  • Summary: Shara is playing her lute in the Temple District. Cryosanthia has spent a long day there, some of it sightseeing, a little of it talking with Iron Book representatives, and otherwise hanging around. She stops to listen to Shara, and they share a song with each other. Kaelyn arrives, chasing a phantom light, and Ezil eventually appears as well. They discuss temple wards, then check out Ezil's Vardo, where Cryo tells him the membership options in the Iron Book. Kaelyn leaves to sleep, and Ezil takes the Vardo through Alexandria.

The air of solemn, heavy divinity in the area is often broken by laughter. The dual presence of the deities Althea and Daeus, man and wife, stand towards the center, with their children and their children's temples positioned around them. The presence of the divine is felt not only by their temples, but also by the actions of their worshipers. The great plaza is as a social center, paved in brilliant, white flagstones and covered in benches and sitting areas. Priests, acolytes, and servicefolk of all stripes roam the plaza, going from one task to the other.

At the front of the temples of Daeus and Althea, at the Plaza's centermost point, rests a great fountain, the cheerful waters reflecting the Sun during the day, and the Moon and Stars at night. The fountain is strategically centered, and is oft a place for wisdom and lesson-giving. It is not uncommon for a priest of some stripe or the other to stand there, surrounded by the curious and faithful, delivering messages of hope or contemplation. At other times, it and the plaza become a landscape of celebration of the holy holidays.

Few vendors are seen in the plaza--the nearby temples provide most food or services. Towards the west, the great Bridge stretches across the river, and towards the east, the Redridge mountains. The plaza rests in the midst of it all, the temples massive and grand on the Alexandrian scale.

Shara had been in the Temple district for a while, once again idly strumming and tuning her lute as she watches people go by. Smiling every now and then to passing people as she idly twangs at her lute. Every now and then....few soft plucking lead to a series of notes, but she goes back to tuning....

A white-scaled sith-makar is making her way across the temple grounds. Her path seemingly originating from the Temple of Daeus. Hearing the music, idling and tuning, she alters and alters and sits down beside Shara, "Peace on your Nest."

Shara looks to the white scaled and smiles a bit. "Peace on your nest, white scale." She says in draconic, before changing to tradespeak. "How're you today? oto listen to a bit of music?"

"Yes. A little music will be nice. It's been a long day. Days." The white-scale says, settling, stretching her legs out, her tail out behind, leaning back on her palms. She nods at the lute, "those fascinate me, but..."

She holds up her large hand, with very thick, almost claw-like nails, "Wouldn't work for me."

Shara smiles a bit at Cryosanthia. "Who says? Lutes can be very delicate, so you have to be careful with your claws....but a pick can be used to play.....I could demonstrate...."

The white-scale nods, "This one would be interested." She sits forward, adjusting her rapier out of the way, twisting a little and turning her head.

Shara smiles a bit as she continues her strumming, but her strumming does, slowly....turn into a song....but not one with words....

The sith-makar keeps her head tilted, listening and watching. She is otherwise very still, little motion except her breathing. Her fingers are moving slightly, weak copies of what Shara's hands are doing, until the strumming really takes off, at which point she clasps them together and listens.

"That is very energetic."

Once Shara finishes....she spares a glance to Cryo and...actually blushes. "Sorry. When a song comes out, I can't help but play it. Sometimes, it's.....more. Have you ever heard of the Eidolon Hymn?"

She shakes her head, "No. I have not. I'm Cryosanthia, a Speaker, by the way. Cryo is fine also. What is the Eidolon Hymn?"

"I am Shara. And the Eidolon Hymn is.....the music of creation. Many bards look their whole lives to experience it, and some...just have a connection to it. I've had a connection to it since I was young, and used it to sing my children and grandchildren to sleep. Now...my grandchildren have grown....and my husband is long gone.....so, I went to a bardic college and...it all clicked. Now I simply share with everyone I can....."

"Oh." Cryosanthia says, processing this, attempting to fit it in with what she knows, "So, the Death Singing Dragon, is herself, because that is her part of the Hymn, and others have other parts in the chorus, and you know your own? Your playing is lovely."

