===========================================================( Connected* )=====

A near by farming hamlet has requested the Adventurer's Guild hunt down the culprits who have been stealing their sheep. You have been collected just outside the hamlet at the scene of the last sheep rustling. The farmers have left you largely to yourselves to discover and deal with the culprits.

Kroth looks around for a bit, trying to see if he can notice any tracks. "Sheep theft could be many things. Creature or humanoid. We must find tracks." He keeps moving around, looking at the ground.

GAME: Kroth rolls survival: (16)+9: 25

Bennet isn't much of a farmer, but knows well enough the troubles that can come from a livlyhood being stolen. "My bet says hungry critter, but reckon best have a look around before jumping to conclusions."

GAME: Bennet rolls perception: (6)+7: 13

GAME: Kroth rolls perception: (13)+7: 20

Mara is currently hunched down near a mess of tracks and confusion in the mud, tracing the outlines of individual prints with a finger. It's farmland, so there's naturally a lot of wagon and livestock tracks; the elf, who's been mostly silent until now, finally straightens up, hands on her hips and frowning. "Hmh," she says, succinctly. 3 <OOC> Mara says, "So, survival and perception? Or just one of them?"

GAME: Belladona rolls survival: (9)+7: 16

GAME: Belladona rolls perception: (3)+11: 14

GAME: Mara rolls survival: (1)+13: 14 (EPIC FAIL)

<OOC> Mara inhales a bug.

GAME: Mara rolls perception: (19)+13: 32

You paged Kroth with 'You see the tracks, small three toed feet leading away from the hamlet and into the woods.'

Belladona is kneeling down and she is talking to Samafa, "I know they look delicious and normally I wouldn't care if you hunted any of these sheep. People really can't own animals, but we have to try not to eat these ones." She tells the feline as she rubs her ears. "Let's do our best to find who is behind this." She gets up to look around and Samafa follows after her.

<OOC> Mara says, "Oh, right."

GAME: Mara rolls 1d20+5: (13)+5: 18

<OOC> Mara has an animal companion too. <.<

Kroth pauses, kneeling down and pointing. "Some tracks, three toed feet." He points off towards the woods. "Going that direction."

You paged Mara with 'You SEE small three toed feet tracks but.. you can't really track them...'

<OOC> Belladona says, "Hi5's Mara"

You paged (Belladona, Bennet) with 'Yeah.. you guys don't see anything.'

Mara, distracted for a moment by dust whirling up and getting in her eyes, makes a small coughing noise, and rubs at her face. "Looks--" she chokes slightly, coughs again, and tries once more. "Looks good." The white-haired elf stamps her foot against the ground, then pushes it forward. At the signal, felt through the vibrations of the earth, the elf's own companion makes an appearance, slithering through the underbrush: a gigantic green anaconda. Creeeeeepy.

<OOC> Kroth says, "AHH! Kill it!"

Bennet sees many things. Most his ass. The donkey wants a sugar cube, and keeps shoveing into the Absolution, seeking attention. "Bah, shove off, will ya? Got enough troubles without your fat tail in my way."

<OOC> Bahken says, "Clearly the snake must die... j/k ;)"

<OOC> Mara says, "No killing snakey. :("

<OOC> Bahken assumes you all follow Kroth?

<OOC> Belladona says, "Sure."

Kroth watches the snake, likely he noticed it as the group traveled to the village. He starts following the tracks, looking back long enough to ensure others are coming too.

Belladona looks over at the snake as it comes this way and she looks over at Mara, "Interesting choice of companions. Hopefully the cold won't bother it." She says as she and Samafa head off with the others.

<OOC> Kroth says, "snakey is mad your making it crawl in the snow"

<OOC> Mara says, "Snakey has a minor enchantment on it to make it less bothered by the cold."

It's kind of a long walk all and all, less than a day though. After a few hours you, you come upon the side of a small wooded mound. The area is pretty dark and there's a cave leading into the mound that's even darker.

Mara doesn't seem to let the comments faze her; she trots along, expression unreadable, occasionally stooping down to let her fingers trace across the scales on the giant snake's head. As the group approaches the cave, she slows her pace a little, unslinging her bow from across her back and testing the draw once, still without a word. Clearly the elf is all business.

Bennet hrumps quietly, eyeing the mound/cave, unslinging his long Thunderbelcher. "Reckon we best try to solve all this peaceful like. But don't figure our chances are too good for it."

