The Temple is next, with Ramirez the giant white peacock-andalusian hippogryph, demonstrating to all how to sneak through the streets. They pass many guards, looking for something, likely them. The temple is locked up, they debate a dynamic entry but choose to sneak in again. Once inside, the inner doors are warded. Paenitia has no idea how to disable magical traps, but suggests she'll have the best chance as her hands are smallest. Aryia and Seyardu provide bracing and magical guidance. The little Red Knight takes the magic trap apart like a pro. They venture beyond, to discover the Navosians chanting: There is NO PAST; there is NO FUTURE! Ominous!

Previously

Escaping the Tashraani, the adventurers meet Akoniril. She explains they've been framed for murder. She vanishes, and they return to their inn to get their gear.

There is one very large problem. There are a couple of guards parked outside the inn.

Lyme isn't subtle. He can't even see subtle from where he's standing. Sneaking in may be hard. "Can we get in through the kitchen?"

Seyardu stops a distance away. "Perhaps something happened while we were out, or perhaps they are waiting for us. It is hard to say, but concerning."

"Then we find some other way in." Paenitia says, looking at Seyardu, "What you think?"

There are windows on all sides. It is an Inn after all.

"A distraction may be possible. Enough for one to slip in quietly to collect things." Seyardu suggests, looking to the guards." Or we climb to the rooms, go through the window if possible. I think that the best plan for a bad situation, best not to alert the guards unless necessary."

"Ha ha, it is fine, if the climb in fail we will have our distraction." The Dark Lucht says, nodding towards Lyme, "that be your chance."

"Okay Friend Dragon, lead the way." She tells Seyardu.

Now

Away from the guards, but keeping an eye on them in case they look their way, they make their way around to the back of the building hopefully, to scope out the back. Seyardu turns to the group.

"A window may be able to be picked or forced open, if we know our rooms from them. Then our things are brought down." They suggest. "And if we make a commotion, one of us could slip in if the guards investigate. It seems they think us in the wrong though, unfortunately."

Aryia raises a nervous hand. "I can try and get our things. Climb in." <Handspeech>

Paenitia follows, watching Aryia's handwaving and Seyardu's tail. There are messages there, but she doesn't understand them. She whispers, "Who climb the best, who the strongest base?"

"I may be able to help lift one up." Seyardu quietly suggests with a glance up to the window. "This one has supplies for climbing one may use, if they would help. Boost upwards, to the window to take a look once you climb up, Aryia? With you, you may be able to force the window open."

Aryia gives a sharp thumbs up and rolls her sleeves up. The elf is muscled and toned, perfect for clambering up ropes and sails. This shouldn't be any different.

"I watch the alleyway." Paenitia says, keeping close to the two and watching their back-trail.

"I will give you a leg up, Aryia." Seyardu offers after handing her keys to the shadow elf. "Paenitia, give her your keys as well, so when she gets upstairs, she is not forcing locks open. The quicker, the better for her to move through the halls."

She takes a spot between windows and crouches down, offering a step up and boost to Aryia to make the climb shorter and easier.

Aryia rolls her shoulders, standing in front of Seyardu. She does a stutter step and hops up, getting a boost from the silverscale. Two handholds later, she pulls herself into a window sill, slide a window open, and silently vault in. She makes her way to each of the rooms as quietly as possible, returning to the entry point to quietly let down their belongings.

Paenitia hands up the keys, before Aryia gets out of reach, which would be after her first boost. After, she watches the Mul'niessa climb and vanish. She nods approvingly, "She is the ghost."

It does not take long for Aryia to sneak to the rooms. They look like they've been ransacked thoroughly, interestingly enough, but most of your things have been tossed aside. If they're looking for something, they didn't find it, and they don't care about most of your things

Aryia comes back with her small bag of things, vaulting out the window like a flawless bandit. She lands on her feet perfectly and quietly, with a bread roll shoved in her mouth. "They're looking for something. They went through our stuff." <Handspeech >

"They seek the scrolls, or the pen, or the decanter, or the turducken or whatever the auction item turn into." Paenitia whispers back quietly.

