Meeting Mei

Outside is a day to enjoy, a day of sunshine and light breezes. However today the temple of Daeus bustles with activity. This is perhaps not unnatural for the temple, since one of its duties is the healing of the sick which means that there are usually a great many people gathered about within it. However today it seems to be even more active than is usual. Runners, young clerics and paladins in training run from room to room, even going to other temples with important missives, and Zeke himself - a noted figure walks down the hall he is in with purpose in his green eyes. If the gentle lashing of his tail is any indication - he knows what is afoot and it has him troubled.

Seyardu was more than a bit out of place in the temple that day her training had been postponed due to the strange tension which was in the air, and so the Silverscale was shuffling a awkwardly through the temple, trying to find the sith-makar who had made the request to see her instead that day. There was worry in the air, for certain, but if there was anything she might need to do, it would be pushed through.

Not even a week past, Aya was atop Eluna's temple attempting to converse with a (possibly illusory) demon disguised as a deceased Daeusite. Today, she enters the Sun's temple, itself. The activity may make her entrance less conspicuous to some, and perhaps the other matters of concern will have the more… zealous pre-occupied.

Zeke notices Seyardu as she approaches his location and slows somewhat to allow her to catch up. "Peasssce on your nessst." It is a slightly rushed greeting as they have no time at the moment for pleasantries. Instead he motions for her to follow him further into the temple. For the moment, Aya goes unnoticed. Quickening his step again, Zeke leads the way to one room, and yelling can be heard from within it. Both of pain and of outrage.

"Let go of my foot you confounded fool!" A man's voice, obviously in distress, and several people exit the room hastily as Zeke determinedly leads the way inside. Inside the room itself is a man. His rich, dark skin is a warm color which is emphasized by the twining of roses tattooed from fingertip to elbow. The roses bloom white on his flesh, and add beauty to his slender figure which might have seemed feminine if not for the short cut of his hair and his voice which was far more masculine.

"Calm yourssself." Zeke said impassively, waving for the rest to leave and coming closer to the man. He smells... off to a sith-makar. Strange. And he is clearly wounded, bleeding heavily from his head and several other places, but most notably... his leg is broken in such a way that it looks like something mangled it.

The rushed greeting made the silver sith-makar grow more concerned, but she follows along quickly enough, into the room despite the yelling, and those who were leaving. Inside, she steps a bit further back in Zeke, as she takes in the scene.

"Peace, sir. We are here to help, if you will allow us." She says in a neutral tone. "Is there anything you could tell us about what happened? It would be of assistance."

Aya expected more bustling, the raised tensions and, yes, even more wounded, given the current events in and around the city. Yelling of feet and fools, however, is still somewhat conspicuous. Typically, she would more likely be the one opining on the Sun's children. Perhaps a disgruntled patient? In a mix of curiosity and that some seem promptly exiting that particular room, she makes her way to the doorway; near enough to observe, at least. If naught else, it might be necessary to ... more firmly render a wild patient safe for treatment?

The man's black eyes were wide untrusting things, and he scooted back on the bed as best he could. "I don't want to be here! We were attacked by celestials! CELESTIALS!" He seemed a touch wild, and Zeke made a placating gesture to him that he unfortunately ignored.

"You mussst let usss heal you. The woundsss will end your life if left untended to." Zeke knew what he was talking about, could tell by the gouts of blood the man was loosing that he didn't have long before unconsiousness at the least.

"Everyone else is dead. DEAD! I heard them talking! Your so-called healers. We're cursed. Cursed and you can't do anything." The man shuddered and Zeke motioned to Seyardu to get closer even as he himself also moved in.

"You mussst let usss try to sssave you. Sseyardu, hold him if you mussst." Zeke was a cautious sith, moving in slowly but surely while the man cringed against the wall. Trying until the last moment to stay out of their reach, and then throwing himself between them for the door. He tumbled out of the bed though, his limbs unable to hold him upright. "Help thisss one!" Urged Zeke, trying to help the poor man back onto the bed.

