-=--=--=--=--=--=<* A07: Local Alexandria Market District *>-=--=--=--=--=--=-

Just west of the Northern Highbridge and east of the arena, commerce blooms. Noisy and bustling, most anything may be purchased here for a price. Vendors from all cultures sell their wares from exotically colored carts, and the smells of different nations and far-off city-states mix with local ones from Alexandria and its riverbanks.

For all its commerce, visitors are advised to keep hold of their purses. Even the merchants possess a certain, cunning look. Most are positioned at carts or stalls as opposed to a formal storefront, with trade here being mobile, and visiting from all parts of the world.

Though the quality of goods suffers here compared to Upper Alexandria, the options are more diverse. Too, the oversight of the Watch is slightly less, and during times events are held at the Arena, chaos abounds. After dark, the square becomes a hangout for bards and other entrepreneurs whose business is best conducted by night; the shadows at the edges of the square often contain furtive figures engaging in their own brand of business.

Mikilos Tall male dawn elf, rosey blonde and handsome. 0s 5h

Jessa has arrived.

Elycia has arrived.

"YAH-HA! No! Mine! Down! GAH! OFF!"

Shouting and wiggeling, Mikilos does something of a little dance, as fuzzy little demons swarm him. Which is to say a littler of small kittens climb the tall elf, trying to reach the platter of broiled fish in his hands. Sharp little claws are not helping the elf.

Seated on a barrel nearby, Jessa is working her way through her own platter of fish and veg. She seems to be viewing Mikilos and his flailing as some sort of dinner show. "If you flail more, you will drop the fish!" she states in an admonishing voice. "Just give it a little bit!"

Mikilos grumbles and shoos, trying to balence the platter with one hand while removing kittens with the other. "Little bit to one, and all will want a bit. Won't be any left for me! Shooooooo! You already got the fish heads! Greedy little fuzzballs!"

"They are just -babies-. Be gentle!" Not that Jessa is sharing hers. Little discreet nudges of her foot dislodge kittens trying to get up the barrel.

Mikilos is being gentle, all things considered. Elf could punt the little mewlers across the city, but is careful not to harm any. Which is part of the problem. By the time he has one cared for, two more have gained ground. Well, gained elf. They aren't on the ground. Sorta the problem. A large momma cat louges nearby, watching. 'yeah yeah, I gotta put up with this -all the time-.' SHe might say. If she could talk. Which maybe she can, weirder things have happened.

Perhaps Momma cat is someone's familiar. "Goodness me. You are helpless. Do you need me to rescue you, elf boy?" Jessa really shouldn't make her voice so very sweet. It really makes it a bit insulting.

Mikilos grumbles more. "I'm not 'helpless'. I just refuse to use excessive force. Which when it comes to little kittens is just about any force at all. They ju-" The elf stops, blinking at a kitten clinging to the rim of the platter, noisy 'nom-nom-noming' upon a piecec of fish. "...what... when.... how?!"

Naturely, the others do not pause during this distraction.

Laughing merrily, Jessa finishes the last of her meal and sets the platter down. Sliding from her barrel, she darts toward Mikilos. Not bothering to hide a huge grin on her face, she starts to detach kittens, giving each a little kiss on the head as she sets them down.

Mikilos mutters something that likely shouldn't be said in front of small innocent ears, even if the kittens never will understand them. A fellow kitten snarling over something proves a sufficant distraction, coupled with Jessa's 'kind' efforts, to let the elf takes a few steps away. Which makes for a days travel in KittenWorld. "They just ate. How can they possibly be so intent of getting more?"

Shaking her head as she walks away from the docks, Elycia comes upon the Cat-tasrophe that has just happened to Mikilos. She gets a rather amused look upon her face, especially when she finds Jessa as part of it. However, Mikilos questions how the kittens can possibly need more food. "They're kittens, Mikilos. They'll eat as much as you can give them."

"Little growing things are always hungry. You should know that. Elves don't just spring from the ground fully grown." Jessa spends more time around children than most of Alexandria to be fair. "They don't know any better and they haven't learned how to be proper cats yet. -Cats- do their best to make you feel you have to surrender your things to them. Kittens just try to cutely plunder."

