  • Summary: Fishing boats are going missing, but there are no rumours of pirates or storms to explain it. A Coastal Guard launch is heading out with adventurers to determine the cause. The wizard's lost lizard will have to wait. Out to sea, all seems tranquil as the vessel sails into a glowing jellyfish bloom. Nefarious foes lurk within the swarm, and soon blobs are burning into the hull and plopping on deck. Battle ensues, with Robert, Slixvah and Captain Bailey getting disabled when the blobs engulf their head. Dirk's weapon jams, leaving Zofija to save the ship. Despite her desire to smash them all, the party settles for throwing some back into the jellies and tacking back to port.

The Explorer's Guild: The Porcelain Briefing room.

An assignment was posted, exact details to be provided. Only one issue, the representative is late. After at least one quarter-hour glass has drained through, the door opens. An elderly, grey-haired human walks in.

"Ah, hello, hello. There seems to have been an administrative error, and a prior contract has gone back for review. We have two offerings which might meet your qualifictions." The man adjusts his glasses, squinting and peering at all assembled.

"The first one is fishing related. Some fishing boats haven't returned, wreckage hasn't been found. There have been problems in the past with Pirates, Submarines and Suaghuain." He reads further down the sheet. "It says here, 'Voyage into the Unknown', and none of the fishermen will be coming or risking their boats. So... one of the guard launches has been 'honey-potted' to look like a fishing vessel."

He looks up, "You'll need to know how to sail, or work artifice, or fish."

He selects another sheet of paper, "The second one, a wizard's pet has gone missing and assistance is needed tracking it down."

He gazes at the group, "It wouldn't be advisable to split the force and tackle both, so, could you come to a consensus as to which you'd like?"

Slixvah, the rust red and white feathered egalrin fortune teller, crosses her arms and strokes her beak like it was the finest beard. "Hmm... I dunno how to fish, but lookin' for a wizard's lizard don't sound too productive..."

She looks to the group. "I guess I'll defer to y'all. I'll go with the wind!"

Dirk leans up a convenient bit of wall, arms folded over his chest and his pipe puffing short, annoyed little puffs of smoke into the air. He taps his foot, checking his pocketwatch every five minutes. When at last the guild rep arrives, he rolls his eyes. "Fuckin' -finally-," he mutters around his pipe, straightening from his lean. He listens to the jobs on offer, shaggy white brows furrowed in thought. "Well," he says. "I don't really know much 'bout wizards -or- their pets. But I can certainly fish." He pauses, blinking a couple times. "'course, I'm nae much good on a boat. Dwarves an' sailin' dinnae really mix."

The expedition coordinator nods, "Oh, the second one, is from a Hasaak of Two Horizons, if that means anything to you. He.. well he or she isn't in our records."

Hasaak of the Two Horizons is locally known as the 'exotic beast wrangler for a 'Lord Pendlewick', a notorious collector of dangerous monsters. So the escaped pet could be anything.

The oversized suit of artifice-enhanced armor occupies one of the reinforced chairs meant for Jotunn or Sith-makar, hunched forward with its domed helmet up and plated arms resting on either poleyn. Bob stops talking about his grandson's fresh obsession with butterflies ('fubber-byes') and sits up when the administrator enters. Olo's adventures will have to wait for another time.

"The way I understand it, fishing is most often about the company," Bob ventures, a fist looping over his high gorget and adjusting it. "I'm well-versed enough to talk shop with a mage and know a thing or two about the Weave... but I think it sounds like we can do more good on the boat." He mutters something under his breath about hoping he doesn't have to swim, though.

A piece of paper falls out of the collection the coordinator is holding. He bends awkwardly and picks it up, standing with a groan. "Oh. There's an artist's rendition of the lost pest. Pet. I mean. Pet. It's described as 'A juvenile sphynx.'" He shows an extremely cute sketch of a winged cat.

"Answers to Vincent..."

Zofija was waiting patiently for their contact at the guild, finding that there were now options for what to do moving forward. The Arvek-nar grunts, and rolls her shoulder. "Well, I reckon that you have an idea which job you'd rather us do, given your ties to the lords here. Wonder why you aren't handling this yourself though, what with it being your job and all." She grunts. "I'm not sure, pay seems okay either way. I'd hear what you all think we should do."

Slixvah perks up. Glancing to Robert, Dirk, and Zofija. "... I agree, helping the fishing boats might do the best good."

