-=--=--=--=--=--=<* A07: Local Alexandria Market District *>-=--=--=--=--=--=-

Just west of the Northern Highbridge and east of the arena, commerce blooms. Noisy and bustling, most anything may be purchased here for a price. Vendors from all cultures sell their wares from exotically colored carts, and the smells of different nations and far-off city-states mix with local ones from Alexandria and its riverbanks.

For all its commerce, visitors are advised to keep hold of their purses. Even the merchants possess a certain, cunning look. Most are positioned at carts or stalls as opposed to a formal storefront, with trade here being mobile, and visiting from all parts of the world.

Though the quality of goods suffers here compared to Upper Alexandria, the options are more diverse. Too, the oversight of the Watch is slightly less, and during times events are held at the Arena, chaos abounds. After dark, the square becomes a hangout for bards and other entrepreneurs whose business is best conducted by night; the shadows at the edges of the square often contain furtive figures engaging in their own brand of business.

Ssylrath is helping Aurala put up the sign in front of Sandy's shop. "Indeed work has been ssslow. It ssseems that all the adventures are happening to others... except that dragon. I sssuppose I cannot complain."

Mikilos mutters absently to himself as he wanders the marketplace, frowning at a scroll in his hands. A small light hovers before the elf, but while most magelight are cheerful little balls of soft glow, this is a tiny pinpoint of harsh white light.

Aurala nods her head, "now that was a good fight." she says and shakes her head. She looks at Sandy, "Sure it is good before I get down?"

Pausing, Sandy looks up and over at Mikilos and then grunts. "Well, well, well. Ssylrath, that's the idiot there." She points a finger at him. Accusingly. Then to Sophia, she adds, "Nope. No complicatinos."

Ssylrath offers Aurala his hand to step off the box she is standing on, waiting patiently but tossing a curious look towards Mikilos.

Sophia nods slightly at Mikilos, giving him a slightly smile, then she glances back to Sandy, "Well, that's... remarkably different, than what one is accustomed to here, in any case."

"What is?" says Sandy, at first. "Oh, right. Well, it's just a sign," says Sandy, dryly.

Mikilos pauses, and glances around, his danger sense tingeling. Spying Sandy pointing at him, the wizard supresses a flinch, and drifts closer. "Evening. Of what am I being accused now?"

Aurala nods and moves to get off the box with the help, "Thanks." she says and then glances around.

"Everything," is Snady's immediate answer to Mikilos.

Sophia gives Mikilos a wry expression, "Which is, really, the answer you should have expected from Sandy." She actually laughs a bit, something she hasn't really done much of lately, "How are you, Mikilos?"

Ssylrath holds up one open palm and addresses Mikilos. "Peace on your Nessst, I am Ssylrath. I do not know if we have met, but I have need of a ssskilled armour-enchanter and Lady Sandy sssaid you might be capable."

Walking her way into the area, Moonshadow rubs her hands quietly and even smells them. "ahhhhhh." She says softly and chuckles, before looking around. "Greetings Mikilos." She says softly before waving to everyone else. She seems to be in a rather good mood.

Mikilos fehs, and waves vaugely. "Just everything? I've a solid alibi for at least half that stuff. If only in doing the other stuff." He grins, waving hello to Sophia and Moonshadow, but turning his focus to Ssylrath. "I believe we've met in passing. But yes, I've enchanted a number of armors. Did you have something specific in mind?" The wizard gestures, and his tiny magelight detonates, exploding outward in an intense, brief, utterly harmless flash of light.

Aurala nods, "You are most welcome Sandy. If there is else I can do for you please let me know." She looks around at the others and then back to Sandy.

Sophia nods, "And if he can't handle it, I can probably enchant the armor for you." She looks at the lizardfolk, then glances to Moonshadow as she enters, "Good evening."

Ssylrath walks over to Mikilos, holding out one plate-clad arm. "As you can see this is Mithral and hasss been enchanted several times, at least so I am told. I am hoping that you can add sssomething to it to enhance my bond with my mount." He gestures upward where his swiftclaw has been following him and is now looming, her head overtopping doorframes by quite a margin. "I am told it is possssible but the Gobber I spoke with said the armour wasss already too enchanted for him."

