  • Summary: Cryosanthia is meeting with Delilah, to pick up the Apprentice Cheating Gloves she ordered. Delilah delivers a beautiful pair of white snakeskin gloves and matching lizard leather gauntlets, complete with Cryo's Dragon-Eye Arcane symbol. As the white-sith tries out her new toys, Kaelyn, still adapting to her new form as a Feather Dragon and struggles with her cart. Cryo is successful in the use of prestidigation and mage hand, but can't seem to figure out how to turn off the spells. She inadvertantly cleans Durgash, Kaelyn, and some other things in the area. This causes an argument, that Charlotte intervenes to stop, while Cryo exits to try and attune herself and get her spells under control or otherwise do something useful with them such as wash some dishes if she can't.

Just west of the Northern Highbridge and east of the arena, commerce blooms. Noisy and bustling, most anything may be purchased here for a price. Vendors from all cultures sell their wares from exotically colored carts, and the smells of different nations and far-off city-states mix with local ones from Alexandria and its riverbanks.

For all its commerce, visitors are advised to keep hold of their purses. Even the merchants possess a certain, cunning look. Most are positioned at carts or stalls as opposed to a formal storefront, with trade here being mobile, and visiting from all parts of the world.

Though the quality of goods suffers here compared to Upper Alexandria, the options are more diverse. Too, the oversight of the Watch is slightly less, and during times events are held at the Arena, chaos abounds. After dark, the square becomes a hangout for bards and other entrepreneurs whose business is best conducted by night; the shadows at the edges of the square often contain furtive figures engaging in their own brand of business.

A white sith-makar is watching the market, leaning against a wall. She's got some sort of jerky stick that she's chewing on as people go by. A note delivered this morning told her that her gloves were ready, and a place and time to pick them up. She looks up and down, waiting for a golden haired human girl to arrive.

And arrive the golden haired human girl does! One might see the tip of her hat approaching through the crowds first, but it isn't long before her cheerful self sterps into view, out from behind where a couple of big oruchs were busy haggling with a gnome merchant who simply would not budge on price.

"Sorry I'm late," comes Delilah's greeting. "Little mix-up at a stall five minutes back that way, had to stop and help pick up about four hundred peaches. Wasn't me that knocked over the baskets, but it would have been rude to just... leave it, right?" Wandering out of the Fernwood, is well, it's a furry, feathery, dragon? Or some kind of draconic critter? She's the size of a small horse, weight wise, but very very long. She wanders toward a large covered wagon, near said pub, well just outside the stables...

Kae stands on her hind legs, walking forward as she begins inspecting the wagon, that long tail of hers slowly lashing , and of course disturbing snow and whatnot as she looks things over....

Cryosanthia does spot the hat first, and is standing nicely when Delilah comes into view. She bobs her head in agreement, smilling, "Peace on your Nest. That's ok, I would have stopped too. Maybe sorted them by colour, it's hard not to. I was happy to wait."

Delilah smiles pleasantly, and bobs her head. "Peace on your Nest as well," she replies. "I... didn't sort them by color, they were all just sort of peach colored, and all looked... more or less the same to me. I guess I could have arranged them by light peach or dark peach... though..." She shrugs lightly, "Maybe bruised versus not-bruised would have been the best."

The young sorceress reveals the small, wooden box she's been carrying tucked under her arm, and holds it out to flip the little lid open on its hinges. Inside is a pair of gloves, made from white snakeskin, and bearing the arcane marks of the intended wearer. "Finished as promised." She grins, and winks. "From one cheater to another."

"Oh, they look perfect!" Cryosanthia holds her hand beside them first, comparing her own scaling to that of the gloves. The glove-scales are finer, but the effect is uncanny and a little like a second skin. She pulls them on, tugging them to her wrists, feeling the soft stretch. She splays her fingers, then curls them again. White gloves! "The measurements were perfect, these fit is superb, not restrictive at all."

She turns them, looking at the palms, the back with her debossed Arcane mark. She briefly covers her eyes with them, so the 'Cryo' dragon-eye symbols face Delilah. She pulls one down, her eye behind it closed, a wink. "I'm just a little cheating, how do I make the spells work?"

