Ten1 - Monday, December 22, 2014, 7:29 PM

It's a bit of a lonely street in Alexandros. Not quite a slum but likely getting there. There's still good people who live there, but those with the ways and means are moving out when they can. The streets are getting dirtier and the windows are falling victim to the window theory.

Eligar has his cloak pulled close as he rides on his steed. He has his lance with him although it's upright. Behind him on a pole his banner waves behind him. Kiroth, the stallion, high steps it to avoid the muck and slush.

What some call slums, Aevarr considers realms of opportunity. There are the haves, and the have nots. The haves provide the funds and the have nots are desperate enough to acquire said funds per other's instructions without asking too many questions. Where does Aevarr fall? Well, he is one of the others, of course. He moves casually along in search of the next opportunity.

Suddenly there's a highpitched scream coming from down and alleyway. The people turn their heads away, pretending they don't hear the cry and the loud sobs that follow. The hiccup accompanying the weak, "He-lp!" The guards seem to have better things than to patrol this particular street at the moment.. a habit that's no doubt excelerated the decline of the neighborhood.

Eligar hears the high pitched scream and he takes up his lance, "Come on Kindroth, let's go find out who needs some help." He says as he urges the horse forward into a canter to get through the crowd without hurting anyone.

Aevarr's head tilts at the scream. Opportunities come to those who are patient, but pass those who are TOO patient. A damsel in distress? Ever more reason for him to investigate, and so he makes his way towards the sounds of distress.

A little halfling girl with bright blonde pigtails and clear blue eyes swollen with tears is crying loudly outside of a rundown looking shanty shoved up against a wall.. "R-a-a-a-chelll..." she cries, "Heeee toook RACHEL!!!"

Eligar pulls his horse to a stop and he moves to get down off of Kindroth. He has his shield with him as he flips up the visor to his helmet, "It's all right who took Rachel?" He asks curiously as he looks around.

"And who is Rachel, Little One?" Aevarr inquires as he nears the commotion. No reason to re-ask the queries which the mounted knightalready made.

"He-he was BIG and UGLY and he reached out that door and GRABBED her, JUST TOOK HER." The door in question doesn't really count as that. A small halfling child might not be able to force it open, but it's so busted, it's practically see through, and a strong wind could likely blow it open. "She's my best friend, please! Please -hic- SAVE HER!!!" and she goes back to crying as tears bigger than her eyes seem to well out and splash down on the pavement.

Eligar hmms, 'Who took her? Did you know this person?" He looks around as he's a bit uncomfortable with crying females. This Rachel is important to this child, even if he might think it's a doll he doesn't say so outloud, "Which way did he go with her?"

Aevarr tsks. "And what a terrible, vile, and detestable creature he must surely be..." He steps towards the door, obliquely and as much out of easy view (or reach) or the door as possible. All to investigate said opening.

Again the child pulls her hand from her eyes to point at the super flimsy shanty door. Her tiny chest is racked with sobs and it looks like she's going to hyperventilate from the crying. "She.. she's got money.. Rachel a noble lady... please, you have too..ugh..wahhhhhh!!"

You paged Aevarr with 'Roll me a perception check'

GAME: Aevarr rolls perception: (3)+10: 13

You paged Aevarr with 'You can literally SEE THROUGH THE DOOR.. there doesn't seem to be anything within the first five feet beyond the door, no latches or ropes or ANYTHING, infact, anying contingent upon that door looks like it would be in danger of failing for the door at any second.. Beyond that though, your human eyes can't really make out much.'

GAME: Eligar rolls perception: (5)+12: 17

<OOC> Bahken says, "Checking the door too?"

Eligar looks at the flimsy door and he looks over towards Kindroth, "Sorry you have to stay here, guard the girl and don't let anyone else touch you." He leaves his lance there although he takes his banner off of the back of Kindroth and he sticks it into a harness on his back. He draws his sword, "All right let's go find Lady Rachel."

Eligar looks at the little girl, "What is your name by the way. So when we see Rachel she'll know it's okay to come with us."

You paged Eligar with 'You can literally SEE THROUGH THE DOOR.. there doesn't seem to be anything within the first five feet beyond the door, no latches or ropes or ANYTHING, infact, anying contingent upon that door looks like it would be in danger of failing for the door at any second.. Beyond that though, your elven eyes can make out a hole in the floor slanting down under the wall.'

"She isn't hiding just inside the door," Aevarr points out what may or may not be obvious. He then steps back from the door as the armored one prepares to enter. Farbe it for him to interfere with heroism. Also, he armed and armored. "After you, valiant knight?"

