  • Title: Dancing Sights
  • Emitter: Ezil
  • Characters: Cryosanthia, Ezil, Merek
  • Place: A05: Warehouse District

  • Summary: Cryosanthia, Ezil and Merek meet up to do some investigating and appeals to the public. Cryo's street singing has not gone down well, and she explains why she uses humour to face tragedy, even though it emotionally overwhelms her. They Dance on, performing improvised moves. Once a crowd has noticed them, they make direct appeals for information about demons or fae or strange occurances that 'the authorities' may have overlooked. People with information are told to meet them at the Fernwood Pub in an hour, and in the meantime they move to several other locations, repeat their performances, and depart.

The freshness of the Tornmawr River cuts along this section of Alexandria. Its broad expanse creates the district's eastern border. Ships and barges dot its surface. Some make deliveries here and up the river, while others dock for repair. These vehicles move slowly over the water, their sails colorful and proud. No few bear a nod to Rada, or three, for luck's sake. Many also bear the colors of different nations and city-states, all of them coming here to bring trade to Alexandria.

Warehouses line the district's streets, dotted with the names of shipping companies and various industries. These, mixed with the occasional sailor's tavern, set the tone for the area. Overall, it's bustling, busy, about what one would expect for a city of this size.

To the south, the great Sea Wall and the Port of Alexandria. Both are considered wonders of the modern world.

The fair weather is a nice reprieve from the flurries of snow and ice. Despite it still being cold, Ezil and Cryosanthia wait in front of the Adventurer's Guild for Merek whom they sent word. The street is busy, and the sun is bringing with it the people who go about their day of labor, and trade.

"I didn't think we would run in to Ignis, but I had to try." Ezil's words a bit distracted as he lets his eyes focus on the figures come and go while he and the Sith-Makar wait idly. "He was involved with the Ancient Spark too, and I thought to offer." A few bypassers glare in Cryosanthia's direction, frown, and walk faster to whatever their destination was. The ones that aren't leaving because their occupation keeps them here, look at her as if they wish she would. The white smith-makar smiles awkwardly back at them and waves enthusiastically, the gesture is not returned. An orc unloading a wagon goes so far as to tell her, "Stop mocking us, and GO. Do something useful." He carries the barrel on his shoulder into the warehouse without waiting to hear her response.

"I'm trying to!" The white lizard girl calls at his back. She huffs, exhaling. "Well, let's wait a little longer. It isn't as bad here as at Soldier's Rest. Maybe he will show."

Merek has taken the time to put on his white-black attire while he makes a way to meet with the friends of his. He walks up to Ezil and places elbow to his then hugs with his arm, while he offers the same to Cryosanthia. "You are doing well?" he asks. A longspear is adjusted about the back.

Ezil smiles at Merek, and nods once to the man as he makes his way and gives his greeting. "Hello, friend. Better than I could hope, but I had a small favor to ask you." he explains, but doesn't go in to too much detail. To Cryosanthia, he offers a sympathetic glance for the orc's outburst. "Must be a bad day for someone." trying to joke it off with a soft shrug. "It's still cold, but today is a good day to walk."

"Peace be upon your Nest, Merek. Good to see you.", Cryosanthia says, walking behind Ezil and slouching, glancing this way and that. She copies the odd arm-grasping that Merek does. "No... my song didn't go over well. Like I was trying to make light of their situation. I mean, I was, but I guess not everyone likes that kind of humour. So instead of info about anything I ask, I get told to move on. It's fine, I'm fine. Walk with us?"

Merek walks with the two, and nods a bit to Ezil, "Favor?" he asks. The man looks a bit tired while he smiles, he has been through quite a bit. He does glance to Cryosanthia, "Song?" he asks curiously, lifting that brow a bit.

"My song about the Fae Queen, the tower, the plauge sickness. The one I made up around the fire." She starts to hum it, then stops. Better not. Her talons scrape along the cobbles. She's only failed as a Speaker, no biggie. It's only the thing she does, her caste, her life direction! Cryosanthia feels compelled to explain further. Although, she doesn't really, only muttering. "Leg Cramps.""