Kae begins humming now, her voice, and the lungs powering it allowing things to carry... She unhooks one catch on the tarp afer another, before lifting the side of the canvas cover and pokes her head inside, her long tail thwipping back and forth, the big furry/featheryy end brushing more snow aside... Making kind of a biig snow triangle...

Kae starts to move her head back and there's a rip sound, one of her horns poking through a bit of canvaas... Blink..... Blink.. Her wings and whole body droop "Well damn.." She mutters and starts trying to grab where the horn has gone through the canvas, her hands reaching and the little grabbers at the uper hook of her wings also grabbing, and eventually she's loose. She then blinks and looks at the two 'fingers' at the leading edge of her wing and blinks again "This is sooo wierd.." She mutters

"Easy." Delilah watches as Cryosanthia tries the gloves on, and sets the box down so she can clasp her hands behind her back. "For Prestidigitation, just gives your fingers a little wiggle -- literally, I'm not kidding -- and wave your hand over whatever it is you want to clean. clothes, piece of paper, your cheat sheet for that mage exam, whatever." She shrugs, and winks, "For Mage Hand, pretty much the same, just imitate the motion you want your conjuration to do for you."

She picks the box up again, and lifts out the piece of velvet that was covering the set of gauntlets underneath. "You're already wearing the magic part... you could do with just those, and get everything you need, but these are... helpful, I'm sure, as requested."

Durgash is here arguing with a dwarf in front of a dilapidated cart that's seen better days. After a few minutes of heated discussion, in which Durgash is attempting to loom over the dwarf and the dwarf is completely ignoring him, they part ways, with Durgash in a huff.

Kae loooks abck toward Cryo and Deliah now curiously, her eyes taken off focussing a bit as she turns, her tail tip ends up going under her wagon wheel and it shifts juust a bit... Squishy tail!!! Kae's eyes get WIIIIDe then she flails her arms, and wings as a bit of a belch of flame escapes her mouth and nostrils, it's purple and blue, really odd colored...

Kae then backs up slowly and uses her wing to push the cart back, before she gets out from under said cart and stares at it... "Eeef I forgot to chock it a while back." She mutters, and well she's digging back into the cart, before she tugs the chocks out and chocks the wheels back up....

"Oh! The cover gloves. Those look great as well." Cryo gazes gleefully at the gauntlets. They will help protect the magic gloves when she's fencing and are the first step in upgrading her armour, which is in terrible shape. She has to try the magics first.

As instructed, she wiggles her fingers, her eyes closed so she can concentrate on the sense in her hand and the behaviour of the enchantment. The 'eye' on the back of the glove glows, after which she wipes at herself, gesturing away the grime deep in the seams of her armour, and deeper, cleaning her scales and underneath. "Oh. Oooooh, it works so well!"

Next, the palescale sith looks around. Kaelyn and her wagon have been at the corner of her vision, and her focus is no longer singular. A quick, slightly different finger wiggle, and the eye glows. Cryo then makes a tugging motion. Across the way, one of the chock-blocks Kae set hastily adjusts into a better position under the wheel. Cryo laughs, "This is awesome. I'm going to prank so many tail tuggers! You know, it's weird not to feel the magic burn."

Durgash hrmphs at dwarves and cities and the cost of a cart as he strides up the street, peering at Kaelyn as he passes, then up towards Cryo and Delilah.

Delilah grins, and nods her head, as she hands the box over to Cryo as well. "It /is/ weird, isn't it? I've gotten the same feel when I used my wand that I picked up after a contract a little while ago. ...Silly bandit had no idea what it was that he had..." She shrugs her shoulders lightly. "But yes, just having a spell... just... do its thing, without costing you anything, does feel pretty wonderful, doesn't it?"

The Golden Sorceress can't help but watch... whatever that is that's happening to Kaelyn. "You know... I don't think I've ever actually met her, really, but I've seen her around and I don't think I know anyone with worse luck. At all."

"It does. Such a strange sensation... just going." The white-scaled sith reaches for the guantlets next, sliding them over her gloves, repeating how she stretched and clenched. There's a wrist strap to tighten down. The motions are restricted, but the gauntlets fit well. "She's a very nice person. She gave me this timepiece. I met her when she was half-elf, helf? when she was elf on top, and below the waist she was a riding lizard. She's a little more coordinated now, but it must be very awkward."

