Name: Saturday Night Main Event

Summary: With the tension between the merchants operating from the Arena and the Temples, the Merchants bring in mercenaries from the Adventurer's Guild to fulfil contractual obligations for their main event.

Type: Standard

GAME: Tatyannah rolls 1d20+3: (1)+3: 4

GAME: Temarie rolls 1d20+3: (17)+3: 20

GAME: Munch rolls 1d20+3: (5)+3: 8

<OOC> Lanier says, "So the initiative is as follows: Cesran, Bad Guy, Temarie, Munch and Tatyannah. I'll track the initiative the good old fashioned way, by poking you, and give an announcement about whose on deck and whose on plank."

The Arena is packed this evening as men and women from throughout the city of Alexandria have gathered here for the night's festivities. There is an aura of tension as the fights progress, and one can tell there are more than the usual number of prize fights occuring tonight. The Arena, usually full of competition from the Angorites and battle from the Korites, is pretty bereft of spirituality today.

You have been gathered in the ready area that leads down the corridor to the arena and checked over from everything from hernias to the sniffles to ensure you are healthy to compete. The general idea of the message sent to the Andenturer's Guild consisted of performers for the main events. Upon arrival, it was hastily explained that you were a stopgap measure to ensure the promoter for this event (who is nowhere to be seen) does not default on his contracts and therefore have to pay through the hoop.

You are led out to the arena, where you are each announced as competitors in the main event of tonight's festivities, at which point sponsors are also announced, as well as the promoter, who is shown to be passed out on a pallequin with a bottle of wine and a whip arrayed around him.

The announcer is very dramatic as your enemy announced for this fight, saying it was caught 'special'. It quickly becomes apparent the reason that nobody in the Armsmasters Guild wanted to take part in the match, as your opponent is none other than the slobbering, sharp-toothed big daddy of a Troll. It seems, according to the announcer, that his name is Garl. Like Carl, but with an underbite.

Be that as it may, Garl looks mad at you, as if you had anything to do with his capture, confinement, and subsequant entry into gladitorial performance art. Yet, perhaps Garl isn't up to snuff on such advanced concepts of propert attribution of blame.

<OOC> Lanier says, "Cesran. The troll is about 60 feet from the party. He's aware of you, as you are of it. Action?"

<OOC> Cesran says, "everyone close to me?"

<OOC> Lanier says, "Please feel free to discuss how you wish to array yourself before Cesran takes his turn. I need to handle something non-Funky Bunch related."

<OOC> Cesran says, "I'll cast up some haste."

GAME: Cesran casts Haste.

<OOC> Lanier says, "Can you mention how you are arrayed on RPOne please?"

<OOC> Cesran says, "I'm in the back, Munch is up front, Tatyannah is on one side and I'm not sure where Temarie is"

<OOC> Lanier says, "Understood. The troll is going to charge Munch."

Cesran sees the troll and he looks around him to see where his allies are. He quickly considers a couple of spells before he reaches into his spell component and he takes out a shaving or licorice. He speaks in a commanding voice and casts a spell. The whole party will start to move up, just a moment or two faster than the rest of the world for the moment.

GAME: Lanier rolls 1d20+14: (19)+14: 33

GAME: Lanier rolls 1d8+9: (2)+9: 11

<OOC> Lanier says, "Temarie is next."

<OOC> Lanier says, "Munch is on deck, Tatyannah is on plank."

<OOC> Lanier says, "Go, Temarie."

<OOC> Temarie says, "Can I get around the troll to flank it?"

<OOC> Lanier says, "You're not threatened by the Troll yet. With 50' of movement, you can."

<OOC> Temarie does that.

<OOC> Temarie says, "and since I moved....one attack."

GAME: Temarie rolls 1d20+9: (9)+9: 18

<OOC> Lanier says, "That will be a miss."

<OOC> Lanier says, "Pose once I'm done posing."

<OOC> Temarie says, "oh wait....another +2 for flank."

<OOC> Lanier says, "That still falls short. :("

The troll wastes no time in sizing up its adversaries. Apparently, it has no love of humanoids in armor. With a beastly roar, the troll charges the lead armored humanoid, in this case Munch. With a lunge as it closes in, the trolls sinks its teeth into the dreadlocked golem's metal scales. The crowd goes absolutely nuts!