"And we are not celestials. We are here to help you." Seyardu say calmly. Though she was silent as they made a bid for the door, and they quickly moved into action. The man was lifted up and set down on the bed between the two of them.

"We will do what we can, to treat the immediate wounds." She says, before glancing to Zeke, deferring to the more experience cleric. "This one has various healing magics at the ready. Were you told of anything, before coming here?"

"I can assure you that I am no celestial," notes Aya to the would-be runaway patient as she appears at his bedside in puff of shadow that promptly fades like inky smoke. "Be still and quiet, before something else of yours is broken..." Her tone and gaze both carry menacing promise, if just to further dissuade him that she is not associated with the higher planes.

All the better to placate him, of course!

The man, unfortuneately screamed at Aya's sudden appearance, and tried to flee a second time. At least this time Zeke and Seyardu were right at hand. Zeke calmly gazed into the man's eyes, and the force of his stare actually stimied his patient long enough for Zeke to twist his leg. The man screamed again, collapsing into the bed in pain. "The leg issss ssset." Zeke offered quietly, but sent a short glare in Aya's direction. "Be of ussse, and get thisss one the bandagesss from the cabinet."

He turned to Seyardu. "Ssshort bursst of healing, thisss one isss ready with a ssspell that will drive the cursse on thisss man out." Zeke looked at the man in question, who had one arm thrown over his face. "You have your companionsss to thank for your life. For in their deathsss they gave usss the knowledge we need to sssave you."

Seyardu was quick to stop them as well. While short, she was still quite strong, and restrained the man's flight as gently as she could, while Zeke set the leg. Only then did she place a hand to her shirt, where an object hung underneath.

"Celestial Mother, through your compassion and this one's strength, mend this child's wounds." She offers in prayer, directing a small amount of healing magic towards his wounds, mostly to stop the worst of the bleeding, and ease the pain in his leg. <draconic>

She turns to Aya afterwards, and nods, before her attention was back on the injured man.

Aya was attempting to aid, regardless of whether Zeke (or the patient) agree on that. She has limited experience with healers, and none as one, nor the applicable bedside mannerisms. Zeke and Seyardu receive a nod before she moves to the cabinet to locate and retrieve bandages. While curious as to how, exactly, the group was able to get themselves both cursed and gnawed upon, she refrains from inquiring of those seeking to foil curses.

Zeke does not immediately take the bandages, but rather casts his spell as quickly as he can. The spell makes a bright white light emit from the sith-makar, and it flows into the man. Immediately the man relaxes, his body growing lax on the bed and his scent changing to something... better - at least to those with sensitive senses of smell.

"Why would celestials attack us?" Bemoaned the man, his hand covering the tears that streamed down his face.

Zeke gently took the bandages now from Aya and beginning to apply them to the man's broken leg. The healing and spell had not repaired the broken limb, but the man was out of danger now, and he whispered to himself. "Black-winged angels they looked like. Beautiful, injured women. We tried to help them but they attacked..."

With the worst out of the way, Seyardu busies herself the way an assistant healer would, cleaning the wounded leg as best as she could before the bandages and splinting were applied. She had learned much in the time spent at the Althean temple, and practical skills were just as important as magic at times.

"This one, cannot say. But do not, take it to heart." She says slowly.

Just somewhat she could hear the whispering, enough to pick up a few words. Black wings.

"They were not celestials.” She says finally, after freezing for a moment. Zeke could sense the distress the words brought. "Do not lose faith in the gods."

The man lowered his arm and looked at Seyardu with confusion laced with hope. "What... what do you mean they weren't celestials?" Zeke finished wrapping the poor man's leg, and gave him as comforting a look as he could manage. Yet his eyes slid to Seyardu, knowing what she meant before she uttered a word. It seemed however, that he was inclined to let her answer as he stood silently waiting for that moment. Until the man grasped Seyardu's arm with desperate strength. "Please! You have to tell me!"

