We don't need no Civil War. Sadly for Captain Axel that is exactly what they have got. The red haired dwarven officer put out word for those who are keen to help to report to his office. Such as it is, what was a large home has been turned into a makeshift HQ for the royalist commanders. For those who have met him before he looks even more harried, which in dwarven terms means a few beard hairs out of place. Before him on a kitchen table that has been requisitioned for a desk lies a map with some rough anotations that he is adding too as he awaits the adventurers arrival

The human before you is six feet tall, looks to weight probably just at 170 lbs or a tad over and has short blond hair and bright blue eyes. He has a bearing that hints he may be some kind of noble since he always seems to be standing or sitting as if he is on display. His clothing is well kept and expensively tailored. He appears to be wearing a chain shirt and at his side is a longsword.

Standing at over five and a half feet, this Arvek is fairly physically imposing, despite being clearly overweight and stoop-backed. His arms and chest bear a solidness that hints at muscle under the fat and beer gut, built from a lifetime of hard, heavy labor, and the burn-scars that streak across his red-orange skin hint at the origin of that labor. His gait is a laconic, unhurried swagger, that gives a sway to the tips of his ears.

His hair is black and shaggy, covering his jawline in coarse hair and connecting with a thick moustache that traps his small tusks against a large, protruding chin. Given the stiff-brimmed black Stetson he habitually wears, his eyes are thrown into shadow enough that his chin is his most recognizable feature; that, and the lit cigarette constantly hanging from the corner of his mouth.

For clothing, he seems to have adopted a fashion more brutal than the average Arvek; a sturdy leather vest, black and covered with square spike-studs at the shoulders and the emblem of Reos sitting proudly at the center of his back, with the word HAMMERFAUST embroidered beneath in large, spiky letters. Beneath is a plain peasant's shirt, sleeves bound by black leather bracers studded like the vest, and rough black pants covering the tops of his steel-shod boots. Strapped to his back, likely contributing to his stooped posture, is a bulky artifice device, with two tall square things rising off the shoulders, and cables leading to a metal contraption that may once have started life as a lute, but all in iron and steel, with strange bottled-lightning devices on the bottom of the bowl, and a complicated-looking attachment at the end of the neck.

Fayde the adolescent cosmic sorcerer<tm> is nomming on a big piece of cornbread loaded with butter. Scrawny as he is, it can't hurt him. He's quiet with his staff leaned against his shoulder waiting for the meeting to get under way.

Kevan has just reciently joined the fight here in Dun Morden, he looks around at the others here, giving a nod to them. "Good day. I am Kevan and I would like to offer whatever assistance I can give in this matter." He inclines his head in a respectful manner, both to the Captain and the others here.

Miruan has been here awhile. She smiles politely to Kevan. "Hello there. I am Miruan Lionbough," She places her palms together and bows. "It is a pleasure to meet you." She arrives, seeming a bit surprised. Dwarves must have the highest beard to body weight ratio. She looks politely to the commander. "Sir."

Eilrie comes riding in the shoulder of a large, ambulatory tree. The tree strides along as the elf on its shoulder is reading a scroll, glancing up to direct the tree towards the HQ in question. She peers down from her lofty perch and frowns.

"We here to jaw," comes a slightly raspy voice from the corner, where a thick-set Arvek leans, fiddling with what must once have been a lute, since thrown into an artificer's shop and shaken about, "or we here to get somethin' done?" A plume of smoke billows from underneath the arvek's black hat, as a string is lazily plucked to test its tune. "Cos I seen enough starvin' faces out there, ain't much for screwin' about."

Axel grunts in response to all the pleasantries, perhaps his version of a polite greeting "Right now...what in the name of Reos's molten cock" he pauses looking at the Female Elf in a mobile tree. Shaking his head he mutters something in Khazad and clears his throat "...as I was saying we have done a good job evacuating civilians and loyal troops to the city centre, and pushing outwards. But seems someone forgot we need to fucking feed people. Which is where you come in" he says, casting a glance around the group and resting on Sully with a snort "Out of the mouths of babes and Avek. There is a storehouse here..." he says pointing to a place on the map "...we got wagons and teamsters but can't really shake off many soldiers. So in short, we need you to get the wagons there, guard them as they are loaded and get them back. We hope their won't be any opposition, but no bloody idea when it comes to it. All kinds of shit stirred up by the traitors. Anyway any questions?"

