It is a calm and peaceful afternoon in the city, but that calm suddenly ends as screams fill the air. Among the cries a voices echos, "It is a dragon!" Then several roars fill the air, as not one but multiple dragons fly over the city.

Belladona has come into the city to visit the garden and she blinks as she sees the multiple dragons flying over the city. She strains her eyes to see what color they are. She cups her hands over her eyes and her lioness animal companion growls softly. Belladona looks down, "I know I don't like it either." She says as she takes off her shield and puts on her claws before she heads in the direction of the dragons.

Orion looks up to see the dragons flying over the city, "That is not usually a good thing." Orion now summons his mount. "Zilla!" A swiftclaw now appear next to Orion then lets out a loud roar. Orion pets his mount then says to it, "Looks like it is going to be one of those days today." Orion now goes with his mount to where the dragons are flying to.

Duncan pulls a bow out of his pack and scans the skies. "Is it white??" he cries out, before regaining his composure. He howls for his Digger, and moments later the large landshark is at his side.

Smythly pauses. A dragon? The cries are enough to cause him to make his way there. He might be easy to miss on the back of his bear, but there he is. On the back of a bear.

Really.

Cressida is relaxing in her inn room when the dragons fly overhead. Whatever is going on, she wants to see it, so she grabs her gear, straps on her buckler and slings her crossbow over her shoulder and heads in the direction of the dragon at a job.

There is chaos all over as the dragons fly by and smash and knock things over. Two medium sized black dragons land in the street and start smashing up a merchants chart. Another dragon lands by on a near by roof of a building and looks down towards the group of adventurers that seem to be gathering near by.

Benthus was deciphering a religious scroll somewhere in the temple of Daeus when people outside begin yelling that there are dragons flying overhead. He rushes outside the temple only to see empty skies. A person nearby calls to him and points to the direction where one of the dragons is located. He nods to the person and proceeds to summon his ally. Bent on one knee with fist pressed on the ground, he silently utters the encantation to bring forth his special stead. A portal materializes in front of him and a griffon steps out. The magical creature looks at him, eyes narrowed in what appears to be irritation. The paladin raises his head to look at the creature and says, "Once again, I am sorry for calling upon you too soon. I know that you need time to get your strength up, but at the moment, danger is upon us." He rises and places a hand on its neck. "I need you help, my dear friend. Join me as we go into the fray once again." The majestic beast raises its neck high thoughtful, and then bends it with eyes closed. It chirps once and then turns towards the direction where the trouble is brewing. It flies into the air, as Benthus runs towards the site of conflict.

Someone called them dragons, and they definitely are large, scaly and got wings so must be dragons! Though Cressida, Orion and Smythly notice something a little off, in that the dragons have sharp barbs along their tails which drip a strange liquid.

">..I... don't think that's a dragon," says Smyhly from the back of his bear. He looks cofnused for a moment. "Whatever it is, it's not good!" He grabs hold of his steed's reigns. "Muddy! Prepare yourself!"

The bear burps.

Cressida catches sight of some familiar faces as she runs towards the site of the dragons touching down, waving over the other adventurers to talk. She nods to Smythly's observation. "It looks like they've got barbed tails. Could be poisonous. Or acidic. Be careful there. But, we'd better do something about them before they cause too much trouble.

"THey may be intelligent. Perhaps we could negotiate?" says Smyhthly, hopefully. It seems unlikely to him, though.

Benthus draws out his bow and arrow and nocks one into readiness. He sprints, steel-toed boots clanging on the pavement, towards the location of monsters. He looks up from time to time as his magical companion shrieks at him, telling him where he should go. The griffon flies from one roof top to the next, waiting for his human companion to catch us, all the while informing him via shrieks of what is happening ahead. The paladin would have had a harder time heading towards the location if not for his aerial partner, guiding him to the streets that are not blocked by overturned stands and abandoned wagons. Soon, the paladin and his mount arrive at the scene. But there are others already there, people who are not afraid to deal with the danger that the flying monsters may unleash. And so Benthus salutes them and asks, "What is the situation?" Having not seen the creature at all and still assuming that it is a dragon.

One of the beasts lets out a roar and charges straight at Orion and bites deep into him, while the other charges towards Duncan and just misses. However, the third flies over top of Orion and Duncan, and reaches down to bite into Duncan as he passes over head and lands on another near by building.