Kroth slips on a pair of brass knuckles as they get close, gesturing to the cave and whispering. "Tracks go in there. I can see in the dark, but I suppose someone else will need a light."

<OOC> Mara has low-light vision, but if it's pitch black she'll need a light source.

Belladona nods, "If you will give me a moment there are a few spells I'd like to put on Samafa before we go in." She says as she starts by taking a herb out of one of her pouches and she rubs it in her hands before she applies it to Samafa's limbs and body to make her stronger. She then gets out a different herb that she rubs it on Samafa's furry sides to strength her hide.

<OOC> Kroth says, "I'm going to drink a potion of mage armor before we go in the cave. 1hour seems long enough"

<OOC> Mara will cast Light on the tip of her bow, then.

Bennet takes a moment to tie the donkey's reins to a tree branch. The gunman doesn't tie too tight, since the jackass will get loose and wander off no matter what, but at elast it'll know where to not wander too far from. That cared for, Bennet takes a small golden rod from hsi pouch, giving the top a sharp twist before reatching it to his belt, where it glows with a soft yellow light.

Mara pauses at the approach to the cave entrance, raising a hand to the tip of her bow... but stops at the flare of light from the human's direction, glancing over at him and giving him a small, curt nod. The white-haired elf strokes a finger in a pattern across the giant snake's head, and it slithers off to the side, to conceal itself in the underbrush and bring up the rear guard.

<OOC> Belladona says, "I'll be in frontish"

<OOC> Bennet is a big guy in metal with a glowing light and a weapon named for the very loud noise it makes. 'Sneak' is not in my skill-set.

<OOC> Kroth says, "Kroth will take front since he can see in the dark"

<OOC> Kroth says, "Sounds fine"

As the party journey's into the cave, it continues in a tunnel, Bella, Kroth and Mara notice in the distance the tunnel seems to open up, and the party can hear some yipping like that of a dog.

Mara creeps cautiously along, bringing up the rear, bow out and an arrow ready to be nocked. Clearly the elf believes in taking no chances. She's... rather surprisingly less silent and ghostlike than one would expect from one of the Sylvanori. But then it takes all kinds, one supposes. "Is that..." she hisses, then abruptly falls silent, not wanting to give away their position -too- early.

<OOC> Bahken reminds you that the party is glowing :P

GAME: Belladona rolls knowledge/nature: (12)+10: 22

Bennet snuffles, shuffles, clanks, and thumps. Not loudly, mind you, but the cowpoke isn't the quietest fella around, though he does make an effort and doesn't say anything as the group starts to get close. Just double checks his weapon.

You paged Belladona with 'Sounds like.. wait, that's not a dog.. that's... KOBOLDS!'

<OOC> Mara wants to know what it is toooooo.

GAME: Mara rolls knowledge/nature: (2)+10: 12

<OOC> Mara says, "The dice are not with me today."

You paged Mara with 'mmmMMmmm?'

From afar, Mara wanted to know what the yipping noises were. :P

You paged Mara with 'And my response is mmMmmm with a shoulder shrug :P'

You paged Mara with 'Think I unno with your lips closed :P'

Mara pages: Clearly mummies! Barking... mummies... >.>

You paged Mara with 'Might be a dog you're not familiar with...'

Belladona raises her hand and she frowns a little bit, "That isn't a dog, it's a group of kobolds."

Kroth nods, "Then we should rush in and beat them all." He flexes just a bit, warming up. "I am ready."

Somewhere in the darkness, the snake looks hungry at the mention of kobolds.

The party's about sixty feet off from the widening of the tunnel.. they can see nothing.. If there are kobolds, they likely notice the approaching light..

<OOC> Bahken says, "Who's moving closer? :D"

GAME: Bahken rolls 13: (13)+13: 26

Bennet murmurs softly. "Always a chance is a misunderstanding. Can ask them what's going on, try to make peace... and if it fails send them all to meet the Boss Lady." When you work for the Goddess of Death, terminology can get... odd.

<OOC> Mara is actually going to pause, locate the snake and cast Barkskin on it. 'Cos you never know.

<OOC> Bahken says, "Go ahead"

<OOC> Bahken says, "Nice rolls"

Hanging a little back, the reticent Sylvanori lets her companion catch up to them... and with a series of gestures and a faintly herbal-smelling ointment rubbed into select scales, produces a subtle effect on the snake, making its scales appear a little harder and larger. Finally, Mara hurries back to catch up with the rest of the group. "Kobolds are usually... not very receptive to diplomacy," she observes, as they round a corner.