Fayde has disconnected.

Watch System: Fayde has disconnected.

Watch System: Fayde has connected.

Kevan smiles and pats the longsword at his side. "My blade is ready to serve, I shall ensure that I will do all in my power to protect your caravan so that the masses may be fed." He gives a big smile, he seems a bit...enthusiastic.

Fayde tucks the remnants of his meal away in a burlap pouch beneath his cloak and shakes his head,"No sir, keep up with the wagon and severely traumatize any troublemakers we meet. I prefer burning them, myself." He nods at that point.

Blink. Miruan just smiles faintly at Kevan. Cheery fellow. She takes a deep breath and pauses. "..." Burning. Right. She tries not to think about that too much. "I will do my best to look after the wagon," She promises.

Eilrie patpats the top of Galadh's... head? She says in an elvish accent "We will help. Where do we need to go and when do we need to start?"

GAME: Eilrie refreshes spells.

The Arvek pushes off the wall, replacing the instrument onto the side of the great, boxy looking artifice contraption strapped to his back. "Start as soon as we've got the wagons," he says, as though it were obvious. "Don't worry none, Lieutenant. Your folk'll get their food."

GAME: Fayde refreshes spells.

GAME: Sully refreshes spells.

Axel eyes Kevan for a few moments, then grunts again. That done he looks to Fayde steadily for a moment "Try not to kill any Khazad if you can. Traitors of not their just ain't that many of us. Still if you have no other choice..." trailing off her shrugs his heavy shoulders with a clatter of armor "Wagons are gathering outside, they have maps and know the way. And right away. Sooner you get there and back the sooner we can eat."

The teamsters are a hard looking lot, even for dwarves. For those without mounts seats are found in the empty wagons. And with much cursing and smacking of diggers the caravan gets going into the mostly dark tunnels. There are echoing sounds of fighting that carry through the caverns and tunnels, the taciturn teamsters getting a little nervous as the caravan moves to the outskirts of the city, the roadway tunnels narrowing a little and with cross-tunnels that make for good ambush spots.

Kevan will find a spot on a wagon, smiling at the dwarf driver. "Hello, I am Kevan, I am here to help you." He looks around, then squints a bit. "Of course, I may need someone to give me better light, as I do not have as great a vision in this situation as some others here."

Eilrie stays on her tree's shoulder, keeping her eyes peeled for any problems. When it gets dark, she hands her friend a glowing rock. It throws it up in the air and it hands over one shoulder to illuminate the area. She checks her many weapons, but finally draws a large bow and holds an arrow to the string in readiness.

"Nice to meet you, Kevan." A beat. "Here, I've a torch and a sunrod," Miruan offers. She is a monk prepared! If needed, Miruan has her own light warhorse. A gelding named Sir-Trots-A-Lot. He likes bit-- Nevermind. Nevertheless, whether by horse or a seat on the wagon, she will be with the others.

Fayde studies his compass as they go, riding in one of the empty seats as they go. He looks to Kevan as he comments about the lack of light and offers,"I'll provide assistance if we end up in trouble. Ive a light spell handy." He nods curtly at that,"Likewise, my spells tend to be...illuminating."

Sully tugs his hat down to shade his eyes, as lights bloom for the convenience of nearly everyone else but the dwarves and himself. "...Well if they didn't know we were coming before..." Standing up on the wagon, he rests one foot on the edge of the cargo bed, pulling some yellowish-glowing artifice contraption out from a pocket on the pack, screwing it to the top of his instrument's neck. "Someone planning on setting out the bloody tea service, too?"

Eilrie looks over at Sully and says "It sounds like you have volunteered for that role. Please, that sounds lovely. I hope you know how to pour properly."

Kevan smiles, "I'm quite fond of Alexandrian Grey myself, mother served it to all her best guests."