Cryosanthia tests her gestures again. The gauntlets glow with a very pale blue-white light, lit from within in a way that emphasizes the scales of the leather. If anything, it makes it more obvious she's cast a spell. Magic won't be hidden.

As the orc draws close, Cryo instinctively makes a small wave in his direction. Inadvertant, this is enough to activate the cleaning function of prestidigation and Durgash might notice a change to his gear. "Oops... Uh, Hello!"

Kae hears a familiar voice... Her head swivels around, and she perks her ears as she looks over... "Ooh!" She calls out, before she reties everything on the wagon...

She then wanders toward the others, and for expediency stops stumping with just her back legs, instinctively switches to a quadrpedal stance and makes her way over.... "Hallo!" She greets, ears now backing as she gives a big toothy smile, her head held up while she looks from person to person,

Durgash blinks as Cryosanthia waves her wand at him and cleans him against his will. "Hello?" he calls to her. "You did something to me by accident? Gah, this place is full of wizards screwing things up." His gaze falls on Kaelyn, he takes a breath, and then just sighs. "You people live to break things, don't you? No barbarian's done worse than a wizard having a bad day."

"It was yes! I'm sorry. This one apologizes. I'm trying them out. Have a... less bad rest of the day?" Cryosanthia calls back, making a small bow. She starts to smooth down her kilt, a nervous gesture, which is about to activate the cleaning on herself again. Spell uncancelled, it's going to keep doing things until it does. She clasps her hands, and laughs at Delilah, "These are great. I will need to get used to them. Thank you so, so much!"

"Peace on your Nest Kaelyn. Good to see you. Everything ok?" Cryo keeps her still, making a small aside to Delilah again, "You know, I've almost never had to turn off my spells. I have to think how."

"I'm sorry if I got rid of your heirloom dirt."

Delilah opens her mouth, and ahhhs, then shuts her mouth, and hmms for a sec. There /is/ a way to turn off the spells, she just... can't remember what it is.

"It's easy," she says at last. "I'm sure you'll figure it out." She smiles pleasantly, and nods towards Durgash. "This place *is* full of wizards screwing up," she agrees, "If you really want something done, hire a sorceress!" She gives a winning smile, before she pushes off from where she was standing. "And on that note, I need to go meet my sister. Been a pleasure -- and if you need anything else," she nods to Cryosanthia, "Come find me! I'm usually staying in a tavern when I'm in town."

Kae blinks, then smiles and sits back on her haunches, forelegs lifting off the ground, before she gets the snow and muck off her hands... "ooh! Buhbye!" She says to Delilah cheerfully.

Kae then peers at the Orc curiously, then squints and suddenly "Soo yer not gonna do what half a dozen orc-folk have done and try to pet me are you?" She asks curiously, her ears are pricked forward too and well she's probably serious! Least her body language is!

She then ooohs "As far as wizards? Yus in my case, partilaly messed up by wizards, buut I'm an artificer, and I got messed up before the wizard made it different!" She says and then looks to Cryo... Suddenly she's waggling her forlegs/arms out to the side "Ooh Oooh! Soo how do you like your time piece!"

Durgash flateyes at Cryosanthia, and says with a grumble, "And now you're being condescending at me. Thanks." He sighs heavily. "Now I know why Warleader Arendt hated Alexandria so much." He peers at Delilah, and then at Kaelyn, and says, "Those are different kinds of wizards, then?" Durgash is one of those who can't tell a wizard from an artificer from a sorcerer. They're all pests, to him.

Charlotte happened to be standing nearby when most of this happened, mostly shopping for foodstuffs. "So...you'd rather fight for someone who considers everyone beneath him, and instead of becoming allies, would rather stomp them under his foot. Am I correct?" The blonde says turning towards the conversation.

"Bye Delilah, I will, I'm interested in a hat too." Don't wave Cryo, don't wave."

To Drugash, "It was a ... my jokes don't go over well with gobbers and oruchs, I've noticed." The white-scaled sith admits, squatting down and picking up the box her gloves came in. Something to hold onto.