She looks at the sheet of paper of the juvenile sphynx. "... though... getting in good with a sphnyx..."

Sphynxes mean wisdom. And Slix is all about that.

She does, however, peer curiously at Zofija's little blurb about their employer's connections.

The guild coordinator blinks at the Arvek Nar, "My job is handing out contracts to adventurers. This second one is from Hassan of the Two Horizons, and while his name is strangely Vardaman, I have no idea what his affiliation is. I have no connections to nobility."

"While the guild usually throws a random collection of adventurers at a problem, since they are usually so ill defined, this time we have two with minimal information for you to select from."

Dirk takes the pipe from his mouth, puffing a billow of smoke into the air as he looks up at his comrades. "I'm all fer helpin' the fishermen, meself," he says. "Pirates I can shoot. I'd have a lot better time trackin' them than this..." He gestures with his pipe at the drawing, leaning in for a better look. His irascibility melts though, and he breaks into a huge smile. "Awwww! Och, isn't -he- a cutie?" He blinks a couple times, then harrumphs, his beard bristling as he puffs up his burly chest, once more a stern and mansome dwarf. "Ahem. Aye. Anyroad. I'd have a lot better time trackin' pirates than I would some wizard's pet."

"The kitty will keep a day, I hope," Bob agrees with a nod. "I'd think it best we make sure folks out on their boats are safe to earn their living... feed their families." He's trying not to look too closely at the picture.

"Well, Vincent the Sphynx will likely keep, if he doesn't come home on his own." The elderly coordinator nods along with Bob and Dirk "And wizards, right? Should handle their own problems."

"Here's the coastal guard contact at the docks."

The Inner Sea

The contract directions are straight forward. The mock fishing vessel is clearly a large launch with some extra masts attached to resemble fishing beams, and trunks arranged on the deck to resemble a hatch-hold. The new name is in bright, iridescent paint which still gleams wet: 'The Clam-Chaka'. The captain of the Clam-Chaka is a dark-skinned half-sil, tanned with some wood elf heritage.

"Welcome aboard! I'm Bailey, or Cappy, but not 'Appy. I hope you've got your sea legs."

Regardless of whether everyone does, they can be acquired during the first hour of the voyage, out of the harbour, along the coast, then into deeper water. Along the way, Captain Bailey explains her plan, "I was going to sail around, make it look like we were dropping nets. We have nets. If anyone has a better plan, you're the adventurers! Lay it on me."

GAME: Slixvah rolls knowledge/nature+1: (15)+7+1: 23 (vs DC15)

Far out to sea there's still a current from the Tornmwrar discharge that makes the water less salty and warmer, could be a good place for fish.

Slixvah hops onto the mock vessel with a bit of unease. "Is it too late to say I ain't eva been on a boat..?" she jokes, looking a bit queasy from the rocking. And they haven't even gotten started yet.

"Well, I think that's a right solid plan, Cappy Bailey," she says. "I'm gonna guess some where along..."

She squints out into the deeper waters, looking up at the sky then back to the city. "... get up 'round where the Tornmwrar spills out. Fresh water. Dunno where exactly though."

Bob stands on the deck looking around dubiously, clicking his tongue in thought. His hip pack looks especially well-packed today and the titan armor is looking in better shape than ever... but it doesn't look much like fisherman's attire. "Sounds lie a decent enough plan," he agrees with the captain, scanning the deck. "Any common threads between the lost ships? Common holes they favored?"

The armor clanks and clomps as he takes a few steps around the ship-- even going so far as to hop twice-- in order to find some sense of balance. The aetherite crystals glow in the sunlight and the armored plates have been polished to a high sheen.

"Maybe I should find a spot belowdecks to wait?" The big Cerenzan curls his titan's fist closed and knocks it loudly against his armored chest. "So I don't spoil the surprise."

Dirk looks worriedly at the fishing boat as the approach, gulping softly. "Och, I thought we was goin' -river- fishin'," he mutters softly, tugging at his scarf. He sucks a deep breath and lumbers up the gangplank. He plants himself in the middle of the boat, back pressed firmly to a mast. It manages to stave off the worst of the seasickness, even though he does look a little green after awhile. When Cappy lays out their plan, he glances up. "If ye--urrp--if ye headed a wee bit further out... the Tormwrar current should be thinnin' out the salt, an' warmin' up the waters. If I was goin' fer fish, that's where I'd look."

