You all agreed to enter the infamous Merkebah and seek out the gobber-kaiju that dwells somewhere within the ruins. A pair of gobbers paces back and forth near the entrance as you approach. They seem ragged with concern, large eyes red from lack of sleep or perhaps even tears. But they perk up as they catch sight of you.

"Finally!" One of them wails.

"We knew you would come!" Adds the other.

Olek has shown up, and says, "I'm tougher than any goblin." He hasn't yet hears this is giant kaiju goblin. "Bring on this menace." He stands proudly at 4'2" as he says this, stroking his scruffy beard proudly.

Merek has taken the time to put on his red and black attire, with the scarf that as been adjusted about it. He checks on all of the equipment, while he takes a moment to check on his potions which he keeps with him. Then he begins to speak a few words of magic in Celestial, creating what looks like a mage shield upon him. That shimmers a bit while it takes a form.

"Yes, we have arrived," Verna notes to those anxious and celabratory of such. "I am personally curious in regards to this alleged gobber of unusual size, as well as those who seek to harness such a creature."

GAME: Verna casts Mage Armor. Caster Level: 15 DC: 16

Halani draws up from behind Olek, standing head and shoulders above him, and ties folded piece of cloth around her forehead, above her ears, the knot in the back. As the others state their desires and intents, she keeps silent. That she is here to fight is clear. The why she is, for the moment, keeping close to her chest.

"It's not a creature," says the first gobber in a wavering voice.

"It's an abomination!" the other elaborates.

"Yes! An abomination!" agrees the first. "It's demolished a dozen adventurers and explorers! You have to dooo something about it!"

The second gobber gives you a direction you can travel to pick up the trail. And in the distance from that direction, you hear an audible boom.

Olek peers skeptically at the two, but says, "I can track any gobber you care to name, if he's not a druid, I can track this one." He will head out to pick up the trail.

"Right, track it, it'll be difficult without some perceptive people to see its trail," Merek offers amusedly, while he shifts that scarf, with a nod between people in the party. He will follow along, chanting with supplication for another spell, which is divine. He seems to be waiting until they plan to begin any assault as well as planning.

"If it is as gargantuan as alleged," Verna opines, "it may well be far from difficult to locate." At the boom, she gestures in that direction. "Explosions are similarly conspicuous."

"It should be easy to find, yeah," Halani agrees with Merek, wrapping strips of cloth around her knuckles and wrists. "But if the ones trying to capture or control it are near, our little friend's tracking might reveal signs of them."

You paged (Olek, Halani) with 'You pick up the trail of the kaiju easily, it must be over 60 feet tall and now has a giant tail and there are indications it is freezing it's surroundings. You also pick up trails of 4 humanoids probably following it, three are 'medium' and one is 'small'.'

You paged Merek with 'You pick up the trail of the kaiju easily, it must be over 60 feet tall and now has a giant tail. You also pick up trails of 4 humanoids going in the same direction.'

You paged Verna with 'You pick up the trail of the kaiju easily, it must be over 60 feet tall and now has a giant tail and there are indications it is freezing it's surroundings. You also pick up trails of 4 humanoids probably following it.'

Olek hrms he says as he finds the giant footprints. "He -does- have minders, it seems. Or at least 4 others following. They might be rivals, they might be controllers, hard to say at this point."

"Signs of ice and frost, as well," Halani adds after a moment of assisting Olek. "This one wasn't told this... monster... as still growing." Rather than sound upset or put out, Halani instead seems to get a growing gleam in her eye, and she clenches her fists.

Some facets are quite conspicuous, as even Verna can note them, and she is no woodswoman. "The signs of frost suggest that it, or those following it, are freezing the vicinity. Be on guard for potential chilling threats."

GAME: Merek casts Endure Elements. Caster Level: 10 DC: 15

Merek does have on the boots of the winterland, with that he places an extra enchantment. Then he nods a bit to the party, seeming to think about it, eventually while they move in further to the target, he will then prepare another spell, this time bringing wings forth, they are black, while he takes a moment to lift up in flight along with the party.

It doesn't take the party long at all to pick up the trail, and some are able glean even more information. As you follow trail the booming grows louder, and you are sure the source must be just beyond the next hill. Now that you are closer you can tell it's not the boom of an explosion, more like the sound of something extremely large and heavy - and forceful - hitting the ground. Something so loud that the very earth vibrates as you grow closer.

"That is ... disconcerting..." Verna adds, before heeding her own advice and enduring herself against any killing cold.

"Scud..." Halani mutters as the ground shakes, getting worse even as they get closer. Before, the size was just a number... maybe only now is the reality of the size of this thing settling in. Which perhaps makes her eagerness a little more troubling. "If you wish," she goes on to say to everyone, "this one can sneak ahead bring back a report."

"By all means," Verna gestures ahead. "I would prefer to have a better idea of what we face before we face such." She looks to the others. "Does anyone have a plan in mind as how best to deal with this sizable threat?"

Merek begins gathering the power of his magic into each spell he's weaving along, though he focuses on the ones that he can keep on a while, waiting for anything else while he nods to Halani. "If you think it will benefit, we do want to get them before they come to the creature."

Olek says to Verna, "I figure it's like a tree. No matter how tall, you chop it at the bottom and it falls down. But finding the ones following it first does sound like a good plan."

Halani nods once, as if the plan on scouting has been agreed upon. She wastes little time, rubbing at a ring on her finger, exposed just above the wraps, and says the words, "Dust and Shadows." Then she is gone.