"Death Singing Dragon......I think I heard Svarshan mention that once. Though the only one I know that represents death is Vardama....well..who isn't evil, I should say." Shara then tilts her head. "She's one part of the Hymn, I think. The song of gentle passing. There are two others, but one I focus on. Dana being the song of life." She then smiles. "One...is the song of joy and happiness.....and he's right here in this district." She says gesturing towards the Temple of Tarien.

"That is the softskin name for her, the Lady Greyscales." Cryo says, following the gesure, looking in the direction of the Temple of Tarien. She smiles, nodding, "The Silver one. I've heard of him."

"He has many names....including 'The Prankster'. But he is also part of the Hymn. "Not very many people think of his part of the Hymn.....because they focus on the trickster part. Like ELuna....she's also a Huntress Deity....."

"I have heard of him... from a friend, long ago. I have a few friends in Alexandria that follow Eluna, although they have not spoken much of her." Cryo says, her hands fiddly with the front of her kilt, "Let me show you what I can do? I have been practicing and enjoy music."

Look! It's a little flicker of light! It appears to be coming from one of the taller buildings nearby and chuckling can be heard as the little flicker of light drifts along the ground...

This in and of its self maybe won't be a huge deal or maybe shouldn't make folk laugh, but then, well a certain feathered draconic critter can be see twitching, hopping and trying to well catch the thing under its forepaws.... The light moves, and well it's lights and another twitch of the body tail and another leap. This time a small snowbank explodes with Kae landing in the middle of it...

She gallumps through the snow, and again leaps at the thing, this time ner nose impacts a bush, snow lands on her.. There's more laughing from above and Kae shakes her head, before blinking and then shakes her head again..

She then looks up where the light is coming from and shakes a fist at the persons before suddenly flailing silently!!!

Shara looks to the side to find the....creature just before it's covered in snow. She shakes her head before looking to Cryosanthia. "I'd love to hear what you have, Cryosanthia." She says before moving herself to listen to her more fully.

Cryosanthia stands, gliding to her feet and takes a few steps. She's shaking out her arms as she looks skyward, and inhales. A fellow performer might recognize pre-stage jitters. She hasn't noticed Kaelyn, or the light, focused as she is on the stars. She laughs at a random thought, and then she switches 'on'.

She sinks into a stance, one that lets her hips move easily and starts tail-thumping. Left, right, it's a solid, slow beat. At the same time, she starts flicking her hands through Arcane Gestures, the same ones repeating over and over. Her tattoos all start to glow with a soft, unpleasant green. It reflects off her scales, lighting her up in the night. As she does this, ghostly sounds start up around her, chimes mostly, bells, integrated with the back-beat. She's casting, over and over, and adding extra movements of her arms to turn into a sort of dance. Finally, she sings. It's mostly wordless vocalizations that sound like they might be lyrics, which she's forgotten. The only ones which are clear are "Hunt you down", the rest she manages to disguise as a non-language. She is really into the thumping.

Shara tilts her head as she watches Cryosanthia's dancing and rhythms. Strangely, Shara begins to join in.....not with the thumping part, but plays with her lute. When she begins to sing....she's filling in the words for Cryosanthia. non-language...it is not.

When the proper words are added, Cryosanthia relaxes into her performance, all aspects becoming stronger. She picks up a few more of the phrases and incorporates them. Mostly, her movements get looser. She maintains the beat, keeps her secondary phantom instruments going, and Shara's strumming fills in the missing piece. It ends, and she sweeps a stage bow before dropping back to the seat. "It's a hunting song, not sure if it's Eluna's. You've heard it before then?"

Shara looks up to Cryosanthia and....chuckles. "No. Never heard it before in my life." She then chuckles. "Seriously, never heard it before. Someone wanted the song to be heard though."

Kae blinks and shakes her self out, much like a dog... She tilts her head as she hears the music and blinks a bit, before she wanders closer to the singing and then stands up on her hind legs...

She pauses some, then leans idly on a tree as she continues to watch the singing...