From afar, Bennet clarifies, is assume is evil, so will use smite. If he's not, let me know so I don't add the bonuses.

"Ackthbpf--" says Mara, mouth full of magical spiderweb. Fighting to free herself from the tangling mess, she only manages to lodge herself even further in an embarrassing position. "Oh, bother."

Mara finally gets the heck out of those magical cobwebs! She stumbles a step or two forward, trying to reorient herself(and free her bow from the webs as well).

Meanwhile, Mara's trusty animal companion has seen fit to reenact its favourite scene from the movie "Anaconda": it shoots out of the shadows like a spring-loaded toy box snake, impacting teeth-first onto a kobold's HEAD. Not satisfied with fastening itself onto the poor unfortunate creature's eyesockets, it then wraps itself around the small lizard-thing's body, tightening its coils in a series of sickening crunches. It's a scary scene, for sure.

GAME: Bennet rolls 1d20+10+3: (19)+10+3: 32

Twang! Nope. Another arrow skitters off the cave wall, narrowly missing the kobold shaman as it whizzed over its head. Mara grumbles, possibly in Elvish.

Meanwhile, there's another sickening crunching sound as, from above, the giant snake bites into the head of the kobold warrior below... and begins to hoist it up towards itself, coiling around its body as it goes. Crunch. Crackle. Snap.

GAME: Bennet rolls 1d12+1+5+1d6: (6)+1+5+(3): 15

     Round Four - Init 9.
It is now W's turn! S is next!

Bennet mutters a few phrases that a servant of the gods likely isn't supposed to say, yanking a thin tool from his belt, rapidly popping out a cracked crystal, inserting a new one, and closing the clasp faster than it takes to read about it. Lifting up the rifle again, the sound of alchemic thunder roars again in the small space, another burnign hole appearing in the shaman's shoulder, this time knocking him down.

They started as six, and now they are three.. the Brave stalwart warrior is the first to throw down his spear and put his hands up.. He sees their outnumbered and ALTHEA did you see what that snake did?! TWICE!!!

<OOC> Bahken says, "less wobbly"

<OOC> Mara says, "You know... first time I took snakey out on a plot, it ended up killing five kobolds. It was ridiculous. And now... kobolds again!"

<OOC> Bennet says, "Note to self... don't lt the ambasador from KolboldLand near the snake..."

The rogue that just got his bell rung by Kroth, shakes out the cobwebs, and looks over at his 'backup' who already has his hands in the air.. he notices how many of his have fallen and drops his blade, raising his own hands in the air.. The last of the rogue's seems about to throw another knife but then sees he'd be the last one fighting and also surrenders.

<OOC> Bahken says, "Chomp"

<OOC> Bahken says, "I'd say that mage armor potion did you good Kroth.. You avoided two attacks do to it, including a sneak attack"

Bennet sighs, and relaxes, his eyes loseing their unnatural grey shade, and his weapon fadeing in it's divine glow. "...tried ta warm 'em."

Slowly lowering her bow, Mara looks slightly surprised. "... huh. I did not expect that." There's another stamp on the ground, and the snake, perhaps reluctantly, lets go of the poor hapless kobold it had coiled up. It flops to the floor, sad and broken.

<OOC> Bahken is satisfied with his NPC kobolds..

<OOC> Bahken says, "Dangerous, tough... but not too tough"

<OOC> Bahken says, "Heh, I also forgot the bleed damage :P"

<OOC> Bahken says, "Kroth, go ahead and rp that your wounds are nasty :P"

Kroth looks around slowly, glaring at the kobolds and bleeding from multiple cuts and burns on his body. He turns and looks at the snake for a moment, then to Mara. "I like him." this with a thumb jerk at the snake.

In the cavern you see some unpleasant looking scrawls on the far wall of a black dragon.. The bloody sheep and lamb corpses seem to indicate that they were performing some sort of 'rite' to the dragon.. could have been worse really.. could have been children..

Bennet grunts at Kroth, heading closer to the rather wounded fellow. "Hold still, let me fix some of those. Pretty sure you ain't on the list to die today." The Absolutions hands glow with a faint grey light, washing away the worst of the injuries.

<OOC> Bahken says, "I didn't know you could fix a firearm as a move-equiv.."

<OOC> Bennet says, "I had to look it up. DC 20, can do it as a move. DC 10 for a standard."

Kroth nods, "That would be good." He winces slightly, trying to look and act tough of course.