Zofija was not the most comfortable on the ship all things considered, at least to begin with. Eventually though, she did manage to relax and lean over one of the railings and watch the water.

"They're going to know it's a trap the moment they get close, so don't worry too much. All that matters is getting them when they're close enough." The Arvek-nar grunts.

"Sounds good!" Captain Bailey grins cheerfully at Bob, "If you can't be handy you can be ballast! Don't worry, I'll scream if we're attacked. It's part of the ruse." Her head nods several times at Slixvah and Dirk. "Either of you know how to trim sails? Pull on those lines there, and there. I'm steering. I'm also the captain."

More grinning, as she tacts the boat towards the Tornmrar outlet. "No real common traits, other than the boats were small. Normally there are rumours, or survivors. Or a bird. They'll send a messenger bird back with a note for help."

"You aren't a messenger bird, are you?" She asks Slixvah directly.

Slixvah snorts, shaking her head as her wings open up briefly to catch the wind. "I can deliver a message, and I am a bird! But I ain't a messenger bird! Ain't got my big wings yet Cappy Bailey, sorry sugar!" she teases.

She follows the directions, pulling on the indicated lines to get them towards the fishing spot. "Don't know how to trim sails either! Unless you mean trim sales. I can drive a hard bargin!"

Dirk gulps at the notion of abandoning his precarious position in the ship's center. But he manages to heave to his feet and make his way over to the rigging. The poor dwarf, he staggers back and forth as he goes. His people are not known for their sea legs, and with good reason. But they -are- known for bullheaded stubbornness, and he seizes the ropes with grim determination. He heaves with all his strength, trimming the sails in at Bailey's order. "Urrf! Like -this-?" he grunts, playing tug-o-war with the wind.

A small leak start downstairs, and then it seems to stop, then another leak starts, then it stops.

Out to sea, the water has the dark blue colour of indeterminable depths. Twinkling shafts of light can be seen descending, reflecting off particles and bubbles, to seeming infinity.

It's eerie, and beautiful, made even more so by an unexpected event. "Oh! Look at the jellyfish swarm!" Captain Bailey calls out. Without warning the launch has sailed into an endless floating mat of them. As each one bounces off the bow there's a cascade of colours through the cyaneidae.

GAME: Robert rolls Knowledge/Engineering: (8)+12: 20

Leaks don't start and stop. Something is making holes then plugging them. It's kind of dark and 'guard space' down below, so it's hard to get a good look at what's going on.

Beneath the grate in the dappled light of the hold, Bob stands to have a look around as a curious series of sounds grab his attention. He gives a flick to a pouch on the inside of his vambrace and the soft yellow-gold glow fills the space as a spheroid crystal begins to bob at his shoulders. The chorus of clattering clanks continues as he splashes through shallow puddles. A pause. Then he's stomping back towards the space just beneath the grate to the deck above.

"Something's drilling into the ship and attaching itself... I think." The Cerenzan's voice calls up. "Making holes and plugging it; only thing I can think of."

"Ideally we don't get to that point, if anyone's screaming it's those sahuagin folk that were raiding boats, if there are any." Zofija grunts.

The arvek-nar peers over the railing again, and blinks as she looks at the water. "Running straight through a jellyfish... bloom? I think that's the term. Careful, I heard they're pretty venomous, depending on the type, so don't go touching any of them."

"What's that about something drilling in?" She asks, looking down at the floor. "Careful, might be the jellyfish, might be something using them as cover to ambush us. On your guards, everyone!"

A couple jellyfish just vanish. They are there, then they are gone. Invisible, something. The water looks a little extra blurry where they were for a moment, then it's lost in the swarm.

Downbelow, what seems to be a static ball of water is growing where the leak was. It's a basketball sized droplet of water, hanging off the wall, one bubbling on the floor. Two. At least two can be seen. There may be more.

These jellyfish are mostly harmless. They've got nematodes in their tendrils but it causes only a slight rash.

GAME: Slixvah used a Wand of Mage Armor.

Slixvah peers over the edge as Cappy points out a natural phenomena. She blinks, and her eyes widen with a little gasp from her ajar beak. "Oooh~!" she coos. "It's so pretty!"

Though, that doesn't last long as Robby calls up, her brows furrowing as she looks over. "... wuh..?"

Shaking her head and not liking the sound of that, she pulls free a wand from her many layers of robes and gives a swish and flick. "Ant'c ohctu hist," she incant, her feathers firming up. "I think we got some illusions... these jellyfish are harmless by the by. What's in them though..." she warns, eyeing something in the water as she prepares herself.