"Oh. Well... I should learn the lyrics so I can do it properly." The white-scale smiles, rubbing at her arms, exhaling from her exhertion. She is still bobbing her head a little to whatever is repeating in her mind. "I like doing it."

"With enough practice, I'm sure you'll figure out the words." Shara then pops her neck and begins to stand. "If you wish....I could help you with your music. It'll take a lot of practice, but I have plenty of time to help. Once I rest that is."

Cryosanthia nods, standing along with Shara, "I would enjoy that. I am usually at the Fernwood Pub when I am staying over in Alexandria. There are rooms if you need to rest there."

Kae tilts her head, then beams "Hallooo!" she greets cheerfully, ears perking as she gives a big snaggle-toothed grin.

Shara says, "Thank you, but no. I have my own place...and it's quieter. I shall see you soon though, Cryosanthia." She says before waving to Kaelyn and making her way north...."

"Sleep well Shara, goodbye. Peace on your Nest Kaelyn," Cryo says, looking over at the feather dragon. She asks a questions that could easily be asked of her too, "this one did not see you there. What are you doing at the temple at this time?"

Kae tilts her head "Umm, at first chasing lights..." She says simply, and then puffy cheeks some before she shrugs, then her eears perk forward.. "Then Listening to you guys!" She says and smiles toothily again...

Cryosanthia smiles, "Thanks. Shara helped. Very nice to play with another musician."

Then she tilts her head, "Lights? What sort of lights?"

Kae shrugs "You put out a tiny light, and sometimes, if I'm tired or just not paying attention, instincts take over and I might chase it till I come back to them...." She says and huffs, some smoke leaving her lips and nostrils.... "Some kinds have figured it out and will try to shine lights around when they think I'm distraced so I'll chase..." She says, and as if on cue, there's a little white light dancing near Kae on the tree, her eyes automatically switch toward it..

She twitches, then blinks pauses and shakes her head "Nope not this time!" the light dances back and forth in front of Kae now...

The palescale watches the light, then stares at it. "Where is that coming from?" She looks around at the temples, at their rooflines silhouetted against the sky, at the snow-drifts.

"Isn't it, unsettling? Who would be doing that, out here, from where. Are they trying to lure you, are perhaps fae or will-o-wisps?" Cryo's paranoia kicks in.

Kae tilts her head, and laughs "Ooh it's kids, look!" She says and motions to one of the tall buildings, there's a bit of a flashing up there and if one follows it, one can see the flicker of light on the ground... "See, lights!" She says and shrugs... Wings rising and falling... Kae then shrugs and sits where the light is, so now it's flickering on her chest...

Cryo stares at the winking light on the temple, "Do Alexandrians not value their hatchlings? What is a 'kid' doing up there, at this time? How? This one can't climb that, and wouldn't for fear of drawing a divine eye." She shakes her head, flicks her fingers through and points at the distance. Her arm briefly glows.

She orders, "Go home to your parents, it is late and dangerous." A high pitched "Nuh'uh!" and a snorting laugh is heard before she cuts off her message spell. Her tail lashes.

"This one would not be surprised if they throw themselves from the peak and expect to be caught by a hero. How do softskins survive to adulthood?"

Kae tilts her head and peers at Cryo. "Same way every other sentient species does, lots of learning from dumb mistakes, lots of teaching, lots of growing and quite a helping of luck." She says cheerfully at Cryo...

"Merek. Merek, Merek, Merek. Merek." The white-scale says, shaking her head. "It makes about as much sense as he does. There are demons about, there should be Egg-watchers making sure that one doesn't have a fatal mistake, but I will trust you that everything is fine and not to be a concern."

Ezil comes from the Temple of Althea, taking his time down it's steps. His eyes are skyward, taking in the clear sky and watching the stars for a moment before looking towards the plaza. Figures in the distance, the night making his eyes strain to try and identify anyone he knows, but no. Limits of the human sight it seems. He then heads that way, drawing closer with a raised hand. "Hallo." he calls in the Faring tradition. "It's cold, yes?"