"S-s-sarah..." the little girl wails. She looks up at Kindroth, the tiny halfling child so small compared to the charger, but she seems reassured by the big beast's presence. She still looks distraught, but there's the faintest glimmer of hope in her eyes as she looks on the two men who answered her call

Eligar looks over at Kindroth, "Be nice to Sarah and make sure no harms comes to her." He tells his mount and the horse leans over to gently sniff and nuzzles the girl. Eligar turns back and nods as he reaches to open the door and he holds up his shield.

There are locked doors, and blocked doors, and trapped doors, and then there's just slightly wedged doors... that's this one, with a slight shove it swings open slowly. Within the shack there seems to be nothing.. well actually, there is SOMETHING.. perhaps the only thing that you can add to something and make it lighter.. there's a hole.. It leads down at a slope under the far wall. The floor of it is littered with what looks like garbage into the sewers from the smell of it, or perhaps just a refuse dump. Either way, it smells bad and leads into a dark place that unfortunately wouldn't really fit Kindroth.

<OOC> Bahken debates on making this timed...

<OOC> Aevarr says, "A race to rescue the noble?"

Eligar looks around and he frowns that someone could live like this. He moves down down towards the hole and he shakes his head, "Into the sewers we go." He says as he starts to make his way down.

<OOC> Bahken says, "Or bad things happen to Rachel..."

<OOC> Bahken neither confirms nor denies a timer :P

You paged Eligar with 'Give me an acrobatics check'

"How delightful..." Aevarr sounds anything but delighted. "Obviously, someone made their cesspool chute a touch too large..." Nonetheless, claims of money remain money, and baths cost coin. Though not much. He follows the metallice Eligar further down.

You paged Aevarr with 'Acrobatics check please'

GAME: Eligar rolls acrobatics: (7)+-1: 6

You paged (Aevarr, Eligar) with 'And are either of you lighting a torch?'

<OOC> Eligar says, "Not until I get down there, I do have low light vision, and my acrobatics check was a 0. I have an additional -6 because of heavy armor."

<OOC> Bahken says, "Oof"

Long distance to (Aevarr, Eligar): Bahken nudges Aevarr for that acrobatics check..

GAME: Aevarr rolls acrobatics: (18)+-2: 16

<OOC> Aevarr says, "ACP should be in the roll if you have it equipped, I think."

<OOC> Eligar says, "I know didn't have it equip"

<OOC> Eligar says, "It messes with my ride check."

<OOC> Aevarr nods. "Of course."

The place gets darker and more sinister as Eligar makes his way down. His foot catches on slick piece of refuse on the steep slope and he slides down. No harm done, but his armor is QUITE icky. Aevarr manages the climb without incident. At the bottom of the pile the floor evens out, though there's still quite a bit of filth, it's not nearly as slippery though. The tunnel leads forward though there are branching tunnels. Straight ahead though there are sounds.. they sound like.. voices.

Aevarr descends carefully behind the gravity-stricken Eligar. "Would you care for a bit more light, friend?"

Eligar oofs as he hits bottom with a splash and he goes to pick himself up. "Some light would be nice, I am Sir Eligar by the way, Knight of Peace." He shakes off the uck but he knows that he'll be cleaning his armor off tonight.

"Aevarr. A pleasure to meet under such pleasant circumstance..." Aevarr offers a hasty bow before uttering a simple incantation and touching the knight's shield. He said 'Let there be light. And it was so.'

GAME: Aevarr casts Light. Caster Level: 4 DC: -87

Eligar nods, "Thank you." He says as he shakes off the shield after Aevarr puts light on it, "Just stay behind me." He says as he starts down the hole and he tries to keep a look out.

The tunnel now more brightly lit shows.. well garbage.. bones and other unpleasant things. Out 20' Eligar's eyes still see clearly, it looks like their path may lead to an aquaduct of sorts by the sound of it.

<OOC> Bahken says, "Heading straight for the voices?"

[Public] Kojot has joined this channel.

Eligar has disconnected.

<OOC> Bahken says, "Oh dear..."

<OOC> Aevarr says, "You scared him off?"

<OOC> Bahken says, "Maybe he didn't like my question..."

Eligar has connected.

<OOC> Bahken says, "Huzzah!"

<OOC> Eligar says, "Sorry about that computer crashed on me"

[Public] Kojot says, "Beyond using the Notepad++ automagic log-cleaner macro and trimming the log to just the PrP itself, is there any other scrubbing that needs to be done to a log? Like, say, removing +tmap and +thelp stuff?"