Cressida stands her ground as the beasts set upon them, buckler ready to deflect any incoming attack. Hopefully. She gestures towards the one flying overhead and starts her incantation, finishing as it lands and letting loose a searing ray, hitting it directly and searing it noticably.

Benthus watches as the dragon-like creatures begin to attack those who have come to investigate. He calls to his god for assistance and is answered by a shimmering light covering his body. He thanks his god and pulls on his bow's string, ready to fire.

Orion heals some of the damage done to him, he then swings and misses with his attacks, Zilla tries to bite and claw the creature but it misses as well.

Seeing his fellow paladin in trouble, Smyhtly bolts forward towards Orion, "I've got you, Orion," he booms, face stoic. And booming for a Goblin is still kind of pip-squeaky. He rushes in, though, and brings his hammer to...bear on the wyvern. "Get him, Muddy!"

Duncan exchanges his bow for a waraxe, but his first hasty blow bounces off of the wyvern's tough hide . The Digger opens its jaws wide but the snap shut on air. Both mount and rider growl, the sounds hard to tell apart.

The wyverns start to chop and bite, and swing their wings around wildly as their barb tails swish though the air as they attack. One gets a bite against Duncan, as the third flies back over top of the group and his tail strikes down at Smythly's head but misses.

Benthus fires two arrows in quick succession at the wgvern on top of a building but misses both.

Cressida reaches down to her belt, grabbing hold of the rod hanging there as she starts to incant again. Her spell completes and a ball of fire forms, bouncing off the back of the wyvern in combat with Orion and Smythly, leaving it to cry out in pain as it is singed.

Orion attacks and misses the wyvern once again, he does briefly look to the Smythly "Thanks for the backup." Zilla is able to hit the Wyvern with a claw attack doing a little damage to it.

Duncan focuses his attention on the Wyvern he's facing. He raises his waraxe high, holding it with one hand as Khazad are known to do. When he brings it crashing down it shears into the Wyvern. The blow distracts the monster long enough to give his landshark a chance to chomp it as well.

The monsters growls and roar, and one bites into Orion, sinking his teeth in deep, while another strikes Duncan with his posioned barbed tail, piercing his armor with the blow. The other continues to fly over top the others and his tail strikes down at Orion this time but misses.

Cressida lets the ball of fire roll against the same wyvern, continuing to burn it as she starts to cast a longer spell, doing what she can to keep out of the path of the wyvern flying overhead.

Benthus focuses his attention on the wyvern that is perched on top of the building and unleashes two more arrows at it. One pierces its thick hide while the other bounces over it. He anguished over his miss and tries to steady his bow as well as his thoughts.

Muddy and Smyhtly work togther. Bear claw and hammer work to bring the grievously injured wyvern down to the ground. "Where did these come from?!"

With the first Wyvern defeated Orion now does with Zilla to attack the second one, he tries nothing fancy this time, just a basic strike and this time he hits and does some damage to it. Zilla helps out by bitting the wyvern.

Duncan and his Digger continue to attack 'their' Wyvern together. The Khazad first chops it across the back. Then his Digger thrusts his head forward for a bite, causing the monster to rear up - right into line for Duncan's next attack, a backswing that smashes into the side of it's head and drops it. "Hah!" Duncan crows, raising his axe into the air again, this time in triumph.

The last creature standing looks around from the safety of the roof top and decides it doesn't want to end up like the others so quickly turns and leaps off the far side of the building and takes off into the air.

"Well," says SMyhtly after a moment, "/that/ was no good." HE seems concerne dabout it, glancing towards the others.

Duncan peers in the direction the last wyvern flew off. "No way we can keep up with that thing," he remarks, patting his landshark on the back. He glances around quickly at the others, then at the remains of the fallen wyverns. "And I hope no ordinary townsfolk run into it - they wouldn't stand a chance!"

Orion shakes a fist at the Wyvern that fled, "And don't you come back!" He then shrugs, "Not that I was a lot of help." Zilla can sense that Orion is a little depressed and gives him a lick to cheer him up, "Thanks Zilla, just had an off the day I will do better next time."

Cressida crosses her arms, watching as the remaining wyvern flies off. "Hm. Well. I wonder what made them fly into town like that. If something drove them this way, it might be a problem in the future."

As the creature flies off the city seems a bit calmer for a moment, that is until you see a large fat wyvern. It has half a horse sticking out of it's mouth, is trying to carry a cart full of merchant goods in it's talons as it slowly flaps his wings, though the cart seems a bit heavy and random stuff falls out as it flies down the street.