<OOC> Lanier says, "Temarie, pose it up. Tatyannah, you're up."

<OOC> Lanier says, "Munch, I'm sorry. Go ahead."

<OOC> Lanier says, "Tatyannah's on deck, Cesran's on plank."

<OOC> Munch says, "Heh. Okay, rage, full attack. Axe, axe, bite, and then any threat rolls."

GAME: Munch rolls 1d20+8+2+1+2: (10)+8+2+1+2: 23

GAME: Munch rolls 1d20+8+2+1+2: (2)+8+2+1+2: 15

GAME: Munch rolls 1d20+7+2+1+2-5: (10)+7+2+1+2+-5: 17

<OOC> Lanier says, "The first attack hits."

GAME: Munch rolls 1d12+8: (3)+8: 11

<OOC> Lanier says, "Ok. Pose it up. Tatyannah, you're up. Cesran on deck. Troll on plank."

<OOC> Tatyannah says, "Flank and stab."

<OOC> Lanier says, "Ok. Temarie already established a flank with Munch."

<OOC> Lanier says, "So you won't be able to occupy the same square as her."

<OOC> Tatyannah says, "Ces mentioned earlier that I was to one side of Munch: <OOC> Cesran says, "I'm in the back, Munch is up front, Tatyannah is on one side and I'm not sure where Temarie is""

Munch squeels in delight. "A troll! I havn't had troll meat in ages!" The golem's delight wanes as the troll slams into him, but only a little. A mental command sends a flood of potent chemicals into the metal man's muscles, adding power to his blows. His large axe slices thru troll-flesh, the arcane enhanced backswig catching only air. The golem's jaw snaps open as he lunges foreward, nightmare teeth scraping across troll-hide but failing to sink in.

Temarie, feeling emboldened by Cesran's spell, rushes forward and tries to get behind the troll. Unfortunately her sword scrapes off the skinn of the troll.

<OOC> Lanier says, "Right. That was initial party order. When combat ensues, that goes out the window."

<OOC> Lanier says, "Munch, I'm going to allow the 5' you paged me about. So Tatyannah, you can flank this round."

<OOC> Tatyannah says, "Ok."

GAME: Tatyannah rolls 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2: (2)+6+1+2: 11

<OOC> Lanier says, "That's a miss, I'm afraid. Please pose it up."

<OOC> Cesran says, "I'm going to cast summon monster V"

GAME: Cesran casts Summon Monster V.

<OOC> Lanier says, "Cesran is up. Troll is on deck. Temarie is on plank."

<OOC> Lanier says, "Ok. What are you summoning, Cesran?"

<OOC> Cesran says, "A Bralani Azata, http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/monsters/azata.html#_azata-bralani"

<OOC> Lanier says, "Can someone roll Knowledge/Nature for me please?"

Who? What? HUH? How did she- what? Tatyannah does NOT remember agreeing to this. She has got to stop taking assignments when drunk. In any case, once she sees the troll, she steps up and around Munch hoping to stab the thing. She fails mostly miserably. This is gonna be a long night.

GAME: Cesran rolls knowledge/nature: (10)+14: 24

<OOC> Lanier says, "Cesran, acid will work just as well as fire in halting the troll's regeneration."

GAME: Munch rolls knowledge/nature: (18)+5: 23

<OOC> Cesran says, "next round on my turn it will appear."

<OOC> Lanier says, "Roger that. Pose it."

Cesran stays where he is and he starts to cast. He starts to take out a tiny bag and a small candle. His voice chants as be begins a summoning spell as the magical energy starts to flow around him.

<OOC> Lanier says, "Troll is going to full attack Munch."

The savage trolls screams in rage and pain as the weapon of the dreadlocked War Golem cuts into him. He snaps his teeth, coming up short of his intended target, but then slices into his victim with his sharp claws. Relentlessly, the troll continues its assault, already looking to tear the War Golem into his base components.

<OOC> Lanier says, "The 23 hits, Temarie."

<OOC> Lanier says, "Roll damage and pose."