"If you will relax, we will treat the rest of your wounds, and I will share what I can." She says, taking a step back for a moment to retrieve a few more supplies, only to find her arm held.

"They were not celestials, they were most likely some manner of fiends, who would treat kindness and compassion with cruelty." She says slowly. "I have encountered some like them, before, and if they are the same, you may have picked up the scent of brimstone from them. If you are capable of sharing more, then please do so, sir. Anything you would be able to tell us would be of great assistance."

"Mei. My name is Mei." The man said, falling back in the wake of her helpfulness and Zeke moved to bandage the rest of his wounds, silently directing Seyardu here and there, but really letting her take the forefront. "A dungeon of some kind appeared on the edge of the land north of here. Me and some other adventurers..."

Here his brow crinkled in memory, his eyes prickling with tears. "We decided to check it out, but those women... the fiends... they were laying on the road in front of it. We thought they were celestial beings. Injured by something... and we stopped to help them but they." He covered his face with his tattooed hands again. "It was terrible! They ate... and tore and ripped us to shreds! I don't even know why I'm alive save that they seemed to /want/ us to live."

"My name is Seyardu, Mei." She replies with a sharp toothed, forced but genuine smile. Though she was distressed by the news, it did not show in her mannerisms or tone. "I understand, their cruelty, the fiends are foul creatures. This one knows as well, what they are capable of, and emphasizes."

"But it is as I said, they are not celestials, servants of the good dragons. They may have done so, but take that reason, and make it your own strength. Due not give in to what they expect, and live for yourself, and the others."

Mei seems a bit stimied by the smile and Zeke flicks his tail in amusement, but says nothing as he finishes his task and stands at Seyardu's side to watch her as she talks to Mei. The man himself wipes the tears from his face and shakes his head. "I thought it. We all did." He looked up at Seyardu. "Thank you. Thank you for..." He broke down into tears again and Zeke pulled Seyardu away.

"He sseeemsss to trusst you. Ssso thissss one will put hisss care in your handsss. Thisss one mussst attend to the bodiess of the othersss, and other tassskss. Do you need any-thing?" Zeke looked at Seyardu carefully, trying to gage if he was leaving her too soon.

"You are welcome, but it is your own strength which will help you, and your own beliefs. am just doing what I can to help." She says, before turning to Zeke as she was pulled away.

"This one, knows what it is like. I understand, and will leave you to that while I finish tending, so they may get a proper rest. This one should be fine, and thanks you for letting me know of what happened."

She pauses, before she shakes her head. "This one does not need anything at the moment. Another time, out of curiosity, this one would wish to know why little fang said you did not like Aya."

A darkness passed over Zeke's gaze, thinking of the woman whom had come and then gone like a flash of smoke. "Do not trussst her Sseyardu, thisss one hasss learned not to." He took a breath and then spoke. "Thisss one hass heard her sssay that the People are made sstronger asss ssslavesss to the Charneth, and ssshe hasss admitted that ssshe sservess Taara. There are other thingsss... thingsss ssshe hasss done and sssaid. Mocking our greetingsss, hurting the People... Thisss one can not trussst her."

This was, concerning to hear, to Seyardu, how seemed angered most of the talk of charneth slaves. But she sighs, and shakes her head.

"Of course, feeding flesh to the point of losing ones mind is strength." she says, doing her best not to let the anger out much. "Though it has not been that way around me, this one will keep it in mind." <Draconic>

"Thank you for your help. I will finish what I can today, and write a report for the other healers."

Zeke bows his head to Seyardu, satisfied that she will make her own choice in her own good time. All he can do is warn her of what he knows. "Thisss one thanksss you for your effortsss. Peasssce on your nessst." He offered quietly, turning and heading off to attend to his other patients - dead as they might now be.