Mikilos mutters, and sighs, eyeing the fuzzy bandits a moment before nibbeling a fish piece himself, frowning. ".....cathair."

Elycia chuckles. "Doncha mean cats make you feel like you have a choice in the matter." She sys with a laugh as she gets closer. "Thank you, By the way, Jessa." She says softly as she lowers her hand to one of the kittens to sniff.

"Poor you," Jessa says in a saccharine voice that is just this side of mocking. Her arms are full of the last kitten. This kitten has started purring. "Do we need to get you a fresh dish of fish?" Then she is being thanked and she gives Elycia a puzzled look. "For what?"

Mikilos shakes his head. "Nah, I got a taste, all that I really need. Though starting to think a stiff drink wouldn't be out of line." he also looks to Elycia, curious.

Elycia says, "For your help the other night." She says smiling to Jessa, then petting the kitten softly. "I'm sure Teppus and Kuumvu would have drowned without your help.""

"Oh!" Jessa beams over the head of a sleep kitten. "It was nothing, of course. I come along to save people, of course. I knew I would save them." Let it not be said she is lacking in ego. "So you are welcome, of course." So kind. She eyes Mikilos. "Or two, perhaps?"

Mikilos eyes back. "I'd be okay with one, but if you're hinting you'd like one yourself, is no need to be subtle about it."

Elycia chuckles lightly at her 'modesty'. 'Still..." She says softly before looking to Mikilos. "I thought elves were supposed to enjoy all living creatures around them? Or have you stuck yourself in a stuffy old tower all this time?" She says with a playful wink to him.

"All right. Buy me a drink." Jessa takes the kitten, placing it beside momma with a little pat for the head. She produces a little umbrella, the sort for drinks, holding it out to Mikilos. "Mikilos knows how to live life a bit."

Mikilos snorts softly, but grins. "I enjoy many living things, far away and where they belong." Taking one last nibble of fuzzed fish, the elf sets the platter down near the momma cat. Of course, the kittens no longer show any intrest.

Cats.

Rolling his eyes, Mikilos glances around, pondering his options before smileing down at Jessa. "Well I should hope so. Fairly sure I've been living longer then the two of you combined. Though I admit, you do seem to cram a heck of a lot more living into any given day."

Elycia says, "I would say it was because we don't have the benefit of years as the elves do, but it's just how we are." She then snickers as she picks up the kitten near her, and places it near her mother. "PLus you guys don't age......""

"They don't," Jessa says, studying Mikilos and looking very serious for a moment. It is a strangely wise look on that little face, one she usually hides. Then she tucks it away again, clapping her hands and smiling brightly. "Their loss. We Lucht and you humans know how to live."

Mikilos snorts, and rolls his eyes again, motioning towards an outdoor cafe that serves a range of alcohols. "Tell that to Cousin Jo. For someone not even two centuries, she spends more time on creams and oils and I don't know what all to keep herself looking young. Seriously, she is young. However she looks, she looks young, because that's how young looks."

Elycia blinks. 'What does she do? Bathe in them? Then reapply them when she has a spare moment?" She then shakes her head. "Sorry, but if that's what it takes to stay young? I'll turn old just fine." She then shrugs.

"-I-," Jessa declares with authority, "will always be -memorable-." Which appears to be her only real metric. "I am already almost reaching my middle years as it is!" Not that you could tell on that mischievous little face.

Mikilos waves absently to the waiter busteling around the outdoor tables, making sure service is on it's way before holding a seat for each of the ladies. He does have manners. Just doesn't always use them. "And here Aunt Marith thinks I'm too young to be off on my own. Then again, she thinks that of almost everyone."

"I left home at fifteen!" Jessa scrambles into a seat and then up again onto the table. Manners. Paugh.

Whatever other horrible thing Jessa would have said will have to wait. A pair of halflings approach and call something cheerfully in the Halfling tongue. "A Muse's work is never done." Then she smiles, waves, and disappears into the crowd.

Jessa has disconnected.