GAME: Temarie rolls 1d4+3: (1)+3: 4

<OOC> Lanier says, "Munch, you're up. Tatyannah is on deck. Cesran is on plank."

It seems Temarie is going to have a heck of a time in this battle. Her Bastard sword scrapes off of the skin of the troll, but the spiked shield finds purchase in the Troll's skin...

<OOC> Munch says, "Full attack again."

<OOC> Lanier says, "Roll it."

<OOC> Lanier says, "Roll damage, Munch."

GAME: Munch rolls 3d12+24: (11)+24: 35

<OOC> Munch says, "Rageing Greataxe crits are BADASS"

<OOC> Lanier says, "The troll did NOT like that. Go ahead and pose it."

<OOC> Lanier says, "Tatyannah is up. Cesran is on plank. Troll is worried."

<OOC> Tatyannah says, "Stab."

<OOC> Lanier says, "Roll it."

GAME: Tatyannah rolls 1d20 + 6 + 1: (8)+6+1: 15

<OOC> Lanier says, "Sorry. Pose it."

<OOC> Lanier says, "Cesran, you're up."

<OOC> Cesran says, "Okay my monster comes in being and I'd like to do him first."

Yeah, this is not going well. Tatyannah tries another stab. It fails. See, this is why she shouldn't be here.

<OOC> Lanier says, "Go ahead, Cesran."

Munch makes a noise like an angry chainsaw as the troll rips into him. Which is a little hard to describe better than that, but suffice to say it's not a Happy Noise. The golem swings his blade again, the point hooking on a bit of muscle and ripping free again with a massive shower of gore. The backswing and following bite again fail to connect, in part from the fresh hole to wiff thru.

<OOC> Cesran says, "I'm summoning him in a flanking position with Tatyannah"

<OOC> Cesran says, "He'll be using his scimitar"

<OOC> Lanier says, "Munch is already in flanking position with Tatyannah. Temarie needs a flanking buddy, though."

<OOC> Cesran says, "Then Temarie."

GAME: Cesran rolls 1d20+13: (9)+13: 22

GAME: Cesran rolls 1d20+8: (7)+8: 15

<OOC> Lanier says, "That's two misses, I'm afraid."

<OOC> Cesran says, "I'm sorry I forgot the flanking bonus, should be 24 and 17"

<OOC> Lanier says, "One hit and a miss. Roll it."

GAME: Cesran rolls 1d6+8: (2)+8: 10

<OOC> Temarie thought she was flanking with Munch?

<OOC> Lanier says, "Munch took a 5'. It's ok. All rolls are standing. That was a bit of a confusing situation."

<OOC> Cesran says, "my turn. I'll cast slow on the troll. DC 20 will"

GAME: Cesran casts Slow.

<OOC> Lanier says, "Ok, Cesran. I've registered 10 points to the Troll .What else?"

<OOC> Cesran says, "Slow spell, DC 20 will save"

GAME: Lanier rolls 1d20+7: (3)+7: 10

<OOC> Lanier says, "Cesran, pose it up."

<OOC> Lanier says, "Troll is now staggered, and takes -1 on Attacks, AC and Reflex."

<OOC> Lanier says, "Troll is up. Temarie on deck. Munch on plank."

<OOC> Lanier says, "Troll will take an attack at Munch."

GAME: Lanier rolls 1d20+12-1: (15)+12+-1: 26

GAME: Lanier rolls 1d8+9: (4)+9: 13

<OOC> Lanier says, "Ok. Posing it. Give me one moment. Temarie, give me your declaration when my pose drops."

As Cesran finishes his summoning spell an elf will appear next to the troll in a position that flanks with Temarie. He has silver-white hair the color of a lightning strike and his eyes swirling with vibrant colors. He gives a nod to Cesran, "Greetings Cesran. I see that you have summoned me to do battle." Cesran nods, "Do battle Farash." The Bralani Azata takes out his scimitar and starts to slash at the troll. The Bralani Azata's first swing slices in deep and the second one bounces off the hide.

Cesran takes out a small vial and puts a drop of molasses on his finger. He starts to cast again and with a commanding word in the spidery Eldritch language the troll starts to move slower.

