Down a quiet side alley, a large brass key hangs in front of an unassuming shop. The words "Under Lock and Key" are engraved along its length. The front door opens with the chime of a small silver bell on an array of locks, locking devices and keys. On the left hand side hangs an assortment of door locks and padlocks, everything from miniscule to something better suited for a giant, both magical and plain. On the right there are lockboxes, small safes and manacles in various forms and sizes, some of a sturdy khazadi make or more ornate magical construction, including some leaf motif sildanyari things. Straight across at the other end of the hardwood floor is a polished worn counter with a workbench behind it and a wall filled with blank keys of all kinds of different shapes and sizes ready to be made into new keys in a jiffy by the owner.

Selia makes her way into the shop, frowning at the jangeling door-chime like it insulted her haircut. Peering around, the tiny Lucht eyes the assortment of locks and lockboxes with a particular level of curiousity before heading towards the counter.

Renfrey looks up from behind the counter, lifting goggles from his face that have formed circles around his eyes "Welcome to the new shop! Officialy open!" he says with a broad sooty grin. Seems he was grinding something. "Anything particular you are looking for?"

Selia steps up to the counter, reaching up to place her hands on the counter edge and standing on tip-toes to peer across the surface. "...ya got a stool handy?"

Renfrey holds up a finger and comes around the counter with a stool and sets it down for Selia "Sorry about that! I also do custom work, can have locks enchanted or upgrade an existing security system!" he says gleefully in a well practiced manner.

A few seconds later, the door opens again, to admit a much more tall and burly figure that should be immediately recognizable to Renfrey. Aldean's hair is starting to grow out, just enough to begin to form a very short blonde cap over his skull but he's still wearing the floppy hat over it anyway. He lets it half-falling behind him, catching it at the last minute in a jangle of bells and making no effort to hide his presence, and is very much all about his easy good humor.

Seeing that Renfrey is already with a customer, he raises a hand in greeting and goes to lean against a nearby corner tht is free of shelving, to wait.

Selia grins, and hops up easily. Setteling upon the stooltop, she takes another look around, and frowns thoughtfully. "Came in just ta look da place over. Don't trust most locks. But now dat ya mention it, tell me 'bout dem security systems." Low Char practically drips from the halfers accent. Glancing towards the door-jangle, she nods hello. "Don't mind me. Just askin some questions."

Renfrey waves Aldean over "Come check the place out!" he then turns to Selia "Well I can make locks in a number of styles! I also have a number of packages for entire buildings and can include magic alarms and triggers. In the case you need more robust magical protections on top of enchanted locks and alarms I can give some references." he says with a grin.

Selia ponders a few moments and shakes her head. "Locks only slow ya down, if that. Ya do traps?"

"Fair winds, mate," Aldean greets, from his lean against a convenient corner. He folds his arms across his chest and appears content to wait, although as the Lucht speaks, he flashes her a winning grin. "I ain't in no hurry, lass."

He looks up at Renfrey, though. "When ye've a quarter-mark, mate. Some sorry arsewipe tried me locks last night. Mind havin' a look a bit later?"

Renfrey grins at Aldean "Tried them sure but did he break in?! I will check it out however." he then turns back to Selia "I do not build larger traps but I can offer a reference. However locks can still be valuable! For example in the case of Aldean's locks I went for a sturdy Kkazady design which are notoriously difficult to brute force open due to a robust construction and come with additional pins, including several dummy pins. All but the most determined burglars will grow frustrated with the time it takes to unlock it, making it the perfect lock to deter casual burglary."

Selia ponders a few moments and shakes her head. Fishing around a moment, she pulls out a sheet of parchment and a bit of charcoal, sketching rapidly. "Doorframe." A simple circle. "Door closes from the inside. Turn the lever or whatever on the inside, hooks or claws or whatever ya wanna call 'em go though the door, lock onto the doorframe, bolt into place. Try ta shove da door in, ya lock on the frame, either break the hooks or the frame. Pullin ain't good, nuthin ta grab on, and whole of da frame behind ta drag. No lock on da outside ta pick."

"Do ye do that, can't lock it from outside neither, lass," Aldean points out, straightening. "Naw, he ain't get 'em, mate. I'd jes' be sure he ain't break nothin'. Left a damned lot o' scratches." His arms drop from their fold. "I'll be leavin' ye twain to it, then. When ye've half a mark to have a look, I'll thank ye, mate."

Renfrey considers that for a moment "Very possible, essentialy what your asking for is a safe door only with the crank on the inside. How sturdy are you looking for?" he says with a furrowed brow.

Selia shrugs. "Adamantine, less ya can make somethin tougher. Iffen da Dark Bitch 'erself ((The Goddess Taara)) comes knockin, want 'er slowed 'nuff can put on me knickers and grab me blade." Someone doesn't sleep soundly in her current arrangement.

While the other two are talking, Aldean with a raised hand in farewell, takes himself out of the shop in a jangle of bells, stride easy and unconcerned.

Aldean has left.

Renfrey nods "Well its possible to do on the mechanical end here and I know a wizard or two that can put some nasty enchantments on it." Renfrey waves goodbye to Aldean without moving his attention from Silia. "Won't be quick though and it will likely be more than adamantine..." he mostly muses with himself. HE pulls out a scrap of paper and starts making some notes.

Selia nods. "Be a while regardless. Need da place ta secure first. But reckon iffen talk some on da whole thing now, might get sum o' da details figured out 'fore need it done."

Renfrey finishes scribbling on his scrap of paper "Well let me go talk to some people and get some figures sorted out for you and we can go from there..." he looks up with a grin "Anything else I can help you with?"

Selia ponders a few moments, and shrugs, glancing towards the ceiling. "Wot's yer attic like?"

Renfrey raises an eyebrow "Right now? Not much but I have plans to turn it into a living space if you really want to know. If your looking for hiding places actualy, I would suggest the temple district, lots of watchful people there looking for troublesome folks if your quick enough to keep out of sight."

Selia grins. "Or helped put in a few bits after da Blue Bitch blew it up. Nice blokes, but get loud sometimes. likely I'll never visit, but always good ta have an idea wot yer options are."

Renfrey grins "Well I was also involved in replaces locks in a temple or two, the catacombs under the temple of Vardama as well... spooky but but none but the dead will bother you down there." he notes with a shrug "Let me know if you find any good places and will gladly share a few of mine."

Selia barks a short laugh, and grins. "Me good places ya would na fit. But I had na though o' da catacombs. Spooky place in da deeps, nay a place ta wander. But upper bits... worth a think. Reckon iffen ya look ta some attics, even da used ones, find yerself a few stout rafters don't nobody bother ta look behind."

Renfrey nods "Right what makes it uncomfortable for us also applies to others. Just a thought anyhow and I know some others who appreciate knowing stuff like that. I am sure we can all get along provided Alexandria's well being is towards the top of your lists of interests." he adds with a grin.

Selia nods seriously. "Dis place been good ta me. I don't mean ta see 'arm come to it." Spoken as if it's all up to her. Then again, there's an old saying about the shorter the Lucht, the more dangerous. And Selia is very short.

Renfrey nods "Well if you hear anything that anyone with a concern would want to know about I would appreciate a shout and your welcome about the shop anytime, you should meet some of the folks who do some part time work for me. You would probably get along quite well." he adds with a grin.

Selia nods, and hops down off the stool. "Reckon so. Ya can expect me in a few times ta say 'ello. But for now I best be off. Be seeing ya."