Kae blinks, her head twisting toward Ezil before she offers a wave, and of course a big snaggle-toothed grin. "Hallooo!" She greets cheerfully... Kae's currently sitting on her haunches, talking at Cryo about well the kids up in one of the temple who thinks its fun to get Kae to chase lights...

Kae looks t Cry "Well they're inside a room, so I guess is ok, just annoying." She says and shrugs a bit s she motions to the kids getting off the balcony... "Fun's up!" She says and peers to Cryo now. "Judging by the area, they could be temple wards, or orphans, dunno... They could just be hoodlams."

Kae then glances back to Ezil "Yup... I have a fur coat though!"

"Peace on your nest, Blessed one. Is it cold?" Cryo looks to Ezil, and waves. This is followed by a nod towards Kaelyn, the temples will see to their own. "I've met with Svarshan, and the Iron Book again, about membership. For you."

Ezil pauses, looking between the two. "Take care of who, and what about me?" his glance showing confusion as he had not expected that kind of greeting. "Peace on your nests, White-One. Do explain. Both things?" a smile cast to Kaelyn as he still isn't following everything, but nods. "Well, the kids like to have their fun. I was glad the Temples take them in, and made an exception for one we know." motioning to Cryosanthia. "I hear he's doing well too."

"It's good to know he is." Hearing about Zak seems to relax Cryosanthia some, and she waves her hand in a general way, "Some of the Temple wards have found a light and discovered Kaelyn will chase it if she's inattentive. This light brought her here, then became our topic of conversation."

The white-scale sith demonstrates her ability to keep secrets, or the lack, "The Iron Book explained their memberships and duties to me, so I could tell you. I think I would be unlikely to be more than a casual member. There are advantages to being a sworn one, and more active. Research and training, often. When I have somewhere I can write, I will make better notes for you."

Ezil points towards the Althean Temple. "We can go to the Vardo. It's around back where the carts picked us up. I... well I was letting Blintz, and Waffle stretch their legs." smirking but not making to move. "We might not discuss them so freely, but...." a sigh pemeating his thoughts. "Telmentar guided me this way. I don't know if this is her desire, but I feel I must do something against this threat. It's no small thing."

Cryo blinks, as if the thought occurs to her now. "Oh! Yes. I should talk less. And, yes... something should be done."

She looks over at Kaelyn, "Come with us, there will be time for tea before I finish with my notes and get to anything I should not be extra sharing."

Ezil nods to Cryo, looking towards the Temple. "So... did Svarshan sound as if they might take one like me?" he muses, curious, but not openly using their name. "I sought them out once already, but." pausing in his thoughts. "I don't know if it's a place I belong, though it is a place I know I could be of some help." his mind seeming to weigh this discussion already. "How is Svarshan anyways?"

Kae tilts her head and drops to all fours... SHe looks to Cryo, then Ezil curiously and then grins. She's litterally as big as a horse and she kind of lowers her self some... "HOp on." She says simply... "You guys tell me where we're going..."

"Of course!" Cryo says emphatically, moving to help Ezil climb on top of Kaelyn. As always, she's stronger than casual inspection suggests and can easily lift the man. She's also heavier than she looks, which Kaelyn will feel as she jumps up on her haunches. She point, "Just over there, Right down the way."

Ezil is helped upon Kaelyn's back, blinking as he looks to Cryo, and offers his hand. "Need some help?" the man being stronger than he appears himself, though he does glance towards the front of the Feather-Dragon. "You sure this is okay? I would hate to hurt your back." seeming unsure, but going along with this. "The vardo is on the other side of the Temple of Althea."

Kae laughs, she gets up, yeah, mass makes for a great deal of strength and whatnot... "Okie, this way..." She says, looking to where Cryo points.. She then starts off at a walk, her gate is well, it's suprisingly smooth, considering she kind of moves like a cat and all. Other good news, she's warm, like really really warm, specially at the base of that fur and feathers.. "Naaah, it's Okie, I pull a big wagon now and then and all!! Normally need a draft horse to pull it, I'm the same size and stuff, or close to it." She says and is now making her way toward a Vardo?