"My name is shutupfancypantssurfacer" grunts the surly wagon driver in reply to Kevan. The diggers move as fast as they can, seemingly nervous as they pass through several nice ambush spots. The drivers at least are familiar with the route, pausing for a few moments at each spot to look around before moving through hastily. The tension seems to draw the journey out forever, but at last the caravan starts to come to a larger cave, one that is illuminated by sunlight from a shaft above, so allowing a range of crops to be grown. Looks like it has been harvested, or at least there is nothing in the fields, but there is a big barn type building and another perhaps for workers accommodation. All however seems deserted and quiet.

"Tea is nice," Miruan agrees. "I haven't pulled my lights, but most of us can't see in the dark," She offers quietly. The monk seems apologetic, but concerned. She sort of winces but tries not to show it at the driver's response to Kevan.

Kevan straps his buckler to his left arm as they travel, then keeps an eye out for any dangers. When the finally stop, he will hop down and peer about, though he fails to see any danger. "Well, perhaps we shall have a safe journey, all seems well here."

Fayde hops off the caravan, though doesn't share Kevan's optimism as he readies a Shield spell just in case. If there is an ambush, it will usually be shortly after arrival after all. "Better safe than sorry, don't assume anything!" He nods affirmingly at that.

You paged MAC-B1G with 'Possibly need to update your offset in the light of daylight savings? :('

"Looks quiet," Sully muses, hopping off the wagon and landing heavily, taking a deep drag from his cigarette. "I hate quiet." Rapping on the side of the wagon to get the drover's attention, he nods to the cave wall. "Might be you wanna find someplace out of sight while we check it out, yeah?"

Eilrie quietly recites a prayer as she rests her hand on Galadh, then nods to herself. They slowly advance as she keeps her eyes peeled.

GAME: Fayde casts Light. Caster Level: 5 DC: 15

Kevan looks at the others, then starts to follow them. "Let us investigate then, I am sure we can take care of any dangers that may be here."

Miruan is looking around, as she watches and moves with the others. Miruan is surprised by the fighter's cheery optimism. Her dark blue eyes are alert, and thoughtful.

Fayde rubs his palm over the end of his staff and upnods the others as it starts to glow with the luminosity of a torch."So. Barn is it?" He smiles slightly as he shoulders it with his right hand, the left flicking in a twitch motion that seems to ignite it with silvery flame. His magic is at the ready.

Eilrie locks her knees into Galadh's shoulder and has her long bow readied from her high perch. Galadh reaches one branch up to keep her locked into place and steadied.

Keven smiles at the others, and draws his longsword. "Very well, I shall enter first if no one else wishes. Let us go!" He heads for the barn to go inside.

"Son, you sound like you ain't been in enough fights to know better," the Arvek mutters from the back of the party. The instrument, however, is held very nearly like one might ready a rifle, thumb sliding over the coiled-metal strings as he peers from the shadow of his hat. "Think about keeping the fire away from the food, too."

And as the bold Keven heads in he finds inside the barn amidst the filtered is a horrible sight.......barrels and boxes and bails of assorted foodstuffs, and ready to be picked up and carted off to wherever.

"Aye," Miruan nods to the others. "No fire around the food." Mir keeps her sunrod up, and follows just beside or behind Kevan. The monk is glad to help. She seems quietly amused by the group, but she looks about.

Fayde shakes his head at the food left lying about,"We need to check the barracks. This isn't right." He shakes his head some more and and starts off in that direction.

You paged Sully with 'As in through slats and windows'

You paged Sully with 'Oops :P'

Kevan looks around the barn for a moment, then nods. "Yes, we should continue to examine the area. It would be unwise of us to simply assume all is well, our poor dwarven caraveneers may come to harm if we are not vigiliant."

Eilrie keeps to a spot where she can see everyone and scans for any possible threats. With her bow, she can reach out and touch people from quite the distance.

Sully seems to have run out of anything to say, but by the set of his jaw, he does not trust the silence of the barracks any more than Fayde does. Stubbing out the remains of his cigarette, he replaces it with a fresh one... and scraped a thumb-claw down one of the guitar strings, producing a small arc of electricity from the device at the instrument's neck, that sets the tobacco alight.

Fayde makes his way to the barracks, stopping a short ways away to scan his surroundings in earnest. He works a magic detection cantrip signified by a silvery shine to his slightly narrowed gaze.