Mikilos glances to the swiftclaw with idle curiousity, but shifts his focus back to the armor. "The more enchantments upon an armor, the more difficult additional enchantments become. It's quite easy for the lines of power to cross in ways they're not ment to, and the whole thing becomes a tangled mess." Murmuring softly, the wizard gestures, and the air between his hands distorts slightly into something of a mages magnifying glass, giving the elf a better idea of what he's dealing with.

Moonshadow nods her head to Sophia as she greet her. "Good evening, ma'am." She says softly before rubbing her chin. "You're an armor enchanter too, hmm? Shame I have no use for armor, otherwise I'd bring you some business myself." She then chuckles a bit. "Must keep light on my feet."

Aurala smiles, "Well everyone be well, I am going to head off for a few." she says and then starts to mvoe through the market.

Moonshadow Waves to Aurala. "Hope to see you again soon."

Ssylrath waits patiently, his arm out, for the pronouncement from the wizard.

Sophia nods slightly at Aurala, "Fair travels to you. And yes, well, I do some dabbling enchantments with arms and armor, though I suspect Mikilos is far more practiced with it than I." She glances back to Moonshadow, "My talent lies in diplomacy, as well as channeling my faith."

Aurala has left.

Mikilos spends a fair bit of time peering at the armor, frowning and muttering to himself, before clapping softly, dispelling the magic looking glass. Blinking a bit, he turns his focus back towards Ssylrath. "I've read about the enchantment of which you speak, though I've never tried it myself. I'll need to double check, but I should be able to assist. Though I'm currently involved in another comission with will keep my lab tied up for a few days yet."

Moonshadow nods quietly to Sophia. "Seems so, ma'am.' She says politely. "I do believe we channel our faith in different ways. Mine is more....inward. The path of the Thinning Veil can be confusing, but it leads to enlightenment and peace in it's own way."

Ssylrath nods understandingly. "I am in no ssspecific hurry, I can wait. Do you wish coin in advance? A deposssit perhaps?" Thaliss, his swiftclaw, yawns opening her large maw full of dagger teeth and then whuffles at him.

Mikilos shakes his head. "Not yet. Best wait until I'm ready to actaully begin work. I don't anticipate any troubles, but is always a chance of something comming up in the meantime. Or you may come across an option better for you. Any case, what's the best way to reach you?" He glances towards Moonshadow and Sophia, and grins. "We've all our specific talents. Not only our natural abilities, but the skills we've taken the time and effort to hone."

Sandy pinches the bridge of her nose for a moment, then says to SOphia, "So what have you been up to? Other than being a 'diplomat'." She smiles. Slightly.

Ssylrath pats Thaliss on her scaly head. "I ssspend much of my time at Mictlan or hunting out of there or you can leave word with the Adventurers. I check every few daysss." He transfers his attention to Sophia, listening with interest. "Diplomat. One who ssspeaks for others, yes?"

Moonshadow nods quietly to Sophia. 'mmhmm. I compeltely agree." She then sniffs her hand again. "Thankfully my hands no longer smell like brain matter, but have a hint of perfume on them." She then smiles a little.

Sophia looks back at Sandy, evenly, "Mainly catching up on Temple business. I was away on... personal matters, for quite some time. But they are mostly settled, with one exception." With that, one hand drifts down to the hilt of her longsword, holding it lightly in her fingertips.

Mikilos blinks, glancing to Moonshadow. "Dare I ask why your hands smelled like brain matter?"

Moonshadow says, "When you take on a brain in a jar that animates stone statues, you punch the brain in a jar as much as you can. Thankfully, when the jar shattered, the statue's stopped moving....and the brain stopped floating.""

"Oh, /this/ sounds like a story," says Sandy to Moonshadow. "Do share!" She points a finger at her.

Ssylrath looks skeptical. "This is why I use weaponsss. Easier to clean. Although Thaliss gets into sssome very... smelly things I suppose."

Mikilos blinks, ponders, blinks again. "...I suppose that's a pretty good reason. Not typical behavior for brains in jars, but can't say as I've specificlly left one near a stone statue." Yes, there's a very good chance Mikilos has a brain in a jar somewhere. Most likely from an animal, but is a topic best not lingered upon.

