Remember, Remember

Erendriel is all out of sorts as she sits at the fountain itself, her broom leaning beside her. Biting her lip, shaking her head, looking around a bit.

Hun'rar comes walking into the square with a large bag over his shoulder, wearing his full battle gear. It looks like he is returning from a trip. "Nice broom." he says as he walks over to Eren after spotting her. "Get good speed on it?"

Seldan is sitting on a bench a bit away from the fountain, not far outside the main doors to Eluna's Temple. He does not seem to have spotted either to this point, and seems to have been meditating, cloak wrapped firmly around him, though. He looks up at Hun'rar's voice, though, and over towards the fountain, searching for its source.

Erendriel looks up to Hun'rar and waves. "Hi," she says with a soft sigh. The comment on the broom has her giving it a quiet command. It lifts off of the cround and turns into its flying position and floats right up in front of her, before she gives the command and grabs it out of the air again, to lean it again. "It's fast. I'm really happy with it. I took it out last night before... all that stuff happened here. Lots of bad things keep happening in Alexandria now. It's really getting hard to deal with."

Hun'rar sets his bag down with a heavy thump, sounds like he is carrying something like rocks in it. He then takes off his helmet and puts it down as well. "What happened?" he says with some concern "Asumet? Heth? Plague?"

Seeing the broom, Seldan sighs, unfolds himself, and stands, lips set, his strides carrying him over to the fountain. That all changes, though, when he spots the look on both faces, and he frowns as well. "Blessings of the morning and evening on you both," he greets, looking between them. "Is something amiss?" It is clear that he had not heard the whole thing.

Erendriel waves to Seldan, and points around. "Well, just a few days ago, that baby primal dragon crashed into that orphanage, and killed a bunch of people who were walking nearby," she explains, revealing more info than was to the Tribune (+Bbread 14/11 - Ed.) "And then Kol attacked one of the temples and killed some people I think? I came by last night and they were holding a memorial service, sending lanterns into the sky." She pauses, sniffs, and rubs her eyes. "And then she showed up. Her name is Yukia. She's a demon or a devil, I couldn't tell which. And she's the one pulling Kol's strings. She's the one invading the tower, and hijacking it."

Hun'rar narrows his eyes "Yukia... what was she like? Did she survive?" he asks very carefully, as much trying to keep his own burning anger in check at the idea as well as stopping himself from asking a million questions.

"We heard the crash in the Temple." Seldan nods to Eluna's marble temple, just a bit off the main plaza, seating himself on the fountain's edge nearby with a deepening frown. "I knew of Kol's assault on the Grey Lady's Temple, I was among those who sought to stop him. A primal dragon? Was that what hit the orphanage?" For the rest of it, he falls instead to listen, his entire bearing set and determined. "So. She shows herself, at long last. Yukia, you said. I would hear all that you can tell."

Malik has taken to a more traditional form of travel -- walking. It's gotten him around just fine so far, no reason to think that it won't continue. He doesn't approach the main group just yet, staying just close enough to hear what's being said.

Munch strolls his way through the market, peering around in a casual sort of way. Spying a growing collection of known individuals by the fountain, the metal man drifts taht direction, lifting a hand in greeting. "Salutations. What's everyone up to this morning?" he inquires casually... likely not aware of any of the recent events.

Bildor and his digger stroll through the temple distract. He has a sack of fruit that he digs in and hands piecs to his companion woh messily chomps each. "So, I think we'll wait until you're done growing for that. Unless it ends up being an issue." He pats the digger and slows as he sees the gathered group. Approaching them with a wave. At least one is familiar.

Erendriel nods to everyone, waving to arrivals she sees. Gripping her broom again, she continues her story. "Well she showed up and mocked the people who were putting their hearts into the memorial, and trying to move on from their grief. She froze the lanterns, and the chunks of iice were falling down, and hit some people on the head and stuff. I got back into the air, and yelled at her about how I don't think I can forgive how she's twisted Kol. Having seen him as a boy, and how kind he was to his sister, I know there's good in him."

Inhaling, gathering herself. "She says she didn't do it, but she could be lying for her cause. I wasn't super close, so I didn't get a really good look at her, but she's small, she talks with an attitude, and she has a tail. She uses ice magic. I know that for sure because then a fight started." She pauses again to gather herself.

Hun'rar takes his own seat on the fountain as he listens, an involuntary shudder crosses him at the mention of ice magic. "Sounds... like the work of evil." he adds as he listens intently.

"It is possible that she did not," Seldan remarks once Erendriel has paused, his Myrrish accent lightening a little as he puts thought into his words. "A thousand years is a great deal of time to turn aside. In the tale of his boyhood that I was told, the boy was no stranger to cruelty visited upon him, and perhaps there was another thing that twisted him first. This being merely exploits it - and the tower - and the plague - to her own ends, to create suffering. I would know why this Kol chooses to serve such, if his power is so great as I have seen. What does she hold over him?"