Ezil nods to that question of song, motioning to Cryo as the walk idly, seemingly aimless at his direction. "She has a lovely voice for telling such tales." his genuine tone coming, but his brow knits as she scrapes a claw, and her tone changes. "So you need to stop? Is all well?" worry there, darting a glance to Merek. "Should we find a place to stop and rest, get a drink?"

Merek looks thoughtfully to Cryosanthia, "I think you are wonderful with your storytelling and music. I wouldn't let anyone tell you otherwise." He then nods to Ezil, "We can find a place to have a drink to speak." He smiles, then shifts his longcoat a bit. He looks distant as well.

"No. Not me. My legs are fine. It's..., There was this silver sith-makar I knew. We... had rooms beside each other. He had no legs and kept making jokes about them: 'It's great, I don't get leg cramps any more!'; 'Best way to lose weight!'; 'From here, everywhere I look is up'; 'There's a line to see the Death Singing Dragon, I sent them ahead to save me a spot'. It helped. Whenever I was feeling bad he'd make some joke. It helped. He would give me half his food because he didn't need as much. Said he hoped I wouldn't think of him as half a man." Cryosanthia makes an odd noise, a keening that cuts off with a snort. Her body jerks to attention, her tail rod straight but vibrating. She is frozen. Her breath held. Her face locked in an impassive saurian expression. She stares at infinity.

Ezil had listened to that tale, something about it having caused him to bob his head, but he dared not interrupt. It's only when Cryosanthia makes that odd noise, and her body freezes the he turns to her, and steps close to one side. "White-One. What is it?" two thoughts, one of concern, and one hopping to stir in her whatever stopped. "Merek." beckoning the other man in worry.

Merek looks to be like the sith'makar in the way that he watches the skies, then he looks back to Ezil and also Cryosanthia, "Give the woman a moment," he says. There is a nod, "I know what she is dealing with in a way." He does wait with a nod.

Merek also lifts a hand while he weaves a light which is green to distract Cryo a bit, it wiggles about! She is trembling, all her muscles tense. Fighting for control over herself.

Breathe. C'mon Cryo girl, breathe. Her chest is locked tight. She forces herself, inhale all the way. Exhale, let it out. It's ok. It's OK. Her muscles relax, her posture slips and becomes more natural, less held. "I apologize my friends, that was unexpected. Those memories were strong. I have not thought them in a long while. He did not give me a scale or a name to remember him by. I meant only to say, I found his ability to be humourous despite it all, inspiring. It carried me. I hoped to do something similar for Alexandria, but correct softskin joking eludes me."

She finally smiles, lips curling and showing her pointy teeth, as she watches the dancing lights. "Thanks my friend."

Ezil ahs, his recognition of what transpired finally clicking. "I understand, a bit anyways." he relents, stepping away and looking to Merek with a smile. "That was... smart." he notes, letting out an audible sigh of relief. "It is a noble goal, and all lessons learned form life are valuable." speaking to no one in particular as he looks on down the road then. "I think we all have some strong thoughts that catch us."

Merek nods a bit to Ezil, a hand placed to his shoulder, a comforting pat to Cryo, while he maneuvers the light to follow with them, letting the sith'makar guide any of the light which is shown. "We should all get drinks." There is a light look to the skies, "Pretty snowy week, it will eventually be spring. I like winter!"

Cryosanthia shakes herself then hops in a circle around Ezil and Merek, tail bobbing as she leaps and spins, almost dancing but mostly... gallumping. "Nonsense! Nothing catches me!"

Circling the men, she stops in front of them and throws a stage bow. Popping up she says, "Come! Let's be dancing lights, and pester people about dastardly demons. Drinks after! Tag! You're it. Let's go!"

She leaps away, bounding down the street and chasing the lights. She is being very bouncy. Perhaps trying to be happy by moving happily.