You paged Halani with 'On the other side the hill, right around where you expected him to be, is the gobber-kaiju. He is colossal. A human would have to stand on tiptoe to touch the one-time gobber's knee. The meat of a dozen cows could be his breakfast. His form still has elements of a gobber, but in many other ways he's been changed. He walks upon slightly crooked hind legs and is balanced by a lengthy tail that seems to have sprouted from his waist. His arms seems a bit diminutive and his torso is disporpotionately thin even though it's the length of a giant tree trunk. While his head is nearly half the size of his body. Sharp-toothed jaws look like they could crush one of the ruined stone buildings of Merkebah.

Superimposed upon his physical presence is a lingering concentration of power that is equal parts mana, chaos and...something else. Cold. A very unnatural, very un-gobberlike cold.

"YOU CAAAAN'T TELL ME WHAT TO DOOOOO!!" he suddenly bellows at what appears to be a cave in a hill near his feet. As he does this he stomps on the entrance, bringing it crashing down to seal off the cave.

From inside you hear screams of panic and shouts of anger.'

You paged (Verna, Merek) with 'YOU CAAAAN'T TELL ME WHAT TO DOOOOO!!" you suddenly hear, loud enough to hurt your ears. There's a tremendous BOOM, louder than the ones before, and the sound of perhaps a miniature cave-in. Also faint, now-muffled sounds of panic and anger.'

You paged Olek with 'YOU CAAAAN'T TELL ME WHAT TO DOOOOO!!" you suddenly hear, loud enough to hurt your ears. There's a tremendous BOOM, louder than the ones before along with a mix of sounds of rock and earth - somehow familiar but you can't quite place it.'

Olek rocks back at the loud voice, and, rubbing his ears, he says, "Well, /someone's/ tired of being told what he can do," the dwarf remarks. He seems a bit pleased at the sentiment.

A perhaps surprisingly short time later, Halani reappears, climbing over some rubble, no longer invisible. She sees Merek first.. probably on account of him being so tall.. but identifies the rest in short order and waves. She quickly scrambles closer. "Well, he's big." Oh, such a stellar report. Military generals everywhere would be so impressed. Using her hands to help illustrate, she goes on to describe a massive tail, a super massive head. "And he's cold. This one could feel it from a little ways away. As for the others... the monster collapsed a cave and this one heard screams. They might... uh... need saving?"

Verna winces at the voice. "Indeed. I wonder if the ...abomination caused this destruction to escape or otherwise foil those who would control it." She then listens to Halani's report and nods. "They might. They might also benefit from time spent to reconsider their actions."

Merek nods a bit to Halani, then he begins to shift his wings to full, while he maneuvers to flight along with the party. "Alright, I'll give you all a bit of support, then join in. We need to save people. If you can, prepare any defenses for energy of cold."

GAME: Merek casts Shield of Faith. Caster Level: 10 DC: 15

Halani half turns, pointing in the direction she returned from. "If we go that way, we might be able to get closer to it before it sees us. Unless you want it to see us." The jade islander gives a half shrug. "Either way."

Merek nods a bit, while he begins to land in cover, with a look to the party, nodding while he waits for any note.

Olek has no real comment or suggestions at this point. "I ought to take point," he suggests. "Get his attention, then you guys lay into him."

"Do we intend to rescue the trapped, assault the creature, and in which order?" Verna inquires. She acknowledges Halani's advice and moves to do so. She much prefers to notice it before vice versa.

"I'm pretty sure it'll be difficult to pull them away in the midst of that," Merek says, motioning a bit to the being. "I think we should get in cover, and have Olek take point, I will put a spell on you before you all move in. We need to be fast if we want to distract it to us."

"This one thinks if we get its attention, the trapped will be saved," Halani suggests, a parallel point to Merek's. "Unless the cave collapses or something like that, yeah? But there's not much this one can do about that..." She gives an uplifted thumb gesture to Olek, telling him, "This one will be right behind you."

Olek says, "It sounds like they're just trapped, they'll keep for now. The creature is the larger threat, I think." He nods to Merek. "We'll deal with them after the giant gobber is ... neutralized."

Verna nods. "Understood. I am prepared." She crouches slightly and readies to move along the indicated path of cover.

As you come around the hill to where you can see the creature, it turns it's head in your direction. But it stops and then starts to turn away again. But then it whirls around again. This happens over and over, and you can tell the former gobber is becoming agitated.

You paged (Merek, Olek, Verna) with 'He is colossal. A human would have to stand on tiptoe to touch the one-time gobber's knee. The meat of a dozen cows could be his breakfast. His form still has elements of a gobber, but in many other ways he's been changed. You paged Halani with 'It seems to have some idea of where you all are, including you who are invisible. But keeps 'losing' you for some reason before 'spotting' you again.'

You paged Merek with 'It has tremorsense and can tell where you are, even Halani who is invisible. It's so large through that it confuses itself every time it moves and can only truly spot you when it is still.'

You paged Verna with 'It seems to have some idea of where you all are, including Halani who is invisible. But it keeps 'losing' you for some reason before 'spotting' you again.'

The gobber-kaiju seems a bit confused. He is aware of the smaller creatures moving, as Merek had discerned earlier. But even as the tentacles sprout behind him and try futily to wrap around his tail...even as Olek runs around it and chops into it's foot. Only slowly do the huge eyes narrow. Then suddenly they widen again, and he gasps. For air. Halani's punches earn a swat of the tail in her direction. And although it doesn't connect her breath mists in the sudden wave of cold as the limb passes by.