GAME: Robert casts Shield. Caster Level: 3 DC: 15

"Water is collecting on the inside of the ship's walls and floor." Bob calls again, the little spheroid crystal swinging in a slow arc from shoulder to shoulder to bend and stretch shadows. "They're pooling into balls. Suspended in place," he's clearly trying to sort out the mechanics at play. This isn't normal. "Wait... not walls," he half-mutters, lowering his domed helmet into place.

"Raise shields," Bob's voice offers a familiar bit of Kulthina as he selects a gadget off his belt, twisting two halves of a mechanical sphere in opposite directions. It glows blue and he sockets it into a pauldron. A semi-transparent hexagonal mesh spreads out from the socket before fading out of view.

That done, he approaches one of the spheres and... pokes it. <kulthian>

Nemori has been belowdecks with Robert for most of the time sailing. She expressed no preference earlier when the decision was up for which job to take. In many ways, she looked reluctant to be along. Yet neither was she coerced; just another case of the dark skinned elf choosing, for some reason, to do something she seems to have distaste for. Her reasons are as yet kept close to her chest.

Whatever the case, she's belowdecks... the uncharitable might assume she chose to be in order to get out of some of the harder work, choosing instead to assist the artificer with his tasks. So she's down there when Robert calls up his warning. She makes sure her hat is firmly in place.

Her other hand draws the slim, beaten rapier from its scabbard at her belt, for all the good it might do against floating balls of water. "I think this was a terrible idea, Robert," she tells the man.

"Water doesn't work like that!" Captain Bailey puts on her Captain Obvious hat, "It runs downslope and collects in the bottom of the ship. It's something else."

This hypothesis is proven true as Robert pokes one. The strange ball of water lengthens and surges up his arm to surround his head like a diving helmet. Now his helmet has a helmet, and it's sizzling.

Seawater fountains in, an arc the thickness of a finger. This is a problem, but not the immediate one.

The big suit of armor stumbles away from the hole in the ship, fists dragging at the layer of acidic substance encapsulating the domed helmet. There's the distant sound of choking and gagging as the metal begins to tint, sizzle, and score at the edge of the substance.

The little happily-glowing crystal continues its swirling unabated.

A second 'ball of water' rolls off the floor and a second stream of water starts adding to the bilge.

Up on deck, there's movement. Two blobs shoot out of gaps in the jellyfish swarm and land on the deck. They roll about like transparent beads of mercury, leaving scarred wood behind.

Nemori mutters a word. Not a very nice word. Even in elvish, it sounds vile. The whole reason she was down here was so that Robert could do most of the work! Aleggedly. Since stabbing balls of water with a flimsy rapier seems like an exercise in futility, she uses her free hand instead to grab her waterskin while she moves over to the suffering artificer. Unstoppering it with her teeth, she splashes the water on his helmet, hoping to if not wash away the acid, to at least dilute it.

Hope, apparently, is dead.

Belowdecks, the second ball of jelly also shoots at Bob. It might be the crystal, its glowing, somewhat like jellyfish which seem to be part of its diet.

On deck, one shoots for the dwarf, flying past him while the other rolls up against the hobgoblin's shins. Her boots hiss, gleaming under the acid polish. They look like new, and soon they're going to look a lot worse.

She spies the one going for Zofija, and she inhales deeply, wings splaying out as she shoves her beak into her cupped hands. She silently clacks something into palms, flattens her hands, then runs them along her wings. "Cstatre, htastre, latctre!" she chants as her feathers gain a wavering power.

She steps forward once, and the wings buffet through the air and slam something supersonic-ally loud at the creature. Jogging forward, feathers unravel like wound ribbons as she skirts to a halt beside the two, the air filling with potential witch slaps.

"My mother's questionable choices!" Captain Bailey swears, "I'm turning the boat around in case there's more in the swarm. Keep those off my head."

The thunderbelcher kicks in his grip, making the jellyball bobble as the bullet smacks into it. Almost immediately the lead ball fizzles away, making his jaw drop. "Oh, piss up my -arse-," he grunts. Learned men shouldn't travel to strange environs and try to poke at things they don't understand. At least in this instance it just looked like a ball of suspicious liquid and not an openly hostile and weird-looking snake thing. Still, the end result is just about as terrible.