Cryosanthia accepts Ezil's assistance to get up, then leans against him so she can reach down and dig into the Kae's feathers to get a good grip on something. Her legs notch in between Kaelyn's legs and her body, so she's somewhat locked on her back. She rolls from side to side with the walking motion. "Not too much unrelated to tell. I saw Svarshan and Sunblade Hubero grappling, much better than Braelnoir and I did."

Ezil nods his head, hands finding a light hold in Kaelyn's feathers, letting his fingers dig in as he holds on with his knees. "Not something I am good at myself. I am a swordsman." his words coming with a strange tone. "Well... I know many weapons. I just prefer the sword." making a distinction, looking forward. "The vardo might not be big enough for all of us, but there will be light and privacy there anyways."

Kae nods and starts to pick up just a bit of speed "Heee... I'm lousy at hand to hand... I mean, those deer I brought to the pub, took me 20 tries to get the three I got.. Mind you that's with just natural stuff.... " She says and grins "Woulda been easier with a pistol." SHe adds and hmms "I'm kinda much better at distance fighting... pistols, bows, my ray gun... I can fight -some- with a sword or my engineer's wrench." She says and then exhails sume, steam rising from her nostrils. "As far as the wagon, you guys get in first, I can kind of block the door."

-=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-<* Ezil's Vardo *>-=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-

This vardo is drawn by a sturdy set of mules. The mules bear a few scars and a can-do attitude; animals who have 'seen a few things.' The inside is a comfortable area, with public places for seating. In one corner are a set of candles dedicated to Althea.

-=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-

Ezil leads into the vardo, lighting the candles near the shrine as he moves to take a seat. "I don't really live out of it, but it has what I need to carry others on the road. Jerboba.... did not want to be in it long." musing as he looks back to the door, and motions around the open wagon bed. It has cushioned seats, and a stained floor, decorated a bit ornately, though in carvings and wood work.

Cryo is careful to keep her claws from gouging the floor. She inhales, "It looks nice, smells very nice. Wood and stain, mostly. Those are nice." She taps at the candles, finds a place to wind herself down and sit, tucking her tail in.

Kae blinks and looks around the door... She pulls her wings very very tight and well kind of three quarters fits into the Vardo... She takes up lots of space... Kae looks around "I likes this wagon... I has a covered cargo wagon my self..."

"Well, it's about what I wanted. I can nap in it on the road, and do what needs be. I still keep my inn room, but.... " Ezil gives a shrug, looking to Cryo as he takes his journal and a writing pen from his satchel he keeps on his side. "Did you want to do this? I mean. You went through a lot of trouble for me but... I feel bad. You worry a bit of me too much, yeah?" his smirk flashed.

Cryosanthia grins and holds out her hands for the book and pen, "This one can write. Let me note down what I remember. I may write some things out of order. This is the locked one, yes? I did not mind, it was nice to see Svashan and talk with new people. Finding things out that would help you was a bonus. The info will help some of our friends, and for the interim, seems like it will be valuable. I'm not really a Warrior, so I don't think I could contribute much. It seems though very much what you should be doing."

Kae oooohs and tilts her head... "I'mm a gonna try and buy me a little warehouse type building.. Build a little living quarters in it and a place to build stuffs and make potions and junk!" she says happily. "Maybe be able to secure it from silly jealous artificers who want the stuff I can research."

Ezil nods to Kaelyn, handing the journal and pen over to Cryo. "Well, it's more one I use for notes. I burned the others.... Just one remains, one I copied what was important too." his glance then to Kae with a raised brow. "I think you'd do well with a shop. I am not the merchant sort. I live a certain way, and this... this is enough for me. "I got great company too. Blints, Waffle, Pancake, and Crepe. My mules once faced down a demon!" he muses, pausing. "Well, they weren't mine at the time."

"So, you think I have something to contribute to them?" Ezil's words for Cryo. "I sought them once, and they didn't think much of me then."

Cryosanthia says, "That sounds like a nice thing to have, the warehouse." She opens the notebook and finds a blank page, starting to write some headers, bullet points and a few descriptions.

