Kyson is scribbling letters, upon closer examination. The letters seem to be introductions to members of the family of the House of Merendil and to the Order of the Griffon. He's essentially reaching out to the two groups to explain his research and his recent discovery. Royal-blue sealing wax is used to seal each letter with a brass seal of an owl's face to hold each letter closed. Only when he's done with the current letter does he reach up to collect another sheet of paper from his stack - does he realize Godwyn's joined him. There's an initial jerk - a surprised flinch that he's learning to control. "Evening...M'lady," he smiles and continues to write.

Godwyn chuckles. "Evening, master Kyson. Perhaps I should be addressing you by something else, once you're done with those." She tilts her head to the right. "Come to think of it, I should be getting to know you more, if we're going to be traveling together." Kyson glances up from the page as he scribbles out another introduction of himself. "There's really not much to me but please ask away," he smiles and finishes the line. While dipping the pen into the well he glances up to her once more and adds, "I'm not sure what else you would address me as - it's not like I'm a member of a noble house...yet. I'm just...Kyson of Blackbriar."

Godwyn nods. "And well as such should you stay that way, for it's unwise to forget where you were born." She glances toward the pendant with a broader smile. "Eluna... the Seer, Divine of Magic."

Kyson nods, "A gift from my first teacher, Master Tethys. When I left his school he gave me the amulet as something to protect me during my three day walk here from the village." He smiles a bit though his head is bent in finishing up the last letter. Once the last words are scribbled, he sets the pen aside, folds the paper and reaches for the small cup of hot wax. The cup, suspended over a candle by a brass frame, seems to be nearly empty of wax but its something that's probably used over and over in his letter-writing process. In a practiced motion, he spills out some of the wax into a blob on the page and then presses the sealing ring into the moulton pool and waits for the count of three before removing it. "There," he says to no one in particular and starts to put away his writing materials. Six letters, all sealed with the names of their recipient upon the front.

Godwyn gives a nod before she closes her eyes. "She who tends to the Sea of Mana and governs the interpretation of dreams. They who seek knowledge..." She opens her eyes with the smile returned, her features having smoothed to a mask of placidity. "...must do so with compassion and wisdom."

Kyson adds, "Have you ever noticed that the goddess of magic and knowledge...is not the same god who governs history and time. That was something that always ... well, I wasn't allowed to discuss it much at the dinner table growing up. My father was a strict Reosian - not one for discussions of philosphy and such." With his pen nib cleaned and the well capped, he can put them into the slender, wooden writing case and deposite it back into his satchel. The letters he slides into the back of his journal and starts to put it away as well. "I wonder if the House of Merendil have a patron god...Eluna, I would guess."

Godwyn shrugs. "Navos indeed is also a god of knowledge. And yet history and time are his domain more than magic. It's a lesson as much as a tragedy..." She clears her throat. "In order to calm the rage of the Sea of Mana, he gave up his compassion. In doing so however, he forgot the gods he once allied himself with and called friends. Althea, Daeus, even Eluna... yet he understands still that knowledge must be used for a higher cause."

Godwyn takes in a breath. "I am certain you are of a more scholarly bend. It's good, but remember... Navos lost his heart to the pursuit of self-perfection, the guardianship of history. In looking for what you want, Kyson... don't lose yourself."

Kyson nods, and quotes from some long-forgotten text, "Knowledge is the begining of Wisdom - not it's end. Remember the past and the future mend." Probably something he learned from his master but it just came to mind so quickly and escaped his lips that he's almost surprised he said it. "I don't really have a heart to lose," he explains shyly. "That's never really been a subject that I've explored really. I love...my magic.".

Godwyn chuckles. "The tone of your voice. The bent of your head. The look in your eyes, the emotion I saw in them when I told you that you were very much noble." She shakes her head. "You have a heart. A big one. You hide it behind books."

Kyson doesn't disagree with the paladin, but he's not really going to jump up and agree with her either. Curiously enough, for a moment in their conversation, the glowing light of his spell hanging above them flickers - almost dims as though its connection to magic were somehow lessened. "We all have secrets...m'lady," he explains with a dry tone and stretches his fingers before curling them into a fist. At the same time the light grows brighter and brighter above them until it's no longer just a 'comfortable' level. He's pushing it with his will it would seem. It's only for a moment, enough that some nearby customers have to shield their eyes before he drops it back to where it was before. "...and some are left in the dark.".

Godwyn's eyes narrow for a moment, if only to shield from the light somewhat. Then the glow returns to normal. "Oddly enough... Eluna is both keeper and revealer of secrets. Fitting, I think, for you." She sat back. "But enough about that. Where can I find this Blackbriar?"

The young wizard stretches his back a little and deposits the books from the table into his satchel, leaving only the blue-cloth bundle before him. "About three day's walk south from the city. on your third day you'll see a fork in the road to your left marked by a pile of stones. There's no sign - though I think there might have been long ago. Not much there, really - maybe three hundred souls in the whole village."

Godwyn nods. "Sounds pleasant." She sighs. "Three hundred... close knit community, most of them practical and forthright. Reosian, like your father. Then again. I'm guessing."

Kyson nods, "For the most part." He stands from the table and makes a polite bow before shouldering his satchel. "Please excuse me m'lady - I have to get back to my master. Can we continue this discussion later?" Without much of a warning he reaches a hand up to where the small ball of light is hovering and grasps it in his hand like one might capture a summer's firefly. The light glows brightly still but quickly fades.

Godwyn nods and stands as well. "Certainly. Matron guide you and Daughter light your path." She bows and makes her way toward the exit. "Tell you what, let's meet somewhere else next time!"