Bob seems to be rooted to the spot, hunched over and making all manner of unappetizing noises that are at least mostly-smothered by the acidic slime. His plated digits are curled into useless claws and his arms spasm, crooked and twisted instead of making any efforts to put up a defense.

Slixvah's ribbon-like feathers snap out as one makes a move, it whipping across the blob like a towel to the face.

There's a hole in the armour, dear Robert, dear Robert. There's a hole in the armour, dear Robert. The nursery rhyme comes to mind as Nemori finds an opening and stabs into it, and then the acid blob follows after.

The blinding, choking, deafening acid blob is inside the helmet. The situation is not improving.

The other one rolls about aimlessly on the floor, scorching the wood.

Bailey's warning was prescient as the above deck acid blobs keep moving and head towards the stern. One rolls, then bounces, then finally arcs to land on her head with uncanny accuracy. As promised, she screams when she's attacked. This... does not help, as the jelly gets in her mouth.

The fourth, smacked by the Arvec, careens and impacts the steering column of the ship.

Slixvah curses in a chirp as the acid balls get away towards Cappy. "Oi! Dirk! You got a blunt thing? Smack it like Zofi! It hurts it!" she instructs, pointing at the blobs. "Gotta check on them down there!"

The fortune teller absconds from the deck, half sliding, half gliding down the steps five at a time as she tumbles down into the hold. "Ok, what's the sitch he- oh holy balls of Angoron!" she acks, another towel-ribbon feather whip slapping against the one trying to down Robby.

The blobs turn their attention away from the Cavalier, but she doesn't turn her attention away from the blobs, as one gets a passing smack from her hammer for their trouble. she follows after them, bringing the large hammer back up, and this time correcting for the movements, which sends the blob directly to the floor of the ship, which thankfully cushions the impact, but not for the creature. "Shout if you need anything down there Slix! There's one on the captain here that's left." She shout to the stairs.

One of the acid orbs is smashed, droplets going everywhere and adding freckles to the deck. Bailey struggles, dropping to her knees, blindly holding the steering column. Robert is not doing much better as the the searing acid burns continue to overwhelm him.

Dirk racks the slide on his rifle, ejecting the spent clip. "I've got bullets! Those are -sort- o' blunt!" he grumbles, scooping out a fresh round from his hip satchel. He snaps his wrist, breaking the action on his rifle and slapping the round into the breech. Snapping it back up, he racks the slide and lifts it to his shoulder, ready to fire once again.

With something to help distract the oozes, maybe she can do better this time, and she stumbles around the struggling armoured man.. she doesn't have her sea legs.. then stabs again at the ooze. This time the thin blade manages to score the blob, splattering some of it away. The shadow elf looks disgusted. "Probably not the best tool for this. Robert! We are trying!"

Slixvah is busy getting herself back and ready to rumble as she see's Robert having a rough time. "Mori! Sugar, we gotta slap it with somethin- ackggblurrbbbllyllyblbb!"r

Aaaand she now has an acid blob on her head. Trying to not panic in the pain, she pats around the many things under her many robes and pulls out a torch, the end capped off with a piece of fabric. Fumbling around blind, she yanks off the everglowing light and passes it to a ribbon feather.

It clonks up the stairwell, sliding around the roof of the hold before it scrapes out and waves about to be seen just barely above deck.

There is a lit torch being waved from below deck. Whatever the hell that means.

"Just hang on down there! Gotta get the one up here off of the captain." She shouts back to the deck, taking one gloved hand to the face and blob in front of her, where she bunches up as much of the material as she can to yank it free from them, wincing in the process as it burns clean through most of the leather.

Bailey moans and gasps as the blob is pulled off her head. She whimpers from the acid burns.

Slixvah isn't having a good time. She's done well to not breathe anything in save for whatever got in initially just yet. She's scrabbling around her person, looking for something, anything that can- ah!

A hand passes off a tiny figure to a ribbon, and tosses it out of the hold.

A small, white plumed thrush blinks its gold eyes wildly and looks down at the hold. "Oh," their tinny voice chirps. "Oh dear. It appears that Slixvah and Robert are drinking the no-no sauce. That is unhealthy, you know?"

A strange acidic ball has brought Robert down, he's on his knees, tapping a 'S-O-S' in merc-talk. Slixvah can smell her feathers burning, but doesn't feel the pain of it, unless all her nerves have already been consumed.

That would hurt more though.

And the third blob rebounds when it is dropped and squirts towards Bailey. The half-sil just barely manages to escape being engulfed again.