After helping Aryia up, Seyardu takes a step back, watching the other side. She takes some of the things, and she nods. "It seems they did not believe our accounts." Seardu sighs as she begins fastening her armor. "Our things looked through, they did not intend for us to return, clearly."

Aryia huffs through her nose, polishing off the bread she swiped. "Temple?" she asks. <Handspeech>

"To the temple, yes." Seyardu agrees. "The priest, if they are there, will have answers, whether they wish to share or not. What they spoke of is not a small matter, and the fact that history is unstable is concerning. Though we will not leave without Dame Paenitia's companion, yes? It is likely not safe to leave them be."

Aryia nods at that idea.

"Yes, we get Ramirez." Paenitia says, creeping along the alleyway, "this should be quick, then we get the others and go to the temples."

Lyme just saunters along beside the giant bird like nothing is weird nothing at all, why are you looking this way at all.

"See?" Whispers Paenitia, "No one see him, he hides so well. Hide behind him, no one see you too."

The silverscale in particular is given this advice.

What mul? No muls here. Aryia follows in the wake of Ramirez's moonlight shadow.

The hippogryph was certainly good cover for moving. Everyone was busy seeing the large peacock-horse, that no one saw the sith-makar being hidden by their brilliant plumage. Seyardu gives Ramirez a gentle pat on the flank as they continue on, and she keeps an eye on the streets.

...to the Temple of Navos! You are able to dodge the guard patrols on the way. You do see more of a presence. No doubt they are hunting for their escapees.

Eventually, you're back in front of the Temple. There it and its giant hourglass are waiting for you. Everything appears to be perfectly normal.

"I have the desire to smash the hourglass so they care that we have arrive." Paenitia says, darkly with a hint of humour. She rides Ramirez quietly up the steps, "Perhaps on the way out if they do not listen. Come, we see if we get the straight sprint or the circle jogging."

"Save it for the way out." Seyardu says as the head for the steps. "Best to keep them in as good spirits as possible. Not to mention there were wards mentioned, and drawing guards here would not be the best idea. Unless it could be used as a distraction?"

At the door, she turns to those present, taking a look just in case before she knocks on it.

Lyme takes a deep breath. "I... I am scared of all of this."

There is no immediate answer when the door is knocked on.

How Navosian to take their time.

Lyme says, "..."

"Peace, Lyme, it will be alright. This one will admit, they feel completely out of scope, but we will manage. If we can not resolve this together, which I think we can accomplish, then we will at least return, and find a group better equipped for the scope." They say to Lyme knocking on the door again.

"Perhaps, we should make our way in instead?"

"Can Aryia climb in, open the doors for us?" Paenitia suggests, reaching for her warhammer and glancing down the stairs at the hourglass again, "we want to avoid ring the bell."

Lyme nods slowly. "That seems wise."

GAME: Seyardu casts Detect Magic. Caster Level: 5 DC: 13

"Perhaps, though it may be warded inside." Seyardu replies, looking to the windows. "It is the choice between alerting one who wishes not to be seen, or causing commotion due to breaking in. One moment, please."

She looks at the windows with a hand on her collar, chanting a brief prayer in draconic, before she takes a better look at the window.

The place is warded, of course. The windows certainly, and there are illusion magics on the hourglass out front, and several others in other places.

Aryia rolls her shoulders. She could do more climbing if she had to.

"If you go through the window, do not break it, and do not force it. There are wards upon it." Seyardu warns as the mul'niessa seems to be getting prepared. "If anything happens, we will be through the door in a moment."

GAME: Aryia rolls stealth: (17)+12: 29

Aryia slinks around, quiet as a mouse. She's gone for a moment before returning, a bit pouty. "I found a door, but it's locked. I don't know how to unlock them," she signs, hoping Seyardu will translate. <Handspeech>

Paenitia watches as Aryia disappears, then reappears, then her hands. She looks at Seyardu, then Lyme, "Ideas?"