Ezil looks to Merek and after Cryosanthia with a huff of a laugh, nodding at the Sith-Makar and then moving after her with a skip, and a wave to Merek. "It's a good day to run." chasing after, with that promise of drinks. Sometimes you need to relax, and just let go of the moments that make you tense. There has been a lot of those these days. Merek shrugs a bit then chuckles, "I suppose," he says, pulling more of the lights to him while he has one follow each of them, to dance about, while he maneuvers along with a little twirl. He does look at the city and also its people while he follows!

Cryosanthia leads the dance. The lizard is untrained but her natural grace helps, and it's not as if a skipping, spinning and occasionally high kicking and low sweeping sith-makar is a common sight. She augments the Dancing Lights with Ghost Sounds of drum beats, rings and other instrumentation that lends to the movements. Ezil is able to keep up with her and almost match her movements, perhaps it is the Tsuran in him. Merek, the most experienced of the trio, executes his moves with precision and restraint which contrasts the wild improvisation of the other two. Cryo spins and moves from one to the other, and sometimes leads a charge forward in a V. As far as raising spirits go, it's more effective than her singing has been.

Generating leads on Demons is a little harder. Once they've drawn a crowd and performed, they take a breather and work the crowd for information instead of coin.

Ezil has a bit of grace, following, but unable to catch that Sith-Makar in her fun. His foot steps carry him in circles, a kick of a leg, and toss of an arm as his dance and frolic of the Faring Folk. He watches the lights, and hears the beat of music from the two of his companions, laughing as he has nothing to contribute in magic, but he speaks to those who gather when all the fun is done. "Though what will we find about them here I do not know, but keep your children safe, and love them with all your heart. The demons way seek them to sink claws in their light, and it is up to us to guard them, and watch the shadows for darkness." he addresses his warning to those near him, offering a bow.

Merek nods a bit between the two while he moves along with that dance, taking the time to have fun. He looks a bit happier compared with the usual, while he takes a moment to offer supplication to Eluna, and a shimmering nice light sigil will surround all of them upon the street while he inclines to people, "Eluna offers blessing. We all stand up to protect the light! I would ask that any assistance you might offer would be welcome!"

Cryosanthia says within the light. She can't help grandstanding. "Citizens of Alexandria! I, Cryosanthia, Speaker of the Sith-Makar, along with Merek the Scribe and the Blessed Follower of the Stars need your help. We seek information for the Adventurer's guild. Several younglings have been lured astray by demons or Fae, and we fear there are more under baleful watch. These malcraents may move amongst us, in disguise. We seek any information, family lore, unusual activity, strangers, odd symbols, that may have been ignored or overlooked by the Authorities. Tell us the worries and suspicions you have been unable to tell others. We will listen!"

Welp, the white lizard has opened up for complaints.

Ezil laughs as he looks at the crowd once more, nodding in agreement to his friends. "Any news, and we will indeed listen." he muses, drawing away as he moves to the other's and speaks to them, and those they are near. "It is children, and those special the stalk, but as to why we do not know. It would be wise to share anything you see, and be wary. Do not take action on your own, but tell those who protect those within these walls." he mentions, a smile on his lips, but his message said.

Merek nods between the two, content in what he spoke, as well as the team. Then he shifts that longcoat about himself, while he takes a look to people. He has on a circlet, he looks pretty regal and nice, although tired. "Well, if you know anything, anyone that might know anything, feel free to ask them to come to us as well."

Cryosanthia does her best, managing to radiate warmth and a willingness to listen. A big improvement on her previous outreach efforts. There are still a few frowns and glares directed her way. The seeming 'friendliness' of sith-makar depends largely on one's opinions of dragons and lizards in general, and for some they are simply too monstrous. Still, the white one tries, striking dramatic poses and flashing the bright inside of her cape. "We understand you might wish discretion, no one wishes to break the circle of the crowd. In an hour we shall be in Fernwood Pub and may be contacted there. A drink for any that will speak with us, be merry!"

The trio move on to other common parts of Alexandria, concentrating on the working class business areas and docks. Any place the salt of the earth gather and work in large numbers, parents who may not have much truck and trade with adventurers, they perform and make their announcements. Leaving things a little late, they have to rush to the pub to meet their deadline.