GAME: Fayde casts Detect Magic. Caster Level: 5 DC: 14

You paged Fayde with 'No magic'

Miruan is up to the front. She looks between the group, peering into the barracks once they've examined the barn. She looks to the dwarves nearby, before peering more intently into the barracks. The silence makes her uneasy.

Kevan turns to look towards the barracks, "I will venture forth first if you all wish, I trust you will all have my back so I shall have no fear of what may lie in wait." He smiles and heads right for the barracks.

The barracks shows signs of being perhaps somewhat hastily abandoned, beds unmade and the like but again their is absolutely nothing dangerous in there at all. Meanwhile growing impatient the wagoneers are heading towards the barn, letting the party handle any security issues they just want to get loaded and out of there.

"So we're clear," Sully says, frown deepening, "there's a barn fulla food out there, just waitin' to get delivered. An' a bunkhouse fulla folk, ran off in a hurry. But you chase folk off, you're gonna want what they left behind. So what's all the food doin' just gatherin' dust?"

Eilrie gestures Galadh to carry her to another spot where she can keep an eye on the wagoneers and the rest of the group. She keeps scanning with her bow ready. She doesn't seem to have much to say, just listening and watching.

Fayde is focusing hard on detecting anything eldritch that is out of place or otherwise threatening, leaving the detection of mundane problems to the rest of the party since he's the magical muscle tonight. He senses his shield spell nearing the end of its life so refreshes it while the obvious question is being considered.

GAME: Fayde casts Shield. Caster Level: 5 DC: 15

"I thought we were to help them bring this back?" Miruan seems confused. The monk furrows her brows. She shakes it off, to explore and search.

Kevan pers around the barracks for a moment, then turns and smiles, "It appears all is well!" He starts back towards the wagoneers. "I will stand guard as they load, and we shall depart swiftly."

The head teamster offers a grunt in reply to Kevan's bold declaration as the dwarvens begin to carry the various containers of foodstuffs to the awaiting carts. They move with a practiced speed and efficency but still time draws out as there is quite a bit to get out, and of course playing tetris to fit it all in the awaiting carts.

Eilrie calls out in Tradespeak "Who goes there?" She then draws her arrow back and takes aim... (Held action to fire.)

"'Bout what I thought," Sully grumbles as he catches movement out of the corner of his eye, pointing the head of his instrument down the tunnel. "Would do that if I were you, buddy!" he calls, tilting his head to one side until joints audibly pop. "You're 'bout to bring down a world of hurt on y'selves."

GAME: Yngvild rolls 2d4+2: (5)+2: 7

The sudden appearance of the dire wolves has Sully's attention, to be sure. Letting his instrument hand he rolls his shoulders -- activating some sort of hidden switch on the bulky gear he carries -- and retractable armor plates lock into place, covering his hands in heavy, scarred steel gauntlets. The box-like pieces of machinery behind his shoulders rises slightly, cracks and seams flickering alight with a pulsing bass thrum and angry red light. "That's enough of that," he says, raising both fists and bringing them down in a savage double-strike. The wolf is nimble enough to avoid one, but not both, and the crack of damaged bone is almost drowned out by the creature's cry of pain.

Kevan gets to his feet, and moves closer to the dog, "Bah, this is just a mere flesh wound, I shall not fall so easily!"

The remaining dire wolf lets out a nasty sounding growl and launches itself at the dexterous form of Miruan. Who neatly manages to avoid its slavering jaws that close on thin air with a loud snap.

With one wolf down, only one remains to be dealt with. Once more, Sully's heavy, iron-shod fists swing toward the remaining wolf, one impacting with a solid, meaty *thunk.*

The archers continue their work as the dire wolves start to fall. Sadly, for this one at least, the shot goes wide, sailing over the heady of Sully and off into the farmland.

Eilrie is focused like a hunter as she takes aim at the figure she knows is the Wizard. Releasing the arrow, it sails through the air and punctures his shoulder! To make things worse, her Tree Friend reaches over and sweeps the wizard into his branch-like arms and pulls him in for a hug. She gives a savage smile "He's mine! We'll get some answers out of him. Fayde clenches his fist with his staff before him as if a shield. After a moment, that clenched fist wreathed in silvery fire is overflowing with silvery sand and dust, and at that point he thrusts it towards the archer that just shot Eilrie where it bursts in the sniper's face! He offers the man a salute of his own that the bedazzled archer likely can't see.