The troll looks worse for the wear as it continues to move in on Munch. When Cesran's elf is summoned, it seems to be surprised by the new combatant. Enough to make it think twice about attacking Munch. Attack it does, however, and the beast takes another bite out of the Golem's metal hide.

The crowd is absolutely eating this up. Some chant the names of the brave adventurer's who took on a troll on short notice where no professional gladiator would. The more bloodthirsty chant, "Garl! Garl! Garl!" The promoter hasn't quite stirred yet.

<OOC> Lanier says, "Go ahead Temarie."

<OOC> Temarie says, "Full attack again. Without the shield this time. See if it helps."

<OOC> Temarie says, "am I still flanking?"

<OOC> Lanier says, "Go ahead."

<OOC> Lanier says, "You are."

<OOC> Cesran says, "Yep with my summoned monster. :D"

GAME: Temarie rolls 1d20+11: (15)+11: 26

GAME: Temarie rolls 1d10+3: (4)+3: 7

<OOC> Lanier says, "Solid hits Temarie. Pose it up. Next is Munch. Tatyannah is on deck. Cesran & Friends is on plank."

This time, Temarie changes tactics. With Cesran's Haste spell in place, Temarie tries two slashes against the Troll's back, this time hitting solidly.

<OOC> Munch says, "Another set of full attack. Axe, axe, bite, with hopeful threats to follow."

<OOC> Lanier says, "Roll it."

GAME: Tatyannah rolls 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2: (2)+6+1+2: 11

<OOC> Lanier says, "Roll your second attack."

<OOC> Lanier says, "You're hasted."

GAME: Tatyannah rolls 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2: (7)+6+1+2: 16

<OOC> Lanier says, "Roll your second attack from your last round."

<OOC> Lanier says, "You were hasted then too."

<OOC> Lanier says, "One more time?"

GAME: Tatyannah rolls 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2: (16)+6+1+2: 25

Munch swings again, bits of muscle and tissue flopping, the golem looking more than a little ragged himself. The swing of the axe fails to connect, but the arcane speed brings the backslash catching flesh. Buzzsaw teeth at last catch on troll flesh, ripping free a few small chunks to disappear down the golem's gullet.

<OOC> Lanier says, "Now you're caught up on attacks owed from the hasting. Roll damage."

<OOC> Lanier says, "Sorry I wasn't keeping track of things better."

GAME: Tatyannah rolls 1d6+3+2d6: (5)+3+(5): 13

<OOC> Tatyannah says, "No worries."

<OOC> Lanier says, "Solid hit."

And another whiff for the giantborn. She starts swearing and tries another stab. That fails too. She screams in frustration. This is really not a good night for Tatyannah. She is not having a good time. She better be getting paid for this shit. One more time and she manages a stab. She officially hates trolls.

<OOC> Lanier says, "Not yours, Taty, the one where the troll hit the ground. Pose it up."

<OOC> Tatyannah says, "Wait, what?"

<OOC> Lanier says, "It had 12 hp left. It's basic math."

It goes down. "Take that!" Tatyannah yells. Stops, "I want to be paid. Now."

<OOC> Cesran says, "Summoned monster attacks!"

GAME: Cesran rolls 1d20+15: (8)+15: 23

GAME: Cesran rolls 1d20+10: (7)+10: 17

<OOC> Lanier says, "Roll damage."

GAME: Cesran rolls 1d6+8: (4)+8: 12

GAME: Cesran rolls 1d6+8: (5)+8: 13

<OOC> Lanier says, "Ok. It's near death."

<OOC> Cesran says, "I'll cast acid arrow on it"

GAME: Cesran casts Acid Arrow.

GAME: Cesran rolls 1d20+8: (13)+8: 21

GAME: Cesran rolls 2d4: (7): 7

The Bralanis' scimitar slashes twice and scores hits on each of them. The troll staggers about and it about to go down when Cesran takes out a rhubarb leaf and an adder's stomach from his pouch along with a dart. He rubs the rhubarb leaf and an adder's stomach on the dart before he casts the spell. A arrow made out of pure acid slams into the troll's face and starts to melt it's brains.

<OOC> Cesran says, "Just to note the next round or two the Bralanis will heal Munch using it's Cure serious wounds spells."