[Public] Bahken says, "PrPs they tend to want more than less"

[Public] Bahken says, "If it has nothing to do with the plot you can leave it out but they seem to not mind a straight copy paste with no scrub"

<OOC> Bahken says, "Did you catch my last pose?"

The tunnel now more brightly lit shows.. well garbage.. bones and other unpleasant things. Out 20' Eligar's eyes still see clearly, it looks like their path may lead to an aquaduct of sorts by the sound of it.

<OOC> Bahken says, "Heading straight for the voices?""

Eligar continues to walk along with his shield up. He heads towards the voices and he has his sword ready. He'd rather have his magic lance, but in a pinch the sharp length of steel will do.

<OOC> Eligar says, "Yep"

[Public] Whirlpool says, "We do ask that you leave in the rolls, but we don't need the +tmap or anyhting."

<OOC> Bahken says, "Both of you give me a perception check"

[Public] Kojot nods. "I knew about the rolls, but I wasn't sure about +tmap. Thanks!"

GAME: Eligar rolls perception: (3)+12: 15

GAME: Aevarr rolls perception: (16)+10: 26

As the pair draw closer they can clearly hear a high pitched voice and a rough gravely one. "Please! PLEASE let me go!" the high-pitched voice pleads desparately, "NO! NO YOU SIT THERE AND YOU BE QUIET! DO YOU HEAR ME!?" snarls the other voice. "ONE MORE WORD AND I'LL CUT YOUR EYES OUT.." followed by the sounds of high-pitched sobs. As you get closer though, just outside the chamber, you both notice something. Eligar almosts misses it, but there it is.. transparent and moving.

You paged Aevarr with 'GASP! It's a GRAY OOZE! They're immune to cold and fire, they're made of acid that can damage wood and steel and they have a nasty tendency to grab people and crush them.'

Long distance to Aevarr: Bahken can get more specific if you need

Aevarr pages: Oh, how wonderful.

Long distance to Aevarr: Bahken suspected you might hate it :) :P

Aevarr reaches out a hand for Eligar's shoulder. "You may not wish to charge in this time... That is no sewer slime, there. It could make short work of your armor, and everything underneath."

You paged Aevarr with 'Delay or did you want to do anything else wiht your action?'

<OOC> Aevarr will delay for Eligar.

GAME: Bahken advances the initiative order. Round One - Init 19. It is now Eligar's turn! W is next!

GAME: Note Flat-footed on Eligar ended.

Long distance to Eligar: Bahken waves :)

Eligar frowns, "Rust monsters?" He asks as he's heard of them and he nods, "I try to only charge with Kindroth, this situation if I've learned anything requires some discression."

From afar, Eligar waves. So what is Eligar seeing?

You paged Eligar with 'Transparent blob thing. The room itself you can't quite make out what's going on in there. Got Knowledge dungeoneering?'

Eligar pages: Nope.

You paged Eligar with 'Then Transparent blob thing is all you get..'

You paged Eligar with 'It's about 20' off at the moment.'

Eligar pages: I'll hold ready if it comes close I'll attack.

Long distance to Eligar: Bahken nods, "With the lance?"

Eligar pages: Nope, no lance just a mw longsword

You paged Eligar with 'Ok.'

You paged Aevarr with 'Eligar is readying for the creature if it attacks.'

You paged Aevarr with 'There's about 20' between him and the slime'

You paged Aevarr with 'Still delaying?'

From afar, Aevarr will just pose. Is the slime moving?

You paged Aevarr with 'It's not it's turn yet.. but it will'

GAME: Bahken advances the initiative order. Round One - Init 11. It is now W's turn! S is next!

"DID YOU HEAR SOMETHING?!" and the highpitched voice yells out, "Please SAVE me!" "HA! YOU LIKE MY PET?!" a man appears beyond the blob in the doorway. dark eyes glitter, "HOW BOUT ANOTHER ONE!" and he gives a high pitched whistle, then his form changes, his face growing a snout and a long ringed tail sprouting behind him. The highpitched voice returns, "NOW YOU DIE!" the man squeaks.

GAME: Bahken advances the initiative order. Round One - Init 11. It is now S' turn! G is next!

From down one of the side passages there's a noise of screaming, a thousand little squeaks crying out as dozens of rats fight over each other, moving around the corner and towards Aevarr.

You paged Eligar with 'The slime rolled at you struck but missed, your sword hit and while hurting it, your sword was damaged.'

[TPK] Bahken says, "Does acid damage to objects still have to overcome hardness?"