Sophia nods, "Not a common form of undead, but a particularly nasty one when you encounter it." She looks mildly impressed at Moonshadow, "Not bad work, eliminating one of those."

Moonshadow looks to Ssylrath. "These are my weapons." She says holding up her hands. "Some prefer swords, others magic spells." She says nodding to Mikilos. "I make my own magic with my focus." She then smiles and nods to Sophia. "Oddly, it was like punching into sand before I hit the glass."

Ssylrath raises his hands, palm out, in apology. "I did not mean to disssparage your choice of weapons. Many of my nestmates use claws and teeth in hunting and find it good, I just prefer that ssslight... distance. It can be hard to reach a foe from ssswiftclaw-back without a long weapon."

Mikilos glances to Moonshadow. "Well, glass is sand, more or less. But I assume in this case was some sort of enchanted glass. Are a number of magics able to make it less... well, prone to breaking like glass."

"..huh. That sounds awful," says Sandy, shaking her head at Moonshadow. "A brain? In a /jar/? Who the hell thinks up this kind of shit and then makes it real?" She snorts.

"He has to be a real moron," grumbles the elf.

Sophia glances at Sandy, "Wizards. Necromancers, typically." She shakes her head, "Sadly, it's only like a two on the depravity scale, compared with some of the things they do that I have seen."

Moonshadow shakes her head to Mikilos. "Not like that. Like something was blocking me." She says softly as she tries to demonstrate. "it was like someone putting their hand up in front of their face to stop me, but I still got through."

Mikilos nods. "Could still have been an enchantment upon the glass itself. A spell to slow down whatever was approaching it. Or, could have been something else entirely. I suppose it doesn't really matter now."

Ssylrath turns to his swiftclaw when she noses him hard enough to almost knock him down. "Alright Thaliss, we will find you food." He swings himself easily into the saddle and makes his goodbyes, heading out towards the city gates.

Moonshadow says, "I don't truly know. But what we found there was interesting, at the least." She then shrugs. "Well. I should head back for meditation." She says before waving towards everyone. "And don't worry, sir." She says to Ssylrath. "I didn't take offense." She then begins to jog down the street."

Ssylrath has disconnected.

Mikilos waves fare well to those departing, and turns his attention to Sandy. "So can I ask what you've been up to, or do you need to maintain plauseable deniability?"

Sophia nods slightly to Mikilos, and glances over at Moonshadow, "I have not personally encountered a Brain in a Jar before. I shall have to ask you about that, but later... as it is, I should go back to the Temple for evening services." She smiles faintly to thsoe present, "Sandy, Mikilos, good evening." And with that, the priestess departs, though she does keep one hand lightly on the hilt of her sword as she goes.

Sophia has disconnected.

When Sophia departs, Sandy glare safter her and then just grunts. "Sounds ridiculous," she repeats to Moonshadow. Just saying.

Mikilos shrugs. "Does make a certain sort of practical, if somewhat vile, kind of sence. If the brain is all you need, no reason to waste resources supporting the rest of the body. Though personally I believe the rest of the body supports the functions of the brain, and thus is vital for good mental health."

Moonshadow has left.

Sandy makes a rude gesture in Mikilos' direction, anyways. She sniffs.

Mikilos snorts, and grins. "Not in public, but thank you for asking." Rude gestures can mean a range of things, espically if you take the translations literally.

"I wasn't asking. I was calling you an ass," says Sandy, dourly, but then she turns on her heel and makes her way to the Moon.

Mikilos laughs, and waves. "Well, I'm not calling you anything. But I am wishing you to fare well. I should be getting back up to the shop."

Elessa has arrived.

Sandy is just heading back towards the Moon. She seems grumpy.

Mikilos is headed off the other direction, muttering to himself aobut wizardly things. Well, most likely.

Elessa has been out of the city for a while, and is finally back. She needed some time away, back to see her family in the Vast.

Sandy stops when she spots Elesssa out of corner of her eye. She tunrs towards her and points a finger. "You!"

Elessa looks up and gives a smile, "Hey Sandy. Sorry I've been gone for a while."