Munch buzzes quietly, listening. "Kol... that's the vampire, yeah? This ice person the whoever he works for? Small, tail, uses ice, likes suffering? Sorta sounds like an imp, but those things are pathetic weak." Says the guy who crushes stone with his hands.

"All..well most at least have good in them. Those that do not, have no choice in it. It's their nature. How..or what they are." Bildor says this with his head slightly bowed and his voice lower than usual. "But to interupt a period or mourning like that is..." He bahs and shakes his head then pats his digger on the head. "Maybe we'll need to get that armor sooner."

Erendriel nods to Seldan and Munch. At this point she's back to where she was when she arrived, on the verge of falling apart completely. Sniffing. "Kol is the vampire. One of the towers took some of us back in time to when Kol was a young elf. I saw what his life was like first hand. His father was horrible to him. But Iolaire taught him a lesson, even as we all tried to show Kol kindness. We even taught him a song. I tried to help Iolaire with the father, but she didn't want my help. I actually wondered if the mistress WAS his sister, but Yukia is definitely not an elf. She's an outsider."

Going into her haversack for a cloth, she dips it into the fountain and takes a moment to wipe her face before going on. "But yes, Yukia claimed the same title, mistress. I didn't want to fight her on the spot, since she's clearly very strong. But another adventurer took a shot at her, and then it all turned into a fight. She used ice magic entirely. She fired a few cones of cold at me. I think she could see me through invisibility without even trying. I know that because, well, once things got bad, and I failed to doa nything about the faling ice except to vaporize one, I threw a fireball at her. It hit her full on, she didn'd dodge or evade the blast in any way, and she didn't even flinch. She's an ice wizard of some kind who is completely immune to fire as well."

Then a sniff and a pause. "It got her mad though. She chased me for an hour. She can actually fly very fast, I could only stay ahead of her because she kept trying to attack me, while I just cast invisiblity and flew flat out for an hour, before her summoning circle ended and she vanished. That's right, there was a golden circle beneath her when she arrived."

Erendriel adds quickly "Pardon me. Not one of the towers. IT's just one tower. But one manifestation of the tower."

Hun'rar shakes his head "Well your safe now. Sounds like a nasty customer, no two ways about it." he says shaking his head "Thank you for sharing, it's valuable information for taking her down."

Munch considers. "....do you remember the circle? Might clue in what sort of outsider she is. I met an ice devil once, looked like a bug. But maybe the girl devils look different." He considers a few moments, buzzing softly. "Maybe it was a girl bug. I didn't ask. Was busy with the big mouth one that tried to eat me."

Seldan absorbs the information in silence, then slowly, hesitantly, reaches to put an arm around Erendriel if the girl will allow it. "You are not alone in this fight, Erendriel. Far from it. It will need all of us to put a stop to this Yukia and her lackey, to end that tower, and to find the cure to that plague. We must all stand together."

Erendriel nods to Hun'rar, agreeing with his thoughts completely. "Of course. I want to help." Then to Munch. "I was letting my own lantern up when she appeared. I didn't get a great look. I saw a gold flash, and a circle, but that's it. If I'd been in the air at the time, maybe. But I was on the ground."

Sighing heavily. "And no sorry I'm just a little off right now. There are two towers. There's the main tower that Zeheir built. And the second tower he built for testing things. There appear to be many towers, but there are just two. Oh, and Kol? He's from Alexandros. That's where he lived all that time ago. My feeling is that if we do stand together and win this, it will involve turning him back to good somehow. Freeing him of the evil that has taken him. Maybe that's optimistic and he's been too twisted, but it's what I want. Somehow."

Munch buzzes thoughtfully, and shrugs. "Just a matter of time. They keep showing up in town, eventually I'll bump into them. Never met a monster I didn't kill or make friends with." He considers a few moments. "Well, few -I- didn't kill, but they died anyway."

Hun'rar nods "Indeed, perhaps a drink or some stew from the Ox would help a bit, some warmth and good friends for company always lifts my spirits. This will be overcome like so many other evils."

"I fear this threat mat be beyond us." Says BIldor to his digger with a wide sile. Big enough that even his beard can't hide it. He turns to look at Erendriel then to each of the others. "We are new here and young. But will do what we can to help." He pauses and pats the digger again. "I just hope that a glarious death is the only thing we cxan do to help." He leans on the digger like a wall. "We can't save everyone. We can try. BUt it's a sad fact that we can't. What we need to keep in mind is what course will save the most."