"I'm actually a Speaker, not a wizz... it wasn't..."

Then a new voice, a new direction, needs an answer, "I'm not looking for a fight."

Durgash turns his pained expression on Charlotte, and says, "Did I say -any- of that? Why would you assume -any- of that? I just said he didn't like Alexandria. And not even for the same reason I'm finding it frustrating, to be honest. You thwarted his war plans, and he was ... very Dranei. Not everything he did was honorable, though, and you fought better than we did, when all's said and done, so the victory was yours. But I /just missed/ being fireballed by her," he points to Cryosanthia, his ire rising again, "I just got lucky by her choice of wands. If it'd been a fireball wand, I'd be nothing but smoking boots. Just knowing a careless wizard, or Speaker or whatever you are, can incinerate you where you stand -by accident- is not a comforting thought. And you, Miss Just-Walked-Up-And-Assuming, are here accusing me of things when you've never met me before and have no idea what I think of various styles of leadership."

Kae blinks a few times and looks from person to person to person to persoon, back and forth, that long sleek muzzle pointing at different people in turn... "OOOoh, nooo, wizards or sorcerers, or even artificers, to a lesser degree, have to put a bit more effort into things before they actually incinerate someone.." She says and then oohs "But yus, it can sometimes happen by accident." She adds and then taps her chin and pauses, the feather-dragon's ears flickering some... "I'm sooo totes not helping things am I..." She then oohs and adds "If it makes you feel better, I have soooo not incinerated anyone accideently with any artifice!!" She then ooohs "I did sneeze the other day and evidently when the breath weapon fireball thingie landed it made a biiig multi colored explosion like fireworks, and a Gobbo's been running around wanting to reproduce the explosion..."

Charlotte says, "and....at this point...I really do not care. You also don't know everything that happened there either. The name alone is still a sore spot in Alexandria, so even muttering it will draw a lot of ire, even though he has 'withdrawn'. I'm going to guess you don't like any sort of 'magic', and you're from dran as well....""

"They're gloves... not a wand..." Cryo lifts a hand up from her box, showing off the new leather gauntlets. White, fashioned out of some lizard leather. They match her own scales quite effectively, creating the appearance of giant novelty hands with how well they blend. She makes a petting, 'quiet down' gesture in Kaelyns direction. This cleans the Feather Dragon, pets her nose, and might be dangerously close to tugging Kae's whiskers too. Cryo gets a lot more wriggly with her fingers as she shakes them, trying to find the 'off'.

"Ummm... I should go... and see how to stop these..." The white-scaled sith says, selecting directions away from the oruch and this other tall blond human. She slowly backs away. "Peace upon your nests..."

Durgash peers at Kaelyn, who completely fails to placate him, and the back to Cryosanthia, then Charlotte. "So, you don't care what my position is, you're accusing me of being in league with Arendt whether I am or not? I hope that's not how justice is done in Alexandria generally. If that's the case, maybe Charn could learn a thing or two. As far as magic goes, I'm fine with magic, when it's under control and not being flung around without care." He hrmphs, but seems satisfied with Cryo using her magic in a different direction than him.

Charlotte says, "No. I'm accusing you of being a bully. Mishaps happen....and I was distracting you while the Sith'makar left to get her magic under control. Then you mentioned Arendt." She then shakes head head and waves him off....preferring to follow the sith'makar away from the oruch."

Kae blinks at Cryo. "IT's an enchanted item... Just will it to turn off." She says and grins cheerfully at her.. Kae knows quite a bit about enchantments after all, even if she's getting petted... "Ok, 22..." She mutters and hmmmms.... "Is all about will, once the items are attuned to you." She says and grins a bit... Then Cryo mentions she has to go places? Kae tilts her head and well siiighs, then shrugs "Okie, Peace upon your Nest." She says happily..

Kae looks between Durgash and Charlotte... "Ummmm oooh, can you two like not argue or come to blows or anything? I might has to try and stop it and I'm not sure what this body can do."