Duncan stares for a moment, then points. "After him 'Nox!" The Digger gives a soft snort and then rumbles into plodding motion. He's basically as fast as normal person. Duncan pulls out his bow after the first few stomping steps, knocking an arrow and letting fly.

"Let's go," says Smyhtly, agreeing with Duncan. HE urges his bear along after him.

Orion smiles, "Looks like I been given a second chance, lets take it down Zilla." Zilla now lets out a roar.

Cressida looks up at that larger wyvern, chuckling for a moment. "I think we ought to stop that one from causing more trouble before we try to give chase."

Benthus dashes after the rest in pursuit, his magical companion flying from roof top to roof top, screeching.

Smythyl lets out a cry, "Reos!" And rides forward. Right towards the other wyvern. He's got his hammer up. He's presenting himself as target.

GAME: Duncan rolls 1d20+10: (12)+10: 22

<OOC> Benthus continues to use long range , drawing his bow and arrow, as he runs (move 20 feet towards fat wyvern) , and recasting divine favour with one of my pearls of power (level 1).

Duncan mutters in Khazdul to his mount and it veers slightly, letting Smythly pass by them in pursuit of the fat wyvern. Instead the Khazad and Khazad Digger try to cut it off, while Duncan also fires an arrow that strikes the creature.

Benthus takes a moment to get more divine favours from his god and once received, he runs close towards the fat wyvern.

Cressida moves forward as she starts to incant once again. The wyvern is too far away to hit with a ray, so she looks to take a central position to assist in the fight as she starts to cast her enlarging spell.

The large creature drops the horse from it's mouth and moves towards the other and lets out a hot flaming blast of fire and noxious thick smoke.

Duncan slows his Digger a bit so that he can take careful aim. This time he sends two arrows in the direction of the wyven. One flies past harmlessly, the other just barely manages to lodge ino the wyvern's scales.

"Waugh!" Both the bear and SMyhtly are blind now, but he decides to quickly burn positive energy into the area, trying to heal those aroundhim who are injured. OF course, it'll touch the wyvern too, but more for his friends.

Cressida puts her arm over her face as the wave of fire and smoke washes over her. She grabs for her rod again, calling forth another ball of fire and sending it in the direction the wyvern seems to have been. All the smoke in her eyes makes it difficult, however, and it manages to dodge without much trouble.

Valiently working to clear his eyes and looking quite worse for waer, Smyhtly swings his hammer at the Wyvern, the big fat wyvern, and manages to not only miss but to make it a little harder for the bear to attack. He's also blind, but with his big bear nose, he's more able to accurately track it... it just doesn't help him.

Cressida swings her arms, incantng quickly and throwing a little ball of acid in the wyvern's direction, not coming anywhere near it. The distraction is enough for her to connect with the flaming sphere, however, bouncing off of the wyvern's back and leaving a burn mark behind. Tears are runnng down her face, but the smoke in her eyes is still making it impossible for her to see anything, so she keeps still, to keep from losing her bearings.

Benthus Moves further forward and finally sees an opening to attack the wyvern. He sets up for a charge...

The beast seems to flail around a lot, it's wings swooping about and its tail trying to strike people but nothing seems to hit. That is except for it's huge mouth with opens up and takes a bite out of Orion.

Looking to be in severe pain from the poison, Smyhtly is grimacing. He brings the hammer down against the wyvern from the back of the bear once again, but he doesn't have much more like in hurting than he has previously. Oh, sure, it's /injured/, but not severely.

Cressida keeps throwing globs of acid blindly, once again not getting anywhere near the wyvern, but it's a decent enough distraction for her to get the flaming sphere to bounce off of him once again. Finally, she manages to clear enough smoke from her eyes, wiping at them with her hand, and now she can make out the shapes around her again.

Benthus covers his face as the wyvern takes to flight and flying away. He jabs the tip of his sword to the ground and proceeds to take his now again . He aims carefully this time and noW manages to hit it .

Finally able to see, Cressida can see the wyvern trying to make an escape. As the rest of her companions fire at it, she incants a spell and three magic missles dart off after the beast. All three hit solidly and it spirals towards the ground, hitting hard and not moving.

Benthus sees the wavering goblin an pulls out a vial for him, "Drink this. It'll neutralise the poison coursing through your veins."