Slixvah is scrabbling at the thing on her head, and slowly realizing she can't deal with this herself. The acid in her stomach is horrible. Her head is spinning from the lack of air. Where was Robby? Zofi? She forces herself to calm down and lowers her hands, keeping still so someone can help her easier. Fuck, this hurts.

Fiadh flutters their wings a bit to catch some air. "New news on the hold, Slixvah has accepted her fate of the inevitable and Robert is on his knees. I approximate... half a minute until demise. Regretfully."

"Get on your feet, lash the wheel if you have to, and get somewhere safe, away from the edges in case any more come up." The Arvek-nar barks to the captain, while her attention turns to the stairs. "I don't think either of them gave up. If you can drink an entire bottle of alchemist's fire equivalent and be okay, I'm sure Slix can manage a few moments like the captain here." She grumbles to the bird as she passes by. "You can speak up if anything happens up top."

The cavalier runs downstairs, shaking off her hand as she went. "Ah, shit, this is a real mess. Just give me a moment, I'll try to get these things off. I've got healing potions in my pack if we need them, the moment they're free."

The flung blob vanishes from sight amongst the jelly fish. The splash causes a small, flickering circle of light to spread away from the point of impact.

The acid blob in the hobgoblin's hands is finding its way through what remains of her gloves, searing her skin.

Slixvah gasps as she gets salty sea air to breath in, then hacks violently to dislodge the rest of the acid from her system. She gives the hand a squeeze back, and nods painfully to Robby. "Th- *cough* thanks handsome," the half bald eagle mentions before haphazardly coming up the stairs.

Fiadh, still chirping away, chitters, "And here comes Slixvah, ready to face the day."

She grunts again, wincing before she flings it to the ground, gripping the hammer quickly to slam it into the blob and the ground, while blood starts to trickle down the handle. "All good, now just finish the damned thing off!"

"There has to be more than four in the bloom." Robert's breathing is laboured as he follows Slixvah up the stairs, "The ship is holed and the captain is down. We need to get turned around and out of the jellyfish. I'll help Bailey." He moves to do so.

Slixvah rises to her feet fully as the decree is made to slay it. "Heavens- yeah, Zofi that's cool and all, but we have to /live/ to be able to tell 'em what's going on!"

She jogs up, ribbon wings trailing behind her as they whip forward to wrap the ooze up. Robby's right, there's too many to deal with right now!"

The ribbon like feathers scoop up the ooze, more feathers replacing the ones that get melted away as she pulls her wings back, and throws all of them forward, unwinding the coil as the blob is thrown like a makeshift catapult into the sea. "Good riddance!"

Fiadh tweets. "Impressive. You almost surprised me there."

"Shush!"

Nemori should be pleased about the last of the oozes being dealt with. And she is. A sharp nod is given to Slixvah at her decision to take matters of the last creature into her own hands. Hair. Feathers. But she otherwise just slams her rapier back into its scabbard and stalks back down to the lower hold, pausing only to glower once at Robert before she disappears. Presumably to recover her hat. And probably wrap up her burning hands.

Zofija smacks the blob with a hammer again as it moves to threaten Nemori, but it proves resilient to the attack yets again, but before she can move to hit it again, it is flung unceremoniously from the ship.

"I almost had it." The Arvek-nar grunts. "Are we not already leaving already? The captain _is_ turning us out of here, right?" She asks, turning to the helm.

It's not as good a throw as Nemori's, but Slixvah's feather-fling arcs the ball of acid off the ship and out to sea. Like its partner, it causes a ripple of light when it splashes down, and then it disappears completely.

One section of water is impossible to tell from another, even if the 'water' is 'acid'.

Seconds pass, and all that remains is the carpet of jellyfish, stretching off in all directions. Only a swiftly closing wake shows where the Clam-Kachaka entered.

Captain Bailey is still getting over her shock and in need of aid. Robert's devices, Slixvah's wisdom and Zofija's potion are enough to get everyone functional, though some more extensive healing will be needed. Acid is not good for eyes, ears, nose and throat, and for those who were engulfed the world is a lot fainter in many respects.

The boat needs to be fixed, but it isn't sinking so quickly that can't wait until it has cleared the jellyfish. They mysterious disappearances are not so mysterious anymore.

Although the solution is less clear. For the moment, an advisory to avoid the jellyfish bloom will do until a better remedy is decided.