Durgash boggles at Charlotte. "People flinging magic around out of control -at me-, and -I'm- a bully? Good grief, is that how this city works? I should be happy that mishaps happen? If anyone's bullying, it's you, accusing me of being in league with Arendt." Then she's heading off with Cryosanthia, and he won't stop them or follow, content to have them safely away from him. He peers at Kaelyn, and says, "I'm not allowed to have an opinion or you'll use magic to stop me? You'd better kill me, then, or I'll have the watch haul you up in front of a judge. Try it and see if I don't. Durgash says, "" Charlotte pages: maybe she could meet with raethon to help control her magic. "Ok. Will it to stop. I... I don't think they've attuned yet, I've just got them. Bye!" Cryosanthia calls back to Kaelyn, as she finds a corner to reverse around to get out of line of sight. She exhales strongly and leans back against a wall, still clutching the box in her hands.

"Try it with the gauntlets off Cryo, they probably aren't helping." The white-sith tells herself. She carefully unbuckles them, sliding off the matching armour for the white snakeskin gloves beneath. They still seem to have a mild luminescence around the debossed arcane mark. Putting the gauntlets in the box she brushes down on her leg, which is cleaned. "These and a bath are going to be amazing. Now, c'mon... turn... off! Off! ... now... off!

"Hmmm. Well maybe Fernwood needs some dishes done for a little while...." Cryo tap-taps her thumb on the box. You paged Charlotte with 'that's an idea'

Before Cryosanthia can get too far, Charlotte lands a heavy hand upon her shoulder. "You're lucky he mentioned Arendt, or else I wouldn't have anything to separate you with. If what he said is true, then I do suggest you find someone to help you get your magic under control, or else I drew the ire of an oruch for nothing." She fixes Cryosanthia with a stern gaze. "Find a wizard from rune. At least a wizard will be patient enough to work with you, and work with research. For the time being, I'll keep the attention of green ugly while you get your spells under control. Just....try not to cast anymore spells until you get some help, okay?" She then pats Cryosanthia on the shoulder. "By the way, I'm Charlotte. If you ever need me....I'll be in the noble district. I'm not hard to miss."

Kae peers at Durgash "Noo I never said you shouldn't have an opinion, I just said, no fighty or I'll have to try and break it off, I won't use any magic." She says and shrugs "I can't really cast, and right now I don't have my gadgets, I havn't been able to build new ones because my hands are all wrong.. I said I'd have to try and stop the fight and I don't know how to contrl this body." She says and then she peers at Cryosanthia...

Kae turns and grins... "Take a deeep breath, sit down and just close your eyes. Fooocus..." She says cheerfully... "The enchantments will let ya know they're there, and eventually you'll be able to turn them off..." But you can just attune yer self to them by simply taking a few minutes relaxing and focussing on the gloves and your self."

Durgash watches Cryo and Charlotte speaking together quietly. Conspiring against orcs, probably. He glowers at Kaelyn, and demands, "Who's fighting? No one's fighting. /You're/ the one threatening /me/, last I checked. You ... whatever you are, you're the problem with this city." He grumbles and will stomp off. The cold weather and frustration has got him all on edge.

The white sith-makar jumps a little a the heavy contact, but that's the extent of her motion. She nods, listening along, seemingly appreciative at least until wizards are mentioned. At that point she stiffens. "This one is Cryosanthia. Your help is welcomed. This one will speak with a shaman. Peace on your nest, I have to go. With great urgency."

She turns, and with her hands securely gripping her box, keeping everything in and all her fingers occupied so nothing else goes off, she bolts away down the street.