[TPK] Whirlpool says, "I don't... /think/ so."

[TPK] Whirlpool says, "I don't know off hand."

[TPK] Bahken says, "Kay, that's the way I'm rolling with it then.. it's not super clear.. but 1d6 damage to things with hardness 10 (i.e. every metal object), seems a little silly."

<OOC> Bahken says, "If you got the knowledges I can give you more, but yep"

<OOC> Aevarr says, "Which one?"

<OOC> Bahken says, "For everything but the ooze, nature"

GAME: Aevarr rolls knowledge/nature+3: (20)+6+3: 29

<OOC> Aevarr might know something.

You paged Aevarr with 'That is a swarm of rats.. you WISH that was more uncommon than it is.. It's annoying in that if it swarms on you, you WILL get bit and that means disease and nausea. Even worse, slashing and piercing weapons are only half as effective. The other creature.. the man with the rat tail and snout, is a were rat. Silver helps hurt him, otherwise its just massive damage that'll do it. Beware their bite as Disease and the curse can accompany it.'

<OOC> Aevarr says, "Where are the rats and big one in relation to me?"

You paged Aevarr with 'Oh, and for the swarm, area affects and splash items are VERY effective (extra damage)'

Aevarr does not wish to rush into the mass of rodents, the squeaky one, or the acidic slime. Acid is handy, though. "Could you kindly relieve the big on of his head?" He then incants quickly to conjure and toss a small ball of acid into the writhing swarm of rodents.

Maybe it was that moment of distraction when Eligar finished off the rats, but the Gray Ooze slams a sticky tendril against Eligar and draws him into its clutches. Aevarr can see the ooze tightening causing Eligar's armor to crunch unpleasantly.

Just you WAIT!!!" the high pitched scream is nearly earsplitting before the man turns and runs off to the side from the door. There's the sound of a splash as the Ooze mindlessly remains.

Back and forth Eligar and the Ooze battle until losing another weapon a javelin causes the slimey cell to finally give up the ghost.

<OOC> Bahken says, "The were rat?"

<OOC> Eligar says, "Yah were rat"

Eligar frowns at the ooze, "Ugh I hate the sewers." He says as he heads off after the were rat to try to save Rachel.

<OOC> Bahken says, "Four rounds have passed, but let me give you the scene change."

As you run into the next room, you see a literal rat den on a circular dais, surrounded by the flowing waters of the aquaduct. The rat man is gone. In the room though appear to be no small amount of items the man collected and horded from the topside world. There's even a table with a tea set and two chairs. On one of the chairs is a doll with a a tiara and a small stitched name on the collar of her dress, "Rachel." The doll is tied to the chair with a dagger left on the table pointing threateningly at it. You knew that high rat voice sounded familiar. it was the 'Rachel' voice you heard as you approached.

<OOC> Bahken says, "You know which way he must have jumped off the dais.. but you can't be sure which way he would have swam after that."

<OOC> Bahken says, "Also, good job on calling the doll ;)"

<OOC> Eligar says, "I'll move the dagger away from the doll and use my own doll to cut her free."

<OOC> Eligar smiles.

<OOC> Bahken says, "You just made a little girl VERY happy.. and you'll probably find enough valuables in the rat's collection to make it worth while.. You two have also earned an enemy ;)"

<OOC> Bahken says, "A crazy one that talks to himself"

<OOC> Eligar says, "Thank you for running the scene."

<OOC> Bahken says, "Np, sorry Aevarr couldn't make it to the end.."

<OOC> Eligar says, "It happens."

<OOC> Bahken says, "Oh, I should put up an event..."

<OOC> Bahken says, "Want to give the last pose of cutting the doll free and returning her to Sarah?"

<OOC> Eligar says, "Sure"

Eligar cuts the doll free and he carefully picks it up. He looks all over for any damage, but she just seems a little dirty. He has to climb back up and he finally emerges to offer Sarah back her doll.

Sarah runs over. She almost stops as the wave of stench rolls off Eligar's armor. Her eyes might be watering with more than just tears of joy. The tiny child claims the doll and squeezes her dearly, the doll nearly the size of her.. She looks up at Eligar with Kin behind her and says sincerely, "THANK YOU!!!" As Aevarr examines the collection left behind in the lair.

Eligar smiles and nods to Sarah, "You are welcome if you ever need help please let me know." He takes Kindroth's reins to go get cleaned up.

<OOC> Bahken doesn't think you ever told her your name

<OOC> Bahken says, "I think you're Kindroth's elf..."
