Cultists. Her blade a silvery beacon in the fight.

The traitor-priest, Shaevin, dies without her even noticing.

The zombies are still going, still attacking.

What's left of them. Do these even qualify as zombies? Undead? It's hard to say. The hourglass lays on the floor nearby, at risk of being trampled in the conflict.

Still, everyone has at least one of these things on them, and Fallon, Paenitia, and Seyardu emerge worse for wear form their exchanges with them. The tentacles lash out, threatening to snap bone.

<OOC> Fallon rises from the dead, proceeds to shoot another zombie tentacled priest?

Fallon spots Aryia finishing off Shaevin in the corner of his eye, but his attention shifts to another tentacle priest looking worse for wear. Seyardu takes a step back, shoving one of the cultists away with the haft of her polearm. The holy symbol may be important, it may only be a useless focus. Paenitia wants to smash the large one outside, a little one inside that's about to be stepped on... well the little Lucht knight raises her shield and ducks under it to scoop the timepiece up.

There's a silent impact and the slide of tentacles across its surface, leaving streaks of slime. She stabs at the thing with her sword, not quite making contact.

She is successful in retrieving the hour-glass. She drops it down her breastplate for safe keeping, she'll figure it out later. GAME: Whirlpool advances the initiative order.

Aryia is getting exhausted, her punches more akin to half hearted slugs as she spends most of her energy dodging. The healing was welcome, but the end of the prayer left her strength vacant. Come on... just a little longer...

Seyardu was struggling to pull her weapon free from the tentacle. So much so that when she pulled it free, she was set off balance with a step backwards, and it was all she could do to fend off most of the blows. As she did so however, the massive, jagged greatsword from before floated behind the cultist, and with a sickening, cracking noise, smacked down on what was left of their skull, sending them crumpling into a heap.

In retrospect, the breastplate wasn't the best place to put the hourglass. It throws Paenitia's swings off just enough she doesn't manage to connect. At least it's comfortably padded between two pillows. Her backstrike is so clumsy the sword twists in her hand and she nearly drops it.

The silence spell lasted just long enough to cover up her angry words. She sinks lower, if she can't hit the knees, she will strike at their feet, and duck her head so they have the broad rim of her hat to attack.

Aryia is getting pissed off, her suddenly lashing out and headbutting one, caving a face in before punching it in the chest and shoving it away.

<OOC> Seyardu says, "surely power attack will work this time!"

The Lucht Siuils are notorious fighters. Fearless, often cautious, they are also known for two distinctive things: Desperate Swings and Blundering Defenses.

Paenitia demonstrates her variations on these well worn, often used tactics of the traveling folk. A Blundering Swing, and a Desperate Defense.

She just about drops her sword again, and is to slow at moving her shield and is raked by another tentacle. She is quite skilled at these tactics, this is demonstrably clear.

GAME: Whirlpool rolls 1d20+6: (9)+6: 15
GAME: Whirlpool rolls 1d20+6: (16)+6: 22

Despite being the last of its kind, the shambling void-tentacle-monster lashes out at Aryia and Paenitia. No success, there. Thankfully.

You're wounded enough as it is.

GAME: Fallon rolls weapon1: (16)+7: 23
GAME: Fallon rolls damage1: aliased to 1d8+1: (8)+1: 9
GAME: Whirlpool removes the timestop.

Fallon keeps his focus, in spite of his shooting so far not quite being up to par. It happens. Usually at the most inopportune moments. Fortunately, this does not prove to be one of those moments. His next arrow flies and lances through the last zombie priest's head, as if it were ripe cantaloupe. He lowers his bow and finally regards the rest of the party with a raised brow. "So... what was this all about?"

From afar, Aya waves. Long distance to Aya: Paenitia waves Aya pages: Were you able to get everything worked out for post RP? Long distance to Aya: Paenitia shrugs, "no word, not really, have some ideas." From afar, Aya nods. "Sorry that you're stuck waiting. I still need to come up with something beyond the deed mark, possibly. I simply have no idea what." You paged Aya with 'Thanks. Well no answer long enough is a no also, especially if everyone hot to trot loses interest.' You paged Aya with 'I can suggest things, but they mostly damage your character' From afar, Aya is always open to suggestions. "Also, I understand the lack of response long enough. Too well." You paged Aya with 'Ideas: Aya has no shadow. Aya has to roll a will save when Abundant Step because your shadow realm is full of nightmares. Aya takes damage punching because of absorbing some of it into her fists. Aya see's black tendrils of nothingness at the edges of her vision all the time. Aya has red hair now... because Maugrim likes red.' You paged Aya with 'Aya sees a ghostly Merek randomly infront of her in punching range' You paged Aya with 'Aya sees a blue (or grey, or whichever) butterfly fluttering around occasionally, which actually isn't there but appears when something has been lost from time or erased because of the Shard of Animus fails - will need buy in for this from Whirl' From afar, Aya laughs at the punching Merek. You paged Aya with 'that one is dangerous, because it will somehow involve punching Merek back into existence in this timeline and you'll be the one bringing him back.' From afar, Aya just thought it was humorous, not that she'd do it. :P Aya pages: Most of the others seem a bit too ...fracturing, I think. You paged Aya with 'like I said, my ideas add damage' You paged Aya with 'Red hair is fairly inocculous, or some other appearance change, like your eyes are a different colour. I don't know.' From afar, Aya nods and was looking for flavor, perhaps oddity, but nothing too debilitating. "Which seemed on par to what some were discussing as long-term effects." You paged Aya with 'how about you're all marble coloured in skin tone now, so black, and grey and white streaks'

From afar, Aya sees that Merek didn't give up on trying to snag RP on the grid today.
