About Homeland Spends

The homelands spend represents your character's ties to the landscape of their birth. You may only select one type of area, or homeland, to apply the benefits to.

Where are you from? Whether remembered fondly or not, your homeland and its various valleys, crags, hills, and features left an imprint on your soul. Select the terrain type from the list below that best describes the area your character was born in. From here on out, you receive a +1 insight bonus to Knowledge/geography, Survival, and k/local checks when within a similar landscape.
Choose one for your native landscape:
- Cold (ice, glaciers, snow, and tundra)
- Desert (sand and wastelands)
- Forest (coniferous and deciduous)
- Jungle
- Mountain (including hills)
- Plains
- Planes (pick one, other than Material Plane)
- Swamp
- Underground (caves and dungeons)
- Urban (buildings, streets, and sewers)
- Water (above and below the surface)

|
Established Local: You can always find north when in a land similar to your native landscape. Your bonuses from T1 increases to +2 when within your your homeland and similar landscapes. In addition, you may take 10 on k/geography, survival checks related to your homeland, or lands similar to them, even when under stress.

|
Established Guide: You receive a +1 insight bonus to saves when within a land similar to your native landscape.
Spiritual Connection: You are familiar enough that the landscape of your birth responds to you. When in your homeland (and not in a similar landscape), you may ask the advice of local spirits. Treat this as an augury. This takes 10 minutes. It may be performed once per week.

Language of the Land |
You're fluent in more than one tongue of your native landscape. When you select this spend, select a language associated with your area/area type (you may need to speak with a DM), and add it to your languages known. Earnable once. |

Skills of the Land |
The skills of your homeland stick with you. Work with staff to select a particular skill associated with your homeland or background. You gain a +1 competence bonus to this skill. Earnable twice. Each time this applies to a different skill. For Urban areas, this tends to be skills like Craft, or Knowledge (local), and Knowledge (nobility). |