The newly fabulous arcehr staggers around, almost dropping his bow. He paws at his eyes and somehow manages to clear his gaze. Which he levels murderously on Fayde.

It is now S3's turn! BM is next!

With the wolves taken care of, Sully tugs his instrument back into place, twin plumes of smoke billowing from his nose as he turns to regard the glittery sniper. "Y'look like an idiot, buddy," he grunts, fingers beginning to dance over the strings. The sound that skirls from the boxy contraption on his back is distorted, harsh, like a steel wasp battering itself against a glass plate. The glass tubes along the bottom of the instrument begin to glow, and with a screaming high note, lightning cracks from the device at the end of the instrument's neck, scorching a line across the blinded archer's cheek.

You paged Kevan with 'All the same to me, I think the one to the side will be easier on my brain. Cheers'

GAME: Yngvild rolls 1d20+3: (11)+3: 14

Fayde shifts his tactics in dealing with this sniping situation now that he's turned his attention to the one hiding behind the animated tree. He doesn't want to blind a team member, nor does he want to injure a potential prisoner so he raises his hand, palm up, towards his target. A trio of motes of light twirl around each other as they rise forth then streak forth to slam into the sniper. They literally maneuver around the tree to avoid him completely in finding their mark.

The one forced into melee by the rather more skilled Kevan drops his bow and draws his longsword. For a fencer he makes a great archer, his somewhat clumsy blow easily avoided.

GAME: Sully casts Enlarge Person. Caster Level: 2 DC: 14

Sully 's hat tilts to one side, as Miruan tries and fails spectacularly at putting the fear of fist into the archer. "...Missy, if you're trying to scare folk..." Sighing, he plucks the cigarette out of his mouth and flicks it away. "....Just watch." Crouching down, he flexes his heavy iron-clad fingers, and slams a palm onto a large red button at the upper chest of his armor. And then, he start running toward the last remaining combatant. With every step, the heavy Arvek grows larger and larger, his thick mustache rising above a wide, tusked grin, and by the time he comes within reach of the poor archer, the artificer is double his normal size. "~Hi.~"

The archer is about to reply to Miruan, probably something obscene as the elf does not look that intimidated, either way the reply of the downed sniper is cut off as the Swashbuckler stabs the almost helpless humanoid, his blood splattering the boots of those around him.

With the archer surrendered, the utterly swole hobgoblin crouches, resting giant, iron-clad fists on either side of the elf's head. Leeeeeeeeaning down far enough for the colorless, shadowed eyes to be visible underneath his hat, Sully grins. "You sorry yet, buddy boy? Cause if you ain't... "... yeah, you're way better than me at that," Miruan concedes to Sully. "Anyway, most of them surrendered, so that's a plus. I'm - going to help either tie them up or carry some goods to the carts," She offers.

The elf is pale, but he manages to spit out something that sounds fairly unpleasant sounding in Elvish. As much as anything can sound unpleasant in that language.

For their part the wagoneers emerge from where they were sensibly hiding away and start to tie down the cargo, although they do look a little askance at the party and stay even more silent than usual.

You paged Fayde with 'He said "At least we don't shoot people in the back, or the helpless"'

Fayde strolls over to the group with his staff shouldered once more,"Well it wasn't perfect, killed the other one but two isn't bad is it?" He then scoffs at the sniper in his tongue.

The elven captive sneers at Fayde but stays silent and cooperative as he is tied up and bundled along with the unconcious wizard atop some supplies.

Sully slaps the button on his armor again, and flips open a compartment on his pack, spooling out a length of rope and setting to the business of binding the elf's wrists to the elbow. Once the elf is taken care of, he starts hauling supplies, as the Arvek is never one to shy away from work needing done.

Fayde returns the sneer,"Coward sniper." Then sniffs derisively,"But enough about that, food delivered and job done."

Kevan wipes his blade clean and sheaths it. He sighs, "I do not really regret the loss of life, I regret thier choices that led to the loss. It is a pity that they took the path that ended here."

One the cargo and captives are secure the wagoners head off. They keep a careful eye out but the trip back is uneventful.