Lyme pauses. "What did she say?"

"There is a door, but it is locked. The one leading out here?" Seyardu asks, translating for the mul. "And you saw no signs of the cleric in the main area? They were supposed to be planning on meeting us, after all."

Lyme bites his lip. "Should we just climb in the window?"

"Maybe that work. Ramirez can give the boost. You go in, get the priest to get the door open. I keep watch." Paenitia suggests, moving her peacock-andalusian closer to the wall where they could step up.

"No, the doors goes inside. It's on the side, small. elf sized. Just it's locked," she clarifies, watching Ramirez maneuver about, she gives a little sigh and nods preparing to climb once again. Perhaps she could get in then unlock the door for them. <Handspeech>

"Then we wait here to enter. And we investigate that door, together." She agrees, watching Aryia prepare to reenter. There was an uneasiness to the air, and the silver sith-makar sighs. "I do not like this. I hope nothing is amiss, in there, and we are merely rudely interrupting their sleep, much as ours was."

Lyme nods slowly. "I think everything is amiss, but we must find out."

"I agree with that. The past change. Things change before our eyes. People are murdered that we never know. Much amiss." The Red Knight summarizes.

Aryia is going to climb with Rameriez as a boost.

Ramirez agrees, bobbing his head with a quiet, 'Ruaaaaah.'

They're going to do it.

They're gonna investigate ... the door.

GAME: Lyme rolls perception: (1)+4: 5 (EPIC FAIL)
GAME: Seyardu rolls perception: (2)+3: 5
GAME: Aryia rolls perception: (11)+13: 24
GAME: Paenitia rolls perception: (13)+4: 17

Aryia and Paenitia both find some small magical sigils along the frame of the door. It's definitely warded!

With a steady enough hand they could be disabled, of course. But... do these adventurers have the hands to do it?

Paenitia is inside, and notices some small magical sigils along the frame of the door. The Dark Lucht sighs, this is not something she knows how to deal with. She stares at it for a moment, "Okay, stand back, I have the small hands."

She examines the ward, preparing to attempt to disable it.

Lyme steps back, giving a good birth. "How did you /see/ tha--" he trails off in wonder.

GAME: Seyardu casts Guidance. Caster Level: 5 DC: 13

Seyardu blinks squinting at the door, before she steps back, leaving a hand on Paenitia's shoulder for a moment. "You see it? Good, I believe you can deal with it." She reassures, though not sure herself, she hoped the small prayer would help as she closed her eyes a moment

GAME: Aryia rolls dexterity: (13)+4: 17 (Aid Another)

Aryia scratches her head, helping keep the Lucht steady for the hard to reach places.

GAME: Paenitia rolls dexterity: (20)+3: 23
<OOC> Aryia says, "that's a nice solid 26 with the help"
<OOC> Whirlpool says, "Just ... wow."

Paenitia stares at the sigil. She's seen this done before. She has no idea what she's doing. As Aryia's hands rest on her back and steady her, and Seyardu's guidance is cast, she feels the benefits.

This will go much better if she takes off her heavy metal gauntlets!

She does, unbuckling them, and stuffing them into her belt, and reaches out. She does have small, dark hands. Nimble fingers and short nails, unpainted.

Maybe it's the divine blessing. Perhaps a punchline awaits. Inexplicably, she lifts, slides, and perfectly neutralizes the sigil.

Success!

The door opens.

Immediately, now, you can hear low chanting. It's coming from somewhere inside that temple. A lot of voices, actually, perhaps a dozen or so commingled. There's something off about it, but it's hard to place exactly what. Inside is all that's left at this point once the door is open, and with a bit of luck, you've got ten there already. Pushing inside leads you through the darkened interior of the temple, coming closer to the source of the chant. A chill is settling into your bones as you stealth closer, silently.

Now to the main room, you hear the chanting end and a voice echo, "THERE IS NO FUTURE. THERE IS NO PAST. ALL IS AS ONE."