"At times it seems humans can do everything and anything, and we sith are stuck in our traditions, past and caste. Easily able to do things we'd never consider." She doesn't look up, talking down at the book, "It took me a while to realize you have the same boxes in the mind, they are only turned and moved. There are things you will not do, because it's not something you do. You are Warrior-Caste-Not-Warrior-Caste, but you are enough Warrior-Caste this one can tell when you need a Speaker. So I told them the things you can't say."

The white-scale lizard girl looks up and smiles, her eyes unblinking, shining sapphire in the candlelight.

Kae tilts her head to the right, ears flickering around before she shrugs "Sometimes tradition is a good thing too.." She says and grins just a bit... "You can do a looot within the tradition and whatnot." She says again and she then beams...

"Humans... we have many traditions, spread among many different places and people. It is why we might all seem odd." Ezil says with a shrug, looking between the two. "The Tsurans, and countless other kinds of people. Same with the kinds of Sildanyar." seeming to not find Cryo's explanation so strange. "I appreciate you playing speaker for me, and yes... I would be of warrior caste. I am near the same as Svarshan. He is a Sunblade, where as I am the Starguard? No, that sounds terrible. I am just... the star-follower? See... this is why I just say All-Friend. It sounds nicer. Sentinel is too... martial." laughing then.

Cryo laughs, holding her hands on the notebook and rocking. "Yes, you should stick to the All-Friend. I'm not against Tradition Kaelyn, I'm very traditional. Speakers have to read minds without being able to, know when to dig, and say what must be said. I know we are reluctant to change what works. Sith-Makar are to Humans as Humans are to Goblins, or perhaps, Arvec Nar to Goblins. We will be left behind if we do not adapt to your world, you will be left behind if you do not adapt to theirs. This is something I've been thinking about, since the concert. Demons, Silvermoon, The Fae, Blar, Sith-Makar, it's not all related, except some groups strive to come out on top. You know there are Sith that do not support the treaty, think we should slaughter soft-skins, ally with the underworlders we are closely related to. Sith who do not value thinking and seeing far. 'Embrace the Goblinity', this one has wondered, and concludes it means, choose the new. So I found a new family for you. A Caste to take you in, Warrior-Caste-Not-Warrior-Caste. You use a shield, a shield needs a shield wall to be part of. That is tradition."

Kae blinks and suddenly she's YAAAWNing... her tongue Lolls and she sighs... "Well my temporary shop is nearby, I'mm atrot over there, curl up in a buuuunch of sail cloth and go to sleep! You guys have a good night!

"Peace on your nest Kaelyn, do not fall for the lights." Cryo says, watching her wriggle out.

Ezil looks to Cryosanthia with a flat expression. "Not all shields are part of a phalanx, but it is true that alone one is always outnumbered." musing as he lets out a sigh. "I do have a family of sorts. I have you, and I have Merek and a few other friends. I am not alone... but... I see your point." standing as he moves to see Kaelyn out, and looking out the vardo door. "White-One, there are humans that don't support the treaty either. I, however don't feel treaty's are necessary to treat others with respect. Scales, or soft-skin. It is not my path to judge people by what they are made of. I look for... well, what they do without words. Who they are." sighing. "Shall I take us to the Fernwood?"

Cryosanthia stands to let Ezil by, making an effort not to take up too much space. Of course, Kaelyn had her beat by miles. She touches his arm gently as he goes by, shaking her head. It's barely a contact, light and gentle, "You see the treaty wrong. It is a way to ask a lot of things at once, that all come down to, 'Can we be friends? Yes / No. Circle one'."

"Yes, to the Fernwood. This one is dreaming on her feet and would rather a bed. I shall be lying on the floor next."

"I don't see it wrong. I just... don't see it as complex as others make it." Ezil offering a shrug as he climbs out and heads to the driver's seat, opening a small window that lets him peek in when he's settled. "You and I are friends. It is not because the treaty. I never once thought... oh, that treaty means we can be friends." winking. "I thought... she's a nice one. One you need to know. Kind, and catching." a snap of the reins heard as the cart lurches forward.