"Undeath twists any unfortunate or foolish enough to touch it," Seldan answers, letting the arm drop as it does not seem needed. Instead, he looks over at Bildor, serious gaze studying them both. "It is not beyond all of us, standing together," he tells the man. "If you think that you cannot be of aid, perhaps you know the parable of the nail?"

Erendriel sighs, clearly not all THAT comforted yet, and goes into her pack to pull out a wand. A wand made of chocolate. She brings it to her mouth like she's going to eat it.. but then decides against it. "I could use the chocolate... but this is actually a magic wand. It has one casting of Prestidigitation in it. Would any of you be able to make use of it?" Well, that she specifically aims at Munch and Bildor, as she knows the others are likely capable of such magic innately.

Munch buzzes softly in confusion, looking at Seldan. "...I touched all sorts of undead. I'm fine. And is that the parable where if you've got a big enough hammer, everything turns into a nail?"

...that's not how -any- parable goes.

Looking to Erendriel, the metal man shakes his head. "Thanks, no. Can pull off that spell on my own. Chocolate is nice, but think you'd like it better."

Hun'rar laughs "I have one as well." he roots around in his bag to find a similar chocolate wand. "Good food and drink will do the job, I am sure."

Bildor shakes his head. "I mean directly. From what i've heard they are capable of, me and Cinnabar would psoe no challenge." He shrugs and looks at Seldan. "It's good to know ones limits>" He pushes off the digger to stand as tall as his stout form can. "That being said, we'll try. We will do what we can. Even if that means making sure refugies are fed and warm. There's always something." He shrugs and wobbles a hand. "Maybe. Probably. Or one like it." He points to munch. "If you're a hammer every problem looks like a nail." He pauses. "The nail that sticks out get's hammered down?" Then he shakes his head at Erendriel. "You're very kind to offer but I'm certain that this one.." He jabs a thumb over his shoulder at his companion. "..would find and eat it before the day is over."

Seldan looks up at Munch, levelly. "That was ... not quite what I had meant. Say rather that undeath itself is a thing of evil, a disruption to the Holy Order, and those unfortunate or foolish enough to become undead cannot avoid its corruption of their very souls. If we can save him, we will, but ... it may not be possible." As the others pull out wands, he studies them. "I believe I have at least three of those, in my quarters."

To Bildor, he shakes his head. "For want of a nail, the horseshoe was lost. For want of a horseshoe, the horse was lost. For want of a horse, the message was lost. For want of that message, the battle was lost. For the loss of the battle, the war was lost. For the loss of the war, the kingdom was lost. And all of that, for want of a nail. Even the smallest thing may prove crucial to a great effort. Do not discount your place among those of the Light, no matter how small it might be. Know that there are evils beyond you, but do such good as you may, and you might find that victory would not have been possible without your work."

Erendriel smiles to everyone as the wand is roundly turned down. She then looks to Seldan, and goes wide-eyed a second. "Oh sorry were you... sorry I Was distracted. I think i need to fly around a bit. I have to admit that flying... I like it. More than I imagined. After using a potion to chase that primal dragon.. I really did get a thrill from that. I think just going for a fly would do me a lot of good. So if you'll all excuse me." She then nods to SEldan in particular, then climbs onto her flaming broom, and takes off into the sky.

Munch blinks with a click, peering after Erendriel. "...chase the what dragon?"

Hun'rar nods "I have to get home myself, I have been away from home for too long. I will catch up with you guys after I get settled back in on strategy. " he says lifting his bag.

Erendriel does hear the question before leaving. "There was a dragon that crashed into the orphanage. A baby primal dragon. Nobody's really heard of them or what they are but there was a vague mention in an old arcane library about them existing. That's all I know..."

Bildor listens to Seldan and nods. "Right. We may not yet be able to go head to head with those of great power. BUt there is always something we can do." His eyes follow the flaming broom with a slight head shake. "Must make her quite the target." He shrugs and blimcs up onto the digger. "With all that's goung on, we should be training." He clicks his tongue and the digger starts to wheel around. "Good day, all." Calls out the khazad as his mount trots off.

Munch blinks. Blinks again. "....there was a dragon and I -missed- it?"

"Just so, my friend. Good training to you." Seldan watches Erendriel fly off, shaking his head in bemusement with set lips. Somewhere in that movement, there's a roll of the eyes implied. "A primal dragon," he answers Munch, his eyes lowering. "We heard the crash in the temple, but the Seers who went did not see anything save the people turned to dust."

Just then, a boy emerges from Eluna's temple, and runs up to the fountain in the way that only young boys do. "Ser Seldan, they're looking for you!" He sighs and stands, looking around at the others. "I will return, as I can, and learn what I can of primal dragons. In truth, I know little." Without waiting for a response, he turns to follow the boy back to the Temple.