Apparently Trolls have discernable anatomy, and Tatyannah has discerned a weak point in the unstoppable bohemoth that, along with the hacking and slashing down by the other adventurers, brings the Troll down to the ground. The final two shots from the Bralani Azata are the final straws, with bits and pieces of the Troll flying as the scimitar of the summoned creature cuts into it as it hits the ground, leaving the crowd in a hushed silence.

With a final dousing in acid, the Trolls breathes its last, with the announcer announcing that the battle was finally over. It takes a moment for the crowd to interpret what had just been said, but when it has, the roar is deafening, with the names of the adventurers being chanted amongst the cheers and screams. Someone throws their underwear at the Brelani. Dude's underwear. Already, arena workers are venturing out from 'backstage' to take care of the mess.

Munch slumps as Garl falls, in part worn out from the battle, in part comming down off his Rage high, and in part a little sad to see a respecable warrior fall in the Arena. Sure, it would have killed him without hesitation... tried to, actaully. But it hadn't chosen to come here, and now it won't ever get to fight again. The golem starts on giving the best tribute he can manage. Taking the fallen into himself, that their strength shall add to his own. ...it's a little messy, to be honest.

Temarie smiles a bit more. "Now that is a worthwhile fight." She then looks to Munch and walks her way over towards him. "Are you all right? If you need help, I can help you back to the healers...."

The Bralanis will slice the underwear in half with his scimitar before it can hit him. "You mortals are strange." He will sheath his scimitar and he strides over towards Munch, "Allow me, you fought well metal mortal." His hands glow as he touches the wargolem and starts to heal him.

Cesran whews softly as that is over and he gathers his robes around himself. "Thank you again for answering my summons Farash."

GAME: Cesran rolls 3d8+6: (21)+6: 27

Temarie shrugs a bit, then wipes off her sword. She looks towards the crowd and chuckles a bit. "I think if it wasn't for Cesran and Munch here.....I think we'd have been in a bit of trouble." She says to Tatyannah.

Tatyannah glares at the crowd balefully. Someone, someone is going to robbed later tonight because they put her in an arena where she failed multiple times in front of a crowd. She hasn't decided who yet, but someone is paying for this indignity. At least she didn't get hit, the only saving grace. She gives Munch a pat on the shoulder and says to Temarie, "Yes, we would have been." Then, as if remembering her manners, "Thank you," to the others. She's still robbing someone later though.

Munch's magicite eyes blink at the Azata, and he bows slightly in apperication and thanks. "Your blows were keen as well. Though not sure I'm mortal. Havn't died yet."

Farash looks over Munch, "Would you like another? It was a fun battle, although I wish it had lasted longer. You are very welcome Cesran. All I asked is that you summoned me for battles and so far you have not disappointed me." He laughs, "Indeed we are all immortal til we die." He looks to Cesran, "Anything else Magus?"

Cesran looks to Temarie and Tatyannah, "We could not have done it without you either. Although it would have been interesting to try, still I'd rather have good companions as well as spell, the two go together. You are free to go." Farash bows and Cesran bows back before the Azata disappears in a whirlwind of air.

Munch nods to Temarie and Tatyannah. "Never underestimate the usefullness of a good distraction. And every blow helps. Had it stayed up for another attack, I'm not sure I'd still be standing."

Temarie smiles. "well.....I'm good with a sword, but you're better with an axe I think." She then puts her sword back into it's scabbard. "Hopefully I'll live long enough to learn a few tactics myself." She then waves to the Azata.

Munch hesitates a few moments and nods firmly. "If there is a hell for me, I'm confidant Jessa could find me in it and make it worse."

"Yes," Tatyannah agrees completely.

Cesran nods a little bit, "Yes it's best to keep the envoys of the Gods on your side, for the most part."

The sight of a war golem eating the corpse of the Troll seems to throw off the groundskeepers, as well as the crowd, who seem to cheer with slightly less enthusiasm. Quickly, the adventurers are ushered inside where they are each paid their prize purse from the fighting.

It is worth mentioning that, unusually, there are no Angorite or Korite healers on sight to offer their services to the adventurers. Perhaps having something to do with the tensions arising between the merchants and the temples in regards to the Arena. Be that as it may, it turns out the gold is real and you are sent on your way.