Dramatis Personae

Delilah
Delilah is a young human woman, of fair skin and stature. She's just under five and a half feet tall, and possessed of a strong feminine confidence and athletic grace.
Her face is narrow and high-cheekboned. Her eyes are a deep, midnight blue, framed with long lashes. In front of her eyes are a pair of round, two-inch wide crystal lenses, rimmed with gold, that just hover in front of her eyes of their own accord. Beneath her nose are her lips, a pale red without makeup, concealing bright white teeth, and often smiling. Her head is crowned with long, curly golden hair; her ears are pierced with delicate silver hoops. Often, she wears a white hat, cone shaped with a wide brim, and decorated with feathers over her right ear and a red ribbon that trails off the back.
About her body she wears a sleeveless jacket of white cotton, with a high collar and dark blue chasing around the edges; it comes halfway down her back, and the gold buttons are usually left open. Underneath she wears a black corset over her mid-size bosom, leaving her midriff bare. Gloves matching the corset come up to just below her elbows, and her right arm is decorated with a colelction of arcane runes. Draped over her shoulders is a white cloak, matching her jacket. A black belt criss-crossing her chest holds a pair of daggers, and a well worn crossbow with a quiver slung across her back.
Around her waist is an oversized belt, holding a collectiong of pouches and bags, and on her right hip a holster for a gnomish-made pistol. Hanging from the belt on her left hip are a small collection of mismatched scroll cases. About her legs is a full-length skirt, slit most of the way up the front; underneath she wears matching white leggings, that tuck into a pair of black boots that come up to mid-thigh, and are held snug by numerous straps with wilver buckles.

Cryosanthia
Cryosanthia is a tall, lithe lizardgirl with flamboyant mannerisms and a flashy style. Her scales are a bright, snow white, complimented by her frills and keratin-scale 'hair' which are the pale blue found in glacial ice. This gleaming tapestry is marred by dark tattoos gouged in her hide, green-black in colouration, which at times have a dark glow. Her snout is long and tapers elegantly. Her legs and tail are likewise graceful, despite being a significant portion of her size and mass. She seems light on her talons and energetic, head glancing quick from side to side. Her eyes are bright and like her frills, the palest of blues with a dramatic slit pupil.
Cryosanthia's clothes are a simple kit of kilted leather armour in white. It is close fitting enough to seem a part of her, but it lacks the lustre of her scales having instead a dull finish. She has sandals that leave her talons free, as well as a hat that is hanging to the back as often as it is on her head. A long blue feather is tucked into the woven band. Finally, she wears a cloak, likewise fashioned from white leather but with a satin interior that matches her eyes. It gleams when the light catches it right. Belted to her hip she has a rapier, a couple of pouches, and a tiny bag on a thong around her long neck.

Durgash
This young oruch male is tall and broad, standing six feet nine inches, with wide shoulders and thickly muscled arms and legs. He has yellow-red eyes and dark hair, which hangs to his waist in a thick braid secured by a leather cord. His heavy brow and solid jaw are pretty ordinary, as orcs go, though he does keep his face cleanshaven. His chest is broad and deep, and his waist is, if not slender, then definitely not fat. His build, overall, is quite athletic.
He is currently wearing a brightly polished breastplate with fancywork along the edges atop a heavy surcoat and padding. The surcoat is dark blue and his sleeves are heavy enough to keep him warm in the dranei winters. He wears heavy leather warrior's gloves when fighting or if it's cold out, otherwise they're tucked in his broad leather belt. His pants are thick brown leather, sturdy and warm with fur at the cuffs. He wears thick leather boots as well, with a bit of fancywork stitched in.

Charlotte
Standing 6' tall, this human lady has long blonde hair which goes down to her mid-back, is usually worn free, worn in an elaborate braid, or kept up in a ponytail. Some of her hair frames her large blue eyes, high cheekbones and angular face completed by pink lips.
She has a curvy body, but her clothes are as much stylish as they are practical. She wears a blue long coat with a high collar that covers her neck, but it folds down onto her shoulders, with a blue button up shirt underneath. The coat typically remains against her with a few chains across her abdomen, with a long back that goes to the backs of her knees. The coat also has long sleeves, when they aren't covered by metal armored sleeves, with a left hand gauntlet, the right hand remaining bare. Around her waist, over top of the coat, she wears a black leather belt, made for the specific purpose of carrying her basket-hilted rapier at her left hip. The rapier has a hand guard that completely covers her right hand when she draws it, and is quite light for her, plus it has a beautifully decorated scabbard, made of the same material as her arm protectors. She has toned arms and slender, dexterous fingers as well. She wears a pair of black pants that seem to be made specifically for her, and her freedom of movement. Her typical wear is a pair of pair of knee length metallic greaves to protect her legs when she is in combat, but outside of combat, she can be seen wearing a pair of black knee length boots, both with a slight heel to them, both with knee guards.
